Β Richmond Performances:
- Cotchin, Trent (MID $546,500) Priced right in-between Dangerfield and Griffin, it is time to make a call on one of these types in your starting squad. Trent averaged 116 in 2012. Picking him in your team can only be entertained if you feel he can get back to this form. Played his usual inside game today and was a key playmaker but I can’t pick him as I don’t see him ending up in the top 10 scoring midfielders. Ran without much of a tag today which will not happen in the season proper.
- Reiwoldt, Jack (FWD $450,800)A big spend but his form has been very solid. Coming off his first uninterrupted preseason he looks very fit and mobile. Today he was challenged by a very solid defensive unit and stepped up with a dominant performance. Having averaged just 64 against the Roos over the past four years, is this a strong sign that he can perform more than 10 points above his starting price point of 75? Could he be this year’s Bruyn Manoeuvre?
- Martin, Dustin (FWD/MID $534,900)With the return of Trent Cotchin today we saw a more realistic view of his role this year … and he was fantastic again. Perhaps the hype is true this year. Perhaps he does have a “bigger tank”. For the first time of the entire preseason, I am considering having him in my team.
- Deledio, Brett (FWD/MID $553,300)Looking fit contrary to reports of an achilles problem. At some stage you will need him in your team. The question is, do you think you will be able to get him at a cheaper price? A more consistent option than Dusty. Looking like an excellent starting option.
- Lambert, Kane (FWD/MID $102,400)No Foley β in a fight for Thomas to be elevated. Was very quite and looked a little lost on a day where defense was not high on North’s agenda. Even started in the middle at times. At his price, an elevation makes him a lock – no need to read too much into today’s game.
- Maric, Ivan (RUC $535,900)Great contest with Goldstein today. In terms of hitouts – very even. Around the ground he was once again solid with good possession and tackle counts.
- Hunt, Taylor (DEF $290,300)A quiet game as he played a defensive tag role on Higgins. Gave us insight into what we can expect during the season proper – 60’s. While he won’t lose us cash, he won’t offer us any value in my opinion.
- McIntosh, Kamdyn (DEF $123,900)With Chris Newman to miss early games there is a good chance that McIntosh gets a run. He was good against Port with a 71 and solid again today. Possibly a rare defensive rookie option for us. If he is named around Round One lock him in.
North Performances:
- Higgins, Shaun (DEF/FWD $410,900) As I am sure you are aware, Higgins has been in my team for the entire preseason. Today I was desperate to get one more look at his role within his new team. In NAB 1 he played as a forward and did the same again today with some time in the midfield. He offers North a skilful and mobile forward option. He was dangerous and had a hard tag in Hunt but still managed to kick goals and apply forward pressure with a high tackle count. Still in my team!
- Swallow, Andrew (MID $500,600)Potential breakout candidate who is priced with Tyson and a little cheaper than Crouch & Wines. Decision time. Against the Hawks he scored a 95 from just 65% game time. Today he was serviceable with good tackle count and contested ball. Definitely relevant this year. Priced to average 93, I feel he will surely get to 105 this year.
- Wells, Daniel (MID $361,400) Fact: Wells has averaged 90 SuperCoach points in his 222 games of football and comes in priced to average 75. Today he was very good and could be considered as an M5 to enable coaches to go deeper in defense – an important consideration for this year in my opinion. He may be finding his way into my team.
- Jack Ziebell (FWD/MID $449,600)Was dominant early. Went off with a shoulder injury only to come on to get a heavy hit – likely a concussion. Started in a lot of centre bounces and will be unique selection, possibly even more so now given this injury.
- Jacobs, Ben (DEF $258,500)Another good game with reasonable possession and tackle counts. Point of difference still to be considered.
- Goldstein, Todd (RUC $574,400) Clearly the number one ruck who will be supported at times by Brown. Dominated and as Crouching pointed out, “GoldyLock” is a very solid R1 option. Shared the hitouts but had mare hitouts to advantage than Maric. Offered plenty around the ground with 20+ possessions – remarkable for a ruckman. Must be considered as your R1.
- Thompson, Scott (DEF $422,300) Shut down role. No.
- McDonald, Luke (DEF $354,800) Tackle number good and played his role so has good job security. Should hold his value, yet others appeal more.

Griffen or Swallow ??
Martin or Gray ??
Wells or Rich ??
Both Martin and Gray in mine
griffen. gray ,rich
I’ve got Grey & Martin as well as Wells & Rich.
x2
Griffen, Martin better value but fray will average higher, and wells
I've got 5 of them and would have Gray if i had enough $
with higgins in your side ,,would you consider maybe a fwd option with a dpp
H Goddard
Andrew swallow and Goldilock have been in my team from day one, must haves imo…
Put them both in and forget, you'll be rewarded come the end of the season.
Still torn between Dusty and Delids, what do you think Higgo?
If your torn go with the cheaper option and use the cash elsewhere
I can't bring myself to lock in Higgins yet, I think there are better options up forward and down back for same money…. My team is locked, very happy but the only doubt is leaving out Higgins….
Has burnt many men before but I am always willing to forgive for a good SC scoring season….
Thought community?
Goldy and Martin still locked!
Higgins or Lamumba at D4 is the biggest question for me. Can't have both in my structure. Hmmmm…
Thoughts on the team so far community?
Defence:
Simpson, Shaw, Hodge, Hurn, Newnes, N.Brown (Goddard, Saad)
Mid:
Dependlebury, Teen Wolf, JPK, Danger, Swallow, Newton, Cripps, Cockatoo (Boerkhorst, VDB, Ellis-Yolmen)
Ruck:
Nic Nat, BC (Read)
Forward:
Bartel, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Lambert, (Hogan, Krakouer)
Currently considering downgrading Hurn to Lumumba after a very strong pre-season, if Lumumba is playing a midfield/wing role could very well see him scoring a 90 average this season. Thoughts?
Also tossing up getting Lids into the forward line by downgrading Swallow to a midfield rookie… NVB? Freeman? Heeney?
I would be taking defenders with a chance of playing 22 games. That rules out Hodge and probably Hurn IMO. So Lumumba probably works in this case.
Wells was BOG today. Locked him in a while ago and I’ll keep him in.
I’ve got Tarrant @ F8 as he will play CHB & good job security.
Thinking about Tippet for D8 for a bit of cash.
Goldy=Lock
Had Thompson in my team as a pod who could average 90. But it's time to say goodbye. π
Yeah don’t do it. I love Hunter S, but even for a Roo’s supporter his inconsistency is too hard to take!
Who to choose,
Please pick 2
Steven
Neale
Griffen
A swallow
Wells
Or rich
myself i would choose Griffen, Swallow but thats me
Neale and Swallow in mine
Add in Dom Tyson and Crouch to the mix. Lots of choices for M5-6
Out of thoses, Griffen and swallow… By a fair margin
Goldy is now locked in my team.
I see Richmond a lot like Collingwood, a few players doing all the work, where kangas share it a lot similar to the Hawks. I can't see any kangas being good SC options this year (except Goldy)

higgo, give us your significant opinion!
DEF: H.Taylor, Newnes, Lumumba, Higgins, Yarran, Goddard (Saad, edwards)
MID: Fyfe, Beams, Griffen, Neale, Steven, Heeny, Ellis-Coleman (Lambert, Boekhurst, Vandeburg)
RUCK: Sandilands, NicNat ( T.Read)
FWD: Gray, Bartel, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clarke (Steele, Lonie)
You missing a mid!
yarran a big risk.
I like Sandilands as your R1, Goldy today edged past Sandi in my opinion.
What do you mean missing a mid?
Maric or Mumford? Maric looks the goods this season but Mumford has a massive ceiling
Thoughts?
Goldy, Mummy, Hickey or Maric? Guess it's a stupid question, just a matter of whether you want a set and forget or a big risk. Hickey will be number 1 ruck won't he? potential break out? Goldy and Maric look like such consistent performers tho.
First world problem, hey! haha. For a set and forget with bucket loads of durability? Goldy.
I've been talking Hickey up for awhile, but I think saints are going to get a few beatings this year so worried about his scoring. He is feeling fit and will be lone wolf at saints, I just would have liked him $40k cheaper
Should we really consider wells at M5? Ive liked the look of wells and really think he'll be good for cash generation but not sure I have the balls to go that weak in the mid
Yeah agree, Sean. M5 is way too high for mine. Many have Rich at M6. I can see Wells outscoring Rich, might be a handy POD is you're playing the mid price mid strategy
With the season just around the corner I’m confirming my Bruyn manoeuvre jumpin jack.
I’ve been watching him very closely and will kick bigger bags than he has been come the real deal. Rounds 1-4 he comes across Carlton, Bulldogs, Brisbane and melbourne
Cloke was it last year and I remember westhoff causing the same problems. Seems to be a forward line thing. There may not be one this year but if there is im rippin big jack
Tipping*
I have Mumford at R1 and Maric at R2, but have the cash for Goldy at R2.
Should I go for
Mummy and Goldy
Mummy and Maric
Goldy and Maric
If I went with Goldy and Maric it would mean I could turn D4 KK into Adcock or M6 Rich into Neale.
Thoughts?
If I keep Mummy and Maric I can go F1 Bartel to Gray
How do you guys figure out what players are priced to average?
Yes, I was going to ask the same question .. how can we work out what players are currently priced to average? Any info greatly appreciated.
I read in earlier comments that u divide the players price with 5000 and u get the ave I tried it at 400,000 and got 80pts so sound bout right
Thanks mate.
Who's some other options in the Same price range as Luke McDonald that I could get
H Goddard as Fwd/def and Higgins def/fwd?
Griffen or Wines?
