Supercoach 2015

We’ve seen each team in the NAB Challenge now.

This is an incredibly exciting time of the year community and it is bloody good to be alive! You can almost smell it – first round lockout draws nearer by another week and the fantasy footy plot is thickening.
We have learnt a fair bit about quite a few players over the past few weeks. But tonight’s podcast is as much a call for calm as it is a celebration of some of the significance that has been unearthed during the NAB.

Goddard or Gray?

    PDP · 09/03/2015 at 22:57

Gray. Although Goddard is a champ, his campaign has been seriously disrupted. You can always make an early adjustment if he comes out firing.

    ivan · 09/03/2015 at 22:58

    take both

    miles · 09/03/2015 at 23:01

gray in my opinion, but he is overpriced so if you want to free up cash goddard is the way to go.

    @TylerCA16 · 10/03/2015 at 00:21

Gray will average better. But I recommend you pick Goddard as he is better value and should improve on last years average slightly and get 106-107 points a game.

    themisfitssc · 10/03/2015 at 21:21

get both in if you can, gray has a bigger ceiling thats for sure

carlashirley90 · 09/03/2015 at 23:05

No real maths here but Gray's chances of retaining his value after first 5 games is stuff all. Easy to grap him after round 5-6 for $40-50k cheaper and snag him asap

    Super_supercoach · 09/03/2015 at 23:11

Or, you could not save the $40-50k but instead save a trade and bank Robbies points.
How much would you have paid for an extra trade during last years final round carnage?

      Derek · 09/03/2015 at 23:21

Agree. Gray is in my team. Once he is in there I don't need to worry if he goes up or down in price, he won't be leaving,

        Super_supercoach · 09/03/2015 at 23:36

Yeah mate that's the wise choice.
I'd like to know who those without Gray are planning to upgrade so they can get Gray 50k cheaper at $546k. It'd have to be a 'paint the fence' move so that means 2 trades gone cashing out 2 absolute gun rookies early or, a gun rookie and an under performing KPF or over-performing mid-pricer. None of them sound like good options to be planning for before a ball is kicked in anger.

          r2d2 · 09/03/2015 at 23:46

I’d trade down one my fwds , seems to be plenty of options there, and how you know those without Gray ? Don’t have ones you find yourself needing or wanting , or painting the fence through an inj ….. That being said good luck

          r2d2 · 09/03/2015 at 23:48

And anyone with a KPF is near on stuffed already , unless it’s buddy

            Super_supercoach · 10/03/2015 at 00:32

Bartel is KPF , Saint Nick has a first 5 games average over 115 for the past 6 years, and there are probably 3 or 4 others I'd take before Buddy

            themisfitssc · 11/03/2015 at 16:03

and the tex walker of course will have a massive year. I reckon he will score higher then buddy

          Jack · 10/03/2015 at 00:56

If I start without Gray I'll theoretically have an extra 50k to spend on the rest of my team. If/when I bring him in I'll be using the same amount of trades that I would be using to upgrade any of my rookies to any other forward. Sure you'll be banking the points by starting with him but I'm rather confident that the players I already have in my forward line will still give me a reasonable output. So I won't be starting with him.

          Dan · 10/03/2015 at 01:24

Could strategically go for a Walters/Adams and move up to a Gray by round 5-7 if you left a bit in the bank.

      t_mitch · 10/03/2015 at 06:21

your not saving a trade are you though, if your just going gray ahead of goddard you still have the same amount of rookie spots in the fwd line, your only saving a trade if you upgrade a rookie to a premium

        carlashirley90 · 10/03/2015 at 12:10

The real question is what will he be worth if is average is 100-105 after 1st 5 games?
And the thing Iam mostly talking about what if it's not even 100?
People not selecting him is because of 2 things: Team structure and get him in at a discount price.
Personally there is more upside in not selecting him in initial team structure
Worst case scenario is he averages around 108-112 till the bye round and can still bring him in then

I respect people selecting him though he is Going to be top 3 forwards this year no question

        Muddie moose · 10/03/2015 at 12:26

I for one have grey in my team I think one of the factors being overlooked buy people who plan to trade him in around round 5 is having that kind of money to spend if he does drop 50k you are still looking at about 550k to bring him in

This would mean trading two rookies or one rookie and upgrading one premo or mid price in witch go’s against one of our goldern rules of backing our premo’s and by round 5 those two rookies may not have reached their highest vale so you may save 30 – 50k on grey but you could lose yourself 100k+ in the vale of two rookies

          t_mitch · 10/03/2015 at 12:56

rookies will not have peaked at rd 5 so i will be looking at him for a upgrade after his bye at what i belive will be around 20 30k saving from now and rookie prices to have peaked

            Sarah · 10/03/2015 at 14:14

$20-30k saving is not much to miss out on about 105 points each week (assuming that's his average).
Personnaly, I'm going to set and forget him in my forward line.

              skindog · 10/03/2015 at 15:30

Same Sarah, been toying with this little dilemma (and others) but have locked him in,, wont drop enough imo

              themisfitssc · 11/03/2015 at 16:04

smart move sarah, then you can swing him into mids if need cover for short term injury

    Phil · 10/03/2015 at 19:28

Smith DEF Ablett MID Goldstein RUCK Gray FWD. They are my tips for top scoring players in each position (without knowing who will play 22 games). If you had to ask me who I'm most confident on it would be Robbie Gray. Yes even more than Gaz.

    sam siddall · 11/03/2015 at 22:05

Same as me mate u wont be wasting a trade as it would be a trade u use to upgrade some1 else he wont avg 111 first 5 rds I reckon 100 tops againest them teams same or less than dusty and bartel

@TylerCA16 · 09/03/2015 at 23:07

What do all think Jack Steven will average this year?

    wije · 09/03/2015 at 23:28

hes in my team. his price can only go up….. i reckon he will average 110+

      @TylerCA16 · 09/03/2015 at 23:39

Yeah in mine to. Absolute lock if he continues playing well in NAB.

        Canny the Manny · 10/03/2015 at 01:11

He had a shocker in his first game though, and as the number 1 midfielder at the saints he's going to cop the tag almost every week. Keep in mind he was playing a team of absolute nobodies in Essendon when he scored his 124. Could be a sneaky red herring if you ask me…

          Patrick · 11/03/2015 at 22:10

I don't think Steven will get a tag, he will be in a team towards the bottom 4, as a generalisation most clubs don't employ a tagger in these games, there is no need

    General Soreness · 10/03/2015 at 09:25

no more than 105 at best.

    phil · 10/03/2015 at 19:20

99.3 with a hard tag in almost every game he plays

    themisfitssc · 11/03/2015 at 16:04

carlashirley90 · 09/03/2015 at 23:09

Did I almost hear Croching one break character in his laugh 🙂

    Jai · 09/03/2015 at 23:13

    haha classic hey

Mike C · 09/03/2015 at 23:15

Just listened to podcast… Gold boys gold… Thanks for keeping us on track, not chasing any bit of Nab pseudo-premium fluff! Am back to picking the proven premos

Damnson · 09/03/2015 at 23:23

Hello again community, I need your insights and opinions on the following questions:
1. Defence woes, who to choose as premos (currently have simpson, smith, shaw, newnes?
2. J Lonie, was a real POD but has now become a revelation, had a really good TAC cup SC point average but now starting to doubt as a viable rookie.
3. To ollies wines or to not?

    r2d2 · 09/03/2015 at 23:26

Wines is a jet , ready to explode in my opinion

      r2d2 · 09/03/2015 at 23:29

Gibson maybe a good POD in def, esp if Lake and Frawley take key forwards allowing Gibbo to roam and rack up points , good luck with your team

        Jambo · 10/03/2015 at 00:17

Hawthorn's acquisition of Frawley will make Gibson VERY relevant. I would pick Gibson over Simpson, Smith and Shaw, Newnes is worth considering. He's in my team. As for Lonie, if he can score well next NAB game, pick him. Ollie Wines, I reckon will continue to score well, but there are plenty of value with players like Macrae, McGlynn etc around his price. Go with your gut, says I.

      Damnson · 09/03/2015 at 23:29

r2d2 · 09/03/2015 at 23:24

To get Gray …. I would need to flick dids or Goddard ,, just not sure I can do it after 1 nab game ? At least want to see a couple more , and even then may wait till Gray drops a bit , surely he will ?

    @TylerCA16 · 09/03/2015 at 23:29

Yeah mate, Gray is certain to go down. Stick with your guts and don't get sucked in like everyone else. I'm not starting with him, he will be a upgrade target of mine.

      Tyler · 09/03/2015 at 23:31

is Ablett also a upgrade target of yours?? almost a certain to go down…

        r2d2 · 09/03/2015 at 23:35

        I have gaz mate

        r2d2 · 09/03/2015 at 23:38

Don’t want too put Gray in my mid either , needs to be f1 if he comes in …

        @TylerCA16 · 09/03/2015 at 23:47

Hahaha, righto mate I see what you're saying. Don't get me wrong Gray is a good selection. I have just always thought picking high value players is must have. Players like Bontempelli, Steven, Griffen, Newnes, Bellchambers I prefer having as I feel they will improve on last years average and save me cash to upgrade other areas of my team. There is not one player in my team who I think will do the same if not worse than their year before. And I just can't see Gray getting past last years average by more than 2 or 3 points.

          r2d2 · 10/03/2015 at 00:09

Fair points … I won’t start with Gray either , but def get him early on , and I like your Bont selection …. Big POD

        Dan · 10/03/2015 at 01:26

Ablett is worth the extra cash if for no other reason than he is a set and forget Captain.

      r2d2 · 09/03/2015 at 23:33

The guys a gun , could get Crowley first round though , then swans , Roos and Hawks , is tempting to get him now in case he explodes from get go , but think I will resist mate , cheers and good luck too your team

        @TylerCA16 · 10/03/2015 at 00:18

        No worries, any time.

    Jambo · 09/03/2015 at 23:35

I'm seriously considering Deledio. He averaged 120.5 over the last six rounds of 2014. I would lock Jordan Lewis away and throw away the key for the season, averaged 133.5 over his last six rounds of 2014 and looks set to maintain that average.

      @TylerCA16 · 10/03/2015 at 00:14

Yeah deledio should have a good year. Not sure on Lewis, haven't really looked at him. Interesting pick, hmmmm…

      Dan · 10/03/2015 at 01:28

Lewis had his breakout year as a premo, also his first year that he slimmed down and got super fit. When Hawks preseason training began, he was the first of the older players to return and join the 1-3 yr players in training, set to maintain if not increase avg.

    danny · 10/03/2015 at 20:37

    gray bigger ceiling then goddard

    Glorin · 10/03/2015 at 21:48

Goddard is way overpriced. Gray is better value for the extra cash. Gray MAY drop 30-40k, but Goddard WILL drop 50k or more. I picked him up late last season around $420k. Much easier upgrade target at that price.

OldOcker · 09/03/2015 at 23:31

JOCK: Glad to hear that you have a major sponsor mate.
Hope it helps you out for this year and in the years to come.

Super_supercoach · 09/03/2015 at 23:44

Hahaha @ Lekdog. By the end of this week the list of players that he's 'Had since the start' will reach 50. Either he's got a couple of teams (against the fineprint rules) or he's a bit of a goose.

throttlefinger · 09/03/2015 at 23:45

So damn funny. That Crouching Bedtime Story had me crying. Like to hear more Pyanmuh bedtime stories.

Golden insights that were, dare I say, some of the best so far this preseason. Especially about Gray and midpricers. Have been going back and forth with Gray. Hamish out could mean more attention. And with the tough opening draw, that could mean lower than $30K drop. A have been toying with a splat of midpricers in back line. Langdon, Thumper and LMcD. Think they are all valued selections yet not all should be in your back line. Leaning towards Pearce as only midpricer back there (well, if you count Newnes, two).

Excellent as always. Look forward to the Club Jock podcast and hearing Jocko's team!

    I N Pieman · 10/03/2015 at 10:39

Hello Throts my good man. I'm certain one of Langdon Thumper & L Mac will end up being a top 10 defender. Super impressive kids. In years to come they will be premo locks. But this year trying to pick the one will be tough. Throw a blanket over the 3 of them. If you nail the right one it will give your team an edge.

      Sarah · 10/03/2015 at 13:03

Hey INP, just to keep you up to date with the crows… Jake Kelly is the only crows rookie defender selected for NAB 2. Wigg, Ramsay and Lever all missed the cut. I think they're all now long odds to make the round 1 team.

        throttlefinger · 10/03/2015 at 20:21

A nice understatement Sarah. JK is the only one in the running for R1…and he still a chance he may not get that.

      throttlefinger · 10/03/2015 at 20:20

Hahaha. Well said, Pieman. Leaning toward Thumper but Langdon seems to have taken the backfield QB position. May change once season starts but doubt it if he continues the form he showed in N1.

        I N Pieman · 10/03/2015 at 20:34

With Maxwell & The Prince moving on & the continual unavailability of Scharenberg Langdon doesn't look like a bad option Throts in the QB position. Langdon was drafted as insurance for Scharenberg who was never going to play last season. Now Scharenberg will have his work cut out displacing him.

          throttlefinger · 10/03/2015 at 20:41

Old as always, my good friend. Like the promise of KK as well. Think the risk on both is relatively low. Considering slotting both in. Not 100% but feel they both could, at least, be a nice stepping stone to a top 5 defender. Going back and forth between having Heater and Newnes as D1. Surely the # of rooks who make Round 1 will have a big influence on that.

seaford scouse · 09/03/2015 at 23:55

Whoa Jock almost overstepping the mark with Higgo there mate lucky he hadn't been on the sherry or you could have been wearing next weeks cast in ward 20 at the Alfred! Great calls as always fellas, love the Clancee Pearce call, v.relevant now I reckon, good advice on Robbie G also but he does look tempting in that kind of form. Can't wait for the club Jock cast and to hear your team mate, wondering if Higgins made it 😉

Nice team. I would go a little heavier in the def as I don't trust 2 out of those 4 rooks to be playing every week. Nice P.O.D in Priddis. Be wary of Goldstein also looked meh in NAB. Overall good team though.

      Anthony · 10/03/2015 at 19:44

I have an almost identical team to you Veccy, so solid team lol

      Veccy · 10/03/2015 at 20:08

Tyler what rookies don't you trust? Thanks for your help btw

Super_supercoach · 10/03/2015 at 00:10

Brad Sheppard is a guaranteed 80+. Eagles lost Eric the great, Xavier ellis, and Beau Ironshoulders Waters and they don't have any other experienced running defenders. He has had TWO good Nab games 89 and 116 and there's absolutely no reason that he wont ave 85 until the bye. Remember the wombats solution, price is irrelevant.

    @TylerCA16 · 10/03/2015 at 00:25

Yeah looks good this year doesn't he… has just replaced Ibbotson in my team.

The Wombat Prime!! Where's he gone….hope all's well with him.

I would have a plan B, in case T Mitchell isn't in Swans best 22 for round 1.

    Luey is a risk.

    t_mitch · 10/03/2015 at 13:03

im running with the same structure but agree with derek, luey and mitchell wont be anywhere near my team

Same thoughts as derek and t_mitch.

What are you thoughts on Henderson? I can't make up my mind on him.

Jock, Higgo, Crouching One – one of the all time great podcasts! crouching in absolute gold form!

    You're a ripper Chicko – cheers mate

General Soreness · 10/03/2015 at 08:59

Stellar podcast gents, very salient advice re not chasing NAB points, however we should not dismiss NAB form but rather analyse what has caused the change, i.e. another out, change role, move etc.

    I N Pieman · 10/03/2015 at 10:54

True general. Just because someone cheap tonnes up it doesn't mean you chuck them in your team.

    Sarah · 10/03/2015 at 13:56

    Great advice General.

    jockreynolds · 11/03/2015 at 22:58

Lobbe Pyke (cox)

    I N Pieman · 10/03/2015 at 11:02

Gee Wizz Stegga some risky picks in that team. Lamumba Langdon Sheppard Pearce Brown (can't score) Stevens Rich Lobbe Pyke Thomas Wellingham. Get rid of most of them. If you take 4 risky picks you can get rid of them before they lose value. 10 & your in all sorts of strife. For the record Langdon Sheppard & Pearce are possibly worth punting on. But i'd suggest only 2 of them. Best of luck for the season

Gobbledoks Pride · 10/03/2015 at 09:50

Gents great podcast love your work!

The Gobbledok is feeling pretty good with his team currently finishing off a BIG ARSE BAG OF DORITOS but just struggling team mechanics with Griffen or Crouch, Rich or Dunstan, Mitchell or The Bont, Geary or Z.Jones would really appreciate some advice from the Supercoach Gods!!!

    Gobbledoks Pride · 10/03/2015 at 09:58

Really feeling both Griffen and Rich will cop tags all year especially Rich as Rockliff and Beams pretty much un tagable! Can see Ward or Shield or Greene getting tagged ahead of Griffen!

      Gobbledoks Pride · 10/03/2015 at 10:01

Sorry correction CANNOT SEE Ward, Shields or Greene getting tagged before Griffen!

        t_mitch · 10/03/2015 at 10:19

griffen has been tagged his whole career, not changing anything for him, will just go about his business

    Glorin · 10/03/2015 at 22:02

I am interested in Z.Jones as well. Any thoughts on him getting regular game without the vest?
    Griffin,OK. Maybe geary. Rest forget.

    themisfitssc · 11/03/2015 at 16:32

been toying with players along the same lines…. difficult choice my friend pick right and kaboom…… but don't jump off your pick to early if they are not performing straight away

jimmydowland · 10/03/2015 at 09:55

absolutely grouse podcast once again boys!!

I N Pieman · 10/03/2015 at 10:29

Loved the Pod as always gents. Very interesting regarding Robbie Gray. He's had some very durable seasons & some shockers with injury. His jump in average last season was insane. Will he get more attention, I think he will. Opposition coaches will know if your any chance of beating Port you have to shut Gray down. Casts too much doubt for me to pick him for rnd 1. Ports early draw is super tough. Brad Sheppard is any interesting one. There's a void at WC. Waters gone for good & Mckenzie for the season. I'm interested. Non committal at this stage but in my thoughts as a ballsy pick. Dools & I have been talking about Clancee Pearce for months. Bugger now he's on everyone's radar. And rightly so. If he's best 22 he's great value.

    shezza · 10/03/2015 at 21:10

I think he’ll play more midfield. As the boys said, he will probably be in the top 6 forwards. I can’t knock anyone for not putting Gray in to free up $50K which allows to upgrade another player in your squad

Cowza · 10/03/2015 at 10:50

Love Higgo's point about Robbie Gray! is a 40k drop worth potentially loosing points though? I'm tossing between Goddard and Gray for F1.

    derek · 10/03/2015 at 12:39

I had Gray locked in my first draft team, now everyone is starting to wake up to him. (I just hope no one wakes up to putting Sandilands in their rucks)

      Patrick · 11/03/2015 at 22:18

Have them both! And gray in my miss not fwd to start

Mike · 10/03/2015 at 10:53

Huge question community

If Swan increases his value to say $540k and Gray decreases in value to $540k after 6 rounds do we straight swap knowing that Gray is a top 3 fwd player and Swan may not be top 6 fwd player, age in the legs a factor to take in? and will he be rested up forward?

I have only just thought about this today and I don't know if iam the only one?

    t_mitch · 10/03/2015 at 13:01

if swans price goes up to 540k then he will be scoring at a top 8 fwd rate so if that is the scenario then i wont be straight swapping the two,

    budstar · 10/03/2015 at 13:21

If Swan increases in value to say 540K early he'll be having a good year avg 100, he should play more midfield with Beams gone, Swanny a season lock for me. Gray is a gun on last years effort but Jack Steven didn't back up a massive 2013 for the Saints granted he had an injury affected pre season in 2014, maybe Gray might find a big tag coming his way each week affecting his scoring this year. Massive jump in Gray's avg in 2014, wonder if he can back it up?

      r2d2 · 10/03/2015 at 13:52

Not sure Gray will get tagged every week , because then boak and wines off the chain …. Boak seems to cop the tag ,, but If it goes to Gray , boak becomes very significant in sc too ! Gray plays too many diff areas on ground to be tagged , even went to hb against Eagles in nab 1

    I N Pieman · 10/03/2015 at 13:36

Hey Carla. If you picking Swanny your picking him as a season keeper. Only trade him if he's spudding it up or gets a long term injury. If he's back to his best he's F1.

      carlashirley90 · 10/03/2015 at 13:43

Haha my mind is entering over think mode

        Sarah · 10/03/2015 at 14:10

Mine's been doing that too. It generally causes me to hit the 'clear my team' button!! But I usually then input the same team anyway!

          carlashirley90 · 10/03/2015 at 17:03

        Glorin · 10/03/2015 at 22:13

After reading at lot of your other posts I was wondering where you were going with this one! Keep up the good work. You thoughts on SC are very insightful.

    derek · 10/03/2015 at 15:25

that is called a sideways trade. please don't. look at getting Gray into your team via upgrade.

    Super_Freak · 10/03/2015 at 18:01

Both should be in FWD line as end of season keepers. Swan definately to start with cause he's so cheap, and Gray either as a starter or an upgrade. Reckon Gray is just too good to not start with. I'm not really worried about his hard draw to start with. Good players generally score more points against better teams!

    Phil · 10/03/2015 at 19:15

Half of it sounds good! If Gray drops to 540k jump on him, he is a absolute freak of a player

    @t_woof · 10/03/2015 at 21:44

    Start both.

Though a move like that during the season could be a game changer if Swanny went down in the following few weeks.

But as Derek said, it'd be a sideways trade…..though if downgraded to a rook on the bubble and upgraded a rook somewhere else to a premium….then perhaps smooth move.

budstar · 10/03/2015 at 13:01

Loved the Podcast fellas awesome stuff. I'm an Aussie gringo living in Brazil, I love SC and enjoying all your valuable info. Any feedback on my team would be awesome. All the best to the Jock Reynolds Community

Rucks: Naitanui Leuenberg Sub: T.Read

    I N Pieman · 10/03/2015 at 13:45

Very nice budstar. Not much wrong with that team.

    DigDug · 10/03/2015 at 14:12

    Hey budstar.

I'm not sold on Andrew Swallow being underpriced and Van Berlo worries me.

Leuey is a bit of a worry as well going by how he was played in the NAB games (take NAB with a grain of salt)

I feel like you get get more value by spending elsewhere in your midfield.

    Backline looks solid.

    derek · 10/03/2015 at 15:28

hi Bud, you are batting deep in your midfield and leaving yourself weak elsewhere (particularly in the rucks).

DigDug · 10/03/2015 at 13:19

ok so I get the "shouldn't have the mid price defender roster" BUT… what If there is absolutely ZERO rookies that will put together 2-3 games in a row this season??

Surely having zeroes in our backline is worst than 50's-75's?

    t_mitch · 10/03/2015 at 13:22

i think they boys are trying to say you still need to start with about 2-3 top 10 defenders not 6 mid prices

      DigDug · 10/03/2015 at 14:05

ah ok, thanks for clearing that up. Well then I totally agree, 6 midpricers in DEF (in my opinion) is bad for a team.

        derek · 10/03/2015 at 15:37

the problem with mid pricers, you have every plan to upgrade them during the year, just after they peak in price, but there is ALWAYS other problems in your team that needs urgent care (injuries) and you end up keeping hold of these midprices for the whole year (IE Suckling, Terlich, A Goodes)

          @t_woof · 10/03/2015 at 21:48

You're SPOT on Derek! Been there, done that before.

Surely a few rookies bob up sooner or later….and you can go in with only 1 mid pricer in your def….perhaps a C.Pearce (cheaper end of mid pricers).

    Phil · 10/03/2015 at 19:11

Agree with what the other guys said Dig and also if there were 6 mid pricers you liked rather than start all 6 and have nobody to sideways to if they fail, wouldn't it be more wise to start with say 4, so just incase a couple fail you have a few options to do a sneaky Round 3 sideways to?

Redgumwon · 10/03/2015 at 13:29

We've got a game of Supercoach Draft and one place to fill if anyone is interested in playing. The league code is 463497 and the draft is on the 26th of March at 8.30pm

carlashirley90 · 10/03/2015 at 13:45

Based on structures how many players are we upgrading to make full premo?

6, 7 or even 8?

I have 7

    I N Pieman · 10/03/2015 at 13:58

9 at least Carla. I'm starting plenty of super guns. Not picking a premo I won't want in my team in round 23.

      DigDug · 10/03/2015 at 14:09

      9 for me too.

Unless you were keeping a fair chunk in the bank after round 1 to test out prospects with an easy option to 'correct' then i don't see much point in having premo's that won't be there in the end.

    Sarah · 10/03/2015 at 14:12

    I have 9 to get.

      carlashirley90 · 10/03/2015 at 14:46

Ok I see now ty guys ok 🙂

    derek · 10/03/2015 at 15:34

I'm starting with 14 premos (if you count Newnes). will need to up grade 8.

depends if you are going for league wins or overall rank?

skindog · 10/03/2015 at 15:15

G'day community, I have a league that needs filling if anyone would like to join? 799829 Cheers

    Redgumwon · 10/03/2015 at 17:22

    Ok I'm in

tom · 10/03/2015 at 15:40

what are the best forward rookies?

    I N Pieman · 10/03/2015 at 16:02

Wait till nab is done to work that out

    General Soreness · 10/03/2015 at 17:06

The ones that are picked to play round 1. Smart alec comment aside, read the cheat sheets and Team posts, it will help.

    derek · 10/03/2015 at 18:46

I'm assuming you have heard of Hogan?

derek · 10/03/2015 at 15:47

My forward line has not changed since I started putting my team together. Gray, Goddard, Martin, Swan, Salem, Hogan (Rookies).

I thought about T Mitchell but thought there will be opportunities to get him later if he is cranking. Buddy will find his way in there once he has his Buffalo Bounce.

There is a giant shadow lurking over my forward line, and I can't stop looking at Travis Cloke's price of only $370k and thinking of the great Bruien move of 2013.

    General Soreness · 10/03/2015 at 17:07

That is a solid forward line derek.

It has crossed my mind as well Derek but with so much fwd line value I just cannot justify the risk on Joke……I mean Cloke.

    MoshedPotatoes · 12/03/2015 at 15:19

Jack Riewoldt this years Travis Cloke of 2013 super soft opening 4 rounds then Geelong at the MCG who knows what Geelong will do this year. Offload him before North in Rd6 destroys richmond like they always do.

Straya Mate · 10/03/2015 at 16:10

Leigh montagna as P.O.D 480,00

    General Soreness · 10/03/2015 at 17:05

Not for me mate, will not be a keeper mid nor generate cash, he would be a POD if he is selected though.

    Ben Bretel · 11/03/2015 at 16:04

    better of with steven

Dean · 10/03/2015 at 16:11

Am I the only one who thinks Griffin will cop the tag?

    Tyler · 10/03/2015 at 16:14

He will break it too 😉

    Cezza93 · 10/03/2015 at 18:00

Ward cops a tag every week and smashes them. Imagine if that tag slips off and goes to Griffin, ward becomes a raging bull and Griffin is limited. I think Ward and Trealor are far more damaging and Griffin will run free.

    Gobbledoks Pride · 11/03/2015 at 14:08

Yes me thinking the same, Griffin has been able to beat the tag in past seasons but has also had major trouble especially last season (admittedly he carried injurys and a slow start to the season) but that still really concrens me mate! At present still 50/50 for me I will wait and see next NAB game and make a call!

Rick · 10/03/2015 at 16:24

Ok guys, I need your opinions. Im stuck between choosing 1 of 2 options.

Option 1: I have luenberger in the ruck and ryder in the forward line
Option 2: I have jacobs in the ruck and bellchambers in the forward line.

I have no idea what to go for, please help me out community.

    @thecowza · 10/03/2015 at 16:50

Option 2 for me.. maybe look at Goldy over Jacobs

    General Soreness · 10/03/2015 at 16:55

Rick, I am not a big fan of ruck cover, just too much compromising. May I suggest a third option.

Option 3: Take Jacobs and instead of Bellchambers put a forward rookie, use the cash to upgrade elsewhere and keep enough in the bank to enable ruck trade if one goes down.

      Rick · 10/03/2015 at 17:58

I already have clark and hogan as playing rookies, I dont want to start with 3 rookies.

        t_mitch · 11/03/2015 at 14:25

why not, general sorness is bang on, im starting 3 rookies in the fwd line, so many rookies down there need to take advantage, then sure up the defence where there are stuff all, i will be starting 3 rooks on field in fwd and 0 rooks onfield in def

    Tyler · 10/03/2015 at 19:08

    Easy option 2 for me

    Gobbledoks Pride · 11/03/2015 at 14:11

Option 2 mate, Stefan Martins a gun and my Lions clear NO.1 ruck cant see any value in Leuy at all unless Martin go's down in the next couple of weeks!! but I'm with you I have Bellchambers @R2 but not sure on him ether due to Giles!!

James · 10/03/2015 at 16:41

Defenders: Hibberd, Newnes, Langdon, Kolo, C Pearce, Goddard (Edwards, Saad)

Midfield: Ablett, Beams, Parker, Deliedo, Griffen, Swallow, Newton, Anderson (Heeney, vanderberg, freeman)

Ruck: Nic Nat, Pyke (Cox)

Forward: Martin, Bennell, Swan, Motlop, Hogan, Jack Steele (Lamb, Lambert)

    General Soreness · 10/03/2015 at 17:03

James I can see what your thinking but for me there is just too much mid price risk. At best I think it will take you a minimum of 11 upgrades to get to full premium, leaving approx 8 trades in total for correction, injury. May I suggest that if you must have Lids, he should be in the forward line. Turn Motlop into a rook use the cash to upgrade Pyke. Choose one of or at most 2 of Langdon, Kolo and Pearce, it is unlikely that one of them let alone all three become keepers, therefore they need to generate cash, keep the one or two that are most likely to generate cash or be kept. All other choices are quite sound. My only other concern is outside of Ablett and Beams you do not have go to loophole options.

    Derek · 10/03/2015 at 20:40

I really like Pyke at R2

jmy7 · 10/03/2015 at 17:04

hey community, just a quick one
giffen or swallow
love to know who you would go with, cheers

    General Soreness · 10/03/2015 at 17:17

    Griffen no contest

    Redgumwon · 10/03/2015 at 17:23

I'm thinking Swallow but I'll keep watching both before round 1

    Gobbledoks Pride · 11/03/2015 at 14:11

    Griiffen !

HFerg · 10/03/2015 at 17:06

newton or vandenberg?

    General Soreness · 10/03/2015 at 17:16

thats the $80K question. Vendenberg needs upgrade first but assuming he does, I would pocket the $80K and go Van Den Berg.

    jmy7 · 10/03/2015 at 17:16

    i have both

    Redgumwon · 10/03/2015 at 17:23

Newton as Vandenberg need to get off the rookie list

      General Soreness · 11/03/2015 at 09:37

      Newton is not rookie listed.

        Redgumwon · 12/03/2015 at 14:11

That's right Newton isn't rookie listed but Vandenberg is 🙂

    Sarah · 11/03/2015 at 09:29

I'm selecting both. Would be very surprised if Vandenberg doesn't get an upgrade off the rookie list to cover Petracca.

    Gobbledoks Pride · 11/03/2015 at 14:12

Sc newby · 10/03/2015 at 17:39

Phil Walsh happy with o'brien and will play him round 1 if he performs in nab, date I say it. Significant!

    Sc newby · 10/03/2015 at 17:41

    Sarah · 11/03/2015 at 09:29

    VERY significant

Weary · 10/03/2015 at 17:42

Robbie Tarrant as a forward rookie priced option?

    Cezza93 · 10/03/2015 at 17:58

Blokes a walking hospital, switched to key defender this year to which mean points go south.

Jack · 10/03/2015 at 17:47

Def: smith shaw hodge newnes Pearce white cross : Goddard sadd
Mid: Ablett Fyfe pendles wines crouch rich nvb Anderson : heeney freeman lambert
Ruck: Nic Nat Bellchambers : cox
Fwd: Martin Goddard swan Salem hogan karnezis : krakour Steele
76.5 thousand
Thinking of trading white cross to Edwards
Nvb to Newton

Andrew · 10/03/2015 at 17:47

What’s your thoughts on Buddy? I have him in my team at the moment but I am thinking of trading him out for Devon Smith and using the money elsewhere. Thoughts?

    Cezza93 · 10/03/2015 at 17:57

I currently have Buddy, i have this feeling he will be back to his best this year. But Smith? is he really that proven?

      derek · 10/03/2015 at 18:43

      wait for the buffalo bounce

    @t_woof · 10/03/2015 at 22:01

Don't mind him at all Andrew.

Tippett spending more time in medical room than on the park. Could be all Buddy, Buddy, Buddy up front.

      Sarah · 11/03/2015 at 09:31

I think you'll find that Buddy actually scores better with Tippett in the team.

        @t_woof · 11/03/2015 at 10:55

        Cheers Sarah.

I've had a look, and not too fussed. Post Round 6, the with or without averages find the smallest of leans to without.

But difficult to make a damning case either way, when we only have 11 games + 3 finals to go off. ……i still think he's underpriced in 2015.

Cezza93 · 10/03/2015 at 17:57

Thoughts on Lachie Neale as a POD? His finals series was nothing short of insane.

    KJU FC · 10/03/2015 at 18:56

I really like the look of him Cezza! I think he is in for a breakout year but not sure if he will be in the top 15 mids come end of the year. He is on my watchlist at the moment but dont think ill have the balls to go for him

Chris · 10/03/2015 at 18:38

I do not care what anyone says. Griffin will get tagged. I don't believe he will be pumping out 160 odd every week. Maybe if he gets another high scores in his next nab challenge game but at the moment, not sold. Any reasons why I should pick him?

    derek · 10/03/2015 at 18:45

Higgo said this before the first NAB game. Don't look at anyone except for the rookies during the NAB games. it will mean nothing! Without teams playing their full side or going at full rat-power, it is meanlingless to look at premiums or even mid-pricers. Only look at the rookies!!

      Chris · 10/03/2015 at 18:48

Cheers derek, I like the look of your side, Priddis is a great selection. I have him myself

    Sarah · 11/03/2015 at 09:33

Griffin has been tagged his whole career so it's not going to determine whether I pick him or not. If you look closely at ALL the premium mids, you'll realise they ALL get tagged. What makes them a premium is that the tag does not impact their scoring.

Andrew · 10/03/2015 at 18:47

Thoughts on Walters as F4

Angus · 10/03/2015 at 19:01

Anyone picking Hampton

    Dools · 10/03/2015 at 19:47

At 400K?? No mate over to you!!

      Angus · 10/03/2015 at 19:55

Whats your team look like dools?

KJU FC · 10/03/2015 at 19:08

Sloane or Beams?
Sloane is a POD but Beams knows how to score big more often.

    Angus · 10/03/2015 at 19:10

Sloane is a consistant player. You know you will get 100's every week from him. Beams can score big, but his score may be impacted by the boys around him, like Rockliff, Rich, Zorko

      Dools · 10/03/2015 at 19:48

Are we comparing like with like here ??? If so pick the cheaper one IF not why the Q???

        KJU FC · 10/03/2015 at 19:51

was just looking for advice Dools .

      General Soreness · 11/03/2015 at 09:15

He seemed to score fairly well surrounded by Pendles, Swan and Sidebum.

    @t_woof · 10/03/2015 at 22:03

    Both valid selections.
Go with your gut. I'd lean Beams.

      Glorin · 10/03/2015 at 22:29

I concur. Loved them both last year. Will start beams and see if sloane signs a contract before the start of season.

That would be Anthony Miles Tony

      I N Pieman · 10/03/2015 at 21:03

I brought Miles & Martin in in the same round King. Scarcely believable what they both did. Massive risk wondering if Miles can get better. I can't do it. Some mouth-watering stats Tony.

        Tony · 10/03/2015 at 21:25

        Thanks I N Pieman,
Yes a bit of a risk I agree. Not a rookie ( is 23 this year ), so no second year blues, 3 seasons on Afl list, great early draw, Lids and Martin spending time forward, breakout looms ! ( I hope ) ???

          BennyGan · 10/03/2015 at 21:37

$537k for someone whose never played more than 12 games in a season is far to big of a risk, can't see him averaging 100 again this season too. Griffen and swallow are much better options around that price.

            FootyFanatic · 10/03/2015 at 21:48

I gotta agree, it's not that he is a bad selection but there is better value at his price.

              BennyGan · 10/03/2015 at 21:54

He will also cop a lot more attention from other teams this year

        Derek · 10/03/2015 at 22:27

Plenty more at same price. Ie sam mitchell

    jockreynolds · 11/03/2015 at 22:58

    VERY interesting tony

    nick · 15/03/2015 at 01:08

    sounds like Daniel wells

BennyGan · 10/03/2015 at 20:51

Hey lads i have two questions,
1. Swallow or Griffen? I know swallow will get about 100 every week but won't go much higher than 115 but giffen can go as high as 150-170 but also has the 60-70 games.

2. I'm a bit worried about starting Salem as he hasn't proven anything this nab cup, anyone have some suggestions for an alternative at that F5/6 that is 250k or under

Thanks everyone

    Derek · 10/03/2015 at 21:21

I watched Salem play in the NAB cup and I didn’t think he played to bad. The few things he did he seemed to have plenty of time, but he looked like he was going half pace. He will be in best 22, so I’m not worried, he played like he was saving himself, was always around the ball but not really putting his head over the ball. He is still a lock.

The best thing about him is that, even though he will be in my forward line, he will play in dees backline, and therefore should see plenty of the ball this year.

      BennyGan · 10/03/2015 at 21:31

Yeah thanks mate maybe I've jumped the gun with him, Roos will want to play him every week, and their aren't many players of his price with good job security, just hope he can stay clear of the vest.

    pauly walnuts · 10/03/2015 at 21:33

ATM I have both Griffen n Swallow , i see Griiffen as a possible keeper and Swallow as a trade up to a prem, but things can change,go with your gut feeling

      BennyGan · 10/03/2015 at 21:39

i assume you are running swallow at m6 then?

        pauly walnuts · 10/03/2015 at 21:49

          Derek · 10/03/2015 at 22:25

M6 is a deep midfield. Have you tried just going 5 premo midfield and see what your team could look like with the extra cash.

            Glorin · 10/03/2015 at 22:41

Hey Derek, I am running with m6 premo midfield and it looks better than m5 gun/rookie setup as I keep throwing good money at less points in backline. Trying to stick with g/r strategy, I feel that money is best spent midfield. Would like to go full premo ruck but not sure how new scoring Wil affect the Rucks.

              nick · 15/03/2015 at 01:12

with this new scoring only 3 rucks that would give u massive scores but going coast a bit jaccobs mummy or martin I have martin and mummy starting

    nick · 15/03/2015 at 01:09

your the third person go with cockatoo he will play every game and trust me he will score out of sight griffen I would go someone like gray or Ollie wines just food for thought

Cyril is Delicious · 10/03/2015 at 21:13

Do I go Sloane at m5 or Griffen as he is cheaper and will allow me to upgrade Leuy? cheers

    Derek · 10/03/2015 at 21:22

Anything that will help you get rid of Luey, get Griff.

      Cyril is Delicious · 10/03/2015 at 21:40

Haha cheers mate, the trouble here is getting a decent ruck man for about $450,000, anyone you would recommend mate? Thanks

        Derek · 10/03/2015 at 22:22

At $450k you are only looking at Pyke. You need a lone wolf, reliable. Could do worse

carlashirley90 · 10/03/2015 at 22:49

Im sorry community for saying some bizarre stuff as posts above by me look down right funny now that I have gone of the Vodka. Thank you for supporting me and bouncing info and ideas, for a while I was losing focus on my structure by being too fancy.

carlashirley90 · 10/03/2015 at 23:14

Ok this my team for now, don't hold back on criticism i welcome it.

Simpson, Gibson, Newnes, C.Pearce, Edwards, H.Goddard ( McKenzie, Saad)
Ablett, Pendlebury, Beams, Priddis, Griffen, Biggs, Heeney, Vandenberg ( Leverde, Freeman, Krakouer)
Sandilands, Naitanui ( Read)
Gray, Deledio, Bartel, Swan, Hogan, Lamb ( Steele, Lambert)

Rookies will change no doubt

    General Soreness · 11/03/2015 at 09:02

Looking very solid Carla. Biggs had bone bruising on the knee and has now done a hammy. Keep an eye on Gibbo, one swallow does not make a summer. Nothing more to add, solid work.

    JoeWoolcock · 11/03/2015 at 09:03

Looks really solid Carla, forward line is mint! Gibson looks a nice POD after nab 1 but just be wary if Lake or Frawley get injured and he's required again as a key pos player. Sandilands an interesting selection but looks just as likely as any at the moment. Nice work.

    Sarah · 11/03/2015 at 09:44

Hi Carla, your team looks great.
The only issues I have with it are Gibson and Naitanui.
Gibson has only had 1 year where he averaged over 90 (last year) and he didn't play the full season. I'd pass on him.
There are reports that Nic Nat is struggling with a back injury. He hasn't played a NAB game so if he plays round 1 at this stage he'll be underdone. That's not the kind of form you want to start in your supercoach team.
Other than that it looks pretty solid at this stage!

    Redgumwon · 12/03/2015 at 15:55

I really like your team here. Like others have said Nic Nat could be a problem. But I've just read at the AFL site Martin (Bris) has gone down with a knee clash at training. I'm not sure how bad it is at this stage. This might bring Luey back into play if he is the sol ruckman for an extended period of time, freeing up some cash

    nick · 15/03/2015 at 01:04

hay Carla give u some advice don't have Gibson he dose not take enough marks and punchs the ball to much don't get points for that u could try bring Ibbotson in in my team I am starting with rocky and beams also if u want some advice on the rucks there are new point system 5 points for a advantage 2 for a hitout advantage so try get mummy jaccobs or martin at any coast those guys score massive and will help out and deledio be warn he suffers from his some problem he had last year and might not play round 1 I would go for a 2 big scorers like franklin or lecra from the eagles he scorers are insaine when he stays on the park sorry for being long just helping u out and try and get cockatoo in frm the cats trust me he will be worth it he is a gun

Derek · 10/03/2015 at 23:27

Give It A Go · 11/03/2015 at 01:02

Will dog dog be playing r1?

    General Soreness · 11/03/2015 at 08:55

Will play NAB 3 by all reports, avoided travel for NAB 2.

Dan · 11/03/2015 at 07:32

Do I do Griffin and a forward rookie, meaning I have 6 gun midfielders and 3 premo forwards or Mitchell in forward and rookie in the middle.

    Derek · 11/03/2015 at 08:51

    Griff or TMitch, no brainer.

    General Soreness · 11/03/2015 at 08:54

    Sarah · 11/03/2015 at 09:45

Depends which rookie you want to select. At this stage it's impossible to answer that question.

Flanno24 · 11/03/2015 at 10:10

Was wondering if I would be able to get any thoughts on my team?

DEF: Shaw, Newnes, Langdon, Pearce, Whitecross, Edwards (Goddard, Saad)
MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, Selwood, Griffen, Swallow, Steven, Rich, Newton (Heeney, Boekhorst, Freeman)
RUCK: Naitanui, Leuenberger (Read)
FWD: Gray, Martin, Swan, Bellchambers, Clark, Hogan (Daniel, Lambert)

    derek · 11/03/2015 at 11:01

you are in for a few sleepless nights with NicNat and Leuy and bellchambers in your rucks.

Steven is a pretty solid M6 and Rich at M7 is battling deep in the middle order. Should get some good scores from that team but would be worried about cash generation to upgrade to pull premo.

30 trades might sound like a lot, but usually the first 4 are used to correct trades, get the right rookies in your team early. You will need to hold at least 6 going into the finals, history will say you need at least 4-5 trades for injuries, leaves about 16 trades to upgrade your mids to premos??!!!

I think you might be one or two premos short. have a look at your team with Rich downgraded to a rookie and see if you can upgrade a couple of mid price players, like Langdon, Luey, bellchambers or Steven to keepers.

      Flanno24 · 11/03/2015 at 11:48

DEF: Smith, Shaw, Newnes, Langdon, Whitecross, Edwards (Goddard, Saad)
MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, Selwood, Griffen, Swallow, Steven, Anderson, Heeney (Vandenberg, Boekhorst, Freeman)
      RUCK: Naitanui, Lycett (Read)
FWD: Gray, Martin, Swan, Bellchambers, Clark, Hogan (Daniel, Lambert)

Do you think that looks better? Cheers

    t_mitch · 11/03/2015 at 11:30

to have newnes as d2 followed by mid prices and rooks, your leaving yourself with too much do do in the backline, downgrade rich and fix that up. ruck line way too risky but fwd line looks nice

Taco MacArthur · 11/03/2015 at 10:55

Hey Jock, just donated buddy love all your work you do on here. Is it to late to get into the doner leagues?

Benjo · 11/03/2015 at 11:00

Hi guys, I am just interested why very few people are sticking with Hodge in their teams this year. He was an absolute jet in the second half of the year. Is it because his durability?
Also, Hodge or Simmo?
Cheers, Benjo

    t_mitch · 11/03/2015 at 11:34

i think you will sleep better at night with simmo, no to hodge for me, might find him being rested a couple games to be ripe for finals which would hurt and we all know clarko is capable of killing supercoach sides with the general sorness and resting of players

      Derek · 11/03/2015 at 20:43

He rests on the bench in last quarter once game is over.

    @SeanySamp · 11/03/2015 at 16:07

Yeah I agree with Mitch. Hodge won't play 22 games because of resting or injury I reckon. Simmo would be my choice.

    General Soreness · 11/03/2015 at 16:15

Hodge and Mitchell will be managed by resting on the pine when games are over before they finish and missing games against weaker opponents. Can almost guarantee each will miss either side of the bye.

Interested in the community's thoughts on:
Kolodjashnij/A.Swallow/Gray vs C.Pearce/Ward/Deledio
I'm leaning towards the 2nd option.

Also, Kolo, Sheppard or Geary?

    and Geary at his price.

go cockatoo from the cats he will play every game and just think how good hill is from the hawks he is stronger and faster and will make u heaps of cash so u can upgrade who ever u want

MarcoPolo · 11/03/2015 at 18:30

What are people doing about ruck coverage!? I'm absolutely stumped with who to put as R3 aha. Cheers

    Pauly Walnuts · 11/03/2015 at 20:47

Marco, I am waiting to see who gets named before the first game, it's that I just Dunno !

    Sarah · 12/03/2015 at 10:22

I'm toying with having Grundy at R3. Yes it's a lot of money, but he'll give me coverage all year and hopefully save me some trades if I get any short term injuries to my R1 or R2.

      MarcoPolo · 12/03/2015 at 11:45

Not bad thinking, however I'm not sure where I'd find the extra dosh for a move like that. I have about 90k and read as R3 at the moment. I could downgrade my M6 for a mid pricer, but I'm not sure messing with my structure at this stage would be a good move.

        Sarah · 12/03/2015 at 11:54

I wouldn't recommend changing your structure if you're happy with it. I've had Grundy slotted in since the start so if I did downgrade him I wouldn't know what to do with the extra $200k!! I picked my rucks first to save ruck trades. Got screwed last year on that line.

    Redgumwon · 12/03/2015 at 16:36

I'm going with the two rucks and hoping a rookie will play early. They say O'Brien at Adelaide might be a chance to get an upgrade and play round one if he keeps playing well

Def: Hibberd, Newnes, Langdon, Kolo, Pearce, Goddard (Edwards, Saad)

Mid: Ablett, Beams, JPK, Wines, Griffen, Newton, Biggs, Anderson (Heeney, Vanderberg, Freeman)

Ruc: Sandilands, Nic Nat (Cox)

Fwd: Bartel, Martin, Bennell, Swan, Hogan, Lamb (Daniel, Lambert)

Thoughts anyone??

Kent · 11/03/2015 at 20:36

G'day boys, would love some feedback

DEF: Smith, Shaw, Newnes, Pearce, Edwards, Goddard, Saad, Newman
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Selwood, Sloane, Priddis, Griffin, Boekhorst, Vandenberg, Freeman, McKenzie, Lambert
RUC: Goldy, Nic Nat, Read
FWD: Gray, Goddard, Swan, Hogan, Laverde, Lonie, Krakouer, Steele

$39,400 left. Thoughts?

    LionGliffen · 12/03/2015 at 00:36

Defence looks reasonably solid as long as a couple of those rookies end up playing rnd 1.

Midfield is really deep to have Griffen at M6. Considering the abundance of good rookies this year in the midfield you'd do well in getting rid of one of the 6 premiums and using the cash in the fwd line which can fit in another quality player like deledio or bartel. Also, some of the rookies like Laverde and Steele are unlikely to start. Moving lambert to the fwd line would be a good idea.

      Cam_H · 15/03/2015 at 01:23

Lambert is rookie listed … ineligible to play AFL until elevated to the Senior List … which is quite possible but hasn't happened yet. Similarly .. Vandenberg and Krakouer. Watch for Senior List elevations or carry at your own risk … or use as Captain loopholes.

Jhawk · 11/03/2015 at 21:21

hey guys struggling with f 4 ? will swan be top ten forward ? mitchall or higgens cheaper ?

    Blueprime · 11/03/2015 at 23:31

I reckon Swan will be top 3 and Mitchell top 10.

    nick · 15/03/2015 at 00:51

try the Frenchman from the eagles his scores are out of sight when he gets going I think swan is looking great on the track at the moment think u should lock him in with lecra or someone like that just thoughts

Blueprime · 11/03/2015 at 23:48

Is there any love out there for Redpath. Hulking guy. Built like Hawkins. 193 cms, 99 kgs. Thought he looked ok in Nab Vs Richmond with 82 SC points. Kicked 5 in Doggies intraclub. 203400. Averaged 43 in 2 games late last year. Looks to me to be a 60+ player and may well have played himself into the Dogs best 22. If named R1 could be a viable option for F5 or F6.

    Blueprime · 11/03/2015 at 23:53

Lots of other Rookies cheaper but they have to get a R1 gig.

Declan · 12/03/2015 at 12:52

If we don't start with Gray and pick him up around his bye, who has to go to bring him in? as no rookies will be that inflated and i don't feel burning two trades is justified as i can lock him in now for the season and not worry about cash

    Redgumwon · 12/03/2015 at 16:06

I'm with you after chatting to a few mates. They said the same thing you've just said. Gray is now a lock for me

    nick · 15/03/2015 at 00:45

have u got nakia cockatoo in your team if not get him in he will be a money maker big time and Anderson maybe I thin cock too will play every game win the raiseing star and be near 350,000 400,000 by the bye rounds he will smash it

MoshedPotatoes · 12/03/2015 at 15:04

I'm taking a huge risk and swapping Robbie Gray for Jack Riewoldt
Tigers first 4 games Carlton, Western Bulldogs, Brisbane Lions, Melbourne
Ports first 4 games Freo (away) ,Swans, North (away), Hawks
The price gap between the two could be significantly shortened and i should be able to swap to Gray with my spare $80k

    nick · 15/03/2015 at 00:47

but u will be losing massive points gray always scores 120 plus against fro swans and north I think Jackie boy is a crap player and only been lucky to win the colemen

Douglas · 12/03/2015 at 15:44

Can I have the community's thoughts on me team

DEF: Smith, Shaw, Newnes, Pearce, Edwards, Goddard, Saad, Newman
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Selwood, Sloane, Griffin, Anderson, Boekhorst, Freeman, Vandenberg, Lambert, Laverde
RUC: Mumford, Nic Nat, Read
FWD: Gray, Goddard, Martin, Swan, Hogan, Lonie, Steele, Krakouer.

I'm not sure wether to keep Mumford or get Goldstein. Also, would it be better to downgrade Martin and upgrade a rookie in the middle to someone like Priddis, or upgrade a defensive rookie to someone like Gibson/Simpson.

    Redgumwon · 12/03/2015 at 16:04

I don't mind your side over all. I've got Goldy but everyone says Mummy has had a great pre season so far. Watch him play on the weekend.

Like you I have Nic Nat at the moment but he could have bigger back issues than we know. If he doesn't play any NAB Cup games he might be the one to off load.

    nick · 15/03/2015 at 00:43

read wont even get a game at the cats not this year anyway next year

    Cam_H · 15/03/2015 at 01:17

Watch your rookies … several players who aren't on their Clubs' Senior Lists and therefore ineligible to play AFL games until elevated. Maybe some may make senior selection prior to the season's start (?).

I have thought about this with the new points system for rucks my team is as follows

backs simpson newness Ibbotson whitecross dalgleish goddard bench saad white

mids ablett rockliff j selwood d beams r gray the nab raiseing star cockatoo. j Anderson I heeney. bench a vendenberg d Hamilton n krkouer

rucks s martin s mumford bench t nakervis

fwds bartel franklin lecras d swan membrey clark. bench Langford lambert

so what u guys think of my team got a monster ruck team and fwds and mids let me know

    Cam_H · 15/03/2015 at 01:02

How much chance do you give Nathan Krakouer elevating himself out of the Rookie List at Port and then making a significant mark on one of the best midfields in the comp'? Vandenberg's rookie listed. Lambert's rookie listed. Personally I'd look for players who are eligible to play if these guys don't become Senior Listed prior to Round 1.

      nick · 15/03/2015 at 13:00

Richmond are going play him straight away as hardwick is really happy how he is going krakouer will find a spot there and he will be a starter with port as his nab cup game proved he can play with port and Vandenberg will replace petrecca don't know how to spell his name the player who went down with a knee as they need a big body to replace him

nick · 15/03/2015 at 01:20

    Cam_H · 15/03/2015 at 01:45

    (a.) Sorry – but please don't shout.
(b.) Cockatoo is iffy for Geelong's starting 22 … if so … could be a great pick. 77 SC points against the Crows warrants serious consideration if it can be repeated regularly.
(c.) Nicholas Naitanui without Dean Cox in the same team has averaged extraordinary numbers in past years. Mild niggles are a concern but will reportedly be playing next NAB. Monitor.
(d.) Bellchambers seems to be the only ruck option at the Dons capable of competing with many of the top names rucks in the competition if NAB form on Giles is to persist. Still a risk, but one worth consideration.

How hopeless are Melbourne. Fancy being beaten by a vastly undermanned Essendon despite it being a NAB cup game. Roosy, what have you done?
