Jock do you think that tom mitchell is worth it
G'day Sean. Here's Higgo's analysis of him against the lions
MITCHELL, Tom (FWD/MID $405,600) Started on the wing and didn’t take long to get into the game. Seemed to be playing a loose tagging role on Rich early and while he did get plenty of it, he wasn’t damaging or highly effective. In my opinion, Mitchell will continue to battle for his spot in this team and thus is not yet a lock.
There is more discussion on Tom in the comments of that thread http://www.jockreynolds.com.au/2015/03/02/nab-sup…
flip a coin if swans get an early injury he will get pushed into the midfield until then prob not worth it but thats my opinion
S Edwards for essendon defender , racked up 79 points in first nab cup and currently on my bench , thoughts??
I would assume many Supercoachers would have taken note Tyler. He is not as good as Jed Anderson but he has similar qualities re good pace and kicking skills. He did well in his first NAB cup game and if he does well again he will make many SC teams as a reserve or better particularly if Essendon cop another whack. Interesting that he is a SC $117 defender playing as a mid fwd.
Like him. Impossible to gauge Dons best 22, but I'd keep him in for now
Like him Tyler
Hi Guys. Does anyone know where I can get "Super coach Points" that includes "Time on Ground"???
Google 'Fan Footy' – click on the game you want, then click on Stats – there is legend underneath that explains each abbreviation.
How many rookies are you guys having in each line?
Lets just include 250<
Field and Bench..
Cheers
No right or wrong answer there, Lucas. Depends on your structures mate
Three backs, six mids, one ruck and two fwds, twelve premiums and six in between.
Hey Lucas,
Right now; Starting – 2/3/0/3, Bench – 2/3/0/2.
I currently have 3 backs, 4 mids, 1 ruck and 4 forwards. I reckon there's a very nice bunch of rooks up front
depends on how you set up and want to spend your upgrade cash mate i have 2 on field in forward and backs and 3 on field in mids
Tony -Fanfooty website
Would think Clurey's JS would be rocky once Trengove returns. Likely to miss round 1 but will be straight in for round 2. Would be able to keep his fitness up nursing a shoulder injury
Hey Jock, Nathan J Brown……. Out or in…?
If your happy with 40-50 ppg go for it. Absolute no for my team. 62 points in the last game was a blinder.
20 x 40 = 800
If Clurey goes 10 x 60 (big if) you're still 200 points down.
Not many people on Priddis. POD? Worth a shot as my M5? Seeing as though I only go 5 deep in my midfield.
Priddis is a great M5. Will be in top 10 for the year and a rock solid keeper for the year. If you have him at M5, you only need to worry about 3 more premiums in the mids. people going with Griffin and Swallow at M5 will still need to trade in another prmium, and the problem with this is as trades start getting thin and there are problems elsewhere in the team that need attention, Swallows and griffin's end up staying in the team all year.
Hey derek,
Noticed with a few posts you're not a fan of Griffen. Love to know the reasoning behind this. Cheers mate.
Reckon Griffen will go gangbusters at GWS. New team on the up, stronger midfield, he should be a keeper, and he's a bargain ATM.
I'm in agreement with you Super_Freak.
Expecting Griffen to hit 110+ and become a keeper.
priddis m5 good spending in mids thats for sure
I see lots jumping on the lamb chop train. Buyer beware hes legendary for a good game followed by a spluttering turd. Even if he’s picked in round one he won’t be in my team. Think he will be in & out. But he’s definately a talent.
Spluttering terd in nab 1 for Eagles , i not going near that lamb chop , I like my chops consistently tasty , no thanks
Jock aren't you concerned that Heneey will get the vest? Should he be a lock if he gets the vest?
Jock – can one of you legends come up with a potential sub from each club.
I.E. Boekhurst for Carl as Malthouse doesn't play kids or Freeman for Coll as he is a burst player and maybe used for 1-2 quarters or Lamb for WCE as Simpson doesn't play kids
*I am making this up but an example of who you think may be a sub and why.
I reckon Touk Miller should be considered @117K averaging 70% TOG and 71 Points. Probably has a better chance than Boekhorst and a couple of others on the cheatsheet.
Agree with you Realist. He’s been at the top part of my watch list since the draft. Valid mid bench spot if he makes the round 1 team.
Suns could yet give us a scoring rookie ruck in Brooksby as well.
Bulldogs have a few rookies on my watchlist. Webb in FWD and Hamling in DEF are worth keeping an eye on. Plus Fuller DEF will be available some time during the year (he is training now)
How did Durdin RUC/DEF go yesterday?
I don't believe Durdin played Derek
Was on Hawks list for 3 years, went ok at VFL level and Beveridge was at Hawthorn for same period and he is the protype of today's modern footballer. Wait to see him get upgraded
I'm staying away from any doggies players. They're in for a rough year
I have swallow at mid 5! Is this a prob … Helped with my structure , but now doubting it a little
Hello community, I have had great quarrels creating this team and now wish for some expert insights from you people. Please, reply and comment and tell me what you think. I am not sure on a few players (Mitchell and Clark for example) but believe I have a few POD's that could make the difference in this game we love.

I love the Priddis pick. Don't get me wrong, I love Ollie Wines as well, the kid is a beast. But be careful about selecting him, Port have a tough run early up. Hence why I didn't start with him.
agreed, he is on my watchlist to upgrade to during the season
As a big Hawks fan I love Burgoyne, but he isn't in my SC team. Im amazed that he is as expensive as he is. Hawks have got a fairly tough start, Cats, Bombers, Bogs, Port (away), Kangas so if you really still like the look of him after round 5, just before he plays GWS, Saints and MELB, you should get him a bit cheaper.
Remember, Burgoynes scoring was a bit inflated due to mid injuries at Hawks (he was playing mid), he is a bit of a utility and as such moves positions a lot, which affects his consistency SC wise.
Thoughts on my team?
DEF: Smith, Shaw, Newnes, Hampton, Edwards, Goddard, Viojo-Rainbow, Saad
MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, Selwood, Sloane, Priddis, Boekhorst, Freeman, Vandenberg, Anderson, Steele, Lambert
RUC: Goldstein, Nic Nat, Read
FWD: Goddard, Martin, Swan, Mitchell, Hogan, Laverde, Lonie, Krakouer.
I'm not sold on Tom Mitchell. Should I downgrade him to a rookie and upgrade a rookie in the midfield? I really like the look of Robbie Gray but can't find a way to squeeze him in. Any suggestions?
matthew do you even know what your talking about?
Looks solid for this stage. Priddis is a gun, and Newnes looks to be the best candidate for a DEF breakout this season
Agree, nothing wrong with selecting Matthew Priddis from the get go. He's one of those players that you get what you pay for. Solid 108-112 ave from him.
I’m really surprised there’s no mention of Lang from Geelong. He looked classy in his one NAB game for 2 goals and 83 SC points. Yes he’s a little pricey at $159k but if named rnd 1 is surely a lock.
Really liked the look of him in NAB1.
Spots to be filled at Geelong with the departures of Christensen & Varcoe too.
Just wanted to hear some thoughts on pols bye strategy, I'm leaning towards s fair few 3rd round bye players so I can straight trade them to players that already had there bye (ie the highly underrated Nathan jones) good theory or are there better ways around it???
honourable mention to INP lov your work mate
So I've gone with a slightly different approach with my midfielders this year, I've gone with GAJ and Rocky then I put wines, Griffen and swallow as M3,4,5. This opened up some Money for my fwd and def and I can still have my 2 preferred premo mids. I think all three have great potential to be premos this year and make some extra cash. Can anyone see any real problems with this strategy?
D4 is my biggest debate. It will depend a lot on Whitecross getting a game Round 1 or the look of C Pearce as cheaper options. This might let me have a $200k midfielder instead of a Rookie in the guts – ie NVB, Crisp, Acres etc. Otherwise I'm happy with the guns 'n rookies I have.
DEF: Simpson, Shaw, Newnes, Henderson, (Hamling, Goddard, Edwards, Saad)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendlebury, JPK, Priddis, Wines, (Heeney, Vandenberg, Freeman, Boekhorst, Steel, Lambert)
RUCS: Sandilands, Nic Nat (Cox)
FWDS: Gray, Goddard, Martin, Swan, Salem, Hogan, (Lamb, Krakouer)
I believe I have 14 year long keepers, and plenty of rookies (whoever they maybe) to generate enough cash to upgrade my other 8 premiums.
Any suggestions?
My midfield right now is Gaz, Pendles,Fyfe,J.Selwood,Griffen,A.Swallow,J.Steven,Heeney do you think this is viable or better off throwing in an NVB or Rich somwhere. Have D.Martin,Zorko, Swann plus 3 rooks and K.Simpson,H.Shaw plus 2 mid pricers and 2 rooks. Any input would be great cheers
thats a completley different approach than me redd. my current mids are Ablett, Rocky, Pendles, Selwood, Griffen, and 6 rookies. why have i got 6 rookies in the mids you ask? cos midfield rookies earn the cash mate, guaranteed. last year i ran 4 premos, 1 mid and the rest rookies and finished a bees phallus out of the top 1k, With the mids you have picked you will surely start with a bang, but its a long season, and there are generally less rookies in the fwd and def lines that you can turn into cash quickly so dont miss out on those opportunities.
Cheers danny thanks for the reply mate this is my first year really trying to look at strategy instead of just pucking the players id like to have a beer with. Hopefully ill be able to generate enough cash from the rooks ive got to top uo my defence
I did exactly the same last year dannyyboyy. Started with only 4 premium mids and finished just outside the top 1000 too. I'm repeating it this year with Gaz, Pendles, Beams and Griffin. You gotta get all of the good rookies no matter where they're located and the mid rookies are the best!
This is great in theory Sarah, but that's 7 mid rookies and I just cant find them atm, (assuming any dpp is on other lines), would love to see your picks for those. Although I'm cynical by nature so may just be that coming through, (i'm not even convinced that Heeney is a lock, despite Jocks positivity)!
At this early stage I have Van Berlo, Newton, Anderson, Heeney, Boekhorst, Vandenberg and Freeman as my midfield rookies. Others I'm watching closely are Miller, Lang, Jansen, Gore, Kavanagh, Boston, Dumont, Ellis-Yoleman, Biggs, Sheed, Cripps.
You only need to find 4 decent rookies who will be contributing to your score. The rest are bench material for coin.
We'll see what happens when round 1 teams are announced, but there's usually a decent bunch of rookies. It's looking like there'll be more in the forward line too so maybe 1 or 2 mid/fwd rookies will flow into the midfield if it turns out there aren't enough pure mid rookies that you want to select. Anyway, that's my current plan. It worked well last year even though I had to bring in Tyson as a rookie correction in round 2.
thoughts on starting H.Shaw? would he start in your team?
currently in mine but im not confident that ill keep him. def and ruck lines are the hardest for me at the moment
I don't mind starting him trent.
The premiums i'm considering down back; Simpson, Shaw, Hodge & Hibberd.
First picked in defence, absolute gun
At this stage he is my number 1 defender so he is a definate starter in my team. He now appears to be over his anger issues that he had at Collingwood.
deledio v martin v zorko???
Trust ya gut mate, ATM I have Lids n Dusty, but that can change before the first bounce
love all of em muss, depends on structure and your belief in them though. Reckon lids is the safest bet, Dusty could be anything bit not convinced of his mid role or capability at the moment so watching closely and mr magnificent could be let off the leash and go gangbusters as he did at the tail end of last season so offers the best value if continues that form. Best of luck with your choice.
117200
join up fellas, full of some fairly good players looking for a bit of a challenge
im in champ
Me too, thanks mate
if we pick Higgins are we picking him as a keeper or someone to make us cash?
I currently have him at D4 but considering saving $$ and downgrading to someone like Geary.
Thoughts?
Do it , then have a beer and celebrate !
Be expecting Higgins to be a keeper at that price. Not for me.
Hi T woof ,
I would like dinner and a Vino b4 he Farks my team……He still has not bought dinner or Vino!!! Get Farked Higginsiississs
Bahahahahahahahaha Gold as always Dools!!
Dont see many teams with the SloaneRanger in them.
Is there a reason for this? I currently have him and JPK at M3 and M4, with Griffen at M5 and the rest of my midfield being rookies. Should I stick with this?
stick with youre gut mate
He has the first bye and I bet that if Supercoachers don't have him from the start, Sloane will be one of the first midfielders picked in round 12.
I have had both since day 1, but griff is my M6.
H.Shaw C.Enright J.Newnes C.Pearce H.Goddard A.Saad ( D.Vojo Rainbow S.Edwards)
G.Ablett T.Rockcliff S.Pendlebury O.Wines R.Griffen N. VanBerlo J.Anderson I.Heeny ( B. Boekhorst A. Vandeberg K.lambert forward swing )
N. Naitanui M.leunberger (M.cox doughnut forward swing for Bellchambers)
R.Gray D.Martian H.Bennel D.Swan T.Bellchambers J.Hogan ( M. Clark N. Krakouer )
love your opion not sure about pearce and Van Berlo
still tossing up between deledio and martin who would you guys go with??
Lids is more reliable jimmy. But i have both.
Trust ya gut mate, ATM I have both
Tough question jimmyv.
Would have to stay on the fence and say both are solid options. I don't think you're doing anything wrong starting with either. As Pauly Walnuts said, go with your gut!
Both are going to be top 6 fwds, or close to, so go with the cheaper option and hope the other drops a bit.
beams or rockcliff
wines or crouch
martian or deledio would love your thoughts
Rockliff
Wines
Lids
Rockliff
Crouch
Either, both valid selections.
Beams better value but Rockliff should at least be an upgrade target.
Crouch over Wines for me, looks like Wines may take more of an outside role atm, (blame his Mums diet!)
Lids over Martin also, even if he gets the rumoured more mid time, not convinced he's suited to the role.
Beams, neither (crouch if have to pick one), martin
Is Heeney really a lock??? I'm yet to be convinced he's in the Swans best 22 to start the season. Even if he is he's prime vest-material.
Massive vest material. If he played for any other team a part from Hawthorn he would be a lock. Will get games for sure cause he's a freak but i reckon sub a lot
He is also capable of pumping out a ton though I reckon. At this stage I'd say he is a bench lock, mainly because he is close to basement price and none of the other basement priced midfield rookies are screaming pick me
He's worth having on your bench. Shows he can handle and rack up SC points at senior level. Even if vest, feel he has potential to get 65-70 points if brought in for a half.
And yes, that's a lot of wishful thinking. But Swans are high on him. If named R1 that will confirm he'll be worth the selection.
Agree, looks a midfield bench option at worst.
Community, thoughts on my team appreciated. I note that some rookies need to be elevated and may change.
DEF: Smith, Gibson, Hibberd, Newnes, C.Pearce, S.Edwards, (H.Goddard, Saad)
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Selwood, Beams, Griffin, Anderson, Heeney, Boekhorst, (Vandenberg, Laverde, Lambert)
RUC: Jacobs, Mumford (Read)
FWD: Franklin, Martin, Swan, Hogan, J.Steele, T.Lamb (Lonie, Krakouer)
Cheers
Well structured team nicko. Very good mate.
Only possible negative is a bit heavy on in rucks, but then set and forget a valid option too, and both rucks picked look due to go close to holding their avg under new scoring system.
Liking this nicko! Structure fits well with the options available. Only question marks i'd put to you are Smith as D1 (potential for better value down back, but that's more of a structure/risk v reward view than anything and a good pick) and buddy as starting f1 given he could start slow but i'm nit-picking now. Like the ballsy fwd line too, best of luck to you mate!
I reckon Jason Holmes should be added to one of those empty ruck positions Jock, better chance than any of the others listed to get at least an early game or two, particularly with all the injuries the Saints seem to be accumulating
Agree
546809 have a few spots left need only dedicated supercochers!!
I'm curious to know why people think Goddard is likely to play. The Saints are bleeding players, true, and Newnes is likely to play 100% in the guts, agreed, but they still have experienced guys waiting in the wings who will get preference over newbies. Richardson has also stated his intention to play an established defense this year and that Goddard will face some stiff competition for his spot; this seems consistent with the teams we've seen during the NAB Challenge, and Goddard very likely only got the call-up in NAB2 due to the raft of injuries, plus McKenzie has not even been sighted thus far; this all screams a lack of commitment to bringing in first year players. I hope I'm wrong though! Or is there something that I'm missing?
Yeah you would've thought that if they were ultra keen to play kids, then Fisher may have been shown the door, or at least traded.
I think we're all just hoping.
I think its more down to a question of 'who the hell do we put in as our rookies down back' Sabsy. Given the crumbs we've been offered, Goddard looks a good option; physically ready to go, can play forward or back, held his own in NAB and is so keen he complained about the loading in pre-season banging down the coaches door. Word is that they love him down here in Seaford and that his attitude, self-belief and commitment to training alone will see him get games this year. Worth a punt compared to the rest on offer unless your running 6 deep down back which is Jaws like shark behaviour! Locked in for me as 1 of 3 rookies (others are Saad and Edwards atm with a close eye on Maynard also)
What do u think?
DEF
S.Burgoyne, M.Hibberd, S.Hurn, J.Newnes, J.Lever, S.Edwards, (H.Goddard, D.Viojo-Rainbow)
MID
G.Ablett, S.Pendlebury, J.Selwood, R.Griffen, J.Steven, D.Rich, B.Newton, J.Anderson,(I.Heeney, N.Krakouer, A.Saad)
Ruck
J.Giles, M.Leuenberger, (T.Read)
FWD
R.Gray, P.Ryder, D.Swan, T.Michell, C.Salem, J.Hogan, (J.Lonie, C.Daniel)
Trade Burgoyne for malceski
love the Hurn pick down back, not seen too much of him in teams yet but should do well. maybe swap Saad into the back for Lever (unlikely to go from r1). Rucks are ballsy but you've got some insurance with Paddy boy (assuming the asada mess is cleared up). Salem spudded it big time so would look for alternatives there as well, goodmluck mate, nice that you've taken some mid-price risks in the mid-line also, think this is needed to win the big one this year, its just picking the right ones (not convinced by Rich though but he's burnt me twice now so it's got personal!)
I think Newnes and Priddis are good choices, I would be getting Robbie Gray in the team. who in the ruck Nic nat and Luenberger
Anyone got thoughts on redpath
Well, he is quite cheap at $204,300 and also got an average of 63 in the NAB challenge, wouldn't get him personally but it's up to you whether you put him in or not.
Thoughts?
DEF: Gibson, Jaensch, Frawley, Lumumber, Patfull, C. Delaney (Mantiet, Saad)
MID: Ablett, R.Gray, Dangerfield, Griffin, Omeara, J.Steven, Van Berlo, J.O'Rourke (Vandenburgh, Menadue, Krakour)
RUCK: Mumford, Lycett (R.O'brien)
FWD: Franklin, Swan, J.Martin, S.McKernan, M.Clark, Templeton (H.Goddard, K.Lambert)
