Jock do you think that tom mitchell is worth it

    Kev · 09/03/2015 at 09:48

G'day Sean. Here's Higgo's analysis of him against the lions

MITCHELL, Tom (FWD/MID $405,600) Started on the wing and didn’t take long to get into the game. Seemed to be playing a loose tagging role on Rich early and while he did get plenty of it, he wasn’t damaging or highly effective. In my opinion, Mitchell will continue to battle for his spot in this team and thus is not yet a lock.

There is more discussion on Tom in the comments of that thread http://www.jockreynolds.com.au/2015/03/02/nab-sup

    themisfitssc · 10/03/2015 at 21:36

flip a coin if swans get an early injury he will get pushed into the midfield until then prob not worth it but thats my opinion

Tyler · 09/03/2015 at 09:27

S Edwards for essendon defender , racked up 79 points in first nab cup and currently on my bench , thoughts??

    PDP · 09/03/2015 at 09:49

I would assume many Supercoachers would have taken note Tyler. He is not as good as Jed Anderson but he has similar qualities re good pace and kicking skills. He did well in his first NAB cup game and if he does well again he will make many SC teams as a reserve or better particularly if Essendon cop another whack. Interesting that he is a SC $117 defender playing as a mid fwd.

    Kev · 09/03/2015 at 09:49

Like him. Impossible to gauge Dons best 22, but I'd keep him in for now

    jockreynolds · 09/03/2015 at 09:59

    Like him Tyler

      Tyler · 09/03/2015 at 20:14

Jock after 3 months how do I cancel the podcast subscription?

Tony · 09/03/2015 at 09:28

Hi Guys. Does anyone know where I can get "Super coach Points" that includes "Time on Ground"???

    pauly walnuts · 09/03/2015 at 09:39

Google 'Fan Footy' – click on the game you want, then click on Stats – there is legend underneath that explains each abbreviation.

Lucas · 09/03/2015 at 09:31

How many rookies are you guys having in each line?
Lets just include 250<
Field and Bench..
Cheers

    Kev · 09/03/2015 at 09:51

No right or wrong answer there, Lucas. Depends on your structures mate

    PDP · 09/03/2015 at 09:52

Three backs, six mids, one ruck and two fwds, twelve premiums and six in between.

    @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 16:14

    Hey Lucas,

    Right now; Starting – 2/3/0/3, Bench – 2/3/0/2.

    Tyler · 09/03/2015 at 21:40

I currently have 3 backs, 4 mids, 1 ruck and 4 forwards. I reckon there's a very nice bunch of rooks up front

    themisfitssc · 10/03/2015 at 21:37

depends on how you set up and want to spend your upgrade cash mate i have 2 on field in forward and backs and 3 on field in mids

Kev · 09/03/2015 at 10:01

Would think Clurey's JS would be rocky once Trengove returns. Likely to miss round 1 but will be straight in for round 2. Would be able to keep his fitness up nursing a shoulder injury

    I N Pieman · 09/03/2015 at 10:20

He’s a trap Kev. He was Puss last year. No way I’m going near him. Fringe back up type with no JS at all.

      @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 16:06

Agree INP. Had him last year, and could never get him out. Big NO for me also.

Darrin · 09/03/2015 at 10:09

Hey Jock, Nathan J Brown……. Out or in…?

    I N Pieman · 09/03/2015 at 10:23

If your happy with 40-50 ppg go for it. Absolute no for my team. 62 points in the last game was a blinder.

    Sh00ter · 10/03/2015 at 13:41

    20 x 40 = 800

If Clurey goes 10 x 60 (big if) you're still 200 points down.

King Menace · 09/03/2015 at 10:24

Not many people on Priddis. POD? Worth a shot as my M5? Seeing as though I only go 5 deep in my midfield.

    derek · 09/03/2015 at 11:34

Priddis is a great M5. Will be in top 10 for the year and a rock solid keeper for the year. If you have him at M5, you only need to worry about 3 more premiums in the mids. people going with Griffin and Swallow at M5 will still need to trade in another prmium, and the problem with this is as trades start getting thin and there are problems elsewhere in the team that need attention, Swallows and griffin's end up staying in the team all year.

      @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 16:12

      Hey derek,

Noticed with a few posts you're not a fan of Griffen. Love to know the reasoning behind this. Cheers mate.

        Super_Freak · 09/03/2015 at 16:44

Reckon Griffen will go gangbusters at GWS. New team on the up, stronger midfield, he should be a keeper, and he's a bargain ATM.

          @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 17:03

I'm in agreement with you Super_Freak.

Expecting Griffen to hit 110+ and become a keeper.

            PDP · 09/03/2015 at 19:56

I agree. Griffin wiil be 110+

              PreviouslyOnLost · 09/03/2015 at 21:26

I'm with you Derek (assuming you're not going with Griffin). Griffin looks good on paper but he is going to a team with a lot of players primed to become supercoach elites such as Ward, Greene, Treloar and to a lesser extent, Shiel and Coniglio. He will cop the number 1 tag each week and there is an injury risk. He had an amazing year 2 years back with the 116 ave, but he's next best are 108 and 106. if he gets to the 105-110 mark he will be good value from his starting price but I personally can't see that happening. IMO i would want him to average 110-115 and be a top 10 mid if I picked him. He's obviously very popular but if I was going for a player in that price range I'd much rather take a punt on MCrae, Wines, Crouch becoming the next big SC must have.

In saying that, I haven't ruled him out of my calculations, just voicing why I'm not overly keen on him… and he doesn't suit my structure/playstyle

                Tyler · 09/03/2015 at 21:44

I'm not convinced he will get the tag, especially with all the players you just named. But I totally agree with the injury part. If he can stay healthy, I don't see why you wouldn't keep him.

    themisfitssc · 10/03/2015 at 21:39

priddis m5 good spending in mids thats for sure

I N Pieman · 09/03/2015 at 10:31

I see lots jumping on the lamb chop train. Buyer beware hes legendary for a good game followed by a spluttering turd. Even if he’s picked in round one he won’t be in my team. Think he will be in & out. But he’s definately a talent.

    r2d2 · 09/03/2015 at 13:03

Spluttering terd in nab 1 for Eagles , i not going near that lamb chop , I like my chops consistently tasty , no thanks

@emhoy · 09/03/2015 at 10:42

Jock aren't you concerned that Heneey will get the vest? Should he be a lock if he gets the vest?

Shezza · 09/03/2015 at 11:34

Jock – can one of you legends come up with a potential sub from each club.

I.E. Boekhurst for Carl as Malthouse doesn't play kids or Freeman for Coll as he is a burst player and maybe used for 1-2 quarters or Lamb for WCE as Simpson doesn't play kids

*I am making this up but an example of who you think may be a sub and why.

Realist · 09/03/2015 at 11:38

I reckon Touk Miller should be considered @117K averaging 70% TOG and 71 Points. Probably has a better chance than Boekhorst and a couple of others on the cheatsheet.

    I N Pieman · 09/03/2015 at 11:42

Agree with you Realist. He’s been at the top part of my watch list since the draft. Valid mid bench spot if he makes the round 1 team.

      Realist · 09/03/2015 at 13:04

Suns could yet give us a scoring rookie ruck in Brooksby as well.

derek · 09/03/2015 at 11:38

Bulldogs have a few rookies on my watchlist. Webb in FWD and Hamling in DEF are worth keeping an eye on. Plus Fuller DEF will be available some time during the year (he is training now)

How did Durdin RUC/DEF go yesterday?

    King Menace · 09/03/2015 at 11:42

I don't believe Durdin played Derek

    Shezza · 09/03/2015 at 19:34

Was on Hawks list for 3 years, went ok at VFL level and Beveridge was at Hawthorn for same period and he is the protype of today's modern footballer. Wait to see him get upgraded

    Tyler · 09/03/2015 at 21:47

I'm staying away from any doggies players. They're in for a rough year

r2d2 · 09/03/2015 at 13:00

I have swallow at mid 5! Is this a prob … Helped with my structure , but now doubting it a little

    King Menace · 09/03/2015 at 13:38

I love the Priddis pick. Don't get me wrong, I love Ollie Wines as well, the kid is a beast. But be careful about selecting him, Port have a tough run early up. Hence why I didn't start with him.

      Fair'dinkum · 09/03/2015 at 13:52

Thanks King Menace, I appreciate the reply and yes Ollie Wines is another one of my tougher picks.

      dannyyboyy · 09/03/2015 at 19:01

agreed, he is on my watchlist to upgrade to during the season

    derek · 09/03/2015 at 18:16

As a big Hawks fan I love Burgoyne, but he isn't in my SC team. Im amazed that he is as expensive as he is. Hawks have got a fairly tough start, Cats, Bombers, Bogs, Port (away), Kangas so if you really still like the look of him after round 5, just before he plays GWS, Saints and MELB, you should get him a bit cheaper.

      Dan · 10/03/2015 at 01:41

Remember, Burgoynes scoring was a bit inflated due to mid injuries at Hawks (he was playing mid), he is a bit of a utility and as such moves positions a lot, which affects his consistency SC wise.

King Menace · 09/03/2015 at 13:53

Thoughts on my team?

DEF: Smith, Shaw, Newnes, Hampton, Edwards, Goddard, Viojo-Rainbow, Saad
MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, Selwood, Sloane, Priddis, Boekhorst, Freeman, Vandenberg, Anderson, Steele, Lambert
RUC: Goldstein, Nic Nat, Read
FWD: Goddard, Martin, Swan, Mitchell, Hogan, Laverde, Lonie, Krakouer.

I'm not sold on Tom Mitchell. Should I downgrade him to a rookie and upgrade a rookie in the midfield? I really like the look of Robbie Gray but can't find a way to squeeze him in. Any suggestions?

    Matthew Long · 09/03/2015 at 15:18

Get rid of of all of your risky picks, there are too many eg. Priddis and Newnes. If you think that sounds insane, I was in the top 1000 last year and I avoided these "potential" high scorers and put my money into players that I knew would provide all through the season. Also, sorry for being critical, your team is very alike to the other teams posted in these threads. Change it up a bit.

      Do your research · 09/03/2015 at 15:33

Matthew, Priddis was 5th overall SC scorer (2,479) in 2014.

      sweede · 09/03/2015 at 15:56

Stick to cricket on the PS4 Looongy! Priddis is a jet

      I N Pieman · 09/03/2015 at 17:27

Not sure where you’ve be hiding Longy but Newnes is in every team. And for good reason. I don’t believe theres anything wrong with picking Priddis either. Unless your shane Woewodin they don’t hand out brownlows to spuds. He’s a very safe & durable pick.

      Straya · 09/03/2015 at 18:38

I wouldn't say prides and newnes are risky picks…

        Straya · 09/03/2015 at 18:38

        Priddis*

      PDP · 09/03/2015 at 20:01

You were only 1000 because you you didn't take a risk and you were obviously lucky.

    King Menace · 09/03/2015 at 15:57

matthew do you even know what your talking about?

      Super_Freak · 09/03/2015 at 17:15

Looks solid for this stage. Priddis is a gun, and Newnes looks to be the best candidate for a DEF breakout this season

        @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 18:46

Agree, nothing wrong with selecting Matthew Priddis from the get go. He's one of those players that you get what you pay for. Solid 108-112 ave from him.

The One Ring · 09/03/2015 at 16:01

I’m really surprised there’s no mention of Lang from Geelong. He looked classy in his one NAB game for 2 goals and 83 SC points. Yes he’s a little pricey at $159k but if named rnd 1 is surely a lock.

    @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 16:10

Really liked the look of him in NAB1.

Spots to be filled at Geelong with the departures of Christensen & Varcoe too.

Sc newby · 09/03/2015 at 16:35

Just wanted to hear some thoughts on pols bye strategy, I'm leaning towards s fair few 3rd round bye players so I can straight trade them to players that already had there bye (ie the highly underrated Nathan jones) good theory or are there better ways around it???

honourable mention to INP lov your work mate

    I N Pieman · 09/03/2015 at 17:37

No worries newby. If you can still assemble the team you want with a majority in the final bye round then that’s a great strategy. But just remember begin with the end in mind. Don’t compromise the players you want all season for that strategy. It will only be an advantage for 2-3 rounds. All the premos I currently have I think are a huge chance to finish in the top 10 of their line.

      Sc newby · 09/03/2015 at 18:15

Yeah my mids bat fairly deep, thinking a mid pricer like neale at m7 and Newton as m8 just depends what fwd and def rookies surface as solid round 1 players, don't really see the fuss over the byes because the points lost one week I could make up the next but if ppl plan around it well and I don't I've already lost

      Mids currently
Ablett, pendels, Selwood, priddis, Jones, griffin, neale, Newton (Heeny, vandemberg, lambert)

        I N Pieman · 09/03/2015 at 18:54

By far the most important line is the midfield. Lachie Neale could breakout put it's not a play i'd ever make. Guns & Rookies in the mids. Because there is plenty of both. My breakout selections are all in the backline. They are blokes I feel are under priced & will go higher. And because it's a puss line anyway & we have no idea who the top 10 defenders will be. To give you an idea ATM Newnes is my D1. But my Midfield is GAJ Rocky Pendles Selwood JPK & Danger with 5 rookies. Put Lambert in your fwd line. And if he's playing in round 1 & not sub put him on the park. Think Barlow/Miles. Gun.

          Sc newby · 09/03/2015 at 22:01

Yeah currently have him and Krakoeur and didn't quite fit in my fwd but not convinced Krakoeur is best 22 material ATM, he said himself he still has a long way to go fitness wise, downgrade target maybe. Newnes was my d1 for a long time and probably will end up there, defence my biggest worry actually after I decided cheap rucks would probably screw me over. Surely I will settle on my team soon, I'm probably on version 234753 by now

            Dools · 09/03/2015 at 22:13

            Hi SC Newby,
The hardest part of the strategy mentioned by INP is not filling the Mids with Premo's…..It is having performers in the Ruc Dept. and Players on the field in Forward line. Picking Cheap Defender's is real hard So if you pursue this sacrifice down back but the other lines have to be good…. By that I mean Nil Ruck Cover Trade your way out. and be prepared to trade 11 to 12 times in defence, Do not pick injury/ rested players up front or rucks who have not showed up yet, remembering that the NAB is not the guide that you need , players going 50% and young 'un's trying to impress in this short competition to raise their profile.

              Sc newby · 12/03/2015 at 12:40

My back line is currently extremely worrying but isn't everyone's??? Lol currently going 3 mid price 3 rookies but I believe I have a very solid mid structure and a fwd line that will produce a healthy balance of points and cash. I wouldn't be surprised if swan gray and Martin go top 3 fwds this yr and I'm starting all 3. Rucks are godly and nic nat which I think should be an ok combo, hoping nic nat does enough for me to trade him to a mummy/Jacobs around the byes

              Thoughts???

                Dools · 13/03/2015 at 14:18

                Hi Mate,
Team Dools Fools: has R1 Mummy R2 Goldy R3 Read
                Fwds : F1 Zorko F2 Swan F3 Bontempelli F4 Salem??? F5 Clark!! F6 Hogan F7 To be confirmed F8 Lambert
Mids Im happy with; M7 Newton
Def Newnes D1 Clancee D4 the rest subject to change
                To the Fridge!!

Urds · 09/03/2015 at 18:25

So I've gone with a slightly different approach with my midfielders this year, I've gone with GAJ and Rocky then I put wines, Griffen and swallow as M3,4,5. This opened up some Money for my fwd and def and I can still have my 2 preferred premo mids. I think all three have great potential to be premos this year and make some extra cash. Can anyone see any real problems with this strategy?

derek · 09/03/2015 at 18:32

D4 is my biggest debate. It will depend a lot on Whitecross getting a game Round 1 or the look of C Pearce as cheaper options. This might let me have a $200k midfielder instead of a Rookie in the guts – ie NVB, Crisp, Acres etc. Otherwise I'm happy with the guns 'n rookies I have.

DEF: Simpson, Shaw, Newnes, Henderson, (Hamling, Goddard, Edwards, Saad)

MIDS: Ablett, Pendlebury, JPK, Priddis, Wines, (Heeney, Vandenberg, Freeman, Boekhorst, Steel, Lambert)

RUCS: Sandilands, Nic Nat (Cox)

FWDS: Gray, Goddard, Martin, Swan, Salem, Hogan, (Lamb, Krakouer)

I believe I have 14 year long keepers, and plenty of rookies (whoever they maybe) to generate enough cash to upgrade my other 8 premiums.

Any suggestions?

    I N Pieman · 09/03/2015 at 19:46

Don't mid your team at all Derek. Different structure to mine. Nut nobody is right or wrong yet. Sandi will be a huge POD. With rival clubs pulling out the cheque book he could be a huge win. 185967 join the Piefloaters league for regular contributors on the site. SC Newby get in as well.

Nice team Derek. Very similar structure to mine so I guess I'm bound to say it.
I'm aiming for fourteen keepers this year too.
Going for Langdon with my D4 at the mo, very impressed with him last year and I think he can step up again this time around.

Redd · 09/03/2015 at 18:35

My midfield right now is Gaz, Pendles,Fyfe,J.Selwood,Griffen,A.Swallow,J.Steven,Heeney do you think this is viable or better off throwing in an NVB or Rich somwhere. Have D.Martin,Zorko, Swann plus 3 rooks and K.Simpson,H.Shaw plus 2 mid pricers and 2 rooks. Any input would be great cheers

    dannyyboyy · 09/03/2015 at 18:53

thats a completley different approach than me redd. my current mids are Ablett, Rocky, Pendles, Selwood, Griffen, and 6 rookies. why have i got 6 rookies in the mids you ask? cos midfield rookies earn the cash mate, guaranteed. last year i ran 4 premos, 1 mid and the rest rookies and finished a bees phallus out of the top 1k, With the mids you have picked you will surely start with a bang, but its a long season, and there are generally less rookies in the fwd and def lines that you can turn into cash quickly so dont miss out on those opportunities.

      I N Pieman · 09/03/2015 at 19:33

In years gone by dannyboy your absolutely right. But this year the rookies in the Fwd line could be better than the midfield. That is assuming your have the likes of Lambert Krak Steele in your fwd line, because they are DPP. If you add the likes of Clarke, Hogan, Salem, Karnezis, Daniel, Laverde, Lamb & Lonie & it's an unusual year for Fwd Rookies. Also Edwards Goddard jnr & Saad have sprung up in defence. The question is their job security. I don't mind what Redd is up to because of those options.

        Redd · 09/03/2015 at 21:16

Ah Pieman appreciate your continued advice.. i do feel more confident about the prospects of the fwd rookies this year and always lookin for a different strategy thanks again mate

        seaford scouse · 10/03/2015 at 23:36

spot on INP, lots to like in fwd rookies selextion atm, salem looked awful though and awkwardly priced so not considering him atm. Would love to know if Caleb Daniel has been kidnapped as well! Anyone with inside info. at the kennel, was first rookie on my list after the draft now….?

      Redd · 09/03/2015 at 21:10

Cheers danny thanks for the reply mate this is my first year really trying to look at strategy instead of just pucking the players id like to have a beer with. Hopefully ill be able to generate enough cash from the rooks ive got to top uo my defence

I did exactly the same last year dannyyboyy. Started with only 4 premium mids and finished just outside the top 1000 too. I'm repeating it this year with Gaz, Pendles, Beams and Griffin. You gotta get all of the good rookies no matter where they're located and the mid rookies are the best!

        seaford scouse · 10/03/2015 at 23:41

This is great in theory Sarah, but that's 7 mid rookies and I just cant find them atm, (assuming any dpp is on other lines), would love to see your picks for those. Although I'm cynical by nature so may just be that coming through, (i'm not even convinced that Heeney is a lock, despite Jocks positivity)!

          Sarah · 11/03/2015 at 08:22

At this early stage I have Van Berlo, Newton, Anderson, Heeney, Boekhorst, Vandenberg and Freeman as my midfield rookies. Others I'm watching closely are Miller, Lang, Jansen, Gore, Kavanagh, Boston, Dumont, Ellis-Yoleman, Biggs, Sheed, Cripps.
You only need to find 4 decent rookies who will be contributing to your score. The rest are bench material for coin.
We'll see what happens when round 1 teams are announced, but there's usually a decent bunch of rookies. It's looking like there'll be more in the forward line too so maybe 1 or 2 mid/fwd rookies will flow into the midfield if it turns out there aren't enough pure mid rookies that you want to select. Anyway, that's my current plan. It worked well last year even though I had to bring in Tyson as a rookie correction in round 2.

trent · 09/03/2015 at 18:37

thoughts on starting H.Shaw? would he start in your team?

    dannyyboyy · 09/03/2015 at 18:56

currently in mine but im not confident that ill keep him. def and ruck lines are the hardest for me at the moment

    @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 19:15

I don't mind starting him trent.

The premiums i'm considering down back; Simpson, Shaw, Hodge & Hibberd.

    Shezza · 09/03/2015 at 19:36

First picked in defence, absolute gun

      PDP · 09/03/2015 at 20:32

Agree with Shaw as my number one defender.

    PDP · 09/03/2015 at 23:07

At this stage he is my number 1 defender so he is a definate starter in my team. He now appears to be over his anger issues that he had at Collingwood.

muss · 09/03/2015 at 18:57

deledio v martin v zorko???

    Pauly Walnuts · 09/03/2015 at 20:30

Trust ya gut mate, ATM I have Lids n Dusty, but that can change before the first bounce

    seaford scouse · 10/03/2015 at 23:56

love all of em muss, depends on structure and your belief in them though. Reckon lids is the safest bet, Dusty could be anything bit not convinced of his mid role or capability at the moment so watching closely and mr magnificent could be let off the leash and go gangbusters as he did at the tail end of last season so offers the best value if continues that form. Best of luck with your choice.

join up fellas, full of some fairly good players looking for a bit of a challenge

    dannyyboyy · 09/03/2015 at 19:25

    im in champ

    The Ranger · 09/03/2015 at 22:49

    Me too, thanks mate

tom · 09/03/2015 at 19:27

if we pick Higgins are we picking him as a keeper or someone to make us cash?
I currently have him at D4 but considering saving $$ and downgrading to someone like Geary.
Thoughts?

    Pauly Walnuts · 09/03/2015 at 20:18

Do it , then have a beer and celebrate !

      I N Pieman · 09/03/2015 at 20:32

Agreed Pauly. That's a bottle of vodka & lobster moment. Higgins promises heaps & falls over or goes crap. Geary looms as a good option for cash gen & a quick skip up to a premo.

        tom · 09/03/2015 at 21:04

        cheers boys

    @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 21:15

Be expecting Higgins to be a keeper at that price. Not for me.

      Dools · 09/03/2015 at 22:21

      Hi T woof ,
I would like dinner and a Vino b4 he Farks my team……He still has not bought dinner or Vino!!! Get Farked Higginsiississs

        @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 22:45

        Bahahahahahahahaha Gold as always Dools!!

odwc · 09/03/2015 at 19:39

Dont see many teams with the SloaneRanger in them.

Is there a reason for this? I currently have him and JPK at M3 and M4, with Griffen at M5 and the rest of my midfield being rookies. Should I stick with this?

    Ben Bretel · 09/03/2015 at 20:31

    stick with youre gut mate

    PDP · 09/03/2015 at 23:11

He has the first bye and I bet that if Supercoachers don't have him from the start, Sloane will be one of the first midfielders picked in round 12.

    Dan · 10/03/2015 at 01:59

I have had both since day 1, but griff is my M6.

Ben Bretel · 09/03/2015 at 20:30

H.Shaw C.Enright J.Newnes C.Pearce H.Goddard A.Saad ( D.Vojo Rainbow S.Edwards)

G.Ablett T.Rockcliff S.Pendlebury O.Wines R.Griffen N. VanBerlo J.Anderson I.Heeny ( B. Boekhorst A. Vandeberg K.lambert forward swing )

N. Naitanui M.leunberger (M.cox doughnut forward swing for Bellchambers)

R.Gray D.Martian H.Bennel D.Swan T.Bellchambers J.Hogan ( M. Clark N. Krakouer )
love your opion not sure about pearce and Van Berlo

jimmyv · 09/03/2015 at 20:32

still tossing up between deledio and martin who would you guys go with??

    PJ8 · 09/03/2015 at 20:52

Lids is more reliable jimmy. But i have both.

    Pauly Walnuts · 09/03/2015 at 20:54

Trust ya gut mate, ATM I have both

    @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 21:17

    Tough question jimmyv.

Would have to stay on the fence and say both are solid options. I don't think you're doing anything wrong starting with either. As Pauly Walnuts said, go with your gut!

    Dan · 10/03/2015 at 02:01

Both are going to be top 6 fwds, or close to, so go with the cheaper option and hope the other drops a bit.

Ben Bretel · 09/03/2015 at 20:32

beams or rockcliff
wines or crouch
martian or deledio would love your thoughts

    PJ8 · 09/03/2015 at 20:53

    Rockliff
    Wines
    Lids

    @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 21:18

    Rockliff
    Crouch
    Either, both valid selections.

    seaford scouse · 09/03/2015 at 22:11

Beams better value but Rockliff should at least be an upgrade target.
Crouch over Wines for me, looks like Wines may take more of an outside role atm, (blame his Mums diet!)
Lids over Martin also, even if he gets the rumoured more mid time, not convinced he's suited to the role.

    Dan · 10/03/2015 at 02:02

Beams, neither (crouch if have to pick one), martin

Chris · 09/03/2015 at 20:34

Is Heeney really a lock??? I'm yet to be convinced he's in the Swans best 22 to start the season. Even if he is he's prime vest-material.

    PJ8 · 09/03/2015 at 20:54

Massive vest material. If he played for any other team a part from Hawthorn he would be a lock. Will get games for sure cause he's a freak but i reckon sub a lot

    phil · 09/03/2015 at 21:16

He is also capable of pumping out a ton though I reckon. At this stage I'd say he is a bench lock, mainly because he is close to basement price and none of the other basement priced midfield rookies are screaming pick me

    throttlefinger · 09/03/2015 at 22:10

He's worth having on your bench. Shows he can handle and rack up SC points at senior level. Even if vest, feel he has potential to get 65-70 points if brought in for a half.

And yes, that's a lot of wishful thinking. But Swans are high on him. If named R1 that will confirm he'll be worth the selection.

      @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 22:46

Agree, looks a midfield bench option at worst.

nicko · 09/03/2015 at 22:00

Community, thoughts on my team appreciated. I note that some rookies need to be elevated and may change.

DEF: Smith, Gibson, Hibberd, Newnes, C.Pearce, S.Edwards, (H.Goddard, Saad)
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Selwood, Beams, Griffin, Anderson, Heeney, Boekhorst, (Vandenberg, Laverde, Lambert)
RUC: Jacobs, Mumford (Read)
FWD: Franklin, Martin, Swan, Hogan, J.Steele, T.Lamb (Lonie, Krakouer)

Cheers

    @t_woof · 09/03/2015 at 22:42

Well structured team nicko. Very good mate.

    Dan · 10/03/2015 at 02:05

Only possible negative is a bit heavy on in rucks, but then set and forget a valid option too, and both rucks picked look due to go close to holding their avg under new scoring system.

    seaford scouse · 11/03/2015 at 00:10

Liking this nicko! Structure fits well with the options available. Only question marks i'd put to you are Smith as D1 (potential for better value down back, but that's more of a structure/risk v reward view than anything and a good pick) and buddy as starting f1 given he could start slow but i'm nit-picking now. Like the ballsy fwd line too, best of luck to you mate!

seaford scouse · 09/03/2015 at 22:06

I reckon Jason Holmes should be added to one of those empty ruck positions Jock, better chance than any of the others listed to get at least an early game or two, particularly with all the injuries the Saints seem to be accumulating

    Derek · 09/03/2015 at 22:49

    Agree

David · 09/03/2015 at 22:26

546809 have a few spots left need only dedicated supercochers!!

Sabsy · 09/03/2015 at 23:17

I'm curious to know why people think Goddard is likely to play. The Saints are bleeding players, true, and Newnes is likely to play 100% in the guts, agreed, but they still have experienced guys waiting in the wings who will get preference over newbies. Richardson has also stated his intention to play an established defense this year and that Goddard will face some stiff competition for his spot; this seems consistent with the teams we've seen during the NAB Challenge, and Goddard very likely only got the call-up in NAB2 due to the raft of injuries, plus McKenzie has not even been sighted thus far; this all screams a lack of commitment to bringing in first year players. I hope I'm wrong though! Or is there something that I'm missing?

    Dan · 10/03/2015 at 02:06

Yeah you would've thought that if they were ultra keen to play kids, then Fisher may have been shown the door, or at least traded.

    Deadly · 10/03/2015 at 10:56

I think we're all just hoping.

    seaford scouse · 11/03/2015 at 00:20

I think its more down to a question of 'who the hell do we put in as our rookies down back' Sabsy. Given the crumbs we've been offered, Goddard looks a good option; physically ready to go, can play forward or back, held his own in NAB and is so keen he complained about the loading in pre-season banging down the coaches door. Word is that they love him down here in Seaford and that his attitude, self-belief and commitment to training alone will see him get games this year. Worth a punt compared to the rest on offer unless your running 6 deep down back which is Jaws like shark behaviour! Locked in for me as 1 of 3 rookies (others are Saad and Edwards atm with a close eye on Maynard also)

Ray · 10/03/2015 at 20:43

What do u think?
DEF
S.Burgoyne, M.Hibberd, S.Hurn, J.Newnes, J.Lever, S.Edwards, (H.Goddard, D.Viojo-Rainbow)
MID
G.Ablett, S.Pendlebury, J.Selwood, R.Griffen, J.Steven, D.Rich, B.Newton, J.Anderson,(I.Heeney, N.Krakouer, A.Saad)
Ruck
J.Giles, M.Leuenberger, (T.Read)
FWD
R.Gray, P.Ryder, D.Swan, T.Michell, C.Salem, J.Hogan, (J.Lonie, C.Daniel)

    Ray · 10/03/2015 at 20:49

    Trade Burgoyne for malceski

seaford scouse · 11/03/2015 at 00:30

love the Hurn pick down back, not seen too much of him in teams yet but should do well. maybe swap Saad into the back for Lever (unlikely to go from r1). Rucks are ballsy but you've got some insurance with Paddy boy (assuming the asada mess is cleared up). Salem spudded it big time so would look for alternatives there as well, goodmluck mate, nice that you've taken some mid-price risks in the mid-line also, think this is needed to win the big one this year, its just picking the right ones (not convinced by Rich though but he's burnt me twice now so it's got personal!)

Sherryn · 11/03/2015 at 16:42

I think Newnes and Priddis are good choices, I would be getting Robbie Gray in the team. who in the ruck Nic nat and Luenberger

Simon · 11/03/2015 at 22:06

Anyone got thoughts on redpath

    Luke · 30/03/2015 at 20:24

Well, he is quite cheap at $204,300 and also got an average of 63 in the NAB challenge, wouldn't get him personally but it's up to you whether you put him in or not.

josh · 13/03/2015 at 12:57

Thoughts?
