LekDog's Gingers! Great concept.
Vlaustuin, Roughy, Jack Riewoldt, ….. geez. Going to be tough to get a robust team my man.
Looking forward to your videos mate.

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 14:59

Sometimes hope is all it takes

jockreynolds · 03/03/2015 at 21:40

Impressive buttock structure there as well Lek. Absolutely loved it mate and gagging for next week's installment!

Josh · 03/03/2015 at 22:18

hey lekdog! awesome vid, wondering who you would pick in order out of griffen, brad crouch and olli wines?

    Mitch · 04/03/2015 at 09:27

    This!

      @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:00

      Griffen, Wines, Crouch for me

@Da_Mad_Irishman · 03/03/2015 at 22:42

Well done Lek, got a good laugh out of that – quality underpants a must in this game

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:00

    Thanks mate 😉

PreviouslyOnLost · 03/03/2015 at 22:42

Puns. I Lovett.

Onya LekDog!

But yeah, Mitch Clark will suck a lot of people in, it's early days but there looks to be a lot of better cheaper options down forward. Over the last few days beams have jumped on my radar. I've currently got the big 4 (Gaz/pen/rock/fyfe) but may go rocky to beams so that I can go from rookie to mid pricer/midprice to premo down back.

Keep up the good work

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:01

Agree with everything above mate, thanks a lot

MarcoPolo · 03/03/2015 at 22:50

jeez some more great advice. there is so much knowledge and experience in this community, the hardest part is not getting sucked in and changing my team right after a video or article aha!

Would love your thoughts on my current lineup. Can't make my mind up whether i go to M6 or M7…. Also contemplating griffen over crouch. Thanks in advance!

Def: Kelly, Newnes, Hampton, Langdon, Edwards, Goddard (Saad, Hamling)

Mid: Gaz, Pendles, Fyfe, Sloane, Crouch, Rich, Anderson, Heeney (Vandenburg, Lambert, Freeman)

Rucks: Ryder, Nic Nat (Read?)

Forwards: Bartel, Martin, Swan, Mitchell, Salem, Hogan (Daniel, Kraqouer)

    James · 04/03/2015 at 08:02

    Crouch over Griffen

      @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:02

Looks like a very solid team but I'm not sold on Ryder, will lose money and won't have a massive output with Lobbe there

    t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 00:42

    Hey MarcoPolo,

    Griffen over Crouch for me.

      MarcoPolo · 05/03/2015 at 07:57

Yeh having doubts over Ryder now. Many seem to think he could drop in price fast due to his tough opening fixtures.. Initially had luey but his first showing is making me lean towards a set and forget strategy. And yep still 50/50 with crouch and Griffen haha. Will wait to see how griffen looks this week. Cheers fellas!!

        t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 14:12

I disagree that he'll drop in price solely because of a tough fixture. To me, it'd be more the fact of what role he plays. Was Essendon's No.1 Ruckmen, now we're unsure where he slots in at Port. Permanent fwd, or forward/relieving ruckmen.

I'm not worried about Leuenberger's output in the NAB matches, as long as he stays healthy. Stays healthy, then all good. Will hit 85 > in the Home and Away Season.

General Soreness · 03/03/2015 at 22:56

Gold Lek, do you go the red jocks when your subbed out?

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:02

    You know I do mate

Donavan · 03/03/2015 at 23:10

Great stuff Lekdog.

Love to hear your approach on the consideration for the bye rounds. At which part of the selection process is the bye rounds considered.

Do you consider just the total number of players with bye rounds, or just your premos, with the thoughts that trades will occur in the first 10 rounds.

Love to hear how you factor in the bye rounds, and at which point you consider it.

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:04

It does a play a factor however I don't weigh it as heavily. As long as the my premo byes are reasonably separated I'm happy, I also assume that i'll make some trades before the byes.

    Thanks for watching mate

throttlefinger · 04/03/2015 at 02:04

Soooo damn funny. Well done, Lek!

Maybe something you can tackle next posting…bye planning (now or later?). Interested to hear your take on how much you consider this with your structures.

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:06

Basically as long as my premos are reasonably separated, I'd rather have three slightly weakened teams than say one massively depleted team and two slightly better ones.
I am still tackling to players in particular from Geelong that are making it hard to select them both

      throttlefinger · 04/03/2015 at 21:45

      Thanks, my man.

Yeah, outside Jelwood it's a hard bunch. Bartel may sneak in my front line if he's playing in the same areas as Nab1. And PTA has been a tough one. A lot of unknown swirling.

Tully46 · 04/03/2015 at 02:54

First time I’m getting on this website, I was wondering if you guys had any improvements on my team:

Back: Burgoyne,hibberd,newnes,fisher,whitecross,dick

(Goddard,saad) I know I have a few Saint players!

Midfield: Ablett, pendles, danger,Griffen, Langford, Hallahan, Newton. Freeman.(vanderberg, lambert, krakoeur)

Ruck: maric, Nic Nat.(nankervis)

Forward:Gray,goddard,swan,Mitchell,hogan, Daniel

(Karnezis,Steele)

$26,900

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:09

I don't think Whitecross will play much this year so I'd downgrade him to a rookie and use that 80k+ your 26k to upgrade a langdon or hallahan. I think you need one more premo in the mids, 4 isn't enough. Perhaps also downgrade newton to a rookie and then upgrade langdon to a super premo.

Otherwise solid team, I like the bolstered fwd and def line aswell as the bold decision to start Gray

    randomcliche · 04/03/2015 at 20:59

Well bud, last years winner went with a M4 structure. You could beat last years score spending $5.4m with rookies and couple of premium player, so don't be afraid to go that path. Langford (not Langdon) has upside, and risk, will no doubt be better for the hawks this year, but may pick a tagging role or 2, which ain't what I'm looking for. He could just as easily be worth 530k by seasons and I be sitting here still looking silly. Bontempelli(?spelling) is another that fits this bill. Doggies need another Mid or 2 given departures and injuries. Whitecross has to be D6 at most. I'm not convinced on any of the premo rucks (above Nic Nac) given the score changes.
I'd rather NVB, Cripps or Biggs over Hallahan/Newton. Freeman didn't perfrom that well week 1, can't see him warranting an onfield spot atm. Bench maybe. Cheers

      Stickman · 04/03/2015 at 21:25

All solid points but Freeman managed 59 points with 53% TOG. If a player averages 60 usually hit 300k. So worst case scenario Freeman gets limited opportunity and makes 180k. Anyway, just my thinking.

King Menace · 04/03/2015 at 07:55

Is Toby Greene a good option?

Beerz09 · 04/03/2015 at 08:40

Awesome vid Lekdog; this is my first year joining the Jock community so I would love some advice on my current team from you experienced blokes (this is my 5th draft)

DEF: M. Hibberd, J. Newnes, H. Shaw, B. Whitecross, H. Goddard, B. Smedts (B. Goodes, Z. Jones)

MID: G. Ablett, S. Pendlebury, D. Beams, A. Gaff, O.Wines, D. Rich, I. Heeney, B. Boekhorst (N. Freeman, J. Anderson)

RUC: N. Naitanui, M. Leuenberger (J. Hannath)

FWD: D. Martin, R. Gray, D. Swan, T. Lamb, J. Hogan, T. Membrey (C. Daniel, M. Clark)

$36,000 remaining

I know Boekhorst, Leuenberger, Lamb, Membrey & Clark did not have the best NAB cup games on the weekend do you yhink these blokes will improve. Thanks in advance..

    Sarah · 04/03/2015 at 09:06

With regards to the rookies, it was only their first game of the NAB. See how they go in games 2 and 3. If they perform poorly I'm sure there'll be other rookies that will put their hands up for selection so I wouldn't be too concerned.

      pauly walnuts · 04/03/2015 at 09:39

Agree, you can get easily sucked in on 1 performance especially when a team has all their guns out. Hey Sarah, are you the Sarah the Richmond supporter who I hear on radio throughout the year?

        Sarah · 04/03/2015 at 10:18

Hey Pauly, Nah I'm a crows supporter who only posts within the Jock Reynolds Community.

          pauly walnuts · 04/03/2015 at 11:15

cheers, anyway I enjoy you SC analogy. Who do you like from the Crows – Sloane,Crouch ,Jacobs, Henderson ? they seem to be the most talked about.

            Sarah · 04/03/2015 at 11:25

            Thanks Pauly!
I've currently got Sloane and Van Berlo in my team. Although Sloane has been in and out along with Fyfe, Selwood and JPK. I just can't decide on that last midfield spot!!
I'll be watching Jacobs closely and may bring him in at some stage if I get a ruck injury (I like the set and forget option) as I think he's priced at his peak and I'm not confident he could maintain it. It depends on your strategy though. If you like the set and forget too then it doesn't matter if he loses value so long as he's scoring reasonably well.
I love Crouch, but I'm not into having a break out contender in my midfield. I prefer Proven guns and rookies in there.
Danger could also be a smokey to break back into proven premium status after his tough year last year.

              MarcoPolo · 04/03/2015 at 12:07

Is VB too good to leave out value wise? He would be M7 for me. Am I better off upgrading an Anderson to him? Talking pure cash generation wise.

                Sarah · 04/03/2015 at 12:12

                Hi Marco,

There are some people who think he isn't value, but in my opinion, if he's been relieved of the tagging duties… he's an experienced rookie priced player who can average in the 80's. That to me says value!! But I'll still be watching his performance in the next two NAB games closely to see what his role will be under Walsh.

                  MarcoPolo · 04/03/2015 at 12:18

Hmm ok. I'm so undecided on the VB/Rich types. At this stage gut says no. Cheers Sarah

                @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:12

If Anderson averages say 70 and Van Berlo averages 80 Anderson will still give more cash more quickly because of the way break evens work.
I'm avoiding 200k players for the most part because of this

                  Sarah · 04/03/2015 at 15:22

Hey Lekdog. Yeah, that's a good point. At the moment I have both in my team. Can't wait for round 1 teams to be announced. Nothing is set in stone til then!

                  Phil · 04/03/2015 at 17:27

True Lekdog but on the flip side if you're strategy is too quickly upgrade to a fallen super premium like Fyfe or Rocky, Van Berlo might make it possible a week earlier than Anderson would have. Value vs Points. FWIW I have the 2 of these guys currently M7 & M8 as I see both as great picks

    @RobMcLellan2 · 04/03/2015 at 09:30

Goodes is still on the Dogs rookie list, he is a lock if elevated but I don't see it happening unfortunately. They are in rebuild mode and will want to get more games into youngsters I imagine.

Backline probably needs at least 1 less onfield rookie and preferably 2. Personally I don't think you can only go M3 this year, need to bat deeper. Whitecross probably won't play in the Hawks best 22, Goddard yet to play (hoping he does!). I don't think we'll get 4 or 5 playing rookies come round 1, but I hope I'm wrong!

Midfield looks fine, I wouldn't touch Rich personally but plenty who like him for some reason, perhaps as a stepping stone? Gaff is an interesting choice!

Rucks look fine, plenty of upside in those guys.

Gray is a risk due to price perhaps, but he is a gun. I will be looking to trade him in a bit cheaper hopefully, but he will certainly be a top tier forward. I hope Caleb gets some games!

    General Soreness · 04/03/2015 at 09:40

Welcome Beerz to the community. It looks like you have been reading some articles based on the rookies you have named. A couple of points regarding to your team and in general.

Ideally as SC players we are looking to fill our teams with as many top 10 players on each line as we can by seasons end. Therefore if you are paying top dollar for a player you want them to be there all season (barring injury) a Keeper.

Therefore in your midfield you would be looking to start with a minimum of 5 keepers, I do not expect that Gaff or Rich will reach Keeper status and therefore you may wish to look to upgrade at least one or both of these players.

From a selection point of view – B Goodes is rookie listed and hasn't been upgraded will only be used as a stop gap. WhiteX is unlikely to be best 22 and therefore not worthy of selection (NAB pending of course). I understand your desire for Ruck back up but Hannath will only play if Sandi goes down, therefore is only a valid if you select Sandi as a starting Ruck, otherwise it is too much coin on your bench.

    The rest mate is solid.

    I N Pieman · 04/03/2015 at 10:45

Agree with Sarah. Gaff is not a risk worth taking. Never delivers enough to warrant a mid spot.

    Beerz09 · 04/03/2015 at 13:25

Thanks guys I am fairly new to this so will take all comments on board ( here goes draft 6 ). Cheerz

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:13

I'd be dropping Smedts, just isn't a supercoach performer in my eyes, use that cash to turn Gaff into a 600k player and your laughing.

Sarah · 04/03/2015 at 09:05

Hi Beerz09,
In my opinion you've got too many risks in your team, namely Smedts, B Goodes and Gaff. Gaff is very inconsistent and will rely heavily on the other eagles mids to feed him the ball. Smedts and Goodes currently aren't in their respective teams best 22 so could cause you a bit of pain if they're not selected to play. If it were me, I'd look to downgrade Goodes to a cheap rook and upgrade Smedts with the remaining cash. You could also look at downgrading Rich to a Van Berlo or Sheed to enable Gaff to be upgraded to a proven premium midfielder.
My two cents.
Love the forward line. I think Gray and Martin will be fantastic starting picks this year.

@RobMcLellan2 · 04/03/2015 at 09:24

Great article and good for a laugh in the morning! Griffen has been in and out of my team a lot, just not sure I can take him over Wines or Cotchin at around the same price… he is on of my favorite footballers though, I just love that he looks like Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails 🙂

I think Mitch Clark is going to be our best forward rookie this year, if he can put together 11 games an average 72 – 85 as a forward rookie option then that is a great result, he will be mooing early and loudly and will give us some reasonable scores on field as well. Looking at his passed history I think these results are very achievable as he has done it before for quite a number of seasons. As the 2nd tall he should have more freedom and more likely monster a 2nd tier defender. Plus he can play ruck as well and can do so quite well, he will get hit outs to go with his other stats.

Unless he is injured or spuds it up over the next two games of the NAB or isn't named round 1, he is a lock in my team. Plenty of other riskier or worse picks such as Karnezis or Saad who will average 45, barely make you any money and be in and out of the team due to form.

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:14

Yeah i'll likely cave and pick Clark but it breaks all of my rules doing so haha

    Phil · 04/03/2015 at 17:36

Agree 100% on Clark, just think people there's gonna be a game or 2 down at Skilled Stadium where Geelong win by 70+ points and Clark kicks 6 goals ala J-Pod rookie year. He has proven at AFL level that he is a very good player, I rather bank on that than an 18 year old who has dominated against other 18 year olds.

@emhoy · 04/03/2015 at 09:28

Agree Sarah we get sucked in to much by 1 nab cup game. This happened to me last year so I won't be changing my team until after nab 3 and I have all the stats.

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:15

Agreed, my team hasn't changed with the exception of almost committing to Bartel

Keeper27 · 04/03/2015 at 09:38

Great Job Lek, love it.
any chance i can get your thoughts on my team??

DEF: Shaw, Taylor, Newnes, Lumumba, Macmillan, Whitecross (Harris/Saad)
MID: GAJ, Pendles, Griffen, Crouchy, Swallow, Biggs, Lang, Vandenberg (Andersen/Freeman/Miller)
RUC: Goldy, Nic Nat (Soldo)
FWD: Buddy, Dusty, Swanny, Bonts, Salem, Hogan (Karnezis/Lambert)

Rookies aren't locked and got about $15K in the kitty

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:18

Don't like Lumumba (been playing a run with role this preseason). My sources are saying that Whitecross and Biggs aren't in their teams plans at this stage.
Downgrade whitecross and upgrade lumumba, or downgrade both and upgrade biggs to a super-premo is my advice.
I like the other selections though

Tully46 · 04/03/2015 at 09:46

$26,900

Thanks for your input guys!

    General Soreness · 04/03/2015 at 10:58

Welcome Tully, first time here, make sure you read all the articles, player write ups etc, solid work on your team to date.

Comments – I am not a big fan of non playing, high cost bench rucks, they arent making money and are not providing coverage therefore Nankervis needs to be changed to a rookie. If you want cover either allow enough spare $$ or get a DPP ruck. Read Mick the Mad Irishmens post on team building it includes a passage about rucks.

There is a bit too much risk on your mid line, I would consider downgrading Fisher to a rookie and upgrade Langford to a premo. Also as much as I like Hallahan I do not see him as a keeper, he may be a stepping stone, but you might achieve the same output from a lower priced rookie such as Cripps, freeing up some cash.

Just my thoughts, good luck in SC 2015.

      Tully46 · 04/03/2015 at 11:26

Thanks for the input!! Will give the articles a read.

      Tully46 · 04/03/2015 at 13:43

I thought about what you said about fisher and I think he’s bit of a smokey. I know age and playing for a more than likely losing team doesn’t play in his favour, but he averaged 92 last season. I know it was only 7 games, but he’s a been proven performer before. I just feel for his price and his potential to become a premo, I think he’s worth the risk.

        Sarah · 04/03/2015 at 13:47

        Go with your gut Tully!

          throttlefinger · 04/03/2015 at 23:29

Agreed. Your gut is your best friend.

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:23

Whitecross won't play much I don't think so i'd downgrade him and dongrade one of Hallahan, Newton, Langford and then upgrade one of the remaining two.

Side would go from Hallahan, Newton, Langford to say Sloane, Hallahan, Anderson

Too many midpricers in the midfield is far too risky in my opinion.
Like the rest of your selections though

    throttlefinger · 04/03/2015 at 23:28

Would kindly disagree with my friend the General regarding Nankervis. He's hardly high cost. He is in fact around the cost you would pay for a rookie ruck ($124K). And with Tippett's penchant for injury and Pyke lukewarm performances, he could get a start and earn you some money. Any bench who has a chance to play that's under $150K is worth a go.

But agree with the General about your midfield. Lot of risk there, especially Langford. Love the forward line. Gray is too pricey in my opinion. Would wait on him. Feel Titch is a risk given he's never played more than 15 games. Get the allure. Too much risk. Would maybe downgrade him to Salem then bump up your mid with another premo.

That's my 2cents, Tully. Good luck, my man.

      dognino · 04/03/2015 at 23:34

Hard to pick a rookie ruck from the swans, I think every tall has been named for the nab tomorrow night, gonna be a lucky dip who gets game time throughout the season I think

        throttlefinger · 04/03/2015 at 23:43

It's all about luck, dognino. Know that Nanky is viewed highly and worked his ass off in the preseason. Yet, performance always matters. At his price, worth the risk. Especially if you're not going with Luey or a cheaper ruck as your R2.

      Tully46 · 05/03/2015 at 13:15

I took in some of your advice and I’ve chopped and changed again.
      Back: Burgoyne,hibberd,fisher,newnes,dick,hamling(saad,Goddard)
      Midfield: gaj,pendles,jpk,griffen,crouch,van berlo,Newton,Anderson(vanderberg,freeman, lambert)
      Rucks:maric.nic Nat (o”brien)
      Forwards: Gray,Bartel, Swan,Mitchell, hogan,Daniel(karnezis, Steele)

      10k left over.
Thanks for the midfield tips! Looks much stronger now.

Loved the vid Lek. What a glorious exit that was. Agree with your opinion on Zac Smith. He's a burnman. Also not all that keen on Mitch Clarke despite his tasty price. I'll only be picking him if Lambert & Krak don't get a game.

    @LekBlog · 04/03/2015 at 15:23

    Makes sense to me Pieman

Nice work Lekdog. Great to hear you’ve got a player or two in only 1.5% of teams that’s the beauty of having your own theories and doing your own research. With risk comes reward! What do you reckon the likelihood of a long term injury of a senior Richmond player would be? Given Lambert needs promotion?

    I N Pieman · 04/03/2015 at 14:08

There is a promotion spot available for the Tigers without an injury. I think it's looking between him & Matt Thomas for the spot.

    Sarah · 04/03/2015 at 14:41

Cheers Bundy Bear! I just joined. I think it'll be fun!!!

      Bundybear · 05/03/2015 at 14:11

Thankyou Sarah. Look forward to the challenge

    @emhoy · 04/03/2015 at 15:07

I tried to join but says that league does not exist. I have spots left in my league as well if anyone wants to join code is 693903

      BundyBear · 05/03/2015 at 14:09

It does exist. Just click on the Perfect9 button on the left hand side enter league number 854944 and that should get you in.

Rick · 04/03/2015 at 15:40

Amazing video lek, after every article my mental muscles are restraining me from making changes. I would like some advice on my team though. This will be my 2nd year of supercoach and I finsihed top 5000 last year, I couldve gotten higher but I didnt know how to deal with the bye rounds. Anyway, heres my team. Would love help.

DEF: Simpson, Shaw, Enright, Newnes, Lever, Goddard/ Rainbow, J. Koladjashnij
MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, Priddis, Watson, S. mitchell, NVB, Biggs, Boekhurst/ Smith, Freeman, Lambert
RUCKS: Naitanui, Luenberger/ Cox
Forwards: Deledio, Goddard, Franklin, Swan, Clark, hogan/ Lamb, Daniel

    Blueprime · 05/03/2015 at 02:37

Hi Rick.Reckon you are on the right track. Half your team and mine and just about everyones team are about the same considering we are 30 days out from Round 1. I will post my team for you. It is fairly settled at present @ 9:10:11 for the byes and might help you with a player or two. I have gone with a reasonable Forward line, risky Rucks, very lite on in Defense and used the extra cash in the Mids. Hope this is of assistance and good luck this season with your team.
Shaw Newnes Geary Henderson Hamling McKenzie Edwards Goddard
Ablett Pendlebury Selwood Dangerfield Wines Swallow van Berlo Anderson Vandenberg Freeman Dumont
    Naitanui Leuenberger Read
Delidio Bartel Swan Mitchell Salem Clark Karnezis Lambert
If Lambert and Vandenberg do not get elevated off the Rookie list will go with Hogan, Laverde, Daniel, Steele, Heeney, Cripps, Boekhorst and no doubt there will be others. Cheers.

Nick · 04/03/2015 at 17:03

Good job Lek!
any chance i could get you thoughts?

Def: Simpson, Burgoyne, Shaw, Newnes, Lever, Goddard (viojo rainbow, maynard)

Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, Beams, Wines, Swallow, Van Berlo, Cripps, Biggs (vandenbery, laverde, freeman)

Ruck: Natanui, Bellchambers (nankervis)

Fwd: Bartell, Martin, Swan, Mitchell, Hogan, Lambert (Daniel, Krakouer

    Derek · 04/03/2015 at 18:46

I like the idea of NVB and Cripps in the midfield, low risk for a good return.

    dognino · 04/03/2015 at 19:26

Any cash leftover? Dangerous ruck situation if one goes down early in the season the trade options will be very limited unless you have enough to upgrade. All other lines look strong, 3 x 200k mid rooks is probly too much

      Nick · 05/03/2015 at 08:11

      90,000 remaining!
      thanks dognimo

    Donavan · 04/03/2015 at 22:04

    Good team.

Concern about having to rely on Bellchambers without cover.

I would downgrade one of Swallow or Burgoyne, and upgrade Bellchambers.

      Nick · 05/03/2015 at 08:11

thanks Donavan! will probably get rid of bellchambers

jimmy7 · 04/03/2015 at 18:04

what rookies are people going with in their backlines???

    dognino · 04/03/2015 at 19:29

Whoever gets named R1 and looks to have a bit of JS from , Goddard, Mckenzie, Edwards, manboob, dick, lever, z.jones

    Donavan · 04/03/2015 at 21:57

Goddard is perhaps the only lock at this early stage. Time will tell, I suspect the weaker teams will be happier to get games into their rookies, whereas teams like Geelong tend to try each rookie for 2-3 games then rest them.

Although not a rookie, I would watch Whitecross, as he could earn a spot in the Hawks defence. The Hawks are a great team, but have a couple of spots up for grabs in defence.

Ryan · 04/03/2015 at 18:59

I believe this years smokey will be Toby Greene. No one seems to have him. GWS easy run at the start and he won't get tagged. Thoughts?

    scano · 04/03/2015 at 19:10

if Tobys last 7 games from last season are anything to go by he will be an absolute steal. (I think his average was 127 in his last 7 games.) I personally like the look of him and if he fits in with your structure, I would definitely go for it mate.

      Cam_H · 04/03/2015 at 19:47

I'm really struggling with 'set and forget' midfielders versus 'fallen premiums' + 'beasts'. Currently I've got a very conventional midfield with four old reliables, but I'm tempted to kill off Pendles, Jelwood, and JPK for Wines, Crouch, and pick-your-GWS-gun and load up elsewhere … but John Bruyn's warnings are ringing in my ears.

        Jayden · 04/03/2015 at 19:58

Don’t forget that griffin is now at the club and will take ball away from them

        Donavan · 04/03/2015 at 21:53

        Cam,

I would hang onto Joel Selwood, particularly for the early part of the season, his a gun, Geelong have a hard early draw, and when the going gets tough Selwood comes to the rescue…and Im not a Geelong supporter.

Pendles & JPK are both also guns, but I could see Wines over-taking them possibly.

          Cam_H · 05/03/2015 at 10:33

Cheers Donavan, thanks for your affirmation on Joel Selwood.

(Today) I'm leaning more toward putting up with the cost of the 'proven' top tier players and taking risks elsewhere. Still got Andrew Swallow sitting there at M5, but he's (currently) the only midfield premium under $600K.

Jayden · 04/03/2015 at 20:27

Backs: Simpson, Smith, Newnes, Docherty, Goddard, McKenzie (Maynard, Saad)
Mids: Ablett, Pendlebury, Selwood, Ward, Rich, Newton, Biggs, Freeman (Heeney, Boekhorst, Payne)
Rucks: Goldstein, Naitanui (Read)
Fwds: Goddard, Martin, Swan, Bontempelli, Clark, Hogan (Steele, Lambert)

Thinking of changing ward to wines
Rookies will change depending on Rd 1 rookies named
99k left in the bank
Rip into it

    Stickman · 04/03/2015 at 21:18

Not sure if Smith can have as a good a year as last year but definitely possible. Question mark over Docherty's position this year. I see him taking more midfield time with McLean gone. I personally have swapped Rich for Wallis, due to Libba's injury and that he wont play as a tagger this year. Would monitor Bontempelli in the NAB due to inconsistent second year players. Overall a good looking team. Good luck with season 2015

      Jayden · 04/03/2015 at 21:37

      Thanks mate
I just moved ward to wines
      Docherty to Langdon
Biggs to a rookie just not sure where I should spend the 290k?

    Donavan · 04/03/2015 at 21:48

    Nice team Jayden,

I have a concern over Docherty & Bontempelli (at his price). But lets watch throughout the NAB, but I would be looking for options.

The rest of the team i like.

      Jayden · 04/03/2015 at 23:35

      Yeah I made some changes
      Ward to wines
Docherty to Langdon ( don’t know what to do with the backs)
      Biggs to a rookie
So now have 289k in the bank not sure if I should upgrade bontempelli or D5
If I upgrade bontempelli then I’ll have 140-200k left
      Thanks aswell

    t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 00:10

    Hey Jayden,

I wouldn't look at upgrading Bontempelli, he'll be one of the few shining lights for the Doggies in a hapless 2015. Take out his first 5 games in 2014, and he averaged off the top of my head….it was 92 or 93. Gun. Priced at a 78 AVE. Valid selection for mine.

Rich to Wallis is a very good call by Stickman. Unlike Stickman, some coaches have a very short memory. Wallis scored 6 tons in his first 9 games in his debut season. No Liberatore, Griffen and Cooney, he plays inside midfield role. Leave the tagging to the no frills Liam Picken. Wallis can average at least 90 (Think Rich averages around that 85 mark). Get some good early points, make cash, then upgrade him to a fallen premium.

Keep an eye on Clancee Pearce in NAB Freo v Melb. He's an 80-90 average player when right. If he looks back to his best, i'd go with him over Docherty. Could get similar, if not maybe slightly better output for a lower price plus the added DPP that Clancee offers.

I'm not sold on B.Smith down back, i prefer Shaw/Hibberd/Hodge but i guess it's Upside vs Tried and True. Can see the validity of the Smith selection, and respect that.

And to confuse you some more…..i'd go Ward over Wines hahahaha…..

      Jayden · 05/03/2015 at 00:44

Hahaha I’m not confused I’m very back n forth atm
Rich is at a very awkward price
I do like bonts but gonna watch him in the nab cup first
I don’t know much about Pearce gotta admit
I’m not sold on smith but hibberd with Asada hodge injury riddled getting too old and shaw is just inconsistent
I’ll have a watch of Wallis and see how they play him
      Thanks for the advice

Ben · 04/03/2015 at 21:16

Dangerfield or Watson?

    Stickman · 04/03/2015 at 21:21

Comes down to ASADA. I think Watson is more value with a history of ultra premium output. If ASADA have not made a decision before the season starts, would go with Dangerfield as the average player does peak in the 8th year. Honestly are both in my team at M4 and 5 at the moment.

      Jayden · 04/03/2015 at 21:35

Neither to start off with Watson will get injured at some stage plus Asada and dangerfield starts the season slow

        MarcoPolo · 05/03/2015 at 08:00

Danger has some nice easy fixtures first up tho!

jimmy7 · 04/03/2015 at 21:25

hey lekdog, or anyone willing to talk SC, the article about players changing clubs and that, does big Ben mcevoy come into the picture!!?
& savage/mcdonald or geary…..
& vanberlo/rich or both or other players???
i'm pretty new, so help would be welcome from anyone?

    Derek · 05/03/2015 at 16:12

I hadn’t considered big boy until I read that article, he is a possibility, but I’m keeping clear of Hawks

Steve · 04/03/2015 at 21:28

Def- h.shaw , l.hodge , j.newnes , t.langdon , s.savage , h.goddard ( viojo rainbow , a saad )

Mid- g.ablett , d.beams , p.dangerfield , o.wines , b.crouch , m.wallis , j.anderson , a.vandenberg ( r.atkins, n freeman , n karakour )

Ruck – n.natanui , t.bellchambers ( m.cox )

For – b.delidio , j.bartel , b.goddard , d.swan , c.salem , j.hogan ( k.lambert , t.read? )

$6,400

Gone cheap in rucks and heavy in forward and defence , would like some definite round 1 rookie options in def and mid , all comments welcome , cheers

    Donavan · 04/03/2015 at 21:43

Not sure how your sleeping, but I would have trouble if relying on Bellchambers in the ruck without cover.

Like the selections of Wines, Crouch, & Anderson in the midfield, but not to sure about Wallis. And that forward line is seriously stacked with Goddard at F3.

      Steve · 04/03/2015 at 21:50

Totally agree with the bellchambers and no cover just not sure what to do was thinking Goddard downgrade to bell chambers in forward and Goldstein taking ruck if I have enough , cheers

    t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 00:22

    Hey Steve,

Really like D1 to D3, good selections and will all hit 90 >. Not sold on Langdon, he feels very "trappy" for mine, i think all the 300-400K have that feel about them. For what it's worth, the only two i'm considering in that price range are the two from the Purple Army in Clancee and Garrick.

I would only go in with one of Wines and Crouch. Perhaps Andy Swallow or Griffen to replace one of them. Like the Wallis selection, astute.

Brave man picking Bellchambers off the back of no NAB matches. Very much a Risk v Reward selection there. Wouldn't stress about no ruck cover there though. If he looks terrible after 2 rounds, then a sideways to perhaps Leuenberger shouldn't be too much hassles.

Very nice forward line, the TnT Wall right there!! (Tried and True F1 to F4).

Pete · 04/03/2015 at 21:31

Backline: Hibberd, Newnes, Higgins, Langdon, Kolodjashnij, Lever (Goddard, McKenzie)

Mids: Ablett, Beams, Danger, Jack, Wines, Griffen, Heeney, Freeman. (Boekhorst, Vandenburg, Laverde)

Rucks: Nic Nat, Bellchambers (Cox)

Forwards: Martin, Bennell, Swan, Mitchell, Clark, Hogan (Lambert, Daniel)

Not sure about the defence i have. Thoughts?

    Donavan · 04/03/2015 at 21:35

The defence is ok, I would be more worried about Bellchambers in the ruck with no cover.

    Kev · 05/03/2015 at 09:00

If you can find the money try to fit another elite mid in

Brett · 04/03/2015 at 21:32

Should i consider Gunston and lecras?

    jimmy7 · 04/03/2015 at 22:58

Lecras always looks good, but im not sure if he is the best options to pick this year, good solid POD's though!

    t_woof · 04/03/2015 at 23:11

    Nope, focus on the DPP's.

    Nuggety · 05/03/2015 at 01:21

I had Gunston last year mate and was serviceable until his injury saw him miss late in the year. Not too many hawks worth a look in but for all their victories someone’s gotta kick the goals and Jack will get his share for sure. Great mark too and roams right up the ground = good scores. Nice POD for sure. Would like him in my forward line but not in ATM..

Cyril is Delicious · 05/03/2015 at 07:58

Wallis or Rich at M6?

    Kev · 05/03/2015 at 08:58

I'd lean towards Wallis if he gets Libba's spot in the mids, but leave that decision until the end of the nab

    t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 16:16

    Right now, Wallis.

carlashirley90 · 05/03/2015 at 09:36

I had a dream last night that JPK and T Mitchell were the highest 2015 scorers for Sydney

    BundyBear · 08/03/2015 at 03:12

Dreams do come true sometimes. I dreamt last year that i would not finish last. It came true. I finished second last

carlashirley90 · 05/03/2015 at 09:41

I'm not sold on Griffen yet guys I think Ward is the work horse and Treloar is all class making Griffen 3rd fiddle for Giants don't know who will get taged but Griffen's avg score I feel won't be what we are after, just a thought

What would be an acceptable score for coaches selecting him 105-110 and will he be rested in games or even rounds?

    t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 14:39

Projecting an average in that range, 105-110. Max of 115, Min of 98.

Doubt he'll be "rested". If he's sound he'll play. Will only miss if injured. GWS need to win games, fact.

Pauly Walnuts · 05/03/2015 at 10:08

I'm not seeing Rockliff in too many teams, does everyone think his scores will drop due to Beams & Rich ? too much cash straight up ect ? The C next to his name means he might maintain good scores !!

    t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 15:10

    Hey Pauly,

I don't think Rich will have any impact on his scores, Beams may…..thinking may drop to at worst a 125 AVE, but i'm happy to select him from the get go. I'm projecting him to pretty much match his 2014 AVE.

    Are you selecting Rocky?

I've been having difficulties deciding which ultra premium midfielders to select. So decided to crunch some numbers to help with the selection dilemmas. Below stats exclude finals.

    Ablett/Rockliff/Pendles/Fyfe/Selwood
    Last 30 131.4 125.1 125.0 114.6 124.9
    Last 25 129.9 131.2 125.8 118.9 122.5
    Last 20 128.6 132.2 124.3 120.1 118.2
    Last 15 136.7 133.8 120.5 123.5 122.7
    Last 10 130.8 135.4 120.0 128.6 126.8

      pauly walnuts · 05/03/2015 at 16:44

interesting numbers T,Ive had Rocky from the get go, I have GAblett,Rocky,Pendles,JPK,Danger for my first 5 Mids thinking a lot of teams wont have Rocky & Danger starting,my PREMO POD's.

Danger was slow early last year and if my memory is correct he was carrying an ankle injury.

I had Fyfe a starter last year, but he has had a few niggles lately and I see Geelong have a the Hawks & Freo for the first 2 games so I'm Sellwood may not score to high early.

Anyway we all have opinions, there like backsides ,we all have one.

      Good Luck

    dognino · 05/03/2015 at 15:13

I can only afford 1 player over $700k , hoping he drops a bit for a future upgrade

Jimmmmmmmmma · 05/03/2015 at 12:47

IBBO or LANGDON for D4?

    t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 14:41

    Pass on Langdon.

Ibbo, concerning he's not playing tonight. If misses NAB 2, then that puts big doubts over him. A player with his injury history, we need to see him playing these early matches.

Keep an eye on Clancee Pearce this evening. Can score as good, if not better than the above two and cheaper for the sky rocket.

Beerz09 · 05/03/2015 at 13:09

Hey guys, i have done a big restructure of my team I would like your thoughts.
Strategy, I had a team with probably too many rookies so i have taken some advice and included more “keepers”

DEF: K. Simpson, M. Hibberd, J. Newnes, H. Shaw, H. Goddard, M. Dick (A. Saad, T. Clurey)

MID: G. Ablett, M. Barlow, S. Pendlebury, M. Priddas, D. Beams, N. Van Berlo, J. Anderson, N. Freeman (P. Cripps, J. Cowan)

RUC: N. Naitanui, M. Leuenberger (T. Read)

FWD: D. Martin, R. Gray, D. Swan, T. Lamb, J. Hogan, C. Daniel (M. Clark, M. Cox)

$10,000

    t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 14:54

    Hey Beerz09,

I can't fault any of the premium selections. Newnes and Leuenberger are valid mid price selections.

    Really nice side!! Well done.

    Derek · 05/03/2015 at 16:06

I think Barlow is expensive for what you get. At least price at the top end.

Jack · 05/03/2015 at 13:49

Is Bennell worth a look at up forward or are there better options?

Paul · 05/03/2015 at 14:01

Is Clancee pearce a good pick as D5 if fit?

    t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 14:55

    Definitely!

Get a look at him this evening in NAB 1.

If fit, and given that half back / wing role…he can hit 80 > average.

    I N Pieman · 05/03/2015 at 14:58

If clancee is best 22 then he’s great value. But the question is is he best 22. In Ross we do not trust!

      t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 15:23

      Good question INP.

I believe if Fremantle want to move forward in 2015, then Clancee has to be in the starting 18….at worst in the 22.

The lock down style of footy doesn't work anymore. Ross needs to evolve……expecting to see a more attacking game style in 2015. Clancee is an attacking half back / wing.

What's your gut say mate, he's best 22?

        General Soreness · 05/03/2015 at 16:50

Personally I do not think he is best 22. Also had leg injuries means no running, it has taken him forever to build a small tank, I tipping some of that work has been lost due to injury. Consider those ahead of him in mids Fyfe, Barlow, Mundy, Mzungu, Neale, Hill, D Pearce, and arguably Suban, Spurr, De Boer then there are the guys coming through Sutcliffe, Sheridan and Crozier. I expect that Crozier will be doing a fair bit of work of half back / mid tonight, and if wasn't a fwd only could have been a SC smokey.

          t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 17:17

          G'day GS!

I recall you mentioning the tank issue awhile back.

To be completely honest if Suban, De Boer, Sutcliffe and Sheridan are in front of him, then Fremantle are in serious trouble.

Not expecting him to be rotating through the 'midfield'. Half back role, with perhaps pushing a little further up the wing. But predominately across half back.

Agree, Crozier has plenty of upside and a spike in his output this year wouldn't surprise at all.

      Derek · 05/03/2015 at 16:06

      How old is he?

        t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 16:11

        25 in October, still young.

Ryan · 05/03/2015 at 16:04

Nat Fyfe, yes or no as a starting premo

    Derek · 05/03/2015 at 16:09

I’ve made a hundred different teams already, and Fyfe hasn’t been in one of them.

It’s like Seleood last year, worried about an injury going into round 1 so no one picked him, then he stared.

    t_woof · 05/03/2015 at 16:32

    Valid selection in any side.

I don't have him in my current side, but nothing to say that won't change.

    PJ8 · 05/03/2015 at 16:35

Opposite to you Derek, I've made a hundred different teams and Fyfe was in the first team and has not moved.

He's a superstar and he's set back was minor.

    Ryan · 05/03/2015 at 16:44

    Thanks guys

Dee · 05/03/2015 at 16:42

Thoughts on Lever in the backline?

    PJ8 · 05/03/2015 at 16:47

Not sure about his JS Dee, looks to be more of a KPP too so may not score well. If he's named RD1 then could be valid but the last thing we want is another Bews from last year.

Ryan · 05/03/2015 at 16:51

Thoughts?
DEF: Smith, Shaw, Newnes, Henderson, Edwards, Goddard, Viojo-Rainbow, Newman
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Selwood, Sloane, Greene, Rich, Boekhorst, Freeman, Vandenberg, Steele, Lambert
RUC: Goldy, Nic Nat, Read
MID: Goddard, Swan, Martin, Salem, Hogan, Laverde, Daniel, Krakouer

I have $213,600 remaining. Do I upgrade Henderson to someone like Hampton? Do I upgrade Rich to Wines? or Should I upgrade Greene to Fyfe? I like Greene becuase he is a POD and has a good early draw. Thoughts?
