    nick · 18/02/2015 at 23:48

I am a huge cats man stay of him till round 7 8 maybe earlier but he wont be playing the first 4 to 6 games

      Kev · 19/02/2015 at 08:13

Good call Nick. Will spend some time in the twos to get his match fitness up. Downgrade option

    BennyGan · 20/02/2015 at 22:07

Cats fan here, I bloody love Menzel but I wouldn't go near him til around the bye rounds, maybe as potential downgrade option,

Tom · 18/02/2015 at 21:46

Off topic but important…

Can someone who tweets please inform Higgo that he has his pricing formula wrong. The formula for price changes is:

New Price = Old Price + 0.443 x (Current Score – Breakeven)

Breakeven = (3 x Old Price)/5.04 – (Score from Last Week + Score from Two Weeks Ago)

Higgo is using 5.4 rather than 5.04 which is the preseason pricing "magic" number, this reverts to 5.04 during the season (and results in all existing players being initially overpriced by 8%) to account for the increase in price for rookies while maintaining the total salary for the competition as a constant.

For example, Daniel Rich if he averages 90 with a starting price of $348k will only reach a price of $444k by the round 11 bye. Higgo is quoting $470k, a small but significant difference.

    Flash · 19/02/2015 at 00:05

Whoa…. Tom if you're right, I bow down to you my friend. But remember… In the community we support each other till, the end and aim for ultimate glory together.

    Dools · 19/02/2015 at 18:58

He has one sheery a year, He picks one dude insert Higinsssssssssssssssss and BANG we are all over him like a fat boy on a cream bun!!!!
Empires have been brought down for less………
Higgo Sanity Poll will be a must…..There I have said it Jock Bring on a poll??? (It's not like I'm saying this and your not agreeing mate) THE POLL, Prime ministerially like … Gary Abblett 3 votes, Tony Abbett 2 Votes, Higgo Nil Points, (Lift son!!, LIFT)
That's it community I'm bring back the rating System on the POD's
However , I still havesome spots in GROUND ZERO
If you like a challenge and some fun (Keith) post a e-mail address and I will return the CODE……..

    Tom · 19/02/2015 at 20:57

Good to see the latest price rises from Higgo are correct for Salem, he will hit $392k for an 80 average by round 13 and $345k for a 70 average.

pauly walnuts · 18/02/2015 at 21:58

Anyone thinking about A.Woodward from the Hawks-just under 200k ,played 2 games late last year, no Sewell this year and also won the Liston Medal – got him at M7 ATM, might be better than some of the higher priced rooks.

    Derek · 18/02/2015 at 23:15

I hear he has bought his very own Green vest

    jackal · 18/02/2015 at 23:38

    not forgotten good selection.

    Kev · 19/02/2015 at 08:17

I'm personally not big on selecting rookies from the top teams, pauly. They've got guns all over the park and the new boys might be played out of position for team balance. Watch the nab to see how he fits in

Matthew · 18/02/2015 at 21:59

What do you think about Mitch Hallahan? New club, potentially more opportunities, despite Gold Coast being so strong in the midfield.

    Stickman · 19/02/2015 at 18:29

Don't like him only scored over 90 once in his career. Gold Coast already has Gaz, O'Meara, Swallow, Bennell, Jack Martin, Rischitelli, Stanley and Shaw. I see Shaw averaging higher than him and they are at same price.

Cyril is Delicious · 18/02/2015 at 22:00

Ricky Henderson, or ibboston as d4??
Currently have Henderson, would love the communitys thoughts, cheers

    Scotland · 18/02/2015 at 22:19

I have both but hendo would be my pick to kick it as the crow flies

    shezza · 19/02/2015 at 04:49

    Hendo is a lock

    northernsoul74 · 19/02/2015 at 09:58

I've had Hendo in my team since the Higginator was released. Was really hoping he'd fly under the radar as no one was talking about him but looks like the cat is out of the bag. My POD may become one of the most picked in the backline come season start.

Bog rat · 18/02/2015 at 22:03

Great work Jock, could I pick your genius footy brain & get your thoughts on going with Nic Nat & Lycett in the ruck together or have Lycett in the forward line ?

    Stickman · 19/02/2015 at 18:32

Don't like the idea of both ruckman from the same team, will steal points from each other. However, you're always guaranteed one solid score from a ruckman. Think Naitanui will be in the top 5 by the end of year. So would change Lycett to Leunberger preferably.

      Bog rat · 19/02/2015 at 23:28

Thanks for the feedback Stickman, I agree with you on Nic Nat being atop 5 ruckman this year

James · 18/02/2015 at 22:11

Should we go lighter on defence this year Jock?

Currently have two premium defenders in Shaw and Hibberd with two midpricers and the rest rookies. Was thinking I might even downgrade one of my premos to another midpricer to free up some cash.

Is this to risky? The excess money would be used on my midfield were I would end up having four superpremiums, two premiums, one midpricer and the rest rookies.

What do you think?

    pauly walnuts · 18/02/2015 at 22:20

James, I'm thinking the same and also going big in the Ruck and hopefully without a trade there this year at all. Just too many variables down back , I'm considering 4 mid pricers such as Vlastuin,Henderson ect and load up with what comes up in the NAB with rooks. Risk & Reward Strategy ? Good Luck Mate !

      Scotland · 18/02/2015 at 22:26

Light on in dfens mid pricers all the rage with one top defender under $500k this mayes be the way to go

    Leighroy · 18/02/2015 at 22:29

I’m going light in defence for a couple of reasons. Mid pricers in defence are easier to upgrade into underpriced premos. And the difference between a mid pricers average and a premo average isn’t that great. Therefore spend money elsewhere

wolfey · 18/02/2015 at 22:35

well there goes all my decent POD mid-prices gone. Spot on with I reckon with rich, Swan and MitchellI jock!!

Derek · 18/02/2015 at 23:20

I keep looking at Sam Mitchell as a serious mid price option. $490k there is a bargain

    Kev · 19/02/2015 at 08:26

He's priced at 490k for a reason, derek. Way too many sub 100 scores to be considered as a mid selection.

      Derek · 19/02/2015 at 13:14

I’ve decided to have a no Hawks team. They are not good SC scorers.

        PDP · 19/02/2015 at 14:29

        Except Lewis

        Luke · 19/02/2015 at 15:06

Derek, you need to look closely at the defenders, 4 of the top 11, not bad for not good SC scores!

Throw suckling into the mix at sub 300k last season and Mitchell, you could of picked them all

          Derek · 19/02/2015 at 18:16

And Langford last year. Ok so I will have another look at the Hawks, white cross if he plays

medadsson · 18/02/2015 at 23:22

Anyone considering Marcus Bontempelli. Believed he has bulked up considerably. Could maybe do a Jack Macrae?

    Scotland · 18/02/2015 at 23:28

Keep the bont quiet ideal pod the world doesn’t have to know but bontification is coming

      medadsson · 18/02/2015 at 23:31

      mums the word 🙂

    jackal · 18/02/2015 at 23:43

    The Bont is coming !!!!!!!

    Phil · 19/02/2015 at 18:16

The Bont or Josh Kelly could both be the 2015 Macrae

    Ash · 20/02/2015 at 16:35

Locked and loaded. Still a bit worried about his price though, a lot of money for a second year player.

Mike · 18/02/2015 at 23:59

League 148559 – Jock's Jock
Serious but not insanely so. Midprice strategists encouraged. Be good to have teams that don't all look the same.
C'mon NAB Cup Been waiting to see what kind of a run Mitchell has.

    Sh00ter · 19/02/2015 at 14:05

I'm in mate thanks. Aiming for top 2,000 this year. Won 4/5 leagues last year!

    Phil · 19/02/2015 at 18:18

Mitchell will smash it in the NAB absolutely no doubt about it, he did last year…..But will that tell us anything? If one of Kennedy, Parker, McVeigh or Hannebry are missing though it needs to be taken with a grain of salt

Pete · 19/02/2015 at 00:54

Great stuff as always Jock.

I'm stuck between Rich and VB in the guts and its Grigg v Bellchambers in the forward line. Thinking that VB might add more value in the middle as he's $120K cheaper than Rich. Belchambers has DPP which is helpful in the ruck, but Grigg was sub-affected last year and scored really well considering his playing time…

    Kev · 19/02/2015 at 08:30

Huge call on Grigg. Best 22? Walsh has said he'll play his likely round 1 team in second game of nab so if Grigg isn't lining up scratch him off the list

Nathan · 19/02/2015 at 07:38

Great work once again

I’m pretty keen on Walters, what’s a couple of thoughts on him?

    Stickman · 19/02/2015 at 18:12

Have Walters at F4 at the moment, more keen on Mitchell but do not have the cap space. Walters looks in good nick in training with the indigenous all-stars. But have not counted out Foley at that price averaged 103 a few years back, but will not pull the trigger unless some outstanding news is revealed about him.

    Ash · 20/02/2015 at 16:39

At the end of the day don't pick pure small forwards, to inconsistent.

Ryan · 19/02/2015 at 08:13

Great cheat sheet jock
I got one question

Would u have van berlo and rich in at the same time and if so would rich be M6 and van berlo M7

Have one of them at M6

    Kev · 19/02/2015 at 09:29

Depends entirely on your structure, Ryan. Two mid pricers in your mids are good as stepping stones to fallen premiums, but at the same time reduces your total points.

For example, I can see a rookie like Freeman averaging more or less the same as NVB, and he is 90k cheaper. That 90k is the difference between having Jelwood or McVeigh in your mids

      vcloophole · 19/02/2015 at 13:16

Awesome point Kev. If the cheaper quality rooks play and score, that extra $200K you save over 2x $215k VB types will be critical for fast early upgrades

      Phil · 19/02/2015 at 18:22

True Kev but as a young Mexican girl one stated 'Why can't we have both?' Currently have Van Berlo & Freeman M7 & M8 and I like it. VB gives me that almost guaranteed 75 average and as you stated Freeman has the upside (albeit more of an unknown)

Ben Bretel · 19/02/2015 at 09:29

Franklin or
cant deiced

    Ryan · 19/02/2015 at 14:12

    PDP · 19/02/2015 at 14:31

Buddy – plays like a midfielder.

      Derek · 19/02/2015 at 18:19

      Get buddy later

@DaveC2001 · 19/02/2015 at 09:38

great work again, Jock! ive gone with bellchambers in the forward line as a money making cover option. I did think of Lycett too in the ruck mix, but looking at his hit outs to advantage stats decided no at this time. im still not convinced of nicnats fitness/injury problems are behind him either…. going with maric as my main ruck

Ryan · 19/02/2015 at 11:21

Hey community I really need some help with a question

If u had to choose

Mason cox
Van berlo

Toby nav
T. Mitchell

I'm finding this really tough cuz with Bellchambers and cox… The two DP with goldy sounds good but a bit risky but with option two it sounds more safe.. But idk which one

    Luke · 19/02/2015 at 15:08

Has anyone thought about Mumford? He picks on the little guys better then anyone

      Stickman · 19/02/2015 at 18:16

Mumford would be a great pick. Hasn't averaged below 90 for the past 5 with 2 of them being over 110. Definite POD have not seen many teams with him.

    Phil · 19/02/2015 at 18:26

Option 1 cos it has the only certain keeper (Goldy) the best cash cow (Van Berlo) and the most flexibility (the other 2)

I N Pieman · 19/02/2015 at 12:16

Just put an add in the paper.
WANTED: Cheap reliable best 22 defenders. You must not be overpriced & preferably rookie priced. Higgins & Braughton need not apply.

    OldOcker · 19/02/2015 at 12:22

Give me 8 Itchy and I would be a very happy man, I will even help pay for the cost of the add.

      I N Pieman · 19/02/2015 at 13:01

The nightmare continues with Waters today. When he looks like a good option your in strife. Thankfully he put us out of our misery & pulled the pin. No where do we go. Jesus

        medadsson · 19/02/2015 at 13:40

How are those rubber plants going Pieman? Dylan Roberton may look good in a pot.

          I N Pieman · 19/02/2015 at 14:24

Those rubber plants look better than my backline. Thanks to you medad Clancee Pearce became one yesterday & Beau Waters today. Gary Rohans looking good. When I make a statement like that it's dire. Roberton could be D5 at this rate. We all want to go cheap in the backline but the options are slim.

            I N Pieman · 19/02/2015 at 14:25

How's Ibbo going over your way Medadsson.

              medadsson · 19/02/2015 at 16:22

Ibbo, providing his shoulders hold up (had a bone fused last Oct to stop dislocations – same surgery same as Fyfe's) is definitely best 22 and a goer for mine given his price and this years dearth of defenders. Failing that, if you want job security, durability, growing stature and a link up player Cameron Sutcliffe 377k may be worthy of consideration. Has played his way into side and about to undertake 4th year at senior level. Bit of a punt but a huge POD.

            vcloophole · 19/02/2015 at 14:49

Pieman, if Rohan is in your sights, pleeease tell me our league is playing for $$$$! haha 😛

              I N Pieman · 19/02/2015 at 15:07

He won't be in my team VC. He's a SC spud of the highest order. It was a temporary moment of insanity.

                OldOcker · 19/02/2015 at 16:02

Glad to know that it was only temporary mate, I was worried that it had set in.
I only have those moments when I have consumed too much alcohol.

I always look at your intelligent comments and you nearly lost me for a minute.

          Derek · 19/02/2015 at 18:22

Rohan is cheap and I’m thinking in swans best 22.

            vcloophole · 19/02/2015 at 19:32

Looks flashy but turns it over too much! That's fine for Dreamteam but not SC.

    Sarah · 20/02/2015 at 15:33

The midprice defensive strategy is too risky for my liking. I'm taking Simpson, Shaw, Hodge and Newnes. With the exception of Newnes, all have a history of averaging 90+ year after year. That'll do me!!

      OldOcker · 20/02/2015 at 18:50

Looking good Sarah, I think we will have to be happy with a 90+ average and hopefully 95.
Not 100% sold on Newnes just yet and hopefully nab cup will make up my mind.

Ryan · 19/02/2015 at 14:36

Great work jock,
I want one of the 200-215k players, looking at nvb, Biggs and Newton. Liking the look of Newton atm, but not sure.
Who do we think will be the best of these three?
Thanks guys

    Cap · 19/02/2015 at 15:06

OldOcker · 19/02/2015 at 14:37

Starting to think that stacking the back-line might be the way to go this year as per Crouching One suggested. I really think this has a lot of merit.
There are plenty of Rookies in the Mid and up Fwd. (Rookie Mid-fielders are where the cash is generated)

I am open to all thoughts on this theory.
Comments and Abuse welcome.

    Ryan · 19/02/2015 at 14:41

Agree oldocker, was my first team strategy. But as others said, it's tough to bring in premium miss who are 600k plus. Where as defence premiums drop in price usually. Also it's tough to pick which defenders will be in the top 10 defence scorers.

      OldOcker · 19/02/2015 at 14:58

Can't argue with that Ryan, Most premium defenders appear to be overpriced and you are 100% right mate.
I am also sure that you will find that some Premium midfielders drop in price as well and it is a case of selling rookies at the right time to upgrade two for one and bring in the next rookie. The bye rounds also make this easier when you have 3 trades for each round.
Sometimes what you lose on the slide you pick up on the Merry go Round.

        Ryan · 19/02/2015 at 17:32

Agree oldocker, and for the record I'll be selecting 5 players over 435k with Henderson as d6, just trying to talk myself out of it haha

          DL123 · 19/02/2015 at 17:36

Maybe dont go that strong Ryan. I highly doubt that you will keep the other lines solid and it is a strategy bound to hurt your chances of overall rankings.

          Derek · 19/02/2015 at 18:26

There will be a rookie defender emerge, there always is. Ie Langford

Just don’t fall for the Georgio type rookie

    Phil · 19/02/2015 at 18:34

You could be right OldOcker I actually threw this idea up the other day. The way I see it the defence this year is like a banana peel – don't slip on it! I'm seeing teams with 3-4 mid pricers in the backline….insane.

I pose this question to the community, how many mid priced defenders last year turned out to be worthwhile picks? I can think of 1, Jaesch. Perhaps Swallow if you consider a 430k defender a mid pricer which I dont.

      OldOcker · 19/02/2015 at 19:17

Spot on Phil, Mid Priced players in defense are generally a NO NO but there can be the odd one that stands out.
It becomes a case of how much money do you want to allocate to each line. As defenders are renowned as being the lowest averaging scorers in your team and that is a fact statistically.

Swallow everyone was all over last year, Well at least I was.
Jaensch I could not come at even though he was producing scores. (Even the trade to me after I caught on was not worth it because I value my trades and would much rather upgrade to guns in the mid-field where your points come from.)

Trades this year are going to be more important than they have ever been. Given the defense and RUCK options you go with this year.
I think one mid priced player on each line is acceptable but this year maybe it is a case of having to take two in defense.
      Just my Opinion.

Cap · 19/02/2015 at 14:44

Can I please get some advise on my current team It needs work that for sure, comment welcomed

Still got $275,500 in bank

    Ryan · 19/02/2015 at 14:48

Team looks solid cap, general rule is to not put dpp players in the midfield. Rather in the other line, ie martin in the fwd line. Therefore you can pick another midfielder in your team

      Cap · 19/02/2015 at 15:02

Thanks Ryan I was thinking that just trying not to have to waste trades early with suspensions and injuries like I did last year and had no trades left in the finals.

      I N Pieman · 19/02/2015 at 15:31

Agree Ryan. Put the DPP's on their line. Also Cap can't see Darcy Moore playing early next season. He was in a moon boot & still not back in full training. He's also a bean pole. It seems The Bont is gaining some popularity. I think he's going to be an absolute gun.

        Cap · 19/02/2015 at 16:10

        okay thanks Pieman

Shauny · 19/02/2015 at 15:27

Martin Swan T.Mitchell Bellchambers hogan Daniel

I just want to know if these fwd line up is too weak or should I get some upgrades going

    Kev · 19/02/2015 at 21:50

Depends who you ask re: Bellchambers. For mine he is a walking injury. Most have Deledio/Goddard at F1

Bonters · 19/02/2015 at 15:30

Have I lost the plot or is having Sammy Gilbert at D4 to replace Waters a viable option?

    I N Pieman · 19/02/2015 at 15:40

Just another rubber plant. He's got a stress fracture in the foot Bonters. Wont be playing early if at all. Basically if your searching for value down back they are either retired, busted or dead.

      OldOcker · 19/02/2015 at 16:34

      Love it.

      Bonters · 19/02/2015 at 17:15

Ohhh yeah thought he'd be back training before round one but turns out I'm wrong.
Haha yeah it's looking that way, probably gonna have to restructure team :/

Redd · 19/02/2015 at 15:49

Hey lads would be great if I could get some advice on my supercoach team.

Def: H.Shaw L.Hodge J.Kelly J.Lever N.Brown H.Goddard Bench: V.Rainbow, B.Maynard

Mid: God Pendles Fyfe D.Beams M.Priddis A.Swallow B.Boekhorst N.Freeman
Bench: I.Heeney A.Vandenberg N.Krakouer

Ruck: Nic Nat Zac Smith Bench: M.Cox

Fwd: B.Goddard D.Martin J.Gunston J.Martin M.Clark J.Hogan Bench: T.Membrey C.Daniel

    I N Pieman · 19/02/2015 at 16:05

Nice midfield Redd. 3 KPF's. Personally 1 makes me feel sick even if they are rookie priced. Zac Smith will be a huge POD. Risky. He's injury prone. Nathan Brown on the ground. Toss him he's a 40 point a week guy. Jack Martin is interesting. His round 23 performance last season is still in my mind. Problem is we will probably need to take the risks down back.

      Redd · 19/02/2015 at 16:21

Thanx for the feedback mate, definitely banking on big zacs fitness and still tossing up bringing swanny back in for jack martin will be watching nab cup closley oh and yeh n.brown will have to go to the bench thanx again

        Derek · 19/02/2015 at 18:29

You need to look for lone wolf rucks. I like Zac but not this year

    OldOcker · 19/02/2015 at 16:42

Structure and team look pretty good mate, Not sure I would have Gunston, There are better value options in the forward line.
    Just my Opinion,

PS: Just for us old blokes God has retired and he should be referred to as the son of God.

      Dools · 20/02/2015 at 16:16

Baby Jesus OldOcker "Baby Jesus" The only Son of GOD asides from Nathan LOL

        OldOcker · 20/02/2015 at 18:07

Thanks for correcting me Dools, I was not thinking clearly because I was a bit upset that some bloke stole the bloody slab out of the fridge. When I get over this hangover I will find the bugger.

    DL123 · 19/02/2015 at 17:43

Dont like gunston martin clark in fwd line. try looking at the t.mitchells of the comp
Like Smith, huge pod and could be a serious steal if he stays on the park.
nice mid but if youre going for overall, the first 3 mids all have r12 bye.
3 defensive rookies is a HUGE risk too. you could easily downgrade a fyfe to a nvb and upgrade n.brown to a gun (simpson and the likes)

Nathan · 19/02/2015 at 16:11

Hi Community,

I don't normally select mid range players very much but I feel like we are backed into a corner this year – anyone else taking this approach? please see below and let me know.

DEF- H. Shaw, J. Newnes, N. Vlastuin, G. Ibbotson, R. Henderson, B. Whitecross (H. Goddard, Rainbow)

MID – G. Ablett, S. Pendlebury, N. Fyfe, O. Wines, R. Griffen, D. Rich, N. Van Berlo, B. Newton (I. Heeney, B. Boekhorst, N. Freeman)

Ruck – T. Goldstein, N. Naitanui (T. Nankervis)

FWD – D. Swan, M. Bontempelli, T. Mitchell, T. Bellchambers, A. Saad, J. Hogan (c. Daniel, T. Lamb)

    I N Pieman · 19/02/2015 at 16:24

Main problem with that Nath is your going to have to pray some become keepers. Or its 20 trades to get rid of them.

    Derek · 19/02/2015 at 18:32

Omg. Your defence is 100% same as mine

    Kev · 19/02/2015 at 21:47

Looks good Nathan, different set up to other teams out there. Plenty of cheaper mid rookies who you can get in for Newton and NVB. I'd then use the cash to strengthen your forwards.

      Nathan · 20/02/2015 at 12:56

wines is there to stay… he will be a beast this year.. wouldn't be surprised at all if he is top 6.

    ThemightyJrods · 20/02/2015 at 12:44

Very weak forward line ditch wines, rich or van berlo and upgrade saad

James · 19/02/2015 at 16:48

Hi everyone,
Here is my team. I have $900 in the bank.

Defence: H. Shaw, C. Enright, J. Newnes, Ibbotson, Whitecross, Goddard (Edwards, Viojo-Rainbow)

Midfield: Ablett, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Selwood, Wines, Van Berlo, Boekhorst, Heeney (Vandenberg, Freeman, Krakouer)

Rucks: Natanui, Leuenberger (M. Cox)

Forwards: Deledio, Goddard, Westhoff, Swan, Salem, Blease (C. Daniels, Lambert)

    JoeWoolcock · 20/02/2015 at 17:13

Have a feeling this might be the year Westhoff dispels those consistency woes. Nice looking side mate, I'll have to think long and hard about whether to take a punt on injury-prone rucks without backup. Ibbotson a risk but definitely worth a look if fit

      General Soreness · 23/02/2015 at 11:25

You may be correct, which should make him an upgrade target, not a starter.

    Matthew · 20/02/2015 at 21:07

    Super_Freak · 22/02/2015 at 09:12

Like the Westhoff pick. Considering him myself, read somewhere he's been traing with the mids and could play more up the ground like Roughy.

I N Pieman · 19/02/2015 at 16:58

Very nice James. Pretty similar structure to me. I don't have Westhoff. I have another big boy in the guts. Definitely one of the better ones I've seen. Think your on the right track buddy.

    James · 19/02/2015 at 18:48

Thanks mate! What would you do to improve it?

BCHawks · 19/02/2015 at 16:59

Sad to see Waters retiring. Such a great footballer with so much talent.

Tommykwr · 19/02/2015 at 17:19

If anyone wants to join a league the code is 277781
Hoping to make a strong league with teams that come top 20%

Bonters · 19/02/2015 at 17:21

Hi community, given the news about Beau Waters, what does everyone think of trading Bartel to Tom Mitchell so I have the cash to up Waters to Enright? Looks the best option for me at the moment I think.

    DL123 · 19/02/2015 at 17:37

I like it, i'd take titchell and enright over waters and bartel anyway!

T-MAC · 19/02/2015 at 18:21

Need the community's help.
DEF: Shaw, Hibberd, Newnes, Seedsman, Goddard, Viojo-Rainbow, McKenzie, Newman
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Sloane, Biggs, Boekhorst, Freeman, Heeney, Steele, Lambert
RUC: Goldy, Leuey, Cox
FWD: Goddard, Martin, Swan, Walters, Hogan, Laverde, Daniel, Krakouer.

$153,300 left in the bank.

    Kev · 19/02/2015 at 21:42

Too much cash left over, and depending on your bye strategy, way too many round 12 players missing.

    ThemightyJrods · 20/02/2015 at 12:46

With ur bank upgrade seedsman he's still recovering from hip surgery and borderline collingwoods best 22

I N Pieman · 19/02/2015 at 18:37

Salem was BOG in the club intra match today. And they are looking at a role for him bringing the ball out of defence because of his skills. There goes the keys. Man love for bullseye right here

    vcloophole · 19/02/2015 at 19:35

Bullseye The Distributor. Oh to dream! Could he be Shannon Hurn mk2 sans the weekly tag? It's a stirring, stirring prospect

    OldOcker · 19/02/2015 at 22:36

    Thanks for the info Itchy.
I thought from your name that you are a Collingwood man.
I am now concerned that you actually make Pies.
Having itchy nuts and being a pieman puts me off eating Pies and reminds me too much of that Maguire bloke who has his finger in too many pies. Let the fireworks begin. Collingwood have money to waste and cause players to have asthma if they are not conditioned to it. They will need every advantage they can this year because they need it.

If you do make pies why not become a sponsor?

      I N Pieman · 20/02/2015 at 12:23

I do barrack for the pies Ocker. I actually make Pies on the side for Relton Roberts.

tom · 19/02/2015 at 18:50

thoughts of Bellchambers at f4? Would rather him at f5 but struggling to find the cash

    Dools · 19/02/2015 at 19:42

My Thought's on "Ding Dong" Hmmmm Would love him down the back with Higensssssssssssssss.
Unfortunately Game of Thrones has a lock on killing serious players, but these two are in my cast as the crew on Star Trek The one's who get beamed down with McCoy, Jim and LT Uhura … Dead in the 1st Beamed down sequence and the second is the dude that says nothing, does nothing but dies by Phaser and disappears in the last home planet shot.. Ahhh Gene Rodenberry you had GoT covered…

    vcloophole · 19/02/2015 at 19:45

If you think he's value, then it doesn't matter whether he's F4 or F5 mate. You'll just be lighter on at F5 if you start him at F4, and stronger somewhere else as a result.

    OldOcker · 19/02/2015 at 22:47

True opinion on this one mate i do not see Bellchambers or any other dual position Ruck being on the ground in the forward line.
Totally depends on your team structure but Rucks are as much as a conundrum as Backs are this year and Super-Coach have thrown up another problem for us this year yet again, That is what makes this selection process so difficult.

    derek · 20/02/2015 at 13:57

forget about DDP rucks this year. Use a trade if one goes down

      General Soreness · 20/02/2015 at 14:35

Only DPP ruck should be a non playing bench.

        tom · 20/02/2015 at 15:45

I dont want bellchambers due to his dpp, I think he is great value for money. I saw a stat saying he averaged in the 90s without ryder.

          Mike · 21/02/2015 at 08:20

Am I missing something here or will the Essendon players all be sitting out a big chunk of the season due to ASADA? Why pick any if they are essentially a forced trade at some stage?

yuiop · 19/02/2015 at 19:44

Should we be jumping on Whitecross or are we better of just getting a cheaper rookie?

    Kev · 19/02/2015 at 21:36

Depends who stands up really. Best 22? Hawks are very strong so he could find himself in and out of the team IMO

    derek · 20/02/2015 at 13:55

Whitecross might struggle to get in the Hawks best 22. he is only 25 years old (seems a lot older) so the hawks will be careful with him, might get a few green/red vests if he does play. If he does get a start and looks like keeping his place, he is a LOCK. The best thing about Whitecross he will be hungry to play and will give it 100% shot to be ready to play and when he does he will tackle anything that moves.

yuiop · 19/02/2015 at 21:43

Been messing around with my team A LOT and was wondering peoples thoughts??

DEF- Shaw, Hibberd, Newnes, Docherty, Henderson, Edwards. –Dick, Mckenzie

MID- Ablett, Pendlebury, Kennedy, Wines, Crouch, Wells, Heeney, Boekhurst. –Atkins, Freeman, Krakouer.

RUC- Goldstein, Leunberger — Cox

FWD- Goddard, Martin, Swan, Bellchambers, Salem, Hogan.– Daniel, Lambert

    JoeWoolcock · 20/02/2015 at 17:10

Like Goldy in there – reliable as they come. Bellchambers a risk but it seems that backup in the ruck stocks is almost necessary this year. Crouch, Wines, Wells could all fire if fit; great looking side mate!

      tom · 20/02/2015 at 20:38

      thanks mate!

JoeWoolcock · 19/02/2015 at 22:20

Hey community, been toying around with Steve Motlop in the fwd line. Awkward price but can't seem to resist the prospect of an injury-free, goalkicking speedster who'll get a run up the wing as well. Will watch in NAB but would love your thoughts?

    Derek · 19/02/2015 at 23:07

I keep putting him in my team and then taking him out……. Tempting

    Kev · 20/02/2015 at 12:10

Long time out of the game and will need match fitness in the twos. Downgrade option

Borko · 19/02/2015 at 22:39

Heard rocket talking about how he will play GAJ: didn’t 100% guarantee full midfield time … Should we be worried?

    I N Pieman · 20/02/2015 at 10:11

If he’s missing more than 2 limbs I’d think about not picking him.

      tom · 20/02/2015 at 11:25

Im with you pieman but it is very tempting to start without him and wait for his price to drop which could happen if he plays forward.

        Kev · 20/02/2015 at 12:09

4 goals and 30 possessions seems like a good reason to outlay 734k. Don't pick him at your peril, Tom!

        I N Pieman · 20/02/2015 at 12:17

If he plays forward Tom he'll win the Coleman & the Brownlow. Lots of people didn't pick him last year thinking his price would drop & it didn't. Trying to chase a 700k player will seriously compromise others things you should be doing.

          tom · 20/02/2015 at 12:23

haha was just making a point. Definitely do not have big enough gonads to start without him!

    OldOcker · 20/02/2015 at 20:08

I would only be worried if he wasn't on the ground. But even then he would probably still get SC points for sitting on the bench.
He plays everywhere on the ground anyway.

Craig · 19/02/2015 at 23:18

Thoughts on team please:
def: shaw, newnes, docherty, henderson, whitecross
mid: ablett, pendles, fyfe, griffen, swallow, rich, heeney, freeman
ruck: goldy, nicnat
fwd: goddard, martin, swan, tMitchell, clark, hogan

    Sizza23 · 20/02/2015 at 11:15

Solid Team, obviously looks as if you've sacrificed the DEF line. Who's the 6th DEF?

    derek · 20/02/2015 at 13:49

Clark is a risk, I would prefer Salem. Rich is a mid-price trap, rest look good

Deeman · 20/02/2015 at 06:45

Hearing people say its better to pick cheap rookie mids (130k and below) than the mids around the 200k price. Remember Dom Tyson was priced there last year and he was very very solid. If the job security and talent is there surely blokes like VBerlo, Biggs, Hartung, Salem etc be considered as strongly as the cheap rookies, thoughts?

    Sizza23 · 20/02/2015 at 11:12

Ben Newton looks tempting also now with Petracca down

    Kev · 20/02/2015 at 11:59

Unfortunately, price is not a reflection on scoring capability or this game would be easy! For every Dom Tyson there is a Viv Michie, Jack Martin, Dom Sheed, X. Ellis. High priced rookies from last year who didn't live up to the hype. Injuries and vest duties do not discriminate.

Also price is not a guaranteed output of higher scores. A picking a higher priced rookie (NVB – 215k) over someone like Freeman (123k) is 92k that you could use to strengthen other lines.

      I N Pieman · 20/02/2015 at 12:21

Agree with you Kev. Starting with Tyson & Polec last season was risky but it payed handsome dividends. But I just can't see anyone doing that this season in the Mids. Expecting a similar result from the 200k boys is wishful thinking. I'm certainly more interested in the basement priced boys this year.

kevwal · 20/02/2015 at 09:30

What I want from rookie selections is games, the more games, the more money made (there have been some exceptions to this rule, but only a few). Van Berlo is rookie priced and will play every game, if he remains fit. First rookie picked in my mind. Salem was my second.

@Aurnen23Jordan · 20/02/2015 at 10:46

Hey guys,
I'm new to the Jock Reynold's community and 3rd year SC player. Structure and contingency plans seem to be the way to go. I remember having Daisy last year and some other mid priced banana and trying to recover was a disaster. Hoping to avoid the same thing this year. Damn these tempting midpricers!

    derek · 20/02/2015 at 13:38

Rich will be this years daisy!

Rich's price isn't low enough to put him in. He isn't going to average anymore than 85 (with the occasional big score offset by a below average) – just like Daisy LY. He won't go up in price enough to put him in there just as a cash cow – seriously you can't expect him to get near $500k and if he did there are plenty of rookies who will appreciate more than $100k.

    I N Pieman · 20/02/2015 at 14:15

Wouldn't bother with mid pricers in the Mid or Fwd lines. But I think some are essential in Def & probably 1 Ruck. I have little to no interest in Rich either. He will suck plenty in.

      tom · 20/02/2015 at 18:59

so how many rookies do you have onfield in your fwd and midfield then pieman?

Bobby · 20/02/2015 at 11:43

Salem currently my F7. Is it worth keeping him or downgrading to a cheaper rookie and saving 60k??

    Kev · 20/02/2015 at 11:51

Impressed in the dees intra club match yesterday. Hang onto him for now

    I N Pieman · 20/02/2015 at 13:51

Think he's going to be my F5 Bobby. He's tearing it up.

Sizza23 · 20/02/2015 at 11:59

Taylor Hunt anyone?

    Kev · 20/02/2015 at 13:56

No thanks. Will probably be the tagger at richmond with dan jackson gone. Five years in the system and his highest yearly average is 64.9

      Sizza23 · 20/02/2015 at 14:27

Fair point. Just throwing it out there, worth a question being a sub 300k DEF. Sign of the times that he even crossed my mind

    I N Pieman · 20/02/2015 at 14:22

    Definitely not in the Hunt.

I N Pieman · 20/02/2015 at 12:43

If you haven't got Dane Swan in your Fwd line in Round 1 you'll be wasting a trade to get him. He's back. Smashed it in the intra club match yesterday.

    Jambo · 20/02/2015 at 22:16

Yep, another to seriously consider is Ben Kennedy, apparently close to BOG in yesterday's intra club match.

Rex · 20/02/2015 at 13:15

Seedsman or Ibboston???

big dilemma here

    tom · 20/02/2015 at 13:42

I like the look of Seedsman but he may struggle to find himself in the best 22

    I N Pieman · 20/02/2015 at 13:48

Agree Rex. Not sure if he's best 22 either. Ibbo has much better Job security.

    JoeWoolcock · 20/02/2015 at 18:07

I'd actually go for someone like vlastuin or yeo in that price bracket – both will get a run through the midfield and look to be ripe for breakout years.

I N Pieman · 20/02/2015 at 15:25

We may have a new defensive rookie unearthing himself. Michael Manteit is his name for the Pies. Apparently he was a stand out in the intra club match yesterday. He will need to come off the rookie list but the Pies have a spot even without Scharenberg.

    Nuggety · 20/02/2015 at 23:54

I like the sound of him as a bargain defender. Nickname Manboob?

      UDA · 21/02/2015 at 19:30

      manboob it is

scano · 20/02/2015 at 16:26

current backline is

Shaw, Hibberd, Newnes, Ibbotson, Henderson, Edwards with manteit and saad on the bench.
Thoughts? using the d5 statedgy but worrying if this Is too many risks?

    Kev · 21/02/2015 at 12:44

Back yourself in, scano. Many are running with a weakened defence which could be a massive disaster. No right or wrong ways to go in supercoach

    dognino · 21/02/2015 at 13:49

running with a weakened defence is one thing, but you have too many risks in 1 line imo. Shaw and Hibbo only played 18 games last year, shaw has only maxed at 19 games for a season for the last 7 years and hibbo showed signs of soft tissue injuries last year, ibbo and Henderson suffered LTI last year. There's 4 players who can miss games any week , in one line only. Personally I've had all of those guys run through my backline, but I will only be keeping one of them, if any , based on nab form. The rest I'm looking for value in players who have proven full seasons last year , with full pre seasons and are on the up.

Newnes looks to be in most teams, so is probably a mandatory pick for everyone now.

      tom · 21/02/2015 at 14:13

what premiums will you be going with then dognino? do you think I should downgrade ibbo/henderson down to a rookie?

        dognino · 21/02/2015 at 14:29

At the moment toying with just 1 premo and newnes at D2 , currently have Simpson at D1 purely for consistency of Plus 90 avg for about the last 6-7 seasons and durability of 22 games in 8 of the last 9 years. I do like the look of hibbo, but if I pick him, I won't be risking any players who are coming back from injury. I see value in players like newnes, vlastuin, rampe, s Mayes , guys who are coming up to 2nd,3rd,4th years who are playin more than 20 games last year. I'm thinking even if they hold their value, they are only a rookie downgrade away from trading to a premium.

          tom · 21/02/2015 at 15:21

yeah, I like the look of Vlastuin this year. Coming into his third year, he could go big! With Newnes at D2 are you going for that D5 statedgy? not sure if i have big enough gonads for that risk! Also, what are your thoughts on Docherty? Pretty much had his first full season last year and heard hes been training with the midfield group.

            dognino · 21/02/2015 at 16:24

Yeah, I have Henderson at D5 . Although if rookies appear I'm happy to run with more rookies. Only hearing the stuff on this site about docherty , again he would fall into the higher risk category for me, as he only played 16 games last year, so if I pick him, the rest of my backline would be more reliable

JoeWoolcock · 20/02/2015 at 18:18

Interesting inclusion of Mitch Wallis there Jock! It is such an awkward price to consider but with his tackling ability and hunger for the contest he makes a tasty bait on the tip of the line. Question is, will he bloody tag?!

    I N Pieman · 20/02/2015 at 19:38

Such a massive gamble joe. Might not tag one week & does the next. Too much risk for mine

      JoeWoolcock · 20/02/2015 at 19:52

For sure Pieman, not in my side at the moment for that reason

    vinnymac · 05/03/2015 at 15:01

With Libba out there’s a decent chance Bevo may put Wallis out to feed…

T-MAC · 20/02/2015 at 20:17

Toby Greene?

    Benjo · 20/02/2015 at 20:43

Massive risk vs massive reward. I don't have the guts to do it, but he would be a lock if he was 50k cheaper.

T-MAC · 20/02/2015 at 20:26

I here Delidio is back on track. Who do we pick? Martin or Delidio

    Benjo · 20/02/2015 at 20:42

Why not have both? In fairness, if you had to choose between the two, I would go Martin. More midfield time awaits hopefully!

      Kev · 21/02/2015 at 12:42

A lot of freakout over Deledio playing forward this year. He played this role second half of last year and smashed it. 100+ in 8 of his last 9 games

    Pauly Walnuts · 20/02/2015 at 20:49

Both are a lock mate in my team

Jonno · 21/02/2015 at 01:04

Looks like I'm going more light on to midpriced throughout my team with only a few premos.
Is this too much of a risk?

Any thoughts at all would be heavily considered.

DEF : Newnes, Mayes, Ibbo, Henderson, Goddard, Maynard (Rainbow, Saad)
MID : Ablett, Pendles, J.Selwood, Wines, B.Crouch, A.Swallow, B.Newton, Cripps (Boekhorst, Heeney, Freeman)
RUC : Mummy, NicNat (Cox)
FWD : B.Goddard, Swanny, Bont, T.Mitchell, Salem, Membrey (Hogan, C.Daniel)

    DL123 · 21/02/2015 at 11:51

DEF and FWD lines way too weak to justify a good team. It comes at a cost of your midfield being way overpowered. Try Crouch and one of cripps/newton down to 2 cheap rookies, the then create an extra premium in your weaker lines

    Kev · 21/02/2015 at 12:24

Nothing wrong with that team if it's a mid price structure you'll be running with. Great article by our very own Mick on the pros and cons for this strategy (along with a few others)

      Jonno · 21/02/2015 at 23:06

Thanks Kev, great article and very true about it being hard trying to pick the gems.
High risk but hoping for high return.

tom · 21/02/2015 at 11:12

Goldstein or Naitanui?

    Kev · 21/02/2015 at 12:39

Goldy for consistency. Undisputed number 1 at the roos. Missed 5 games in 5 years which is fantastic for a ruck

    JoeWoolcock · 21/02/2015 at 15:28

I would go both if possible but Nicnat looks the value pick at the moment

      tom · 21/02/2015 at 15:33

Haha I wish Joe! At the moment I have Goldy and Leuenberger but was wondering if I am better of saving a bit of cash and downgrading goldstein to nic nat. What do you think?

        JoeWoolcock · 21/02/2015 at 16:03

Ooh that's a tough one mate. Goldy's an absolute keeper but if you've got mid-pricers elsewhere in need of attention then don't hesitate!

T-MAC · 21/02/2015 at 12:07

Langford as a M6?

Langford is believe will be a good pick. Awkwardly priced would prefer someone like Swallow. But if you are low on funds would pick Daniel Rich myself. Still believe Langford will work, just not my preference.

Danny · 21/02/2015 at 12:09

I'm thinking of picking Buddy this year. I know he is a key forward, BUT, I see him running up the ground constantly and finding the pill. The man is a freak of nature. Should we be picking Buddy becuase I can see him more as midfielder than a key forward.

    Kev · 21/02/2015 at 12:30

Nothing wrong with that, Dany. After a slow start he averaged 113.6 post bye (11 games) with 5 scores over 120.

Danny · 21/02/2015 at 12:10

Nic Nat or Leuey?

    Kev · 21/02/2015 at 12:31

Nic Nat by the length of the Flemington straight and then some

Alex · 21/02/2015 at 12:18

Not a lot of talk about Nicholls from Gold Coast. Is he SC worthy

    Kev · 21/02/2015 at 12:34

He burst on to the scene in late 2013 and I was lucky enough to reap the rewards of his SC success. Athletic, competitive beast but like seemingly all rucks he as struggled with injury.

If he is number one ruck over Zac Smith seriously consider him. Better option than Leuy for mine

Kennie · 21/02/2015 at 13:12

I see T-MAC suggested Langford. I like him, but, will he become a tagger?

    Stickman · 21/02/2015 at 21:58

I think he will be the primary tagger this year. Not sure how much of an affect it will have on his scores as he only averaged 2 more points when not tagging compared to tagging. He also posted 111 and 113 when tagging in the semi and GF.

yuiop · 21/02/2015 at 16:34

Nic Nat and Leuenberger
Goldy and Leuenberger?

    Stickman · 21/02/2015 at 22:02

I have actually gone with Nic Nat and Goldy. Out of the two would go with Goldy. I think he will claim no.1 ruck in the comp.

    UDA · 21/02/2015 at 19:35

i rekon Rockliff's price will comedown thanks to deams

      BigDropKick · 21/02/2015 at 19:45

Thanks UDA , it has crossed my mind , might do a swap and save some $

      Super_Freak · 22/02/2015 at 09:30

Having Beams in the side also means another bloke to get the tag before Rockliff. He's a ball magnet. If he drops it won't be much, might even go up!

      General Soreness · 23/02/2015 at 11:23

Abletts price will drop too, price drops only matter if you sell, or if you are trying to buy at a later stage. You need to factor in the output you receive for the price to make decisions about starting or not.

    JoeWoolcock · 21/02/2015 at 20:08

Nice looking team mate, agree with UDA though. Save some coin on Rockliff, downgrade D Swallow to A Swallow (he'll average higher this year for 50k less) and use the spare cash to upgrade Bellchambers or one of your fwds.

      BigDropKick · 21/02/2015 at 20:23

Like it , had Andrew and upgraded to David , but think you are right . Thanks Joe

Made a few changes, trying to improve mid-pricers. Thoughts?
Enright to Thompson, Roberton to Gilbert, Blease to Rich and Swan to Mitchell.

UDA · 21/02/2015 at 22:58

whats up with robbie tarrent??? is he injured??

    SL17 · 23/02/2015 at 12:57

He has always had an injury issue but he is not a very great player, continually missed goals and was lucky to get double digits in possessions, will struggle to get in team, Petrie, Black, Waite, Brown the tall forwardline players who can take a big mark then there's Harvey, Thomas, Higgins, Turner, Ziebell or Cunnington to follow oh and Nahas of course. Tarrant won't play a game I think this year

SL17 · 23/02/2015 at 11:11

Thoughts on team:

DEF: B.Smith, Newnes, Lumumba, Mayes, Ibbotson, MacMillan (N.Brown, Rainbow)

MID: Gray, Boak, Griffen, A.Swallow, D.Thomas, Wells, Rich, Van Berlo (Cockatoo, J.Garlett, Dumont)

RUCK: Goldstein, Leunberger (Cox)

FWD: Franklin, Bontempelli, T.Mitchell, Billings, McCartin, Membrey (Karnezis, Clark)

    General Soreness · 23/02/2015 at 11:21

If you are looking to make the top 100,000 it may need some tweaking.

Any team that does not include one or more of GAJ, Rocky, Pendles, Fyfe or Jelwood is destined for mediocrity.

      SL17 · 23/02/2015 at 12:58

Thanks for the input just have trouble committing to a high price A+ player when there's other options, leaning towards Selwood as a tag never holds him back from scoring

Gday Jock,

I love the cheat sheets when they come out and read them thoroughly to gain vital insider insights.

I have just had a look back through cheat sheets through the last few years and wondered whether you have ever given yourself a report card on your final cheat sheet recommendations? Some of your pickups were pearlers but some…well, the key is learning and development, so thought it might be a useful article (like a couple of articles to date) to assess what went right, what went wrong, why so and whether these lessons learned can assist in 2015.

Love ya mag and your dedication to blokes like me agonising over ruck selections at 11.27pm on a school nite when the family is in bed.

With Libba out for the season, I wonder how it will impact Wallis’ scoring?
