PODCAST: Preseason episode 5
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
You show me yours – and I’ll show you mine.
Higgo, Crouching and I are close mates. And we don’t mind sharing the short and curlies of our preseason Supercoach teams with each other.
Team structure is bloody interesting in season 2015. Not only is the backline posing some very interesting selection questions – but the new dynamic of our ruck lines is significant and worthy of robust debate.
Enjoy the show.

Hey community,
Was wondering who makes a good M6. Do we go for someone like Rich or save money and go for someone like Cripps?
Daniel Wells could be a good option.
I feel a good M6 depends on how you see it. If you see a mdipricer like Wells, Rich, Thomas or even Langford averaging 100-110 I would say select them, and they could come handy as a M8 come seasons end or appreciate enough to be sideways traded to a fallen premium. If you don't see that average as realistic would go for a rookie such as Cripps, Biggs or Boekhorst who I see making a fair amount of cash. But early days to pick which rookies will be the cash cows yet.
Def: hodge, hurn, thompson, ibbotson, savage, rohan (goddard, vojorainbow)
Mid: abblett, pendles, barlow, danger, wines, swallow, crips, krokouer (freeman, steele, lambert)
Ruc: nicnat, kreuz (nankervis)
Fwd: goddard, swan, mitchell, membrey, clark, hogan (laverde, daniel)
Not100% sure of savage maybe Mayes instead?… I think I Will swap Rohan to Jones if named?
Any suggestions
kruzer is out of action for 6 weeks probably massive risk having him in your team just saying that's all my rucks I have mummy and burger from Brisbane
and don't get sucked in with all the hype like I have in the past when people start saying this player is having a great preseason rohan is crap never ever has had a good fantasy scorer danger is the same and the last few years swan has been looking bad as well just letting u know u could do better even tom Mitchell could be in and out of the team etc
Hey guys,
who do we feel will have a better season: Sloane or Dangerfield? Will pick one of them, leaning towards Dangerfield due to price.
All thoughts appreciated
Whoever gets tagged less
Dangerfield a bigger tag target in your opinion?
I would go richard douglas mate, less than both of them, key component of that midfield and will really enjoy the phil walsh system. Should return to ultra premo status this year and a POD. Thank me later
Im a massive crows fan and i won't go near Dangerfield this season. Sure he will average over 100 but he is also 100% leaving at the end of the year and can't see him going full beast mode and posting those 175+ scores. But having said this i also think Sloane is at the top of his price curve… so sorry to be of not much help there haha. Id pick Wines over both. Which kills me to say but this is Supercoach and THIS IS BUSINESS
Jal, i like your reasoning, nice words ,you make a lot sense
He has been in the past mate but Sloane had a pretty good year last year so you never know. For what its worth im gonna pick neither but consider both ad upgrade targets
Nice thinking. Both could be great upgrade targets if they dip near $500k at any stage
Hi community.
Who would you say is the better pick for my F6: Membrey or Hogan?
Hogan. From the little we've seen of him it looks like he likes to get up the field a bit and get involved, rather than a stay at home forward. Haven't seen any of Membrey but apparently he should get a game
Wow, who is your F1-F5?
Goddard, Swan, Christensen, Salem, Clarke
Membrey, Hogan has no AFL experience besides some NAB cup and Membrey is a gun who was stuck behind Franklin and Tippett. Membrey will have a great year taking the number 2 tall aswell.
Hogan for mine. Membrey isn't too bad a pick tho
Membrey!? What tha? The guy plays like a key forward. That's problematic in itself but when you consider he's about as tall as a post box where's he going to get points, or even games from?
I have gone neither instead gone fwd big nick roo lecras harly barnell jack martin think the boy will burn up the scores this year mitch clark and tom hawkings think he will kick 100 goals this year everyone will laugh at me when I say that
Beautiful work boys.
Higgo, to say I'm looking forward to your absolute genius working its way through the immense beauty that is Ocker's spreadsheet and my humble tables is an understatement of massive proportions. You boys and this community you've nurtured are the reason I'm in this caper and I couldn't imagine supercoach without it.
On the backline, I – along with others – am in the hunt for value. Any cash injected into the backline will be quickly lost unless you make phenomenal selections. I feel it should be invested where it will either appreciate or hold value, otherwise you're peddling against the current.
At $405k, what do you think about Rampe as backline value? He hasn't been spoken about at all and started playing off half back last year. For mine, he would be the obvious choice to replace Malceski's role… what do you think community?
punt could pay off but risky! seedsman is another i think at 363k
Similar boat there hey
Jai, my gut tells me that Rampe will play the exact role that he was good at last year. I think McVeigh/Jetta/Heeney will play the Malceski role. That being said, Rampe won't *lose* you cash, but will you be happy at his current average?
def: kade simpson, heath shaw, michael hibberd, jack newnes, brendon whitecross, tom clurey, dan mckenzie, vjojo-rainbow
mid: GAZ, pendles, priddis, ward, wines, van berlo, heeney, freeman, boekheurst, jayden laverde, daniel pearce
ruck: nic nat, kreuzer, cox
fwd: b. goddard, martin, swan, mitchell, clarke, h. goddard, hogan, caleb daniel
$22,100 remaining. thoughts?
I like it but you'll need to change Kreuzer as he's already gone down with an injury. It's making me more sure of my ruck strategy of having bench cover. You might want to think about that too.
Jock! Remember the old coach's ruse! Richo is trying to take the pressure off young Hugh and diverting the expectations of others. Hugh will be playing in the early part of the season. Mark my words!
But round 1 HJ? I had him penned in at D6 early days
what rookie defenders do you think will get the nod early on this season?
At this stage hard to say, the NAB Challenge should shed more light on that. At the moment I see Brown, Bews, Goddard, Clurey and Whitecross. And would not be suprised if McKenzie, Viojo-Rainbow and Edwards can push.
Bews = shutdown small defender = BURNMAN
Hi Loopy, don't be suprised if Jed is in a totally different role to last year. Watch the NAB and I reckon you'll see him playing a similar role to the one he played in u/18's. If he does (current training suggests that he might) he will be the the number one defender cash cow for 2015. Ideal D7,8
Big Big call there Wombats, Geelong have a habit of introduction slowly, slowly stuff ….. but you have made many a great call on this site in the past ….I will have a look see at him and get back to you mate.
Is the Juddernaught in your current team?
No way mate he's 100% nuffa for SC. Actually he's currently M7
Not if you blokes keep on shouting about it. Fortunately I have a backup 110+ POD
Is that Juddy wombat. He will either be a great pic or he will break. Im tipping the latter
Or maybe Jack Stevens π
Wombats me hairy mate, I hope your right! I'd love my structure with Bews playing the role you suggest he might. Word is that Kelly is going to push back more into the guts, and Smedts will be given a crack at half back. I'm not sure that Billie with the *IE* has it in him to be honest. Enter the kid named JED.
Def: h shaw hurn newnes ibboitson white cross jones ( Goddard vojo rainbow)
Mid: Ablett Selwood boak Ellis b crouch Steven van berlo freeman ( boekhorst heeney laverde)
Ruck:: Kruezer leuy (cox)
Fwd: Goddard d Martin swan Bellchambers petracca hogan( krakoer and Daniel )
Thoughts got 206k might change boak up to Fyfe or pendles and Ellis up to wines
Personally I'm not the biggest fan of ibbotson. I'd prefer Seedsman or hampton over him. And if i had that much in the kitty i would upgrade one of those premium mids for a super premo like JPK.
Petracca out now for the year as well π You will obviously pick a replacement once R1 teams are named, but Lambert (the guy Crouching spoke about in the podcast) would be one to look at as a replacement.
I don't think that too may of the educated souls that visit Jock Reynolds would have been considering Petracca anyway Cozza
Hey Jock, quick question re: Club Jock Supercoach group invitations. Have they been sent out yet??
Cheers BMo
They'll head out this week BMo π
Awesome, love your work as always
Significant http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/2015-02-09/lewi…
is having Wells at M7 too deep?
Mids at the moment are: Gaz, Pendles, Fyfe, JPK, Wines, A.Swallow, Wells, Heeney (Freeman, Boekhurst, Laverne)
Cheers
Excellent debates by the fearless threesome.
Think D5 is a bit deep without a rook. D4 seems the threshold. Believe they'll be at least 2-3 to choose from. Even the anemic 2014 there were ones to pick up.
Forwards seem the place to fritter with fallen prems. Plus there are some good choices. Wells, Swallow…that's two for the same team. Something will have to give. Not a great place to rely on faith. Assured scoring only.
Chomping at bit for NAB, so many of these issues, questions and concerns will be answers. Two weeks!
I'm a bit with Higgo here Throtts. If I'm not CERTAIN that my defensive rooks will score and play consistently, they will not be picked at Phil Ken Sebben (haha my sides name). I don't care if I have to bat as deep as cheap midpricers through D3-6. No more burnmen like Jed Bews!
Evening VC and Throtts. I'm almost certain to go rookie/mid priced heavy down back then inject the quality as it becomes apparent. Gagging for the NAB lads!!
Mate, who do the bloody Cricket think they are eh? Delaying the effing season! I'm gagging for the NAB too mate. It's all a bit like dancing with your sister (Higgo/Mother) until it starts!
Changed my team a millionth time… To the point I'm not sure anymore.. Haha
Any thoughts?
Del: Malceski, b.smith, newnes, Rohan, Goddard, Maynard (v-rainbow, z.jones)
Mid: Ablett, Pendles, Cotchin, swallow, b.couch, wines, d.rich, Heeny (boekhorst, freeman, krakouer)
Ruck: Naitanui, kruezer (m.cox)
Fwd: Goddard, swan, t.mitchell, daisey, membrey, hogan (Steele, c.daniel)
Not sure if I should trade up Rohan and jones for ibbotson or Seedsman and Newman. Don't think waters is worth the punt even tho he is tempting.
Ricky Henderson is the one. $300k and is a gun. Keep an eye on him in the NAB
Agreed.
Keep Wayno on for the whole podcast from now on I say.
Great value!
He did bring something different to the bungalow mate – like a young brushstroke of genius.
He's becoming a bloody fine young Austrayan Jock. He seems to be flourishing under your guidance (firecracker incident notwithstanding). I reckon he's nearly ready for you to start teaching him the-way-of-the-skirt!
I've been away from the internet trekking across NZ the past week and so have missed out on joining all of the leagues that people have posted π so i've made some of my own for people to join!! All welcome.

Will post my team up in a few days, i'm just a little behind in the creation of my team.
712713
Should be a good league once it's full
Hey mate! I just made a league that needs filling 643564
what are peoples thoughts:
leuenberger or kreuzer?
will tom mitchell get a game, if not thoughts on taylor adams- apparantly been getting work in the midfield in training
dane rampe (fills malceski position?), seedsman (fill lumumba position)
Got Taylor Adams in my team, thinking he's in for a breakout season
Great Podcast fellas, I'm still looking at Dogdog & Bigboy as my rucks not sold on kreuzer but if he's named rnd 1 with out warnock then i think i will have to put him in my side .
i reckon TBC is value as a stepping stone but defiantly not a keeper , with all our talls fwd and back we cant afford to run with giles and TBC in the same side would make us to slow a side which we already lack mid speed.
Maso
How is the jaw coming along mate???
Can eat again which is bloody good, plates and screw will stay in for rest of my life as a reminder of the time i had a rum with Crouching.
You still keen on The Big Boy Maso? You've been on him since early doors
yup hanging them out there Jock he will be in my round 1 side unless injured
So much to ponder gents. Awesome podcast. With so much uncertainty over who will be the top premo defenders this year I’m certainly in the camp of grabbing some undervalued boys & riding them up whilst the top premos reveal themselves. Waters ibbotson Pearce Whitecross are underpriced. Probably to risky taking them all. But I think 2-3 of them is a ballsy yet good option.
Brilliant strategy on Premo def itchy. I'm on the same wavelength and thinking that my starting D1,2,3 will be my finishing D4,5,6
I have to agree with you Womby, I'm even cheaper in defence then INP still looking t Bews ……….
Mate the community conversations that we had during defensive solution journey continue to grow in relevance with Lions, Eagles, and Hawks dropping off the field and rookies hiding in the forest. Suddenly the Swamp Wallabys call on Sammy Mayes is looking very shiny and even the Thai Fridges call on Jaksch, whom has now had a miraculous recovery and will play Nab, is looking good. Very spooky.
Mate I have applied your Therom, The Wombat Prime and Mayes is my D 3 and Swamp Wallby is correct after destruction down back at Lions, Waters is still a chance R1 but missing weeks of Pre Season in an older body is not good and the Jaksch call could be inspired mate
I fear you have been bitten by a slimy swamp mozzie and the Ross River fever has a hold of you! Even gnarly wombats aren't immune to that are they? Surely not Jakschschsh?! π
The thing is didn't make the call personally Loopy. If you follow the links in my Dimension traversing backline solution you'll see from the linked community conversation that the Jaksch name was put forward by an Asian spirit speaker who didn't even know that Aussie Rules was a game. She thought it was just a yobbo chant from the cricket.
He is a Blue is our Wombats so he knows of what the Thai Fridge likes …Did you know VC that Wombats and Thai Fridge did a desert trip???? It was all cosy after a brief stop in Broken Hill when the said fridge decided to demand more power, Wombats set it straight – Thai Fridge, some serious alone time and inhaled hallucinogens gave the birth to Jaksch not to be confused with ADL player
Our robust, hairy friend clearly operates on another level Dools.
hush on the sammy mayes pick boys. the secret ingredient to a few defensive lines…..
Not so secret wlf he was revealed as a potential D2-4 in mid January.
Maybe quiet about Pearce though?
Hahaha I think if he survives until round 1 he might be the most popular defender
I reckon this is the way to play DEF this year Pie. Like it
how is this for a cheap DEF:
Newnes, Vlastuin, Ibbotson, Rohan, Waters, Whitecross (goddard, rainbow) $2,117k…cheap and risky?
As always gents, ripping podcast, a buffet of food for thought across all lines, this year is shaping as one hell of a SC year. lots of divided opinions over lines, structures etc more than I can previously remember.
Youre not wrong General, im considering going against the norm and starting an almost all premium backline (minus Malceski – upgrade). i really rate the FWD rookies this year and thats where im thinking i might take the punt. I know the premiums are good there too, but the.only ones i see improving there numbers (thus making them underpriced) are Swan and Buddy, and perhaps a slight increase from Martin.
Sorry no paragraphs
thoughts on Sam Docherty? Heard somewhere that he has been training with the midfield group. With little value down back he could be a good option
Gday Tom, He had some time in the middle late last year and might get a few minutes in there again this year but it would be better for SC if he doesn't.
Last year was his first full preseason and he was good for 80+ running off half back and regularly delivered into f50 and kicked goals. Walker is still not training with the rest of the group and Simmo gets a pension card this year. Future looking Malthouse has Docherty Yarran inked for the Simmo Walker roles. Yarran is irregular so Doch is coaches first pick.
You wont lose money on him at 400k which means he will average the required points to justify starting D3 this year.
he too expensive.
Thoughts on Steele Sidebottom?
Think he will be a POD this year being a bye 12 player. I don't think you can have Pendels and Steele in the same side and theres just to many other top shelf bye 12 players to consider Fyfe; JPK and Ablett
Scanlon, sidebottom could now be the one that opposition coaches put time into slowing down. Yes, he will spend more time as a bona fide midfielder this year with Beams leaving, buuut… the 2014 trend of hard tagging the creative, outside link up types like Sidey could be a death sentence for him. Think Stephen Hill, Pearce Hanley. With tag = sub 80, no tag 120+.
I had him at M3 for a long time then I remembered that the only reason he ever got a kick was because the entire defensive focus of the opposition was on Pendle, Swan and Beams. 'Let sidebottom get it' was the opposition coaches strategy for regaining possession. This year Rectum Peripherus might get the attention of a tagger and I'm not sure that he has plums to deal with it.
Rectum Peripherus – Now that's a Keeper Not the player the nickname LOL
Anyone got any thoughts or scoop on Nick Haynes from GWS? Was consistent for like 7 weeks last year then out with injury. Considering in my keeper draft league. π
Looks like a solid pick, will be a POD and they must have some faith in him if they increased his contract another 3 years. A lot of risk, but you never know better than some other options out there.
Jock old mate, you blokes just blow me away with the wisdoms of the bungalow. Gold nuggets of SC gold. Bloody Higgo was on fire. A small nip of sherry really gets his creative juices flowing!
G'day VC. I bloody love it when the Higg has a sherry. He'll never admit it – but I reckon he had 2 yesterday!
Great podcast guys. Correct me if I'm wrong but Higgo I think you might be out smarting yourself though with the ruck/forward trade situation with an injured ruckman.
If one of your midpricer rucks go down you suggested if one were to have an injury you could switch the Cox type fwd/rookie ruckman to your fwdline and trade out an under performing premium forward to bring in another ruckman. Is it just me or would you then have a fairly pricey injured ruckman on the bench, a non-playing ruckman/fwd on your fwd bench as well as being down a premium forward that could potentially ping hunderds off again from the very next week?? You'd still need an extra trade in the forward line to fix the missing premium.
I think if anyone goes the route of going two midpricer rucks (kruezer/burger/TBC) you'd have to factor in some spare cash for the potential need to direct trade for a new ruckman before price rises. Therefor only needing one trade.
If your said premium forward just happened to be actually injured in the same week you could trade to a Ryder/TBC so your ruck is fixed with the Cox swap, and it gives you the opportunity to swap them back when the injured ruckman comes back.
I agree Marty. Using fwd/ruck swing to trade out an under-performing fwd to cover an injured ruck is crazy. Every supercoach knows that when a ruck breaks you shoot them and get a new one.
Higgo was on the Sherry and it shows with his comments, I'm sure that Jock and Crouching were doubled over pssing themselves laughing whilst Higgo tarnished his own good name with that Dribble.
Hopefully he'll have a listen to it when he's sober and make a public apology.
Glad it wasn't just me.
No Higgo tarnished his name 2 seasons ago with a dirge (a Higgo love sonnet) to Paige Cardona!!!
Last year it was some fool at WBD
This year he picked the same fool who now plays for NTH –
Higgo I love ya man – but Couching is just stringing you along and wasn't Burnman Boughton the big thing 3 years ago???
Every Family has one, We the JR Community have Higgo LOL
Serious repeat offender. Lucky for him he's a genius when not on the grog.
There needs to be a poll from the community on the mad side of genius LOL
Is Higgo getting a life now he's famous? Haven't heard bout his mum for ages.
Peter has been grounded for sherry drinking whilst at the Tarp studios with out suitable adult supervision!!!
His Mum is ropeable with him after yesterday. He's in serious trouble – will be all we can do to get him into the bungalow by next Sunday.
Christian Petrecca has done his ACL. Horrible for the young fella. For mine that makes Salem even more relevant. Also means Petrecca is in my 2016 side already.
Jeepers. Bad new for the yound lad.
Out of the terrible news that is a silver lining INP.
Horrible news eh Pieman. So many of these top drafts picks with serious injuries the last few years…
Agree, Salem now VERY relevant. Angus Brayshaw too.
Agreed Pieman. I have him penciled in for next year too.
Shocking news, hope he bounces back well.
Thoughts on my team?
DEF: Hibberd, Shaw, Newnes, Seedsman, Goddard, Viojo-Rainbow, Newman, Scharenberg
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Sloane, Biggs, Boekhorst, Heeney, Freeman, Steele, Lambert
RUC: Goldy, Leuey, Cox
FWD: Goddard, Martin, Swan, Walters, Hogan, Laverde, Daniel. Krakouer.
I have $146,700 left.
I don't know what to do with the extra coin. Do I downgrade Walters and upgrade Biggs to someone?
I'm open to suggestions thanks.
I think you will regret getting off Walters, what will downgrading Walters and upgrading Biggs give you? In my opinion Walters ($383000) is the best mid priced fwd or mid going around. He will surpass his 2013 ave of 88, remember that he played with a bung knee last 5 games of 2013. Look at his final four games last year after an 18 week lay off! Don't do it or maybe yes do it as it makes him even more a POD π
Hi T-MAC,
Is Seedsman Injured? I thought he had minor surgery on Hip and Scharenberg is I think under an injury cloud also…No McKenzie back there mate? and Hibberd is a soft tissue injury waiting to tear… But that just me on Defence.
Like a lot your Mids but the big 3 are sharing the same bye, but you have factored that in.
Rucs ae good
Fwds are good
Cheers Dools. I heard Scharenberg was back to full training. I may just trade Scharenberg for McKenzie. Seedsman, I havent heard any news. Who would you suggest instead of Hibberd?
What coin do you wish to spend and what do you want from your D2??? Keeper or upgrade??? player from a Strong team or just a performer back there ??
Keeper. I don't really mind who, but I want a reliable scorer who can score 95+ weekly
Call me crazy but I have 2 for you to look at no make that 3
1. Kelly Geelong . Highly likey to maintain Mid role at Cats
2. Smith Adelaide . Build on a strong year and play in more wins then losses.
3. Broadbent Pt ADL . Strong team that will most likey play in A GF
Cheers Dools, I'm thinking Kelly is getting a little old. Smith I'm good with but will his price drop or do you believe he will go up more. Broadbent, very interesting. I'll look into him.
Hi mate
Remember the last GF Geelong won back in 2011 – To old, To slow! To Good!!! Old players have seen it all and teams need older players on field Kelly is still relevant, however I understand your point.
Instead of Kelly I will offer up a juicy prospect – Vlastuin
Vlastuin, you read my mind! But this is a D2 we are talking about… not sure wether he will give me the same output as Hibberd, Smith. What are your thoughts on Houli
Not on my radar T-MAC. He has some good games but no consistent output.
My reason for suggesting Vlastuin 2013 AVG 75. 2014 AVG 67. He is only 21 and best part he has had 2nd year blues I think he is very undervalued and will IMO hit the late 80's early 90's Bonus is DPP but not why you should pick him …
Thanks Dools, may just stick with Hibberd at the moment. Is Seedsman actually injured?
Went under the KNIFE 29 Jan 2015 for hip surgery
Hi all,
Would appreciate any thoughts on improving this as I'm going round in circles now:
DEF: Smith, Hibberd, Shaw, Newnes, Whitecross, Brown [Goddard, Maynard]

RUC: NicNat, Leuey, [Cox]
FWD: Goddard, Martin, Swan, Mitchell, Salem, Hogan, [Daniel. Lambert]
Spent it all, only $1.3K left
Like the team rooboy, ruck stocks are a bit thin however, will be hoping to see a rookie priced ruckman in round 1

Hey Matt. Your Rucks could be your undoing. Have you considered getting one premo ruckman like Goldy? I don't really like Bartel. I'm a Geelong supporter and it hurts me to say this but Jimmy, has lost it a bit I reckon. I like the Wines pick, great young player.
I'm a feral Cats man too T-Mac. I feel ya re Jimmy.
Word from the Cats however, is that Jimmy is really covering the ground in the pre-season more than in recent seasons, and is looking to spend more time around the stoppages rather than inside 50. Interesting.
Who do you feel is a better option than Jimmy?
Happy to go with Nic Nat – remember the scoring system has changed this season which means taps to advantage are more important – one of his stronger points
Fyfe has gotten himself injured again.
I wouldn't worry about Fyfe injury. remember last year and there was talk that Selwood was injured, so no-one got him (I went StevieJ). he not only turned up round 1, he started the year on fire.
who is J Lever? tell us more!
Jake Lever is the crows first selection from last years draft. Key position defender who is elite in intercept possessions. There may be a spot in the crows back 6 for him so one to watch closely.
Thanks. Not keen omN key position players, need mid time
Wow…SIGNIFICANT NEWS…
Kreuzer has hairline fracture in his right foot and is in a moon boot!

Sam try posting your side in this format:
Example..
DEF: Smith, Hibberd, Shaw, Newnes, Whitecross, Brown [Goddard, Maynard]
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Selwood, Wines, B Crouch, Van Berlo, Biggs, Boekhorst [Heeney, Freeman, Vandenberg]
RUC: NicNat, Leuey, [Cox]
FWD: Goddard, Martin, Swan, Mitchell, Salem, Hogan, [Daniel. Lambert]
It's much easier for everyone to read and then give you feedback π
You need to get Birchall out, as he is injured and will miss the next few months.
That being said, you've got a few ballzy POD picks in there. If you get em right (Rich and Rioli in particular) you'll get off to a fast start!
Are you trying to be annoying on purpose? You will not get any responses posting that nonsense above!
Which would be the best combo for this year:
Jelwood, Goldy, Rich
or
Jacobs, Priddis, Rich
or
Minson, Treloar, Swallow
or
Minson, Wines, Dusty
or
Minson, Wines, Griff
I reckon the first one will be the way to go, but id like to have multiple opinions
Nic Nat, Wines, Griff.
Had to sub NicNat in as Minnow is a flog of the highest order
Give me feedback please…

Haven't forgot about h Goddard just not sure who to put him in for maybe brown?
Feel free to give any thoughts or tips , cheers .
I don't like TBC as a forward option. There are far too many premo forwards to choose from to fill one with a ruck. Kruezer is injured and will miss the start of the season. You may also want to watch Fyfe who injured his hamstring in training last week. N Brown has never been a good supercoach scorer so I'd put Goddard in for him, although Goddard is no certainty for round 1 either.
Love the Priddis selection. But I think you've gone for too many injury-cheap options. You need to balance these selections with solid durable selections.
Hey guys, would love hear your thoughts on Hartlett from Port as a POD this year?
Sorry don't really like Hartlett he has never taken that next step. Would prefer Matthew Boyd, only 3k more and averaged over 100 in 6 of the last 7 years. He will should get more on-ball tome with Griffen gone. Also have not seen a team with him so will be a POD.
Thanks mate, will take that into account. I know Hartlett has been dreadfully inconsistent in the past but thought that maybe 2015 would be the year he fulfills his potential. Boyd or Wines are more indeed reliable options round that price range
Whats the word on Beau Waters?? I know hes injured but for how long? will he be good by round 1?
Ive been hearing as late as after the byes.
Rather than go with Whitecross as a cheap backline option, why not go with Billie Smedts at $215,900? The mail out of Geelong is he is flying this preseason. I'm going to watch him in the NAB Cup and if he's picked in round one he'll be in my side. The kid can really play if his brain is right. What do you guys think
Just a word of caution for you Redgumwon,
Smedts does appear to be good value on paper but Cameron Guthrie is being reported to be flying this preseason as well and is being relieved of his tagging role. Guthrie is a mid only and someone else has to get the tagging role. BUT WHO?
Watch the NAB games very closely.
Thanks OldOcker I will watch the NAB Cup very closely indeed. It's getting pretty hard to spot the cheap value down the back half this year
Currently in my side. As an avid Geelong supporter 2 things Smedts has is speed and a good set of hands. 2 things he lacks is a body of a man and gut running commitment. I reckon we could benefit from Smedts speed with the loss of Varcoe. He had some strong performances late in the year VFL, watch the NAB, watch his fitness, watch how hes used. Could be a great POD
Thanks Cezza93 it sounds like a plan and if the kid can keep improving we might be on a winner here
Cezza, What's Thurlow going to do this year? Will he be in the team?
Thoughts on Henderson in defence? Tossing up between Henderson and ibbo at D4, would love eveyones thoughts?
Cheers
mate id go Hendo, after his injury and a few games last year the word is that he is training the house down, with all going well i can see him adding 100k plus to his value, plus i dint rate Ibbo
thanks mate. i will go henderson!!!
Henderson? I'd take Ibbo everytime unless i'm missing something.
Ibbo's supercoach scoring history is average at best. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.
Fair call, however Freo are talking him up like nobody's business this preseason. If he plays the backline sweeper like he did in 2013 i reckon hes got in over Hendo
Hey all, I need opinions on my M5, not sure who to go with between Boak & Ward. I'm leaning more to Ward because Griffen might get more attention freeing up Ward, but he is 38k more than Boak – my M6 is A.Swallow
I have a feeling Ward and Boak will avg very similar to last year if not slightly higher – both in their prime and surrounded by upcoming guns.
Ward all the way. It will be interesting to see how the GWS mids score as there will be at least 5 who could average 105 + in Ward, Trelor, Griffin, Green, Coniglio
hey jock,
i am just wondering could you make a article about fantasy team names?
Big kreuzer out for 6 in a boot things are heating up
Excellent podcast lads!
Kreuzer has gone down.
Jeez I love it when I'm right haha. Doesn't happen too often in supercoach!
Does anyone know nic nats average supercoach scores with and without cox playing?
Last year… with Cox 86, without Cox 120. Significant!!! He did only play 5 games without Cox though last year. Still, very good numbers.
That should be 81 without Cox.
I am thinking of one cheap option down back and not sure why no one has said anything about him? Was all the rage in 2013 starting rookie and brother of……Adam……Goodes. He is real cheap now and is a defender of 80+ quality.
Was delisted then taken up as a Rookie, Turns 31 today, purely a backup option only not relevant for SC without upgrade and best 22 claims.

I have 70k in the bank
Kruezer gone for 4-6 minimum will miss start of season.
I traded Leuenberger for Kreuzer now I have about 83k.
Never write your team in that format again. No one wants to look at it like that
Hibberd – ASADA?
Enright – Too old?
Waters, Whitecross – injury worries
James your defence needs some major work and some more money spent I reckon.
And yeah, take a look at how others format the teams when asking for help. Makes it easier to read.
Goodluck
Thanks
Does anyone know how Gary Rohan is doing. I heard he had a bit of a problem with his leg, but I read yesterday that he is training well and has no pain at all?
I hate to say it after last year, but he could be a good pick. He is looking in good knick and over his leg injury.
If only he could ever get a hold of the ball. Watching him over the last few seasons (when he did play) he seems to have everything going for him. But he's been the total opposite of a ball magnet too.Runs around a lot, always a second behind where the ball was. I'm not sure but if he plays down back he might get it a bit more as the rebounder? A risky pick that might pay off.
Is anyone thinking that Harry Taylor or Alex Rance is worthwhile in D2 or D3 positions? Could be POD , does anyone see them averaging 95 plus this year?
I think Rance will average atleast 90 but not Harry Taylor.
Call me a gambling addict but i'm rolling this dice more then ever with the midpricers this season!
As an aside. For those going in with the R3 as the VC loophole, Lewis Pearce from the Saints is the man, NOT M.Cox of the Pies. The Pies play 9 Friday night games, only 4 Sunday games. The Saints play only 2 Friday night games, but 12 Sunday games. Must give you more chances to use the VC loophole with Lewis Pearce than Cox.
Any feedback will be appreciated! Still torn between Docherty and Newnes and Hrovat as opposed to Dalhaus. Rookies will adjusted as per NAB. Gone for a few young guns in the mids and don't want to have any rookies on the field in my forward line, and seem to be the only one keen on maric! Cheers Trab
Defenders: Shaw, Hibberd, Docherty, Whitecross, Edwards, Goddard, (Viojo-Rainbow, Saad)
Midfielders: Ablett, Fyfe, Kennedy, Treloar, Wines, Crouch, (Boekhorst, laverde, freeman, Robinson, Steele)
Rucks: Maric, Luenberger (cox)
Forwards: Goddard, Dalhaus, Swan, Mitchell, Martin (jack), Salem, (Hogan, Lambert)
I'd be looking at Bontempelli before Hrovat.
This is one of the hardest years of first team selection since 2011
Feel like this is a good thing though…..less teams will be similar

A few too many key Forwards: Roughead, M. Clark and Hogan. Maybe trade Roughead and get a player who will get more disposals.
Better options
Hodge shaw or hibberd
Mid
Fyfe j Selwood Sloane or beams
Shaw & Selwood for me Jack
Hibberd / Selwood for me Jack
Reports in Perth that Beau Waters may announce retirement this week. Not surprising but a shame nonetheless. May cause some havoc given defensive stocks aren't the greatest this year. Could open up a spot on the list for Murray Newman (fwd).
sweet
What are people's thoughts on Curtly Hampton? Why are people jumping on?
I like him and now there is a little more depth in the GWS backline he may get of the chain more and score better
there idiots if they are no one has done there home work or has the prospectus that's my home work that is why I have the team I do

With the rucks I’m trying so hard to go with a set and forget strategy, but with the change in ruck rules it has me second guessing myself.
Anyone else think Big Ivan may have some value? Priced to average 99 and with an injury plagued start last year, managed to be a key figure in the tiger rise averaging 110 in the last 8 rounds. Even with the ruck changes it represents value.
I think I may of just convinced myself to take the big fella.
Hey guys, any advice on my team would be much appreciated π
Since the start of SC, I have changed it around about 15 times rrrr haha.
I'm taking a bit of a gamble on J.Griffin (freo) to bounce back from injury as the past 3 seasons before going down last year he averaged: 90, 91, & 110 – any thoughts on this roll of the dice? or is it too big a risk?
I should think about downgrading and putting I.Maric back in?
I am also worried about my midfield not being as strong as all these fyfe, pendles, and selwood options I keep seeing.
I have tried a diff strategy and gone for as many multi pos players as possible. i will watch/read about every game in the NAB chall.

I don't normally select mid range players very much but I feel like we are backed into a corner this year – anyone else taking this approach? please see below and let me know.
