what do you think about Will Langford? Really stepped up in Hawthorn's midfield late last season, and could take it to another level this season. Might be a nice POD?
Guess it gets down to whether you are willing to punt that he won't be tagging as often. No doubt he can find the pill but I think he will continue with a tagging role because it allows Jordan Lewis off the leash. Mid pricer, Personally wouldn't take the risk.
He'd be more appealing with DPP. At a tick under 400k he's too expensive for a midfield spot
Nice outside the box thinking Matty. This kind of selection would be the kind of risk you might run with ONCE across a whole team.. ONLY if you had some real confidence in him going the next level. Not for me at that price, likelihood is well see his output remain similar.
Solly Mr Jock … Slipper say me sing that song!
Many man say listen to gut. Crouching say not listen gut, listen slipper.
Welcome
But Higgins Crouch, Higgins.
Getting excited, seasons fast approaching.
I haven't seen much talk about mr Jobe Watson.. Strongly considering.
Also Jock, when can we expect emails/posts for divisional leagues and the club jock group?
Gday there Previoulsy – Invites for Premier League, Divvy 1 and 2 went out today. Stay tuned for Divvy 3 and Club Jock Group this week
Excellent Jock,
Dale Thomas I think looks like a valid selection Higgo! Finally feels comfortable on that ankle and has a full preseason behind him. Unfortunately Barry Mitchellson is in the same boat! Very tough selections!
My rule number 1 for 2015, no mid prices in the midfield!
Love you're work boys cracker once again! Never left the community down!
Thanks Maxy! Glad you enjoyed the podcast mate. You'll likely know my stance re: Dale Thomas.. I won't go there but hats off to any bloke who backs in his guts and comes up trumps.
Anyone know if the Jock mag is still avaliable from skeleton cellars? Im pretty keen
Yes guys, there are plenty of copies available at my shop. No need to call. We open 12-9pm daily. Get in and grab your copy! π
-Pete
Great thanks Pete il be down tommorow catch ya then
You're a community legend VC. Clearing a space for your bust in the community banquet hall
In the back line, all options should be explored. Not clear at all in the stern. Higgins has a rare DPP status and on a team that should be in the finals. All the makings of strong consideration. If he's floating through the mids, hard to pass up. Talent is there. Hope is body holds up. Not sold on him yet he sits near top of watchlist.
Ripping podcast again, gents. Hilarity mixed with excellent insight. If this were a soap opera, I think the day when Jock finally admits love will be akin to Jim and Pam getting finally together on the Office. http://goo.gl/1tZdtA
I love YOU Throtts, always have mate,
You are the second centerfold that has said that to me, Jock.
Hey throtts, have heard from a mate at North, Higgins is looking the goods. Will watch closely in the preseason.
Hey RogieBear. I'm sure he is. Kid has talent. Just keeping that body from falling apart. He's on the watchlist for D3 but others ahead of him.
Keep an eye on JMac, cheap on way back from injury n respected as a leader at the club. Should benefit from Mullett being out to make some cashola.
Hey Hazey. He's a looooooooong shot. But you make a good point about Mullet being out. I'm leaning towards (hoping for in other words) a decent starting rooking crop to slot in. Let those bad boys be my money makers. Usually can do it faster. Can't wait for NAB!!!!
Ripping podcast as always gents. Still cant touch Higgins even if they throw in steak knives and have to agree with Jock he averaged what he has averaged over his career and priced that way = no value. Would prefer to roll the dice elsewhere. Daisy argument has merit but with so much fwd joy this year he cannot be considered above others given injury woes. I know the risk vs reward arguments but the rewards have to be humongous to take on the Higgins Daisy type of risks and those sized rewards just arent there.
Hey General who are you considering instead of Higgins? I currently have him but don't trust him
Subject to NAB form at the similar price mark I am considering Newnes, Harwood, Hampton, McKenzie, Adcock, Haynes, K Kolo and L McDonald. Would prefer to pocket the coin and go L McDonald who will be better fitter and stronger and more likely to obtain as much if not more mid time than Higgins. I can see Higgins spending much time mid despite what B Scott says, those in front of him include Swallow, Wells, Dal Santo, Adams, Cunnington, Ziebell, Gibson and with the introduction of McDonald, potentially Atley, Dumont and Turner, Higgins at best is M7-M8 in his own team, I do not need that stinking up my SC defense.
Like to see you having a look at Luke McDonald general, He's on my radar as well – one hell of a kid this one and every chance to bust out this year
You're having a laugh mate.
Cant wait for the NAB – so many question marks on the mid-priced defenders – need to see their roles! Accurately picking a few of these guys could be the key this year!
* Mayes (potential wing role with Hanley now out?)
* Savage (same HBF distributor role?)
* Henderson (best 22 but where?)
* Docherty (wing role still his? push into midfield?)
* KK (HBF role in 2nd year?)
* Seedsman/M.Williams
* Harbrow (played on the wing under Eade at WBD)
* Vlastuin (3rd year breakout? can he get back into midfield rotations?)
* L.McDonald
* Johannisen (averaged 85 2H last year playing on the wing a bit – same deal in 2015?)
Definitely Kraken there is so many, potentials some will be traps others will be gold and many will produce about the same. Picking them is the hardest thing and may make or break a few teams in 2015. If Hendo gets a midfield run has massive upside but is more likely to be used down back. Along with Mayes there is Harwood both have claims, KK interests me a lot but needs a big NAB, but already has a high TOG% therefore needs to get more of it. See a lot of upside in LMac and little downside.
Anyone considering Rampe?
Not unless he has a significant role change in 2015, NAB will provide more.
Could he fill the Malceski void?
Thats what people are thinking, the horse reckons Rohan will, I am thinking it will go to a McVeigh and Titch into the middle, makes more sense to have an older wiser head directing backline traffic.
Lovely arrangement of mid priced lads there Krak. They'll break a lot of hearts this year a lot of those blokes!
Great podcast boys. No disrespect Higgo, but I just can't see Burn man Higgins having any upside at all. I feel it behoves me to intervene. You are an icon of the industry, a doyen of sorts but this decision if you go through with it will haunt you for seasons to come and I feel the pain it will cause you will leave deep scars. Please heed the wisdom of Jock before round 1.
Atley over Higgins for me
G'day there Hugh.. watched Atley closely last year. I'm not sure he has the goods to do what we need of him. Has sucked many in over several preseason now.
Atley will fail you every year. Mullet and Mcdonald will do their Defensive rebounding
Mullet to miss the start of the season I think?!? Throw $5 at the other Mac down back.
Anyone got any rock solid forward and midfield premiums that will perform this year??
Ablett!
Agree with General. Ablett is a reasonable option dobbsy!
Cracking podcast as always. Suprised only 52% with GAJ. I didn't start with Pendles last year & it was tough to get him & had to spend plenty of the war chest to get him eventually. Won't be making that mistake again. GAJ Pendles just lock them away from the start. Trying to get an essential player at 6fiddy is tough.
Agreed Pieman. Ablett, Pendles and J.Selwood all locked in for mine.
I had the same issue Pieman. I'm also not making that mistake again.
GAJ and Dependles all the way here as well gentleman
Key is to have provens in your side. Those two are as proven as you can get. Went last two years with one or the other out. Almost tore main brain muscle trying to get either in from R1 on. Not worth it. Slot 'em in and spend the mind juice worrying about the others.
Glad to see that experienced and wise minds are of the same mindset. The more you research and listen and read, the clearer the direction we need to take
Ripping podcast again guys! Bravo.
I still cannot come around to the Higgins-Mania. If you so desire a defender that 'runs through the midfield' and has DPP status, then stop being a tight ar$e and spend the extra coin to lock in Burgoyne or Hodge.
Higgins-Mania doesnt strike the same amount of fear and awe as Hulka-Mania. I cannot see Higgins-Mania catching on.
Hahahahahaha it certainly doesn't GS!
Well said. Nothing will approach those heights of Hunkinsanity, General.
Great stuff boys! The one amazing stat is that only about 4% with Brad Crouch. Seems most people haven't done there research only once under 90 when he came back in round 15. He's not going to be your captain so it seems like a lock to me.
Got the tweet of Barron today – in his team. Might find his way into mine as well.
I'm with you Danners, got him locked away already.
Not sold. Like Titch, never shown to get through a full season. And at that price, you want to be sure. Trend carefully.
What the hell is happening down at Flapping Trap Studios???
Have you paid the rates? is there something in the water? Can't you flush the toilet? The tea has been tainted!!!!
Peter how can you perceive value in the Higinsesesesssss? How can you justify him as a POD? How can you spend the coin? Why not pick Greg "Burnman" Boughton ? Same coin same output and he would be a Genuine POD as now one else will touch the dude
Flush the toilet Jock, remove the bad humours and watch it make it's way to Werribee Farm!!!
I'm concerned as now our Oriental Master is belting out tunes backing this selection. Intervention?
More like a lobotomy required or at the very least electric shock therapy….Snap him out of it mate!!…………. and Peter as well.
Agree with Twoof above………. Pay the council Rates Jock! Rant over
Great Pod gents –
Shirt front him with your Fridge!
As always, Gold Dools!
Ripper podcast once again boys!
Have three questions I’d like answers for:
1) Who will have the best year of Griffen/Swallow/Crouch/Wines and also out of Cripps/Newton/NVB/Biggs
2) Who is the best defender under $364k apart from L McDonald and G Ibbotson
3) Had anyone been paying close attention to rookie-priced this year and if so which ones on each line have the best chance of game time?
Currently my rookies are:
DEF:McKenzie, Goddard, Viojo-Raimbow
MID: Cripps, Boekhorst, Freeman, Laverde, Heeney
RUCK: Durdin
FORWARD: Salem, Clark, Hogan, Daniel
Thanks in advance
1. On history Griff, my gut says Crouch and Wines will battle it out, favoring Wines. Newton, Cripps, Biggs, daylight then NVB.
2. Value = Waters
3. Yes, no idea until rnd 1 team selection, some will play their way in others will play their way out. I expect Hogan (fwd), (no rucks but Nankervis if I had to pick), the first three named in your mids are a fair chance along with Heeney, NFI (backs).
Great pod fellas!!! Just wanted the community’s thoughts on some gun mids. I have $2.6mil to spend on 4 midfielders, and I wanted to know who the community thought I should pick. Currently I have Ablett, Selwood, Sloane and Priddis, but what other good combos does the community think I should go with?
Greg solid picks there mate, there is a ridiculous amount of mid options, and much of it will depend on your team structure, all I can suggest is do your research, here, the JR magazine etc and pick those you think are worthy of the prestigious place in your SC team.
Thoughts on Luke McDonald?
Like him significantly more than Burnman Higgins, all the upside without the price tag and years of absolute rubbish!
How many mids are people going with over 400k?
5-6 is the general concensus 5 if your going premo ruck or extra Def or 6 if mid price Ruck or thin def.
Cheers Soreness. I currently have 4 defenders over 400k and I have one ruck premo and a mid pricer along with 3 players over 400k in my forward line. I have 5 big mids with Ablett, Fyfe, Pendles, Sloane, Selwood. I really want crouch in my team but not sure if i get him into my midfield if my mids will be too top heavy and my team will be unbalanced.
Also, do you think Brodie Smith is worth it at his price or should I consider other players like Hodge or Birchell, seeing as though I already have Hibberd, Shaw and Newnes down there
I am keen to watch NAB to see Smith's role, I do not see it changing despite suggestions of more mid time. Who moves an AA half back?? I like the way he goes about it, but I would be more likely to consider Birchall for proven output, Hodge is proven but is probably going to miss a few injured. We eventually want top heavy everywhere but mids first as that is where the points are, there is a school of thought that getting there faster by loading up is the way to go in 2015.
Cheers fellas
Pieman, whats your team looking like if you dont mind me asking? Would you be willing to post it in the comment just for interest?
I’ll think about it T-Mac. Very serious league created by all the boys who wrote the preseason articles including the past 2 champs. Add to that jock & crouching mad mick the baron & it’s a ball tearer. All star cast. Not sure I want the buggers to see my highly controversial line up. Which most certainly does not include Higgins. Having said that I won’t stop with advice & probable value picks & my rookie wisdom. At the end of the day we all pick a team which has some gut feelings. Never be influenced by somebody else’s team.
Good call pieman, keep your cards close to your chest
I can tell you one player Pieman has…..Salem in sitting in at either F4 or F5. I have 6 midfielders over 400k currently and if the mid rookies aren't looking to good, I may go 7 yet.
Regarding Smith I'm very bullish. Personally I think even if he does stay in defence he can up his average by 5 points just through natural improvement being a young fella. If he moves to the midfield its a bonus!
Haaa keeping the cards nice n close is the pie! Love it mate
Is it even possible to fathom the thought of not selecting GAJ? All the stats say pick the bloke but I just have that silly gut feeling.. I feel like a bad bloke too for even suggesting this!!
In saying that, currently my midfield sits as:
Pendlebury, Kennedy, Wines, Griffen, Swallow, Steven, NVB & Morabito.
Subs being: Heeney, Boekhurst & Freeman.
Thoughts on how i can strengthen this area?
Plenty of other Mids & DPP’s throughout the lines so it’s just a matter of fine tuning.
Thanks in advance fellas and can’t wait to get the mag in the post this week! Your input and advice is invaluable and the community can not thank you enough!
Don't pick Ablett and you will be burning trades to get him in. If he goes down injured, you have 700k to splash on trades. If he goes BEAST, you will be trading like mad to get him in
If you're starting a midfield without Ablett, then you need a more robust M1 to M6 than the one above.
I would think something along the lines of:
Rocky, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Selwood, Sloane/JPK, Swallow/Griffen/Steven, Rookie, Rookie.
So much risk in that M3-M6. Wouldn't be going in with anymore than 2 of those Max.
Hey guys the link isn’t working for me what is the league code cheers?
Who should I choose out of Wines and Crouch and why? I rate these two highly and can't split them so I am hoping the community can help me out! Thanks
Footy I have the same thoughts. I love them both as well. Crouch may be more of a POD but it may also help you to pick one or the other depending on your bye rounds
Yea I guess I will, thanks T-Mac
Hi FootyFanatic, I have same problem as you, so I solved it by picking both !
I have a feeling both will go large this year !
My mids are – Ablett, A Swallow, Miles, Wines, Crouch, Macrae plus 5 rookies, so really need them to perform.
Going with the 6 500k or over strategy this year.
Good luck
Hey Tony,
I hope your running five super premo fwd/ back as that , midfield is short on proven big scorers. You are taking a big risk running with that many potentials. I hope it works, as I would love to watch wines, crouch and macrae rip it up in my midfield. Unfortunately I do not possess the testicular fortitude to play these three, let alone adding in , miles and swallow. Best of luck.
Love your work boys wondering I'm in need for a cash generating forward price 350,000-450,000 other than tom Mitchell anyone got any options, also like to know people thoughts on h Bennel and alex dance . Cheers
Michael Walters is 380k. Averaged 88 a couple of years ago. If he can push up to 90+ will hit the 500k mark. Can't see much else, maybe Cooney will make a little bit, but not too much with his price.
Agreed, Walters the standout in that category.
Jack Martin @ 300k is in my team and WILL have a breakout year
Taylor Adams. He will play midfield this year and can rack them up and is good in close
Hi community,
Whats your thoughs on this line up for this defence
Hibberd/shaw/Hodge? Newnes, Seedsmen. Ibbo and Waters. NAB rookies for the theother 3 places
Not going big on top def which gives me a tidy mid spead.
Thoughts welcome
Henderson from ade
Don't mind that structure mate,
D4-D6 of Ibbo, Waters, Rookie could be quite popular.
Word is McPharlin is healthy and training well, which for mine is crucial to Ibbo's output.
Great point t_woof!
Any one got the good oil on Clancee "Of the Overflow" Pearce???
Noooo idea Dools. We'll no doubt know Rossy's intentions in time to act, as he is normally pretty vocal with 'where his players are at' during pressers. "Of the Overflow" is now very relevant with the lego man Waters getting injured again!
hahahahahah nice one vc
Wouldn't mind peoples thoughts on my team. Say whatever you want, I don't mind.
Backs: Smith, Hibberd, Shaw, Newnes, Waters, Goddard, Viojo-Rainbow, Newman
Mids: Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Sloane, Biggs, Boekhorst, Freeman, Steele, Lambert
Ruck: Goldstein, Leuenberger, Cox
Fwd: Delidio, Goddard, Swan, Hogan, Clark, Laverde, Daniel, Krakouer.
I'm wondering if Smith is worth it or wether I should trade him for Birchell.
I'm not sure on Fyfe, seeing as though he is injury/suspension prone.
I wanted either Wines or Crouch, but don't know if thats possible (I'm open for tips/trades to make to make it work)
Also I'm not sold on Clark, if there is any other rookies to fill his spot or any other rookies anywhere else on the field, please let me know.
Cheers
Solid team T-Mac, if you're worried about fyfe you could swap him for swallow, save 160k. Not sold on Biggs, nab watch list, a bit expensive. Vandeberg from Melb is mentioned in the rookie cheat sheet but once again nab watch.this will save you roughly 70k. The combined saving could allow you to upgrade Clark to say, Walters from freo 380k. Rest of the team I wouldn't change
Mate all looks OK, I know it's a long way off but your 2nd round bye coverage looks thin with 3 of your prems not playing
You're in a good place, T-MAC. Those I've seen commenting on posts during the preseason have put together some really good teams. I agree with Glorin below, you've got 4 defenders there over 436k. There is better value in the plethora DDP fwd/mid options that, IMO, will have a higher season average than any of those 4 backs
Watch out for Waters. I don't think that shoulder is going to hold up.
Your midfield is awesome!!
Leuenberger only training 2 out of three sessions each week. Concerning?
Did you read the article on him, crowmagnon? I can understand why they aren't pushing him too hard given his injury history. Watch him during the nab cup. I have him as a better option than Kruze and BC
All thoughts on POD – T.Cotchin & J.Watson – both captains who from all reports are on the best shape of their career
I'm considering Jobe. I reckon he will be a top 6 mid for the year, and he is at wayyy unders.
Cotchin brunt me so bad last year. Don't think i've recovered enough to take the risk.
I had cotchin all last year and won't be getting him this year. he is an honest pick but hasn't got the high scoring potential of others. Sam Mitchell is better value and similar scoring potential
Jobe Watson is very tempting. Clearance machine.
Downside with Jobe is that he shares the round 12 bye with Gaz, Pendles, Fyfe etc
Will he get tagged now with heppel being around? If not very tempting
Hey T-MAC,
Really solid team. Great balance throughout. Can I suggest you follow your thoughts and swap Fyfe for Wines/Crouch which will give you some cash to upgrade either Clarke or Hogan. I would go Clark. Your forwards are little short given the balance of quality elsewhere.
What is your opinion of Karnezis? Skillful but seems injury prone to me.
Did fairly well in the VFL last year wouldn't be surprised if he plays round 1. If he plays round 1, the worst case scenario is he averages 50 and gets to about 270k. Still a 140k profit. Injury isn't the biggest concern, I think consistency on the big stage is.
Has no engine
Will it be too much having Crouch and Sloane in my midfield since they both play for the same team. Also, I have come to the decision to drop Nat Fyfe, due to him having the round 12 bye, and I'm not sure if I'm willing to risk him missing games through injury with his shoulder and suspension.
You'd do Pendles and Beams. Or Pendles and Swan. That shouldn't be an issue. Issue would be picking Crouch. Hasn't played 15 games much less 22. Would like a bit more assurances given that $500K price tag. Lot of potential for sure…but that comes with a lot of hope that his body is up to a full season.
How many onfield rookies should we have in the midfield? At the moment I have 3. Is this too many? Should I upgrade to Wells?
That entirely depends on your structures, Tom. Three is fine, but as the mids are the most important position you want your M1-5 to be all proven premiums
Its finally here what a glorious magazine three pages in and already at the peak of the arousal curve cheers to you fellas
My gut is telling me to go Jack martin in my forward line! Thoughts guys?
Watch NAB challenge, could be a good option
Bit of a blow to our backlines!
https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/2625365…
Was only a matter of time unfortunately
Yes, probably better now that round 1
thoughts Gents?
DEF – N. Malceski, K. Simpson, H. Shaw, S. Hurn, B. Waters, H. Goddard, Z. Cordy, A. Saad
MID – G. Ablett, S. Pendlebury, J. Selwood, J. Kennedy, R. Griffen, A. Brayshaw, J. De Goey, I. Heeney, C Blakey, j. Steele, K. Lambert
RUCK – N Naitanui, M. Leuenberger, M. Coc
FOR – b. Deledio, D. Swan, P. Ryder, C. Petracca, M. Clark, J. Hogan, J. Laverde, C. Daniel
Waters is injured
Pretty solid team, only problems for me are 2 rookies over 200k, lots of $ for players who've never played afl. And ryder, lots of money on a player where his role is unknown. May play second ruck and spend more time forward which will cost him points.
thanks Ryan – would you suggest anyone else for the 2 rookies and Beau waters?
Freeman from collingwood, also jock reynolds put up a rookie cheat sheet detailing the best rookies to pick.
As for waters there's a couple of ways you can go. With the money saved from picking cheaper rookies, you'll have about 435k which is enough for newnes from saints. Popular pick here at JR, and he's priced at 432k
Hope that helps
From all reports Bradshaw has been like to fine wines so worth the coin, maybe not Petracca my gut says
waters injured …..AGAIN
Yes but probably better now than round 1
Hey community, all input appreciated.
Defence: shaw, Hibberd, Duffield, vlastuin, s Edwards, h Goddard, viojo-rainbow, Mckenzie
Midfield: Pendlebury, Kennedy, priddis, heppel, swallow, b Newton, Cripps, heeney, Laverde, freeman, boekhorst
Rucks: Goldstein, natanui, cox
Forwards: Deledio, Goddard, swan, Walters, Bellchambers, hogan, Daniel, lamb
Concerned about Newton and Cripps, but nab will unearth rookies. Any thoughts appreciated
is that T lamb?
Sure is
Like the look of Vlastuin , DPP also, will pinch hit in the guts, break out year coming me thinks !
Vlastin will be a sensational pick. he is in my team
Agree, was my 30th player selected due to price. But going to be in there round one
ok, so I've got 15 premiums and 7 rookies in my top 22.
thats about the average. Have to lookout for team lineups released a couple of days before round one.
yep, I just pray that the rookies that are selected for round 1 are the same price as the ones I have in my team ATM, I actually really like my 15 Prems –
I got rid of Waters and got another rookie
brought in libba for the 200k rookie (libba might pick up extra points now that Griffen is gone you think?)
Had him last year, scored a lot more when Griffey played, due to getting tagged when griffen was injured. I really like the look of wines from port
thoughts on Zeibell in the forwards?
thoughts on Zeibel in the forwards?
Dangerfield? worth it in the MID?
Will Rocky lose points with Dane Beams there?
That question makes it hard to pick Brissy boys Nathan. Danger could be a good pick. Can go very large
With Waters going down, is it too much to ask if my backline looks like Shaw, Hibberd, Birchell, Goddard, Viojo-Rainbow, Lever, Newman and another rookie? Or should I spend some extra coin to put Newnes down there and have 2 on field rookies.
Bobby it really is horses for courses. If the rookie is gunna play and more importantly, SCORE, then pick them no matter where they play. If that means u only end up with one rook in your backline then so be it. Ideally tho, it would be awesome if 3 or 4 backline rooks emerge in the NAB as solid options!
Seeing as though Waters is going down, are there any good backline rookies that I haven't listed?
Goddard
Viojo-Rainbow
Newman
McKenzie
M Dick
J Lever
Maynard
Depending on what ASADA do, Shaun Edwards might be a good one
Peter Moore's boy at Collingwood can play abit
there is an irish bloke at Port who I saw in the NAB cup last year. good player. he got home sick and went back to Ireland. I believe he did come back and played in the SA league. I liked the look of him as a mature aged Galic footballer. D Flynn!
went back again to pick shamrocks…not coming back
Flynn left as he could not get a decent Guinness down there. Pity really he had potential
Hes injured though!!!!
Leigh Montagna Anyone? $480,300 – Tempting
Getting a big long in the tooth
he did grab my attention for a few seconds as I was going over the list, but there are many better!
NOooooooo!
who would you be thinking about. Vlastin, Ibbotson or Savage?
Have to wait and see on the NAB for form/role on that one…..Unless if you've got a coin with a head, a tail and something else
Agree with Phil here, picking mid pricers is tough at the best of times. NAB Cup will hugely influence our backline choices this year.
FWIW – If Vlastuin can get back into mid rotations he'll be a nice option. Saw a comment that McPharlin is fit and firing which will free up Ibbo. Confess to not knowing much about Savage or his role at the saints
Kev, I reckon he might tag
Henderson (ade)
who out of Motlop, Ziebell or T Mitchell?
Tom Mitchell every day of the week! Should easily make best 22 this year!
Mitchell if he plays. If not Ziebell.
Thoughts in my current team?
DEF: Smith, HIbberd, Newnes, Rohan, Whitecross, McKenzie, Goddard, Viojo-Rainbow
MID: Gaz, JPK, Heppel, Dangerfield, Rich, Van Berlo, Freeman, Newton, Heeney, Cockatoo, Boekhorst
Ruck: Nic Nat, Kruezer, Leuenburger
FWD: Deledio, Goddard, Martin, T.Mitchell, Laverde, Petracca, Hogan Clark
Still considering Wines/Griffen/Swallow/Crouch/Swanny among others.
Anything you'd change?
Mids look at bit weak, Andrew5. A lot of the teams I've seen are running with at least a 5 premium midfield this year. Rich, VB, Newton, Cockatoo is high end mid rookies and you don't need them all. Look for cheaper rookies to free up some cash
Don't get sucked into Rohan. Even with the talk of a change of role whether he is any good at it remains to be seen.
Looks good elsewhere. A few rumblings about Clark in the community. Don't trust his body holding up
Made some changes with Waters going down. Thoughts?
DEF: Hibberd, Shaw, Birchell, Newnes, Goddard, Viojo-Rainbow, Newman, Maynard
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Sloane, Biggs, Boekhorst, Heeney, Freeman, Steele, Lambert
RUC: Goldy, Leuy, Cox
FWD: Delidio, Goddard, Swan, Walters, Hogan, Laverde, Krakouer, Daniel.
Any comments are appreciated greatly
Looks alright Tommy but id add Zac Dawson down back as he is underpriced. He has been training with the midfield group in the offseason.
Zac Dawson is horrible stay away ! He will score no more than 50
Looks great, Tommy! Hard to find consistent defenders so perhaps a bit of overspend. Downgrade one of D1-4 to a rookie and upgrade Biggs to an underpriced gun
I'm liking Maynard pick but NAB and pre selection R1 will settle any doubts
Mate, you are very very light in the midfield!!! I would looking at getting rid of dustin martin to start with, he will be 60-70k cheaper at least once throughout the year (always drops in price), upgrade target! I can't see the point of having a $360k player on bench (luey) not getting you points. Swap Dusty for swanny and luey/kruezer to a rookie and you will 330k to turn Rich (trap) into pendles/fyfe/selwood etc or van berlo into a high premium. Just my opinion only.
Hey guys,
Just wondering thoughts on the EFC and their pending suspensions
Personally i hope they don't get found guilty for the betterment of the AFL (that said I would love to see them suspended because I can't stand James Turds arrogance) and from a supercoach perspective I think it has a massive positive two fold effect
A – their premiums aren't great picks I feel so makes it an easy to avoid traps
B – and most importantly it forces them to play rookies, which makes picking rookies extremely easy across each line
To VCLOOPHOLE,
Do you own the bottle-o??
If so, to all the guys who purchase JR mag, let's support him by buying a 6 pack and support the bloke helping us all
here here Random! Make it a slab eh
Can someone buy me a slab? spent the last of my money on the mag!!
Yes I do mate, but that's not why I put my hand up to be a collection point.
Jock's done so bloody much for me over the years that I just wanna give back to his community and make it easier for their awesome mag to get into as many hands as possible. It's also been great fun meeting lots of community members and chewing the SC fat with them for a bit!
With Waters going down Wombats world famous backine solution just got a whole lot harder…..I'm confident I've got the points covered but 150k over budget.
Wombats backline wont work this year! you"ll be loosing on another line!!
Def – h shaw , l hodge , m hibberd , b waters , b whitecross , h Goddard , ( rainbow , clurey)
Mid – g ablett , n fyfe , j selwood , r sloane , a swallow , n van berlo , I heeney ( boekhorst , freeman , Mckenzie )
Ruck – n natanui , m kruezer ( read )
For – b delidio , d swan , t Mitchell , m Clark , c Salem , j laverde ( Daniel , hogan )
Love your work boys and just like anyone to give me some tips and tell me how you think this team is coming along also thoughts on nic nat and r sloane
Waters gone Bra'
oh and Sloane and Nic Nat good picks imo
G'day Tyler, you're one short in the mids there mate. If MM has Kruze playing forward scratch him off your list. Forward line looks weak with Clark at F4 (who won't make it to the byes without breaking down IMO) You got cash leftover to get Goddard in there?
Had another tinkle around with the my side,
Whats your thoughts on this team commuinty
Def Hodge, Newnes, Seedsmen, Ibbo, then Lever J, Goddard , Rainbow and Newman
Mid Ablett, Penddles, Selword, Wines Giffin, Swallow, Biggs then Boekhorst, Freemen and Lambert
Rucks Dog Dog, Luey
Fwd Lids, Goddard, Swan , T-mitch, Hogan then Steele, Daniels c and Krakouer
I'm still tinkering.
Cheers
Looks good mate. As per this article Seedsman could be missing for the first few weeks of the season http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2014-01-28/s…
That article is from 2014 Kev. I think this is what you mean:
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-01-25/surgery-for…
Ahhh, cheers mate. My mistake
Haha it actually turns me off Seedsman for 2016 if u guys have found 2 articles of this guy in different years in this month. Higgins 2.0
Ok Community, I think this where my head is at for the start of round 1 – (pending injuries, starting rookies)
DEF: N. Malceski, K. Simpson, C. Hampton, P. Seesman, H. Goddard, D. V. Rainbow (D. Mckenzie, A. Saad)
MID: G. Ablett, S. Pendlebury, J. Selwood, J. Kennedy, O. Wines, B. Crouch, A. Swallow, I. Heeney (C. Blakely, J. Steele, K. Lambert)
Ruck: M. Leuenberger, M. Kreuzer (M. Cox)
FWD: B. Deledio, J. Bartel, D. Swan, J. Hogan, J. Laverde, C. Daniel (T. Lamb, J. Lonie)
feedback my fellow AFL community??
You're taking massive risks in the ruck to fill out your midfield. In my opinion, it's too much of a risk. I'd drop one of Wines/Crouch/Swallow and either pick a playing bench ruck for insurance, or upgrade Leuy/Kruze to less injury prone players.
DEF- Simpson, Shaw, Hibberd, Walker, Goddard, Dick — Mckenzie, Maynard
MID- Ablett, Fyfe, Selwood, JPK, Hannebery, Heeney, Boekhorst, Vandenberg — Freeman, Dawson, Krakouer
RUC- Nic nat, Kreuzer — read
FWD- Deledio, Goddard, Martin, Swan, Salem, Lamb — Daniel, Steele
Would appreciate any thoughts!
Nice balance to your team, Tom. Love the Liam Dawson selection, definitely flew under the JR community radar. Pity he's not a defensive option as he's described as a rebounding defender. I'm going with Luey over Kruze at this stage until Kruze's role has been locked down. Don't like the talk of MM playing him up forward. Luey scored 96 in his one game with Stef Martin
Hey Community V4 is out. Would love your thoughts.
Def: Shaw, Hibberd, Birchall, Waters, Whitecross, Lever (Goddard, Maynard)
Mids: Ablett, Pendles, Selwood, Watson, A Swallow, Van Berlo, Boakhorst, Freeman (Vandenberg, Dumont, Heeney)
Ruck: Nic Nat, Kreuzer (Nankervis)
Fwd: Deledio, Goddard, Franklin, Membrey, Clark, Hogan (Daniel, Clark)
As a big Hawks fan I love my blokes, but they are not fit for SC. I am staying away from Birchell this year, and I don't think Whitecross will be in their best 22.
Birchell, Waters, Deledio all injured. Too many KPF's in Membrey, Hogan, and Clark
I just heard Delidio has gone down with an achillies!!!!
There goes my F1.
Mine to General, but allows me to bring in someone I wanted but couldn't fit,,,
Sorry lads. Replace the on field Clark to Swan
I have SC Gold and I'm not seeing any stats on % of teams that have a certain player? In fact no stats are listed in the Players area. What the?
click on Coaches choice
I hear scharenberg is back to full training, Delidio and Birchell got injured… any truths?
Who would you have in your forward line since Delidio has gone down? I currently have Goddard and Swan. Was thinking either Gray, Martin, Dalhaus or Mitchell.
You could make a good case for all 4 but I reckon Martin for me. Whilst I think Gray will be 1st or 2nd averaged forward, Port have a difficult early draw so he's upgrade material for me. Dalhaus should play more mid and Mitchell should play, but I just don't think these guys will improve enough to be top6. There's stiff competition this year
Is it still possible to get the magazine in store or online?
I just read that Birchell has injured his leg and will mis 4-6 weeks of pre-season and NAB cup
Fasolo in the defenders?
So i currently have JPK as my M3.
Last few days been tossing up switching to selwood/fyfe/sloane.
Thoughts??
All top shelf premo's, go with your gut.
Bill,
God – Dependlebury – JPK … what could possibly go wrong??? I'll be splitting the $50K with you my friend!
JPK is a keeper, pick set forget! Having said that I have both him and Fyfe, as the general says go with your gut!

Hi Lee,
Best of luck with SuperCoach this year. I'm not one for telling people 'pick this' and 'don't pick that', but please bear in mind;
Waters is injured indefinitely
Whitecross is borderline on being selected – be prepared to move somewhere else on him before Round 1 if not selected, wait & watch
Hodge should be a defender – better to get a midfielder rookie than a defender rookie
Laverde and McKenzie; watch for Round 1 selections but consider moving into forward and defender lines respectively if need be
Jacobs has been on light training for a while – may not amount to anything but please consider
Martin is being cottonballed as well – again might not amount to anything but please consider
Mitch Clark … refer Jacobs and Martin
While swing-sets are great, it's unusual that they'll be needed in the opening rounds. Look for opportunities to bring in DPPs down the track however.
G'day community just asking for some thoughts on my team. Thought I would go with a reasonably strong middle to try get some points on the board early

Hey guys, would love to ask a live question to the podcast but can't find the option anymore? Was wondering the following;
Higgo, about your comments on Dane Swan in the "Great Debate" you talk up the selection then question him being a top 8 midfielder. At his price in the midfield he would surely be a great selection as a top 16 midfielder. But he is a forward dpp, so surely he only needs to be a top 10 forward to still be a great pick from the start of the year? By a fit Dane Swan standard, this must be a lock for sure? Would love to hear your arguments against taking him? We could realistically look at an average of 105 – 115 over the year from him, with a small chance to average as low as 100 and as high as 120, probably better price for kg/ppg than any other forward option this year?
Paul Chapman last year (after positional changes) was the 10th best forward with an average of 96.
hahah the hell got me cracking, yes wayno!
