Full Squad on field. Ohhh Yeahhh!

A full squad is not good – no opportunity for the Capt / VC loophole.
I have a Lloyd and Thurlow as non-playing, but they are both on Friday night so there is not an opportunity for the loophole.

LAST roll of the dice ! And any advice will be welcomed.

Finished 3rd in both leagues. 3 trades left and $142K in bank.

    TEAM
Malceski, McVeigh, Bartel, B Smith, Burgoyne, Mitchell – non playing bench
Kennedy, Libba, Beams, Sloane, Cotchin, Pendelbury, Stevie J, Greenwood -non playing bench
Natanui, Sakndilands – non playing bench
Harvey, Dangerfield, Parker, Martin, Franklin, McGovern – bench B Johnson and non player

    Can do a couple things
Upgrade greenwood or Johnson to selwood or rockliff – 1 trade used
That means have to carry McGovern for season as no cash to upgrade later, but still 2 trades left for injuries.

    OR

Trade greenwood and McGovern, swing Mitchell into mids and get K Simpson in defence and McGlynn in forwards.
That leaves 1 trade left but 6 swans in team. They have good finals run, could that work ?

    OR

Sit tight and see if I win this week.

Let me know what you guys think !

    Tony

I have 3 trades left and $70k in bank. This week I trade ceglar to king making 300k, than dunstan to fyfe losing 280k. Leaving me with 90k.
Don't trade for next two weeks.
Than in the grand final trade Dale Thomas hopefully about 380k to Matthew Boyd hopefully about 460k.
    Thoughts on this approach?

I wasn't worried about it Derek but since you brought it up, I thought I should check. Before Hannebury was injured in round 13, Parker averaged 98.6. Round 14 on he's averaging 120, so yes I think you're right Parkers output may well drop back to around 100.

Community, I'm in a pickle. Trying to decide what to do, I have changed my mind about 3000 times.
I have 4 trades, $51,800 in the bank.
D: McVeigh, Bartel, Swallow, Burgoyne, Enright, S.Mitchell (Litherland, K.Tippett)
M: Pendles, Fyfe, Liba, Cotchin, Murphy, Beams, Selwood, Barlow (Shenton, Acres)
    R: Sandi, Lobbe (Lobb, Thurlow)
F: Danger, Parker, Martin, Zorko, Franklin, Pavich (Ambrose, Lennon)

    I was initially thinking Pav/Shenton to McGlynn/Crisp.
But Swallow is concerning me. I guess I'm either looking at fixing up the FWDs or DEFs. If Swallow wasn't such a hack I'd look to change Enright/Lither to someone next week. Pav is about to take a massive drop in price but he is listed to play. I could potentially hold him for the rest of the season?

    • 08/08/2014 at 11:20
      Permalink

If Swallow's a late out, look at Simpson maybe. He'll do what he likes against Gold Coast.
If he plays then you can still do the Pav/Shenton/Mouse/Crisp deals as they all play later.

Yes good point. I will hold until I know more. Late outs are the killer as I learned last week.

Hi all, first full year in supercoach, finished 4th, would like some advice re: potential trades for finals, will obviously have to move on Gunston

D – Mcveigh, Swallow, Hanley, H.Shaw, B.Smith, Suckling (Mcstay, Fuller)
M – Selwood, Beams, Kennedy, Priddis, Mcrae, Libba, Savage, Treloar (Langdon, Acres)
    R – Sandi, Mummy
F – Danger, LeCras, Motlop, S.Martin, Gunston, Harvey (Kersten, Rohan)

6 trades left, $509,000 in the kitty, any advice would be appreciated, who best for Gunston? Do I need to bring in a premium in the mids?
    Cheers.
    Matt

You are in an enviable position there Matt with a double chance, lots of trades plus money to boot!
I would personally get Buddy or Parker for Gunston as Swans playing great and have a good run home. McGlynn another Swan forward a lot of people talking up and a bit cheaper than the other two as well. Parker is most expensive but still will only cost you about $100K to go from Gunston to Parker so you will have plenty of cash left.
And yes with that many trades I would get another Premo midfielder, ie Fyfe/Rocky/JPK/ Pendles (altho last 2 down on form a bit lately). You should be able to get who you want, you might not even have to trade anyone who is currently on the field in the mids, could trade Langdon instead (would lose DPP though) and then loophole Treloar/McCrae using Acres as emergency loophole

Cheers Julz, thanks for advice. Bought in McGlynn as guy Im playing had Parker/Franklin, good result. Next week Ill bring in Fyfe or Rockliff depending on the other guys side.

I'm with Julz and would trade Gunston for the Swan forward you like best out of McGlynn, Buddy and Parker.

I'd also keep an eye out for any late withdrawals news for Swallow and if he plays then would upgrade Savage to an elite mid….Rocky, Pendles, Teen Wolf etc.

    Greetings Supercoach Community

Feeling the pressure of finals. Finished 7th (sudden death) with 5 trades left but bugger all cash. Have Lloyd on my field and Ambrose and Honeychurch on the bench. Also have McIntosh with no coverage on the bench which really hurt me last week and L Taylor as coverage in the midfield.

Need some advice/assistance from the community out there. Should I:

    1) Trade out Ambrose to Broomhead (Coll) or another cheap fwd – only danger is I need someone on the field and he could be the sub and it could be too late if he is as the Pies are in the last game of the round.
    2) Trade Currie (NM) to Ben Brown (NM) or Cam Wood and use him for back up to cover McIntosh.
    3) Option 1 (first part) and then McIntosh to Sandilands.
    4) Taylor to Crisp (Bris) but lose the DP status that Taylor offers and maybe trade Taylor next week if I am still alive and kicking.

Any other ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Good luck to all this weekend

Got the double chance in all my cash leagues but looking draw going to be much easier to making the GF if I win this week and stay away from the danger team on other half of draw. For that reason considering using my last 2 trades in the following manner.

    option 1
    Swallow to K Simpson
    Dunstan to Ward

    or Option 2

    Swallow to Malceski
    Dunstan to Libba.

    Thoughts would be appreciated.

      Option 2.

Malceski is a 100-120 lock every week, whereas Simpson has been a bit up and down.

    • 09/08/2014 at 13:07

Tricky one Jeff as Buddy could definitely go large in the last month and be a major difference maker in key SC finals between the Buddy haves and have nots.

But I'd probably go McGlynn purely on Buddy's knee worry. You'd hate Buddy to get rested in the SC GF just because his knee is a little tender if the Swans have already secured a top 2 spot heading into round 23 so he gets a rest.

McGlynn is also in career best form averaging 111 over the past month racking up heaps of midfield ball.

I have $453k to spend on a defender. Who would most go for out of Burgoyne, Birchall and Jaensch?

Or is the left field one outside of them I could go for?

    • 09/08/2014 at 11:17
      Permalink

If you're going to be looking at the run home for teams, then Jaensch would be your pick due to Adelaide's easy run home. Hawthorn play Freo @ PS, then Geelong and Collingwood at the MCG. All hard games

      I would go on priotirty
      1. Jaensch
      2. Birchall
      3. Burgoyne

      • 09/08/2014 at 13:16

wait till teams are named as It would not surprise me if either Burger or Birch are given a rest today.

    • 09/08/2014 at 13:21
      Permalink

Agree with Mozz that the Crows draw makes Jaensch a lot more attractive and he's tonned up 3 times over the past month so appears to have regained some of that early season form.

Burgoyne and Birchall do seem to score better when Mitchell is back in the side so are worthy considerations too.

In 1 league if I keep captain as Pendles (same as opponent) I should win as long as griffin and Jacobs score 130 together.
In the other league I'm 100 pts down and thinking of taking selwoods score in the hope rockliff (my opponents captain) fails to perform.
Other option is to leave it on Pendles and hope he goes massive so I can win both leagues.

Bloody hell I forgot that C. Cameron was named this week so that means can't bench S. Martin either. Thinking of sacrificing Zorko, don't know if I trust him to top 115.

Take the 115 unless you need an upset to win this week. Points in the bank.

Thanks yeah I'm feeling pretty comfortable about taking down #1 in the league as long as Jaensch, Zorko, Dahlhaus, and Minson don't score 84 more than Miles, Gray, Hanley, and Naitanui.

Martin provides more consistent scoring. Zorko can go large. I'd go Martin.

I am leading towards playing Zorko as Martin will be up against Zorko.

Yep, Rory bloody Sloane alright – will be knocked out thanks to him! Need to sweat on Pendles getting less than 96, otherwise I'm out for the year. He's already on 98 so sayonara!

Based on Pre-scaled scores I have lost to Addicts Anonymous by 1 point 2503 – 2502. Hopefully the scaling goes in my favour!

EDIT: Scaling went in my favour and I won 2532 – 2512.

EDIT #2: The scores were updated again and I lost 2512 – 2510.

Yeah you were pretty darn unlucky with Shannon Burn there. At quarter time it looked like he was in for a blinder but then the Pies locked down on him.

What was the story behind Hanley as Captain? Were you creating a POD captain in a another one of your leagues perhaps?

At least you get another crack with the double chance. Thankfully I made 5/5 prelims so get the week off other than ranking concerns of course.

Yer in another league my opponent had Hanley as C and we only had common players left and I was winning by 10 points so I decided to stick the C on him to win! Congrats though, I thought that I was going to win all day but thanks to Hurn and a bad captain choice you scraped ahead of me.

2436 for me. Not great but good enough to knock out the 5th side in my elimination final and to win against 4th in my other league.

Being tagged out of it was bad enough although that was probably to be expected.

But it appears he again has put himself at peril of missing footy with more silly business. May one day cost the Cats a final if he keeps that sort of stuff up. Scotty needs to tell him to pull his head in.

2495 and bundled out of public league by 34 points.
Not concerned as always was going for best outright.
Back in top 5,000 now so will keep pushing as high as I can.
In the lap of the gods though as zero trades left!
Best result from here would be around top 3,000 which would be a PB for me.
