Supercoach 2014

This is quick. But it is brutal in its deliverance of condensed wisdom.

Round 19 has kicked off and as this is published Freo and Carlton are half way though having a nice old crack at each other.

Hope your weekend of fantasy footy has started more promisingly than old Jock’s – I’ve made a bit of a selection howler as you will hear. I might have Alzheimer’s disease, but at least I don’t have Alzheimer’s disease.

I love you all.

Wes · 31/07/2014 at 22:13

3/4 time and Barlow looking good for a big haul… He has my VC

Agree Jock, looking forward to a full week. Last couple weeks took forever.
Good luck my community friends!!

    Derek · 31/07/2014 at 22:59

I really needed to win my league game this week.

VC on Fyfe plus Sandi………… And Pav!!!

      GarglesnarfFC · 01/08/2014 at 06:55

Same on all 3 for me. At least Fyfes 171 makes up for some of Pav's 9.

@TG_Footy_Tragic · 31/07/2014 at 23:09

Poor Bastard Jock…

I think that's every Supercoach Coaches WORST nightmare!

    Donavan · 01/08/2014 at 01:15

Feel for you Jock, putting the community before yourself as always.

    Your a legend.

    Garglesnarf FC · 01/08/2014 at 08:35

Sorry for your suffering Jock. It hurts us all.

Hazey · 31/07/2014 at 23:18

Fyfe with 171….do we take it? :-/

Pav…what have you done mate, headbutting elbows for fun?!?!

    GarglesnarfFC · 01/08/2014 at 06:54

What do you mean "Do we take it?"!

Of course we bloody do! And a big hi5 all round while we do it! #loopholedeployed

Almost makes up for Pav getting 9.

    wes · 01/08/2014 at 07:34

    Hi Hazey

out of interest's sake only, who are you thinking of using instead?

    Itchy Nuts Pieman · 01/08/2014 at 08:16

Hazey you take 171 even if Abblett’s playing the sandringham under 12’s

    Sarah · 01/08/2014 at 11:18

Are you kidding?!! I'd already deployed the loop-hole when he hit 120 early in the last quarter, and then spent the rest of the last quarter with a massive grin on my face!!!

Gilly · 01/08/2014 at 07:53

Didn't have the vc on Fyfe …..doh. But dodged a bullet by trading Pav out 1/2 hour before start of the game. Swings and roundabouts!

    Itchy Nuts Pieman · 01/08/2014 at 08:14

You’ve dodged a bullet there Gilly! Think I’m done with key position forwards till do me part from supercoach

      Gilly · 01/08/2014 at 09:44

Spot on Pieman, Pav was just too good value when I picked him up but me thinks it should be a box that you have to tick when you log in to Supercoach for a new season. I will not pick a key position forward ( till they become super cheap and I can’t help myself)

      jockreynolds · 01/08/2014 at 14:46

Same here Pie/ Stick the fork in the big bastards

    Derek · 01/08/2014 at 08:54

I posted my team here during the week and told to trade Pav out to Parker or Gray! Did I do it?

      Sarah · 01/08/2014 at 11:19

      I hope you did!!

Mangrove Jack · 01/08/2014 at 08:42

3 played for 408 points. Have VC on Fyfe and C on Pendles. so Pendles to Bench emergency and ShadyAcres into the guts, and very happy to take Fyfe's 171

Supertroopers · 01/08/2014 at 09:19

Who sits on the bench in my fwd line out of danger, dalhaus, d martin, franklin, gunston, s martin or r gray? I’m thinking dalhaus…

    Garglesnarf FC · 01/08/2014 at 09:32

Thats a very nice problem to have. Do you a loophole player on the bench?

      Supertroopers · 01/08/2014 at 10:57

A very good problem to have but tough decisions to be made. Most play on Sunday and my emergency loophole plays on say night so it’s not quite going to work out
Do hawthorn put more work into dalhaus than collingwood do to gray?!

    MightyDonsFC · 01/08/2014 at 16:53

Gunston or Dahlhaus, flip a coin

julz · 01/08/2014 at 10:14

Sorry to hear of your error Jock, but you know who to blame. Ross Bloody Lyon, just when you thought you escaped his curse by having coverage for Sandiballs last week, he still gets you this week! if Lyin' Lyon hadn't rested Sandi last week there would've been no need for you to put him on the bench at all and everything would've been tickety-boo.
Oh and the bloody stupid split round would not have helped your cause and then a Thursday night game to boot, I nearly forgot to fix my team too!
I have suffered the Ross curse too by having a donut last week due to Sandi and Ben Brown late withdrawal, also did not buy Fyfe when cheap as chips as didn't trust Ross, see even when he's not resting players the thought that he might still stuffs you in the end!!
Chin up mate 🙂

    jockreynolds · 01/08/2014 at 14:44

Thank you julz for giving me the 'out' ..would love to give Ross the Boss another barrage, but the only fool I have to blame is myself for this one mate. Still learnin after 37 years. Thanks very much for your sentiments!

Badoomp · 01/08/2014 at 11:03

Is this the lekdog, big ben, pieman show is it?? Every podcast i click onto got to listen to these clowns every week?? They sucking you off or something jock? Give someone else a go ay instead of the same muppets everyweek!!

    Gold Rush · 01/08/2014 at 11:09

Got an address that I can send a box of tissues to? Dry your eyes and get on with it.

    @TG_Footy_Tragic · 01/08/2014 at 12:31

Have you thought that maybe Lekdog, Big Ben and Pieman are the only guys offering decent advice?
I noticed a few new guys call in also…
These Community podcasts are majestic. You need to lighten up Badoomp.

    Unsavoury comments. Not needed.

    Love ya work community.

    jockreynolds · 01/08/2014 at 14:41

Gday there Badoop, got every call sent in into the podcast this week old son, send one in yourself and you're more than likely gonna get a gig. No suckings off etc goin on.. maybe the odd wristy… but certainly no suckin off

      Badoop · 01/08/2014 at 22:57

No worries Jock I was actually offering to get on my knees; no need to put me on the podcast but I'd love ya to give a spank for being naughty in your forum you big gorgeous bear you.

Who’s badoop, I do agree with you though you classy animal!

    Itchy Nuts Pieman · 01/08/2014 at 17:44

Badoomp. The JR community has helped no end with my SC improvement. I like to give back where I can. I think you will find Lekdog & Big Ben would be feeling the same way. If you have a problem with our advice dont listen to it. If I were a dog & you were a flower I'd lift up my leg & give you a shower.

      badoomp · 01/08/2014 at 22:32

Shouldn’t you save that for your bogan beast of a missus? Heard her call through and she sounds like she could chew through glass! No wonder you spend so much time on sc

Saw you mum the other day. I reckon she’s a top bloke. Who else could produce a complete flog like you. Back to gutter you knob

julz · 01/08/2014 at 13:22

Ok guys still struggling with the 'Who to Replace Hibberd With' decision. I could get Mitchell which is playing percentage as most other teams in my league will probably do this. This also leaves me with $50K and with only 2 trades left this could come in useful if god forbid more injuries/late withdrawals strike.
However looked at Mitchell's draw in SC finals, Melb the first week but then Freo, Cats and Collingwood, has me a bit worried.
Brodie Smith from Adelaide however as a ripper draw but would only leave me with about $3K which is not ideal or is money just pointless this time of year, with 2 trades left would be only sideways ones now to cover anyone out.

    Liam · 01/08/2014 at 14:01

hey Julz, ive also got this conundrum. also thinking smith but then no money to use elsewhere and need to fix up a midfield issue. need to do some calculations before i make my trades but thinking smith with good run home. good luck

      MarcusJ · 01/08/2014 at 15:23

Ive sideways him to S Fisher from the saints. two games and two tons. owned by 0.5% of teams.

      gotta roll that dice

Gra · 01/08/2014 at 13:35

Ambrose, Kersten or Impey as F6?

    BCHawks · 01/08/2014 at 13:38

      Gra · 01/08/2014 at 14:36

    jockreynolds · 01/08/2014 at 14:43

    Yep Id go ambrose

      Gra · 01/08/2014 at 16:55

      thx Jock

Liam · 01/08/2014 at 14:24

jock, just heard the podcast. so much thanks to you and all the guys that make it possible to hear the podcasts. so sorry to hear your hurt re big sandiballs. whats worse, he puts out a nice score and any points wood scores should be negated with that bloody last minute game losing kick (yep i'm a hurting carlton supporter). good luck with the rest of the round Jock, Liam

    jockreynolds · 01/08/2014 at 14:43

No worries at all Liam! Must admit its been difficult to deal with the Sandiballs affair – but I live to fight another day 😉 Have improved to a bi hourly anxiety attack now.. on the mend

MarcusJ · 01/08/2014 at 15:25

fyfes 171 has the arousal curve off that charts with the vc on him

that and big sandiballs makes 479 from two players.

all down hill from here hahaha

Garglesnarf FC · 01/08/2014 at 15:58

Seedsman out of Pies side due to injuring himself at training. Langdon to be named as his replacement.

Might help those with Langdon on the bench, or planning on loopholing him.

Mozz · 01/08/2014 at 15:59

need to make a decision before the game tonight, it's going to define my finals!!

One player in the top 8 in my league has Smith, no one has fisher, so who will have the higher scoring output in the final 5 weeks?

Thanks for your help community 🙂

    BCHawks · 01/08/2014 at 16:39

I would go Smith. He has proven himself this year a great scorer and a POD and whilst Fisher has had a good 2 weeks his history shows that it is very unlikely that he will keep up these high scores.

    MightyDonsFC · 01/08/2014 at 16:55

    Smith definitely

      Mozz · 01/08/2014 at 17:06

i'm just a bit worried in having too many Crows in my team, just if they have an off game coming up
Already have Sloane, Danger & Jacobs. Is having 4 crows too many?

        jack power · 01/08/2014 at 17:20

        Not with those players

    Itchy Nuts Pieman · 01/08/2014 at 17:47

Struggling with the same decision Mozz. Leaning towards Smith. But only just

      Mozz · 01/08/2014 at 18:14

and have you gone with Smith?

        Itchy Nuts Pieman · 01/08/2014 at 21:38

        Locked & loaded Mozz

          RooBoy · 01/08/2014 at 23:15

Just out of interest Itchy do you already have Simpson?
I'm tossing up between the 2.

          Itchy Nuts Pieman · 02/08/2014 at 06:36

          Don’t have Simpson

    Glorin · 01/08/2014 at 19:02

    I was pondering same conundrum.
Wanted to go Fisher, but my balls aren't big enough.
Head said smith, but I listened to my wallet.
    Brought in Birchall.
I need to do one more upgrade that will be done next week and that extra 60k will make a difference there.

    WombatsFC · 01/08/2014 at 23:59

Kev · 01/08/2014 at 16:16

Harvey or Gray final upgrade in the fwd line

    Mozz · 01/08/2014 at 16:20

Matt · 01/08/2014 at 16:43

Have 270k in the bank and 5 trades left what is the best option?
Bring in Goldstein for Cox
Bring in Ryder for Cox
Bring in Ryder for Cox and McVeigh for Suckling
Bring in Naitanui for Cox and Kennedy for Thomas

    BCHawks · 01/08/2014 at 16:50

I'd go for either C or D probably D as Thomas has missed a lot of games this year and with Cox out Naitanui will do the majority of the ruck work with some help for Lycett which means he should score well.

      Mozz · 01/08/2014 at 16:52

      definitely D

      Matt · 01/08/2014 at 16:56

Didn't think Thomas missed any games this year.

        BCHawks · 01/08/2014 at 19:07

Sorry thought you meant Matt Thomas.

    MightyDonsFC · 01/08/2014 at 16:56

Ryder and McVeigh, not being bias I swear

      Matt · 01/08/2014 at 18:55

Thanks i think I'll have to agree as Daisy has already played

corza4 · 01/08/2014 at 17:25

who do I get for Hibberd, Malceski or Hanley

    Jack · 01/08/2014 at 17:54

Malceski for consistency, Hanley for huge scores

    Itchy Nuts Pieman · 01/08/2014 at 18:25

Hanley. Awesome form. I’ve had them both all year. Safe picks but Hanley can score massive

Jack · 01/08/2014 at 17:54

Danger or JPK for vc?

    Itchy Nuts Pieman · 01/08/2014 at 18:25

    Danger for mine

RooBoy · 01/08/2014 at 18:18

Hi Community,
K Simpson or B Smith as F6?
Then relegating Jaensch or Burgoyne to the bench with loophole possibilities.

    RooBoy · 01/08/2014 at 18:19

    sorry D6

Trav · 01/08/2014 at 18:29

Hi All.
Need a bit of advice. If you could give a reply that'd be great.

Who would you tip to score more this week…

A) Dean Towers (SYD) (… Towers is not starting sub)
B) Sam Lloyd (RIC)

    BCHawks · 01/08/2014 at 19:08

I'd go Sam Lloyd as Richmond are playing GWS so the ball is likely to be in the forward line a fair bit.

      Trav · 02/08/2014 at 09:23

Cheers for the reply BCHawks. Stuck Towers on the pine, happy enough with chances of Lloyd outscoring Towers 47. Good luck for the weekend mate!

Derek · 01/08/2014 at 19:50

First PAV, now Buddy.

    Itchy Nuts Pieman · 02/08/2014 at 06:53

Think the SC gods are telling us something about key position forwards

      derek · 02/08/2014 at 12:44

i traded Buddy out and brought Parker in. Have to win this week and couldn't afford to sit Buddy on the bench (especially after PAV's effort).

      Happy with Parker

Jack · 01/08/2014 at 23:38

Any rookie downgrade options?

    WombatsFC · 01/08/2014 at 23:58

Probably not not if you need them to play for 4 weeks straight. These are playing this week and below 200k
    Def: L.Thompson, T.Golds,
    Mid: A.Woodward, J.Crisp,S.Blease(fwd/mid),
    Ruck: C.Wood
    FWD:H.Louis, M. Honeychurch (mid/fwd)

BCHawks · 02/08/2014 at 07:14

who to bench to get Parker's loophole score Roughie, S.Martin, Zorko, D.Martin, Danger or Gray. I could also do Sloane or Libba in my mids.

    Itchy Nuts Pieman · 02/08/2014 at 07:42

Roughie BC most inconsistent of the lot

      BCHawks · 02/08/2014 at 07:47

Yer that is who I am leaning to it is just that Roughie could go big down in Tassie against the Dogs.

        Itchy Nuts Pieman · 02/08/2014 at 07:57

If the weather here is anything to go by put him on the pine

The Mullet · 02/08/2014 at 09:47

Roughie. I've had him all year. Apart from a couple of really good scores he has been disappointing. BUT, I'd wait to make sure Danger starts for the crows first. Its very unlikely, but after the knock to his knee last week I'd like to be certain he isn't a late out.

julz · 02/08/2014 at 13:00

well looking like I’m gonna get smashed in every league thanks to me stupidely not having Fyfe and everyone else deploying the vc loophole on him. Not to mention a donut thanks to Bloody Buddy and a crap vc score from JPK.
In desperation I’m going with Waynos drunk ramblings and his hoping his time machine didn’t go to the wrong universe, captain Paddy come on down!!

big aggots · 02/08/2014 at 13:34

What's going on with champion data's love affair with ruckmen? Pyke 130 odd and not named in the best, Ryder so-so and 117. They believe Pyke had more impact on the game than anyone? Parker included? Time to address a few things for 2015 boys, starting with rucks.

Donavan · 02/08/2014 at 13:53

Need to decide on a potential trade or two. Going for league wins in the finals.

Team is as follows-
DEF – Swallow, McVeigh, Malceski, Hanley, Enright, Schoenmakers (Firrito/Tippett)
MID – Pendlebury, Priddis, Beams, Bartel, Cotchin, Johnson, Goddard, Miles (Shenton/Acres)
RUCK – Naitanui, Sandilands (Lycett/Lobb)
FWD – Dangerfield, Gray, D.Martin, Zorko, Dahlhaus, Roughead (Franklin/S.Lloyd)

4 trades remaining, and $20,500 in the bank

Considering the following-
1. Firrito to Birchall (leaves 3 trades, no cash) – but think Birchall will assume his normal role
2. Shenton to Honeychurch (to make cash & keep swing) & Firrito to best Def under $550k) leaves 2 trades
3. Shenton to Honeychurch, swing Bartel to Def, and trade Firrito to the best Mid under $550k – leaves 2 trades

Appreciate thoughts community. Also suggestion of players to acquire.

Thanks in advance.

David · 02/08/2014 at 15:34

I know the diff in SC and DT scoring but gee i wonder wtf is up with SC this year concerning rucks

20 mins into the 3rd N.Naitanui DT 58 SC 94 ??? Wtf

Mr DJ · 02/08/2014 at 16:18

Out: suckling

In: Hanley / Mitchell / Fisher

And why please

    dean billman · 03/08/2014 at 04:46

    Hanley, biggest ceiling.

David · 02/08/2014 at 16:24

Fisher no why: not a proven 90+ scorer this season, yes 2 good scores of late but the could hurt during finals. A 80 to 85 at best.
Mitchell yes why: is a proven premium, dual position and will be 95+ for rest of season
Hanley yes why: best defender going around in last 3 rounds but keep in mind he has performed well above his avg in last 3. Though should still avg 88 to 93 for rest of season with maybe another huge score still to come.

Tman · 02/08/2014 at 22:42

Rubbish saturday courtesy of swallow, del santo, johnson, martin and danger. And yes franklin is on the field. Luckily the governor scored ok.

    Itchy Nuts Pieman · 03/08/2014 at 08:28

That was a handy back up Tman. Plenty had no cover for Buddy. Well played

Dean · 02/08/2014 at 23:34

I have a question and need a answer FAST.
I have used C Cameron as my emergency in defense however he did not play. Now because Selwood is my VC and score 148 I want to make him captain by using the loophole.

My query is can I swap Georgiou in my defense to Hanley and put the Captain on Georgiou while making Hanley my second emergency in defense?
Will this work or do I end up not getting Hanleys score as the emergency because I had C Cameron as emergency in defense even though he didn't play?

Your answer will be greatly appreciated.

    RooBoy · 02/08/2014 at 23:57

    Hi Dean,
That won't work as you will pick up the lowest emergency score of he 2 which is a zero from C Cameron.

    Gold Rush · 03/08/2014 at 05:56

Did a similar thing last week – works fine as long as the 'zero' is not playing.

Mr DJ · 03/08/2014 at 02:25

Where there are 2 emergencies are selected in one position and only one of these is required, the lowest scoring emergency will be used.

Emergencies scoring 0 will not be considered the 'lowest-scoring' and will not be used.

players who are actually named and in the starting 22 for any match AND score a 0 for any reason, will NOT be replaced by an emergency. Their 0 score will also have an effect on their value, being recorded as having played a game.

if not named and not play than not counted… hanley as E will work

Itchy Nuts Pieman · 03/08/2014 at 07:54

Think Miles was tagging Ward yesterday. That’s a worry going into finals. Do we ditch him or keep the faith

michael · 03/08/2014 at 08:47

Can anyone back up the late out of Sam Mitchell? Need to know before Lions game so I can swap Honeychurch from mid to fwd with Zorko, Zorko will then be E for Mitchell and I already have Ambrose as E in fwd line to cover HChurch.

    WombatsFC · 03/08/2014 at 12:22

    Don't need to this week.

    GarglesnarfFC · 03/08/2014 at 13:48

    Confirmed, OUT

    Derek · 03/08/2014 at 14:55

    Come on!!!
Can’t move my forward cover to mid. Need win. Do I trade? First Pav then buddy now Sammy!!!

      Derek · 03/08/2014 at 18:05

Look like getting home, thanks to Gray having a shocker ( so far)

michael · 03/08/2014 at 14:36

That is bloody annoying – why can’t all teams be confirmed at the start of the day ffs? No backup for Mitch as I couldn’t risk moving Zorko to my mids bench in case Mitch was named. Also, on AFL team site they’ve listed Mitch as omitted but says no late changes? What do they consider as a late change? Mind you Zorko’s sitting on about 15pts at h/time…

    Itchy Nuts Pieman · 03/08/2014 at 18:03

Agreed. The Vampire called no Mitchell on the plane. That was yesterday. Leaving him as a late out is BS. The Vamps mail has been spot on this weekend. He’s better than the media

michael · 03/08/2014 at 14:37

Was looking at 2500+ but now will be lucky to hit 2300!!

Itchy Nuts Pieman · 03/08/2014 at 18:05

Keep up the painful work Vampire. Best to hear it from you first. The mailman of pain

Wattsieesq · 03/08/2014 at 19:27

Looking to hit 2500 this round. Thanks to Fyfe, Barlow, Parker, Nic Nat, Jellwood, Beams and Sandi. I my even have knocked off the top side in one of my head to heads.

2370, Wayno… You let me down!!! Only if I had Fyfe as my captain, I would have made the finals in one of my leagues, but just because you said to put the C on Dangerfield, I missed out by 0.24%.

2300 for me with a Doughnut from Mitchell and some terrible scores. Had Caddy and Roughie on bench and was unable to use their scores! Oh well the win put me 4th in my main league.

Shockers from Zorko, Boomer, Swallow and had Sammy Mitchell a late out. Average games from Dusty, Dalsanto, Danger. Can’t complain with great scores from Fyfe, Beams, Sandilands, Ward, Parker, Selwood, Stef and ok output from Malceski, Mcveigh, Pendles, Rocky, Sloane, Bartel, Birchall and Lobbe.

Should jump a bit from 323 this week.
