Supercoach 2014 The last round before Supercoach finals is nigh!

Sit back and listen away as we discuss the weekend of fantasy footy. It’s the start of a big week for the community with the donors podcast set to released Tuesday as well.

How is your mob travelling?

  1. Big Ben says:

In like Flynn! Huge week jock, can't wait to listen!

  2. Ronny says:

Not high scoring for everyone Jock :'(

  3. Matt says:

    Hibberd >> Sammy Mitchell & Wingard >> Montagna… thoughts?

Leaves me with 4 trades left.

  4. Fabian says:

Can't wait to give it a listen on the way to work tomorrow fellas.

Had a woeful week. Eagles lost/Dropped to 9th in the Donor's League/Dropped out of the top 1000/ had 9 players score less than 83 in a full premo team/ botched the VC and C and had a sandy donut ( 2 trades left, was thinking about trading Currie to Wood , but thought wood would score 50-60, and that I could make those points up when i use that last trade)

    Positives tho, Hanley =]

    Ah well,
Next round can't come soon enough.

AND A donor's podcast on Tuesday. Can't wait!

  5. David says:

This is my 3rd season and I have nervier put up a 2500+ score but every year at this tim of the year i seem to avg around 2350 from round 13-14 and onward.

  6. David says:

That laugh Higgo is priceless " hoh hoh hoh hoh hoh"

  7. Vic City says:

Finished with my highest score ever of 2,693! Took me too long to start kicking off this season but have been flying the past bunch of weeks.

  8. Community;

Win or die in two leagues, plus I'm the underdog in the top of the table clash in my main league. 4 trades left and $191'000 in the war chest.

Will Langford is on the bench in my backline, and Lynden Dunn is on the field. Do I pull the trigger on Lanford, switch Dunn to a loophole and bring in Malcheski? Do I swing Mitchell back and place Gray in the midfield? Do I get rid of Dunn and pull in Rockliff? Do I go for cheaper options and try to keep some of my war chest? Or do I hold?

My team as it stands (pre-trades)

    D. McVeigh, Bartel, Simpson, Burgoyne, Dunn, Enright (Langford, Georgiou)
    M. Pendles, JPK, Fyfe, Selwood, Beams, Cotchin, Goddard, S. Mitchell (Honeychurch, Acres)
    R. Jacobs, S. Martin (Currie, Brown)
    F. Harvey, Parker, Martin, Zorko, Dahlhaus, Pavlich (Wingard, C. Cameron)

Big decision this week for me, and not one I make lightly. Any help would be greatly appreciated, community.

    • Garglesnarf FC says:

As a fellow Pav owner, I feel that he might be your weakest link. I wouldn’t mid seeing him go and possibly swing Smartin fwd, and bring in Sandi after his month off.

      Thats my 5c anyway.

    • Kev says:

Before you pull the trigger mate have a look at your opponents. In a win or die situation you want a player that they don't have already

      • Or, equally, I might not want a player they don't have – Pav for example could be a liability, as could Dunn. But point taken, Kev, thanks mate

    • Derek says:

if was my team I would trade Dunn for Rocky any day of the week, not sure if you have the cash though to do as a straight trade, Rocky pretty expensive now.

    • Or possibly, move pav on, swing martin fwd and bring in Goldy.

Goldstein is in Supreme form of late.
      last 7: 6 100+ scores (lowest of 95)
      of those 100+ scores, 4 120+ , 2 160+
      averaging 126 in his last 7 games…

      • Got rid of Sandi last week (controversially) as he was rested. I can't see him and Zac Clarke forming a profitable duo from a Supercoach perspective (although I think Freo are better utilising the two of them) but I like the sound of Goldmember. Every man and his dog seems to have two of Jacobs, Sandi and S. Martin, so the Goldmember could bring it home for me.

Brilliant suggestion Footy Tragic. Thanks mate!

  9. Garglesnarf FC says:

Given that Dangerfield is having knee scans this week, I find Wayno’s Time Travel exploits very interesting. As a Danger owner I hope he is spot on and the man pumps out a lazy 150 this week.

I had 16 players crack the ton this week and 6 of those went over 150! Only Pav and McGovern under 50. Broke my personal SC record by over 400pts with a lazy little 2845. The poor bastard who coaches Toads Toads with 2599 must have wondered what hit him!

This not trading for a few weeks is great fun!

    • Kev says:

Bloody good effort Gargle! Conversely I had McVeigh, Malceski, Bartel, Hibbo, SmItch, Sloane, Cotchin, Parker, and Dusty score 80 or less. Chuck in the Sandi donut and the emergency loophole fiasco where I thought Sam Lloyd would top Wingard's 65 (he scored 13!) and it wasn't a great round for me….

    • WombatsFC says:

      Well done snarf!

      • Itchy Nuts Pieman says:

Wombats you bugger youve just passed me in the donors (Maltiebets). Your coming home with a wet sail!

    • Itchy Nuts Pieman says:

Huge Snarf. Scoring 2600 & getting spanked would be painful.

    • wes says:

      well done Gargles!
I limped over my PB by about 40 pts… I've left my run too late with too many cows on my bench and not enough freed up cash to spend.
So I am stuck doing traditional Starter/bencher out type upgrades.
I will still make finals in my leagues, but I still have suckling, sam Lloyd and lewis taylor in my group.
Now I have gone for this rd, because I have to lose these guys asap, Longer and Taylor out, Nroo and Goodes in…. simply out of some hope that Nroo continues some form with some easier games coming up, and Goodes will keep up his reasonable efforts.
but as I said, I still have to upgrade Suckling at least… and no cash left outside the cows…

  10. Wheels says:

cheers for the mention in the Podcast.. Harry TAYLOR has been a stain in my pants all season but with a starting price of 500 k i kept him to save the trades.
Now last month he go BANG BANG and get me in on podcast #welcome
    Keep up the good work.

    • Itchy Nuts Pieman says:

Maybe you should give a shout out to BT. The slur has spurred him on no end!

      • jack power says:

Bout time BT had a holiday isn't it .. the last 3 weeks he's had Petrie dead from a choke hold??? labelled HT a 70's foot rest and on the weekend said some bloke had a broken arm from an errant kicking in danger action only to see the player back on the ground completely uninjured a couple minutes later ..

        • Peter says:

BT is a dud. His position in the AFL has gone to his head. He makes far too many errors and maybe he has become complacent because me thinks he does not do his homework. There are many better callers/comperesout there in AFL land.

  11. Itchy Nuts Pieman says:

Charlie Dixon with an 11. Clearly death has gotten the better of him.

  12. Peter says:

I need to complete my forward line and team with either D. Martin or R. Gray. I suppose either one would do but Richmond has the easier draw. Little cash but plenty of trades for restings and the inevitable injuries.
Your opinion with reasons would be appreciated.

    • Gab says:

i would easily choose gray over dusty. Dusty had 26 touches on the weekend at 37%!!
I know it was wet but i dont think he uses the pill as well as gray and in the end that equals supercoach points !!

      • Peter says:

No Jack. Not my only options but my preferences. I am trading out Mcgovern who incidently will do better this week on a drier ground. Have Danger and Parker as my swings with Shenton on fwd bench. Also have Buddy, S. Martin and Roughy. I don't want Harvey – that is just me!!.

        • Peter says:

Forgot. Also have Zorko with Parker in my midfield.

          • jack power says:

Both are very similar players with Gray potentially capable of taking more contested marks and laying more tackles. Martin has scored a tad more consistently with the weekend score of 70-odd ending a run of 9 tons in a row .. and he had a 95 prior to that run starting. Could've easily scored higher on the weekend had his DE been higher. Who are you looking to off-load?

    • jack power says:

Are they your only 2 options and do you have a mid swing available?

    • Krazee-Eyez Killaz says:

I'd go with Gray. Port will be more desperate to play well, and Richmond have the mighty Swans in the SC GF

      • Peter says:

Thanks for that Killaz. Was leaning towards Martin but now you and Gab think Gray. Martin will want to continue his fine season to win Richmond's B&F?

    • Peter says:

Yes Jack. Mitchell still not 100% and that showed out with his kicking as there were few long kicks. Mind you he is generally a magnificent kick with either foot.

  13. Krazee-Eyez Killaz says:

Ranked 49th for the round with 2779. highest score to date. was expecting/hoping for 2800+, but oh well. Ranked 3730 overall, but surging late!

1 trade left with only $24,500 left. Considering biting the bullet and turning Jaensch or Enright (both with decent scores this round, I know) into maybe Sammy Mitchell (surely he'll turn it on soon?)

Also in a position in all leagues where I can just save the trade and see how I go. Am confident on finishing top 4 in all 5 of my leagues. Leaning towards saving the trade.

DEF: Swallow, McVeigh, Bartel, Hanley, Jaensch, Enright (Cutler and Battersby)
MID: Pendles, JPK, Selwood, Sloane, Beams, Fyfe, Rocky, Stevie J (O'Brien and Acres)
RUCK: Lobbe, Martin (Thurlow and Nankervis)
FWD: Harvey, Dangerfield, Gray, Parker, Buddy, Zorko (Ambrose, Cameron)

Would be interested in knowing peoples thoughts. Cheers

    • Great team, although, I just notice the non-existent cover with the lack of trades.
      Also no swing sets…
Late out/restings in the coming weeks will kill your team

      • Krazee-Eyez Killaz says:

no swing sets is also a concern. I'm basically playing a full side of midfielders, but the swing set option just didn't eventuate throughout the season. to get it now would mean dropping one of my mids, which i don't want to do.

fully aware I have no cover, but am taking a punt. haven't had to field a donut so far, and with the finals race being pretty tight, can't really see many of the guys from the top sides being rested.

    • jack power says:

Maybe Kane Simpson for Jaensch rather than Sam Mitchellson but holding that 1 trade might be your best option. I'm in the same boat trade-wise with a 500 point gap (from predictions) on this week's opponent so looking to hold as well. Noticed Mitchellson used the left for a set shot on goal on the weekend so maybe the right leg is still a bit suss from those calf n hammy injuries.

      • Krazee-Eyez Killaz says:

I think I'll hold. if i get caught out with somebody being rested in the finals, then i'll just have to use the last trade then to cover. confident of at least getting to the prelim in most leagues, so hopefully i still have the trade up my sleeve when i get there

      • Peter says:

Yes Jack. Mitchell still not 100% and that showed out with his kicking as there were few long kicks. Mind you he is generally a magnificent kick with either foot.
        Mitchell is a must have.

    • jockreynolds says:

Corker of a score Krazee. With no bench backup on an y lines – I'd suggest your best plan from here on in is to keep that trade in the back pocket to cover the donuts that will come
      Edit Delete

      • Krazee-Eyez Killaz says:

thanks jock. I'm thinking the same thing. have taken a punt and left myself with no cover, and to date it's paid off. will just cross my fingers and hope for the best! not going for overall placings.. just league wins

    • WombatsFC says:

Great score Krazee but a sore Danger this week might undo it all rankings wise.
Have you considered trading Charlie Cameron for Cam Wood to open up a fwd/ruck swing-loophole. It'll adequately cover any fwd ruck issues for the rest of the year.

      • Krazee-Eyez Killaz says:

from what I've been reading, he'll play. i do have ambrose to cover if worse comes to worse in the forward line.
with only 1 trade left I'd be taking a punt on the cameron to wood trade. would be a decent idea though. have just left myself with so little to trade with that I'm a bit cautious about pulling the trigger with this last one I have

  14. john s says:

excellent point about Sammy using the left foot however he scored 100ish dreamteam but that only converted into the70 sc points so the points are still potentially there,

    • jack power says:

yes john, he's a solid scorer most weeks. He's come out today and said he doesn't want to risk a re-ping of the right hammy by kicking .. this would be a worry if you are using your last trade to bring him in.

    • big aggots says:

Followed that game on Superfooty fieldview and on one occasion Mitchell got a clearance under pressure and kicked it to a 50-50 contest inside 50. It was graded as a clanger and -2. If it was Pendlebury it would be inside 50, clearance, hard ball get, long kick, score assist etc etc + 20. They score Mitchell harshly at champion data. Stick with him though.

      • Peter says:

Yes. Very harsh for Mitchell Supercoachers.
Do smothers and running bounces earn points. If not they should be. Say, a point every bounce and 3 points (at least) a smother.

  15. TOM says:

Hi community. Great week for myself with 2451 with 2 donuts. I have 2 trades left with $123,000 left.

backs: Swallow, Bartel, Hanley, Hurn, Burgoyne, McVeigh (Cutler, Georgio)
mids: Rockliff, Pendles, JPK, Ward, Selwood, Beams, Libba, K.Mitchell (Hartung, Acres)
    rucks: Sandi, Mummy (Brown, Thurlow)
fwds: Danger, D.Martin, Parker, Zorko, Gray, Wingard (Cameron, Honeychurch)

I'm versing 3rd bottom this week and I'm sitting 5th on the ladder. Not sure wether to hold trades or to trade.

    • Jimbo says:

      Kane Mitchell to Montagna?

    • Pat says:

who was your second donut tom?
      Sandi and?

    • jack power says:

I doubt Kane Mitchell will break back into the Port team again this season, his "poor, poor, poor" disposal has seen to that. Maybe sack Mitchellson, swing one of your defenders to the mid and bring in Kade Simpsonson. Will leave you a full backline and full mid premos and 1 trade for emergency

      • Stee says:

No way, 5th on the ladder and against 3rd last, hold your trades until you need them, you will easy , trades are golden at this point in the season.

    • WombatsFC says:

      K.Mitch to Caddy.

  16. ollie says:

155k and 4 trades thinking R Murphy and Rioli out for gray and griffen, thoughts?

    • BCHawks says:

Hey Ollie I would Go Murphy to Mitchell instead of Griffen has he has the tendency to be a late out or miss games due to injury but Rioli to Gray is a great trade not sure why you didn't do it earlier.

      • ollie says:

Hey I already have Mitchell, would have traded out Rioli earlier but had a few other injuries and an easy run of games tbe last few weeks and had cover up forward so Rioli stayed on the pine.

  17. Mitch says:

Looking for a bit of help this week on who to bring in

    My team is currently

Bartel, mcveigh, Simpson, swallow, jaensch, birchall

Pendles, selwood, fyfe, Murphy, Goddard, beams, Mitchell, libba

    Sandi Goldstein

Gray, Parker, d.martin, s.martin, zorko, dangerfield

And Rohan my only current playing sub

I have 5 trades left and 347k in the chest to spend

Looking to finalize my team by this week or next for finals

Will have to keep a trade or 2 up my sleeve incase rossy Lyon rests sandi/fyfe.

    • TOM says:

Mitch your team is looking great! You may want to keep some of the money in the warchest. Maybe you could work on getting a couple of bench players or even upgrading a birchell or jaensch to McVeigh or Malceski

      • Mitch says:

Already have mcveigh but Malceski did come into mind for a birchall or jaensch

    • I would think Birchall would be the only player to be omitted from that squad.

You could either jump to Malcheski or swing Mitchell back and pick up Rockliff or Ward. But beyond that, I'd save the trades for bench cover and for the inevitable arrival of General Soreness and his conscription of our premium players.

    • Derek says:

Jaensch or Birchell for Rocky (swing Mitchell to DEF)

      S Martin to Buddy.

      • Mitch says:

S.martin not a keeper? Proving a consistent scorer since coming in

      • Peter says:

        S. Martin going as well if not better than Buddy. Waste of a trade. Keep 3-4 trades up your sleeve although with the split round there may not be as many 'rests', but unfortunately there will be injuries.

  18. Tommykwr says:

    G'day community
Stuck on what to do this week
Will make finals in four of my leagues
1 trade and $38,300 in the bank
Def: Bartel, swallow, Mcveigh, malceski, Murphy, mackie (jones, clurey)
Mid: beams, libba, sidebottom, Sloane, Cotchin, ward, dal santo, selwood (Obrien, acres)
    rucks: sandilands, Mumford (thurlow, king)
For: Harvey, danger, Parker, d Martin, roughy, s Martin (Kennedy, Cameron)
Thoughts on whether it's worth keeping sandilands

  19. MightyDonsFC says:

Hey guys, I was wondering what you thought of going from Mackie>Smith. Sick of Mackies poor scores and Adelaide have a good run home, it will leave me with 2 trades left.

    • David says:

Smith has been outstanding this year wish i grabbed him instead of Jeansch when smith was cheaper then him earlier this season. With 2 trades left after the trade your thinking about sounds good to me 🙂

  20. BCHawks says:

Need some help guys with my trades I have got 2 trades left and 69,500 in the bank
    A) Don't trade
    B) Trade Mundy for Stevie J or JPK
    C) Trade out Sandi and swing S.Martin to my r2 and then swing Caddy to my forward bench and pick up Stevie J or JPK and bench Mundy.

The rest of my team is fine. Thanks in advance. My team name is Wild hawks

  21. Matt says:

Sam Mitchell or Brodie Smith to replace Suckers in defence?. I have Swallow, McVeigh, K Simpson, Burgoyne and Hanley in the remaining D positions.

    • Sarah says:

Brodie Smith. I don't have 100% faith in Mitchell's hamstrings… especially if he's taking set shots on the left.

      • WombatsFC says:

Hi Sarah, Smitch is a natural Left Footer he was converted to his right foot by a daft Junior coach and is genuinely ambidextrous I think he gets more distance from his left but better dart passes from the right.

But that's all irrelevant his hammy is too tight for him to go 100+ 2-weeks in a row.

  22. David says:

Michael Johnson or smith for mine

Johnson 2 games back from injury and think he will be ready to go 90-100 for rest of the rounds

  23. BEN BRETEL says:

hey must win match for me this week who do u think will win these are the unique players from both team i am number 2 honest opinion plz
    1. N. Malceski 2. M. McVeigh
    M. Johnson L. Hodge
    K. Simpson P. Hanley
    J. Harbrow M. Jeansh
    T. Rockcliff S. Pendulbury
    S. Johnson N. Fyfe
    S. Mitchell M.Murphy
    W. Minson N.Naitanui
    A. Sandilands S.Martin
    M.Pavlich L. Dauhaus
    Z. Merret C. Wingard

    • Krazee-Eyez Killaz says:

seems close. depends on who each of you chuck the captain on as well. in my opinion there's just no clear winner there. chuck the VC on fyfe and see how you go

  24. Peter says:

No 2, but not having Rocky is a worry.
