PODCAST: Line by line review
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
We pick every line apart with a fine tooth brush this week.
We go through each line and look at who would make up the All Australian Supercoach team of the season so far. These blokes have earnt their stripes so far.. but the question for all of us is.. who will perform best for the rest of the season?
Join Peter “Higgo” Higginbotham, The Crouching One and I as we plot a course for fantasy footy dominance for the rest of this season.
Let’s all come home with a dripping wet sail community
Malceski or Simpson?
Malceski's looking pretty good atm mate.
Both superb options. Kade will leak more cash so worth waiting a week or two there if you can to pick him up as cheap as possible.
Will be selecting Mal myself. Had an insane past 9 games for a defender and the Swans are flying with a bunch of spud opponents coming up and a friendly SC finals draw to boot.
Malceski
Like everyone else Malceski. Playing a key role in a winning team, as opposed to a key role in a team that is a little Jeckyll and Hyde.
Plus the Blues run home is as bad as Freo is good, so I think the Blues share of points will be smaller than it has been.
Fellas no trades this week…not worth it mid season wasting your trades on mid pricers
Yep the lack of trades are beginning to really bite but will be hard for many coaches to pass up on the value of bringing in Stef Martin as discussed by the Inner Sanctum tonight.
best midfielder to bring in? It is someone like Kennedy or Liber? Or pick up someone like Fyfe and save some cash?
If you don't have Rocky then if you wait a few weeks he could be sub $550K with a monster BE of 201!
JPK and Libba are awesome too but you will be paying top dollar there for the foreseeable future.
It's an interesting one Scano, this year we have a plethora of midfielders averaging over 110, so as long as you pick one of them then you can't go wrong. However, for absolute best at given price I would have to say Fyfe, but he WILL get rested, other options leave Rory Sloane who is a fantastic pick, Stevie J is probably the biggest bargin, and Nick Dal Santo has come down nicely in price and we need no reminder of how good his finals run are. Although, would I be right in saying that you are looking for your final mid upgrade? If so, then I truly believe JPK is your man, and SCaddict's suggestion of Rockliff is superb. Because of that, then I believe pick one of these two players as they will, in my opinion, provide you with the best output out of all of your options.
All comes down to how many other spots you need to fill. Fyfe is at a good price, But if you dont need to fill any other spots there are numerous good players to grab JPK would be my number 1 pick but there all that good its hard to pick one or two specific players.
Don't get sucked into Miles and Martin community… bringing them in will mean you most likely have to keep them unless lots of trades
got Martin in last week and am now going to have him as my fwd/ruck cover with B.Brown the swing man.
Reckon Stef Martin could be the most traded in player this week. But yes he may not be a keeper so would keep a spare trade up your sleeve if you are bringing him in, maybe for a sideways to Dixon at some point.
Martin has at least another 5 good rounds ahead of him to make a bit of cash. And should still play out the rest of the season even with looey playing like west did.(as long as his hammys hold up)
I know im looking at using Martin as my last spot in the fwd line (use as cover for sandi if needed) until later in the season when im ready to upgrade fully. Better than playing Ambrose/Shenton
Hey community is it worth side trading Adcock? 50k in the bank doesn't allow me to get much so Mackie would be best option. Worth it?
Mackie is only at a lowish price due to his sub-affected 50odd, worth the trade in my opinion.
I'd do it
thoughts on trades this week?
brought martin in last week and have thurlow on bench so:
derickx to ceglar (hoping hell gets games sometime)
higgins to mid via gray swing.
who to get? can get anyone under 660k.
mid as it stands: ablett, pendles, libba, selwood, sloane, beams and kane mitchell.
Howdy John
If ceglar gets game time, not a bad trade, derickx will slow down or get dropped when pike comes back.
Kennedy for me, consistently high scorer, not in a huge percentage of teams so another tick.
this is to generate cash because i have mcevoy sitting on the bench ready to come and play for the hawks.
Herald sun made me poo my pants that Selwood was out so had to trade in Mcgovern to get Taylor as cover. That worked out pretty well with 146 and 101 from rookies!!!!!!!!!
Love the podcast fellas. I am incredibly happy with my team averaging 2454 since the byes.
Hey community, hope you all had a successful supercoach round, have a bit of a conundrum. Have Ambrose and Cameron as bench cover in the forward line, I'm happy with that. However I have Fasolo as my F6, want to upgrade him before his price plummets. Therefore trading him will give me 411k to bring in a player for any line, apart from the rucks. Did a bit of research and came up with Wingard.
Seems a fairly obvious trade however, I've traded my ass off all season, the above trade will leave me with just 3 trades 🙁 is the above trade worth doing, or as was the case this round, should I hold my trades and rely on Ambrose getting a respectable score? Cheers community
Hold Trades. Cop Fasolo's losses as he does have a decent ceiling as a F6 and three trades for another 10? rds is asking for trouble
Cheers mate
Big hint for you in Higgos section I reckon.
Fasolo has had a screw removed from his right navicular repair and could miss 3-4 weeks.
Wingard or Rioli?
Wingard I reckon Cuz – Rioli just not reliable enough
Cheers Jock!
Second that
Wingard, i have rioli and he is just too inconsistent for my liking
Think we'd all like to have Cyril in our sides…if it were not for those lacky bands he calls hamstrings!
He's burnt untold numbers of coaches season after season as we've heard those all too familiar "twangs". Has only played 20 games once in his career so nuff said.
So do yourself a favour and don't become another statistic.:)
Just the one trade for me this round
K.Mitchell>L.Montagna
Dalhaus or zorko?
Zorko mate
Dahlhaus
Actually might take stephen martin, to free up cash, and wait on who looks good a bit later on
Between the two, Zorko seems to be picking up steam. Don't know if Daulhaus will be putting out 120+ again. Can see Zorko doing it again.
Have both but have been more impressed with Zorko's play of late. If you have cash, get Parker. Will Hanno out, he should get more mid time (=bigger scores)
Got rid of langford and brought in brodie smith.
picking up swanny hasn'y really been that grade of a trade but gonna have to stick it out with him
glad i picked up goddard a few weeks ago.
I've had Swanny most of the season. He has been a bit dissapointing so far, but I'm confident he will pick up as we get closer to finals. He is a bit like Steve Johnson. Its a roller coaster ride. Just hang tight.
Hurn or Brodie smith?? Leaning towards hurn hopefully not the burnman
Hopefully he won't be the burnman, but the mighty Hurnman!
was thinking of bringing hurn in myself, i think he'll average 90-95 rest of the season
Hah. Yeah hopefully he will come home strong!
Really tight with trades atm! Too late to bring in McLovin (for Shenton)?
Yeah you really need to get these guys when they are on the bubble or it's wiser to just move on especially with the amount of trades most of us have left.
I would probably hang on to Shenton as bench cover for the rest of the season anyway as decent playing rookies are few and far between now.
As the guys said in the poddie Honeychurch may be just around the corner. I have my fingers crossed at least. He would actually make a sweet swing set with Shenton as Higgo mentioned.
Thanks SCaddict, already have swing set with Taylor which helped this week – I had O'Brien on field and just happened to hear he was sub about 2mins before the match, so swung Taylor into mids & put him on field, Shenton on fwd bench with Ambrose on field. Got me an extra 70 odd points!
probably hold, though i do think he will play out the rest of the season. Doubt he will keep producing these kind of scores
Thanks again for a great podcast fellas. Congratulations Crouching One on your brilliant results. I'm so so tempted to get Stefan Martin this week but I have decided to pass on him and hibernate my team for the next 3 weeks come what may. I am ranked 1072..I am doing well in all 5 leagues, in the top 8 in all of them and top 4 in 3 of them. My team is just short of premium, plenty of trades up my sleeve, so time to put the feet up and let my opponents burn trades trying to catch me. Anyone else contemplating a "trading hiatus"?
I am not trading this week. I'll let my rooks fatten and bring in Steven Johnson in a couple of weeks. Gray a week or so after him and I'll be done.
Hiatus I take.
Ambrose, Shenton and Langdon still doing the business.
Hi jock and community
Im in a bit of a situation im looking at my forwards and looking at bringing in either Gray or Harvey
The cons im thinking about each is gray having freo at the time of our grand final could be a bad thing when i need him most
And if boomer will keep up this form all year
If people could let me know what they think and opinions would be great 🙂 thanks and good luck
146K and 9 trades left, should i hold my trades for this week or trade out Jaensch. Was planning on trading down Derickx at some point and then upgrading Langdon to Ablett but wasn't sure when would be the best time to do this, but with 3 easy matches coming up in my league i might just hold tight.
Hold Jaensch for now.
I feel you can hold Jaensch for longer than you think, remember his 38 drops out this week and so his breakeven will plummet. Also, there is no reason to suggest he can't average those numbers again like he was the start of the season, yes the opposition has found him out but should come back strong. Remember, only 3 games ago he scored 128 and people were bringing him in, so give him another chance I reckon.
Yeah if I can hold Cotch for the past 13 rounds ((and goodness knows why I have!) then you can save a trade and hold Jaensch at least whilst you have this easy run.
He's a better player than he's been showing lately and worth another few weeks I'd say. if you can get through those 3 weeks with no significant injuries then maybe you can look at doing something, assuming you still want to get rid of him at that point.
But he may surprise you with one or two decent scores before then.
Also looking to grab Ablett is a great idea. The best time to do it was way back preseason
11 trades. $9k bank.
Tempted to go Shenton and MaCrae to Fyfe and Martin. Because Martin on the bubble and doesnt look outve his depth against good rucks AND Fyfe is most likely at his cheapest he'll be at. Then next week or the following grab Steve Johnson by painting the fence. and then not trade to fill my final fwd spot until Leuenberger returns
Leaving me with:
Mid: Ablett, Pendles, Libba, Goddard, Beams, Polec, Jelwood, Fyfe (Crouch Taylor)
Fwd: Danger, Dustin, Zorko, Dahlhaus, LeCras, StefanMartin (Ambrose, Lloyd)
Alternative I'm thinking is to trade Crouch to Martin and use Martin as my F6 and ruck cover if needed. And hold my trades till another premo drops in value
One other thought is Polec and Crouch to Fyfe and morabitio or Honeychurch. Then next week MaCrae straight swap for Johnson
Heyyy communtiy,
Only trade I'm looking at for the moment is to get rid of Shaun Higgins. He's served me very well and I have no regrets keeping him this long. My only problem is that I've got just 9k in the bank, so to get a decent FWD upgrade I'd have to downgrade someone like Litherland, Lewis Taylor, Shenton, Acres, Ambrose or LLoyd, who all have room to grow.
What are everyone's thoughts? Should I wait a week or two until Taylor/Shenton/Ambrose peak in price, or prioritise upgrading Higgins as soon as possible?
Cheers
Mate I reckon Higgins to Wingard might be your best option!!!!
You could also look at going from Higgins down to Stef Martin which would make you a fair chunk of change for upgrades elsewhere and potentially grant you ruck cover if you can create a swing set.
Anyway that's what I did last week and feeling pretty good about the move right now.
Would hang on to as many of those rookies as you can until solid downgrade options present. I realise that is not always achievable in order to realise full premium status but you really want to avoid giving up too much decent bench cover where possible.
Hi Matt
I have regrets keeping him this long 🙂
I trade him out for martin too… just as scaddict said below. then again he would be feeling good about it this week.
for me though, bit of extra cash in the bank, plus his extra points scoring ability this week makes him a reasonable option. Higgins just not scoring as he was and is costing us $$ and therefore options.
I've had Malceski from the start (fortunately). Wanted a Mr consistent and thought Enright was a bit long in the tooth.
Hi Community, another edition of TOTW. Some interesting new entries this week – McLovin in particular, who would've picked that? – along with Ebert, Harwood & Motlop.
DEF: Hurn, Bartel, Dunn, Hanley, Smith, Mackie (Harwood, Heater)
MID: Floggard, Zaharakis, Ebert, Stokes, Prestia, Libba, Pendles, Duncan (Shiel, Gibbs)
RUC: Lobbe, NicNat (Sauce, Mummy)
FWD: Buddy, McLovin, Boomer, Tomahawk, JJK, Motlop (Schulz, Cloke)
Dunn is the one to watch here, 3 weeks running in the TOTW now, he's on fire! GAJ a notable omission, although I expect him back in next week.
Also some changes in the TOTY from last week, out goes Beams, Jobe & Cox as they didn't play as well as Hibberd for a dud round. In comes the aforementioned Dunn, as well as Prestia, Nicky Dal & Goldy in the rucks. Again, these are the guys that are putting up the most recent higher scores in comparison to the players around them in the rankings, so a good guide as to who to jump on right now!
TOTY R13
DEF: Bartel, McVeigh, Simpson, Swallow, Malceski, Smith (Dunn, Burgoyne)
MID: GAJ, Pendles, JPK, Libba, Jelwood, Ward, Sloane, Prestia (Murph, Nicky Dal)
RUC: Sandy, Sauce (Minson, Goldy)
FWD: Boomer, Gray, Danger, Dusty, Parker, Zorko (Pav, Breust)
Always interested in your thoughts community!
fifa style mate i like it.
My thoughts are you have way too much time on your hands!
Community, On S Martin I'd check on Brown, if he retires (and he should after getting KOed again) then Martin may well go forward and split ruck time with Smith. While this could affect scoring it would prob see him stay in team when Leuwenwhatever comes back.
Now if all that happens will that put me off? Prob not, but if you are thinking of him as r2 then it might make you pause.
Martin should be pretty safe to play out the season if his hammys hold up. West was sharing the ruck load with looey so martin should have the same opportunity. But just dont expect Martin to score well like he has upon looeys return
Hi Jock,
I’m not normally a big commenter on the site, but I’ve been a big fan of this site for almost 2 years now and im just so amazed at how much the site has grown in community members but also how the site has grown in quality! The podcasts are what I look forward to each week, they aren’t just full of great information but the top class comedy you guys have would be enough to keep me listening. In my opinion this was your best podcast yet and it’s awesome to see that it keeps getting better! Thanks for adding to my supercoach wisdom each week, I’m now ranked in the top 4000 which is my best ranking yet and it’s all thanks to you guys. I’ll definitely be signing up for the new podcast to keep the site going. Thanks for everything Jock, Crouching, Higgo and everyone else on the site!
Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much Matt for your kind comment mate. Absolutely rapt to hear that you're enjoying the community, the podcasts and also pumped that you're rising in the rankings.
Jock
Hi community, sorry for being behind the times but what is happening with Fasolo?
Is he injured or out of favour/form?
Just omitted Steve
Should Never have been dropped!!!!!!!
Anyone interested in Steven Motlop at 346K as a possible F6?
Finding some fitness and form after 5 games back. Had 112 on Sunday and stormed home last year averaging 108 in last 8 games including 117 in 2nd semi, 98 in prelim. I'm looking at maybe Shenton to him.
Could be a better option than the crap Reiwoldt is dishing up week after week at a slightly higher price
I am dumping Reiwoldt asap, maybe for Mopper!!!!!!
Jock, Crouching, Higgo,Wayno, Mad Mick, Barron Von Crow, and Crimmo you guys are unbelievable at what you do. Seriously, the amount of dedication and hard work is second to none and this is truly the best community on any site on the web, let alone Supercoach. Thanks isn't a strong enough word.
On to supercoach. What are your guys opinions on Chad Wingard? He's is undoubtedly a freak but due to the lack of midfield time I feel as though he has to do a lot in the forward line to score a 90+ score. I remember games of which he kicked 5 but couldn't even crack the ton and so it worries me a little if he doesn't have such an influential game he may only score a 70 or low 80, even though his efforts and impact may try to suggest a bigger number. However, it is undeniable that he is serious value at 390k but what I'm asking is if he really is a suitable last forward at a time when we want the absolute best (ie Robbie Gray, Parker, Danger, Boomer etc), especially for someone who is challenging rank and a Supercoach Grand Final?. Essentially, even at given price, would you pick him over Robbie Grey? seeing as Robbie Grey could very well continue to average 110, with Wingard coming in with a very solid 90-95.
Thanks again fellas 😉
I would pick Gray if you can afford it. He is a machine this year.
if you believe you will be in your league finals, I would now turn attention to players who have an easy run for the finals
Port play Swans in first week of SC finals and Freo in the SC GF.
Would you pick boomer over gray on that thought derek?
Last 4 games GWS Dogs Crows (hobart) and Melbourne
boomer over gray
I've had Wingard all year and don't rate him. Wish I had avoided him in the beginning and surprised that he is getting that much attention. Maybe he's burnt me too many times this year (10 points in 3/4 before being knocked out!) but when I look through the forward options there aren't too many there. Gray for mine, then boomer. Surely the old man can't keep pumping out the scores can he?
Alright, love the discussion fellas. I guess we can conclude that Gray/Boomer is the man you want, with Wingard maybe the man you need if strapped for cash. Will most likely grab Gray, but Chad does still represent some serious value. Cheers guys.
Hey Irish.
If money allows, at this time of year you always go for the top 3 option on a given line whenever possible……we have seen enough form guide to know that they are rolled gold.
You can almost bet that the person you play in the finals will have Robbie Gray and you dont want to be putting up Chad against that. Robbie must have covered Chad 9 out of 10 times this year?
Thanks James, yeah I'm definitely going to grab Gray over Wingard by changing my trading plan a little, so will most likely grab him in 1 or 2 weeks time. Whilst Wingard is definitely as very suitable F6, trading in Gray can mean that he becomes your F1-F3, and is almost like adding another midfielder to your line up. And who doesn't love that Midfield output 😉
Great podcast as usual boys. I only have 10 trades left (8 after this week), but will be only 1 premium away from being full premo and am ranked 483.
Looking for a cheap POD for my M8 this week, and am thinking of trading Langdon to Andrew Swallow. I also like the Stefan Martin idea of Higgo's so might trade Ambrose to Martin but not sure yet. Also considering Montagna. I've put a line through Griffen, Steven and Johnson.
I will definitely chip in for the special podcast guys. Can't wait!
Thinking going Higgins to S: Martin
and upgrading KK to Premo
OK. Bit of a mess so bare with me community.
Not a lot of trades left yet need to make a move to get in finals contention. Can either strengthen a weak bench or complete my premium midfield.
Weak bench to strong: Hurn/Malceski for Clay Cameron (move Langdon to bench)
or
Complete prem mid: Boomer/Parker for Billings (keep DPP)
Thoughts.
Option 2.
Your wisdom and brevity are appreciated, Gargle!
Sorry Throttle, like my advice last week, I prefer $$$ on the field not on the pine.
Remember it well. And thanks is sincere.
Hey TF. I'm looking to complete my team before getting in bench cover. My bench is shot, but there is no point having 400k on there if other lines are in trouble and not giving you the points you need.
My bench is a disaster (Aylett, georgio, Hartung, Acres, Currie, Archie, JKH, Ambrose). As a result had two donuts this week with Beams & StevieJ late outs. Hope this won't happen again.
Very true, Wattsie. Very true. Thanks, my man.
If i remember correctly your trades have dwindled right down to single digits?
So definitely complete the mid. Theyre the players that can pump huge scores and get the upset wins you need to make finals it sounds like. Bench coverage in a luxury you cant afford atm.
[Assuming your SC team is called "throttlefinger"]
You still have Billings Shenton Langdon on the field among other issues.
So I would avoid any player over 550k and look for value to get the most outve your remaining trades. (like: Both Swallows, Nath Jones, Johnson, Ebert, HEPPELL, Parker, Dahlhaus etc)
Also maybe you should cash in on one of your rucks soon to fill the coffers (sandi BE96, mummy BE91, nicnat [BE25])
Hey Garbo. Yes, that's my (de)delightful team.
Billings needs to go. And I think they popular call is to complete the mids makes the most sense. Shenton and Langdon I can ride a bit longer. Or they may be my Terliches this year.
Really appreciate your and everyone's insights. Is a lesson that I should've bounced more ideas off the community than acted alone. Lots of stupid, rash trades this season.
Thanks again, Garbo. You're the tits!
go for the strength on field matty……I'm sure there will be no unexpected late outs that could derail our plans.
Go Boomer mate.
Definitely leaning Boomer. Even in loss looked stellar. With the Roos easy run and tenuous place in the finals hunt I’ll expect his scores to continue to be 110+.
Thanks Jimbo!
Discomfibulated.. Best
Braught in Parker & Hibberd this week. Both had there worst scores of the season. THE PAIN!
I spent a heap of $$ on Rockliff and made him captain….grrrrr
I feel your pain. I brought in Ward and was going to put the C on him, but went with original plan and put it on Rocky. Fortunately it didn’t cost me any wins.
Wards 122 and McGoverns 146 did make me smile however!
McLovin's 146 Majestic. Wish I'd got on that train. In my main league I got knocked over by 15 points. Opponent traded Watson to Goddard last minute. Shattered. Now 8th in the league & ranked 904. Tough League!
hey community,
I have a bit of a dilemma. I have held off Ablett all season waiting for him to be at his cheapest price and the time to pounce seems to have finally come. however with his tough run home… i am now considering not bringing him in and instead looking to boost my forwards to super premium. I'm running around with reiwoldt and walker on my field atm. Basically my question is, is it ludicrous to not have Gaz in as he is too good not to have? With the money saved on Ablett (i have 280 k in the bank) i could look to upgrade fasolo, reiwoldt, ambrose and cameron.
thanks guys, would love your wisdom.
He's a bit immune to the "tough run home" reasoning, Marcus. He's the best player in the comp/SC for a reason. Come finals time, if your opponent has him cap and you don't have him at all, it could make all the difference
you are never better off without gary
Cant believe you've waited this long to get Gary just to save 20k… You must have a big pair!
Also Gary has had a tough run every game with gold coast since the 2011 season. Yet he still averaged around the 130 mark each season. He is THE best supercoach player in the comp. Silly not to have him.
Another way to look at it is, any player you upgrade to gaz (bar pendles or jpk) you will essentially gain a minimum of 20pts on your avg whilst giving you a perma cpt. And chances are you wont trading a rockliff type player for him. So im guessing you will gain more along the lines of +40 pts on your avg
thanks lads, needed someone to tell me i was crazy. would have upgraded mitchell to a JPK but ill stick with the plan to go with gary.
My question would be who are you trading out for Ablett? As said above it could be a player averaging 40odd points less a match, however if you don't bring Ablett in and focus on upgrading the forward line, and you upgrade fasolo(who isn't even playing) to a gray or Harvey, you're essentially making a larger points gain, than upgrading to Ablett. Call me crazy but I would look to upgrade forward line first, with Charlie Cameron not playing and Ambrose scoring 4 points in the entire second half shows how dangerous it could be leaving your forward line as is. Bring in a Harvey or gray gives a possible 70-80 point round gain if Fasolo is out and Ambrose plays poorly.
wisdom…..next year make sure you start with Gary……and probably pendles while you are at it. clearly the best two supercoach players going around.
Dear Jock, Higgo and Crouching
Your beautiful insight into the Supercoach world has guided me from 45,000th last season to 7440th so far this season as I continue my rise into the top 5000.
Thanks for the help
Great work Big Ben. The boy's have taken me from a spud to top 1000. Good luk in your rise to Glory!
Good work you little legend, stick together and the community will drag us over the line
I bloody love the pieman inspiration, many a time I have heeded your advice mate. I bloody love ya
Cheers Big Ben, Love this community. So many great minds!
who should I trade for Martin, Derrickx or Shenton? Leaning towards Shenton, but he still has some money to make. Thoughts?
In a word – Shenton
In more than 1 word… People will comment about Derickx job security. So perhaps that is an issue. til that is confirmed, I'd prefer Shenton out of my team to Derickx
Fitzy I have a similar issue. Like Wes I reckon Shenton is the better trade out option, although in my case Ambrose might be even better.
Thanks guys
i'd still be careful bringing shenton in now. i reckon his JS could be just about shot with gwilt coming through the magoos on the weekend and picking up 22 touches and featuring amongst the best. shenton plays an identical role to gwilt.
if you've already got him, could be time to cull the cow!
I think everyone is talking about whether to trade Shenton out. It's certainly too late to bring him in now.
Love your podcast boys. Due to the modern age of smart phones etc am finding the podcast MOST enjoyable when sitting on the throne!!!! Am i alone here guys or is it a trend to lengthen your time on the thunderbox to coincide with the podcast timing? lol
As long as your not rubbing one out that's prefectly accepable.
Hey community, absolute ripper of a head to head match this week. Thought I'd get home easily against 12th on the ladder (I'm =1 on %) but some average returns from Jaensch, KK, Hibbo, Rocky (C), Cotch, Breust, and LeCras kept it close right till the end. Won by 50 points. Thank you Libba!
This week I'm trading Derickx, who has just about peaked in price IMO, down to a cheapy (maybe Lobb or Archie) and then trading KK, who has a huge b.e this week, up to McVeigh
Yeh I'm thinking Derrickx to Archie Smith. If Martin goes down he would be next in line I'm thinking.
Are there any other bargain basement rucks that could potentially get game time. Lowden maybe but he would need Hale and Mcevoy to be out.
I still need to upgrade my Defence, have 13 trades left but only $24k left in bank.
Bartel, Birchell, Suckling, Lumumba, Hanley, Enright (Aylett & Bews)
I will get McVeigh in this week (not sure who should go first).
I'm not going to get either Swallow of Simpson in. They both have reached their peak and are overpriced.
Who should make way for McVeigh?
I would like to get Sam Mitchell, but would have to wait another 4 weeks for him to play and see his price drop.
Who is the other Must have in defence?
I am thinking Hodge, Hurn or Shaw. But are they much better than who I have?
Swallow is under 500k and will take another price drop and 8 tons is hard to ignore.
And bar McV the other three your looking at arent really too much better then what you have to justify a trade
Malceski and Mcveigh
Morabito or Honeychurch? Whose likely to play soon and get more games
Check our crystal ball shall we….?wtf
Your guess is as good as any…. no one knows
Think both likely to play soon but my guess would be honeychurch will have better job security
I think morabito will come in when players are being rested and he will be the back up but it really depends where they land on the lader come our finals time if they really will rest players.
This is just my opinion, he might come in this week and play all season but I have and i think alot of others have been waiting for honeychurch all season he produced the goods this week in the 2s and i think he will come in and fit in very nicely
Good luck with whichever way you go
cheers mathew
If Morobito comes in he has massive vest risk attached to his name. Same could be said for Honeychurch. Although Gia takes it most weeks. I'd say wait & see with both. Wouldn't bring them in yet unless it's a non playing player strategy.
Cheers! Was just searching around for extra cash to grab a Fyfe type player. And only real player on the bubble is Miles – But a bit to pricey for my liking.
So am tempted to take a punt on honey or morabito
Honeychurch mate, can't trust morobitos injuries
Honeychurch for his swing option?
Honeychurchs debut could be delayed with him heading to the tribunal for a front on bump in the vfl after he had a nice 5 goal haul
Hi community
I really need to start working on my forward line
Dangerfield, Parker, Zorko, Breust, Taylor, McGovern, Ambrose, Lloyd
All my rookies are still making cash though
This week im looking at moving breust on. He has been leaving big stains in my supercoach pants for the last few weeks and he just doesnt look like getting near the ball. His projected to go down another 23k this week alone
Im looking at bringing in the best of the best so who do people think that would be?
Im looking at gray and boomer
Gray will have freo grand final of our SC which could be a downside and boomers run home is amazing, playing GWS Dogs Crows (in tassie) and Melbourne to finish. Yet can he keep this amazing form up all year
If people could give me there thoughts even if its another player to look at
Thanks community
Martin is in the best 6 forwards
Thanks derek I have been looking a little at him aswell. Im in a situation where I can choose whoever i want (most people wish for) yet struggling with it lol. Sitting first at the moment so hoping to pick up the best forward i can to lock in
Gday Community Thought i'd share my Team and get some of your Wisdom/Feedback
My Current Team Currently Stands:
Mcveigh, Walker, Hibbard, Suckling, Langdon, Koldasknji ( Bews, Aylett)
Ablett, Kenedy, Pendlebury, Beams, Ffye, Boyd, Selwood, K: Mitchell, ( L.Taylor, Acres)
Gray, Danger, Parker, Roughead, Higgins, Martin ( Shenton, Cameron)
Sandilands Jacobs ( Currie, Thurlow)
Got 10 Trades left, $45,100k left!
Would love to hear your feedback!!
Thumper Kolodjashij is leeking cash. Time to go. Your a bit light for juciy cash cow downgrades. Taylor & Shenton still have money to be made. Your going to have to make a tough call. Personally I'd turn Shenton into Stefan Martin & use your 110K into turning Thumper into best available defender.
INP is on the money here though looks like you already have Stef unless that's Dusty in your lineup there.
KK's time is up as he's leaking cash now and the Suns have a killer draw over the next 3. I'm upgrading him to Malceski this week myself.
He's been a fantastic cash cow but like Higgins his time to face the chopping block has arrived.
Hi there community of legends!!!!
After thoughts please on who has the best run over the next 4-5 rds – i.e. which club.
Freo's seems reasonable. Any other thoughts there?
cheers
There is a bit of action with people trading Stefan Martin into their forward bench to use as a ruck/fwd swing backup. I'm thinking of taking a different tack, and I'm interested to see what others think.
My current rucks are Sandi, Minson (Currie, King). To set up Martin as a swingman I would need to use 2 trades. One to bring in Martin and a second to replace Currie or King with a DPP.
Instead, I'm thinking of trading out Sandi and bringing in Goldstein. I reckon Sandi has pretty much topped out at 578k. Goldy is 500k, has a BE of 30 and is only in about 6% of teams. He doesn't have an easy run in the first SC finals, but has Melbourne in the SC GF. Importantly, his scores are improving. If he gets injured, there is a chance (probably small) the roos might bring in Currie to replace him.
That way I only use one trade and pocket 78k to use elsewhere. But I'm saying goodbye to Sandi. Using two trades to get martin onto a rotating bench position is a pretty expensive insurance policy. Any thoughts?
Stefan Martin has presented us with a nice headache we didn't see coming a few weeks ago. Personally not a fan of Sandi to Goldy. Sideways more than anything. Having said that Sandi will probably get rested, which will mean to avoid a donut you either trade him or a bench player for a R/FWD rookie & sub in Martin. He's too expensive & has too much scoring potential to sit on your ruck bench. So I think (if you can) spending the rookie ruck trade at some point is a good trade. When your running low on bullets you have to make them count!
Agree with the pieman on this one champ
I have the exact same rucks as you, I'm planning on holding sandi until he actually gets rested. If it's before SC finals, I'll cop a donut, if it's during finals, that is when I'll trade him out.
P.s. Going for league wins only.
Thanks for the replies. Both are good food for thought.
Reckon sandi will have a day out against martin on the weekend!
Martin loses a bit of appeal since you dont have thurlow to swing him if needed.
BUT you should only see Martin as cash generation. His good scores will cease in 4-5 weeks once looey returns. But he will keep playing rest of season if hammy holds out. Will share the ruck load with looey
And trading Sandi is a bad move. Hes the number one ruck in my opinion.
heh… heh…
Higgo said Heath Shaw…. 475 gay…
heh… he said gay
hey guys, scored 2250 but had beams and stevie j out which wasnt great, i also had stevie j loopholed!!!!
The team as it stands:
Backs: Bartel, Swallow, Hibberd, Birchall, Hanley, Suckling (Georgiou, J. Tippet)
Midfielder: Gaz, NDS, Murphy, Beams, Selwood, S. Johnson, Goddard, Mcveigh (Lloyd, Hartung)
Ruck: Goldy, Sandi (King, Lobb)
Forward line: Danger, Dusty, Dahlaus, Wingard, Parker, L. Taylor (Lloyd, Ambrose)
Made some shocking trades last week going cotchin > stevie j and he didnt play but was happy with my m. johnson > Hanley trade.
I only have 24k in the bank and 7 trades so need to tread lightly and make the trades i make count !!
Would love any observations please 🙂
Magoos,
With only 7 trades, if I were you I'd hold off any further unless your team has an on-field regular go down with a serious injury, or your team is in a position when you can't get a full complement on the field and aren't likely to in weeks to come due to a combination of injured and otherwise non-selected players.
With that said, if you're struggling at the bottom of your League and may indeed miss the finals, then maybe you can 'roll the dice' and make speculative trades now knowing that you might have little insurance for the rest of the year. Something like Sandilands to Nic Nat will net you $100K for some breathing room if you do need to later upgrade say your prospective F6 when Lewis Taylor / Patrick Ambrose / Sam Lloyd tops off in appreciation.
Best of luck with whatever you choose!
What was going on with Selwood this round? Was he getting tagged or just playing forward?
Think I heard on the radio he was played forward.
Had him in my team and thought he was heading for a big score after 2 goals in first quarter.
Watched the game, he did spend most time up fwd but still kept going in the mids and didn't seem to attack the ball as hard as he normally does. But I believe he was playing sore as there was a lot of talk about him being a late out.
extra attention with Stevie J being out didnt help.
Thoughts on my team?
Brought in JPK in for Shenton
and Malceski in for Langdon
Should I keep these trades or are there better trades to do? Thanks
Bartel, McVeigh, Malceski, MJohnson, Hanley, Walker -EMG- Clay Cameron, Bews
Ablett, Pendlebury, JPK, Selwood, Murphy, Beams, Watson, Goddard -EMG- Bloody Acres and Zachy O'Brien
Sandi, Mumford – Nankervis and king ;/
Danger, Martin, Parker, Zorko, Dahlhaus, Franklin -EMG- Cameron, Ambrose
I know I still have watson but I'm going to hold him for another week
Any suggestions?
Hi sc
Why are you upgrading Shenton first instead of Watson? Shenton is great cover while Watson is deadwood, surely Watto must go first?
Look to trade Johnson and Watson this week. Your cover is lacking and you have at least 4 more rounds without Johnson, more without Jobe. And you should still be able bring in JPK and Malceski if there the players you like. Then you can trade shenton and langdon next week. there BE is 50 and 87. So Shenton should still rise and Langdon may only lose a 5k if he does drop.
Not getting rid of Johnson. Don’t have the trades :/
I like your side mate. Firstly I would definitely stick with getting Malceski in as his break even is around 113 which he is likely to score.
Secondly what ever you do hold of trading Shenton until next week. If you can trade out Shenton for JPK next week, the reason being JPK break even is 151 so he will drop in price and Shenton break even is only 50 so he should go up in price.
Lastly seriously consider allot of thinking about FYFE, I like him but am petrified due to Ross Lions, there is a high likely-hood that he will rest many of his elite players starting this week as they play Brisbane, West Coast, Melbourne, Greater Western Sydney, Saints and Carlton in the next 6 weeks, that's a lotto draw into the finals. Think about Libba, Ward and Rockliff before Fyfe.
Good luck.
or higgins out stefan martin in a smart trade??
martin will be my D6
Hi community, here is my team so far. I have 8 trades left with $34,000 left
backs: swallow, bartel, burboyne, langdon, hurn, hanley (georgio, cutler)
mids: ablett, pendles, beams, selwood, rockliff, kennedy, ward, kane mitchell (hartung, acres)
rucks: sandi, mumford (derickx, thurlow)
fwds: danger, martin, parker, zorko, wingard, shenton ( lloyd, cameron)
Thoughts on who to trade in and out?
Tom,
Personally, with 8 trades left I'd try to hold off further trading unless you can't field a full team or a premium gets a long term injury. The one I'd personally most likely consider if any would be Sam Lloyd to Stefan Martin if Lloyd isn't selected again, but again, I'd hold.
Best of luck with whatever you choose.
Yeah I'm 7th on the ladder and Im versing the guy who is 13th so I was thinking of just saving them. i was wanting to go maybe langdon to maleceski but I can't see where the money will be coming from
Tom,
Langton to Malceski (-$153) can be done with Tom Derickx down to a cheap ruck such as Luke Lowden (+$189) (there are cheaper still) but leaves you most likely without bench coverage if there's a problem with Sandilands or Mumford. I think that this is a workable but quite costly approach in that it'll be just about the last trades that you can make if you're wanting to go into finals with 6 up your sleeve. Your call, but I would just stick with what you've got and reassess regularly.
Again – best of luck.
cheers i think i'll just hold my trades
Heath Shaw or Pearce Hanley?
Hanley
Hanley mate
Best mid under 463k? Just want a 95+ average for the rest of the season. Leaning towards montagna but looking at a couple pods in the form of Mackay, Duncan and Carrazzo
Luke shuey
Had him at the start of the season expecting a breakout year, still recovering from some burns he caused me
Monty is very good value right now and probably the best pick of that lot. Only thing is that he and his Saints are really struggling at the minute so very doubtful indeed he will finish a top 12 mid.
Most coaches are bringing in a Stevie J or Barlow type to complete their midfield but if your means are limited then I guess he could make a respectable M8. A.Swallow is another worth looking at for that sort of money.
Only want to use one trade and want to get mitchell out this week. Joey the front runner but I like a POD whether or not it puts me ahead of the competition no one knows
If you can manage to scrounge an extra 10k you can look at Cotchin/Swan/Swallow.
Under 463 though
Can look at:
Delidio (avg +100 for the past 6 seasons), but down on form atm along with Richmond.
Jackson – bar injury game he avgs 106. Subject to fitness test though
Bit left field But Curnow (avg a ton), was looking really good even though he was tagging. A lot of tackles and still showed he can rack up 20-30disposals (no judd though). Subject to fitness test as well.
And as mentioned already Montag and Shuey would be the other two I would look at.
Montag avg 100. last 4 games hes played gee port coll gcs and played poorly for sc. But seeing a big 144 vs hawks shows he can pump out the numbers even with the team getting smashed and has avgd over 97 since 2007
Don't like how lids crumbles under a tag, afraid of jackson and curnow having to tag the opposition. For me it's between Joey, Duncan, Mackay and Dahlhaus via DPP.
Curnow has been the primary tagger in every game hes played and still 4 outve 5 good SC games.
Jackson from what I've seen seems to have been given more freedom instead of having to play tagger and is benefiting from the drop in form from cotchin and lids.
Outve the 4 your now thinking of. I would go:
1. Montag 2. Dahl 3. Duncan 4. Mackay
Mate, would it be worth holding another week and using another trade next week and getting a better quality mid then……
might be a better long term move especially come finals? (just a thought)
Massive games this week in 4 of my leagues, decided I'll pull the pin if kane mitchell is made sub
is higgins out stefan martin in a smart trade??
martin will need to be my D6 with cover from ambrose. and will set up my ruck/fwd swing with thurlow in ruck
Think it will be a very common trade this week so you will have plenty of company whether it be right or wrong.
I did this trade last week so yes I think it's a good move obviously, though it won't suit everyone.
Not. If on the Martin trade to be honest. Leunhamburger will come back in less than a month boys and you'll have a non playing 300k ruck/fwd on the bench and that is if he doesn't do his hameys in the mean time.
Think that would be a wise trade. And reward you for picking Higgins, whose form is going slightly down.
Martin will be around until round 19-20. And if his form continues, can't see him being dropped, especially on the a developing side like the Lions. Luey will need spells so he may be worth the jump…but less for points and more as a solid cash in for Higgins.
Martin should play all season if his hammys hold up (done his hammy three times since november doesnt inspire confidence though). West was getting games with looey and I dont see that changing especially if Martin keeps up his performance.
BUT once looey is back his scores will take a decent hit. So I would only be getting him knowing he's not going to be a keeper but is there just to make money with good output for the next 4-6 weeks.
But yes Higgins to Martin could be a very good trade if you plan ahead
Hey everyone who is a really cheap backline downgrade rookie option you may play a few games
Help appreciated thanks 🙂
Aylett is on the bubble. Not sure when he will get a game. After last weekend, might see a few changes at Essedon
Not a lot of back line down grades at the moment chief, think carefully if you need to pull the trigger…
Who to cull out of Ambrose, Lewis Taylor or Shenton??
I'd keep them all for the time being
All 3 will get plenty of game time, keep Shenton as he will play a ton and has the fwd swing.
I've got second coming Shenton in my midfield bench and Ambrose on my fwd bench
Big lewy T is also a good option
I jumped on tonight with the same question. Got all three, not sure who will be the first to go. LT was my plan before last week and he bangs out 100. He seems to have ok job security too with dpp. Would like him as bench cover for a few more weeks yet. Shenton and Ambrose have good JS and solid 60-75 points. That being said, Ambrose will go if he can get a few more $ up also because I would like a swing in the mids on the bench. Not sure if that helps because I don't know myself!
If you have too, then Shenton purely because of the BEs.
Shen (50) Ambrose (18) Taylor (15)
Who would you rather? Joey, Duncan (POD), Mackay (POD) or Dahlhaus? Thanks for the suggestions.
Dahlaus mate, but not keen on any of them tbh
In any other year, Montagna.
Dahlhaus if you can live with he inconsistency.
Montag or Dahl
Which Forward should I bring in, I can afford anyone but Gray or Harvey and I already have Danger, Parker, Martin, Wingard and big Tex. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Dahlhaus, Zorko and Mcglynn
Zorko
Zorko, SMartin. McGlynns out of or a few isn't he?
This could be the last week Buddy is sub $500K for a while. Swans have a bunch of spud to semi-spud opponents coming up so the potential for huge scores is definitely there.
Has averaged 113 over the past 4 weeks yet folks are still avoiding him like the plague.
Buddy is back people even if Jock doesn't want to admit it publicly ha ha.
Buddy or Zorko. Both will give a bit of a headache yet form seems to be rising on both's game.
Yeah Buddy has a slightly better average than Gray over the past month although Gray has been unbelievable all season of course.
Zorko has also been tremendous averaging 107 over the past 3 so all these guys are in ripping form of late.
There's a significant price differential between all 3 which obviously will impact individual coaches decisions. Like the Swans SC finals draw compared to the Lions as another element to factor in there.
Because Buddy has a bit more support, he's definitely the sexier option. Think that appeal goes away after he hits $500K. Also, he's been known for the occasional brainfart that draws the MRP's ire.
Not one that stands out truly. As you said, all 3 will have impact.
Thanks for the help guys, I will go with buddy I reckon, he has been in some great form and can pull out some huge scores!
Big dog, I say bring in Gray. This season consistently has shown R. Gray is a premium forward/ mid that has overcome his injuries. Lock him in
How many trades does everyone have left?
Currently on 9 trades
11. Tempted to do two trades though this week….. Just because no real downgrade players bar miles and martin and no others even getting close yet
Should I still get rid of KK if he is my D8? Not liking the leaking of cash but I've got full premo defence and seems like a bit of a wasted trade.
Not many options to downgrade him too atm… But as long as your D7 is playing you can just pick up a dirt cheap player and hope theyd get a game but no stress if they dont.
My FWDs: Parker, Martin, Zorko, Danger, Fasolo, Tutt, McGovern and Charlie Cameron.
Like the idea of bringing Stefan Martin into the FWD this week – especially as he can swing into RUC with Thurlow (a bit of extra cover if something was to happen to Sandi or Sauce Jacobs). But who goes out? 13 trades and $246K in the bank – don't want to waste either. Or do I just sit tight and save for the finals? Cheers
Im toying with the idea to bring martin in as well, as my F6, till closer to finals and use for ruck cover as well if needed. But wont be a keeper – Should make 100k min though and provide some solid scores till looey gets back in 4-6 weeks.
Fasolo [be75] or Tutt [be27] would be on the block if it was me.
Fasolo would most likely be the one I'd trade out just because of breakevens
Fasolo is the obvious target here mate….especially if not named…..
even if named Fasolo has become very inconsistent for an onfield forward. you might be able to get away with him on the bench but I would cash him in with your structure.
Cheers James and The Garbo. All reports are Fasolo might be out for a few weeks, so probably logical choice to pull the trigger.
Fellas thoughts on this wisdom??? I go Ambrose to Spina (mid/fwd) then have easy swing set for Lewis Taylor to cover both my midifled and forward line then I go Adcock>Kennedy (swans) though Mcveigh swing
Ambrose still has money to make with a BE of 18
Not really much other to chop with Taylor and Shenton my only others
