PODCAST: Time to trade like mad bastards

Published by Jock on

Supercoach 2014 preseason podcast

At last we can trade in blokes knowing they’ve had their bye.

And we have some reasonable quality presenting itself to us as as well which is arousing.

Community – the next few weeks are a delicate balancing act. You want to concentrate on bringing your sides scoring capacity higher. You also want to make sure you’re cherry ripe to have at least 18 warm bodies on the deck for the next couple of rounds.

Sharpen your minds community. Sharpen your minds and focus NOW. This is the stage of the season where the inexperienced lapse in concentration.

And when members of this community pounce.

Enjoy the show.

thoughts on using my 3 trades this week?

sammy mitchell to bartel or hanley

roughy (if rubbed out) to ???? (need some help have danger, gray and zorko)

and suckling piggy to ??? (have hibberd, enright, mitchell have 212$ in the bank)

    Cozza · 11/05/2014 at 22:05

Roughy would only be out for 1-2 weeks I think if he is gone, so depending on how you look over the next two bye rounds I would suggest holding Roughy – He is someone you would probably want to keep for the season (unless you were planning on getting rid of him at some stage).

Simpson would be a good upgrade for the pig.

    shallots · 12/05/2014 at 00:59

Yes get roughy out for sure. He will get 2-3 weeks. Then he has 93 carry over points which is basically another week then he has a bye also. That could be 5 weeks out. Even if its 4 thats still 19% of the year he will miss.

      Ryan · 12/05/2014 at 15:43

      Got off with one week

    Leroy Kincade · 12/05/2014 at 22:00

    Hi Jen,
    Downgrade to Docherty

    joel · 15/05/2014 at 13:10

yeh sammy for bartel is best option than roughy for parker and piggy to swallow or mcveigh if you can afford

Jontyone · 11/05/2014 at 22:03

He community! Should be another cracker podcast.
Thoughts on going
Higgins>any round 8bye midfielder (via boomer dpp)
Merrett>Round 8 fwd premium forward

Jai · 11/05/2014 at 22:04

Significantly arousing podcast as usual Jock

Will · 11/05/2014 at 22:05

I say this in the nicest way possible, but Higgo reminds me of Norman Bates in the way he speaks of his mother! Happy mothers day!

    Neilsy · 12/05/2014 at 16:34

Yeah I can just picture him peeking behind the curtain, dissing out the breakevensswan too. Lol!

wippersnapper · 11/05/2014 at 22:32

Late trade of McDonald > Docherty so I avoid Robbo's 12. Yes or No?

    Kev · 12/05/2014 at 08:45

Not much cash to be made from that trade. But if you really need it for the league win then why not

Josh · 11/05/2014 at 22:33

What do you lads think of:

Ellis – Acres
Polec – Selwood
Higgins – Rnd 8 premium forward (although struggling to think of anyone decent)

Is it too early to cull Polec?

    Jai · 11/05/2014 at 22:41

I would be pulling the trigger on Polec. He is currently my M7 and if he can turn into a selwood, griffen or muddy for less than $80k more then thats a steal

    Gilly · 12/05/2014 at 06:41

Selwood's be is about 160, which he is capable of but if you wait another week you might save 20-30k

    Beady Eye · 12/05/2014 at 09:19

Polec's BE is still only going to be about 85, which he's shown he's more than capable of scoring.

I wouldn't be rushing to trade out one of the most consistent scorers in the game, especially not when he's got Melbourne and St Kilda as two of his next three.

      Frosty · 12/05/2014 at 10:09

      Polec's BE will be 61.

Gilly is correct, Selwood will cop a Crowley tag and hopefully drop another 20K

        Sarah · 12/05/2014 at 12:31

I'm not so sure about that. On current form the Crowley tag may go to Stevie J.

          Kenny Powers · 12/05/2014 at 18:59

Steve Johnstone Sarah .. you don't want to invoke the wrath of Lord Jock .. lol … but you are right about who Crowley may go to. Also Crowley hasn't been super efficient so far this season.

Kev · 11/05/2014 at 22:41

Is it time to trade Macrae to a rolled gold premium? He has done his job as a mid price breakout player (raised 140k). Looked to be struggling last night but saved faced with a big final term. Thoughts?

    dean · 11/05/2014 at 22:50

Yea i think its a good move, if you had him early enough, you made some cash from him, Griffen starting to look in better form, Macrae has probably peaked, Good time to get a round 8 premium who has already had their bye.

    Kris · 13/05/2014 at 00:34

Macrae copped a hard tag from cross and then was let loose in the fourth (cross went to boyd?) where he pulled in about half or more of his score. I would be holding for now.

Boomnation · 11/05/2014 at 22:46

Am I stupid to think buddy now has some upside with the Sydney midfield looking pretty solid?

    dean · 11/05/2014 at 22:52

I ran over the same thing myself today after seeing his score, but there are much better options in the forward line to go back to Buddy. Gray, Dalhaus, Parker, Wingard etc.

Jdawg · 11/05/2014 at 23:03

JOCK AND THE COMMUNITY! do i trade polec > selwood and bank more cash…. or tyson > selwood…

    favalinko · 11/05/2014 at 23:09

My advice is wait post round 9 for Selwood, his price go down and Polec and Tyson price go up. Save cash $.Welcome

      SCaddict · 12/05/2014 at 02:34

I agree favalinko. I'm in no hurry to rush Jelwood in to my side just yet either.

If he puts out more 70-80 type rubbish next weekend with Crowley hanging all over him he could end up dropping below $500K eventually. So it could be as long as a month before he fully bottoms out in price.

Also I think we need to see at least some sort of return to elite output form before we fork out the investment capital. He could be carrying an undisclosed niggle for all we know that's been hindering his performance lately.

        Gilly · 12/05/2014 at 06:52

I agree, he has a be of 158 for next week so while possible unlikely to reach that. Also concerned about injury, remember he had foot surgery late in the pre season. I didn't start with him as I was concerned that it had been an ongoing issue and he had a managed pre season.

I might be jumping at shadows but just thinking back to nic nat last year, limited preseason then came back and went bang bang. We all got on board thinking he was back then he turned into a stinking turd.

    shallots · 12/05/2014 at 05:22

depends on how many you are fielding this week. If you dont get Jelwood then Polec will be on the bench this week. And Jelwood could easily smash out a 140 and only drop another 10K. Now is the business time of the season and theyre the risks involved. The aim is to get the best team ASAP. Look at Danger- he made up his losses in 2 weeks

taylorwoof · 11/05/2014 at 23:27

Wonderful podcast again lads!

Crouching One had me in stitches!

Enjoy tomorrow night's match everyone, and may you have a good week ahead.

    SCaddict · 12/05/2014 at 02:40

Barring a late withdrawl miracle tomorrow you should have me in Throttledome this weekend leaving you as the only undefeated side in that league.

So well played in advance! Hopefully I'll get another crack at you in the finals at some point. 🙂

      taylorwoof · 12/05/2014 at 11:02

      Cheers SCaddict!

I didn't realise it was you, who i was playing against – The 'Addicts' Anonymous tag should of given it away…..hahahahaha

Thought i was on the ropes after Hawks v Swannies scores – JPK 153!

tyzsb · 11/05/2014 at 23:36

Any good round 8 forwards? Looking to upgrade Higgins…… Had him since round 1 and think it is time to cash in!!!

    taylorwoof · 12/05/2014 at 00:11

This was covered in the podcast bud.

In short: Forwards coming off bye not great, may need to hold for an extra week for a Gray, Dahlhaus or Wingard.

      Adam · 13/05/2014 at 08:02

      Weekend at Charlie's???

    Rodger · 12/05/2014 at 17:53

JX20 · 11/05/2014 at 23:48

Is Christian Salem worth a look at some stage? Had the vest 3 times which has caused his price to drop this round. However the kid can play and looks at home everytime he comes on. I can see his JS being healthy and I think will eventually make you a nice earn once he starts games and will provide a healthy emerg score.

    Kev · 12/05/2014 at 08:56

Bang on, JX20. He was played 3qrts of footy in those games, and has gone 25, 25, 46. Kicked a goal in each game. Just needs a good run at it

      Mungos Men · 12/05/2014 at 10:16

I think Proos is playing him the same as JKH until he gets the speed of the game he will have the vest! JS good will play full games after the bye I believe!

Captain joc · 12/05/2014 at 00:34

Community thought on buddy franklin??? Now that the fwd line is fit n firing together with Tippett back and Sydney playing a lot better

    Garglesnarf FC · 12/05/2014 at 13:22

Not this week CJ, hold off til after the bye. Buddy has been 1 game on followed by 1 game off so far this season. I decent score does not a premo forward make.

Would prefere Bruest, Wingard, Dalhaus over the 9Million dollar man, at least until Buddy manages 2-3 decent scores in a row.

      The Regular · 13/05/2014 at 12:58

I disagree. There are valid excuses for all his low scores this year.

His first two, it was pouring down not unlike the flood in which Noah had to build the ark which doesn’t suit lone full forwards.

His most recent was injury related. With Tippet, Reid and Goodes as other forward targets, he will almost certainly not get the attention he has been getting to this point.

I expect him to average 100+ for rest of the season barring incident/injury and is currently priced under 80 ave. That’s a bargain in my book.

BundyBear · 12/05/2014 at 01:28

LOL 2 goals and 7 behinds is not firing .

SCaddict · 12/05/2014 at 02:51

What are the community's thoughts on BJ 'Lord of the Trouser Ring' Floggard as an M7/M8 upgrade option this week? That's of course assuming he plays this Friday and that the jaw is fine.

Obviously not ideal with his Rd10 bye still around the corner but from a price perspective this would be the optimal week to bring him in, somewhere around the $460K mark, now that the 11 from Rd4 has finally left his pricing.

Has tonned up every week he's played, bar the one where he was subbed out early, resulting in an adjusted average of 116 and will have a tiny BE this week. Perhaps the Priddis like bargain buy of 2014.

As an aside it looks like Josh Kelly has fattened up fully now and with his bye about to occur he's the lamb I would silence for this purpose.

    Morse · 12/05/2014 at 10:00

SC, I like your thinking as I was looking at the very same.

BJ is like a bit like Priddis, he won't go as high as Ablett or Pendles as often (occasional 140+) but he rarely has a bad game unless inhury plays a roll.

You can bank him in for 95-120 each and every week and that is good enough for a M7/M8 spot on any man's teams.

I will however wait until after his bye, he will only drop approx $15K this week and a break even next week of about 90 so may go back up another $5K unless he has a 150+ game meaning at the start of round 11 he should still be around that $475K mark.

Good enough for me to bring in

    Frosty · 12/05/2014 at 10:19

Thought i was the only one, Goddard is straight in this week at $466, 000.
Averaging 116 for 5 games if you remove his 11 when he was subbed out 5 mins in.

His BE will be 40 next week, a score of 100 will be a $26k price rise.

    Mike · 12/05/2014 at 13:21

Trade in player with bye coming? You arsehole, fly kick your nuts. Welcome.

    Neilsy · 12/05/2014 at 16:40

    Great work scaddict

sammyd · 12/05/2014 at 07:36

i am on 1650 with montagna simpson reiweldt and smurphy

    Garglesnarf FC · 12/05/2014 at 09:27

Nice, I am pretty happy on 1480 with four to play but I only have Smurph, Reiwoldt, Dunstan & Billings!

    Morse · 12/05/2014 at 10:04

Good work Sammy, I'm on 1764 with Thomas and Dunstan to go so should make the 1900 mark which I am very happy with.

A good % booster when my best of 5 league opponents will be around the 1100 range.

This might hurt us come round 10 though, I will need to (as crouching one would say) "TRADE ARSE OFF".

    Good luck my man

Sleepy · 12/05/2014 at 07:50

If you can crack the 2000 mark in a bye round you have done very well. Good on u Sammyd

Sarah · 12/05/2014 at 08:05

Hi guys, need some advice.
I'm predicted to lose my league match this week in my money league by about 100 points. Is it worth the trade of McDonald to Simpson to try to get the win this week even though he'll then miss next week? Don't have many round 9 bye players so would have almost a full team next week, but was planning on getting Bartel. By getting Simpson this week I won't be able to afford Bartel next week. But was planning on getting Simpson at some stage.
Thoughts? Should I go for the win?

    Garglesnarf FC · 12/05/2014 at 08:39

It sounds like it fits into your structures ok, just not sure if you will get 100+ out of Simpson. Who do you play next week, and will having Bartel be critical next week?

Maybe ask yourself this, if he scores 90 and you lose by 10, are you you still happy to have Simpson in your side, knowing that you cant have Bartel?

      Morse · 12/05/2014 at 10:07

      I agree with GFC.

You also need to look at where you are in your league, if you are sitting top 6 now, you still have every chance of making the grand final in that league so a short term trade now to win 1 game may proved to be the killer if at the end of the season, you have traded out Simpson?

Based on what you have told us and if you are top 6 in the league, I wouldn't do the trade at the expense of not being able to get bartel next week.

      Sarah · 12/05/2014 at 11:55

Thanks Garglesnarf! Good advice. Although I think I've just decided to get Dal Santo in the mids instead of Bartel next week. Either way, it'll help me win the next two rather than this week and maybe the next two.

        BlueBalls FC · 12/05/2014 at 22:11

how do ya feel now simpson got 144+. haha i feel real good

          Ocker · 12/05/2014 at 22:49

Shame you never had an opinion in the first place BlueBalls. After the fact silly comment.

            Sarah · 13/05/2014 at 07:54

Turns out I still would've lost if I'd picked him up so it doesn't bother me. Hello Bartel (or Dal Santo) and Pendlebury and welcome to my team!! Can't be upset about it when you get to bring in those two quality players in one week!!! : )

canman1306 · 12/05/2014 at 09:41

This week I will be using all 3 trades
AlexG -> Tippet
Merrett-> Bartel through DPP (Zorko)
L-Mac/Suckling -> Acres/Salem Through DPP (Bartel)

    Bowski · 13/05/2014 at 15:22

Not sure about Tippet's JS. Might end up sitting on your bench not earning cash.

Pots · 12/05/2014 at 10:05

I have a dilemma I would appreciate your thoughts on.
Currently up by 191 and have Murphy to play tonight. Have got the VC on McVeigh's 131. Opponent has Murphy as C, Ray and Simpson.
Do I loophole to get McVeigh's 131 or move the big C to Murphy?

    Akka · 12/05/2014 at 10:16

    Go with Mcveigh

    Frosty · 12/05/2014 at 10:32

are you up by another 131 if you use McVeigh?

    322 lead with 1 player v 4 (effectively 0 v 3) or 191 up with 0 v 2.

    Murphy's recent scores (last 4 years) v St.Kilda are 75, 57, 78, 73, 115, 90 and 75.

Go with McVeigh, you'd have to be stiff for Murphy to go big.

      Frosty · 12/05/2014 at 10:34

only way it's not the right choice is if Murphy scores over 131. Can't see that happening.

      Pots · 12/05/2014 at 10:39

Thanks Akka and Frosty. My C has not played so I will receive the additional 131 once play begins.

Nishy · 12/05/2014 at 10:19

1987 with Simpson, Walker, and Jack Steven still to play anyone going better then me?

Mike · 12/05/2014 at 10:45

Simply the best podcast on the net. Welcome. There's just got to be an ABC tv series in this. We need more of you three characters.
Going with Suckling to Bartell, Kelly to Cotchin, Polec to Pendles this week after stashing some cash last. Cotchin may have sucked so far, but his draw looks too good to ignore from here on.

    SCaddict · 12/05/2014 at 10:58

They are three huge upgrades in one foul swoop so I'm envious. Must feel awesome to go BANG BANG BANG like that. Your opponents next week are in for quite a shock ha ha.

I started with Cotch but my faith has been surely tested this season so I hope you are right Mike.

      Mike · 12/05/2014 at 13:04

Yeah, his only big scores are v poor teams. He's got something like two games with saints, gws and one Melbourne one Lions to come. Or something like that.

      Garglesnarf FC · 12/05/2014 at 13:25

      +1 🙁

    Derek · 12/05/2014 at 11:23

How much cash do you need for those upgrades?

      Mike · 12/05/2014 at 13:13

I was "three times an arsehole" last week. (Best song yet) and have stashed away $590000 after dealing Stich to Salem, plus another downgrade. Stich be at 138 and is an ideal sub coming back into the Swans. Still hurt me when Salem was unbelievably the sub again. Would have easily toned up in a full game. Not only did he score "only" 45 but price dropped when I was counting on it going way up. The perfect trade in target for a bench keeper I reckon. He'll average over 80 for rest of the year.

        Bowski · 13/05/2014 at 15:27

If he averages over 80 for the next 6-8 weeks, how much will he appreciate??

JX20 · 12/05/2014 at 11:04

Montagna's last 7 games of 2013 averaged over 131+ including prelim 154 and GF 165 scores.
Slow start this year but with the return of Steven has gone 140 174 144.
With his bye yet to come, 637K, BE 61 tonight – is there a good time to grab him? Or simply leave him alone? Massive POD and can he be a top 5 midfielder by the end of the year?

    SCaddict · 12/05/2014 at 11:14

He's been in ripping form the past month. Unfortunately you are paying top dollar for him at the moment and with the rookie situation looking a little dire right now we have to conserve every dollar we can lay our hands on.

I'd still also rather throw that sort of coin towards a Pendles upgrade instead, as predictable and uninspired as that may seem.

However those who already have Monty must be basking in a Supercoach glow. Will be keenly watching to see whether he can keep that 140 plus form going tonight!

    gab · 13/05/2014 at 13:00

    dont you mean 2010?
vcant recall monatnga playing in the grnny last year ?

      Sarah · 13/05/2014 at 15:08

I think he's refering to SC prelim and GF rounds… ie. Round 22 and 23.

TNT · 12/05/2014 at 11:18

Hey people,

Would I be better off going;

Kelly to Swan
Polec to Pendlebury

    SCaddict · 12/05/2014 at 11:57

I'm in a similar position having both Kelly and Polec. Still reckon Lord Farquaad hasn't quite run his race just yet so intend to hold on to him a little longer. Think the time is about right to cull Kelly now though.

So my preference would be option A although I'm looking myself at bringing in BJ Goddard instead for $100K less than Swanny. Swanny at $564K is still a bargain though especially with his bye out of the way now.

Derek · 12/05/2014 at 11:21

I went bang bang bang this week and looks like paying off. Well ahead in 4 leagues.

Close league; Do you think walker and Dunstan will out score Simpson by 10?

    Mungos Men · 12/05/2014 at 16:07

60 from Dunstan and 80 by walker should get you through! 130 is gettable by murphy but will have tom curren in his back pocket…

Jimmy · 12/05/2014 at 11:28

im thinking of downgrading aish and McDonald next week.get in jobe and selwood when they are right

    Kenny Powers · 12/05/2014 at 19:41

McDonald for sure but you may as well wait with Aish .. he has his bye in R 10. That is the best time to get him to slaughterhouse!

SuperCurious · 12/05/2014 at 12:23

What are peoples thoughts on old mate Daniel Jackson from the tiges? Posting some good scores, bye gone and could be a significant POD.

He is a complete toss bag off the field by the looks, however you have to look past these things when you are chasing SC glory……

    Coffscoast Slurry · 12/05/2014 at 17:12

I was having a good hard look at him as well Jimmy BUT came to the conclusion doesnt seem to be capable of pulling out massive scores. Looks consistent yes as probably will never get the tag with Deledio and Cotchin there. Depends how the rest of your mids are looking – IF you just need some consistency ie: 100-105 output each week he or priddis will almost guarantee you that but he is not going to ever pump out a 160 etc like a selwood, johnson, pendles etc. He wouldve been great to have at the start of the year but dont think i can bring him now.

      SuperCurious · 12/05/2014 at 20:12

I am hearing you – had a good look at Priddis in the last few hours and I think he is a better option at a similar price after his bye.

    Leroy Kincade · 12/05/2014 at 20:39

He's a real good downgrade cover option for smurph, Libba etc but he wont be a top ten midfielder.

    Damo · 13/05/2014 at 20:30

He’s not a toss bag. He’s a fantastic bloke. Inspiration and role model. What the hell are you talking about? Dud supercoach pick though. Go on trade him in, you deserve it.

Tom.H · 12/05/2014 at 12:27

573k in the , time for extreme upgrades!

McDonald –> Bartel
Polec –> Selwood
Crouch –> Pendlebury

    SCaddict · 12/05/2014 at 13:36

Would be nice but you'd need nearly $750K in the bank by my calcs to do that mate.

      Stickers · 12/05/2014 at 16:18

i love how people do that! Getting a bit excited! no point in getting Selwood this week anyway 😉

Tom · 12/05/2014 at 15:40

Is Matty Wright ready to be traded? Or do we keep for a few more weeks?
Same with Macrae and Suckling?

    Tom · 12/05/2014 at 15:59

with Jaensch out I'm hopeful Wright will go back and play the role he played in pre-season and his output should increase.

Ryan · 12/05/2014 at 15:56

G'Day community, thoughts on these trades
Polec –> acres
Aish –> dangerfield
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Beady Eye · 12/05/2014 at 16:03

There's still plenty of cash to be milked from Polec. Wouldn't ditch him just yet.

Gab · 12/05/2014 at 16:13

getting suckling out this week, am looking for bartel, is he the way to go ??
also who is the number 1 midfielder we should be targeting this week? Jobe, Swanny, Cotch….??

    Kenny Powers · 12/05/2014 at 19:47

Think plenty of coaches are looking to bring in Bartel this week, many using Suckling as the trade. Jobe still has bye so either of those 2 .. if you don't have to trade this week it may be worth waiting for Libba .. seems to have hit premium supercoach form

    gab · 13/05/2014 at 12:57

swanny, steven J, Selwood reckon would be your best bets gab

      gab · 13/05/2014 at 12:57

yeah they all seem like good options, reckon Selwood is my man

        gab · 13/05/2014 at 12:58

also what are your thoughts on CALLAn WARD after this week?

          gab · 13/05/2014 at 12:58

yeah i reckon ward will be up there as top 10 mids for the year looks the goods mate

STICKERS · 12/05/2014 at 16:22

According to all these comments Bartel and Selwood will be in 90% of peoples teams…

Might be a good P.O.D not to get them..

Something different i guess, could pay off. In saying that i think Bartel in defence is a must have by finals time.

Simon T · 12/05/2014 at 16:27

Hey there Jock and Super coach community.

I'm currently 2-3 and predicted to lose in both leagues by 58 and 240 respectively but have Montagna as captain tonight. Have made 1 trade so far and not sure whether to make another such as McDonald to Bruce (Saints) – provided he doesn't cop the vest or to Docherty to make some extra cash or leave until next week/week after and use the trade then. Not sure on Bruce's JS or Docherty's scoring potential. Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

billy · 12/05/2014 at 17:22

hey guys just wondering if I should trade out L Mcdonald to J Tippet now so that I have an extra trade to use for round 9?

Ryan K · 12/05/2014 at 17:32

Hey Guys,

I have three spots left for premium mids and will fill them in the next couple of weeks.

Which three to choose from these four though?

Jelwood, Watson, Stevie J and Goddard.

Leaning towards the first three, but at his price Goddard is hard to pass up.

    Josh · 12/05/2014 at 18:45

    first 3

    Bob McBob · 12/05/2014 at 19:19

If you have the cash to pick the first 3, then do that.

tom · 12/05/2014 at 17:35

Great Pod-cast Jock Reynolds peter higgionbottham and crouching one and i lam looking forward to Mick the Mad Irishman triumphant return. To payback the INCREDIBLE work you boys do here is my wisdom for the community.
The first part of my wisdom is i will closely follow the St Kilda vs Carlton match tonight with much interest because of the upcoming star Billy Acres however i will not be swayed with a 60 or 70 or even 80 to go to the extent of getting him in my team i will only be satisfied with a 32 possession game with 110 super coach points beside his name. Because i believe it is not worth it to downgrade to a player that is going to slow burn this far into the season. Lets say Billy Acres doesn't achieve my bench mark i will use my trades to swap burgone with McDonald making burgone in the midfield leaving burgone as a keeper in my back line for the rest of the year and then i will trade Mcdonald who is a certain trade out this week because he is now bleeding cash and it is a good time to trade him out for a premium. I am thinking obviously selwood with his price and everything however since he has the Crowley trade and Crowley has been down this year and will probably fight back this week to stop selwood i probably wont does anyone have any suggestions for a upgrade player for Mcdonald.
thoughts appreciated

    Josh · 12/05/2014 at 17:40

tom, this is inspiring stuff and a great idea but don't you think your asking a bit much of Billy? There are next to zero downgrade options this week and if you can name one better than Acres please enlighten me and the community. While some people may have the cash for an upgrade as you clearly do, the majority will have to downgrade first and Acres or maybe Hartung seem like the picks of the bunch.
    Your thoughts?

      Captain joc · 12/05/2014 at 20:36

Looks like he heard you loud and clearly tom

BCHawks · 12/05/2014 at 17:50

hey guys just wondering if I should trade out L Mcdonald to J Tippet now so that I have an extra trade to use for round 9?

    Kenny Powers · 12/05/2014 at 19:57

I ended up using that process .. traded McDonald for Swallow so that I could have 1 down and 2 upgrades next week. May only do 1 upgrade, 1 down but I have now have the option to use 3 trades that will significantly improve my team. Potentially I'll be bringing in 3 premium keepers and 1 late autumn lamb .. cash and points .. I like it!

GarglesnarfFC · 12/05/2014 at 17:56

Tippett might not even named. Plus I agree with Crouchings assessment of him, flog.

    BCHawks · 12/05/2014 at 18:52

thanks will hold then and trade him out next week for a keeper.

Captain joc · 12/05/2014 at 18:11

    Tommykwr · 12/05/2014 at 18:32

Bit of a POD should keep scoring well

crabb · 12/05/2014 at 18:26

McD to Jimmy and Hickey to Dixon this week.
Next week Dunstan and Daisy to Pendes and Selwood with flipper down to hartung.

Tommykwr · 12/05/2014 at 18:33

Not sure about how long Dixon can stay fit for seems like he's always injured

    crabb · 12/05/2014 at 18:40

True, it will be a toss up between him and sauce. It's more if I go to dixon now, and he does pay off with consistent scores (as he will be in the ruck consistently for at least 10 weeks), then i can swing him forward later in the season if there aren't 6 consistently scoring forwards by then.

I hope ya got on Docherty for Webster.

      throttlefinger · 12/05/2014 at 20:43

Unfortunately didn't get on Docherty for Webby. Looks like it would've been a great move now, YGM.

Was going to trade out Webster on round 10 but may have to do sooner. Won't do much good bringing Docherty in rd 9 though. Ugh.

        Leroy Kincade · 12/05/2014 at 20:50

CHM wasn't on the Aust release of Powerage, you could only get it as 12" single in the 1981 box set. I was blown away when I heard it on the 'IRONMAN' soundtrack; I thought stephen king was the only AC/DC fan in hollywood

Is Suckling to Enright to sideways???

    Leroy Kincade · 12/05/2014 at 22:13

No its backwards. Look at Docherty for a downgrade

      Bowski · 13/05/2014 at 15:55

How much do you think Docherty appreciate Leroy? I like the look of him too, he's a 1st round draft pick. Looks good.

    Cozza · 12/05/2014 at 23:30

Its not backwards – Enright is more of a keeper than Suckling. However, there are probably better options in the back line like Simpson, McVeigh, Bartel and Hibberd if you don't have any of them

      Leroy Kincade · 12/05/2014 at 23:36

Enright is old and past his best. Sure he's a reliable 80pts but who wants 80pts from their D5 or D6? Answer=somebody who doesn't like winning their league comp or having a shot at the weekly $1,000.

Thought that was the case but did the maths and it appears I did get the double points

    michael · 12/05/2014 at 23:01

Same with me, did a double take then got the calculator out and all good. 1648 from 18 on field, only 5 tons so a bit disappointed. Thank god I had C on JPK. What’s par this week do you reckon?

      BeagzBoyz · 12/05/2014 at 23:02

Looking at the leagues i'm in, par seems to be around the 1700-1750 mark.

Tony from Perth · 12/05/2014 at 22:55

How did Acres get 91? Game not on TV in WA but stats don't seem to look like he dominated?? Worth bringing in??

    Leroy Kincade · 12/05/2014 at 23:03

Definitely worth bringing him in Tony. He had a lot of ball and knows where to be to get the easy pozzy. Looks like he learned to play in WA.

    GarglesnarfFC · 13/05/2014 at 06:43

No idea how he got 91! Winged had 5 goals and more possies, won them the game and got 95!

Still trading him in for Dunstan.

      David · 13/05/2014 at 09:20

      & didn't even play 3 full qtrs!

    Flacid Jaff · 13/05/2014 at 13:07

He looks talented, and is quick, got a few disposals but coughed it up a few times panicking under pressure. Got subbed out. No idea how he got 91, very puzzling, SC scorers must like him. If he can score that well playing an average game for 3 quarters in a losing side, then he MUST be seriously considered by everyone given the lack of alternative mid season rookies!

Donavan · 12/05/2014 at 23:10

Hartung on the bubblein round 10, Acres in round 11, if they continue to be selected and fit.

Acres is on the bubble this week

    GarglesnarfFC · 13/05/2014 at 06:45

Correct CJ. Downgrade to Acres this week, and Hartung the next as you cannot afford to miss any decent rookies right now because there aren't many around.

Suckling Pig> Jimmy Bartel

Thoughts community?

    Great move!

    Andrew · 13/05/2014 at 01:50

Pretty good mate but i'd get some cheaper then Johnson.
    Fyfe 601K 122 Avg
    Rockliff 586K 119 Avg
2 guys who can pull scores of 130-150+
And you'd get them 32-47K cheaper.

      gab · 13/05/2014 at 12:26

the stevie j has had his bye so would consider higher than

    throttlefinger · 13/05/2014 at 08:32

Like SP to Bartel. SJ has a 138 BE and is playing in Perth where he doesn't have the greatest of records vs. Freo. R10 may be better.

Do you have any DPPs in your mids? Maybe Polec for Bartel so you give yourself some flexibility later on. And I selfishly say that as I'm considering doing the same from Dunstan.

Nick · 13/05/2014 at 00:24

Trading daisy thomos out have heaps of cash in the bank i don't whether to get in swan, Watson, griiffin, ward leaning to swan as he has already had his bye thoughts?

    Andrew · 13/05/2014 at 01:47

Watson looks to be the best pick apart from the fact he has the bye in R10.
Griffin looks like his starting to hit form and is under 500K but has the bye.
Swan and Ward are both great players, but Watson would be my Number 1 pick, coming of a 158, and price at what 523 or something? Can't knock that.

    Kenny Powers · 13/05/2014 at 15:53

What about little Libba? In the same price range and is a tackling machine .. tackles = big points. Ward is usually very clean with the ball, regularly 75+% on DE. Even with a stack of handballs on the weekend and his team getting thumped, he scored 123. Watson probably a better pickup after his bye although his price will go up after that 153 kicks in. Swan is Swan, has had his bye and is available at a good price .. can go real big but can get left in the forward line for too long sometimes. In saying that he is a goal kicker. All are solid picks.

Pecks · 13/05/2014 at 00:52

Is it worth jumping late onto Sam lloyd? He is $199k with what you would think is great JS. Would allow me to do something with Impey's spot and should gain $140K by round 14 if he averages 60. Any advice?

    Andrew · 13/05/2014 at 01:43

You've probably missed the boat mate.
There's Fletcher Roberts from bulldogs who played his first game this week although JS is pretty average. Have you got Ambrose? His JS is pretty good with players out and his priced at 149.8K? Only problem is he has the bye in R10.

      Bowski · 13/05/2014 at 16:00

Pecks I would be going Ambrose

    Kenny Powers · 13/05/2014 at 16:08

There was talk prior to Richmond's last match that Lloyd would be dropped or get the vest so that may be something to keep in mind. However, he did play and although he didn't get a lot of touches, he scored a solid 74. Adelaide will be blooding a future "lamb" this week who will be a lot cheaper. His job security sounds pretty good if you listen to the coach. Do you have DPP swinger to be able to take advantage of the Mid rookies …

skate or die · 13/05/2014 at 00:58

Andrew · 13/05/2014 at 01:23

Thinking of 3 trades this week
Hallahan > Acres
Polec > Watson
Terlich > Bartel
Will leave me with 90k in the bank
Team will look like this
Def : Mcveigh, Swallow, Simpson, Bartel, Enright, Langdon (Gergiou, J Tippet)
Mid : Ablett, Watson, Fyfe, Rockliff, Beams, Treloar, J Selwood, Robertson (Acres, Hartung)
Rk: Sandilands, Hampson (Currie, King)
Fwd: Dangerfield, Martin, Zorko, Pavlich, Higgins, Lloyd ( Ambrose, JKH)
Thoughts would be much appreciated community 🙂
P.s, I know Hallahan is still cheap and will go up but it was either trade him like i did or miss the boat on Acres who's price will go up next week and Trade JKH who's price will still go up and i have a plan to trade him after next week where his price should go at least 300k for a young guy from bulldogs called Fletcher Roberts who played his first game and has the bye this week and even if he becomes a doughnut, i still have Ambrose on the bench as a cover. And then with money i'd make from it (probably around 290-295k) I'd hold off on the trades and wait for Lloyd or Robbo's price to peak then go a premium.

    Ocker · 13/05/2014 at 02:25

Stop and take a deep breath son it is just the end of the footy week. Hallahan is still -17 BE why would you trade him? You don't have to have Acres. Trades are gold with the price of rookies. There are plenty of options you have there without parting with Hallahan. Trade Higgins up to a gun, Or Robertson to Acres would make more sense after copping the vest.
Settle down, Fletcher Roberts does not play this week he Might play round 10 which means you don't have to bring him in till round 11 when he is on the bubble.

      Andrew · 13/05/2014 at 03:20

This is just an option, not a final result.
I like Robertson, i reckon his a consistent player but why the green vested him i can't understand.
I never said Fletcher would be a sure thing, seeing how hard forward rookies are to get, he seems like someone to maybe go. As i said, JKH still has money to make so im not going to trade him. A lot of people said trade Langdon after he had a average spell and he came out with that 128 so just because Robertson was green vested, doesn't mean to trade him. If he keeps on being vested then yes i agree but how many times have you seen a player score poorly, get traded out and then bounce back with a big score?

        Ocker · 13/05/2014 at 04:04

Just trying to give you some options, I still have Lagdon and Lanford myself and don't plan on parting with them in the near future due to lack of options forward and back. But looking to make cash because of low BE. Robertson 59 ave and BE of 48 makes him a prime candidate for culling.. You don't need a forward rookie looking at your team. All the money is in the midfield. You ask for an opinion don't knock it. Last years winner said you have to be ruthless sometimes with rookies. This year maybe an exception with their prices but just an opinion like you asked for. Hallahan too Acres in my opinion is a wasted trade. You like Robertson then trade Hallahan to Acres.

        Ocker · 13/05/2014 at 04:56

Not knocking Fletcher either, But you were talking 2 weeks in advance with that one. Other options will arrive soon enough.

      GarglesnarfFC · 13/05/2014 at 06:52

Got to agree with Ocker. Trading Hallahan is insane, good JS and looked bloody good on Friday night in a loss. Is also scoring well in a good team. Much better M8 than Robbo.

With ASADA once again rearing it's ugly head, I would keep clear of Watto this week until we see what happens. Maybe swan or Pendles?

BCHawks · 13/05/2014 at 08:36

I have worked out my trades for this week and next week and would like some opinions on them.
Round 9
Out Aish In Acres
Out Mcdonald In Hurn ( I know he has a buy but I have enough playing this week)
Out Polec In Bartel (I can then swing him into my defense later)

Round 10
Out Robertson in Hartung
Out Rioli in Wingard
Out Cunningham in Selwood

It would leave me with only 2 rookies on field 1 in defense (KK) and one in my midfield ( Crouch)
Thanks in advance

    Jesse · 13/05/2014 at 10:11

Mate I;ve been keeping a close on eye Hurn and he's come back and looks a very safe pick, whenever he stays on the park he always produces,
I had him and the start and he burnt me but I can see him averaging mid 90s on the way home

      David · 13/05/2014 at 15:15

Jesse you sound like a bloody genius, Loved your input on the podcasts this year.
I like your insight on Hurn I think he will come home like a wet sail unlike jock said

Higgins out for Bock (or another FWD under $200k)

Polec out for Pendlebury

Dunstan out for Jelwood

On the flip side Wingard kicks 5 goals, takes a number of marks inside 50 has 17 touches and still can't ton up. I'm not a Wingard owner but would've been peeved by that if I was.

So you have to wonder how closely they audit the scores at times.

      Kenny Powers · 13/05/2014 at 19:21

The problem with the scoring is somebody, somewhere is making a judgement call on the value of each possession. teams of trained statisticians supposedly assess the state of the game, the pressure on the player and the result of a disposal or possession to determine a score for that action. Paddy Ryder got a massive boost for kicking the "winning" goal – when they were already in front! The score boosts players have been given in this situation is often ridiculous, Hanley and Dog Dog are 2 prime examples from last year where they got over 40 points for one kick .. but the best example was the winning free kick and goal just before the siren by Bartel against North .. his score jumped from around 80-something to 149 …

    JX20 · 13/05/2014 at 13:01

90% of his possessions were contested & tackled and applied pressure at every contest. Was 79 when subbed out and drifted up to 91 by the end.
Still I was surprised with his score. The propeller heads at Champion Data must have picked him up during the week – but I'm not complaining :p

      Kenny Powers · 13/05/2014 at 19:22

Propeller Heads .. luv it!!! Haha

      Dustbin Feltchers · 14/05/2014 at 01:51

yeah i cant figure it out either, only 10 touches, 1 goal, 5 tackles (58dt) and a few silly mistakes early on..91 seems way too high…

Gazza · 13/05/2014 at 08:54

Havent pulled any punches this week and have gone with the following:
Cunningham > Ablett
Robertson > Acres
Polec > D.Swallow (via DPP)
Thoughts jock and community?

    Mike · 13/05/2014 at 11:47

Can’t argue with that, not sure bout that Ablett fellow being a keeper though.

Tom.H · 13/05/2014 at 09:04

My current MID structure is:

Ablett, Pendlebury, Libba, Rockliff, Beams, Watson, N.Jones, Crouch (Taylor, Hallahan)

Thinking about my final upgrade to finsh my MIDS which would be full of premos. Would it be better to Uprade Taylor in the mids to someone like Selwood/Sloane OR switch him down into the FWD, bring up Danger and then have a swing option for the remainder of the season. Would then trade Taylor for Gray next round.

My FWD structure atm is Danger, Parker, Zorko, Martin, Fasolo, JKH (Lloyd, Ambrose)

I feel that if i swing Danger up into the MIDS, my FWD line will be exposed too much and i'd have to field Fasolo, JKH and LLoyd, although if i just upgrade Taylor in the MIDS, I would have to go the remainder of the season without a swing option!
Please someone help me as to which option would be better for my team in the long run?
A) Upgrade Taylor in Mids
B) Upgrade Taylor in Fwd
Thanks Community!

jvk16 · 13/05/2014 at 09:28

Looking at doing 1 upgrade and 2 downgrades this week,
I am going suckling to bartel, next week will do the 1 downgrade and 2 upgrades hope to get jelwood/libba/gray
just after opinions, is Georgiou to Tipett worth the trade?
Can see Tipett as being similar to Georgiou get close to 200k before an upgrade if any one comes through,
cant see anyone else really coming through any time soon? cant hold georgiou for ever? need advice!
Acres is a must this week just like Hartung will be next week,
so who do we trade out Dunstan or Robertson this week?
advice appreciated as i think others would be in a similar position

    The Mullet · 13/05/2014 at 10:50

Wait and see if Georgiou is named this week. He copped a head knock last week. If he comes back into the team after a week off, that tells me his JS is very good, and he will be my D8 for the rest of the season. But your structure for the byes also comes into calculations as well (Melb R10, Nth R8). Its a risky strategy, but with the lack of low priced rookie defenders on the radar, I've been turning over forward rookies to generate cash to steadily upgrade the defenders to full premos.

      Madono · 13/05/2014 at 14:52

Georgiou is done for the season unless there is an injury down back. He was only elevated off the rookie list to cover for Garland

Liam · 13/05/2014 at 09:29

Everyone i'd be steering clear of WAYNOS hot tips, look at the track record! Hodge – injured, Goddard – Injured, Fasalo – Injured, Dalhaus – scores a 71 after tonning up 3 times in a row! Thats just off the top of my head, there may be more! Look out those who own chad wingard – Beware the wayno curse……………………!

    Nishy · 13/05/2014 at 10:08

mate shut the hell up waynos a top bloke, he messed with the supercoach gods now he's having a bit of trouble getting back on track.
When you get on Jocks podcast then you can start bagging him
your a disgrace to the game of supercoach

      Liam · 13/05/2014 at 11:50

No bagging anyone mate, it is tongue in cheek!! Like when you say you avoid any horse your mate tips you?? If you couldn't get that from what i read…well that's not my issue! Suggest you might be a young fellow and me thinks maybe a tad slow! Relax champ, i love the podcast and wayno's section, was just pointing out the irony of his hot tips!!

      Calm done buddy

Pull up nishy,if someone’s in the wrong then it’s ok to identify it,it’s part of supercoach.Mate go to the fridge and pull out a nice cold one and don’t take life so seriously.Just keeping Wayno on his toes that’s all.

Goku · 13/05/2014 at 09:53

Hey guys just a quick question … Is it worth trading in Fyfe? Or should I go someone who is cheap at the moment like watson?

Fyfe is just a gun!!

    medadsson · 13/05/2014 at 15:32

Simply can't go wrong with Fyfe, constantly wins contested ball, takes contested marks, does all of the hard stuff. Only weakness is his disposal by foot, could easily ave another 20-25 a game if he improved that flaw but most of his possessions are in traffic and usually kicking while under pressure. Beware round 10 bye. Come to think of it, your question has just prompted me to trade him in … thanks 🙂 (PS – similar player is Sloane – very consistent and both have scooby doo shaggy hairstyles!)

      Goku · 13/05/2014 at 18:16

      Cheers mate appreciate the info

I like Sloane but can’t go past fyfe at the moment

THE KERNAL · 13/05/2014 at 10:11

Thoughts on brendan floggard?

    Morse · 13/05/2014 at 11:16

Wait until after his bye. I'll pick him up at the start of round 11 as my M8

Mitch · 13/05/2014 at 10:49

Should we trade in Ess players ie Watson? What happens if they all get suspended?

    MightyDonsFC · 13/05/2014 at 22:00

They should refund the trade if that happens

Sarah · 13/05/2014 at 10:58

Finally round 8 is over!!!

This week's trades:

Polec out – Pendlebury IN
McDonald out – Bartel IN
Gleeson out – Acres IN

Very happy to get on the Pendlebury train. He usually dominates Adelaide, West Coast and St Kilda who are his next 3.

    Matt · 13/05/2014 at 13:08

BE 163 could you hold off for another week of two?

      Garglesnarf FC · 13/05/2014 at 13:42

He could hit that this week!

        Matt · 13/05/2014 at 13:51

He could hit that most weeks but if he hits 120 his going down about $20k then next weeks BE about 155 hits 120 again down another 15 to 20k
Its completely up to you and how your sitting. He is a lock for sure just depending how your sitting with cash if you want to hold off and hopefully save some cash ($30-40K) or bring him in now and just keep him locked.

          Garglesnarf FC · 13/05/2014 at 14:11

The Pies have the Crows, WCoast, StKilda, Melbourne and Doggies in the next 5 rounds. I would happily take the punt on him scoring 130+ this week, and go even bigger after that.

I am struggling to decide between him and Swan.

            Sarah · 13/05/2014 at 15:14

Also, I don't care if he only gets 120's and drops a little in price… I'll take the 120 points!! After all, it is a points game and Pendlebury is a SC star!!

          Sarah · 13/05/2014 at 15:15

Ask yourself this question… is it worth 20k to miss out on 120 points?? Especially this week when the alternative is 0 from Polec??!!!

            The Ranger · 13/05/2014 at 17:21

Sounds like a good plan Sarah.
I'm getting him in next week.
            This week is….
            Higgins, Polec and Ellis OUT
            Parker, Bartel and Acres IN
            Next week is….
            Thomas and Dunstan OUT
            Pendles and A.N.Other IN
            At least…that's todays plan…

              Sarah · 14/05/2014 at 07:50

              Well 'today's' plan sounds good!!

gab · 13/05/2014 at 12:08

who to trade out first flipper or dunstan?

    YourOldMan · 13/05/2014 at 13:13

Dunstan – I think Flippa will get the 12 out of his system and appreciate another $100K for you

Matthew · 13/05/2014 at 13:17

Hello community
Just wondering peoples thoughts on Matthew Lobbe
His just coming off a groin injury that kept him out of last game $430 player and someone that you should think would be getting 90+ a game
I have him and wondering if it would be worth keeping him untill the end, keeping him untill Mummy returns and trade him up or trading him now to someone like Jamar
My rucks are Lobbe Sandy Derickx and Thurlow

    Kenny Powers · 13/05/2014 at 19:33

Lobbe was left out to give him basically 3 weeks between games .. his back-up Renouf has gone under the knife so Lobbe will be The Lone Ruckman for the rest of the season.

oliverfisher · 13/05/2014 at 13:39

I have a lot of players out next week, have 18 this week and was thinking of trying to get rid of Dunstan, Laidler and Webster this week so i can look at pulling some more trades next week to get a full team. Looking to upgrade Dunstan and downgrade one defender and upgrade another. Not sure which defenders i should get in, doesn't seem to be many cheap defenders to bring in.

    oliverfisher · 13/05/2014 at 13:42

currently only about 13 players to be playing next week, maximum 15 if Sheed and O'rourke play

    Garglesnarf FC · 13/05/2014 at 13:47

Docherty is on the bubble for blues next week at $285k. Currently averaging 80.5, with good JS. If you want a left field cheapy who will at least go up by $80k, hes your man. Hurn at $420 is a monty as well, absolute bargain basement for a 90+ defender.

Garglesnarf FC · 13/05/2014 at 14:04

of interest to the community should be the following tweet;

Crows have upgraded 19yr old rookie Charlie Cameron to the senior list to replace Van Berlo. Hope he gets a run Thur against the Pies. Has played very well for the Crows reserve side.

Go Crows

Could be a rare gem FWD rookie downgrade in round 11, he is 122k.

    Sarah · 13/05/2014 at 15:17

Thanks mate! Already got my eye on him. He looks a gem!!

Neilsy · 13/05/2014 at 15:06

Thoughts on hannerbery as a premium mid in your sides at end of year?Currently punching out some good numbers?

Dan · 13/05/2014 at 15:14

Daisy gone, Dusty in = 85k…….bargain.
Plus bonus neck tattoo and crap haircut.

    Kenny Powers · 13/05/2014 at 20:01

Happy to see you getting Daisy out but Martin could be a bit risky bringing in .. hasn't been disastrous but hasn't been a shining light either. Jamie Elliot will cost more but has been very consistent, as has Parker. For about the same price there is Dalhouse or Bruest. Gunston is available for the same money as Martin but doesn't have mid DPP.

dean · 13/05/2014 at 16:36

Need some help please community.
Thomas > Pendles
Mitchel > HIbberd
Suckling > Bartel

Thomas > Sloane
Mitchell > Hibberd
Mcdonald > Bartel

MItchell > Bartel
Thomas > Acres

    Beady Eye · 13/05/2014 at 17:09

If you can get Pendles in without completely warping your team, you do it.

      dean · 13/05/2014 at 17:48

Yea, Just having another look over it, Might try and do Mitchel > Bartel, Thomas to Pendles and then Mcdonald to Acres via DPP of bartel, Will leave me with $400k still in the chest for next week.

    chandanrajdb · 13/05/2014 at 18:40

Thomas to Pendles, Mitchell to Bartel & McDonald to Acres (if you have the DPP in your mid)….I reckon will be an excellent trade in your case this week……

Ollie · 13/05/2014 at 16:44

Laidler or Mcdonald? bringing in bartel but not sure which one to trade out.

who should i keep? thanks

    dean · 13/05/2014 at 17:08

Get rid of Mcdonald In my opinion

    Kenny Powers · 13/05/2014 at 20:24

McDonald has the potential to score you more points but is going to be losing cash. Laidler will maintain his price but might not score as well. Reckon everyone that doesn't have Bartel is bringing him in this week – including me!

    GarglesnarfFC · 13/05/2014 at 20:35

McDonald has had his bye, and the low score drops in two weeks. Laidler is just an average player scoring that average, and he won't go anywhere, dump him. Re-assess Macca in two weeks.

Ross · 13/05/2014 at 17:01

Greetings Community. Looking for a little advice, I have Garry Rohan on the bench in the fwds I have $245,000 with him up for sale. Can any give me a suitable replacement. It would appear that I have more chance of playing for Sydney than he does!

    Beady Eye · 13/05/2014 at 17:20

Ambrose has only risen to about $150K, so still a worthwhile downgrade.

      Captain joc · 13/05/2014 at 17:53

He was man of the match in the 2s I think could get a recall

    Kenny Powers · 13/05/2014 at 20:34

Charlie Cameron will more than likely be getting a game for Adelaide this week. Sounds like the coach thinks he is a vital component to a fully functional Crow's forward line .. applies good defensive pressure when he doesn't have the ball, is a good crummer and kicks goals – just what they need as he (the coach) alluded to a 3 big man set-up.

TigerTuff · 13/05/2014 at 17:19

Is it worth getting Ryan Griffen after the bye? Or are there better options with him fighting for points with Libba and Boyd. Currently $498k

    TigerTuff · 13/05/2014 at 17:21

    Already have Jobe

    Tom.H · 13/05/2014 at 17:58

Don't get Griffin. I would get Libba, then Fyfe, then Selwood, then Sloane, then Stevie J before considering Griffin

      Tom.H · 13/05/2014 at 17:58

      Considering your money, Goddard?

    Kenny Powers · 13/05/2014 at 20:35

who are you looking to trade for him?

Jack · 13/05/2014 at 18:05

Thoughts Community

Out Mcdonald, In Aylett = Cash Generated
Out Thomas, In Bartel = Premo/Swing With Backline
Out Polac, In Acres = Cash Generated For Next Lot Of Byes Approx 400,000K

Thomas · 13/05/2014 at 18:29

Are these trades worth it?
Daniher down to Lloyd,
Tyson up to Swan
Tom Mitchell down to acres for 450k in the bank which will be useful come next week

    Browncow · 14/05/2014 at 01:33

Hang on to Tyson for another week Thomas and pocket 30 – 40K next week. Should have another rookie for the swan upgrade – polec, Kelly, Cunningham etc. Lloyd ok but plenty of cheap forwards around to upgrade Daniher next week with your acres/Mitchell $$

Thomas · 13/05/2014 at 18:30

Hey guys,

So last week I seeked some help from this fantastic community. My situation was sitting in 14th spot with only one league win, and needing to get my team kick-started on a run of some sort! Well thanks to this community I won my second match! Woo hoo, now we move onto this weekend, and once again I need your help! Here's my team:

Def: Swallow, Langdon, Kolodjashniz, McDonald, Webster, Birchall (Cutler, Georgiou)

Mid: Ablett, Watson, Beams, Cotchin, Murphy, D. Thomas, Polec, Griffen, (Kelly, Robertson)

Ruck: Cox, Nic Nat (Currie, King)

Forward: Dangerfield, Zorko, Martin, Roughead, Fasolo, Higgins (JKH, Ambrose)

Okay, so what trades should I do now ! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks heaps guys!

    Antonio · 13/05/2014 at 19:16

Oh I forgot to mention I’ve got $179,300 in the war chest.

    Kenny Powers · 13/05/2014 at 21:11

How about McDonald up to Hurn, Daisy Thomas up to Sloane and Kelly down to Acres. This will leave you with $162,000 for future trades. Or Bartel instead of Hurn and Goddard instead of Sloane .. $65,000 dosh remaining

      Neilsy · 13/05/2014 at 23:43

Hurn at that price is the bargain of the year, suckling or jaensh I will be trading for

Matt Crouch out for Stevie J

Luke McDonald out for Jayden Hunt DPP (who will just sit on my bench)

Jared Polec out for Jimmy Bartel allowing me to swing Bartel in defence and Jayden Hunt on to my bench…

Then swapping Mitch Honey Church back into Forward bench and chucking Chad Wingard into the midfield..

Have no idea if I am crazy or a genius.

Please let me know Cheers Ty

Pat · 13/05/2014 at 19:35

hey guys, im struggling atm, im not sure who to trade out and am seeking help !!!
the guys i would like to trade out are: Pyke, Webster, Suckling, Dunstan, Polec
I have 420k in the bank but i want to get Acres in my side – is he a must?
Would love some advice please

    Captain joc · 13/05/2014 at 19:56

    Suckling to bartel
    Pyke to Jacobs
    Dunstan to acres

      Pat · 13/05/2014 at 20:01

      cheers CJ
What do you reckon of Pyke > Goldy? A bit cheaper is all??

Tom · 13/05/2014 at 19:56

I am considering

Murphy > cotchin

Polec > bartell

Michie > acres

I think Murphy is already at his peak and cotchin is going to get better so it is at least a break even if not an improvement and it allows me to bring in bartell for polec. Plan to swing bartell to def and bring in Jelwood for Langdon in a couple of weeks when jelwood bottoms out and langdon hits his peak.

Any thoughts?

    SCaddict · 13/05/2014 at 20:01

The last two trades look fine but would keep Smurph. He's performed beyond expectation and can see no reason why this would drop off. Is there another trade that could help you bring in Bartel this week?

I like your plans on how to get Jelwood into your team.

    tyzsb · 13/05/2014 at 20:03

The Murphy > cotchin trade seems pointless HOLD

    Josh · 13/05/2014 at 20:04

Murphy to Cotchin is a waste of a trade in my opinion, they both will have a similar output.

$179,300 in war chest

    Sarah · 14/05/2014 at 08:23

    Hi Antonio,

I'd probably look at the following:

    Thomas down to Acres
    Webster or McDonald to Bartel
Then I'd use the left over money to turn Polec into someone like Stevie J, Joel Selwood or Fyfe (I know Fyfe hasn't had the bye yet but he's a gun and you don't seem to have many round 10 bye players so he'll be covered. Long term, he'll be gold!)

Just my thoughts, but you should try to get two guns in this week. You're defence is looking a little weak so I'd make at least one of your upgrade trades a defender and Bartel is one of the best.

    Good Luck.

Josh · 13/05/2014 at 20:07

Any idea when Mumford will be back? I still have him sitting on the bench, hoping he will be back after the bye.

    SCaddict · 13/05/2014 at 20:46

I'd expect him to be back for Rd10 but wouldn't put my house on it. GWS has been a little coy on the issue from the get go so who knows what the real story is.

Been a Swans supporter I've certainly had my share of frustration over Mummy's injuries that can seem to drag on. Was probably a consideration along with the salary cap squeeze in the Swans not moving heaven and earth to try and keep him. Durability has always been an issue unfortunately.

Would keep an eye on the Giants website to see if there are any status updates during the week.

      GarglesnarfFC · 14/05/2014 at 06:30

Leon Cameron said that he could have played against West Coast, but wanted him to have two more weeks. He is expected back in Rnd 10.

Captain joc · 13/05/2014 at 20:22

My side is

Def: swallow, mcveigh, jaensch, walker, Langdon, Langford (cutler, georgiou)

Mid: Ablett, pendlebury, beams, liberatore, Watson, fyfe, polec, crouch (Robertson, Taylor)

Ruck: Sandilands, pyke( currie, king)

Fwd:rioli, dangerfield, Parker, Martin, zorko, higgins( JKH, Ambrose )

Got 16 trades and 220k left

I was thinking of trading

Pyke to Jacobs

Rioli to bartel via dpp of Taylor and Langdon

Injured players: jaensch( chance he could play this week) pyke, rioli

What’s the community thoughts any other ideas?

    dognino · 13/05/2014 at 20:42

Can't go wrong with bartel I reckon. I think fwd line is your only chance to upgrade at the moment, but all the best options still have a bye to come .

I'm still stuck with pyke too. Thinking about holding him for 1 more week as I have 20 scoring players this week. If he is still injured , or plays but scores less than 90 I am trading him next week to either sauce,Minson, goldy, depending on my cash situation.

      SCaddict · 13/05/2014 at 21:00

Yeah Horse has definitely ruled him out for this week so we should see him return for Rd11 against the Cats.

    Kenny Powers · 13/05/2014 at 21:18

Don't think Jaensch will be back this week

      Captain joc · 13/05/2014 at 21:58

Even if he is not back this week I am happy to hold him as I’ve got 19 playing this week with no trades and only got 14 next week so might have to make some trades
Yeah as all the decent forwards have byes I’m looking and rioli to bartel and don’t want to trade any of my rookies yet as they have low B/Es

        Sarah · 14/05/2014 at 08:29

You might want to give some thought to cashing in Polec to Acres this week. He's on the bubble and will give you cash to do those forward upgrades next week when the round 9 bye players come back.

          Captain joc · 14/05/2014 at 13:13

Yeah but I don’t have anyone to be culled polec still has money to make

            Sarah · 14/05/2014 at 13:26

Ultimately that's your call. But assuming he keeps scoring 100's, SC Gold estimates he'll only make another $50 by years end. Whereas Acres will make $50k next week.

          Captain joc · 14/05/2014 at 14:56

Yeah but also means I will be trading out a r9 bye for r10 bye which I already have 13 r10 bye players alone with 1 player not getting named and then a couple of injuries

Osh · 13/05/2014 at 21:03

    Pat · 13/05/2014 at 21:18

TOTW R8 · 13/05/2014 at 21:48

Hi community, Michael here. For those of you that saw my article last week, I've developed a bit of a "team of the week" or TOTW as above – I have copied the article into the 1st reply here. Given the bye period there's gonna be some new faces weekly over the next 3 weeks and the current TOTY (team of the year) will chop around a little over the period. However it might unearth a nice little POD that you haven't seen before that might just get you over the line in some league games, and for those of us pushing for $50K still it may turn out to be the ultimate POD! I've also added current price and BE to make it a little easier as well hopefully.

DEF: Simpson ($531.2K, 65), McVeigh ($572.1K, 78), Hooker ($472.6K, 73), Hurn ($412.3K, 50), Docherty ($285K, 10), Duryea ($342K, 54), Trengove ($352K, 37), Johnson ($496.7K, 100)

MID: Libba ($563.9K, 29), Hanners ($566.2K, 58), Jobe ($532.8K, 82), JPK ($610.9K, 84), Gibbs ($532K, 80), Fyfe ($601K, 108), Tyson ($398.2K, -9), Rocky ($586K, 87), Heppell ($518.7K, 84), Ward ($540.4K, 57)

RUC: Ryder ($524.3K, 57), Sandy ($513.3K, 70), Minson ($501.6K, 90), Cox ($478.8K, 103)

FWD: JJK ($402.5K, -5), Yarran ($394.6K, 66), Gray ($541.9K, 79), LeCras ($419.4K, 114), Schneider ($333.7K, 68), Crameri ($397K, 77), Parker ($516.4K, 101), Jetta ($393.4K, 17)

DEF: McVeigh ($572.1K, 78), Simpson ($531.2K, 65), Burgoyne ($502.6K, 81), Hooker ($472.6K, 73), Hibberd ($525.3K, 135), Johnson ($496.7K, 100), Malceski ($503.9K, 111), Swallow ($506.2K, 114)

MID: GAJ ($740.6K, 159), JPK ($610.9K, 84), Boyd ($611.9K, 162), Libba ($563.9K, 29), Pendles ($645.3K, 162), Murph ($517K, 135), Jobe ($532.8K, 82), Ward ($540.4K, 57), SJ ($633.1K, 136), Jones ($534.8K, 151)

RUC: Sandy ($513.3K, 70), Minson ($501.6K, 90), Cox ($478.8K, 103), Jacobs ($511.8K, 100)

FWD: Gray ($541.9K, 79), Parker ($516.4K, 101), Breust ($465.4K, 71), Danger ($617.9K, 139), Zorko ($453.9K, 121), Riewoldt ($435.2K, 158), Roughy ($451.2K, 44), Gunston ($468.2K, 142)

Again, feedback would be great, love to hear if interested in keeping this going!

    Michael · 13/05/2014 at 21:48

I've developed a slightly different weekly "top 10" – I've done a spreadsheet of top performers per position each week based on a SC team of 8 x DEF, 10 x MID, 4 x RUC, 8 x FWD.

For example, this week's "team of the week" (or TOTW as I like to call it) is:

DEF: Gibson (HAW) / Smith (ADE) / McVeigh / Fletcher / Burgoyne / Langdon / Bartel / Hansen
    MID: Ward / Montagna / GAJ / Polec / Libber / SJ / Jack / Rocky / JPK / Beams
RUC: Jamar / Jacobs / Sandy / Ryder
FWD: Breust / Roughy / Higgins / Dahlhaus / Lynch (GCS) / Dawes / Elliott / Gray (PTA)

(By the way, having this team with the highest scorer (Ward) captain would have gotten you a total weekly score of 3095!)

I then collate the number of times a player has been in TOTW across the season.

    DEF: Bartel (3 times), Smith (3), Swallow (2), Hanley (2), Birchall (2), SMitch (2), Hooker (2), Jaensch (2), Hibberd (2), Gibson (2), McVeigh (2), Burgoyne (2), Langdon (2)
    MID: GAJ (7), SJ (4), Montagna (3), Murph (3), Dal Santo (3), Sidebottom (3), Jones (3)
    RUC: Jacobs (5), Sandy (4), Cox (3), Mumford (3), Warnock (2)
    FWD: Breust (3), Elliott (3), Zorko (3), Riewoldt (3), Westhoff (2), Hawkins (2), Pav (2), Danger (2), Harvey (2), Dahlhaus (2), Roughy (2), Gray (PTA) (2)

This will hopefully highlight all the players that "go big" across the season on a consistent basis – ideal captain and VC territory!

      Faz · 13/05/2014 at 22:21

      just stop

        Michael · 13/05/2014 at 22:33

Geez tough crowd, difficult week Faz?
Maybe I'll stop when I get a few more requests to stop that are actually constructive?
Appreciate your opinion nonetheless Faz, especially as it must be difficult for you to type so many words…

      jockreynolds · 14/05/2014 at 21:33

Bloody hell Michael – this is fantastic stuff mate!! Look forward to watching this one pan out

    Aaron · 13/05/2014 at 22:37

    Dude that's awesome

      Michael · 13/05/2014 at 22:45

Thanks mate, glad you appreciate it!

    GarglesnarfFC · 14/05/2014 at 06:28

That is seriously interesting stuff! No Bartel, but Freos Johnson is up there and 50k cheaper and get Freos soft run post bye. Hmmmm

    Sarah · 14/05/2014 at 08:38

    Gold Michael!!

Don't you dare stop. If people don't like it, then they shouldn't read it. I'll bet you anything they still read it and take some advice from it.

      Michael · 14/05/2014 at 15:23

See, it's people like yourself Sarah that make this community what it is – bloody top stuff!

TigerTuff · 13/05/2014 at 21:56

Worthwhile trading JKH before next weeks bye? I reckon he has some cash generation left in him after averaging 80-odd the last 3 weeks. Thoughts?

    Rocksta · 13/05/2014 at 22:35

He's still got a negative BE.
Thus, you should still be able to make $50 K off him

      TigerTuff · 13/05/2014 at 22:38

      Cheers Rocksta

    GarglesnarfFC · 14/05/2014 at 06:22

His 112 stays in after round 9, but drops out in round 11 meaning his BE will be 80-90, I will likely trade him out next week.

Nic · 13/05/2014 at 21:56

how many trades has everyone one got after they have made their trades this week. ive got 15 just wondering if thats fine or should I slow down a bit

    Rocksta · 13/05/2014 at 22:42

    Slow down.
I've got 17 after making 2 trades this week, and will only make 1 trade next week, leaving me with 16 after byes.

    Bob McBob · 13/05/2014 at 22:42

Might as well try get a full premo team ASAP. im in the same boat as you. Have had injuries pretty much all year (8 trades to remove injured players) then I had jasper pittard as well..

Ty_ · 13/05/2014 at 22:06

Would love thoughts on my trades Cheers..

    Donavan · 13/05/2014 at 23:01

    Looks good.

Any trade that gains 2 premiums by downgrading 3 rookies is moving in the right direction.

Donavan · 13/05/2014 at 22:55

Just wondering how I am going in terms on building a team of premiums,as opposed to others-

Before trading this week, I have-
– 14 premiums
– 10 cows still fattening-up
– 4 cows ready for trading
– 2 players that havent played yet (good for loop-holes)

I have 20 trades left, and an empty warchest.

How are others doing?

    Derek · 14/05/2014 at 00:02

Trade my ass off, bang bang bang until I have full premium team ASAP. Welcome

    Sarah · 14/05/2014 at 08:42

    I have 16 Premo's. Trade ass off!!!

Michael · 13/05/2014 at 23:26

Trades this week:

Higgins – Acres
Suckling – Bartel
Pyke – Jacobs

DEF; McVeigh, Hibberd, Swallow, Bartel, Langdon, Enright, Cameron, Shoenmakers
MID: GAJ, JPK, Pendles, Beams, Fyfe, Robertson, Hallahan, Acres, Murph, Polec,
RUC: Sandy, Jacobs, Derickx, King
FWD: Zorko, Pav, Dusty, JKH, Taylor, Lloyd, Danger, Ambrose

What do you guys think? Have $109K left + 13 trades, currently ranked in the 8,000's.
Next week a worry with 14 out + Cameron no certainty. Want to move the Brizzy boys Taylor & Robertson on but very little in the way of rookies available then apart from Hartung or Shenton from Saints.

Nick · 14/05/2014 at 07:44

Joel selwood or Steve Johnson
Who do you think will average more.

    Sarah · 14/05/2014 at 08:43

Selwood. Although Stevie J is more fun to watch!!

bazza · 14/05/2014 at 17:46

Get on miles if hes named

    bazza · 14/05/2014 at 17:47

and a close look at lennon

Ben · 14/05/2014 at 17:53

Hi guys would just like to know the communities thoughts for couple trades I have plan for this week

Jaensch to Bartel, I know a lot of people are bringing in Jimmy this week, any pod that has had their bye?

Kelly to Acres for cash so I can get selwood next week, good idea or should I hold on to kelly for a couple more weeks.

Thanks guys I'd love any feedback

    Captain joc · 14/05/2014 at 20:01

    Jaensch is playing?

      Ben · 15/05/2014 at 14:59

Yeah I know he is playing, but his break even is huge it's like 160

Kris · 14/05/2014 at 22:37

Surprisingly not much trade chat about Salem as a good cash cow.
Am I not seeing something – he looks the goods. IF he doesn't get the vest

    Kris · 14/05/2014 at 22:39

Or is it just everyone is more interested in Acres – since 50k less and is playing full games

    Cameron · 15/05/2014 at 18:38

Could be another JKH, might get on when Roos debuts another mid

Mitch · 15/05/2014 at 09:54

Alright community I need your help
In the next couple weeks I’m wanting full premium midfield. So far I have Ablett, pendles, beams, Murphy, fyfe, polec, j.kelly,m,crouch with l.taylor and acres as subs

I’m looking to trade Kelly out this week
Upgrade polec and crouch week after
I have 500k in the bank

Kelly this week for swan? Is it too risky to have 3 collingwood mids
Selwood week after his price drop and then out or Stevie j, hanners,Indy, Barlow

Thanks guys

matthewjsampson · 15/05/2014 at 14:01

G'Day community,

I've got two trade scenarios in mind for this week:

A: Fasolo > Acres (via Zorko DDP), McDonald > Bartel & Webster > J. Tippett. Leaves me $356,600 for next week, but risks losing out on Fasolo's price jumping more.
B: Impey > Acres(via Zorko DDP), McDonald > Bartel & Webster > J. Tippett. Leaves me $173,100 for next week.

Bartel would bring me to 16 premos, with Langdon, Polec, Cutler, Flipper, JKH and Taylor to upgrade.
