Supercoach 2014 preseason podcast

How good’s this!

The NAB Challenge is on like Donkey Kong and our preseason Supercoach, AFL Fantasy and Real Dreamteam research has kicked right into gear.

To say we have a lot to get through in this podcast is a hell of an understatement. Rookies have been unearthed. Some break out types are starting to suck a few of us in.

Enjoy this our most significant podcast of the preseason so far. Remember – if you’ve got the iTunes you can subscribe on iTunes as well. Otherwise if you could jump on there and give us a rating that would be top notch.

can someone please help me understand why Clancee Pearce's average dropped from his 2012 average and do we think it can return to an average of 90 plus

    • Harry says:

Don't think he's fantasy relevant. Certainly a point of difference, but so is Ricky Petterd if you catch my drift.

    • yurkins says:

Carried injury in 2013 for some of the year and think he had a change in role as well. Wait and see his 2014.

  4. neil the nail says:

    defintely ziebell over murphy

    • Michael says:

Murph proven elite vs Ziebell yet to make the jump + $15K more expensive…. I know who I'll have…

  5. Tim says:

Ziebell (annoyed thought he'd be my pod)

    (Kersten, Taylor) thoughts

  6. cezza says:

Wright’s game? Looks to me llike a one off what do you think. Surely to old to breakout

  7. Joe says:

Jock, what do you think of being a bit more authorative with the comments? On every section, there are people posting their entire teams, which clogs up the conversation a bit. Thanks mate

    • SCannonymous says:

I agree Joe. Someone had to say it.

    • Callum says:

Yeah agree. It's fine to post teams, but there's an article that is meant for that, this article is meant for discussion of players and thoughts about them as well. Also discussion about trades and etc

    • Sugar says:

Hey boys, scroll past it, and stop bloody moaning…

      • Derek says:

I don't mind seeing other peoples teams. Every now and then someone will have a POD player in their team who I hadn't thought of and it goes on the watchlist. I know my team will change a lot in the last 24 hours depending on Round 1 teams.

      • Joe says:

It's constructive criticism, not moaning. I love this site because of the 'community' vibe, it's amazing how Jock has fostered this whilst other pages have not (COUGH COUGH supercoach paige COUGH COUGH)

But I want to hear the communities thoughts on Ziebell, Murphy and other things mentioned in this podcast, and it gets difficult to do this when people post teams up. All I ask is that the moderator moderates. Have a nice day.

    • taylorwoof says:

      Spot on Joe!

I couldn't agree more mate. I started giving all posted teams in the incorrect forums a 'thumbs down'.

  8. SCannonymous says:

Great discussion again – the NAB homework sheets and reviews are fantastic.
I agree with Higgo – don't rule out Bell, he will play.
Crouching – My ugg boots tell me the same thing about Dustin Martin – approach with caution.
Ellis is the big interest for me in WCE V Freo.

    • SCaddict says:

Yes I will be keen to see how Ellis, Sheed and Yeo fit into Simmo's game plan. The Eagles are fielding a pretty strong side tomorrow too so we may be able to better gauge these new guy's roles and output than typical for a NAB 1.

Also going up against a fairly solid Freo line-up so it has the potential to be another cracking NAB game which almost sounds like an oxymoron. 🙂

      • Dee says:

Don’t know about a cracking game mate…. lol. Eagles up by 11 goals, not even half time yet. I’m liking Ellis so far tho, getting plenty of the pill and looks interesting…. No tackles tho!

  9. Jimmy says:

Given StKildas easyish start is NRoo worth the cash. Looking for an F2 to go with Danger,Parker and Dixon(DPP for when Sandilands breaks down)

  10. Derek says:

I want to understand more about Higgo's comments about Blicav.
Does he mean he will play three mid priced rucks (Say grundy, sandi, & Blicav plus Max King) and use the ruck loop-hole.
To me this seams a lot of cash on the bench.
If Higgo thinks Blicav will score well, won't you just have him in the ruck and spend the cash elsewhere.
OR you could have a FWD/RUC on bench with Vardy/Dixon/hale on forward line and use ruck loophole that way?
Higgo's brain is much larger than mine, I need to understand

    • Cezza93 says:

For me Blicavs will be a huge hit and miss. I'm a cats supporter and have had a decent look at the team this year. Think of our back line, one of the leagues finest next to Hawks and Freo. Taylor, Mackie, Longeran, Enright. Scotty has already said Thrulow will play. That's 4 tall/medium size defenders the rest of the spots i imagine will be used for small defender/backline rebound which the cats structure has thrived off. Guthrie Varcoe and Smedts all seem to be getting a run through their. Room for another tall defender i say nay.

  11. throttlefinger says:

Is any $500K+ forward worth it? Only one I can maybe make a case for is Danger. Yet even he has a slow start track record and a very tough start draw. Like Petrie but that may be more heart than sense.

So to Croching's point, how many are feeling the Buddy, Dixon and below thought?

    • Sarah says:

I'm liking the group between $430k and $460k… I think there's a few bargains at that price range in the form of Pav, Zorko, Bruest, Gunston and Zorko. That's where I'm focusing my forward line attention.

      • Sarah says:

        Oops, mentioned Zorko twice!

        • throttlefinger says:

Well, he is the magnificent one, Sarah.

Reason I ask that is for the answers you gave. Can't see justifying anyone post $500K. Right now looking at Buddy, Chappy (as quick upgrade to Danger), Gunston, Zorko, Pav, Crameri and Darling as F1-F4 options. If no rooks stand up, Tomahawk at F5 and a rook/wook at F6. Definitely the harder to plan for positions, for mine.

          • Sarah says:

I completely agree. I always hate trying to pick the forward line.
At this point in time I've gone for Danger, Roughead, Bruest, Pav, Wright, JKH, L McCarthy and M Honeychurch (although rookies will change depending on round 1 teams).

I know a lot of people think Danger will have a slow start but I tend to think the opposite. Especially with the added responsibility of the joint captaincy with Sloane… I reckon he'll relish it and get off to a huge start.

            • throttlefinger says:

I'm in the "slow start" camp regarding Danger. If he were starting with 3 other teams than Cats, PTA and Swans, I'd maybe overlook his past early scores. Think he'll do better but 120+ to maintain that price will be a hard ask. But of all my upgrades, he's the first I'm going to make. And will look to bring in Sloane past R8.

But yes, see it as a risk.

              • Chuckles says:

I'm thinking exactly the same throttle. I cant have anyone above $500 k up front! Get great value from those in the $440k – $500k mark allowing you spend a bit more elsewhere. Dusty will drop (always does) and Dangers will be an upgrade. Zorko, Buddy, Henderson, Watts and a forgotten goal machine who is $60k underpriced imo is where im looking at! Will be watching Gunston at this stage as unsure how it will pan out with buddy not there-people tending to think his scores will increase. im not 100% sold on that. Very keen on pav but injury risk??!

                • Derek says:

is anyone considering Tippet, same price as Buddy. Will Buddy take away the number 1 defender?

                • throttlefinger says:

Keen on Pav too, but reservations like yours keep him from lock. Gunston leaning towards but want to see how he does against Roos.

          • Morse says:

Throttle, have you thought about saving some cash and putting in T.Menzel, at only $231K, take out his sub affected games last year and his average was 49.50 over 5 games with 3 of those 5 being over 55. If he can get his average up to 60-70 pts p/week he will climb at least $100-$130K which would make a good trade in for a fallen premo?

Given they should win at least 5 of their first 6 games (P.A, Rich, Ess, Melb, W.B and West C) and the fact that betts is gone I think he will average at least 65 by round 7 which you could then trade up to a Danger or Clokey or Franklin who will likely drop in the first weeks.

His time on ground is reasonable, he knows where the sticks are,the kids has put on bulk and is as fit as a bloody ox and if Mick was happy to play him as a small, inexperienced kid late in the season last year, then he should be willing to continue that this year and the word is he will.

Worth a punt and I have him locked into my round 1 side.

            • throttlefinger says:

Interesting take, Morse. Will keep an eye on for sure NAB2.

            • Bender says:

Unlock him then Morse and lock in Ben Kennedy instead. He will be a better player than Menzel, will play more games and more game time than Menzel in 2014, he's 10K cheaper than Menzel, he had seven of his 12 games starting as the sub in 2013, with two of his five non sub-affected games netting him above the 75 point mark (yet to see Menzel achieve this in his 5 non sub-affected games). You must be a Carlton supporter Morse, to consider this type of madness 😉

              • WombatsFC says:

Totally agree with Bender. I'm a blues fan and before SC started this year I had Menzel penciled in to replace Eddie. After seeing the blues and pies play I reckon Kennedy is a far better option. If Menzel plays he will share time with Dylan Buckley. Buckley has a massive appetite for the contest, slick skills and blistering pace Menzel aint as good.

            • Hugh G says:

You are dreaming if you think Carlton will win 5 of their 1st 6 games.

            • SCannonymous says:

You mount a strong case there Morse – nice work.

    • taylorwoof says:

At the moment the two i'm looking at just the two players in the 500 range, Dangerfield & Roughead.

Itching to get a look at Sydney. Past few days i've been considering Tippett. Time up forward and relieving Pyke in the ruck, gives him plenty of scoring opportunities. No delayed start for him this season either.

Contemplating having F1-F4 of: Dangerfield, Roughead, Franklin & Tippett.

      • spaceman says:

tippet in melbourne seeing speacialist struggling with knee tendonightes thats what kept him out of finals last year dont know how bad though

      • throttlefinger says:

That's a strong front line, Twoof. A lot of $$ too. Not sold on Tippett. Potential all there but need to see dynamic with Buddy.

Daniher is looking like a possible FWD player. Nice price. Could give you $100K quick at his price.

        • taylorwoof says:

Just something i've been playing with, no doubt fwd line will be completely different in another day or two hahahahaha…..

          • throttlefinger says:

No kidding. Rearranged 10 times last 2 days. Uggggh. Thankfully NAB is shining a light on some of the question marks.

        • throttlefinger says:

Scratch that. I meant Hurley. Ha.

      • Michael says:

heard reports that Tippett won't start r1…

        • taylorwoof says:

Cheers Michael! I'll look for someone else now.

Tippett missing early games, just means Buddy is more of a lock then.

    • SCaddict says:

I know Dusty has his knockers both here and within the wider footy public but expect him to have a great year and post some stellar scores.

Still 50/50 on whether I will start with him, though that will probably have more to do with the rookie situation and how that works itself out by Rd1.

NRoo keeps proving his critics wrong too. Many believed he was over the hill going into last season yet he quickly became a fantastic POD for anyone who was brave enough to start with him.

That said for my own team Buddy and Dixon are near locks and it would take a fair bit in the next three weeks to dissuade me there. Also very keen to get a good look at the Eagles and Swans forwards in the $400-$500K bracket over the coming fortnight.

      • throttlefinger says:

Yeah, Darling and Parker especially keen on seeing. Tippett will have many eyes on as well. Could be a POD with instant payoff.

Buddy is a lock. Going back and forth on Dixon. Mainly if I go with Sandi, I'll back it up with Dixon.

Tiges fan so big Dusty fan. Just can't slot him in at that price. Will slot him in after Danger.

  12. taylorwoof says:

Superb Podcast again lads! Thoroughly enjoyed it!

  13. SCaddict says:

Agree with Higg that perhaps the biggest casualties of the Rd8 bye are the Kangas premium mids. Makes them very tough to squeeze any in when you're already running with 3 or 4 out of the likes of Gaz, Pendles, Swans, D.Beams, Cotch, Ellis, J.Martin et al. You know probably at least one of those Kangas mids will bolt out to elite status but which one??

Not sure where Higg gets the $80K in savings for Bell over Daisy. In reality it's only $30K which isn't a big enough difference for mind to pick him IF Daisy is Rd1 ready, as good as he looked on Saturday.

I also disagree a little with Jock's comments on Grundy. You don't need him to play out a whole season for you. He's more than likely to be a stepping stone to an elite ruck so only needs to give you 6 or 7 decent games early to generate say $100-$150K before upgrading to a Mino, Goldy or NicNat around the byes.

So in the absence of any rookie rucks announcing themselves players like Grundy, Hmac, Sandi, Hickey and even Higg's man Blicavs have tremendous fantasy relevancy this season imho.

Will be paying a lot of attention myself to the St Kilda ruck situation and how Hickey travels in the practice stuff. With the Saints soft start to the season he may be able to make a little bit of cash and then whooshka off you go son for an elite ruck thank you very much!

    • SCannonymous says:

IMHO you've made some excellent observatons here SCAdd. Grundy to Nic Nat could be a very good move.
I wonder if a North midfielder other than Harvey has ever been tagged in that last few years. I reckon Cunnington is a very good chance to hold his price and Ziebell could be 450 to 600, but I believe Ziebell will emerge for reasons much discussed (full pre-season – shed extra weight and running better – no broken leg last year). I think his style of play is not easy to tag, but it will be interesting to watch it all unfold.

  14. Lochie says:

    Great podcast Jock and co.!
Just two questions for the community. Firstly, what are peoples thoughts on Dusty?
Secondly, what strategy would work best? 6 premiums in the middle, 2 premiums in the ruck, 4 premiums in the forward line or 4 premiums down back? The rest of the spots will be filled with rookies.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. : – )

    • Dee says:

I'm tossing up between him and C. Wingard…. I'm 50/50 at the moment mate!

    • SCannonymous says:

I'v gone from a lock on Dusty to a sit and watch approach. I'm not sure about his move to the backline?

  15. Liam says:

Ricky Henderson out for most of the season with fractured leg

  16. yurkins says:

    Brilliant lads great work.

  17. Ando says:

Who's in for the better year Luke Shuey or Jack Ziebell?

    • SCaddict says:

Ziebell obviously got off to a ripping start on the weekend and is probably on more coaches radar as a result than Shuey atm. Though we should get a good look at Shuey tomorrow assuming no late withdrawls.

If forced to pick right now I'd probably choose Shuey with the Eagles easy start to the season. Could really instil plenty of confidence in the group, if they get off to a 3-0 start, and propel many of their stars towards super seasons.

A Shuey selection also avoids another problematic Rd8 bye player which Mad Mick and others have raised as an issue that we need to bear in mind when putting together sides this season.

But I'll definitely reserve the right to change my mind on this one as Ziebell is an enticing proposition for sure and if he continues pumping out 120 plus scores in the pre-season he will be very hard to overlook.

  18. McClungeMagnet says:

Ricky Henderson Broken Leg, been pretty much a lock since the end of last year. Pretty much have to make a new team.

    • Cam_H says:

Seriously looking at Sam Kerridge(again) …. was going to be Van Berlo's replacement … now both Van Berlo's and Henderson's replacement! Still … if a tagger … only so-so for SuperCoach purposes. Hmmmmmm.

    • SCaddict says:

Yes wise words indeed from the FoF. Selecting fallen premiums rather than trying to guess right on breakout players is where the smart money will be spent this season.

    • SCannonymous says:

Jock I knew Higgo had a few papers published in Scientific FF Journals, but indeed you have completed a nice analysis on the virtues of taking the fallen premium.
I'm looking forward to The Crouching One completing his thesis on: Unlocking The FF Wisdom of One's Footwear.

  19. Callum says:

Had a thought of leaving out danger for first few rounds until he really hits the ground running, but need someone to get to about 500k. I was thinking chapman( very risky but if he string a couple games together could be a nice cash cow and pod) or Luke Parker as he plays Gwalior round 1 which would lowere his breakeven. Anyone else who could fill that void, I already have zorko and franklin and dicon(though his form tonight is making me think different) in that price region. Would also like to hear if 1.I should bring danger in( assuming good form) after his bye from mid pricer 2. Get him after bye for rookie 3. Get him before bye or 4. Scrap all this and lock him in at the start. He does have a habbit of starting slow. Would love to hear thoughts from the community.

    • Callum says:

Where I have said Gwalior I mean gws, iphone autocorrect is very annoying

    • Derek says:

I have decided to keep danger but dump pendlbury. Based purely on their first 8 weeks

      • Dee says:

Mate you have done exactly what I’ve done….. Hopefully Pendles doesn’t pump out scores of 150+, Be good if he’s price drops by round 8 for an easy upgrade come round 9. I got a feeling we gonna miss out on some good scores from him tho from round 1-7….. It’s so tempting just to Chuck him on the team tho!!

        • Dee says:

Doing my bloody head in I tell ya…. Leave him out or keep him in!! Aarrggghhhhhh….. Yup, SUPERCOACH is back….

  20. chris says:

need some help jock.. its about rucks. got stuck last year with the bloody sauce all year, dont want the same mistake to occur..

    i have gone
    goldstein as ruck 1
    apeness as ruck 3
    nankervis as ruck 4

i need a good ruck 2 and am tossing up between lobbe/grundy, both of whom i think will have breakout years.
i want the extra cash around and have lobbe in the side atm, so was thinking i might change. thoughts?

Also, what is a good amount of salary to have in the bank prior to round 1.
    im thinking 100k?

    • Dustin says:

Hard to see Grundy 'breaking out' after only played 7 games but miracles can happen. If you have enough money for lobbe, i rekn ryder will be a better option. Take out apeness and put in a dpp ruck player such as thurlow (it might come in handy). A ruck combination of Goldy and Ryder is very strong!

      • Callum says:

apeness is a dpp player who should play, so is thurlow but i dont see him getting as many games

        • Dustin says:

Sorry callum, I forgot about apeness being a dpp. Do you rekn he will get much game time if sandi will play and zac clarke and griffin will be back. Not sure on how long clarke and griffin will be out but if they are back he will be lower down the pecking order. As for Thurlow, there is a strong chance he will be in the side come r1 if they decide to go with the usual 2 ruck combination (don't worry about daniher cause he won't be leaving the fwd line). Bellchambers is place on the long term injury list and alex brown will be also with the apparent knee injury so that leaves thurlow a good chance to be elevated to senior list.

  21. Callum says:

Hey there community, would like to hear some thoughts on whether to or not to have a donut as r4. If I was to who would I chose from between M King(melbourne player plenty of Sunday games) or a little more expensive but with a dpp, Ben Brown(Also lots of Sunday games and I think currie will get games before he does). This strategy would only be until the bye rounds most likely, and after that the chances are is that there will someone in my team who's being rested or 1 game injury. So would love to hear whether this would be a good idea or not

    • yurkins says:

Hey Callum, plenty of teams run a R4 as a zeroplayer for the full season. Not only does it help in the Captain loophole but its hard to take advantage of both ruck rookies in one season especially if you load rookies/wookies in other spots (e.g. Mids) So maybe best to pick the cheapest with DPP Id suggest.

  22. cam says:

Great podcast again fellas, thanks for playing my question.
I didnt think too much about norths r8 bye.
Makes it pretty hard choice in the guts.
I might drop Pendles until after the bye, also thinking of not picking up both J and D Martin, could save 200K without those two.
R1 is a tough choice, could be Lobbe, McEvoy, Goldy or cheaper options such as a Grundy, Sandi or Hmac.
Also rumours of a late start for Lionburger, Trent West anyone?????

    • PJ8 says:

No risk in the ruck for me. No injury prone rucks (Sandi, HMac) no Grundy who hasn't even played 10 games yet.

Going with Goldstein – proven 100 point player, should be sole ruckman every week for the roo's. Although there was talk over the weekend that Brad Scott was looking at playing 2 rucks this season, I don't think they will (well hoping more than anything).

And Lobbe – breakout contender who avg 105 in the last part of last season, should also be sole ruckman for the power.

I haven't heard much out of the lion camp cam.

    • jockreynolds says:

Loved the question Cam! I'm starting to come around to McEvoy in the ruck

  23. chris says:

Hey jock and others, want some opinions on my team, note i still have 100K in the kitty. here is a screenshot of my team, easier than writing out every player

    • Duncan says:

Nice looking tam but try to use Mitchell In Back Zorko up forward and Danger up forward Just because the reason it is a wast of a DPP

  24. Jimmy says:

Now that Bock is unlikely to play until R3 or 4 would Lamb or Menzel be good additions the FWD line

  25. Dools says:

    WOhoo ,,WhaAAAASkkkaaaaaaaaaa! ‘

Juzzy. That is very much appreciated mate I can assure you. Thanks for posting mate and look forward to seeing you in here more.
"forget about bills/ work/ tax/ etc, etc" Love it mate. Heart is warm.

      • @PeterHiggo says:

        Agreed Jock – Heart warming!
        Thanks very much Juzzy.

Just a sneaky poll – thumb up to get Wayno in the studio next week.

        • NutSack says:

Couldnt second Juzzy anymore than to say I third that! And gave a thumbs up too for Wayno to get in the bungalow- thats if you can drag the young fella away from smokin' his rims up.

All class this place and many laughs aswell as taking the stress away from all other problems. Cant help pi55ing myself laughing when I hear the sniggering from you boys in the background when Wayno's giving his advice- especially love the attempts to hide the laughs on the Broomhead podcast sweeping out the changerooms! I dont think young Wayno realises how funny he is!!

          Cheers fellas.

PS Saw tonight that big Cox is still pumping hard- never ignore the ol' fella. Also heard big Cox could be the reason why NicNat is struggling inthe ole groin department. Kepp rockin boys!!!

          • throttlefinger says:

Noticed that too, NutSack. Has a lot of fire left in the belly. Price is bit high yet could be a difference making POD.

            • Wattsie says:

I had Cox all last year and he didn't disappoint. He's on the watchlist ATM.

              • throttlefinger says:

Had him too, Wattsie. Was tried and true. Had Swanny as well. Could these old-timers be fitted in? Right now leaning toward them as upgrade options. More Swanny than Cox ATM.

                • Wattsie says:

I upgraded to Swan mid year last year and it was a great move (if I do say so myself lol) I think he came back after his injury in the second half of the year and killed it.

                  • WombatsFC says:

Yeah that was a good trade and this year should be the same. This year he had surgery on his wrist during pre-season which has stopped him doing any upper body strength work and as a consequence he has lost a LOT of weight!
Will this mean he is a lot faster? or will it mean he isn't as strong in the contest? Good call to leave him out at the start.

    • throttlefinger says:

      Well said, Juzzy.

  27. Sulzeer says:

Anyone looking at not starting with GAJ? 2nd game in Freo..

    • throttlefinger says:

Hey Sulzeer. Considered it for about a day. Then woke up. Suns are a team with a stout midfield so he won't be the only focus. Will still work magic. Like Pendles, is in class by himself. Will rarely, if ever, let you down. Most players can't make that claim. Slot him in.

      • Wattsie says:

Agree TF. Gaz is different class. Scored 137 against them last year. I caveat that by saying it was at Metricon and his past trips to Subi oval haven' been great by his standards. Still he's a lock and leave for me.

    • Derek says:

I considered it for a couple of minutes. At moment I’m going to leave pendlbury out until after COL bye. COL have tough games before bye and easy after.

  28. Wattsie says:

Just listened to the podcast, quality as usual. Got me thinking of T Cloke now with a view to an upgrade later in the year.

A real buzz hearing the shout out to the donors. Classy touch.

    • NutSack says:

Indeed- not only will Cloke not give away free kicks (losing points) with the new rule he will actually get more cracks at goal so the bonus could be twofold. That said- he just cant kick! Still, he is always around the mark so it would be awesome if some mathematician type (like Higgo) could figure how many points Cloke gave away last year without the new current rule, and then guesstimate how many extra shots he may have had at goal- say about 50% of the frees he was pinged for.

So that would mean last year he would NOT have had points taken away for frees against and then assuming 50% of those non frees were points on goal (+4 points) it would be nice to see what the guesstimate is!!!

      • Wattsie says:

Well, he had 20 free kicks against last year (just under 1 a game) If 50% of those frees were for wrestling that would mean he'd have 40 points more. If he took a mark each of those times, he'd get 80 more points. If he then kicked at a 50% accuracy he'd get 40 more points for goals and 5 more points for behinds. Giving him a total of 165 points more or an increase of 7.8 points a game lifting his 2013 avg to 103.

  29. michael says:

    rate my team please
trying something different compared to the rest by going normal defence huge midfield and mid priced forwards
mitchell, enright, hurt, r shaw, KK, l mcdonald (cutler, fuller)
ablett, jack, zieball, murphy, beams, jones, cotchin, ellis (o rouke, garlett)
    grundy, longer/hickey (apeness , nan)
franklin, josh kennedy, gunston, caddy, tex (if he plays round 1) jay kennedy harris (honeychurch , taylor)
input would be appreciated worth trying something different??

    • Remy says:

Nice team there, Michael. Although, in my opinion I think you could replace J. Kennedy with someone like a Zorko for roughly the same price.

  30. Remy says:

Xavier Ellis? 21 touches last night in first game for Eagles, looked good.

    • Wattsie says:

Agreed. I was at Joondalup and his movement away from the ball looked great. I've got him on the watch list. He'll probably come in at the expense of either j martin of sheed

  31. simmo3 says:

I love supercoach but hate it so much lol.. dunno how many times my team has changed, have a look and let me know thoughts. I know im a bit thin in the fwd line, considering dropping a prem mid (JPK or Murph) for a martin/roughead/pav.

McVeigh, hibberd, hanley, swallow, suckling, McDonald (Fuller Langdon)

Ablett, Pendles, JPK, Muprhy, Beams, Thomas, Michie, Ellis (Dunstan Crouch)

    Lobbe, Sandilands (Thurlow Nankervis)

Dangerfield, Franklin, Zorko, Higgins, Billings, Gartlett (Kennedy Harris, Honeychurch)

  32. shane says:

Happy to get some feedback on my team. Might need to tinker with it to reduce the number of donuts come the bye rounds

Mitchell (haw), Shaw (gws), hanley (bris), suckling (haw), Mcdonald (kang), cutler (bris)
    bench: Fuller (dogs), Georgiou (melb)

Ablett (gc), Pendlebury (coll), Ziebell (kang), Beams (coll), Parker (syd), Martin (gc), Michie (melb), Ellis (wc)
    bench: aish (bris), Sheed (wc)

    Grundy (coll), Sandiland (freo)
    bench: Longer (stk), Nankervis (Syd)

Dangerfield (adel), Martin (rich), Roughead (haw), Franklin (haw), Rohan (syd), Taylor (bris)
    Bench: Garlett (haw), Kennedy-Harris (melb)

    • Jimmy says:

Not bad looking. I would use Parker in the FWD line, rucks could be a weak point maybe a premo and Grundy or Sandi. Garlett is missing again from NAB squad and I think there are is more value about than Martin and Aish.

  33. hazzy says:

Hey guys. need some advice please. im on the afl dreamteam one (incase that makes a difference) and i have finished my team with 644k left in the bank.. (thinking ill be able to upgrade easily once i find out who is playing and not playing in my team (rookie wise)… understandable tactic? or should i use all my money?

  34. Billy says:

If anyone wants they can join ,my supercoach league. I really want to play against good players so that this year will be a challenge for me but also fun. Here is the code 714873

  35. Cutto says:

Another brilliantly insightful podcast boys, $8 for a beer, are those blokes serious?

  36. chrissovan says:

what do people think of jack gunston? killed it in the last 4 games of 2013. accurate and more space for him in forward.

    • cyril is the man says:

I would say no to gunstan, he will get more of the footy but buddy wont b there get the best defender

  39. cyril is the man says:

Forwards Buddy, Martin, Caddy, Billings, Rohan, Honeychurch ( L.Tayler, Kennedy-Harris)

    • cyril is the man says:

also what do people think of Hawkins? if his back comes good, his price could go up pretty quickly

    • friar22 says:

I have longer in ruck too but think maybe hickey will play more.
Also I keep hearing around town that polec is lazy, but maybe hinkley can get him going.
      Looking good though

  40. Friar22 says:

Here's my team so far. $171,600 left. Plenty to work with.

DEF: d swallow, Newman, suckling, schofield, McDonald, LRT, georgiou, fuller.

    • cyril is the man says:

good to see you picking a lot of players not in the majority of peoples team there.

I don't like Grundy, Chapman, and Newman. Ziebell was ordiary against the hawks in patches too. I'm not sure about norths mids
