Barron Von Crow’s been to see the Port v Crows game and his worksheet is here:

Barron Von Crow

What key points did you take out of today’s game?

Swans · 16/02/2014 at 09:26

Only Looking at Impey and crouch this game

    throttlefinger · 16/02/2014 at 10:30

Those two for sure. Lobbe and Big Sauce I'm interesting in for R2. Solo rucks so plenty of time to breakout. Far for certain but one of them may be a nice sleeper pick.

      McClungeMagnet · 16/02/2014 at 12:21

Also interested in jarman Impy and weather he could take jake needed spot come round one.

Grufflez · 16/02/2014 at 09:30

Eyes on Impey & Polec.
Interested in seeing how they use Hendo.
I read an article that stated Polec ''himself'' his admitted to only being able to do about 40% of the preseason training…does he have the fittness required for R1…watching closely

    Swans · 16/02/2014 at 09:44

I don’t even know if there midfield has a spot for him. Much better players around that ark that should get games e.g michie, Dunstan

Kevan · 16/02/2014 at 10:29

Inerested to see how they use Angus Graham with Jacobs playing.

    McClungeMagnet · 16/02/2014 at 12:20

I'm pretty sure santo said they would only ever go in with one ruckman in any given match.

Jono · 16/02/2014 at 11:50

At the moment I have Goldy & Lobbe at the Ruck, very keen to see on how Lobbe & Jacobs play tonight. Might possibly have them two as an R1 & R2 combo.

    SCaddict · 16/02/2014 at 15:47

Lobbe is a late withdrawl unfortunately. Jacobs should play though.

      Jono · 16/02/2014 at 17:52

Well that’s a bummer! I might have see how he plays next game then. But still keen on how Jacobs play if he’s worth a shot.

scooter · 16/02/2014 at 14:31

Interested in Sam Shaw currently my d5 should have no problems bein in the best 22 and was averagI g 70 ish in 2012

Rosco · 16/02/2014 at 15:03

Does anyone know why why Brad Crouch is not playing? SC smokey in my opinion. Hope their just easing him into the season and it's not in jury related.

    @BarronVonCrow · 16/02/2014 at 19:59

Rosco – He had an achillies injury complaint before Christmas, so he was a week or so behind on his pre-season schedule. He'll play in the Carlton match next week.

Jake · 16/02/2014 at 15:23

What's the go with lewis taylor

    Swans · 16/02/2014 at 16:38

Pretty sure he is injured. I think he had foot surgery

Jordan · 16/02/2014 at 15:30

Hey guys can I have some thoughts on my team.

51,000 left in the bank.
Places where I should save/spend $$$
Players I should ditch/pick up

All criticism welcome

    Footy in me · 16/02/2014 at 16:28

Not sure about McEvoy and man everyone has that back line that's all 🙂

      Judd · 16/02/2014 at 17:51

I'm thinking of taking the punt on McEvoy also, if he stays fit. Hawthorn will be a top team again this year there is no denying that, and if your the number 1 ruckman in a top team he SHOULD atleast score decently, hopefully. Then eventually upgrade Grundy to a premium making big Ben R2.

That's my plan today anyway, probably change my mind by tomorrow.

      Philbya01 · 19/02/2014 at 17:42

Nearly my back line except you've got nine players.

    Swans · 16/02/2014 at 16:39

    1 to many defenders

    favalinko · 16/02/2014 at 22:03

to many bye 8 players in mids also only 1 premium ruck in rnd 8 if bench players don't play

    Grufflez · 17/02/2014 at 19:10

Team looks solid but Broomhead/Taylor are injured and won't play R1
Personally i don't like M.Murphy and think he will average 105 ish..not a cash cow and not a keeper for mine.

Callum · 16/02/2014 at 17:00

Got my eye closely fixed on impey, Matt crouch and Mitch grigg

    Callum · 16/02/2014 at 17:02

    Also polec

Leon · 16/02/2014 at 17:16

hard to tell with port players as the experience is coming out early, Flynn looks not bad, like newtown. Not sold on polec yet, seems slow

George · 16/02/2014 at 17:27

Do you guys reckon Murphy's score from yesterday was what we can expect from him this year or was he not trying because it's nab challenge and can he still become a premium this year?

    WombatsFC · 16/02/2014 at 18:03

Based on yesterdays efforts when Blues really wanted to win and the game was in the balance Smurph went missing big time. I reckon he wanted to be anywhere but on the footy field 498k might be too much to pay for him.

    SCaddict · 16/02/2014 at 18:08

I reckon he's a fairly safe bet from the standpoint that he's not going to lose you any money. Whether he can return to the elite status of 2011 I'm not so sure.

Oppositions have kind of wised up that if you put him under a lot of physical pressure and beat him up a little his performance suffers. Also with Juddy no longer the top dog in town means he cops the brunt of the opposition's defensive attention.

But if he's fit and healthy he's still a fairly solid pick who should should get you at least 100-110 a game. Would want to see a better showing in NAB 2 though with other players like Ziebel and NDS putting up their hands yesterday for not much more moulah.

    McClungeMagnet · 16/02/2014 at 18:42

You have to assume he was just cuising. Judd didn't cop much attention last year so his absence shouldn't matter.

      SCaddict · 16/02/2014 at 18:59

Yeah that's precisely my point MCM. Juddy wasn't the man last year and as such Smurph copped the main tag and his scoring suffered. Also opponents worked him over which probably contributed to his injuries that were impact related and not soft tissue related.

Back in 2011 when Smurf had his highest output Juddy had just come off a Brownlow and was still the marked man.

I still think he will be a very good premium scorer but just not assuming he will return to elite status as many people believe will automatically happen. He's in my team right now but by no means a lock at this stage.

    Grant · 16/02/2014 at 23:07

TBH I had murphy up until yesterday and put a line thru him. I have grave concerns over his ability to match it with the bigger stronger mids. I reckon malthouse does too. Great player when running on the outside with carlton playing that high speed clearance game but that went with Ratten.

Jordan · 16/02/2014 at 17:30

Sorry no D.Swallow in line up mistake

Pies2014 · 16/02/2014 at 18:34

Does anybody know how to log out?lol

NutSack · 16/02/2014 at 19:27

Power had way tooo many first timers so the game was irrelevant. Its hard for a rookie to shine if everyone else in the team are rookies also. That said Clurey did well score wise.

McClungeMagnet · 16/02/2014 at 19:29

Matt crouches dream team points by quarter. Lacks the tank 50 in first half 28 in second. With interchange cap that is a problem. Seemed to have an influx of touches early in quarter also. Racked lots of the contested pill, tackled well, liked to handball. Tompson and B Crouch out though.
Impy: Showed improvement, despite playing on betts later in the match as a learning experience I expect. All10 of his touches were kicks.
Polec: Got lots of the ball but wasn't overly impressed. Big third quarter swayed his stats.

Q1. Q2. Q3. Q4. Total
M.Crouch 2129171178
J.Impey 312101843
J.Polec 17 11 42 17 87

    @HeiroDAB · 18/02/2014 at 07:02

Doubt matt crouch will play until end of year. Unless god forbid there is an injury to the top tier, or sam kerridge under performs!

David Mackay is one to watch

derek · 16/02/2014 at 20:58

i liked the look of the Irishman – Flynn. Hardly had a game of AFL in his life, but has a big body and might turn into a good footballer. Keep an eye on him later in year. Plus is is only $102k

Duncan · 16/02/2014 at 22:16

What is Everyones Thoughts on Paul Stewart I think he could be a great POD buy this season!
He Is only $245,900
Not just that but with a full Preseason!
He also looked good today scoring 94

throttlefinger · 16/02/2014 at 23:22

Nice write-up, Barron. Especially at the park. Well done.

Not sold on Jacobs. Looked good in 1st. Not enough to slot at R2.

That said, Matt Crouch may not get R1 call but will get in soon. Probably not to worst idea to slot in on bench from the get.

    @HeiroDAB · 18/02/2014 at 07:08

Doubt he will be seen till after the bye unless there's an injury! Adelaide rarely play rookies off the bat, will be a wait to see him play!

      throttlefinger · 18/02/2014 at 07:12

      Good insight, Heiro.

Derek · 17/02/2014 at 10:06

I thought Sam Colquhoun had a pretty good game. I had him in my team at end of last year and he did alright.
Awkward price at $293k, but has DEF/MID DDP, had the vest a bit last year. I think he will be in Ports Best 22 this year and worth considering.

CowboysCowards · 17/02/2014 at 14:16

Luke Thompson is an interesting one. Good 2012 then injured last year. Back to $123k and appears to have been ok vs port. Didn’t see game. Thoughts anyone?

    Derek · 17/02/2014 at 16:55

What scores did he get in 2012?

      CowboysCowards · 18/02/2014 at 14:22

Small error there. He averaged 65 in 11 games in 2011. Thought it was 2012. Anyway since that post have seen the Henderson has gone down for the season. If fit and we'll Luke thompson could potentially fill the "void" the the great jock reynolds likes us to look for. Will watch but pod rookie and some food for thought.

Mearzy · 17/02/2014 at 19:25

Hey guys, just found out Ricky Henderson is out for most of the season. He fractured his leg at the end of training after being tackled apparently.

” goes the old joke, “And don’t tell me ‘eat right and exercise’ – I did that for a whole day and it
doesn’t work. Though poorly conditioned people have lost some weight and
gained some energy using a pedometer, this plan should
still be considered as simply a launching pad to higher planes of exercise,
such as cardio classes, inlline skating, martial arts, jogging, race-walking,
hill-walking, hiking, cycling and use of cardio equipment.
