SUPERCOACH 2013 GRAND FINAL PODCAST
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
Huge week – and we come to you LIVE from the 2013 Fantasy Footy Grand Final parade as it makes its way past Jock central.
It’s unfortunate that this joyful event was somewhat soured by controversial events relating to the suspected soiling of the bungalow by the coach of the Essendon Football Club.
Enjoy the show – and well done if you’ve made it through to the big dance!
***CONGRATS TO JOHN – COACH OF THEDIMMAWITS. HE’S DRAWN FURTHER AWAY AND LOOKS SET TO WIN THE $50,000 – MY INTERVIEW HERE***
Granny in all leagues this week with a 2488 putting me through.
3,394 overall.
Thanks for your help over the season, Jock.
Well done Crabby! Top achievement mate – top achievement.
Got through to the GF in both my leagues. Expected it in one league, was projected to lose the other prelim the entire round but made it by six points! Would not have made it had I not followed advice on here to choose Selwood as captain over Ablett 🙂
Thanks team!
Plenty of good news stories around the community Jason – youre is another and I am rapt! Good on you son
Been great listing to your podcasts all year. Made to grand finals even with cruzer burning me!
Ripper Timmy! Isn't it nice getting away with one like that. Happy for you mate
Will he burn us again if we keep him?
Thanks to Jock & the boys.. 3/3 G/F's, overall top 100, handy 2600 pts..
2600 man that is something….did you go close to overall leader for the round?
Ended up 68th for round.. missed out by 92 points…
Struth – great work son!
Thanks Jock..
TOP STUFF !!!!
Cheers BestCoastEagles…
Great job mate! Peaking at the right time!
Thanks mate.. Hope the team's not to tired this week…
Congrats TheDimmaWitts who can start planning how he will spend his $50K with an insurmountable lead now.
I've started up a Supercoach Finals league which anyone here is welcome to join. The league code is 184074 so please jump onboard.
Geez it's challenging to field a decent XI within the $3.7M salary cap!
Hi SCaddict…..I am on board mate……Team Name "GOCATS"…….
Cheers,
Raj…..
Yeah well done Raj on making the GF in our ultra competitive JRC comp.
Unfortunately Gaz let me down as C (as he did plenty others) so fell short by a handful of points but Whoa Dragon! should prove a challenging adversary for you this weekend.
Commiserations SCaddict & Congratulations Raj on your stellar season all the best for GF, hope you crank out the Big V.
Well done Raj – top season mate. Top season.
Thanks Jock, SCaddict & BCE for your comments…….
I am in GF 3/5 leagues……..the last trade I used was to get Andrew Walker into my team……..and he was a late withdrawal……and cost me around 100PTS…….would have won all 5 leagues if he had played……anyways I am happy i have made it to the GF in 3 leagues……And just hope walker plays this week……if he doesn't I have got no hope in winning any of the leagues…….
And I am also very happy being a second year SC player that I stayed within top 1000 since RD 11…….and currently sitting 578 overall…….Thanks to the JR community for all the advice and help provided during the SC season 2013……will be back next year and hope to do better……..
GOCATS…..Win the 2013 Premiership……..
Cheers,
Raj…….
I'm in as well SCaddict.
Haven't registered yet but team name is 'Pies4eva'
No worries I'm the Fosbury Floppers!
Hi SCaddict, I am in thanks mate.
Team Name "Unpredictables"
Cheers,
With all the playing rookies already maturing in pricing this season it's damn hard to come up with a team with more than 2 or 3 superstars for C and VC duties. Definitely a competition where a G'n'R strategy doesn't really work unlike regular Supercoach.
So you have to rely on a large number of mid pricers getting the job done which is not a comfortable position to be in. Guess everyone is in the same boat though.
Anyway good luck with your team!
Agree SCaddict, more of your mid price for sure with a Gun or two. Most of the cheap cheap Rookies aren't getting a game. Should be fun & games though. Appreciate the invite SCaddict
I'm in. Team name is 'The Benchwarmers'.
Welcome aboard Shinboner
I am getting involved also, banged out a 2500 on the weekend pity I was knocked out first week…My team is Pelican Streakers, it's tough to pick a side but I love mid pricers!
where you in a league called "3"?
No, must be someone else.
Thanks SCaddict! In as "Throttlers"
Im in
Great work SC. I'm in, team Superfreaks.
Hey SCaddict, my name is Cotch and Murph and im in there
Thanks to everyone who joined. Best of luck all.
Great Show Jock & the lads. What a turn around from last week grand finals here we come. Congratulation to the community that made the GF and commiseration to the members that did not.
Thanks Best Coast – huge week every year this one. Thanks again for your sensational input throughout the season – its blokes like yourself that make me proud as punch to oversee this community
No problems Jock, so thrilled you are the leader of the pack. Always a pleasure locking horns with other members of this Great Community and chewin' the Fat would not have it any other way.
Made the Grand Final Jock and in the top 1,000!
Thanks Jock and community!
Good on you Special!!!! 🙂 Nice work. Just one job left to do now
Top Stuff T.S.O.T, on cracking the 1,000. All the best for your Granny mate hope it is the BIG V mate
Got a duck egg on Kruzer but managed to squeeze through to both GFs. What is the likelihood of Kruzer playing this week? Will he be too risky?
Lost by 13 in my main league but i had 2 donuts plus Cotchin being subbed. It's quite frustrating knowing that i would have won if i had any trades left. Oh well, time to start planning for next year eh?
Feel your pain Mcareec, my great mate lost by 2 points. His opponent had Nroo 155, Montagna 154, Rockliff 153 & Minson 154 all on the Sunday games. Trades are very important to keep hold of but you can only use two a week. Last weeks carnage caught a lot of people out. Hope to see you involved in the community next year Mate. All the Best.
You win some and you lose some, i lost my main cash league with 3 trades in the bag in the first final, but i am staring down at 4 GFs this week, chin bragging rights will be yours soon enough!
Through to 1 GF, however lost my other 4 Prelims. Could have done better, but ran out of trades a few weeks ago so probably did well to get this far. A great lesson to remember for next year. A big thanks to Jock and the rest of the community – your advice has been awsome all year.
Even better than the technical advice has been the real sense of "community" which this site provides. All the extra interaction makes the SC experience even more enjoyable than it already is.
Top Stuff Don't Argue, your grand self and everyone else make this community the best Footy community in the free world. Glad to see you kicking on in at lest one league. All the best in the Granny mate hope you come through with the BIG V. Best of luck mate.
Yeah I exhausted all my trades by Rd 15 so am very fortunate to have made it through to 3/5 GFs.
Took some unnecessary risks early on which required a number of rectification trades to correct. Also was a bit too trigger happy on getting rid of players with short term injuries or suspensions such as B.Goodes, Leuey and Hanley to name a few.
Oh well should be all the wiser for it next season ha ha.
Will be interesting to see whether most coaches regard Gaz as a 'must have' in 2014. Has definitely faded in the back end of the season and he's no spring chicken any more. Likely to still cost an arm and a leg too, probably just shy of $700K.
This may be heresy but I'm not sure I'll have a spot for him in my starting squad with all the other must have guns to squeeze in. His sub par perfromances during the critical Supercoach finals period has definitely left a very bitter after taste in this mouth.
What is the best midfielder to bring in for $580,000? Already have Ablett, Pendlebury, Swan, Josh P Kennedy, P Dangerfield and N Fyfe.
Thinking of Jobe Watson but are there better options?
Cheers
Griffen plays Melbourne in the GF
Will cop the McKenzie tag. Could go anywhere from 90 to 160. Would look at someone like Jack Steven or a midfielder in a team with plenty on the line this week (Carlton, North, Brisbane). Guys like Kade Simpson and Jack Redden could be inspired picks.
See Boak also, who plays in the final ever game at Footy Park. Carlton will come out firing in an attempt to make the eight, and Captain Boak will be vital in Port's counter.
Check out Libba too, who I think will score 120 against a Melbourne side whose focus lays solely upon Boyd and Griffen (particularly the latter).
Yes Teo is right on the money.
The only other ones I'd consider would be Barlow or Libba but Griffen would be the pick of the litter for mine.
Too much upheaval at the Bombers to roll the dice on Watson I reckon plus they have a tough one against the Tiges to finish.
Copping McKenzie and having a tweaked ankle may result in lower end. That would be my biggest concern on Griff. Just a precaution.
Agree with Shinboner that Jack Steven or Boak could be a GF difference maker. Riskier but those two have broken off monstrous scores lately.
Both great choices throttlefinger, i would just be wary of Steven copping the "Crowley Monster"
Very true, WC. Part of me feels RC may not be as tag-fying this week. Could lay off the gas a bit and save something for finals.
Do you have Rocky up fwd? if not he;s your man
rocky will be out of his price range.
ahh missed the 580k, selective reading i think!
Ok guys,
Boak, Watson, Beams, Steven or Griffin?
Liking Boak at the moment.
Yes Boak is one I overlooked so like him or Griffen out of those choices.
Cheers Jock the advice throughout the year, first year playing and through to 3 grand finals out of 3 leagues!
Pulled out a 2569 for the prelims!
Wow! Monster score!
Well I'm in the Grand Final in both of my leagues thanks to you Jock and Mick. If you hadn't had your speech to the players that let us down, I don't I would have made it in one of my leagues. Also Mick said for one of his captain options to have Ablett-VC and Rockliff as my captain which paid off heaps. I wish I could nominate you Jock for Australian of the year next year, but I think might be too young.
This year we have had our highs with Mick getting in the top ten and our lows with the death of Charlie Dixon, but you have helped me out so much this year so thanks. Also good luck to all the other grand finalists in the community. Thanks Jock, Wayno, Crouching One, Peter, Mick and Mr Crimmo!
Thank you Jock and Mick for continuous help over the year. Was projected to score 2191, with a donut in my team and no trades left, yet pulled out a 2404, putting me in all 5 of my Grand Finals and going up 2 spots to 282 overall. Hoping Heppell will be back this week. Thanks again!
2406 and 3/4 Grand Finals. As a 2nd year supercoacher i wasnt expecting much but then i found the Jock Reynolds Fantasy Footy Community and Supercoach became like a religion to me. So i aimed high (top 10000) knowing i had the Godfather of Fantasy Footy to turn to, low and behold after 22 rds i sit 9711 o/all and in three league GFs. For this I Would like to thank jock and everyone in the inner sanctum for their advice and opinions throughout Supercoach 2013. (that includes you, the community).Your podcasts on a sunday night not only informed and directed me throughout the season i can honestly say i would not even be thinking about work as i drifted off into Fantasy Footy Dreamland. Good luck to those still in the hunt for a Grand Final W. I know i wouldnt be sitting where i am if it wasnt for Everyone involved in this great community.I look forward to competing against you in the donors league next year (get involved people) as great work should not go unrewarded. Thanx again.( next year top 5000).
Yes looking fwd to that league myself, has been a great year, knocking off the supercoach guru in my league with a 2550, by 200 points has him shattered!
well done mate. Hope to see you in 2014.Chers Bruce
HI there Simmo.
Heart warming words and I an everyone else in the inner sanctum here are rapt for you mate. Particularly gave me a smile when you mentioned your weren't even thinking about work as you drifted away. I'm a proud man right now son – just read your comment out to Higgo, Crouch, Mick. Vince and Crimm over here and they bloody loved it as well.
thanx jock that means heaps mate.and thank the boys too.2014 cant come around fast enough. Supercoach finals is a nice little bonus. Will you still be doing your podcast for that? Will no doubt need some guidance for that and who better to guide us than the "Godfather"
Winter Blues has come from no where to make back to back Grand Finals, season high 2432 to win Prelim thanks to Captain Rocky and Big Willy going enormous for me. Won 5 of last 6 to sneak into 8th spot by 0.13% so it’s destiny I tell you!! Now won 8 of last 9 to make the GF … exciting times!!
woah, great job mate, Hope you go all the way!
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha…. oh stop it- you're making me laugh to hard.
Glad you interviewed Hird and The weapon, but where was tim watson and bruce mcavaney. I heard that said "black ops turd" was described as deeeeelicious by big brucey- is that true? and what did dennis "do you wanna sit on the commitee" cometti have to say about it?
top stop boys.
ps glad that crouching asked that are-soul to fess up
Gday there skin tip – the parade was pandemoneom mate and we could only grab people as they walked by. Glad you enjoyed the show mate
A quick thanks to everyone for the help over the year.
I am a 2nd year Supercoacher and have benefitted enormously from reading the debates and listening to podcasts etc.
Have made it into 4/5 grand finals this year and got knocked out in the semi's in the other. Currently sitting just outside the top 20 000 which is about 35k better than last year.
Good luck to all teams in grand finals this year and thanks again for your help.
Welcome Gilly – fantastic second year effort mate
Cheers Jock, not as good as Raj, Footyinme or Simmo to name a few but still pleased.
Just need to bring home the chocolates in a GF or two to cap a good year.
Thanks again mate
well done gilly.Best of luck in your finals. If i can snag 1 win out of 3 ill be rapt. Cheers mate
I'm in the granny in all of my league's Jock. with a 2455 this week.
As far as I'm concerned, any granny I win, it will be BIG JOCK's name on the premiership cup.
Thanks to you and the boys, your work and dedication to this community is seriously under rated and I am writing to the AFL to have you all inducted into the AFL FALL OF FAME.
Cheers Lads
I would like to draw everyone's attention to Jock's impeccable interview technique at 8min30 of the podcase: eg "Say that again". We all know him as the father of fantasy, but it looks like ol' Jocky boy may just have a career in the media yet.
Well 4/5 GFs this week, finished nick lower than i had of hoped currently sprawled in at around 4500, I had good intentions of cracking the top 1000, after 1300 last yr, but alas..it just didn't happen! i was focused on the league wins..fingers crossed for next yr!
I also found i went into trade saving mode at rd 15, which i was happy about but when i came to trade i was a week to late, missed the thinking of making a cash trade before the finals and not setting up the war chest before finals. You live and learn, so at least i know what needs to happen next yr
I am gunning for top spot in Jocks Cash league, look out community!
Community,
Does anybody know how the pricing scale works in regards to the beginning of next year? Do they take the price they are after the last game or is it based on season average?
Eg; Ablett could be around $500k if thehy take the rolling change, otherwise, based on season average, he'll be $614k if the season ended today.
They use the season average to the best of my knowledge Jack
Have made GF in 2/4 of my leagues. Luckily they are the important ones (work and cash). Have bested my cash league opponent on two occasions this year in separate leagues, but he may have me this time. Gonna be a great weekend either way.
Thanks Jock and extended community for advice and banter this year.
Good luck everyone!
Jock want to tank you and this awesome community. This is my second year in the biss and I’m in 2/2 Grand Finals ranked 649. Another great Pod cast, any chance of talking about players to stear clear of next year in our first selection transom our last Pod cast for the year mate?
Great second year mate, very well played,
Do not touch….. how about Birchall and Gibbs I wasted 5 fkn trades on those spuds
Then JPK , Sam Jacobs, Duffield
Stuck with 0 trades, Hartlett and Heppell so was forced to play Colquhoun and Webster (donut). Still pulled out a 2400 and got into my leage final. Pretty happy, but im stuffed this week if heppell doesnt play
Well done! Never know. Footy gods can be merciful and merciless.
2nd year following Jock and 2nd year in the GF. Pulled it off last year, fingers crossed for this year. Thanks Jock et al and the community. Have enjoyed the year. Looking forward to next.
Cheers
Jock Mate love your work i look up to you man your a legend
Too right Jesse
Jock old mate,
Are we automatically in the cash league if we have donated to your fine cause?
Cheers
CC
If you were coming into the GF with two trades and about $10k, like my wife is, who would you trade in for Fyfe?
I'm thinking Libba, but considering Dangerfield.
What about Trent McKenzie? Would you trade him out? He's playing GWS. Is there anyone better at that price? Geary? Ted Richards? Jordan Roughead?
She's trying to be the first Scottish winner of our SC league. Not a bad effort, since we live overseas and she's only been to one game in her life (Rich v Melb, 2007, both teams 0-11, Richo kicked 3.6, #classic).
my advice would be to bring in dangerfield whenever you can
Has anyone done some 2014 supercoach planning
Look set to be copping a donut this week fellas, meaning it's highly unlikely I'll be pulling off the win. Thanks for the support the community's given over the year, see you in 2014!
Do I take Gunstons 102 and put Dusty on the bench, or roll the dice and see what happens. In a pretty close comp, with predicted scores only a few points apart.
Scored 2545
Had a draw in the granny
Was lower ranked on the ladder
Lose.
🙁
Jock, Crouching One, Higgo, Wayno, Mick, Mr Crimmins and The Community thanks for another fantastic year of entertaining and informative supercoach advice. I have fallen at the final hurdle this year but still take out a decent bit of play money from my cash league. Have gone one better than last year and cannot wait for pre season training and the 2014 supercoach season where with the help of all of you I hope to take out that holy grail of fantasy football.
Mayne's withdrawal did me in both Grand Finals. Scored 2446. Thanks to all the boys: Jock, Higgo, Wayno, Mick, Crouching One, Vince, Mr Crimmins for all the work you've done for us this year. Cheers!
4 wins from 5 GF's with a 2625. O'Meara (sorry I doubted you youngster) out Griffin in was enought to cost me the full house. Mega happy with 4 titles either way. Thanks to everyone especially Crouching. Ohhhhhhhhh Blandon Erris. Gold from each and everyone one of you. Cheers till 2014.
Hi Jock,
Great work this season thanks for all your help.
do you think its possible to have some 2014 supercoach price projections or players to look for next season?
Thumbs Up if you agree community?
Thumbs up!
Good season,Thank You Jock, Crouching and Higgo top work all year, have a good summer and get set for a huge 2014.
Yet another thanks to the full J.R. team! Bloody bonza!
I think that the Supercoach rules do need a review however. I recall Jock 'going troppo' at the Coaches for last minute withdrawals from sides halfway through this season, but Fremantle's line up on our Grand Final week almost single-handedly decimated my Grand Finals chance. Even if I had two trades in the last round I would have ended up with multiple on-field donuts. I don't know if more trade slots should be allowed for those who hoard them, more emergency options (although four's pretty generous as it is), or bonus extra trades for finals?
