Fantasy Footy Radar 2013 – Luke Shuey
As a 21 year old in his 3rd season Luke Shuey provided his Supercoach coaches with 7 scores over 120. The bloke has only just sprouted hair in his jocks and here he is belting on the door of the AFL fantasy footy ultra premium club.
When a kid of his abilities increases his average in each of his first 3 seasons in the manner that Luke has you’d be a bludger if you reckon that trend wont continue in 2013.
- 2013 Price: Supercoach: $553,100, Dreamteam: $488,100
- 2013 Position: MID
- 2012 averages: 103 SC, 95 DT (19 games)
- 2011 averages: 95 SC, 84 DT (22 games)
- 2010 averages: 74 SC, 75 SC (6 games in first season)
- Age: 22 when the season kicks off
I want you to look at an interesting trend in Shuey’s statistics ladies and gentlemen. In 2010 you’ll notice that his Supercoach and Dreamteam averages were much the same. However you’ll notice that the gulf between his Supercoach and Dreamteam scores are widening as each season ticks by. What does this tell me? This tells me that this kid is not only racking up possessions.. but he’s doing it in a more damaging and effective way as each year ticks by.
Mark my words. We are witnessing the birth of AFL Fantasy Footy greatness here.
I’m impressed also by how evenly his scoring was distributed throughout the 2012 season. He didn’t go on a purple patch at any one time of the season.. he distributed his arse kicking at a steady and consistent rate throughout the whole season. If you look at 2011 the story is much the same. This provides me with some critical intel. This bloke isn’t a confidence player. He doesn’t drop his bundle or second guess himself when things go pear shaped. He knows what to do and he just rocks up and does it every bloody week.
He’s nestled in among some blue chip midfielders. He’s in a team on the rise. Just ask Daniel Kerr and he’ll tell you Luke Shuey is the West Coast Eagles best midfielder. I tend to think that by this time next year this will be no doubt about that.
I expect Luke Shuey to finish the season as one of the elite midfielders of the competition and at this price he will be a very likely starter in JR Brumby FC 2013.
Is Lukey a Shue in for you folks?
