  1. Paul Bower 122!! says:

    Hey Jock (and co),

Had an average round this week with 2180,

And decided to go Dempsey instead of bower (bower on bench), and some

    Other unluckiness (E.G Selwood Out)!!!

Now just wondering for next week should I dump one of either Aaron Hall

Or Tory Dickson and get a Gun ($460000 in bank) or keep them? Because

I can't keep having no back ups in case of a late change…

Who is worth bringing in?? Stevie J? Chappy? Boomer Harvey?

Or go for the little bit cheaper Justin Sherman?

    Any ideas lads?

  2. squalidly pristine says:

    hey jock,tigerman,higgo

    loving the advice your'e giving.

im ranked in the top 1000 and thinking of really taking my team to the next level in the coming weeks.

    pondering these trades:

morris or ellis – rookie (spurr)

    mcdonald – rookie

malceski or lake or clarke – birchall

malceski or lake or clarke – scotland

    magner or shiel – ablett

    magner or shiel – murphy

508k in the bank at the moment.

this will give me a 6 prem midfield and a 5 prem backline with a 5 pren forward line already. when is the right time to do these trades? with byes in mind at the end of all that trading ill only have 12 trades left. i know there is a lot of injuries to save trades for but i need to risk going for it if ive got any chance of the 50k.

the real question is when is the right time to cash those cows in and when is the right time to pick those premiums up??

thanks fellas keep up the rippin work.

    • Jock says:

Mate my opinion on when that right time is is now.. sure these rookies have some more upside left but with the amount of rookies that many of us have if we dont start generating cashflow off em now we will not have the opportunity to trade enough of them in for cash.. start pickin em off I reckon mate

      • squalidly pristine says:

thanks jock very true. your knowledge of this game is superb.

so out of the 6 trades which two should i look to do this week?

im thinking two of the upgrades rather than two of the downgrades need to turn cash into points.

        • The Pinky Puncher says:

look at players break evens… backline rookies still got cash to make. That is if you can't see malceski occupying a spot in your side come the end, thge time is to trade him now. His B/E is 113 this week. I would trade him up to Birchall at 477 which will only cost you 82k.

Then trade Magner to Horsley and make 128k on that. In effect you will still be left with $578k to spend next week. Then Shiel will have risen a bit more and you can turn him into Murphy (611k)and clarke into Scotland. OH YEAH BABY!!!!

          • squalidly pristine says:

yep that sounds great and was what i was about to do. but then came the goodes injury. i need to trade him this week. birchalls breakeven is 123 so the malc – birchall trade can happen next week.

but bigger fish to fry. who to trade goodes to? sidebottom? dangerfield? okeefe?

          • squalidly pristine says:

already have franklin, robinson, tippett, cloke, porplyzia, cameron, pfeiffer and dickson

          • jimbo drouid says:

dont forget about t Adams as well as a trade down target

    • jimbo drouid says:

grab horsley for your magnar trade. Then you should have enough for ablett. Ablett is still a week away I am thinking

  3. Jamie says:

    Hey Jock, Crouching and Higgo.

Been following the podcasts week in, week out loads of useful hints and tips, keep it up!

What are your thoughts on this:

Downgrade Magner to Horsley (which will be me 297k to play with) and then upgrade Shiel to say Murphy or Kennedy next week?

Just figure I should set the engine room up early. Thoughts?

Keep up the great work guys!

  4. sugar says:

    hey lads,

just wanting to have a bit of a gripe! finished 6th overall last year and cant take a trick this year. scored 1921 this week and am 67000th overall!! just goes to show you need a fair bit of luck to get the job done. might retire i reckon!!

keep up the good work fellas…

  5. jimbo drouid says:

Boys one trade this week. Magner to horsey and save cash to try and get ablett back in a couple of weeks.

  6. geelong2012 says:

2201 selwood a no show an he was captain, so on came kennedy with a strong 40 and murphy vc with a 180 odd hurt..

  7. Nateo says:

    hey jock,

    any news on goodes injury?

  8. Justin says:

    3 – Crouching

    2 – Jock

1 – Higgo (baggin the Bombers, no respect for Mr Hird and Jobe)

  9. Richo says:

    Hi Jock Guru

    Need some advice please.

Thinking of trading Magner for Horsley, which will give me 340k in the bank to spend on a premium forward (I need badly!). I have the porp, hall, kennedy, smedts, smith and stanley. Which one would you upgrade and who with? I am thinking Stevie J, Chappy, Martin or a gamble on the one you love big Jonno Brown.

  10. Mick says:

Thinking about changing my rookies around.

Traded Magner for Horsley, and with extra cash looking at D Smith for S Johnson

    • Mick says:

Ended up upgrading D Martin for Pendels. Seems that the popular trade is magner -> horse

  11. macca says:

Traded magner for horsley, then shiel to pendlebury. Should i save a trade or bring in a premium midfielder? sitting on 17 trades atm.

  12. Hugh says:

Goodes gone for 6. Buys James magner

  13. Hugh says:

Goodes gone for 6. Buys James magner one more week. Same can't be said for Kennedy though. Adams and horsely in building a little war chest for the following weeks. Are there anyrookies on the horizon which might top these two? Sumner potentially?

    • billy says:

keep an eye on lee spurr from freo. could downgrade from bugg, ellis or morris for some extra cash. he played his first game last weekend, was the sub and still managed 50. i would watch him this week before you decide

  14. mark says:

Replacement for Goodes ? Pav,Zaharakis, Rooey ? Beams, dangerfield ?

  15. Knackered says:

I've blown more trades this year on replacing long term injuries than I have in 3 previous supercoach seasons. Now its goodes turn. All my upgrade plans keep getting put on hold as I play put the finger in the dam and hope it doesnt burst. Im toast this season. 13 trades left now. Yep, 13.

  16. Liam says:

Is there any point of me down grading shiel to horsley and adam keneddy to taylor adams to give me some extra money in the bank, then upgrade magner next week as of the moment i have 4 rookie mids(inlcuding James McDonald) and 3 in the forward line.

  17. Hope this works Jockland…

    • Jockland,

Can I just thank my new mate….I have gone from the laughing stock of my 4 leagues to being held in awe so far this season….unbeaten in 4 cash leagues…

So it will be my shout for a frothy if I come away with the chocolates…

  18. Benny says:

    What you rkn guys

Patty dangerfield or real steele side bum??

  19. Kade Birchall says:

Jock do you have Priddis? Doing my head in! Averaging only 104 this year, and scored 89 this week! Should I trade or will he come good?

  20. billy says:

    hey guys.

what do you think of brad ebert as a premium lock. should i upgrade him for kennedy/selwood or keep him for the season, keeping in mind ive used a lot of trades so far

    • jimbo drouid says:

depends if you plan to try and get ablett back in down the track. I'm sitting on 400k to work him back in next week when I trade out old mac

  21. James says:

    Magner out for Horsley

    Ryan O'Keefe in for Milera

Cant pass up on Okeefe @ that price!

  22. Sam C says:

I have a big issue. I want Ablett back in my side, but I end up just about $9000 short! Basically, I trade out Ebert and Magner to pick up Horsley and Ablett. But its not quite enough.

I guess its a wait and see to see if ablett plays. If he doesnt then im safe. If he does then I have a problem potentially. His breakeven is 133, which is a lot. But he would get that against GWS.

My other option is trading out Either Dane Swan, Marc Murphy, Sam Mitchell, Lenny Hayes, or Trent Cotchin for Ablett. I don't think I would sack Murphy, hayes, swan or cotchin though. Mitchell has let me down a few times now.

Thoughts? Any help would be appreciated.

    • Tigerman says:

Definitely risky, but maybe magnet – couch/zorko? Untried rookies, but they are close. Leaves you the cash to get ablett

      • Sam C says:

Already trading magner for horsley who is still 120k. leaves me about 9000 short for ablett. Considering trading Mitchell for Ablett, but I think I will wait until next week and save the trade until I have that cash and Abletts form confirmed.

    • Patsy says:

      Hi Sam,

your midfield is already very solid, do not trade out mitchell, hawthorn has had very difficult rounds early in the year but will lighten up, with hodge unwell, mitchell is no 1 ball winner. The problem this season has been the unpredictability of teams and their last minute changes post lockout, for top teams such as carlton and geelong, resting star players is a key tactic. eg. murphy on interchange and selwood ommission. these teams have 2 or 3 chances to rest players presumably against GWS, GCS and perhaps melb… what is important is that you have benched rookies who will play most games of the year and midfielders who will not be omitted unless injuries. Magner and ebert are two examples of such players. I would be saving your trades until midyear where you can really do some damage come round 11, 12 and 13.

  23. Benny says:

If you have goodes who are you trading him for???

    stevie J maybe

I need help playing my main rival this week :s

    • Liam says:

do not pick up stevie j to inconsistent, i would pick up sidebottom.

      • Benny says:

Just looked at my opponents team he has both patty and steele, is there any1 evn worth looking at to try and get the edge on him

    • Sammy Winter says:

I'd go for Dangerfield, but if you need money save 50k and jump on Hawkins.

    • Patsy says:

      hi benny,

my money is on the big pavlich for a point of difference, dangerfield will be up against geelong midfield and since your apponent already has sidebum, pavlich break even is 55 and without fyfe, he's freo's go to man, especially against a weak port adelaide this week

  24. jimmybartel3 says:

need some help on this everyone feel free to leave feed back,

    DO I :

Trade out goodes for 6 weeks ( no brainer )

and bring out milera too because i believe his just looking lost at the saints with saad getting a sniff now.

    Steve J ( i believe his back )

and bring in the jono brown a bit of belief in the old fella!

    what do you think?

  25. kei888 says:

thinking of trading magner out for horsley and goodes out for okeef will leave me 322k in the bank any thoughts ?

already have dangerfield and sidebottom .. you think pav or stevie j would be better options than okeef?

  26. Sammy Winter says:

Who to put captain? That's my question this week.

Now to the theory. Every time someone asks the question who to put captain about 90% would say choose a premium who is versing GWS or GCS. Ablett, Murphy, Swan, Pendlebury, Stanton and even Boyd are probably the most common captains that have been used. With Ablett possibly out and GWS and GCS versing each other, we now have to ask ourselves who's versing Brisbane, Melbourne. Our top form premiums here are basically Swan, Pendlebury and Mitchell, maybe even Franklin. All theses blokes have scored like the way a captain should with some 120+ scores. Now if you don't have any of these guys i would maybe take a little (or big) risk with maybe putting the capataincy on a premium a little less consistent like:

Dangerfield – Versing the Cats but hasn't let me down once this year.

Cotchin – Know you love him Crouching, may be his time to shine versing the Swans.

Pavlich – Starting to hit some great form, versing Port i'm expecting a massive score.

Deledio – A great game against Port. I hope he can back it up against the Swans. That certainly would prove something.

Well there you have it, the answer to the who to put captain question. Feel free to reply any sort way (good or bad). I'm thinking of doing the same sort of article next week. I'll be answering it in the podcast. Any questions you've struggle to answer write it below. I may use it for next weeks article.

    Thanks Guys.

    • kei888 says:

hrmmm…yeah maybe ill go franga for capitan against the dees

      • Matt says:

If you have pendles then he should almost always be captain. I dont buy into these good players beating up on GWS, murphy got 80 something on the weekend. Good players play well in big games, look at swan and pendles on anzac day. I went Scotty Thompson as captain in the showdown the other week and get got 140 or so.

  27. Vincent says:

    hey jock and co.

plan for this week was to downgrade kennedy for adams and one of d.smith/shiel/magner for horsley.

But goodes out for 6 weeks really throws a spanner in that plan so wondering now if i should just trade for one of horsley and adams this week and bring in sidebottom for goodes (already got buddy, martin, dangerfield & lewis as premiums up fwd).

Other option is to still bring both rookies in before their big price rises but trade goodes out for one of them and take a bit of a hit to my score this week by playing an extra rookie up forward but free up a tonne of cash for upgrades next week (already have 150k in the bank) and the rookie depth in my forward line. thoughts?

    • kei888 says:

im in the same bubble mate .. have you considered pavlich or okeef in for goodes ?

      • Vincent says:

nah o'keefe hasnt showed me enough this year to consider him and pavlich hasnt been playing as well as i would have hoped under lyon's gameplan limits his scoring and im not taking much out of his big game on the weekend with it being against the gold coast

  28. G-Train says:

Who would you put in your fwd line first, J. Roughhead or sidebum?

  29. Nateo says:

    hey guys thaoughts on

    goodes – horsley

    goodes- premium ie watson,rockliff

  30. BigD says:

    What's peoples thoughts on Ledger?

Is he far away and worth persisting with?

Debating who to trade out to bring in Horsley – Cash in on Magner/Shiel or sideways trade Ledger.

Have around 400k in bank, so could potential upgrade cash cow and still get rid of Ledger.

  31. jimmy says:

    I need a forward and I've got $506,700.

I've been looking at Clancee Pearce, but not sure how reliable he would be.

Otherwise I could go with someone like Paul Chapman, what are your thought?

    • moncon says:

I like Pearce a lot but I don't like Ross Lyon. You never know what stunt he's going to pull next with his structures so all Freo players are out for me. But I must say Pearce looks the goods.

      • jimmy says:

yeah I was thinking the same thing.

Who do you think would be the best option, I can afford, Tom o hawk, Power, Chapman, Pavlich, Robinson, Zaharakis, Boomer just to name a few

        • moncon says:

Hawkins: key position = inconsistent. No.

Chapman: I had him last year and he was great. I don't have him this year because of the age factor and his hamstrings. Proving me wrong so far, but I'm still suspicious of him.

          Pavlich: Freo

Robinson: good option but that midfield is so strong I wonder how much ball Murphy, Judd, and Simpson are going to leave for Robbo to get for himself. Not convinced.

Zaha: can't go there, don't know why but something just says no.

Boomer: had him last year too, decided not to this year due to age factor, so far I think I was right.

Overall I reckon this is a transition year in the mids, with some old favourites (e.g. Boomer, Chapman, Mitchell, Pavlich) fighting for their SC lives against the new breed (e.g. JP Kennedy, S Selwood, P Dangerfield, T Cotchin), next year it will be very clear who to pick but this year it is still a toss-up.

  32. Kris says:

Goodes gone. Who to bring in for straight swap. 563k to spend.

    S. Selwood

    A Swallow

    .. or a forward?

    • Rob says:

      what about ryan griffen?

id rather him over boyd and he has a low BE aswell.

    • Mick says:

Franklin at a good price if you dont have him yet

    • Sammy Winter says:

    • jimbo drouid says:

s selwood. maybe stantion if you can get him

      • Kris says:

Got Franklin and Mitch. I'd get stanton but he's too expensive. Will Selwood be able to keep up his form? Boyd dosnt thrill me. Griffin interesting prospect he has been doing well. Thoughts on swallow and danger?

  33. jimbo drouid says:

looking for some advice on the forward line.

franklin, sidebottom, n riewolt, roughead, martin milera, adams (kennedy and dickson). am looking at moving roughead for the ruck when (if) its time to cash in redden.

    who's the best under 400k?

    • moncon says:

If I'm not wrong you have no injuries and therefore no donuts (depending on selections). So I would be doing nothing at all, and saving trades. There's still 17 rounds to go!

  34. Hi all, first year that I'm getting somewhere with SC…but when it comes to cash cows and trades I'm a bit unsure of how to go about it. My team is as follows.

B Deledio,Goddard, Suckling, Clarke, Bugg, Dempsey HShaw (Morris/Ellis)

Mid Watson, Mitchell, Hayes, JSelwood, Priddis, Magner (Old Mc/Coniglio)

    R Giles, Kruezer (Redden/Stephenson)

Fwd Buddy, Dangerfield, Chapman Martin, Milera, DSmith, A.Hall (Treloar/Couch)

I'm keen to get in Pendlebury into my team…so am I right by selling a Magner to a lower price rookie like Spurr, extra cash is then there for Pendles. Need a few more into my Fwds and I'm really disappointed with Kruezer at present. Dayne Zorko looks a find as well and has played two NEAFL games and has gone ok as well.

Any advice from the seasoned SC community would be great.

    Great game isn't it!!!!

  35. moncon says:

Hmm. Spurr's a DEF so you'd be selling Morris/Ellis for him, and then selling Magner for Pendlebury. That would put one of Pendlebury, Watson, or JSelwood on the bench in R12. Not the end of the world but something to consider. If it was me, and depending on your cash of course, I'd be thinking about trading Magner/OldMac/Coniglio for DBeams, Sidebum, Robbo, Christensen, or C Pearce to set up a MID-FWD swing set, which will help in the byes. Your backs are strong, your MIDs are fine, your rucks are not as rooted as many (yet), your FWD line looks thinnish, but you have no major issues or injuries so any changes are basically you tinkering about and burning trades for no particular reason. My overall advice? You haven't got Pendlebury (or Swan) yet – too bad. Do nothing, and conserve those precious trades.

    • The Wanderer says:

Terrific advice, I reckon, but if you're good for trades, wait a week before looking at Spurr (Freo) or Brennan (WestCoast) as DEF options. *IF* they get a game *AND* score, they might be worth considering next week. With the Coaster's injuries and suspensions, there might be rookie gold in the West.

    • Thanks for the advice fellas…very sound, I appreciate it greatly…

I may be getting a 0 in the forward line though as Hall, Treloar and Couch may not get a game as I agree my forward line is my weakest line at present.

This is of concern to me.

      • moncon says:

Treloar is MID-FWD so that's a good reason to set up the swing set

        • mmm the trade to get sidebum into the forward line really has some merit. That way I can can get rid of A.Hall from there as his job security is shaky at present with GC playing better footy and the 'ins' in the next few weeks could be Ablett etc etc before Hall gets a look in.

***Moncon*** You ever thought joining Jock crouching & higgo for some insightful thoughts and hot crumpet discussion???

  36. big fella says:

gunna pull the trigger on goodes. Leaning towards sidebottom… but could snag lewis, riewalt or pavlich. i already have franko and danger time. who are we all leaning towards?
