Around The Grounds – Round 15

Round 15 was a roller coaster it seems, we had some absolutely terrific performances from players such as Tom Mitchell, we also suffered some awful scores, with injuries hitting the likes of Isaac Heeney and Nat Fyfe and some just general poor play from guys like Tom McDonald. That Nat Fyfe injury in particular could be a BIG one for us, with a potential 4-6 week hamstring injury putting him our until Supercoach Finals time and if you’re playing for an overall rank, you just can’t afford to have that much cash sitting on the bench for that long. It looks like this years rookie crop still has a tiny bit of juice left in it though, so if you’re looking for downgrade options or waiting to see if your guy has a bit more life left in him, hopefully we can cover that off for you here.

Around the Grounds

Victoria

Carlton

Carlton challenged at various points of the game, but couldn’t keep up with Port Adelaide, going down 90-69. Matt Guelfi had 14 disposals, 1 mark and 2 tackles with 3 behinds for 45 SCPoints. He failed to hit his BE and lost $3,600 and has a BE of 79 this week with a 5-round average of 65 SCPoints.

The Box Hill Hawks lost 95-48 to Richmond in Round 13 of the VFL season. James Cousins had 26 disposals, 4 marks, 6 tackles and a goal, Kieran Lovell had 22 disposals 4 marks and 3 tackles and James Worpel had 20 disposals, 3 marks, 6 tackles and 2 goals.

North Melbourne

North fell out of the 8 this week after a tight 125-108 loss to Essendon on Sunday. Paul Ahern was a late in and had 22 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles and a goal for 80 SCPoints while Tom Murphy had 7 disposals, 1 mark and 1 tackle for 20 SCPoints.

Cameron Zurhaar had 25 disposals, 5 marks and 3 tackles, Mitch Hibberd had 25 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles and 4 each of inside and rebound 50’s and Tristian Xerri kicked 2 goals with 7 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles and 9 hitouts.

Western Bulldogs

The Bulldogs had a gutsy win on Friday, defeating Geelong 103-101 thanks in part to a missed shot on goal by Harry Taylor at the siren. Patrick Lipinksi had a great game with 25 disposals and 6 marks for 69 SCPoints, he had 20 uncontested possessions in there which probably accounts for the lower than expected score there. Billy Gowers was again impressive in front of goals, booting 2 with 19 disposals, 4 marks and 6 inside 50’s for 82 SCPoints. The game against Adelaide in which the Bulldogs only scored 26 in the pouring rain has been his only game where he has not kicked a goal this year. Port Adelaide

They were challenged at times, but Port Adelaide ended up running away in the 4th quarter for a 90-69 win over Carlton. Riley Bonner had 18 disposals, 5 marks and 4 rebound 50’s for 57 SCPoints. That was enough to just hit his BE, which sits at 77 this week with a 3-round average of 72.3 SCPoints. Jack Trengove played his first game for the Power and had 21 disposals, 9 marks and 4 tackles for 77 SCPoints. Todd Marshall had 5 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles and 2 goals for 49 SCPoints.

West Coast

The Eagles were obviously lacking some firepower up forward, but did well with the chances they did get, but still lost to Adelaide 88-78. Brayden Ainsworth had 12 disposals, 2 marks and 2 tackles for 45 SCPoints, Jake Waterman had 11 disposals and 5 marks for 49 SCPoints, Tom Cole finished with 10 disposals, 2 marks and 3 tackles for 55 SCPoints and Willie Rioli had 10 disposals, 5 marks and 3 tackles for 44 SCPoints. Sydney

The Swans kept up with Richmond for most of the game, but fell short in the last quarter, losing 93-67. Aliir Aliir had 15 disposals, 5 marks and 6 rebound 50’s for 64 SCPoints, he is now priced at $241,800 this week and has a BE of -7. Won’t make you the most cash in the world if you downgrade him, but he might have some solid job security going forward. Ben Ronke had 14 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles and 2 goals for 71 SCPoints, his BE is 46 this week, which he should achieve based on a 3-round average of 69 SCPoints. Tom McCartin finished with 11 disposals and 5 marks for 46 SCPoints and James Rose played his first AFL game of 2018 and had 7 disposals and 6 tackles for 38 SCPoints. He has seasons of playing 2, 5, 1 and now 1 game, so his job security might be questionable at this stage.

  3. Derek says:

i'm so glad that i can say i was at Cyril's last game (vs melb)….. what a superstar.

  4. Holmesy says:

Adams, crouch or beams the best value under 500k?
The cash made will allow me to fix my rocky or hibberd debacle.

    • Saundo says:

      Crouch out of those

    • Deckcrow says:

Certainly all three worth a look but I think Beams is starting to look like he is enjoying his footy…..if that is a legitimate reason to decide & got a high ceiling

  5. Rivo says:

Nice work Barron. Do we persist with Austin or is it time to upgrade that final D6?

  6. Jim_bob321 says:

    Hey community,
Hope you went well last week. I'm just a bit confused on my team at this rate…. Scored 2400 and don't know what trades to make.
Thinking of holding Fyfe for now but not sure. My backline is in desperate need but have no generation. Need the communities help.. if u can lol

I'd hold, try and get some cash generation this week to get Yeo or Lloyd in next week.
If desperate this week you could go Hurn

  7. Anthony Vardon says:

    Looking for some thoughts:

    7 Trades, Rank 722, 14k Bank

Def: Laird, Howe, Hurley, Simo, Sicily, Yeo – Austin, Smith
Mid: Titch, Kelly, Danger, Oliver, Coniglio,Crouch, Dusty, Rocky – Fyfe,Phillips, Ahern
Ruck : Gawn, Nank – Cameron
Fwd:The Hoff, Gray, Smith, McLean,Billings, Heeney – Guelfi, Ryan

I had Rocky as bench cover in mids. Now thinking left field with Menegola for Fyfe to loophole off the bench (Cats have 3 Early games in the run home as do Dons – hence keeping Guelfi)

Am well in front most leagues and 1,140 pts from top spot for the 50k. Am I dreaming to average the 140 a round to win the whole thing?? Should I just concentrate on winning my cash league!?

    • Hawks says:

140 per week is a lot to make up each week over the top team.

That said if your purely in it for cash return, then focus on the cash league, otherwise I would focus on a top 100 finish which may be possible, which would likely see you win the league anyhow.

  8. Steeeve says:

What's this talk about Matt Crouch being injured? I haven't seen it anywhere except BVC on Twitter…

  9. Steeeve says:

Also LOL just noticed Jarrod Garlett is still under 200k what a cash cow

  10. Finnius says:

Is ridley close to a call up barron?
