THE STANDING ROOM Round 15

Filed in Supercoach by on 01/07/2018 • views: 3770

That round didn’t go well.

It went awfully, in fact. Heeney, Dusty, Oliver, Smith and more all delivered sub-par scores. Gunston a late out. Nathaniel Fyfe doing a hamstring in the first half of his game.

And that’s before we talk about VC/C carnage caused by Ahern and Giro being late ins, or just people not putting the captaincy on Tom Mitchell

How are you travelling? What are you on track to score? What are your moves this week?

  1. Patch says:

Will discuss this in the podcast, but Luke Shuey at ~370k this week coming off a 116. What do we think? Trap? Lock at M9?

Also this round has hurt so very, very much. I miss the bye rounds.

    • r_calve says:

how long is Fyfe out for and should we trade him

    • Swans2012 says:

I bought him in this week to loop with rocky at m9, worked this week but who knows….

  2. JeffHeadJfc says:

Shuey in at m9 to cover fyfe for the next couple

  3. Lazza says:

Hey Patch.. Giro was in the team from the beginning .. not a late in.. SC stuffed up with him and Guelfi ..

  4. Lazza says:

I’m so glad I switched my C to Ridley at 3/4 time of Melb game to get Gawn’s score.. else I would have had Fyfe’s..

  5. Lazza says:

Have captured the Black Flag after being behind for most of the weekend .. 2272 with Dusty, Oliver, Fyfe, Luke Ryan, McDonald and Franklin all spudding it up..

    • Patch says:

Massive work Lazza! Who'd you whack the C on? EDIT: Just seen your comment above, lovely stuff mate

    • Randomcliche2 says:

Popular score mate, identical to Swans2012 and myself. You can add D.Smith and Heeney to list of poo bears.

  6. FearTheBeard says:

    How bad is Fyfe's injury?

  7. Rivo says:

Hi Patch. I feel your pain. Only scraped into 2235, with Fyfe Captain, Oliver, T-Mac, Dusty & Dev Smith. An complete mess. Now have to worry about injuries to Fyfe & Heeney.
Going to be a lot of soul searching. Any bubble boys worth considering?

  8. Ahmad rubas says:

4 wins out of 9 leagues not too bad considering I captained Cripps instead of Gawn or titch and none of my opponents had Fyfe captain. Annoying I lost the one matchup I cared about this week due to him captaining titch and heeney lobb smith on my side.
How did everyone else go this weekend and does anyone have any early trade plans?

  9. TIGESB2B says:

F me. Brought on NP loophole to take Grundy's VC score, and forgot to change the E to Guelfi. So, played a man short and lost by 17. And didn't have VC on Titch. And played D Fog fwd instead of Ahern coz Ahern wasn't playing – on mid bench.

  10. Adam says:

Lost by 40 freaking 6, Shaw 40 Degoey 64 and
the C on Fyfe 43, like are you kidding me aghhhhh

  11. Connor says:

Ended around 2200 even with the Mitchell captaincy… had the Kreuzer donut then copped Heeney, Fyfe, T Mac, Buddy & Oliver – had to play Josh Battle too

  12. hedski says:

2289, not to bad with Heeney, Dusty, Fyfe, Smith and Ryan all crapping their dacks or getting injured.

    • SamuraiPizzaCat says:

Similar score to me 2282, captained Fyfe and have Heeney, Dusty, Smith.. no Ryan though

    • SC_Sixty6 says:

2248 I think. Fyfe, Ryan, Smith, heeney, oliver, ZGL yuck.

  13. David says:

Lost by one because I reversed my trades right on game time Thursday night. It locked dusty as captain as he was my loophole from the week before. Not ideal.

    • Clinterfell_FC says:

This happened to me in the second week of the byes, locking in Macrae as C on the night he did his hammy!!! Thutnight games are a killer!

  14. Clinterfell_FC says:

Second time this year that a late IN (Ahern) has cost me a loophole worth 170+. I live overseas and these late changes happen at about 4 or 5am and give me no chance to respond! Almost makes me consider playing the “other AFL fantasy” game… almost.

  15. Hawks says:

Finished with 2372 despite having Heeney, D.Smith, Dusty, Fyfe & Oliver.

Won 4 out of 5 match-ups, the one I lost my opponent needed S.Martin to outscore Fyfe by 74 points, ohh well.

  16. DANGER1VDUSTY222 says:

    Jacob Dawson 102k rookie MID (51 + 59)
Any better options for cash generation this week?

  17. KSinny says:

Slowly creeping up the rankings with a 2317 despite having Heeney, Fyfe, Oliver, Smith and Guelfi. I've now moved up to 5114 which is my best rank ever 😁 Hows everyone else traveling?

  18. DEES NUTS R BIG says:

Best MID 8 under 530k for final upgrade.
    Gaff/Selwood/Curnow/Crouch?

  19. Gem says:

Tried to Take Gawn's score and subbed Ahern on for Captain and he was a late in because Ben Jacobs didn't play. My opponent was able to sub Ridley on. Ouch, Super Coach Gods did not smile on me at all.

  20. Sam_01 says:

Fell 400 spots after putting up a 2150 sitting just outside the top 1000 now, obviously need to assess the Fyfe injury is it worth just trading Him and mounting an attack on the prize if he is gone for 3-4+
Thinking Fyfe to matt crouch frees cash and nicnat to Grundy
Will leave me with one trade left but you gotta risk it for the biscuit
Like the look of crouch with Adelaide slowly putting their team back together

    • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

For anyone outside top 500 right now it's a far stretch you can make up the gap in 8.
      499th place is 1,037pts behind.

I would say only the top 200 at most are still in it for now.

  21. SuperLottocoach says:

More than 80% of comments are referencing the influence that luck had on scores this round. Maybe SC is more about luck than it is about skill?

    • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

      Nah luck is subjective
      Some say it's 10%
      Others say 30%
I say it's 50% because you control the starting team then the trades but it's only half the game. The other half is the actual players which you don't control.

1st half concussions/injuries for low scores, long term injuries, suspensions ect will happen but how many times it effects your team is what makes this game about luck. Sure identifying players who are not injury prone is important too. That you can control.

Point is every season has its great luck moments and bad luck moments.

      Coaches have gone:
      JJK > Gunston
      Cogs > Treloar
      Dusty > Treloar

      For example

      • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

Don't think there would be many people here who would not have made minimum 4 injury trades and
        3 corrective trades this season

        • Randomcliche2 says:

You must plan for injury trades, at least 10 of them, using them more aggressively early in the season because once touch is lost it's lost, given that by now the variation between teams really starts to narrow.

        • Lazza says:

          Trade analysis:
Injury: Ryan, Greene, Macrae, JJK, Fyfe
          Corrections: Zorko, Hibberd,
          Held thru injury: Franklin, Walters,
          Bit me: Zorko trade out
          Biting me: Dusty trade in

          10 trades left.

    • Derek says:

people only remember the bad luck.

good luck is quickly put down to superior SC skills.

everyone will have the same amount of tough stories and good stories over the course of the season. it averages itself out, always does. It is then the coaches who plan for these things that recover the quickest.

      • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

My defining moment this year was not starting Fyfe because of his 2 previous seasons I predicted he would fall again but as the season got toward the back end I was definately starting to doubt my decision.

Thing is could I have saved a trade if a stuck with Cogs… yes
Could I have saved 3 trades if I did not go Cogs to Treloar then to Fyfe… yes

        This is SuperCoach

      • Chooka says:

Why is it that you are dead set last in a mates league.
With all respect to you Derek, you offer decent advice but really!
Yes, you must select an initial good squad and manage it and yes we do tend to remember the bad luck like racing punters seem to remember their wins and not their losses.
You CANNOT win anything with bad luck.
        GOODLUCK to everyone.

        • Derek says:

thanks for reminding me Chooka. now i do agree it is completely based on luck and my poor decisions this year have no bearing on my current rank. in my defense though, i have managed two top 100 finishes in the 7 years ive been playing, highest ever rank of 76th in 2015, must have got lucky that year.

          • Chooka says:

Yes, you must have had a lot of good luck that year and I didn’t say SC is COMPLETELY based on luck. Derek, I have no doubt that you know what you are doing but yes, you have obviously had some dreadful luck this year because you know more about SC than most.
Personally my best has been a top 1000 finish but not this year as I have had an injury every week except the initial two weeks and of course three last week like many others, but I continue to fight.

            • Derek says:

it was the bye rounds stuffed me. I don't think i've won a match in last 5 weeks. 5 donuts and crap rookies on field, and this week…. i just don't want to talk about it. i am still alive in most of my leagues.

    • theRealPod says:

No doubt luck, or as some like to refer to as The SC Gods, can greatly influence your season. How you deal with the problems is what seperates the average coach and an elite coach.

      • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

agree with that. I made some poor trades

        • SC_Sixty6 says:

Probably your worst trade of the year was fyfe in at rd 15. *shakes head*

          • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

with 6 PODs already established before that trade I actually think Treloar to Fyfe was a no brainer. Only his injury made it the worst trade for me this year. Damn sucks when it happens hey 66 much like JJK to Gunston to Billings.

            • SC_Sixty6 says:

Those trades are over 7 weeks yet your trades are 3 in 3 weeks. You'd just about be outta trades?

              • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

Down to 3 if I trade Fyfe. Have Mundy and Ahern to cover if I don't.

                • SC_Sixty6 says:

Tough times! I have 4 remain. Keeping fyfe and waiting til last couple of rounds to do some damage

                  • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

been a shitty year for most of us regarding injuries. I agree Fyfe is worth the wait, I can use bench cover. Hope we don't have too much more to deal with for the next month.
                    Good luck mate

        • Shirley says:

All of my trades have bee good but I have had an injury/late withdrawal every round but I press on.

  22. mick says:

57 th possy 2 trades left with fyfe and heeney out trade fyfe and Taranto 4 crouch and a pod or keep trades need help

    • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

You got a premo on bench?
If you do hold them trades, this season is on another level for soft tissue injuries so far and the worst part is this was supposed to be happening in the last 4-5 games when players feel the pinch. Not over the last month with 8 games to go still!

      • mick says:

tnx no premo on bench only ahern

      • Puree says:

No different to last year with soft tissue injuries and it will get worse in years to come until they reduce the time played imo.

    • Derek says:

      show your full team

    • theRealPod says:

Great effort on getting so high in the rankings Mick but I think the fat lady is clearing her throat. I heard her dulcet tones months ago now after league wins, cheers

    • SC_Sixty6 says:

Keep Heeney as he's 1 week max. Depending on Fyfe with how many weeks I'd hold. Your 2 trades would only help you this week….8 games to go so hold.

  23. TheGreatBozza says:

Brutal round thanks to Fyfe el capitano, bunched in with bringing in Heeney, as well as De Goey failing to fire. Dropped from 1500 to 3200 rank

Moving forward who is the best Fyfe replacement? I’ve got 9 trades left so I’ll be looking to move him on and also bring in another premo defender to finish my team, and have De Goey as my F7 with Savage as D6

    • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

Crouch, JPK, Parker, Kelly, Duncan, Pendlebury any of those

      • Felix says:

Pendlebury hitting his straps especially with his sidekick T out. Sidebum maybe? Pendles will allow 80K for next trade.

    • Defying_Madness says:

Kelly, Neale, Gaff or Crouch for me apart from the obvious players most already have

    • Lazza says:

Cripps if you don’t have him… almost a straight swap.

  24. BrownlowBoy says:

    Lebron signed with the Lakers!!!

    • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

      I know -.-
That mean Lonzo will be a bench bum lol

      • BrownlowBoy says:

Nah, I think Lebron will quiet enjoy playing with Lonzo.

Despite LaVar being a jerk, Lonzo is a good player. Lonzo is a passing point guard, which will help Lebron I feel.

        Exciting times ahead in LA!

    • Ja191 says:

would of loved to see him go to philly with ben and embiid

      • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

Simmons need to work on his mid range jumper
Guy will be a 23-9-10 player at his peak

        • INPieman says:

If Simmons becomes a good shooter he will be unstoppable. I reckon he needs to go back to right handed

          • BrownlowBoy says:

Agree Pieman. He's a natural right hander. If you look closely, all his finishes around the rim are with his right hand (majority of the time).

            • INPieman says:

He's natural right handed. Looks so much more coordinated. Lets hope common sense prevails & becomes a legend

    • Shake_n_Bake_ says:

Easier passage for the Celtics to make finals!! 🍀💪🍀

  25. Stacky23 says:

scored 2306 and up another 1000 to be ranked 5295, not to bad considering heeney, dusty, fyfe and smith
De goey trade did not go as planned but took fritsch score and ended up winning by under 10 and now have decent cover for fyfe over coming weeks so can save my 6 remaining trades

  26. Marcus says:

What are peoples thoughts on Neale
Think Fyfe out will increase production or will he struggle with extra attention?

  27. Scoops_McYoung says:

2372, moved back up to 656 (was 250 pre byes).

Was on track for 2500 until Sunday… Oliver, DSmith, Fyfe 🙁

This game really does hurt sometimes..

  28. DTJ says:

    I top scored 🙂

Any thoughts on Brayshaw (on the bench) to Sier then either Ronke or Christensen to the Hoff.
    or
Brayshaw to Trengrove and either Ronke or Christensen back to Billings.

    • SamuraiPizzaCat says:

Wow that's awesome congrats! Huge rank change!

I'm still not sure I trust Billings but his last two scores have been good, the Hoff is a better choice. Trengove would be a decent bench option.

    • SC_Sixty6 says:

That's the beauty about this game hey! People that are so consistent over the year get nothing but another lesson learnt over the year. Then you have blokes that are 50k rank and take out a weekly prize. Well done.

      • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

to be fair it's usually a very obscure team added with the highest scoring Captain that takes the weekly prize. A few false premos avg 80 ish that go mental 140 and beyond. Grats

      • Rick Grimes says:

        What a salty comment.

        • SC_Sixty6 says:

Lol how is it salty? It's a true observation. Nothing more nothing less. You try dissect all my posts into negativity. How'd you go this week rick? You've been quiet although I was busy all weekend didn't have time to look.

          • Russty_ says:

Hi 66, just wondering, with Heeney and Fyfe missing week/weeks, are you going to depend on Ahern and Giro to cover them or do you think you'll need to do any trades this week?

            • SC_Sixty6 says:

Hi rustie. I haven't given it too much thought as it's Monday but seeing as you've analysed my team what do you think I should do?

              • Russty_ says:

Haven't analysed it…you're in one of my Leagues so I look at all the teams, you don't seem to have very many other rookies who are playing that's why I brought it up but it depends why you're playing I guess, you could maybe get Shuey in I guess to cover the midfield spot, but depends on how many trades you have left and how much money.
I'll probably be depending on Ahern and Jack Higgins this week, to get a half decent score and only doing 1 trade.
                Brayshaw to Shuey.

                • SC_Sixty6 says:

Oh ok I just thought when you said you didn't care about that league because myself and wow were in it that you had cut all ties from it. Plus you can't make the top 8.

I'll take into consideration all options. Might do it Wednesday. Cheers

                  • Russty_ says:

I'll be happy if I make 5 out of 10 top 8 in the Leagues, 50 % success rate isn't too bad, for me, only reason I said that it was a tainted League is because you said you couldn't care less about leagues, and I mostly play for that reason.
Bloody tough year so far with tough decisions to make, seems like every week, we need to trade someone out to cover for the ongoing disaster that has been this year.
Need to have cover and trades, and hopefully cash in reserve, I think many coaches this year, won't even survive long enough to give the finals a run….just the way things are heading.

              • Im selling trades says:

I think you need to see me ol mate, must be getting pretty low

    • theRealPod says:

Awesome DTJ congrats. Billings no, Hoff yes.

    • Steeeve says:

      What was your score mate?

    • sc tragic says:

Kudos mate, well done great score.

    • Cotchinator says:

Well Done DTJ, awesome effort, and you have something concrete to show for your season.
Unlike the other 2 in here who have been constantly raving all year about their rank and how good they are who will end up with nothing!!

    • Da_Boysh says:

      great effort!

  29. Dice_real says:

Gday Patch, similar thing to me mate.
Took me boys away for the weekend and forgot to take the C off farkin fyfe!
Scored 2323 – vc stayed on gawn

  30. Steeeve says:

Finished under 2200 and still in only dropped a couple hundred spots, still in top 1000. Must have been a lot of poor scores among the highly-ranked players this week.

    • Randomcliche2 says:

Interesting Stevo 2270 and rank didn't move much I think… still a bit of a way off at 6k.

  31. Jim_bob321 says:

    Hey community,
Hope you went well last week. I'm just a bit confused on my team at this rate…. Scored 2400 and don't know what trades to make.
Thinking of holding Fyfe for now but not sure. My backline is in desperate need but have no generation. Need the communities help.. if u can lol
    Bank of 83,400
DEF: Sicily, Simpson, Laird, Savage, Howe, J. Smith (Langlands, Redman)
MID: Mitchell, Cripps, Danger, Duncan, Bont, Conglio, Fyfe, E. Curnow (Ahern, Giro, Brown)
    RCK: Gawn, Martin (Cameron)
FWD: M. Robinson, Westhoff, Gray, Franklin, D. Smith, Mclean (T. Smith, J. Battle)
    Cheers community!

    • Redpill5 says:

If you have plenty of trades you might want to consider trading out Fyfe as he will lose money when he returns from injury and trade in yeo for redman.

  32. BigAl_15 says:

SOOOO frustrated with myself. I put the C on Fyfe over Gawn as I couldn't loophole him and got 2241. Would've had such a better score if I captained Gawn…rip

  33. NoLanguage says:

Fyfe To Shauny Higgins? 6 scores of 120+ and is absolutely flying with North having a decent run home.

AND only in 2% of teams…

    • Ja191 says:

      Ughhhh the tag worries me

      • NoLanguage says:

Been breaking it pretty comfortably of late. He also won't get tagged by Jacobs 🙂

        • Ja191 says:

Was on like 25 at ht 2 weeks ago being tagged before a 75 point third quarter where they took off tag I believe. Go with your gut though could be a very good pod pick

          • NoLanguage says:

Yeah they can lock him down for periods but has been very consistent. If Fyfe is out for at least 3 he's gotta go surely

  34. Andy says:

Pendles, Wines or someone else around that price for Fyfe?

    • sc tragic says:

Do you know how long Fyfe is out? Reverse trades are a life saver tho.

      • Andy says:

Minimum 2 weeks I saw on AFL site

        • Russty_ says:

Hey Andy, reckon Pendles is looking pretty good, Joel Selwood too..Fyfe out for at least 2, could be 3 could be 4, then it's finals in SC

  35. TBone_9 says:

Oliver all good to play this week? Saw nothing about his late driving tackle and getting fined at all. Also, who’s keeping Fyfe and whose selling?

    • BlueBaggerJosh says:

Hammies rarely one week so I think I'll trade to Kelly, Neale or JPK, 1 trade left is scary though so I'm not sure. Wanted to trade Boak but if I go along with the Fyfe trade I can't unless I hope there are no more injuries for the year and trade to a fallen premo like Darling later in time for SC Finals.

    • Lazza says:

Probably just do a straight swap to Cripps..

    • JohnDJ59 says:

Keeping Fyfe, he should be back for our finals, I have cover on all lines, but not many trades left.

  36. Marty says:

I'm thinking Fyfe will be out 3-4 weeks. See the quote from The Age.

"Fremantle coach Ross Lyon was unsure how serious Fyfe's injury was but it appears his skipper will miss the standard three to four weeks in a further blow to the struggling Dockers, who were made to look second-rate by a Lions side that had previously won only one game all season."

    • Russty_ says:

It's all too traumatic to think about Marty…lol, so many bloody injuries this year, how are we meant to get through to the end?…lol

      • Marty says:

I know mate if i dump Fyfe I will only have 3 trades. Decisions decisions. Least the Saints have now won back to back games. Wonders never cease.

        • BlueBaggerJosh says:

          Lol I'll have 1 😵

          • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

If the next month is even half as bad as last month I think thousands of coaches will be out of trades with 4 games still to go

      • JohnDJ59 says:

I'm thinking of not even continuing with SC next year if they don't raise the amount of trades to at least 33 to account for the amount of injuries that have been happening the last few years, doesn't matter how well you plan, injuries are having too much of an influence on results for me.

  37. FotherMuckers says:

Fyfe (C), Heeney, Oliver, D.Smith – SuperCoach is giving no love.

    • AuroraBorealis?! says:

had all of those plus T.Mac, Luke Ryan and Liam Ryan. It was a tough round

  38. theRealPod says:

Mihocek job security boosted with Dunn injury. Pies might struggle without the big fella.

  39. SC_Sixty6 says:

Unlucky for the Battle owners. Out for 3 weeks minimum. Fractured eye socket.

  40. theRealPod says:

    SCOOTER 😊 Welcome back!!

  41. Da_Boysh says:

    Hi All,

To be honest I don't think you'll even get close. Your team is solid but very similar to others. You would have to fly over the top of the leaders with a hand full of POD's that play well above average for the rest of the season. There are other factors including uber player injuries or loss of form, and top ranked coaches running out of trades.

You've done an excellent job getting to that position.

I am a little more bullish on this team. Basically because you possibly have more trades than other similarly placed teams. If you are to turn that into an advantage, then you would move on Fyffe if he is out for 2 weeks or more. You might be better to sit on those trades and hope you can use them late, and others have run out. I don’t think you can trade now into the 50k, you need to be well placed if others fall over

        • Da_Boysh says:

thanks both! yeah good point i think i will sit on my trades, seems to best option regardless it will help league and is my only shot at 50k as well.

    • HonestJohn says:

Of course you're still in with a shot, you've got a great chance. All it takes is a single good/bad/lucky captains choices to make up 300 points and then there's injuries with minimal trades and the psychological impact they have on coaches.
To improve your chances even further trade in a cheapish dpp wildcard to loophole (wingard or billings maybe) fwds always have off-weeks and being able to loop out of that score can be a huge advantage.
      Well done and good luck

Get rid of Shaw if you want any chance ..

What is everyone’s thoughts on M Crouch? 480k odd seems good trade for Fyfe??

  43. BlueBaggerJosh says:

Heppell or Crouch for Fyfe? Both very cheap for what they can deliver and determined to will their team into finals contention.

    • Ja191 says:

      i brought in crouch

    • Choco says:

If you don’t have Pendlebury get him because he is more reliable.

      • Ja191 says:

Personally pendles is a better pick than heppell but I rate crouch, neale, higgins, duncan, ward, jpk all over him

    • Dry says:

Heppell is a horrible option, is averaging 99 and has never averaged enough to SC relevant

  44. Kyle says:

Thoughts on Kelly in for fyfe?

  45. Yeahnahyeah says:

Crisp and Crouch or Lloyd and Shuey?

    Fyfe – 4 – 5 weeks, Sandi – 3 weeks – Source – SEN just now

  48. Rabbits16 says:

2,375 this week, moved up 4,501 places to a total rank of 15,296. what to do with Fyfe? hold or put ahern / higgins in as cover?

    • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

If you have 3 or less trades you gotta hold out I think, but for Coaches inside top 200 gotta continue to gamble. Still 8 games to go and the way the season has gone the next 4 rounds "could" eat up another 2 trades. Be wary

People with 4 or more trades have the luxury to trade Fyfe

      • Defying_Madness says:

think even with 3 or less trades you have no choice. 4-5 is way too long

        • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

agree only if you have no premium on the bench as pure M9 or an M9/F7 swing. If you do though but still 3 or less it's a needless risk to burn that trade. Leaves coaches with 2 trades for 8 rounds yikes

    • Ja191 says:

I think we have to trade sadly 4-5 weeks is too long to hold

      • ZzZCalintZzZ says:

agree 3 weeks is the max 4 is way too long and think Freo will not be in a hurry to bring him back seeing as they won't be fighting for top 8.

    • Crow94 says:

Have to trade. Way to long to be holding…

    • Da_Boysh says:

      i went Higgins

  49. Crow94 says:

4-5 weeks. F#CK!!! And will probably have a 0 this week with Heeney out also….

  50. Dale says:

Fyfe to beams/crouch for me if i wanna pocket the $100k and still get 100+ most weeks.
I could go kelly/cripps but feel there very pricey for not a great deal more points from here till finals.
the 100k would help me go hibberd->simspon or nicnat->grundy next week

    thoughts?
