PODCAST: FLYIN’ RYAN GROUNDED

Many things in this world are bad.

Coriander. Stepping in dog poo. Seeing Liam Ryan go down with a long term injury. Losing to Lekdog. Patch’s audio in this podcast.

Lekdog is a late out of this weeks podcast, allowing Damo of cheat sheet fame to step into the void of signifance on debut and produce a best on ground performance.

Damo and Patch talk us through round four, namely in the sense of talking us out of any stupid, wild trades. We discuss Ryan, rookies, injuries to Ablett and Kreuzer and talk about why you shouldn’t trade a premium selection.

Strap yourself in and brace yourselves for 35 minutes of podcast-y goodness* to talk you through the week in Supercoach!

Those of you quick on the button may have noticed I wrote Luke Ryan instead of Liam Ryan. Long time readers of mine will know I'm VERY BAD at first names, and you may remember me from such blunders as 'Not Knowing Which Crouch Is Which' and 'That Time I Thought Brad Hodge Played Football'.

Also – apologies again for the audio. Love you all, community. (Except you, Lek. You son of a-[the rest of this comment has been deleted by the administrator]

Never had a nice Thai Green Curry Patch?…usually full of the coriander mate..that's what gives it it's tangy, lime , bar of soap flavour..lol, nice work Potch 😉

  2. Mr.Brightside says:

There seems to be a lot of panicking knee jerk sideways and even premo trading, for the ones who have played SC over the years I'm sure you know what I'm talking about , remember trades are gold unless you have injuries, be conservative ,no rage trades

  3. StevoRivo says:

So I have both Langdon & Ryan at F7 and F8. Too soon to trade in Higgins as he can swing mid with Garlett? Or play safe and opt for Crowden?

    • Patch says:

As I mention in the pod mate, not a fan of Higgins' job security at this stage. Would prefer Crowden or Henry.

      • StevoRivo says:

Thanks Patch. Loving the pods and comments. Crowden opens up the Garlett bench swing set. While his JS may not be ideal either, the trade brings in $.

    • Tyruddanaut says:

If you are trading in one, I would choose Henry

      • StevoRivo says:

No DPP with Henry though he’s going ok!

        • Trevor says:

Henry and Crowden both have fragile JS but at least if Crowden loses his job you can switch in Garlett in an emergency.
Smith, Henderson, Stanley, Mcarthy, Taylor all coming back into cats over next few weeks. Sure most are rucks and defenders but also forward likely under scott.

          • StevoRivo says:

Thanks Trevor. I could hold a week with no bench cover on the forward line and see how Higgins goes? But for flexibility and cash, the Crowden move this week seems best.

  4. lord farquaad says:

should i be holding jeremy mcgovern? is he going to be a top 6 defender? seriously doubting it

  5. r_calve says:

is it worth switching out Merrett for j Lyons, they are about the same price and Lyons breakeven is 20 and Merrett's is 160

  6. haiku bob says:

I have Merrett, Armitage and Ryan.
Will probably go Ryan to Henry.

    Options for Merrett & Armitage:
    1. Downgrade either one of them for Crowden which would give me 400K in the kitty which I would look at using to upgrade whoever I don't trade in the first instance.
    2. Upgrade or downgrade to Lyons (Suns) who looks to be a good POD which would still leave at least 200K.

    Thanks guys.

    • Tyruddanaut says:

Be careful, Lyons has played, in the past three rounds, Carlton, North and Freo. Three easy teams!

    • Patch says:

Don't mind moving Armitage on mate. Probably prefer Coniglio but if you're after a major pod Lyons could work.

    • Sc_Wow says:

Lyons is a silly selection, the guy has averaged 90, 89 last two years. He’s shown he can string a few decent games together in the past, but also drops multiple games under 100 and will drop some 40s, 50s, 60s. He’s already dropped a 60 this year. Don’t chase the last 2 rounds of points, trade to a keeper or don’t trade at all

  7. CJudd3Votes says:

Im as big a Kreuzer fan as there is but that bloody Ruckman curse has got me in all sorts. Someone please tell me I'm not going to regret holding the beautiful man

  8. Corey says:

How many trades should we have used by this stage of the season?

  9. Tyruddanaut says:

I am honestly considering Billings to McLean.
I know that 0.5% of people will agree with me, but it seems good.
    • I chose BILLINGS because BILLINGS is a good player. His TEAM is absolutely rubbish and Carlton could beat them at the moment
    • McLean has a new role, and we see that Bulldog mid/fwds can average 100
    • I haven’t done any corrective trades on premiums, apart from Kreuzer to Nic Nat

    • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

I reckon you can do a couple of siddies this year as this year is unlike most.

The rooks this year are going gang busters meaning it will be a lot easier to go up and one down to pick off the fallen.

Last year it was so hard to get some moo going but this years crop and showing us how it can be done …. moo away lads

    • Derek says:

      Saints will come good.

It’s April. The sky is blue, the grounds are hard and the Saints are Slow.

They are not blessed with any speed.

      Winter is coming.

I think Saints will do good once the games slow down, the run is out of the legs and there are more Stoppages.

    • pod says:

      Hold Billings save a trade

    • Beezneez says:

I am thinking the same but am worried that Billings will start getting decent scores and will mean a wasted trade. On the other hand, Billing's BE is 158 this week and projected to be 138 the week after. This will mean a drop in price of about $70K whereas McLean's BE is 53 and he can be expected to rise in price. If you're going to do the trade, then this is the week. There are a couple of players I'd like in my team to balance it a bit more. I need to replace Ryan and the only way I can see to get the players in over the next week or two will involve a straight swap Billings to McLean so as not to lose any money.

  10. Lachie says:

Going to Trade Ryan down to Crowden/Henry, and have to trade Gablett but am 20k off Danger. Should I just back Dusty?

  11. THE SALTSHAKER says:

    1. I can GAJ to Macrae, ryan to henry $400k next week Armo to Danger.
    2. I can GAJ to Richards, swing finlayson to mid 6 bring Murray on ground D6 rather than bench + Ryan to McLean, $194k next week GAJ to Danger

    • Patch says:

I think I like option two but mainly because I want Macrae to be in my side and mine alone.

Would defer to other advice if it comes but McLean a lock for a top six forward, Macrae might slide later in the year with the amount of talent in the mids. Maybe. I dunno. Somebody please help me give this human advice.

    • pod says:

      1. Macrae this week Danger next when price drops 40-50k

    • The Ranger says:

      Option 2 for mine Shaker.
McLean is looking like a must have in a year when the fwd line was wide open at the start of the season.

  12. THE SALTSHAKER says:

    *mclean f5

  13. THE SALTSHAKER says:

    *forget this post

    • Trevor says:

I can't Salty, every time I try to leave my computer I find myself wondering what you were going to write.

      • Rabbits16 says:

        haha me too!

      • THE SALTSHAKER says:

haha i typod then couldnt edit.

        Ive got $310k

I meant Gaj to Richards, Ryan to McLean, next week Armo to Dang.

But am thinking GAJ to Macrae, Armo to Richards so can bring Finlayson to mids thru trade as above and Murray on ground. Gives me about $510k

        Next week Brayshaw to Danger

        • THE SALTSHAKER says:

Anyone have any news on McLeans midtime vs fwd?

is Hunter back to 2016 form but with a few more kms, better tank, experience? is avg 125 in DT vs Macrae 119 and McLean 93, currently 4th effective going at 79% and kicking more this year. Got 10 alfpa votes last week, 35d 13marks, 2 tackles and goal. Macrae had 31d at 90% eff 6 tackles, 6marks and only got 4 alfpa. They said Hunter was sensational. Im looking for Doggies fans, etc can tell me what the go is? i know Dons are poor atm but theyve all played well in their 3 games, 2 losses.

Macrae is a gun, bonafide, im just looking to avoid traps is all. Both mclean + hunter offer great value obviously

        • Canny says:

I really like both of those options, I like the first one because I think McLean has a better chance of finishing top 6 fwds than Macrae finishing top 6-8 mids (I feel he might drop off at some stage) but that's just me. Looking good though.

          • THE SALTSHAKER says:

seems like he is super consistent….

What turned me off McLean is how much up forward? Macrae unlike other doggies mids dont float forward, he is pure mid. 30.7d 6marks, 6 tackles 119dt, 130sc, seems to be kicking more this yr 7 extra kicks a game. Plays well when they lose. Right age/peak.

  14. Filth Wizard says:

To trade A Brayshaw and Zerret for Crowden and McRae or hold?
Or just trade Ryan for Crowden or wait for Giles Langdon to reappear. Crowden looks like a late draft gem and can play.

    • Patch says:

Hold mate. You picked Zerrett for a reason, just as likely he averages 115 from here as Macrae does.

Can see merit (geddit?) in Brayshaw to Crowden or Ryan to Crowden however

    • Trevor says:

Do it Filth but if you don't have Danger and Dusty I'd get one of them first.
Why? Bont has been in the naughty corner at the kennel for a few weeks and has been given some stupid roles he actually played forward and ruck for the first half last week and was on about 30SC at half time, Macrae about 70-80 and the dogs were getting smashed. Finally the penny dropped with the Doggies coaches and Bont moved into the drivers seat and they had an inspiring comeback win over those who shan't be named.
The point is Macrae scores much less when Bont is on the ball and whilst bont was in 'Coventry' Macrae did very well, now that Bont has served his penance he will move back to full time mid and Macrae will likely go back to 110-ish ave.

      • SW Roosters XXX says:

Bulldogs were not getting smashed at half time?
Nor was there a Bont inspired comeback win..,,
Bulldogs led from wire to post and came would have been over at halftime if not for Bulldogs wastefulness and inefficiency in front of goals and I50

    • Tyruddanaut says:

If you can trade Ryan and Zerrett, do that

  15. Tristan says:

I have ryan and z.lagdon. tempted to go crowden and hogan/petracca. Out of hogan and petracca who eould you go?

    • Patch says:

I'm not brave enough to pick Hogan

    • Trevor says:

I started Petracca over Hogan because he had less of an injury cloud and confirmed midfield role. Hogan is starting to dominate the way that he did in TAC and is now playing a StNick type mobile tall forward role, huge points potential but high stress on the body.
For safety and flexibility I'd go Petracca and expect a F6 keeper with a 95+ ave for the Year. Hogan might ave 95+ also with higher highs and lower lows. I'd love to slot him in at F6 now until the byes to see how he goes but I don't have the cash unless I also turn hibberd into LRyan.
Viney and McDonald returning at some stage will have no influence on hogans points scoring other than maybe giving him a few extra cheapies.
Good luck whichever way you go Tristan

  16. meph says:

    Ok jockreynolds family need all the advice I can get. Currently ranked just inside the top 25k so not ideal at this stage. My team served up a disappointing 2164 last week after 2326 in round 2 and a 2162 in round 1. I have 28 trades left and 87k in the kitty. Onto my team;

Backs: Laird, Simpson, Ryan, Doedee, Finlayson, Murray (Naughton, Murphy)

Mids: Danger, Oliver, J Kelly, Fyfe, Cripps, T Kelly, Brayshaw, Holman (LDU, Banfield, Barry)

    Rucks: Gawn, Nank (Olango)

Fwds: Heeney, Walters, Billings, Smith, Lobb, Fritsch (Venables, Ryan)

I think priority one is a premo mid but not sure the best course of action to make that happen. Im happy to take any and all advice, im a big boy I can handle it.

    Thanking everyone that helps.

    • Trevor says:

How much cash do you have?
Your fwd line is too speculative and you have some wrong rookies in the middle. If you'd made a couple of corrective trades pre round 3 you'd have enough cash to go Lobb>Mclean. But you didn't so, I'll get over it.

Brayshaw to Crowden- if you have zero bank it gives enough cash to turn Lobb into one of 7 FWDs currently averaging over 102 and also opens up the mid/fwd swing because your bench is fragile . I'd probably also turn Ryan into Henry or Garlett. Garlett has better JS and DPP but costs 30k more

    • Patch says:

I'm not good at maths but an injured Lobb to Henry/Crowden plus the 87k would give you a the start to a decent warchest.

Probably not enough to go Brayshaw to anyone just yet but with an eye on Zach Merrett he could enter your side sub-500k very shortly.

    • Filth Wizard says:

Lobb seems like he might have injury issues this year. Trade him out, keep an eye out for eagle J Kenbedy he will be back soon and cheap at that price. Give him 2 games to get going.

    • Defying_Madness says:

      Ryan down Lobb up?

  17. Lee says:

Def: Laird, Simpson, Shaw, Bonner, Murray, Doedee (Murphy, Naughton)
Mid: Danger, Dusty, Titch, Kelly, Fyfe, Finlayson, Holman, Kelly (Barry, Brayshaw, Banfield)
    Ruck: Gawn, Natanui (Olango)
Fwd: Heeney, Billings, Petracca, D Smith, Christensen, Ryan (Fritsch, Garlett)

28 trades. Any thoughts for trades this week, which suits my team? Cheers

  18. Ando says:

Hey Community! Who has the best JS and scoring potential out of Crowden, Henry, Ratugolea, and Higgins?

I'm thinking Crowden has the best JS, with Henry obviously having the highest ceiling so far of any of them.

  19. Will says:

    Community I still need help,
Walters or Mclean – I cant split them

  20. Crowboy94 says:

    Okay have changed my mind.
Trade out Ryan and leaving Merrett as he will come good!

  21. BrownlowBoy says:

Don't know if anyone said this, but well done Damo, great debut!

  22. Trav says:

Guys thinking ablett and brayshaw or banfield to coniglio and michael walters. What do you think?

  23. Sean says:

Will Ryan still increase in price even while he is out?

    • Defying_Madness says:

      ???

    • SW Roosters XXX says:

Of course he does – he should be between 400k to 500k by the time he returns in Rd 14 – providing he has health insurance

    • Derek says:

      No mate.

He has to play games to increase in value.

Time to trade. Can’t hold him for 12 weeks

      • Moosehead says:

Derek. If you had Ryan, would you go for Crowden, Henry or wait for Higgins to see how he goes. Since none of them have great JS, would it be smarter to wait despite not having a forward bench?

    • Simo says:

Players only move after their 3rd game and each game they play after that. If they beat their BE (break even) they will go up. If they don’t beat their BE they will go down. In the unlikely event they hit their BE, they won’t move. So someone with a high BE is likely to be cheaper after the next few games they play (like Z Merrett who I am holding grr) and someone with a negative BE or less than what they have been averaging, still has cash to make for you.

  24. Mal says:

Got McGovern and zerret, after a few rage trades and reversing, I’m keeping zerret and looking at restructuring, thoughts on

McGovern > Richards (4 backline rookies)
Brayshaw > titch (zerret becomes m6)

Gives me more points per week and stems $ bleeding.

    • DavidSA says:

      Bleeding cash?
Question – did you start with them for stepping stone purposes or as a premo?
      Are they injured?
It's a long season and many good-great players can have a purple patch and average 110+ over 5 played.

  25. finn says:

so is Liam Ryan who is injured or luke Ryan

  26. Richard says:

    Armitage OUT Crowden IN
    Ryan OUT Henry IN
What are your thoughts on these trades community

    • Tyruddanaut says:

I’m not too keen on Crowden, I’d prefer possibly Higgins (shaky JS) or Rategoulia, but it’s your choice

    • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

One up one down unless you are building a war chest to grab an uber premo.

But with the money gained from trading armo you could go Ryan up to a premo fwd.

  27. gator59 says:

    Yes and pocket some cash

  28. Tyruddanaut says:

For everyone saying that Henry has poor JS, remember he just went up 2 spots in the best 22, with 3 injuries on Sunday and Duncan returning. He should be around 19/20th, so there has to be three or four players coming in now for him to be removed

    • SW Roosters XXX says:

get your point but not sure that is how selection works mate……
More factors come into than that……

      • Tyruddanaut says:

I’m just saying, there is one out in each line, back, mid and forward. When Taylor returns, he’ll move back, Gregson will be removed and Ratogolea will be moved to a permanent forward. In comes Smith to fix that. Selwood will be moved to a midfield position and Menegola will also move forward.
Pretty much the entire line gets moved forward to fill these positions.

      • Rabbits16 says:

What factors will come into his selection? I am really keen to know as i'm considering Henry in for the injured Ryan?

    • SC_Sixty6 says:

Disregard Roosters comment. He's upset with his rank. I only see Henry in as Guthrie is out. Ablett and cockatoo make no difference with his JS.

      • SW Roosters XXX says:

Definitely disregard that comment as it was completely nonsensical… In fact people should only listen to yourself as you are the guru…

Only reason you are not on top of the rankings is your ill fated run of injuries that you continually refer to….

Of course you are the only one entitled to comment as you have the unsubstantiated claim of being a perennial top 100 finisher to validate your comments which are always 100% on the money…

You should be getting paid as a SC consultant mate – why are you wasting your time on a free site – we are not worthy……..

        • SC_Sixty6 says:

I do it for the love Rooster. Money isn't the be all end all mate. More in life than money. Just another tip. You're welcome!

        • here we go says:

He is a Goose Rooster don't fall into it. If you met him in a pub or at a party what would you do? I would dismiss his childish antics and mingle elsewhere. When he starts his podcast I'll go take a dump in his honour.

          • Sc_Wow says:

Do you post anything else here we go? Or do you just look out for 66 and and my profile and ‘try’ to bag us out. Rooster is silly it can been seen on another thread

            • SC_Sixty6 says:

Sc_Wow the bloke is the biggest troll out. Clearly we have given him advice when he used a different name. He hates it because he didn't listen.

Now he trolls under here we go. The funny thing is Rooster called me out to out my money where my mouth is. I wagered 5k that I beat him overall…..it's looking like he's lucky he pulled out….even when he called me out.

              • SW Roosters XXX says:

Yeh you wagered 5K… I can remember you following up on that post with me personally.. I definitely reneged on that bet as you were so genuine about it… What a legend you claimed to bet 5K…. Get over yourself mate…..

                #captaincoachoftheflogs

            • SW Roosters XXX says:

How am I silly? Just because me or someone else doesn't agree with your opinion or methodology make us silly?

So no one is allowed to have an opinion other than yourself and your bumboy SC_Sixty6(7,000)…….

Everyone who doesn't have a similar structure to you is wrong and no one is allowed to try a different structure than the status quo???

              • Sc_Wow says:

You personally are silly, Bon at D1 says enough.
And again with the name calling and insults.
Keep checking JR experts, you won't get close to me

      • Scouser says:

Thought Guthrie and Henry both played at the weekend and that he was in due to Taylor and Henderson?

    • Holty says:

True. I would be more looking at the fact he was selected for rd1, only missed rd2 due to a concussion from rd 1 and was rushed straight back for rd3. They obviously rate the kid and he hasnt done anything on the field to suggest otherwise.

      • hedski says:

        My thoughts exactly Holty.

      • THE SALTSHAKER says:

yeah they do early rnd draft pick last year, big talk on him coming internally if the SC podcast is to be believed.

Dont think key position rookies are the best sc wise though. Thats what folks were saying about Naughton. I like the Big Cat Rat, best new bigman rookie ive seen in yonks ahead of Rocca or Barry Hall when they started, very impressive, good hands on a lead.

        14d 8m, 2 goals 7ho vs NicNat

  29. What_Bear says:

    Hi Guys,

Can't decide what trades to do

Option 1 – Lobb to any forward (Franklin, Walters, McLean, Smith) , Ryan to Richards (Via DPP)

Option 2 – Lobb to Crowden and Ryan to Tom Mitchell, 2 playing rookies in the forward line (Fritsch and Garlett)

    Thanks in advance

  30. Dice says:

Bloody stuck here – any thoughts on what to do.

    J. McGovern to E. Richards and D. Armitage to T. Mitchell worth it??
I'm trying to hold trades as last year I ran out.

I really want to hold McGovern but he's not getting enough footy

    • Swans2012 says:

I'm holding…..just…. last year he played a bit more mobile even pinch hitting in the ruck but this year with dog dog and Lycett back is more fixed in the defense, I still think that's where he scores best so worth another couple weeks….it only takes a 140 for that average to be back to respectable….although I've got t Mitchell so not dealing with that problem!

  31. Swans2012 says:

I have some cash so Ryan out gives me an opportunity I think,

    Ryan to Henry,
Brayshaw to (with a bit of swing) anyone on any line to $483k

im playing only the good three defensive rooks on field (Murray, finlayson, and doedee), the two reliable mid rooks (kelly and Holman), and two forward rooks (Frits and garlett or English).
I think it's the forward rookies that are bleeding the most points so I'm seriously considering hogan, high risk/high reward, up the ground a bit, I think he might be the one……

Open to suggestions though, also considering the other l Ryan although it means finlayson is wasted on The mid bench and I'm still playing a pair of spud forward rookies…

    Interested in thoughts..

    • The Ranger says:

In a similar situation Swans and I certainly think the fwd line is the one to look at first this year as we have some good rookies in the mids and def.

    • Derek says:

      Hogan is now $438k.

If he was still $380k he would be in my team to replace Lobb.

But $438k is starting to be a keeper?

Dees have Hawks and Tigers next two, both big pressure teams, Hogan and his size might be perfect for there midfield. After that they have a very easy run, plenty of goals maybe.

I don’t think he will have any bad scores.

      Ok, I don’t know. It’s just too hard…… <walks away>

      • Tyruddanaut says:

Lobb is only out for one week maximum. Hold

      • Swans2012 says:

Thanks derek yeah it's tough, I think I'll take a punt on him and ride the rollercoaster for a month or two and see what happens. Seems a chance to average 95+ to me from here out…..

        • Derek says:

here Is a hypothetical for you.

I…… sorry, a friend of mine, has Venables, Ryan and Fritsch at D6, D7 & D8 and $180k in bank.

Rest of his forward line is Heeney, Billings, Devon, Petracca & Lobb.

Would you trade Fritsch BE -18, to a $102k rookie do you could trade Ryan to Hogan?

          Can’t use Venables only $140k.

Could also go Murray to a rookie to get cash?

Not that my friend would do it, I don’t think….

          • Swans2012 says:

It's tempting, gives you an em loophole at f6 while lobb recovers as well, but gee it is throwing caution to the wind….plenty more cash to make out of fritz, but I think we'll have plenty of $$$ this year for a change with smith, petracca and coniglio as cheap keepers and the rookies on a tear! It would be completely unlike you, ahem, your friend, though to do such a thing

    • Tyruddanaut says:

Devon Smith is still under that price. Top ten forward for sure.
Luke Ryan looks set to go and averages 104 in a compelling Fremantle side.
Mitch Wallis offer some a bit of risk/reward gaining 107 if one game
Charlie Curnow plays like a key forward in a bad team but scores like a general forward in a good team

      • Swans2012 says:

Thanks ty, already have dev, yeah I'm tossing up curnow and hogan, I think hoges fits the age bracket better though, wallis is on my burn man list and Ryan like you say looks the goods, but in the end I'd be playing say fritz and Ryan or hogan and finlayson, I think the latter duo scores better…..

      • The Ranger says:

Wallis is tempting with Libba out.

  32. TommyC99 says:

Which rookie should i get in: Crowden, Henry, Rats, Richards

and who should make way: Dow, Brayshaw, Keeffe, Ryan

I know ryan is out for a while, but since i have english at R3, like the option of ryan as a loophole. (Finalayson is in defence and keeffe is in defence)

    • Simo says:

      Keefe because he isn’t playing

    • Tyruddanaut says:

Ryan and Dow for Richards and Henry

    • Scouser says:

Like the loophole option with Ryan when you have English at r3 looks like his is is good for now so I'd be taking advantage of that for as long as it lasts and serves your team well.

I'd be looking at Richards and Henry personally and reckon the top priced rookies have to go as they're just not going to earn the $$ you need based on performances so far, Keefe might be an in also this week.

  33. Angus says:

Trading out GAJ and Ryan this week, should I bring in Devon Smith and Patty Cripps as I have the cash to do so, or save the cash and bring in Cripps/Parker and Henry/Crowden?

    • Tyruddanaut says:

Definitely the first option. Smith is looking as a top ten forward and so is Cripps who manages a 92 with a shocking effort

  34. cal_houn12 says:

I've managed to save 250k in the bank due to necessary corrective trades, meaning I could use that money to get rid of Liam Ryan straight up to a Jesse Hogan or Charlie Curnow, questioning if they both are the real deal though, and should maybe be conservative in bringing in Henry to build the bank more?

  35. DavidSA says:

I ate today and water is wet. Wonder if the sun will go down today?

  36. BadgerHoney7 says:

    Team currently:

Money in bank: 103,700 – Trades used: 4

Laird, Shaw, Sicily, Bonner, Doedee, Finlayson – Murray, Murphy

Danger, Dusty, Titch, Fyfe, Cripps, JOM, Kelly, Holman – Brayshaw, Barry, Banfield

    Gawn, Nic Nat – Olango

Billings, Heeney, Walters, Dev Smith, Christensen, Henry – Fritsch, Garlett

Really happy that I started with Nic Nat, probably best decision yet this year. Was happy with Jaegers performance on the weekend and I feel like he can possibly provided that most weeks. Traded out Ryan this week to Henry (Henry on the bubble so had to). Most worried about at the moment is Brayshaw and the fact I've used 4 trades so far, will have to hold trading for a couple then downgrade Brayshaw and probably upgrade someone like Christensen.

  37. GAZ says:

Def: Laird, Hurley, Hibberd, Finlayson, Murray, Doedee (Murphy, Naughton)
Mid: Danger, Titch, Zorko, Kelly, Fyfe, Brayshaw, Holman, Kelly (Barry, Brown, Banfield)
    Ruck: Kreuzer , Gawn (Olango)
Fwd: Heeney, Billings, Mundy , D Smith, Fritsch, Ryan (Giles Langdon, Garlett)
    Any Advice 30 trades still
    45K BANK

  38. Bob says:

    Do I go
    1. Ryan to Richards via garlett and finlaysons dpp and field Richards
    2. Ryan to J.Henry and field banfield or brayshaw

  39. JugHead says:

Haven't heard much chat about Coffield. Only one game so far of course, but his def/mid dpp would form a nice swing with Finlayson or O'Connor. Any thoughts on how he goes from here and his JS?

  40. TheGreatBozza says:

Who do we think are the best rookie options out of the following:

    Richards
    Higgins
    Crowden
    Henry
    Coffield

I've got Sicily at D3 so I'm leaning towards swinging Ryan > Richards, giving me some flexibility in my FWD line (having both Giles-Langdon and Ryan out long term)

  41. PJ King says:

Yes! Coriander. Finally, someone who agrees with me!

  42. Caleb says:

What to do with d. Fogarty…? Will he get a game again soon or not as lynch is back. Already traded Ryan to Henry this week.

Rooster and Sixty. Shut up. You are so boring, frustrating and selfish. Get each other’s email or phone number and thrash it out personally. You are cluttering up the Forum.
Patch. Can’t you simply delete their comments.

    • Crowboy94 says:

So very true. It's hilarious how worked up these morons get over a fantasy game 😂.

      • Sc_Wow says:

I only see rooster getting worked up, I'm just helping him realise he's no good. I guess you could hide the replies.
I'm sure you interpreted them incorrectly anyway Crowboy, you've got a history of that

        • Crowboy94 says:

You and 66 are both just arrogant pricks. Wow you good at supercoach, doesn't mean you have to put everyone else down that is struggling. This is a website for helping one another by giving good feedback not treating others like they are below You! Especially since it is just Fantasy football!

          • Sc_Wow says:

I don’t put anyone down? I give feedback and some people get upset about it. Then I stick up for myself. I point out people’s errors and shut them down pretty fast once they try to attack me.
People seek my feedback, not sure what you’re bringing to the table other than hating.

I'm entitled to reply to comments directed towards me surely???

I would have thought – the initial comment made by 66 (7,000) was unnecessary…
"Only here for the comments as I lasted 30 seconds in the podcast. Given up hope"

If that's his opinion so be it – plenty of people may share it but only one arrogant, self centred flog posted it….. How is that post helpful to anyone??

    • SC_Sixty6 says:

Don't like it? Don't read it! Just don't come crying for advice anywhere. Your lucky to have myself and Wow on board. Alot of people value our input and have taken advice.

Yep that's what I did – I ran away with my tail b/w my legs…
That 7,000 nearly 8,000 rank and 200 odd point differential is so intimidating……

  46. jordanandeddie says:

Remember when there were no trolls or excess negativity in these comments? And everyone was happy to provide constructive feedback, instead of vitriol and malice? Thanks to all who still maintain this attitude, and to Patch, Lek and the crew for all their hard work! I think we all need to take a step back, a deep breath, and remember, its Supercoach.
Still though, it has been one of those years where I started with Crouch, Ablett and Crozier… and yet somehow remain in top 3%

    • neil demons delight says:

Trev stopped all this boring shik on his sight very easily by allowing us to report them Three reports gone .NEVER any problems there fellas . I don't mind wow /66 insights but there are plenty as talented here without the crap GET BACK TO THE GAME DIALOGUE

  47. Doc says:

Thoughts on these trades lads: Ryan OUT Henry/Crowden IN, Lobb (if out for 2+ weeks) OUT McLean IN. Would leave me with $77-$84k.

  48. The underdogs says:

Who is the better choice mclean, hogan, one of the curnows

    • Crowboy94 says:

      McLean

    • joe says:

maybe mclean and even he has issues never been a great scorer over the years heeney 4 me

    • JackDee says:

I like McLean but the Dogs don't look great. He is probably the safe choice based on previous years scoring. Hogan is the one who might break out and be huge. Dees look good and his role is a ripper for supercoach. I wouldn't worry too much about Viney and McDonald returning Melbourne are obviously committed to putting Hogan wherever he can impact the play.

Curnows can play but I personally think it's a big ask for them in the Carlton team as things are now. Maybe a season early here

    • pod says:

If Hogan stays in his current role he will be a top 6-8 fwd. He is not an easy match up, he is a man mountain who moves quite well considering, and loves a goal. The only doubt is will Viney push him out when he returns. I don't think Goodwin will do that as Hoges is on fire and loving his footy atm.

      • JackDee says:

We've seen this role before for a key forward. Nick Riewoldt and Richo. They churned out great scores doing it. Melbourne look to be doing this. Every time a tagger goes to a mid such as Petracca or even Oliver last week they send that bloke forward and Hogan heads up the ground.

  49. Maverick_ says:

I apologise for this negativity but Jesus Christ people seriously need to start reading the thread & previous comments before asking your questions. The what to do with Liam Ryan questions been asked 100 times. Stop being so lazy and scroll down and have a Read. I have lobb and Ryan but u don’t see me asking because I will just read the other 100 people’s comments. Sorry for the rant but it’s needs to be said. I love the community, reading people’s thoughts & offering my opinions but we just need to cut out the lazyness

  50. Defying_Madness says:

Walters, Gray or McLean as a replacement for Lobb?
Or should I just go with a cheaper midpricer such as Hogan or Curnow.
    Cheers community

    • Maverick_ says:

Same situation and leaning to curnow. But I do have McLean he will go top 8 I hope, Get on!

      • Derek says:

McLean going well at the expense of the Bont.

The Bont attended 3 centre squares on weekend, one as the ruck.

Soon it will be worked out that he belongs in the guts

        • pod says:

Agree Derek. If the Dogs are keen to get back to near their best they need The Bont in the guts a lot more. Also Dahl had good mid time against the Bombers and performed like we know he can, just needed a goal or two to be a huge score. After the Dogs poor start, followed by the win on the weekend, I think we'll see both Dahl & Bont in the middle more often.

  51. Starky says:

Been looking at the thread and I really appreciate the insightful comments and the time people are taking to help the community.
Could we all just look to be positive in our comments as I feel it would help everybody.
I'll give 2 comments from an earlier post as an example:
'1. A good comment there by Damo about looking at why certain players score points at any given time' – Great point and helpful for future podcasts
    2. Patch is one of those guys as his response is ‘mmm’ and quickly moved onto a blabbering about other players scoring well – Just a really unnecessary comment with no value other than insulting someone.

I feel it would help everybody if we didn't take it to a personal place and we just commented on the football. Fairplay to Patch and Lekdog for their time and effort and not getting drawn into the negatives.

    • Sc_Wow says:

Think you missed the point of that comment. I really enjoyed where Damo was coming from, and was hoping that sort of analysis was going to continue because it’s constructive. I hope for more of it in the future, instead of just listening about players scoring points, doesn’t add much

Cant believe some think higgins has no job security ? the kid is a jet and will turn into a vital cog sooner rather than later, havent seen the confidence displayed since buddie arrived on the scene, come half way mark the kid will be dux of 2018 rookies

  53. TommyC99 says:

Crowden or Henry? Henry has shown to be a better potential scorer, but i like Crowden's DPP and JS better, and if he gets dropped, will prove to be a better loophole. Would love to hear your thoughts guys!

Thanks so much OO 😀 I asked this further down the thread but anyway I'll ask here as well.
Haven't had a chance to catch gold coast games. What is Jack Martin doing or where is he playing on field? Is he just going to be another Branden Matera? or has he got something more to offer?
I thought there was so much promis from him in the past and he is hitting that age of breakout. So i was ever so lightly considering him. But like I said I haven't had a chance to watch him in action, which I like to do.
Actually I should go and watch a replay lol.

  55. seen_burns says:

Is this smart or dumb, I have Liam Ryan injured, Nic Nat in the ruck and Olango on the ruck bench, thinking I trade in Tim English (who already had his price rise) for cover for Nic Nat just incase he gets rested at some point but English to make maybe another 100k, but also losing 80k with the trade but still keeping a captaincy loophole of Liam Ryan who can come back later in the year. Smart or dumb?

    • Derek says:

Whether English makes $100k or $200k you won’t be able to free up the cash without making another trade, therefore 2 trades wasted and $400k on the bench.

I like your thinking, but not a great idea.

If you had Haynes DPP already at R3, you can get English at F6 to cover two lines.

    • redherringfc says:

I like the idea of holding Ryan as a loophole option. It’s a long time to hold, but you could trade him out when you need.

Something i can look into to.

English is ruck/forward isn’t he? Do you have a link? few and far between.

  56. AB13 says:

I have 26 trades left, 2 this week and 432K in the bank.

Def: Laird, Hibberd, Sicily, Bonner, Doedee, FInlayson, Murray, Mihocek

Mid: Titch, Dusty, Oliver, Merrett, Coniglio, Jaeger, T.Kelly, Holman, Brayshaw (Fre), O'connor, Brown

Ruck: Gawn, Nic Nat and Olango.

FWD: Heeney, Smith (Ess), Petracca, Christensen, Stephenson, Fritsch, Rayner, Fogarty

    – Do I downgrade Brayshaw to Crowden, pocket an extra 100K with a bigger upside and a significantly lower BE?

    – And then go Rayner to Buddy?

    Any ideas?

  57. TBrab says:

    28 Trades & $392k in the bank.

    Ruc: Gawn, Nankervis (D Cameron)
Fwd: Franklin, Walters, Billings, Petracca, Ryan, Fritsch (J Garlett, Switkowski)

Need to shift Ryan (Obviously) but not sure who to or what other move to make if any???

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

C'mon fellas quit it already, this childish behavior is gone far enough. Fine SC_Sixty6 and SC_Wow you fellas are good at this game. But please be Humble about it, no need to carry on like kids.

Don't have to force anyone to take your advice, if no one wants to take your advice, then let it be their own mistakes, they'll learn from it.

Please come back when you have won the $50K until then. Effing shut it already.

    • SC_Sixty6 says:

I think you'll find Donkey the Rooster is the one with his knickers in a knot. Never once 'forced' people to take advice even though that's not even possible on a forum.

Not to mention 'here we go' a fake account plus numerous named accounts referring to myself or Wow name. They are the people that need to quit bashing on us.

Yes we give our opinion backed up with evidence so take it or leave it. Simple. It wouldn't surprise me the accounts that have a crack at us after all the speculation of us being one person is that the fake accounts are in fact one sad man being a keyboard warrior.

As a fact we have had people ask us for help or advice which there is proof back in previous threads no matter what people say.

      • SC_Donkey says:

Mate I've been on this site for a while, had a few run ins with some members, but i don't carry on about it.

That's why we are here. To help people out and if you've been around a while you can see when we provide our thoughts they are good enough to be taken into consideration.

          Can't please everyone.

      • SW Roosters XXX says:

Certainly give your opinion champ – not sure about the backed up with evidence claim though…

Instead all you do is try and stir sh** and big note yourself.

          Rooster give it up lol

          • Nuggety says:

The problem is Wow is that you are great at being a dhead. No one wants you here even though Patch is diplomatic about it. Sorry but true.
Maybe you can start your own website where negativity and bullishness equates to communtiy and comradery. Good luck.

            • Sc_Wow says:

Mate I’m just giving my opinion sorry if it’s offended you. I’ve never gone out of my way to refer to someone as a flog or a dickhead.
I don’t agree with you that no one wants me here. Hope you can try and add something to the community which is SC related and not just personal attacks. Cheers Nug

              • Nuggety says:

Based on Leks advice I'll try. You're probably a top bloke just used to positivity and community. My advice is that you won't always be right so when you present opinions as fact maybe you could fame things as perspective. This is constructive and good leadership not forcing the issue.

                • Sc_Wow says:

Most things I post has actually had research gone into it. For example the start of the year with bell and cox. I was getting frustrated with the excessive postivity that was leading people astray.
Hope you can see where I’m coming from in this sense

                  • Nuggety says:

I definitely do and your regular posts add value but by contributing as much as you do you are proposing yourself to be a leader on the site and you have given not enough thus far to earn enough respect to be able to do so. I for example am not a leader on the site as I dont consider myself as a. Enough of an expert or b. As someone annointed to be a leader such as Lek, Patch, INP, Damo or others.
This is why you attract the feedback that you do.

                    • Sc_Wow says:

I think I offer Something different to the site. I’m glad some benefit

    • THE SALTSHAKER says:

Dont know what the story is but this site is definitely carrying some trolls. They have been starting fights, looking for niggles, having a dig at some commentors post, at the persons advice etc it was just random

But this seems to have carried on directly and making multiple accounts to look like they have support. Posts with the person. Theyre trolling in the username. Look im not sure why? right or wrong? maybe these guys are rubbing folks wrong with the assuredness of their opinion?

Then again these trolls were just hanging shit on others teams etc without posting their own etc
      Multiple accounts is trolling.
Its all the same feel/vibe to it. Theyre kids.

To 66 and WoW you know the wrinkles, do not feed the trolls….if theres some advice to be had, report it, leave it t admins.
Furthermore SC is frrkn bingo on roids. If you have solid/sound reasoning then apply it, will speak for itself.

Admin, remove block, delete the nonsense. Its no good being up, regulars, long timers get shitty. For all u know it could be the competition looking to make things ugly now that the old stalwarts have moved on? Shut it down.

The community, see something you dont like report it.

To the trolls, its clear your nuts dont touch ya undies….but why troll Jockreynolds? when hands down the best trolling to be had is on Twitch…nothing better than hangin shit, being a serial pest in real time 🙂🎮🎮🎮🎮 theyre very serious about their subs they wont even remove you/block in the hope youll still sub. Its quite sad really. Youll love it.

Henry or Crowden community? Henry seems to have the higher ceiling and possibly better job security (he isn't coached by Ross Lying after all) however Crowden is cheaper and is also DPP. Gonna get one or the other but I'd just like to hear some arguments either way

    • THE SALTSHAKER says:

Ock, id love to see a report on CBAs (centre bounce attendance numbers for the week)

Maybe even a run thru of midfields. Who is pure mid? Are they tagging? Resting fwd.

      ie WESTERN BULLDOGS
Macrae 23 CBAs, TOG 91mins, Time spent fwd 0mins, 100% pure mid.
Tagged yes? no? Effected scoring yes? No?
Dangerous when fwd? Quiet? Score involvements.

      Rucks? HO to adv numbers?

      Def are they taking kickouts?

Also some draw analysis, hard runs, easy runs. For example last year nths mids coughed up more pts against than any other? This year they were saying Ess top 4 but teams are beating up on them.

      Some analysis….

  64. Gibbs says:

Trade or Hold Bradshaw? Already trading L.Ryan To Richards as my other trade

    • leedy says:

If you've still got Daniel Bradshaw in your team you are in serious trouble 🙂 I guess you mean Brayshaw? If so, I cant see him generating many scores above 60-65 at this point in time. In fact I'd hazard a guess that he is due for a rest, was quiet against Gold Coast. A Freo supporter I am but I have cut and run.

      • SC_Kev7 says:

I’d hold and go to the rookie rule of thumb. When his average meets his b.e then he goes.

        • leedy says:

Sound advice there Kev7 … also just saw interview with Lyon where he said (if you can believe him) idea will be to lighten load of rookies during the week to keep them out there so yep, wise to wring as many dollars out of Brayshaw before sending him off to the markets.

  65. Yo-Yo Yeo says:

Don't know who it was who brought him up in the off-season (Neil maybe) but I'm well and truly sold on Hogan now.
Forget the key forwards don't score well crap, this kid is special.
76 average in his 1st year, 78 in his 2nd. Only 68 in his 3rd but I think it's fair if we write this off as he battled injuries, cancer and family tragedy. I'm sold

    • SC_Kev7 says:

I’d like to see him play against better defence until I even consider him. Beat up North and Brisbane. Was okay against the Cats but still sub 80

      • Sc_Wow says:

        I agree Kev

        • Derek says:

he Has Tiger and Hawks next. Let’s see what he can do.

Then a very nice run of games

          • Yo-Yo Yeo says:

With all due respect Hawks aren't exactly world beaters Derek. As for the Tiges, he is the only forward I've seen that makes Rance nervous
Fair call Kev, but that sub 80 you speak of was a 79 and if that's what he gives against the better sides he should average 100 as he has already shown us his ceiling is 145+

    • neil demons delight says:

Actually not me strangely/.MY BIG MOVE was T macdonald but I did have 8 dees… Getting him now cheers

    • Whatyasmokin says:

I talked up Hogan and locked him in over the more mainstream pick in Petracca. But I also talked up Spuddy McCartin.

      • Russty_ says:

50% success rate, not too bad, :)…thing with Hoges is, if people wait too long, he'll be premo priced before long, best to have started him but this week he's still nicely priced.

        • SC_Donkey says:

I'm actually considering getting him, we have 4-6 weeks of his service before Tmac or Viney returns. And you never know he might keep his spot, if he continues the way he's going.

    • SC_Donkey says:

I think you're forgetting, Hogan is not playing as a key forward in the last 3 games. He has been playing in the guts, it is why he is scoring well.

Don't know how long he'll be playing in the mid, Tmac and Viney is about 4-6 weeks away. Just hope he keeps that role when those two comes back, otherwise Hogan will go up forward as a key player.

  66. Sava says:

Thought I’d bring in Seedsman for Armitage so that way Finlayson can swing from the bench to my m7 while Seedsman becomes my d5, next on the chopping block is Jeremy McGovern.. the big question is, will I regret holding him?

    • Tibor says:

Had a good hard look at the Seed last week and finally went in another direction with Bonner. I regret it at the moment the Seed may become a great pod pick up, Good luck to you if you bite the bullet and get Seedsman

      • Sc_Wow says:

Don’t expect too much from Seed. I’d be carful before locking him in he’s been up and down his whole career

        • Tibor says:

You're spot on WoW but he's had very little luck and plenty of injury. I've watched him play all games this year and there's a lot to like. Really awkwardly priced even before this weeks rise that's why I was up front about going elsewhere last week for my own team but the Seed played really well again.

He doesn't fit into what I'm doing now but he might be just right for someone else's plan and he just looked good. A sc friendly role in a strong side, be careful sounds ok but I wouldn't totally disregard

          • belly button fluff says:

I'm holding Armo. He is in a position where he can string two or three good games together gain a little value and be that stepping stone he is supposed to be. He isn't the best but he shouldn't lose money. I think like Wow said don't expect to much from Seeds. In fact I think you are just trading to another Armo with Seeds. He strung two games together maybe another coming but Armo will do that too. Then nothing.

            • Tibor says:

Fair bit of sense there BBF. I like the Seed as I said as a pod, The Seed Pod, that's almost funny…but I wouldn't chop Armo too quick either, St Kilda is a train wreck at the moment but should improve to some degree so a bit of upside to Armo. Saints getting bugger all from rucks could be big reason

    • THE SALTSHAKER says:

Yeo will be cheap in a few after his 26.

Seeds has been a potential sc breakout for years. Had some ripping games at Pies but lotta injuries. Id be reluctant to jump but then again breakouts arent my thing. Im more a proven performer/new roll type coach. Thats cos to predict the future you gotta look at the past to get an idea. Seeds needs a full season. Too risky but they say most changes in any line is def that most start outside the top 6 that year (the under 500k options). Or they are mid/dpp score well from midtime thru year finish top 6 then next season they lose dpp and no longer def. So its a great line to pick a smokie from, for me it was Savage that was gonna do this. So far so good.

The question i asked myself is will he improve 15sc? he avg 87. My answer was yes. That means 102sc . From rnd 16 last year once he got back in team, new rebounding role he avg 97 from his last 8 inc 5x hundys. Inc JLT that went up to 102sc over last 10. So it ticked the boxes.

Whats Seedsmans story this year benefitting from Smith injury? Levers departure? Kicking in duties?

  69. Frustrated says:

Dont want to trade as potentially thought he was top 8 backman so what to do with Hibberd ???
Will he or wont he ?

    • Lekdog says:

I think he's going to be disappointing if you compare his output to last year but it's still feasible he ends up as a top 8 defender, looked much better on the weekend. He should hover around $500K for the year so I don't really see a need to trade him

    • Tibor says:

Hold fire at this stage unless of course everything else is really great and you have trades to burn. We always talk about not sideways trading premos but as soon as the season starts away we go again. If he was playing really poorly then maybe move on him but he's going ok and the roles in that Melbourne defence are still evolving. Just my opinion but a little bit of patience might be rewarded here

    • TOPHAWK1 says:

Hold mate. Hibbo will improve as the season unfolds. He is a class player.

    • THE SALTSHAKER says:

Not taking kick ins, effecting scoring. Watch that see if its hurting him as they say it is. You can hold for a trade to Yeo who should drop a bit with that 26 in his 3 game roll avg.

  70. belly button fluff says:

Haven't had a chance to catch gold coast games. What is Jack Martin doing or where is he playing on field? Is he just going to be another Branden Matera? or is he got something more? Experts please 😀

  71. Saundo says:

Who are we all trading Ryan for?

  72. TOPHAWK1 says:

I have Ryan and ZG-Langdon in my forward line. Should I trade both out at once? BANG BANG for Henry and Crowden or another bubble boy? Got all 30 trades and my sole aim is to raise cash at the moment. Have no other other injured players. Any suggestions? Cheers community.

    • pod says:

      TH you should bang bang.

    • seen_burns says:

Heard something about Giles-Landon possibly coming back in a week or 2

    • SC_Donkey says:

I'd pull the trigger on Ryan, but hold on Langdon the bubble hasn't burst, should be back in a couple of weeks.

Not really sold on bringing both Crowden and Henry the same time, just worried they both get drop at the same time. Pick one for Ryan

      GL mate

      • TOPHAWK1 says:

Agreed 100% mate. ZGL does not have a soft tissue injury, just a minor bone fracture. I will bring in Henry for Ryan at this stage. My gut tells me that Crowden is not a lock with Ross Lyon. I know how that cat rolls.

  73. Mek says:

    Whos Bubble Boy

    • Russty_ says:

Hey Mek, a bubble boy is a rookie on the bubble which means they've played 2 games and will go up in price the following week, so if you want them before their price rise, you need to trade them in 'on the bubble'..it's just jargon.

  74. SC_Sixty6 says:

    ********TEAM REVEAL**********

Ill get straight into it so here it is!

Def- Bonner, Doedee, Finlayson, Murray, Richards, Murphy (O'Conner, Naughton)

Mid- Danger, Martin, Titch, Kelly, Ablett, Fyfe, Kelly, Holman (Banfield, Garlett, Barry)

    Rucks- Kruezer, Gawn (English)

Fwd- Franklin, Greene, Billings, Smith, Petracca, Taranto (Fritsch, ZGL)

So there it is, Team Reveal from an anonymous community member that has reached out to me, so I thought as I'm only one opinion I thought the community can help me out and what trades my little damsel in distress can do!

    Cheers community!

    • TOPHAWK1 says:

      WTF? Is that your side?

You sure you don't have multiple sides going (Under different aliases) in Super Coach? If you are, then trust me, you will be found out. And if so, you will end up on "The Heroes, the villains, and the damned" by Carlos.

      Be warned.

      Nice team though……….

    • belly button fluff says:

If I had that team I'd go Ablet to crowden, O'Conner to Laird. Plenty to be made from rookies 😀 Prolly hold after that. Unless green doesn't play again for that strain caused by to much hand play in the shower. Guessing no extra cash to play with.

    • Frogadoodle says:

So despite plenty of calls to stop from other members. The pointless behaviour continues. What is your motivation in trying to bully any contributors to this site that do not agree with you or choose to take a different path? You have your sidekick Wow and Rustty has become one of your lapdogs. I personally think what you are doing is disgusting and potentially dangerous.
Why not stop the head wobbling and telling everyone how good you are and just let your performance and contributions speak for themselves. Majority of your posts seem to be inflammatory and designed to provoke people that's regardless of who they are directed towards. Out of curiosity given you have this attitude of superiority what is your exact rank? Be surprised if there are not higher ranked coaches than yourself involved on this site who manage to post and contribute worthwhile and solid advice without being offensive.

      • Sc_Wow says:

I’m ranked 1.1k atm Frog. The only person I have a problem with on this site is Rooster. Calling people flogs and dickheads instead of talking about SC is getting personal and crossing the line. There is no way I’ve bullied anyone on here. Sure I’ve questioned people decisions, to challenge them to reflect and think about it. It is you people that are ‘hating’ that show rude and bully like behaviour.

        • Frogadoodle says:

Nice one mate, solid start with the ranking – But I didn't ask for your rank Wow? Not sure why you felt the need to tell me? I was curious as to the rank of 66. It seems you boys are obsessed with trying to tell me people how good you are. Just let your rank and actions speak for themselves.

I think you are overstating your own importance and have just appeared on this site with a view to force your opinions down peoples necks, hence why you are getting pushback from not only Rooster but also other members. This is a forum for discussion about a game of fantasy football – not a place where people need or want to be challenged or reflect? Not sure why you think you need to challenge people? Get a grip, people face enough challenges with work, family, health etc… Don't come here to have you and 66 act like you own the place and are superior to everyone. Why can you not just offer advice and contribute in a respectful and purposeful manner. Let your ranks and quality of your posts build your credibility and reputation instead of self praise and turning on people who dare question you. I think you are kidding yourself if you are only blaming Rooster for the epic thread yesterday – there is little doubt the first post made by 66 was personal, unnecessary and crossing the line in relation to the podcast. Similarly many of your posts and written in such a way and context that you are "fishing for bites" and trying to start spot fires. Not sure what other people think but I would appreciate if it stopped and that you just contribute respectful, honest and to the point advice without being arrogant and condescending. The main perpetrators yesterday were Rooster and 66 and both of them share equal blame in my view. I am no morals police but are just sick of the shit.. Its game that is meant to be fun – that people play for many different reasons – some to rank as high as they can obsessively, others to just have an interest in the footy, some to try and win a league at work or at the footy club. It is a massive cross section so just go about your business without forcing your ambitions and motives on to everyone else. Site has been around for a long time and one of its distinguishing factors over other forums was there was none of the crap that has crept in since you and 66 appeared. Not blaming you entirely but you two boys are one of the common denominators. If your intentions are good as you claim and your skill set is as good as you claim then just back off a fraction – stick to giving good advice and everyone will be better off.

          • Sc_Wow says:

When you labelled me as a sidekick I thought that post was directed at me also, so thought I’d share my rank.
Yeah fair enough everyone takes it a different way I guess, just trying to spark critical thinking. I’m not going to go after anyone on here, it’s not what I’m about. I will defend myself if people start throwing out personal attracts though.

        • BVB21 says:

wow and 66 have provided some valuable information here.

Wow and 66 are direct but personally think that most of the bullying has been directed at them because people can’t handle the truth.

Honestly some of the advice on this forum is terrible and it’s fine people can have their opinion but their are people in bottom 50% given advice and that is more damaging than anything wow and 66 have said.

          • Sc_Wow says:

            Cheers BVB
That’s exactly it, at the start of the season I was seeing so much advice that was just going to lead people astray.
Not here for personal attacks, like you said we have had a lot of that directed towards us with fake profiles etc.

          • Frogadoodle says:

Mate I agree that most of the advice given by WOW & 66 is solid advice – but plenty of other people give solid advice without the carry on and chest beating.

Certainly don't think the dig at the quality of the podcast was worthwhile or of any benefit other than to start a shit fight – which it ultimately did. I think WOW & 66 have plenty to offer just need to cool the jets a bit.

Also agree there is plenty of terrible advice given – but nobody has to take that advice and if you know what you are doing you wouldn't take such advice.

It's your own team so make your own decisions.

As I said don't agree with Rooster structure but it least he has made his own call and with some better luck could easily be ranked quite competitively.

Three of the rookie backs are averaging over 80 (2 over 90) so it hasn't actually been that part of the side that has let the team down. In fact not sure could have expected too much more out of an all rook backline – biggest issue I see is being able to upgrade them all depending on what backline downgrade options pop up (or don't pop up)

If a few of the premo selections had have come off eg Billings, Kreuzer & Greene then the side would be going quite well early doors.

Liard is a keeper and was always going to be but if you have decided to try an all rookie backline that becomes irrelevant – rightly or wrongly….

There is an element of skill and luck to this game – what the percentages of do you need more skill and luck is the million dollar question, but whoever wins it will certainly have to have their fair share of luck and skill…

            • BVB21 says:

I agree you need some luck but it’s definetely a skill game.

You learn fundamentals, then you learn advanced concepts. The last step is being able to find improvements on what the mainstream advanced strategy is. Being the innovator rather then the follower.

People are quick to say here’s my team, should I trade player a or b. But they never give any reasoning to their thought process.

Like my team for instance. I choose to not include cogs at the start of the season because I felt that even though he could be a premo (he could’ve made that leap last year before his injury but it was Kelly who did and also GWS has a stacked mid) that Cripps and Parker had been their before and were a safer option and didn’t want to have 3 mid pricers in my midfield.

So I am happy with my decision based on the info I had.

But I don’t know why anyone picked Naughton. His JS was better than some rooks but he is a key position defender and was never going to score well.

Their was a great article on rookie ROI so when I see teams with LDU, Rayner, Dow, Naughton, Stephenson etc I just shake my head.

If you are going to spend money on expensive rookie then he needs to be a stand out in pre season. I didn’t choose brayshaw (I went L.fogarty as his record at u18 champs was superb) but I could forgive this choice as he did look good pre season.

Some people ask questions like should I bring in acres? Why? Because he had 3 good games?

People need to do some research on why? Is he getting goals? Is he getting more ball? Are players out injured? Have they had good fixtures? Why is he doing better this year?

Wow and 66 probably getting frustrated people just asking for help but contributing nothing.

This is what happens. Lazy people ask silly questions or give bad advice. Wow and 66 expose that. Person gets upset starts calling them names (arrogant etc) that’s why they say their ranking to show this person they know what they are talking about but lazy/novice player has such big ego and doesn’t want to hear it and makes it personal

              • pod says:

Agree with some of your post although Naughton is only 3 games in so give him a chance he'll pump out some respectable scores.

Also, I believe this forum is for everyone including the people who ask 'silly' questions. If you don't like the question you can choose to ignore it and move on. Cheers and happy SC'n to all.

              • Sc_Wow says:

          • Sc_Wow says:

            Thats wht she Saad

            Go for it

            • kim says:

Nice team overall mate, i count 23/30 players we have that are the same. Mclean (you) versus Billings (me) has cost me at the moment and not starting cogs as well (although i have him now for brayshaw as it was costing me 40-60 points per week, 92 just last week and was 6k short of bringing him in after round 2). You are about 200 points ahead of me, so good start to the year. Good trades and bye structures will be key from here on out.

              • Sc_Wow says:

Yeah defensive rookies looked solid enough to go 6 deep in mids. Been hot on McLean all off season, he’s going well.
Hope you’ve got danger and won’t need to scramble like most to get him in

                • kim says:

No unfortunately i do not, with ablett injured i expect him to play more midfield while he is out which is good for people like you who have him. I will monitor in the next 3-4 weeks he is obviously my first upgrade target for holman once he reaches about 350-400K but i know i will have to make probably 2 rookie downtrades as well depending on how dander scores in the next few weeks. If he started rd 1 he was in my team, took a risk not starting him so far its paying off, not sure if it still will in the next 3-4 weeks, only time will tell i guess!

                  • Sc_Wow says:

Yeah feel like I’m now ahead in the upgrade game after starting him. Still avg 115 and hasn’t got going yet. Watch out

                    • SC_Sixty6 says:

Spot on wow. Danger basically a pod at that ownership. Danger Vs saints at the cattery. Danger historically doesn't play well against saints but it'll be different story down at Geelong.

                    • kim says:

Yeah definitely ahead in terms of upgrades as i think you also had mitchell and martin who are both doing very well also. I am happy that i have nailed all 3 vc/c so far this season had martin rd 1, mitchell rd 2 and fyfe rd 3 (although was going to pick martin over mitchell as c rd 3 if fyfe loophole didnt work out so dodged a bullet there).

What are you doing with liam ryan Sc_Wow, trading him out? And if so who too? I got rid of him for crowden as i like the dpp but was tossing up between him and henry for geelong but wasn't sure of JS when henderson and a few others get back.

                    • SC_Sixty6 says:

Guthrie is out for 8 weeks. Henry JS looks solid.

                    • THE SALTSHAKER says:

key def rookie…wasnt that the naughton argument?

                    • Sc_Wow says:

Yeah Ryan is out for too long to hold him, I went with Henry in the end, shows good scoring potential and has a 93 in his system. Not to concerned as I think there are other ahead of him for the chopping block and I'll probably use him as my first upgrade.

                    • Great fact hunt says:

That’s awesome gentlemen. Great informative chat while not slagging each other. Keep it up you clearly have some good thought sc thoughts and can be very helpful. Have a great day and may all your players tonne up

      • Russty_ says:

Yeah right, speaking of negative, offensive comments..you think it's ok to call me a Lapdog? I'm nobody's Lapdog pal.
Try following your own self righteous advice.

    • BVB21 says:

How much money do we have 66?

GAJ our would be first priority I would think and then Naughton upgrade as well.

This team is too unbalanced. Too many defensive rooms and not enough forward rooks.

That have been unlucky with Kreuzer, GAJ and Greene injuries but it’s going to be a long season.

Starting without Laird seems like a big mistake as well. He was always going to be a keeper.

    • Frogadoodle says:

So as to stick to the topic of the thread even though I think it has questionable intentions and not sure why JR community member feels the need to post another members side.

Is that side really so bad?

The complete rookie backline is not SC 101 that is for sure but is that such a bad thing to try something different?

Scores likely to be up and down dependent on performance of them back rooks and also think there will be some issues with being able to upgrade all of the back rooks to premiums depending if there are enough backline downgrade options appearing at the right time across the season.

Apart from that not sure anyone can question the validity of the other lines. Billings has underachieved, Greene & Kreuzer output been hampered by injury and Gazza hammy twanged. If those players had of hit expected output then side could be travelling reasonably well.

I'm not a fan of the structure but can see the logic behind it. Not sure Rooster can be blamed for those selections such as Billings, Greene & Kreuzer that have not worked as yet – although could argue Ablett was long in the tooth and bound to get injured, also Greene had limited pre-season which always spells danger…

Every chance that Billings & Kreuzer come good.

Not a Taranto fan if was brought in after the season started which I think is the case. But anyone who started with Taranto could be well pleased that he will be an easy stepping stone to a fallen premium or a potential keeper as a F7/M9.

      • BVB21 says:

Yes I think the side is pretty bad.

It’s not the worst I’ve seen obviously but Finlayson, Doedee and Murray have done exceptionally well.

I intended to start all three on field as I thought if they could average 65-70 would be good enough but they are all averaging well above that.

But their was no other rookies that should ever have started on field down back. Bonner should have been D3 at a minimum.

Also choosing Taranto over Maclean seems strange and that extra midfield money on GAJ when Cripps, Parker, Cogs all looked good in pre season. Really don’t think it was justified.

    • Kim says:

I am interested to know two things 66. 1) if this is indeed rosters side and 2) did he want you to post it for him and get some advice or did you just take the liberty of posting it without their permission?

      • SW Roosters XXX says:

That would be the second option Kim……….

66 posted it as yet another example of trying to stir trouble and big note himself – he claims to continue to have good intentions yet continues to display Flog like qualities….

Why would I want 66 to post my team??

You people are telling me nothing I don't know – The fact is I intentionally tried a different structure this year – It is a game remember….

Understand all the shortcomings of all rookie back six and yes they will all have to be upgraded at some stage – but all are making plenty of $$$ so cash generation will not be a problem – but finding suitable downgrades in backline potentially could be.

Not sure what all the fuss is I could have easily started with similar structures as the herd but wanted to try something different – it hasn't been the back six that has let me down more so Kreuzer, Billings & Greene……. The reality is the back rookies have been the best performed rookies save for Holman & Kelly in the mids and Ryan who is know injured…..

As it stands this terrible team and structure is only just over 200 points behind 66 whos rank in nearly 8,000 so not sure what all the fuss is about…..

Ablett will be traded for obvious reasons but I will stick fat with Kreuzer, Billings & Greene see no point in burning trades on these players and would rather back them in to get it going at some stage sooner rather than later……..

Happy to hold Taranto all year and use his DP for F7/M9

Pretty early to be writing this team off – but appreciate the feedback even though I didn't ask for it……

        • kim says:

All good rooster i don't see any reason to defend your team or structure for that matter as you said we take risks and some come off and some do not. I took a risk with kruzer in starting team instead of stef martin, cost me a trade and points, thats life. Also took a risk not starting danger like 83% of other super coaches, so far it has been ok. I have a bad feeling that with ablett injured he will start averaging 140+ now with more midfield time but who knows he could just as easily ping his hammy again and score 40 against the saints.

My main regret was not starting cogs after his good JLT form, went kelly instead but my 5 premo mids (with brayshaw on field) instead of 6 with cogs has cost me over 200 points with that one structure mistake. But after Brayshaws JLT form thought he could average 70-80 with hasn't panned out. Still happy with my team so far and with a little luck i can get up the rankings in the next few weeks which is what happened last year. Went from 15,000 to inside top 2,000 from rounds 4-5. Anything can and does happen in this crazy supercoach world!

          • pod says:

Well said kim good constructive feedback is so much better.

Rooster your team isn't bad just a few adjustments when rookies fatten up and fit players scoring to potential will see you rocket up the rankings.

Personally I hope you swamp a few blokes on here later in the season . Good luck.

            • SW Roosters XXX says:

No dramas pod & kim appreciate your posts – I am more than happy prosper or fail from my own actions rather than seek advice and follow other peoples decision making – what will be will be but always want to control your own teams destiny………

I certainly don't think my team is all that bad……. Have a little cash warchest so will be able to start the upgrades down back when the time is right….. Other than form and injury issues all the other lines can just plod along for a while yet……….

Hopeful of a bounce back from Kreuz & Billings this week and the return of Greene from injury will help as well….. Them three alone will hopefully bolster scoring this week…..

Don't think I will languishing at 30,000 come the end of the year, but what would I know – would have to defer that opinion to 66 as he is the doyen of SC.

              • SC_Sixty6 says:

I never said your team was bad Rooster. But you were asking for more of my wisdom so I decided you can take everyone's wisdom in with positive feedback.

But as I read you just said "you people are telling me nothing I don't know"

That's the attitude that myself and Wow are dealing with when we post with constructive criticism with possibilities to follow. You apparently are no different to myself as that statement says 'you know all' when I've never said anything along those lines……

I haven't asked for advice, but I've never put my foot forward and said "you people are telling me nothing I don't know"

I'll pencil you in for the 50k. Well done Master!

              • Sc_Wow says:

Carnage Roost, Kelly and Murphy out. No good

    • Kim says:

In regards to advice the main issue is going to be cash generation as deep fwds and mids, first upgrade has to be in def. all 6 of those defenders will need upgrading at some stage. Might want to get rid of Kruzer to Nic Nat to free up some cash to upgrade def rookie in a few rounds time. Don't think kruzer has overcome his groin niggle and will leak cash soon, scoring not good either. Nic Nat will soon be playing more game time and has killed it off limited game time so far.

    • Kim says:

Gaz to cogs also get you another 100k plus and I think gary is going to miss 3-4 weeks? Cogs scoring like a top 8 mid at the moment, don't see him slowing down anytime soon. A lot doubted mark Murphy last year (me included) and said he wouldn't be a top 8 mid and we were all wrong. I feel cogs is this years mark murphy.

  75. Hawks says:

    Appreciate the communities thoughts.

I have $254.5k in the bank, and need to trade Liam Ryan (don't we all), so I have $448.5k available to spend on a FWD.

Tossing up between Hogan (although he hasn't player the top sides yet), Sicily (who may average 95, but will be inconsistent as he loses the plot and gives free-kicks away) or a rookie like Garlett (and save cash for the inevitable Dangerfield trade in a few weeks),

  76. pasta stRayner says:

I've saved my trades until now, but I am having second thoughts about Whitfield being able to average 110,.. struggled to get the numbers in his first two games with huge last quarters. I'm considering Ryan to Richards and Whitfield to Hogan (tinkered with starting him pre-season and didn't have the KAHUNAS some people did!)
Do we think that's too much of a sideways trade or a "corrective" trade in the assumption Whitfield won't finish top 10 and Hogan with his new midfield role might? Also gives me $200k in the bank for a fallen Yeo/Danger in a few weeks.

    DEF:
Laird, Savage, Tuohy, Doeedee, Finlayson, Murray (Naughton, Richards)

MID: Mitchell, Oliver, Fyfe, Parker, O'Meara, Kelly, Holman, Banfield (Brayshaw, Garlett, Barry)

    RUCK:
    Gawn, Goldy (Cameron)

    FWD:
Greene, Mclean, Billings, Smith, Hogan, Sicily (Fritsch, Keefe)

    • Russty_ says:

Hey pasta, not sure if your fwd line needs to be that strong, cause your midfield is lacking a bit, I had Whitfield too, choosing him over cogs and cripps, should've gone cogs, but Whitfield being 57 at 3/4 time in his second game and then this latest score, made me jump off and upgrade to Dusty.
I reckon just go Ryan to Henry and whitfield to Dusty or Danger, although Danger will drop in price next 2 weeks.
I wouldn't like 3 rookies in my mids, even though 2 of yours are going very well, they're the only two I'd want onfield.

      • pasta stRayner says:

Shoulda gone Cogs!! Know the feel!
I can't afford to go to Dusty or Danger this week from Whitfield.. I'm waiting two weeks for Danger to drop a little..

I was thinking whether Hogan + Banfield would outscore Whitfield v Fritsch though, and it could be close.

    • Derek says:

Last thing your team needs is another mid-price breakout

Hold Whitfield. If he continues to stink go straight to a fallen gun premium, Yeo.

  77. Bob says:

    Peoples thoughts on LDU

    • Russty_ says:

Hey Bob, you could either hold and have faith he'll start scoring enough to make some money or dump him cause he appears to have stagnated with price growth, for one of the rookies this week and make some cash for future upgrades.

      • Bob says:

Would you keep brayshaw or LDU

        • Russty_ says:

I think Brayshaw because he's had 2 half decent scores for a rookie and one not so good, and LDU has has one decent score and 2 terrible scores. You could get rid of both if you have Garlett in the forward line…for Henry and Crowden..or Richards if you have finlayson in the backline.

    • SW Roosters XXX says:

My thoughts are it sounds like an illicit drug………..

  78. Wally Brando says:

I have Tim English, is it worth trading in Sam Hayes (Port) who is RUCK/FWD to have a floating donut for both captain and F6/emergency loophole? Currently have no loophole and need to offload Giles Langdon anyway. Intention would be to keep Hayes all season. Would also allow me to use English as bench cover in both positions. Only cost appears to be a small amount of cash generation.

    • INPieman says:

ZGL well ahead of schedule. Likely to be back next week. Hang on if you can

    • belly button fluff says:

Interesting thing about Hayes. I looked at him or olango for loops. It turned out that while Olango had more Sunday games Hayes gave me more chances of picking a vc before a sunday c. I think it was only one week where it wouldn't work b4 round 12. So I picked him anyway with the added bonus of Getting someone like english later if I wanted to. Haven't done that though. Pretty happy with Hayes still.

    • Derek says:

do you have English at R3?

  79. Yo-Yo Yeo says:

Any mathematicians out there (or Gold subscribers) that can tell me what Armitages's break even is?

  80. Kyle says:

Awesome. Will probably go for the trade.
Whats your opinion on crowden or henry pick. Looking for some cash but also a spot for a good scorer.

  81. Steeeve says:

Thinking Ryan to Henry (and bring Ryan back in when/if he returns).
Then I'm not 100% but considering Brayshaw from Freo out for Ed Richards.

Is that second one worthwhile or a wasted trade?

  82. Madman says:

Caleb Marchbank and Liam Ryan injured. Should i go sideways to Sicily or Luke Ryan? or get some kitty in the bank and go with Richards. The Liam Ryan go down to Jack Henry or Crowden.
In two minds some outside perspective might be helpful

  83. Jimmy says:

I ever rarely sideways trade but I feel like an addict who can’t resist on this one: Hibberd out, Gibbs in…I move Finlayson in Hibberds spot. What should I do?

  84. John says:

Is Armitage worth keeping (seeing he has actually increased in price)? Or is Armo to Seedsman worth a look?

  85. Duckky says:

Given just how well the bombers are playing – should I put every port reserve (ie Barry) onto the field this week?

  86. Baggy Pants says:

Whisper out that Zac Giles-Langdon is tracking ahead of schedule and could potentially be back as early as next week.

  87. Fisherdann says:

    Higgins dropped.

  88. Mek says:

    How long Kelly out for

    • Sana says:

Sam McClure thinks more than a week. But he can't be trusted. I'll be holding until a more reliable source provides some insight.

  89. Ryan says:

    KELLY > MACRAE??

  90. Kanga Cats says:

    J.Hogan 437 {BE -10}
    or
    D.Smith 451 {BE 71}

Who will average higher for the season?
Are they just gonna average 90's? If so it it better to wait, get more cash for a R.Gray, L Franklin type?

455 thousand after L.Ryan traded out
Current FORWARDS ARE > Heeney, Greene, Mundy, Petracca, Fritsch, Ryan, (Venables, Langdon)

  91. scrotum says:

Well i put cooler on Higgins, but i can do it to anyone far out, lucky could have been next week when we all bought him in so gives us all food for thought,
Any one want my quaddie tips, i can guarantee you three legs lol.

  92. Harrison Lees says:

What do you guys think I should do with Zach Merrett he isn't scoring and I can't decide for who I will put in

  93. Dan says:

    Hey guys,
What would be my best move?
I'm trading out Hunter Clarke (stk). I can replace him with a mid or defender. My options are:
    1. Ed Richards
    2. Coffield
    3. Crowden
    4. O'Shea
    5. L. Fogarty

  94. Gsal says:

    #SC18Carnage

Now with kelly out indefinite who would be the best bet to bring in –
    Oliver
    Gibbs
    Sloane
    Pendels
    Franklin
    Macrae
    Llyons
    Jselwood
    Wines
    Cripps

  95. Aquaduck says:

should i get jack henry or ratugolea in for ryan this week?

  96. D_I_L_D_O_R says:

Sorry if its been asked, but does anyone know anything about the injury to Murphy? Is it long term, should we be looking to hold or trade the rook?

  97. Clayt says:

Gray v Walters for F5. Someone pitch me! (note: already have heeney, devon, mclean & billings). Can't afford Greene or Buddy

  98. Mitch says:

    J. Kelly to Titch or Coniglio

  99. Damien says:

Any advice on Armitage? Need to trade him out. Got 463k in bank. Cheers

  100. JAL says:

What do I do with Zorko and what is wrong with the man?? Time to give him the flick or hold?
