Hello everyone, and welcome to the Round 5 rookie scout report.

It’s been another fun and frustrating week in Supercoach (seriously frustrating, my team SUCKS!), but as the great Malcolm Blight once put up on the whiteboard, “18”, that is, there’s still 18 weeks to go in this season, so there’s still plenty of time for the ship to be turned around if you’re struggling early on.

So let’s go look around the joint and see how these rookie players performed last week.

West Coast VS Sydney

Will Schofield

DEF | SC Price: $258,000

Round 4 Stats: 10 disposals, 4 marks, 42 SCPoints, 30 CKPoints

Nathan Vardy

RUC | SC Price: $294,300

Round 4 Stats: 10 disposals, 2 marks, 22 hitouts, 54 SCPoints, 67 CKPoints

Harrison Marsh

DEF | SC Price: $264,900

Round 4 Stats: 19 disposals, 2 marks, 3 inside 50’s, 81 SCPoints, 54 CKPoints

Nic Newman

DEF | SC Price: $206,700

Round 4 Stats: 19 disposals, 4 marks, 3 clearances, 5 rebound 50’s, 80 SCPoints, 71 CKPoints

Jordan Foote

MID/FWD | SC Price: $197,900

Round 4 Stats: 9 disposals, 4 tackles, 1 goal, 51 SCPoints, 45 CKPoints

Robbie Fox

MID/FWD | SC Price: $ 156,500

Round 4 Stats: 11 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 inside 50’s, 59 SCPoints, 47 CKPoints

Oliver Florent

MID/FWD | SC Price: $196,400

Round 4 Stats: 8 disposals, 2 clearances, 2 tackles, 1 goal, 43 SCPoints, 36 CKPoints

Will Hayward

FWD | SC Price: $176,200

Round 4 Stats: 11 disposals, 4 marks, 2 goals, 61 SCPoints, 59 CKPoints

Nic Newman continues to be a backline savior for us in Supercoach, putting up another useable score. 13 of his 19 disposals were kicks, which is a tick, but against the Eagles he only ran at 47% with his disposal efficiency. If we take a good news look at that, it means if he can nudge that up to the 70% range then he’s got even more scoring potential in him.

Will Hayward continues to look like his scores are dependent on scoring goals, but it’d be a big ask to expect him to boot 2 every game.

Oliver Florent, Jordan Foote and Robbie Fox all look like the sort of young blokes who may teetering on the edge of falling out of the best 22, but as the losses mount for Sydney, a long term approach might win out and see them keep their spots.

For the Eagles, Will Schofield played his first game for the year, but he’s never been Supercoach relevant, while Nathan Vardy continued his solid work as a rotating ruck (though still producing below the likes of Preuss, Witts etc).

North Melbourne VS Western Bulldogs

Braydon Preuss

RUC | SC Price: $262,700

Round 4 Stats: 11 disposals, 2 tackles, 17 hitouts, 60 SCPoints, 57 CKPoints

Kayne Turner

FWD | SC Price: $231,800

Round 4 Stats: 10 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 2 goals, 49 SCPoints, 62 CKPoints

Jy Simpkin

FWD | SC Price: $181,900

Round 4 Stats: 13 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 2 goals, 57 SCPoints, 70 CKPoints

Braydon Preuss had his turn playing forward in the revolving forward/ruck switching with Goldstein, with Goldy taking 67 ruck contests, while Preuss was present at just 27. His Supercoach output may just be dependent on which way that figure goes week to week, but a score of 60 will still see him make some cash generation and we can probably pencil that in as a worst case scenario for him.

Jy Simpkin managed to be in the right place at the right time, kicking two scrubbers off the ground in the goalsquare for his goals, but his SC score is probably a bit worrisome for someone who had 2 goals in their stats.

Melbourne VS Fremantle

Jake Spencer

RUC | SC Price: $236,400

Round 4 Stats: 13 disposals, 4 marks, 15 hitouts, 2 goals, 100 SCPoints, 77 CKPoints

Mitch Hannan

FWD | SC Price: $168,300

Round 4 Stats: 12 disposals, 5 marks, 53 SCPoints, 51 CKPoints

Sam Weideman

FWD | SC Price: $202,000

Round 4 Stats: 5 disposals, 1 mark, 17 SCPoints, 18 CKPoints

Griffin Logue

MID | SC Price: $180,300

Round 4 Stats: 6 disposals, 1 marks, 1 tackle, 21 SCPoints, 23 CKPoints

Harley Balic

MID | SC Price: $123,900

Round 4 Stats: 15 disposals, 4 marks, 5 tackles, 1 goal, 73 SCPoints, 73 CKPoints

Cam McCarthy

FWD | SC Price: $230,600

Round 4 Stats: 20 disposals, 6 marks, 2 goals, 100 SCPoints, 96 CKPoints

Jake Spencer took over the ruck duties with Gawn out, and while Sandilands devoured him in the hitout stats (55 to Spencer’s 15), he still did enough to put up a triple digit score. Good result for anyone who traded him in for Gawn, lets just hope he can keep it up.

Mitch Hannan was a little bit better this week, while Harley Balic and Cam McCarthy both put in good performances for Freo.

Balic is a hard one to judge, quiet in his first game, but did OK here and is on the bubble this week.

Again, Sam Weideman failed to impress and Grifin Logue didn’t show enough to make us consider trading him in while he’s on the bubble this week.

GWS VS Port Adelaide

Tim Taranto

MID/FWD | SC Price: $250,800

Round 4 Stats: 18 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles, 3 clearances, 60 SCPoints, 66 CKPoints

Matthew Kennedy

FWD | SC Price: $235,000

Round 4 Stats: 16 disposals, 1 mark, 8 tackles, 63 SCPoints, 71 CKPoints

Sam Powell-Pepper

MID | SC Price: $227,500

Round 4 Stats: 8 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles, 3 clearances, 41 SCPoints, 39 CKPoints

Matthew White

MID/FWD | SC Price: $198,400

Round 4 Stats: 11 disposals, 2 marks, 5 tackles, 2 clearances, 63 SCPoints, 53 CKPoints

Dan Houston

FWD | SC Price: $233,900

Round 4 Stats: 19 disposals, 9 marks, 1 tackle, 68 SCPoints, 82 CKPoints

Dan Houston had a good game with 19 disposals and 9 marks, but didn’t do a whole lot elsewhere around the ground, and with only 3 contested possessions, it limited his Supercoach output.

Sam Powell-Pepper has struggled the past fortnight, he might be finding it a bit harder to just bulldoze his way through everything now that teams know that’s his plan A and that his disposal can be lacking at times. We’ll just have to ride him as long as he’s selected and hope he can turn it around.

Matt White played his first AFL game since Round 1 of 2016, but really didn’t show enough to make him a must buy. Might not even be in the side next week.

For GWS, Tim Taranto was OK, but due to his higher starting price we’d all probably be a little disappointed with his scores so far this year.

Adelaide VS Essendon

Curtly Hampton

DEF | SC Price: $242,100

Round 4 Stats: 15 disposals, 3 tackles, 2 clearances, 52 SCPoints, 41 CKPoints

Andy Otten

DEF | SC Price: $286,300

Round 4 Stats: 13 disposals, 1 mark, 6 hitouts, 2 goals, 98 SCPoints, 55 CKPoints

Jake Kelly

DEF | SC Price: $206,400

Round 4 Stats: 5 disposals, 1 mark, 1 tackle, 26 SCPoints, 19 CKPoints

Riley Knight

DEF | SC Price: $265,600

Round 4 Stats: 20 disposals, 7 marks, 2 clearances, 70 SCPoints, 74 CKPoints

Andrew McGrath

DEF/MID | SC Price: $278,100

Round 4 Stats: 28 disposals, 4 marks, 4 tackles, 97 SCPoints, 90 CKPoints

Curtly Hampton’s work was there with a game high 36 pressure acts, but it didn’t translate to a higher tackle count this week, so his Supercoach score was lower than last week.

Andy Otten again looked good up forward for the Crows. Josh Jenkins is considered a week by week proposition, but I suspect Otten will be staying forward for a little longer, and even if Jenkins returns because I can’t imagine they’d want him doing any ruck work with sore/broken ribs.

Jake Kelly was taken off at ½ time after copping a poke to the eye, David Mackay likely fills in for him down back, but if he misses time, that might give scope for the Crows bringing in Harrison Wigg or Brad Crouch (might be more likely) into the midfield.

Riley Knight again was solid up forward, he hasn’t blown out a game yet, but hasn’t had a complete stinkeroo yet either.

Andrew McGrath was fantastic on the Bombers side, fell just short of triple digits, probably thanks to 20 handballs and 22 uncontested possessions, but it’s still a great score (and performance) for a guy playing his 4 th AFL game.

Carlton VS Gold Coast

Tom Williamson

DEF | SC Price: $117,300

Round 4 Stats: 13 disposals, 1 mark, 3 tackles, 3 rebound 50’s, 45 SCPoints, 47 CKPoints

Caleb Marchbank

DEF | SC Price: $300,100

Round 4 Stats: 20 disposals, 8 marks, 4 rebound 50’s, 74 SCPoints, 80 CKPoints

Harrison Macreadie

DEF | SC Price: $170,300

Round 4 Stats: 9 disposals, 5 marks, 1 tackle, 32 SCPoints, 43 CKPoints

Zac Fisher

MID | SC Price: $117,300

Round 4 Stats: 12 disposals, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 1 goal, 74 SCPoints, 67 CKPoints

Sam Petrevski-Seton

MID | SC Price: $274,400

Round 4 Stats: 10 disposals, 1 mark, 3 tackles, 3 clearances, 49 SCPoints, 44 CKPoints

Jarrod Pickett

MID/FWD | SC Price: $153,900

Round 4 Stats: 9 disposals, 2 marks, 1 goal, 49 SCPoints, 39 CKPoints

Jack Bowes

MID/FWD | SC Price: $201,100

Round 4 Stats: 14 disposals, 3 marks, 1 goal, 74 SCPoints, 52 CKPoints

Jarrod Witts

RUC | SC Price: $347,000

Round 4 Stats: 14 disposals, 2 marks, 4 clearances, 36 hitouts, 79 SCPoints, 86 CKPoints

Carlton are playing so many rookies now it’s almost hard to know where to start. Caleb Marchbank had a decent bounce back to his poor performance in the wet in Round 3, while Zac Fisher looked good in his AFL debut.

The rest for the Blues Jarrod Pickett, Sam Pretrevski-Seton, Tom Williamson and Harrison Macreadie were all pretty “meh” in their performances.

For Gold Coast, Jack Bowes put up a decent score after performing poorly in Round 2 and 3. Hopefully he can keep that up to pay back all the owners who kept him, while Jarrod Witts had his worst score of the year in the week a ton of people traded him in, but It’s still useable and still enough to see him continue to generate some cash.

Collingwood VS St Kilda

Will Hoskin-Elliot

FWD | SC Price: $325,200

Round 4 Stats: 14 disposals, 5 marks, 6 inside 50’s, 2 goals, 70 SCPoints, 72 CKPoints

Tim Broomhead

FWD | SC Price: $228,700

Round 4 Stats: 17 disposals, 2 tackles, 57 SCPoints, 44 CKPoints

Ben Long

DEF/FWD | SC Price: $117,300

Round 4 Stats: 8 disposals, 2 marks, 2 tackles, 28 SCPoints, 37 CKPoints

Will Hoskin-Elliot seems to have nestled into his scoring range now, putting up scores of 71 and 70 in his last fortnight. Not quite at the level we’d want, but not enough to panic just yet either.

Collingwood aren’t exactly putting up the world’s greatest performance up forward, so he may have his struggles there, which also applies to Tim Broomhead too.

Ben Long debuted for the Saints, but didn’t really trouble the stat sheets enough to gain any attention Supercoach wise.

Brisbane VS Richmond

Cedric Cox

DEF/MID | SC Price: $117,300

Round 4 Stats: 10 disposals, 4 marks, 2 tackles, 37 SCPoints, 47 CKPoints

Jarrod Berry

DEF/MID | SC Price: $139,800

Round 4 Stats: 10 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles, 29 SCPoints, 38 CKPoints

Hugh McCluggage

MID/FWD | SC Price: $202,800

Round 4 Stats: 16 disposals, 7 marks, 3 tackles, 52 SCPoints, 68 CKPoints

Dan Butler

FWD | SC Price: $239,700

Round 4 Stats: 14 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 1 goal, 64 SCPoints, 61 CKPoints

Todd Elton

FWD | SC Price: $224,200

Round 4 Stats: 13 disposals, 2 marks, 1 tackle, 47 SCPoints, 39 CKPoints

Jarrod Berry recorded 5 clangers, as did Hugh McCluggage, who also had just the 3 contested disposals in his 16. Neither player has done enough in their first two games to give us much thought to trading them in now that they are on the bubble this week.

Cedric Cox was OK in his debut AFL game, but early days for him, while Dan Butler continued his solid scoring streak.

Hawthorn VS Geelong

Ryan Burton

DEF/FWD | SC Price: $303,200

Round 4 Stats: 19 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles, 74 SCPoints, 71 CKPoints

Blake Hardwick

FWD | SC Price: $134,900

Round 4 Stats: 10 disposals, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 63 SCPoints, 48 CKPoints

Tom Stewart

DEF | SC Price: $170,300

Round 4 Stats: 8 disposals, 1 mark, 1 goal, 53 SCPoints, 29 CKPoints

Brandon Parfitt

MID/FWD | SC Price: $206,600

Round 4 Stats: 14 disposals, 4 marks, 7 tackles, 52 SCPoints, 74 CKPoints

James Parsons

FWD | SC Price: $117,300

Round 4 Stats: 21 disposals, 4 marks, 2 goals, 68 SCPoints, 76 CKPoints

James Parsons had a good game, but may find himself sitting on the sidelines for the next 3-4 weeks thanks to an elbow to the jaw of Luke Hodge.

Tom Stewart didn’t trouble the stat sheet a ton, but managed to salvage a score that didn’t completely suck, while Parfitt had 12 uncontested possessions and a DE of just 57%, which likely hit his Supercoach score a bit.

Ryan Burton put up his worse score of 2017, but still one that puts him at the top end of rookie defenders/forwards.

Paul Hunter – Hunter had 13 disposals, 4 marks and 18 hitouts.

Harry Dear – Must have spent his week at the Nick Gill school of goal kicking, booting 3.7, along with 16 disposals, 6 marks and 5 inside 50’s.

Jacob Allison – Allison had 19 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles and 6 inside 50’s.

Will Brodie – Brodie had 23 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles and 3 inside 50’s.

Brad Scheer – Scheer had 15 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles and kicked a goal.

GWS

Tim Mohr – Mohr had 17 disposals, 6 marks, 6 tackles and 6 rebound 50’s.

  1. TRIGGER HAPPY says:

    TRIG’s HAPPY PLACE LEAGUE RESULTS.

    Happy Gilmore theme.
BRUTAL. Only one word for it.
BRUTAL this weekend. All was well in the Happy Place after Friday night with most of the premos delivering, Good Friday footy on the box and a couple of days off for Easter. Didn’t that change quickly? There were spuds everywhere with the premos (or so called premos) giving up mediocre scores in every match which came to a climax yesterday with even Captain reliable having a quiet one. Was great for the cats that the middle tier stepped up but hurt just about everyone who had the big C sitting on Danger.

But if you were lucky enough to have the high scoring pods and a different captain then you would have shot up the rankings with a big score. Hats off to Magnificent Mo who had rocky in his team so not only punched out a score over 2,200 but with his 2,300 last week pushed him into the top 200 teams.

He is the clear leader in the Happy Place and will take some catching.
When the dust had settled the winners were:

    WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!
    Liam 2,066 Def LEK 2,057
SC Addict 2,117 Def INPieman 2,044
TRIGGER HAPPY 1,992 Def dontblushbaby 1,949
    Billy 1,997 Def BVC 1,959
    Gator 2,046 Kev 2,013
    Rick Grimes2,083 Def Neilsdemonsdelights 2,046
    Moustachio 2,218 Def Shake n Bake 1,962
    Jock 2,060 Def Patch 1,998
    Tophawks 2,079 Def Swans2012 1,981

As you can see except for Mo there was nothing to really write home about.
Infact looking at those scores you would almost think it was a bye round!
The majority of us did not miss out on the carnage that impacted Rd 4 scores.

    League ranking 158.

    THE PRICE IS WRONG, BITCH.
    Biggest drop in Price
    Matty Boyd.

    YOU SUCK YA JACKASS.
And the award goes to: (lowest scoring premo – starting price > $480k) and not injured during game
Michael Barlow – 27 SC points. He did go off in the last qtr but.
    So if you want another:
Jobe Watson – 44 SC points.

Jock has also set up a JR community Group where any team can join and compete against one another under groups:
    Overall JR Group Leaders:
Well done Brendan still leading the way – Team Sheeds leading all and sundry community group members with an overall rank of 44.
Hopefully one of this great community can be standing on the winner’s dais at the end of the year!
    Good luck to all.

GONE TO MY HAPPY PLACE BE BACK IN FEW.

    • Kyle says:

      Love it trig!

    • Kim says:

I would have beaten all of you guys except moustachio with my 2159 and currently ranked in top 5,000. Thought some of you guys were "experts"

      • Finnius123 says:

Geez mate settle – it's just a game. I reckon most of 'em will kill you by the end of the season. Good luck for the rest of the season – just a bit of an unnecessary input that's all

      • Moustachio says:

It's one round mate, feel free to post your progress as the season marches on

    • Tyruddanaut says:

I knew last week was bad BUT NOT THAT BAD. The top people at Jock Reynolds getting my low scores smh

  2. LoganJosh7 says:

eddy for balic? yay or nay?

    • BarronVonCrow says:

I am considering it, especially if Eddy isn't named.

    • TRIGGER HAPPY says:

Eddy has a heap of cash to make IF he plays.
Not much point having him doing nothing.
Eddy or Pickett to Balic for me this week

      • LoganJosh7 says:

yup those are the two options atm! would love to keep both obviously.

Also – been away so may have missed it, but was there any reason why barrett was dropped? 16 touches and 10 tackles hardly seems like a bad game?

        • Cliffy says:

Barrett was extremely unlucky just to be omitted after his 3rd match in terms of his stats, but couldn't have done more in the 2s last week.

    • Moustachio says:

Will be doing this if Eddy misses again

  3. Winter says:

What rookies if any need to go this round?
And should I jump on Williamson or wait a week on Fisher?
Eddy to Balic is a likely for mine

    • Kev says:

None stand out for mine, Winter. Eddy for Balic only nets you 18k, not worth it, especially if Eddy gets named.

SPP has hit the rookie wall. Blues at home this week. If he struggles it's time to go for Fisher

      • Finnius123 says:

I disagree – I personally like Eddy to Balic. If Eddy isn't named then jump on the balic train and cut your losses on someone who isn't playing. Thats me personally though.

  4. Patch says:

Barron you superstar. Ridiculously comprehensive and I love it.

Ed Vickers-Willis has to be at the front of the queue for his first game – he's dominated in practice matches and now in round 1… let's hope he can put up more of a fight than Hibberd, Mountford and co.!

Not a lot of options anywhere but defense leaves Balic the most likely to be brought in, despite the fact that he plays under Ross Lyon and hasn't been setting the world on fire

  5. KICKITDOWNTHEGUTS says:

WHE to H. Balic? Too early or take it whilst you can?

    • LoganJosh7 says:

much too early. id be leaving him in till mid season at least, much better options to drop.

  6. Andrew says:

Have 330k in the bank and thinking of Hannan > Yeo which would allow me to drop Parfitt onto the bench as I'm not confident playing him on the field. Is this a good move as Hannan doesn't seem like a genuine cash cow?

  7. OldOcker says:

Barron you are a bloody legend mate,
Fantastic stuff keeping us up to date on all the rookies AND the VFL as well.
You obviously spend a great deal of time compiling all of this every week and it is TRULY APPRECIATED Especially by me.

  8. Col says:

    Out Hannan
    Parfitt

    In Balic
    NRoo

    Good trades?

    • SCaddict says:

I certainly wouldn't be trading out Parfitt (just to get NRoo in) who is both playing and has a -30 BE!

One of those players who if the ball falls his way as it did in Rd3 could post another juicy score for a rookie and generate more fat stacks.

      • Col says:

        Yeah fair enough, good point
Was trying to upgrade a rookie but will wait on Parfitt for now

  9. Tom says:

As the rookies this year don't seem like they are going to reach as high a price as those in years gone by.
Would we be better off trading rookies to mid-price options like Matera who has a BE of -62 and should reach over 500K in the next couple of weeks, as cash generation

    • INPieman says:

Matera won't be scoring 150 against the Crows. Is there enough value there to warrant 2 trades. I'm not sure about that. He has averaged around 65 for his career. One poor score & his BE will be into the positive territory fast

    • demon_spud says:

your trades will disappear pretty quick if you are thinking of trading Matera out again later. Unless you have a lot still.

  10. Nick says:

What do people see Simpson and shaw doing this year done sfa so far

  11. INPieman says:

It's worth noting Harley Balic whilst he scored 73 he did kick a goal to put the Dockers in front. Without that he would have scored 50. He's a maybe for me Definitely not mandatory like Newman was

    • OldOcker says:

Thanks INP could not watch the game, Balic's dual position interests me and there is nothing much on offer Rookie wise.
Good chance I might not trade this week depending on Thursday night Teams.

      • The Ranger says:

        Same here Ocker.
Balics tempting and if I hadn't made four trades already I might look to get him in but I've had to make three rookie corrections and spend an injury trade on Gawn so I'll be trying to do nothing but watch the calves fatten for a couple of weeks now.

      • INPieman says:

Balic is an option but not essential I think Ocker. As BVC also pointed out. I wouldn't expect his to be a runaway cashcow. I liked the look of the Fisher lad from the Blues old mate. If he goes well again I'll be bringing him in

    • Stirlsy says:

      Agree Pieman
But watching him in the WAFL his a ball magnet and i think the more he plays at the lvl the better he can get.
And with the rookies iv got ill gladly give him a spot, I had 1 back 2 mids the loophole ruck and Eddy not playing in rnd 3 and i kept all them non players and traded Florent for him and banked a little dollars.

  12. Tommo09 says:

    Great write up Barron
    Absolute legend

  13. TRIGGER HAPPY says:

Seriously BVC do you have a staff that gathers all this info?
Power of work seriously seriously good!
    Well.done.
Wigg, brodie and Barrett gotta be close

  14. iLoveNMFC says:

Thoughts community? 220k in the bank.

    O'Meara to Murphy
    Pickett to Balic
    OR
    Roughy to Riewoldt

Murphy worth the extra trade? Cheers.

    • LoganJosh7 says:

Im hanging on to pickett and roughy for now. both wont be losing any $ and still getting picked so no reason to trade :)

  15. Steeeve says:

Let's hope Barrett and Eddy are back soon.

Wiig and Greenwood are doing all they can, can you see them getting a gig anytime soon Barron?

    • INPieman says:

I don't want to move Barrett Eddy or Mountford on just yet. I call this the Gresham rule. He came back & smashed his way to 400K. I traded him as soon as he got dropped. The year before some spud called Touk Miller scored 30 in round 1 & 2 & I thought he was going to get dropped. So I traded him. He made it to 400k as well

      • Moustachio says:

It's tough tho, we need them to make the cash before the byes are done really.

        • Daniel Z says:

Yeah but not ALL of them need to get there at the same time.
I'm with Pieman on this, need to be a bit patient. If the guy's not getting a gig by round 7-8, then reconsider (especially if a solid rookie like Newman pops up).

    • BarronVonCrow says:

Greenwood is on the rookie list, so he needs to be upgraded. Issue with him is he's a Category B rookie, so if he's brought up they can't put him back down to the rookie list again. I wouldn't be surprised if he spent the entire year in tbe SANFL with them aiming to give him games in 2017.

Wigg might be a chance this week, but Brad Crouch likely comes in first.

  16. Andrew says:

What do I do about roughy? Thinking about getting rid of him for a Balic maybe?

  17. Stirlsy says:

No write up on yr team Pieman???
    I need my weekly laugh…

    • TRIGGER HAPPY says:

Surely Stirly he needs the old gattoline gun this week
Not enough bullets in the good old rifle

    • INPieman says:

I haven't calmed down enough for the team meeting this week Stirlsy. Looking likely to happen tomorrow morning

  18. Travo says:

Harrison Wigg constantly putting up big games in the SANFL.
Will definitely pick him up if he can squeeze into that Crows team at some point.

    • bob the builder says:

Is likely to be squeezed straight out though…
Would be getting games at any other team

      • MattyB says:

With Jake Kelly likely to miss with a poke in the eye, Wigg may come in for him, if Crows replace like for like, or B Crouch if they just want to get him in the team.

  19. Rivo says:

So do I trade or hold on & pray for a miracle?

  20. Jim says:

Key concerns this week – Mills not living up to expectation along with EVW and Atley serving up donuts so far…

Team announcements will play a part but with $115k in the bank I’m thinking upgrade Mills and hold the other two lads. Or do I dump one of them for someone on the bubble??

    26 trades left

Def: Adams, Laird, Marchbank, Mills, Newman, Hampton (Stewart, EVW)
Mid: Bont, Danger, Fyfe, Titchell, Beams, Treloar, SPP, Swallow (Barrett, Pickett, Atley)
    Ruck: Grundy, Sandi (Preuss)
Fwd: Dahl, Nank, Lynch, Buddy, Butler, Taranto (Parfitt, Hayward)

    • whatyousmokin says:

      Atley to Balic?

      • Jim says:

Something like Mills to JJ and Atley to Balic leaves very little in the kitty….so tempted to go TT to Balic for the extra cash

    • TBone says:

If i were you Id actually wait another week, go Atley to Fisher (assuming he has another good game). And Mills to Shaw. Hes still a premo and get him while hes under 500k!

  21. Mog says:

Can some one please help me with how to activate SC gold on the app. I have subscribed and the extras appear when I log on via the web. But when I access my team via the app BEs and projections etc show up as N/A. Cheers in advance. Mog

  22. David Skewes says:

No mentioning on Sam Frost for melb who got 91 sc points and is a def. im thinking off replacing c.hampton who's time is up. Any thought?

  23. Chenz says:

Community I need an opinion on whether you would burn a trade with captain loophole strnadica to balic? I'm in two minds..

  24. Neverweaken says:

Is Balic a must have? No one is quite ready to trade except maybe Roughead and I want to keep him for a bit longer. And Balic doesn't look that exciting.

    • Hitch says:

Balic's scores are severely affected by game time. 58% TOG vs Dogs, 66% vs Demons. I started with the lad, he's a gun and as soon as Ross gives him a chance/thinks he has the match fitness, I'd be surprised if he scores many sub 70s.

    • Finnius123 says:

Not a must have if there is no one you can trade.

  25. KSinny says:

Traded Watson and got macrae then swapped him into my forward line with Dahl, is this a good trade guys?

  26. Finnius123 says:

Trade. Would maybe not bring in sloane/rocky though – try and get a premo at a lower price like Macrae in your forward line

  27. The Nank says:

    hannon or picket to Balic

  28. Jim_bob321 says:

    Hey community,
What do u guys think, Stewart to Newman?
    Thanks

  29. Bilbo says:

    Got 260k
    Thinking Roughie to Balic
    M.hibberd to Rockcliff

    26k left. Worth it?

  30. RobDog says:

Frost is $280k so no real coin to be made, and looking at his averages previously he doesn't look like he will be a regular SC relevant scorer. Definite pass for me.

  31. RobDog says:

Myers is now fit and will be up for selection in a couple of weeks. I'm holding off on Ball Lick, especially after Pieman's observation regarding the inflated score due to his 20 point goal. I think Myers will come in just at the right time to slaughter a SSP or Parfitt so staying disciplined and holding the trades.

    • Moustachio says:

Good plan, definitely need to save a spot for him in a year where we are stuck in the cash cow desert.

  32. Cpt Pugwash says:

Rookies: Who's Cooked? Is It Time?

But Who Are The Upgrade Options?

In the words of Mufssa! "I'm only Brave when I have to be. Being Brave doesn't mean you go looking for trouble".

Are you looking for Trouble or being Brave?

  33. Help needed says:

    A little help please Community;
Can some one please help me with how to activate SC gold on the app. I have subscribed and the extras appear when I log on via the web. But when I access my team via the app BEs and projections etc show up as N/A. Cheers in advance.

  34. Seeker says:

Anyone know how bad Hibberd's VFL head clash was, and how long he's likely to be out? Not sure what to do with him…

    • Cpt Pugwash says:

I'm keeping him for loophole opportunities. He's going to make it back. Especially seeing how well the Roos are going.

  35. TigerMan says:

David Myers will be named this week….Mark my words community

    • TigerMan says:

I have inside knowledge from Worsfold himself

      • Plumspudding says:

That's sounds kinda dark and… brown?

        • TigerMan says:

Not Really…but I watched a Video on AFL website today and Worsfold said he should be straight back playing Seniors and that Myers is up and about this week at training

          • Plumspudding says:

Yeah i saw that, i think he said something about his energy levels being high. Sorry of indicated he might be picked but then realised what he'd done and backtracked a little but not necessarily convincingly. As a dons supporter I'd prefer he has some vfl time. He's never quite transitioned his talent into what was hoped. With that long left foot kick id always hoped he would deliver more and maybe pick up Lucas mantle, being a similar size. His js worries me if he comes back in. I'm not sure woosha would play him over others or youngsters, but great for our sc options if he does.

  36. TigerMan says:

Hows this for a Trade ladies and gentleman… 1st TRADE: Hampton DEF (On field) To Williamson DEF (On field), 2nd TRADE: Taranto (MID bench) To J.Lloyd in mids. then…. Swing J.Lloyd (MID) with McGrath (DEF) opposite. Then Swing McGrath to DEF again with Hibberd moving to MIDS. Solves a whole lot of headaches for my side in which has a backline weakness. This will also leave me with a DEF/MID swing option with J.Lloyd come bye rounds. Thoughts anyone?

    • TigerMan says:

these trades actually push Williamson to the bench which is a double bonus because I had Hampton on field. Leaving my backline as Docherty, Lloyd, Otten, Marchbank, McGrath and Newman on field

  37. Pman says:

Am considering Tarranto/SPP for Balic for cash generation to then upgrade either the disappointing Callan Ward to Sloane/Bont/Martin or the injured and under performing Heath Shaw to Docherty? Who is the priority out of Shaw or Ward to go and who first out of Taranto or SPP? Or do I just hold and save trades (have 27 left) Any feedback appreciated thanks…

    • John James says:

To make it even harder I think all those moves work,Tarranto/SPP are both running out of cash generation so the move to Balic works I'm also thinking about that one although I still have Eddy so might go that way instead.Ward to Bont would be a good long term trade as would Shaw to Docherty,I traded Shaw out two weeks ago to Adams and started with Docherty.

  38. Bevo says:

Hmmm. Mids look ok, watson loves anzac day so hold. Probably murphy in the backline is going nowhere, a punt that hasn't paid off. Same with rough and Higgins is probably in the expensive end of the same group with two rubbish scores and a high break even he's about to haemorrhage some cash. Prob drop murph and higgins first, rough week live for another week with not much change and is probably the better chance to lift score when the Hawks get a win. Drop murp for 388.7, and higgins 449.1 857.8 plus your196 gives you about 1053.8K OR 1.0538M .Use a calc though add i didn't. Then go safe with macrae, punt on yeo or grab matera for a punt and quick cash. Youve got cash cows here already so id go macrae or maybe consider nank. Personally i would go with nank, cheaper and higher average at 109, may also give you more options in the ruck with dpp or trading in future. At 457.7 that'd leave you with 596.1 and you could then grab t adams at 558.3 so change left and a bump in average total points of around 56 points. So murphy and higgins becomes two solid keepers and probably both top 6 def and fwd at end of year and leaves you to water your rookies until you can trade up again. All imho and dyor.

  39. Scott says:

Thanks so much Barron! Unreal. The NEAFL report is gold for me. Will hold Barret for now. Bye bye JOM

  40. Dice says:

Righto i'm going Roughead out for Jakey Spencer, (Nank pushes back into fwd line)

Can someone please talk me out of this

    • Hunts says:

Wait a week I reckon. Roughy won't lose much in a week, but you'll be spewing if Spencer goes down before his price rise.

  41. Dice says:

Yep hunts, just need that coin there in me bank to upgrade to a premium next week as rookies aren't performing too well.
    Maybe just rough to balic??

  42. Ben says:

Hey boys, what are your thoughts on Brayden Fiorini from gold coast? scores of 75 & 97. Has a break even of -9. I hear he rates very highly at GC and getting good game time in midfield is not an issue. His games last year were also very promising. Thoughts on maybe upgrading to him from a SPP or Taranto??

  43. Lazza says:

Newman, Balic and Preuss out …
