Supercoach 2014

Just when we thought the Fantasy Gods had finished with us..

Some of us are walking the streets naked, cold and confused tonight. What has happened these past 6 or 7 days?

What have we planned all season for? How could this possibly happen at this time of the season? What have I done wrong? What could I have done to avoid this?

This will be known as the week the fantasy world stood still.

  1. skate or die says:

community, do you think greene will get the macaffer tag? and who is more likely to get the crowely tag? rocky or the irishman? and.. which forward can you see going large? i'm thinking roughhead, is that stupid talk? please help!!

  2. confused says:

I can't decide!!!!! Pick for me!!

    OUT – JPK+Beames
    IN…..
    Sloane/Watson
    Sloane/Boak
    Watson/Boak
    Priddis/Bennell

  3. The Ranger says:

I'm boned Jock. Bloody rooted mate.
But I'm learning. Jeez, I'm learning.
Big lesson learnt is the importance of the swing set. I've got players on the bench that I can't get onto the field 'cos I don't have a way of swinging them onto the line where I need them.
    That bloody hurts mate.
Still in with a shout of winning one of my leagues so wish me luck. I'm gonna bloody need it!

    • jockreynolds says:

Best of luck Ranger. To be honest mate it's taken me a few seasons to adjust to the importance of the dual position player – especially late in the season so I'm learning too mate. Best of luck in your prelim!

  4. Trent says:

With all this carnage going on around me I might just Bradbury my way to a title :)

  5. Dennis says:

Beams out, can get anyone what do you guys think ?

  6. LJB says:

Yeah bit concerned, why I asked. Thanks Jock and medadsson

  7. carlashirley90 says:

    good luck community

  8. PkMn Trainer Jimmy says:

As someone with 2 trades and half decent bench cover, the carnage may actually help me.

I'm very torn this week as I will most likely be going : OUT Beams and Fyfe for 2 Premo mids.
    I can afford
    ROCKY + ANyone excpet lewis/priddis/sidebottom
    OR
    Priddis + anyone but Rocky

My head says go to Rocky as he is a beast and is likely to be a 125+ scorer in the next two. However, I'm tempted by Priddis, thinking he could match him. I am concerned however that I'm being Biased towards Priddis as I am an WCE supporter and have had a cheeky punt on him to win the brownlow. Does anyone else feel that Priddis can match Rocky's output for the final 2 games? Or am I letting to much Bias come into play. Would love to get some thoughts.

Will also likely get Toby Greene with 2nd Trade – was tempted to pick him up a month ago but didn't, worried I've missed the ship but I still think he is worth it considering the GWS are a good chance in both their games and Greene needs to finish strong to try and rectify his mid-year issue

  9. dean billman says:

    Tough times!
With both Fyfe and Barlow out, could Mundy be a good trade in option?? Plenty of points up for the taking..
    I'm thinking:
    Fyfe – Rockcliff
    Beams – Mundy/Sloane/Watson.

    Thoughts?

  10. SCaddict says:

I've heard strong murmurings that Dusty could be an out either tomorrow as Sunday's teams are finalised or a late withdrawal game day.

Most coaches seem to have some sort of cover on their forward bench so perhaps isn't as big an issue as all our mid outs. But it could still undo a few if the rumour comes to fruition.

Also as Jock mentions above should we make anything of Rocky on the extended bench?? Hopefully it's just Leppa playfully teasing our collective plums and nothing more.

These past 7 days will go down in the annals of Supercoah infamy as 50 years from now grandads recount to their grandkiddies what horrors transpIred in round 21, 2014!

    • WombatsFC says:

Hi Addict, is it a reputable source making the murmurings?
Dusty not playing would be absolute gold for the Wombats.

      • SCaddict says:

Damian Barrett on the Footy Show last night. Hopefully he's wrong as it will hurt the Addicts in Supercoach with McGlynn already parked on my bench. It would help me out in my AFL Fantasy prelim though ha ha.

        • WombatsFC says:

Thanks mate that just about makes my week. I only loose Fyffe&Beams and I can trade to fix that.

  11. Jarrod05 says:

    Out: Beams/Johnson

Possible Ins: Watson, griffin, Lewis or sloane??

    Thoughts?

  12. TOM says:

Will Rockliff get tagged by Crowley or do we think he will go elsewhere like to hanley?

    • General Soreness says:

      Rumour that Creepy wont play.

    • WombatsFC says:

HI Tom, doesn't matter as far as Rocky's score is concerned and Hanley reckons he's got Crowley covered. I expect Hanley to go 100+ even with a Crowley tag but Rocky will score more.

  13. Josh says:

I'm taking Lewis over Sloane. Sloane has never played at Bellerive as far as I can tell, and Sloane's high scores come from narrow playing grounds. AO is about 10m narrower than BA, or the MCG. Anyway, that's the way I'm approaching it.

  14. Cuz says:

    Buddy or Parker??

    • wes says:

depends if you want a POD. who doesn't your opponent have?
buddy has ability to go bigger scores than parker. and has sainters this rd.
if you need a good POD, of the two, and you don't mind the risk, go Buddy.
if you want consistent 100 or so, go Parker.

  15. Sleet says:

I notice Sidebottom seems to have fallen off the radar. No-one reckon he can perform without Beams to take away attention or what?

    • wes says:

I'd say he is a reasonable bet to score ok… I looked at him and was too expensive a replacement for me to cover my losses.

  16. Remy says:

Damien Barrett said Dusty will not play this week!

  17. Peter says:

Without sounding as if i am getting ahead of myself, who is best to keep in case he plays next week. Stevie j or kennedy. If kennedy has a hamstring it is three games. But when will the former resume?

    • WombatsFC says:

The JPK diagnosis was that there wasn't even any bleeding in the muscle so he could probably have played this week. I've no idea what's going on with Steven Johnson.

    • SCaddict says:

Yeah JPK is very likely to play next round and probably would've played this weekend if it was a huge final. Horse just didn't want to take the risk.

Stevie J is more in the 50/50 camp from what I've heard during the week.

  18. Tony says:

    Ok community, last trade.

It’s down to Ellis, Murphy or Sidebottom for me.

Who do you like out of these.

    Already have

    Pendles, Johnson,Libba, Sloane, Jpk, Beams,

    Cotchin, Crouch.

    Salem, Obrien bench.

    Your wisdom would be appreciated.

    • Derek says:

just out of those three, Murphy by a long way.

    • sharker4 says:

      None of the above, Watson

    • WombatsFC says:

If they're all you're considering Not Ellis.
I reckon Ollie might get a run on Smurph and Cornes go to Judd. Ollie kicks goals on better players than Smurph and Smurph is defensively weak so Mick will have been hammering him all week about keeping Ollie under control when Port have the Ball. This might impact his score.
I don't think GWS have anybody capable of shutting down Sidebum he could go huge. OR GWS could 100% negative and use Devon Smith on him which could slow him for half the game.

      • Tony says:

        Thanks wombats, that’s a great analysis !
I’m gonna go Watson unless anyone has
Any other selections only got 608k to spend

  19. Jay says:

Have got beams who has to go but which to trade out of ward or jpk?

  20. judd0 says:

I am in the terrible position of possibly copping a donut in the forward line if dusty doesn't play. (already have boomer but have cover for him).
Definitely copping a donut in the midfield with JPK, having traded Fyfe and Beams out I cant make anymore trades and have no playing midfield cover.
But have a spare premo down back that I can not move into the midfield because I don't have a swing set.
There is a lot to be said about these swing sets.
I have Swallow, Enright, Mitchell, Hibberd, Hanley, Bartel, Hodge in my backline. all playing premos.
Frustration levels are high. will more than likely loose this week.

  21. Derek says:

I can't believe that Morobito isn't playing. Brought him in a few weeks ago as cover if something happened to Fyfe or Barlow.

  22. shayne says:

My mids are Jellwood, Pendles, Priddis, Sloane, Libba and Greenwood
I am trading Beams and JPK
Best combo out of Murhpy, Cotchin, Dids, Ellis, Green, Bennell, Boak or Watson
I was thinking Murphy and Cotchin
    What are peoples thoughts/advice

  23. PkMn Trainer Jimmy says:

I know this week has been carnage round, but I encourage everyone to keep an eye on the final round. I’ve been having a look at some hypotheticals and I’m concerned that SandiBalls and other freo players will be rested next week. If Carlton topples Port and Hawks beat cats (or if port win but Freo gain a massive % boost), then Freo will have nothing to play for next round (having sewn up 4th spot and not being able to move up or down). If that’s the case, I’d expect Sandi and Pav to have a pre-finals rest.

I know it’s all hypotheticals but I might hold a trade for next week if port get beat tonight. But then again, I have 2 trades, I can get a full premo squad this week using the 1 trade and I have no ruck bench cover if sandi gets rested. Situational but some food for thought for the community.

  24. The_Darwin_Ducks says:

Have to do one trade this week
    My team is

Rockliff, Selwood, Priddis, Pendles, Cotchin, Crouch, Libba, ______ (Shenton, Acres)

I can afford anyone in the game so over to you community, who should i get?
    this is my last trade
    (Lewis, Greene, watson, Sloane?)

  25. wpmilkbar says:

Heard on 7 news that Dusty Martin is extremely likely to be out of Tigers side on Sunday,. just to add to our headaches

  26. Matt says:

No trades four premium midfielders out, calling it a day. Thanks for the year community.

  27. SCaddict says:

Geez Smurf KO'd stranded on just 19pts. When will this senseless carnage end?!

    • Itchy Nuts Pieman says:

One of my 4 playing mids. Well i guess hes's done better than 4 others. Absolutely destroyed, Dd you dodge the carnage SCA?

      • SCaddict says:

One onfield donut thus far and no Smurf or Simmo so travelling ok relatively speaking.

However the weekend is just getting started. If Dusty is a late withdrawal that will be another krispy creme. Ditto for Pendles etc.

  28. michael says:

What an awesome start to the weekend – Murph subbed out and Simpson on 16pts at 3/4 time…fml!

    • WombatsFC says:

Simmo was outscored by Murph! Hate it as a Blues supporter but love it as a Supercoach

    • SCaddict says:

Yeah it's astonishing that someone of the calibre of Simmo could deliver such a turderiffic score when Supercoaches were at their most vulnerable but such was the domination of Port tonight.

The Smurf concussion is uber unlucky though.

  29. Gold Rush says:

Got lucky with Gray, had the VC on him and I'm taking the 348 points, makes up for Smurph and Simmo.

  30. Paul says:

I had Simmo, my opponent had gibbs and westhoff.

  31. Big Ben says:

Wow… Murphys out now also, I'm lost for words

    • Itchy Nuts Pieman says:

Unbelieveable Big Ben.Was really close to a top 500 finish. Now 3 Mids left & no trades.WTF

  32. Itchy Nuts Pieman says:

Jock the season has turned into Tinder. The photos are awesome, conversation great. Then you meet her & she's a truckie wider than your fridge!

  33. MangroveJack says:

Just gotta laugh in the face of this adversity. Whether I win this round's prelim final or not, this is the best year i've had yet.

In the top 1%, Have never scored over 2600 before (2698), and no matter what, can't wait for next season.

Have made a few stuff ups this year I hope to be able to correct for next year, so bring it on Supercoach !!!

    • Jambo says:

Love the attitude mate! I feel the same way also considering finishing 7th and still making the prelim and in top 19%.

  34. Mike says:

    sloane/lewis/sidebottom/watson/.libba/griffen/jones for beams
    who should i trade in?`

  35. Juan says:

Who will score mores Pendles or Sloane? Who has the Crystal Balls??

  36. PkMn Trainer Jimmy says:

    Very left field selection here:
    Josh Kennedy (eagles)
Could absolutely tear the dees and then gold coast in half.

I personally wouldn't go there but if you need a real P.O.D he could get you over the line

  37. Paul says:

Should i trade Rockliff in this week, my opponent has him but will he play this week, as he's named on the extended bench?

  38. SCaddict says:

Dusty has officially withdrawn from tomorrow's match against the Saints as was rumoured Thursday night!

In doubt for next week too with a hammy issue.

    • Wes says:

Dusty going down has won me my match. Opp had Kersten as cover, poor bugger, and his miniscule score, couple with my mid cover of jake Lloyd, crisp and Shelton will keep me ahead I reckon.
I cannot believe after all the outs I can still make the GF. Before this week he had such a better team than mine.
Goes to show- good bench cover is a must!

      • Jambo says:

Same here mate. Although Daniel Cross did me no favours shutting down Priddis (good on him though, no easy feat). My opponent losing Barlow as well helped me hard-out.

    • RooBoy says:

Dusty going down has likely lost me my pre-final.
We are currently level pegging but I now have 2 donuts to come plus Shenton's score, he has only 1.
Thinking of moving my C away from Rocky (who his is on) to either Buddy or Rooey – thoughts anyone?

  39. WombatsFC says:

Geez I reckon the floods and locusts can't be far away.
Smurph, Simmo, Dusty, Nic Nat, and Swan. Priddis is getting shutdown and lewis isn't exactly shining at half time.
LOL Kersten doing a hammy could cost me the game next week if I get through this one.

    • Itchy Nuts Pieman says:

And admist all this Ross Lyon hasn't unleashed his fury! Smurph & Dusty complete the absolute decimation of my team. If Ryan Griffen scores 600 im a chance!

  40. big aggots says:

Opponent has 3 donuts and I'll still get knocked off. Can't even win a kindergarten parent's comp with this carnage.
Special thanks to Simpson, Breust, Bartel & Priddis.

    • Itchy Nuts Pieman says:

Bugger big ones. Serious pain! I hoisted the white flag & forgot to put Bartel back on the ground. I could hav been in with a chance if I did.

  41. Nuggety says:

All these outs make you think long and hard about trading strategy during the season. For mine it’s giving credence to Crouching’s trade ass of strategy. No good having 4 trades left this week if 6 players drop out and you can only use two of them!

I’m not in this situation though, had to burn 2 of my last 3 trades last Sunday morning on a hail Mary to get me through to this week.

Happy with my one trade this week though which was Beams to Goddard. Felt wrong not spending all the available cash but I won’t care if I do somehow win this week…..

If I do lose I’ll be too crushed to visit the site for a while so in that case, thanks Jock and the Boys for a very entertaining year, and to all for their wisdom!

    • big aggots says:

Agree Nuggety. Swingsets are crucial too and I think we've seen the death of forwards both tall or short.
      Thanks Jock & Community.

  42. Wattsieesq says:

Given the two donuts I have, I'll make the grand final in one of my leagues. That is unless Bob Murphy blows me away with a 340. The other prelim I'm in is in the balance. I have Rocky as captain, Dal, Libba and Hanley to come with a 380 lead. The other guy has Crisp, Stef Martin, Mundy, Buddy, Malceski, and Ladler to come.

    Good luck to all.

  43. Itchy Nuts Pieman says:

    Your kidding me. Ross strikes!

  44. Anonymous says:

Rockliff plays for stats if he was so effective and have big influence then Fremantle would not have been in front by large margin … his supercoach score is questionable

  45. WombatsFC says:

Thanks Jock and community 2463 and in the GF in all my leagues.

Sadly a stupid final trade will lose me half of them.

  46. michael says:

Probably the most soul destroying SC round ever for me. A score of 1641 pretty well sums it up. Everything turned to dust, even having Cotchin as captain failed abysmally. Only 7 players hit the ton, plus 4 donuts. My hopes of a top 5000 finish is up in flames!

  47. BCHawks says:

2322 for me with a doughnut! Had bad scores from Murphy and Bartel but was lucky enough to put the VC on Gray. Not sure where this will leave me with the ranks hoping to stay around the same.

  48. Remy says:

Taking the VC off Robbie Gray at 7:47 p.m. Friday was a safe move, wasn't it? It was well documented that he would receive the tag anywho… Not to mention myopponent had him VC as well.
In the end I went with:
    VC- Swan
    C- Cotchin
    Yea, that didn't work.
    Season Over

  49. Itchy Nuts Pieman says:

C money amazing team mate! All bases covered! Nobody has dominated like this
