POLL: Is it too late to get Mummy’s help?

Jock Reynolds - The Father of FantasyRucks can make or break your season community.

As discussed in Sunday night’s podcast Shane Mumford has been dominating in the ruck for the first two rounds.

But is it too late to bring him in after his first price rise? Is his form to date a reflection of what we can expect for the rest of the season?

Is it too late to bring in Shane Mumford?

  1. Speedy Gonzales says:

Lucky me got mummy in for leuenburger last week.
Thoughts on tom Mitchell any point trading??

  2. BeagzBoyz says:

    GET HIM IN!

Health permitting, he will be top 2 or 3 ruckman for the season. He is probably the hardest working ruckman playing at the moment and if he keeps that up I wouldn't be surprised if he averaged 110 – 115 for the season.

I was saying this all pre-season and slowly been proven right!

If only my stupid Swans had kept him.

    • Bailey says:

Yeah the swans, like me, thought buddy would be a better way to spend the extra cash than the mummy. Huge mistake but the difference is I spend 450k poorly, and they spend 1M poorly.

      • Jai says:

Granted he had a good first game against Pike and the next two games he simply smashed two inexperienced ruckmen in Hickey and Spencer. No doubt a sensational start to the season for those that picked him up.

However, in the coming games playing against better, stronger and more experienced ruckmen, his hitouts to advantage (which is where he has got the majority of his points from) will take a hit and Giles will take an increased rucking load.

For him to average 107 come the end of the year, he will need to average 100 from here on in. Taking the above two points regarding hitouts to advantage taking a dive and Giles taking a greater load, I personally cant see him finishing the year with an average much higher than 107, so in my circumstances, I wouldn't be keen on paying $565K for a ruckman who isn't going to average well over 100 in the games he scores points for my team.

        Just my thoughts on Mummy.

        I love you Jock.

  3. Giri Logeswaran says:

You’ll be unsuccessfully chasing previous scores if you do. And he’s not worth burning a trade to replace another premium.

  4. pfft says:

What are people's thoughts on bringing in one of Derickx or Currie? I have Thurlow and King (for captains loophole) and it doesn't look like Thurlow will play. This move would primarily be as another cash generating option.

    • sputnik says:

No. Rucks are a wasted position and you will never cash in a rookie ruckman. Was possible last year with so many swingman but not this year

      • Derek says:

I agree, I have King $102k and some other $102k guy (don't even remember his name) you will not cash in a rookie ruck.

        • Dale says:

I disagree and have traded Goldstein for mummy already. I will trade down one if currie or dericx once they appreciate to make cash for an upgrade elsewhere.

          • Dale says:

Btw Goldstein out saved me 40k+ and mummy in got me 60k+ thats 100k in my pocket.

          • Derek says:

Waste trade trying to get cash from a rookie ruck. Just like other years won’t appreciate enough and will waste a trade.

        • Blake says:

Would it be worth going Longer > Derickx to free up some $?

    • pfft says:

Thanks for your thoughts, have to agree re little gain from this move.

  5. Michael says:

Thoughts on trading McVeigh for David Swallow so that I can afford Nic Nat for Mumford? Not sure if selecting Naitanui was the greatest decision i've ever made :S

  6. sputnik says:

Only get him if you think he will be top 4 ruckman. Remember his back injury? Could easily flare up and having him and sandi is a major risk. I agree you will be chasing scores because he has played easy opponenets. Also he is already up to 560K and while he prob wont drop much he wont go up much either so i would watch unless you need him for bye rounds because you already have a round 8/10 bye ruck and no coverage.

  7. MightyDonsFC says:

Who should I trade in for leuenberger (can afford any ruck man) now that trent west steals his hitouts :(

    • THE SALTSHAKER says:

Minson, has dropped in price, dogs got easy run coming up, also tigers win has boosted their belief they will have real crack next 3 as they will go in confident they can win = set and forget

Hickey/HMAC if looking for value, may cost you 2 trades in long run though?

  8. James says:

NOT sure what to do guys

    Leueberguer – mummy
    rohan-ambrose

    or

    Rohan-fasolo
    kennedy-harris-ambrose

    • MightyDonsFC says:

I went Berger to jacobs and Rohan to ambrose, next week trade to Fasolo as his price won't rise till round 5 (considering he plays)

    • kim says:

ambrose is out again this week, wait till he actually plays before getting him in

  9. Tough Call says:

    Lobbe to Mumford???

  10. cyril says:

He's been rucking against poor ruckman and is injury prone. He won't be as good as everyone seems to think

  11. Hbags says:

If you don't Mummy already you'd be nuts bringing him in!

On a unrelated topic…. does anyone have Pav? I'm thinking sideways to Rioli this week would be a good move.

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

      Why???

That trade makes no sense whatsoever. Pav is a fallen premium giving you solid if unspectacular returns but a 97 this week, to an injury prone premium who can go high and low and scored 108. Trades are precious and you want to waste one for 11pts?

      Just keep him.

    • Daniel says:

I wanted Rioli from day dot but he was suspended round 1. I'd get him in. Good POD if he stays fit.

  12. canman1306 says:

Only if you Have an Injury In the Ruckline.
No Point Sideways Trading and Wasting a trade.
In the next 2 weeks your Current Ruckman may break through his bad form I.E Leuenberger and get 2 130s in the next 2 weeks where is Capable of Getting injured or Pulling out 2 Bad Scores.
(Better not have Jinxed Mummy just then)

    • throttlefinger says:

      Agree with that, Canman.

Brought him in for Ryder and even thought I heavily considered not doing it. But he's playing aggressive ball, tackling like a madman and doing what a solo ruck does.

Think versus elite rucks he won't go 130+ that often, yet can not see him going sub 80 more than 2-3 times.

  13. taylorwoof says:

I have Sandilands, McIntosh & Hickey. Have been starting Sandi, and using Hmac and Hickey as R2 …via Max King EM Loophole.

I can this week trade out Hickey for Dan Currie, then upgrade Hmac to Mummy with 30K spare…..very tempting.

    Your thoughts community?

    • throttlefinger says:

Hey Twoof. I'd say you've made your bed with Hmac and Hickey. And sounds like they have been serving you well.

So like a cash cow, I'd ride out Hmac until the byes. He could earn you enough cash to make an even money swap for NicNat. Or Mummy for that matter. But let the boy earn you some money. Hickey for Currie you could do yet I'd hold on to that cash. Or put elsewhere.

      My two cents, my man.

      • taylorwoof says:

        Thanks Throttle!

You're probably right there mate, ride the boys out until the byes.

        Trading is so tempting……..hahahahaha

        • throttlefinger says:

Nooooooo doubt. Don't want to make trades this week but see some final correctives I just need to make. Headache inducing, my man.

          • taylorwoof says:

            Headaches, i know the feeling!

Got a 3 Man Weave of Impey, L.Taylor & JKH as my F6. It's keeping me up at night. If Fasolo goes 75+ this week, i will be opening up the F6 to him with open arms.

            How are your correctives looking?

            • throttlefinger says:

Meh. Much to consider. Many around what to do with CCameron for KK. Can't do straight up. Worth the headache to bring in?

              • taylorwoof says:

Thumper does know how to find the pill, that's one thing. Just needs to cut out a few of the clangers.

                24 @ 83% last week, 5 clangers hurt his score (67).

                19 @ 58% week prior, 6 clangers (54).

I reckon sit on it until you see the teams. The table could throw up anything……see if Cameron is named first. Could be churning over something for no reason. Say Cameron get's dropped, then the decision is made a lot easier.

                • throttlefinger says:

Nice! Saw those numbers as well.

Truth be told, I probably don't have to trade. Having a touch of "rage trading" given that I haven't hit 2200 2 weeks straight.

Think you're right. If Cameron or Langford aren't named, then slot in for sure. Would like to get a true cash cow on my def bench. Those mentioned aren't going to do that. Sure KK will.

                  Thanks Twoof!

                  • THE SALTSHAKER says:

yeah KK looks the goods but hardly worth burning a playing rookie for him unless their JS is low. Daisy Thomas to KK would be my only suggestion if you have him and resting ellis or dunstan each week no longer a painful choice. He could smash a few hundys as he finds plenty of pill has good DE and those clangers very high so they should drop but as i say unfortunately is it worth using trade (on paper scores suggest not) but he could avg 80+ if you got plenty trades 30,29, 28 then why not?

                    • throttlefinger says:

Don't have Daisy, Salty. But you are very correct about burning a trade. Concern is Cameron is at the end of his earning rope. But he's still earning. Only will trade to KK if CC not on field. Or Langford.

                  • THE SALTSHAKER says:

Langford needs a rest very soon which im sure hawks will do. Few stars returning thru VFL Lake, Stratton, Shoenmakers. So Durea Lithland Spanger and Langford (probs in that order) on notice with Burgoyne Mitchell to return to mids once backline stars return.

So yeah KK might be viable option

                    • taylorwoof says:

I think Langford can still keep a spot in the side for a few more weeks.

Cheney and Spangher are the obvious outs for mine if Lake and Stratton return.

You just wouldn't want to have to start Langford on the ground. I have him and sweet Tommy Clurey on my bench. So i need him for cover.

Traded in Thumper after Laidler was dropped. That week i had to take a punt on getting Thumper in before he had played a game. Would of been forced to play a donut due to Sam Mitchell, Clurey and Laidler all out.

So yeah, i already have Thumper…..it was more my hand was forced by the selection table in Round 2.
If i didn't have him, i don't think i'd be moving heaven and earth to get him in. But it is right in definitely considering him if the circumstances permit Eg. Cameron or/and Langford are dropped….and u need that bench cover or cash cow maturing.

                    • Matt says:

Hickey on the bench? You must be rich

                    • taylorwoof says:

                      Hey Matt!

                      Rich, hahahahaha definitely not!

Before Round 1 teams i was set: Lberger, Sandilands / Currie, Thurlow.

But once Thurlow and Currie weren't named, then i decided to change plan. Thinking if Sandi goes down then i'm going to have to burn trades. Him being an awkward price….then it could become quite the painful process.

So decided to go Sandilands, McIntosh, Hickey and Max King (Loophole) for pretty much the same price. This to give me cover if Sandi goes down.

With LBergers early form, and McIntosh/Hickey starting well…..right now i'm happy it turned out that way #nomozz

                    • Jim from Gippsland says:

Boys…only trade if injury has hit I would suggest. Wait and see week.

  14. Jordan says:

I feel like i have a problem in the forward line, i have my premiums in Dangerfield, Buddy, Parker & Zorko. I have Caddy and Impey on the field along side them, Kennedy-harris and Mcdonough on the bench. Caddy has a high 50's break even and an average of 68 and impey is pretty average.. would it be a good move to get in Ambrose or get another premium or a mid price in there?

    Would appreciate the help

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

Ambrose may be out for a couple of weeks so no joy there. McDonough to Taylor is about the only rookie corrective trade I can see for you, and to be honest it's not necessarily good enough to burn a trade on.

      • Josh says:

What's wrong with Ambrose mate? I just looked up the injury lists and found nothing.

        • GarglesnarfFC says:

He missed last week after being named on the bench, and post game Bomber said he might be out for a couple. It could be a rest as much as anything, or it could just be Bomber playing ducks and drakes.

Wait and see what Thursday throws up at selection time.

          • kim says:

read in the paper today he has a quad injury so not playing this week, maybe out for a few more so don't trade him in just yet

  15. Swans2012 says:

Nup, reckon mummy might have done his dash, haven't seen him hold a patch of form like this for years, if a form reversal doesn't get him, an injury will. Great to see him smashing out big numbers though even if we (the swans and my super coach team) chose the wrong ruck to keep. I reckon the Canadian will do his bit anyway until nic nat starts banging big numbers again then as jock says, whooshka

  16. cyril says:

Not sure when Ambrose will be back playing yet

  17. alex says:

is anyone struggling with mcevoy?? thinking mcevoy to mummy or nic nat.. not sure if knee jerk reaction??

    • dustin says:

His averaging 100 and was a late out last week, why would you be thinking of trading him out when his done nothing wrong. Waste of trade, focus on other areas that you need improvement in mate

    • Daniel says:

      Good reliable second ruck.

  18. cyril says:

ive got him, Was hoping to set and forget about him. Not even sure what his injury is or when he'll be back yet

    • Daniel says:

Clarkson said McEvoy had calf tightness, they didnt know whether from a knock or a strain so rested him coz early in the year. Didn't sound serious at all.

  19. Paul says:

    Leuenberger for Mumford
    Kennedy for Kelly
    Or
    Leuenberger for hickey
    Kennedy for buddy
    Thoughts please

  20. David Johnson says:

How are we surprised that he's scored so well in the first 3 rounds? He's been up against SYD (Pyke), STK (Hickey) and MELB (???) … potentially the 3 weakest rucking teams in the league. Of course he was going to dominate early. Focus on the future. In the upcoming rounds he has WBD (Minson), ADEL (Jacobs), GCS (Nicholls), PORT (Lobbe) and WCE (Cox / NicNat) … overall much more challenging that what he's faced so far.

    • G_Man says:

and he'll continue to score well against an under-performing Jacobs, Minson and Lobbe. It won't be until the WCE game before he struggles, by which time he'll have generated and maintained enough cashola to trade to any you wish – with a cash back offer to i'd say. All in my humble opinion of course!

      • MightyDonsFC says:

Jacobs has lifted this year, minson and lobbe had one bad game but I have to agree with you about the wce game and his price rising.

  21. cyril says:

David is on the money I reckon.

    • THE SALTSHAKER says:

      Agreed

    • G_Man says:

Thats the beauty of this whole caper – risk versus reward. POD's don't come without risk but the rewards can set you streets apart from literally thousands. Thats why this game is soo addictive, the thrill of the chase!

  22. @Armige says:

What to do with Big boy McEvoy???

    • throttlefinger says:

Hold. Wait to see what his status is this week. Value won't be dropping and will be back in lineup soon. Would ride out until byes. Make swap to NicNat or other ruck if he's not performing like an R1 should.

  23. MightyDonsFC says:

    Smitchell or Bartel?

  24. Bray says:

Hey guys just wanting your thoughts on a a trade option. My foward line has, Zorko, Danger, Dusty, Wright, Caddy, JKH, Impey, and Taylor. I was thinking of trading caddy up to Luke Parker, thoughts.?

Thanks for the help in advance.

  25. Dogs says:

Forget mummy, the real question is how can we convince the afl to switch the freo v bombers game to Saturday and put melb v Carlton on Sunday. That way I can use king as captain loophole and see if bombers go against sandi lands with no dedicated ruckmen

  26. Rhino says:

burning caddy now his B/E is tipping the scales? thinking of jack macrae but not sure he'll keep firing at this pace, however; will be a good option with gaz/beams bye in round 8. thoughts?

    • THE SALTSHAKER says:

pick 5 ahead of wines, starting to pay off – cant keep this avg up for 2nd year player surely? however he is best option at that price and could rewrite history books, is playing great footy dont see why he wont continue to do so based on his mid time at dogs. If youve been frugal with trades go for it otherwise look for cashcows

  27. Adam says:

    May or Merritt?

  28. canman1306 says:

Think I have 4 trades in mind for the next 2 weeks. Will leave me at 23
    This week
    Caddy -> Merrett
    Langford -> Kolodjashnij

    Next week
    Aish -> Crouch
    JKH > Fasolo

What trades do you think are worth doing?

    • wes says:

Merrett is going to be out for 2 weeks… ?? wait on that one.
fasolo should be good to come in though
      not sure on others..

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

The problem with trading Lanford to KK is this. Langford (if he plays) will earn you $140+ by the bye. KK will likely be similar, also if he plays continually. In other words your trade is likely to earn you $0. If KK scores a 100pt average from here he will only you an extra $100-120k over Langford, which makes the trade acceptable but not great.

The only way this trade works is if Langford doesn’t play again before the bye.

      • Beady Eye says:

I suppose the flipside to that is whether Langford's output is enough to keep him in the team with Hawthorn's likely inclusions over the coming weeks, especially when they already have another player (Shiels) available to play the tagging role.

Agree that Langford > Kolo may ultimately net you the same profit, but he's got to stay in the team to do that. No such worries for Thumper.

        • throttlefinger says:

Fantastic points both Gargs and Beady. Have both Langford and CCameron. If they both are playing, both stay in. If one of them doesn't, then KK is in.

Keeping it simple as that…if for no reason more than my SC sanity.

          • WombatsFC says:

            I don't believe you Throttle.
I have seen your team structure and I believe that there is no chance that you will bring in THUMPER via a sideways trade or bench upgrade, even if somebody breaks.

Not really having a go at ya just reinforcing the THUMPER brand.

            • throttlefinger says:

Really quite simple. If I don't have to bring him in, I won't. Will take two trades to bring him in. Few players are worth that…and Thumper ain't one of them.

    • WombatsFC says:

Hi canman, do you come from Tasmania?
Nothing wrong with showing support for your fellow Taswegians unless it wastes a trade.

      • canman1306 says:

Yeah I am from Tassie But I haven't really considered Kolo Since he got injured in preaseason

    • Matt says:

I wouldn't do any of those. That's 4 players on the rise you're junking

    • canman1306 says:

Just putting it out there Not Really Sure what I am going to do with my trades in the next few rounds. But I Will work something out

  29. Rhubarb_Ronin says:

Torn on my decision to trade Caddy for:

Breust, Zorko or a speculative like Darling.

Breust is in for a solid year, Zorko’s score was an aberration (but I’m a Lions supporter so may be biased/in denial) and Darling could go either way but looks set for 100+ unless Lecrad’ injury forces a restructure.

Also, if Enright’s out again, will consider downgrading to either Jaensch or J Kelly by way of a Mid swing. Either would generate cash to settle my Forward line by the bye rounds but the trade would change my starting Def structure. I feel I’ve missed Jaensch but Kelly could still get the vest in coming rounds.

    Thoughts community?

    • Dan says:

Zorko won't pump out scores like he did R1 and 2, but he should perform better than he did last week. Breust is looking comfortable up front with the absence of Buddy and you could be on to something with Darling. I haven't seen enough of any of them for mine, not sure they will finish in top 10 FWDs, however I have seen enough of Caddy and it's time he got the boot, you'll have to go with your gut. Also I think Jaensch is rubbish (but I am a Port supporter). I haven't been paying attention to Kelly either so I can 't comment but I don't think it's worth burning a trade over at this stage though. I would hold Enright, even if he's out, provided you have decent bench cover.

  30. Unknown says:

Any point in trading kade simpson and tom Mitchell? both going to go down a lot in price on their current averages.

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

      No

      • Jai says:

Only trade them out if you have reason to believe theyre going to average under 90 odd from this point in. I don't see any reason why they wont average 90 from here on in

  31. Clint says:

gday boys and girls, need some help with my forward line: Dusty, danger, buddy, caddy, impey and ambrose, (JKH, Taylor) Need to fix it up, and need help !!"
    cheers community

    • Juzzie says:

Mate i reckon you get caddy out and upgrade to a luke parker or tom mitchell if you have the $$$$

      • GarglesnarfFC says:

It’s not having Caddy that is the problem though, he is still likely to score over 60. Your two starting rookies with the only decent scorer in Ambrose out, leaves you with two players scoring 40-60 or worse.

Do you have any cash to upgrade a rookie?

      • Matt says:

Tom Mitchell got subbed last W/E :-(

  32. Beady Eye says:

Provided he maintains something near this sort of form, I believe all this has done for Mummy's status is elevate him to one of the ultra-premium ruckman (along with Goldstein, Minson, etc) that everyone was planning on upgrading Sandilands to later in the season. If you've got an injured premium or one that's crapped the bed, by all means make the trade. Otherwise, hold until Sandi maxes out and enjoy having an extra option to choose from when the time comes.

    • Sean says:

Good point Beady, would Leuenberger be worthy of using a trade for Mummy? Or hold?

      • Beady Eye says:

I'd probably hold for at least a couple more weeks, hopefully enough time for Leppo to realise that Trent West is a spud and let Burger ruck solo.

I've got somewhat the same problem with Cox losing points to West Coast's other rucks, but am resisting temptation so far.

    • Matt says:

Upgrade Sandilands? Someone please slap some sense into this guy

  33. Mike says:

i have polec, dunstan and tyson and can only start two of them who should i start? Thoughts on a danger to wingard trade?

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

Danger to Wingard? Lets have a look at both.

Wingard – AVG 91, dropped $20k in price & will drop another $40k over the next weeks based on that average.

Dangerfield AVG 93, dropped $38k in price & will drop another $48k over the next weeks based on that average.

As Higgo said in the podcast, trades are too precious to waste on a trade which does not give you a likely big lift in points or a big lift in dollars or preferably both. This ticks neither of those boxes, in fact Wingard actually averages LESS than Dangerfield despite playing in a team that has two wins, meaning that Danger has more potential for upside.

      Hold

      • Jai says:

That's right Gargles. We picked Danger for a reason, because he is a proven premium. We have faith. If youre trading Danger out after the last couple of weeks… you really have little idea about supercoach.

He has been sub par for sure, but still averaged 93.

I feel in the next few weeks he is going to go ape shit and pump out a few 150s

    • Sean says:

I'd start Tyson and Dunstan, mainly because they're both contested ball winners compared to Polec mainly being on the outside. This usually means more consistent performance.

  34. Tani says:

    Guys help please,

I need a def rookie upgrade from LRT (dont know wat I was thinking). I already have Grifith, Langford and Georgeou. What are the best options? Is LMac still worth bringing in?

I want to upgrade ambrose to someone more likely to generate cash over the next 3/4 rounds. I have Rohan and Frost are my other fwd rookies.

Would really appreciate some suggestions. I have 227k in the kitty.

    Thanks, u guys rock.

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

LRT> KK. Simple easy do it.

I would love to tell you it’s all flowers and cupcakes with the forward rookies, but it ain’t :). Hold Ambrose for now, if you have enough cash left in the kitty after bringing in KK, then trade Rohan for Merrett/MacRae or if not then Taylor is the least worst option and could be considered as he should average 60ish long term and still make you upwards of $150k from here.

      • Tani says:

Thanks champ. What are ur thoughts on using dpp to get langdon to def and bringing in M crouch be better?

        Thanks again :O)

        • GarglesnarfFC says:

IMO, despite his higher price, KK is better than Crouch for 3 reasons.

          1. As they share the same bye KK will get 1 more week to go up in value before rnd 8, meaning you have more money to play with if you trade him out that week.

          2. KK is less likely to get the vest

          3. Better number of disposals for KK, and if he can reduce his clanger numbers, his scores will improve further.

  35. WombatsFC says:

On the Contrary I think it may now be too early to bring in his help. He will lose much of what he has gained over the next 6-weeks and will be valued close to his starting price, getting him now is like paying 90k for the right to say "I have him" just as he enters a 5 week run of sub 100 scores.

Loving the reverse psychology Jock great strategy 'look dumb think smart'; a brutal and slightly sneaky method for sorting the oats from the chaff.

    • Jai says:

you are a phenomenal thinker Wombat. I like it and I agree with you

      • WombatsFC says:

Thanks for the rap Jai but I'm just trying to put a few cats amongst the proverbial pidgeons.

    • throttlefinger says:

Haha. Pretty hilarious take, Wombats. His price will drop based on what? Please don't say last year with Swans. That was a different team with a different ruck setup.

Are the rucks he's been playing against that bad? I mean, Minson hasn't been lighting the world on fire. Neither has Jacobs. And as a solo ruck, and I'd submit one playing very well, he may not get 130+ every week but I doubt Mummy will dip below 100 that often…much less 5 weeks (which was added for dramatic effect).

In other words, highly speculative take with more empty calories than nutrition.

      • throttlefinger says:

Said with all due respect, my friend.

        • WombatsFC says:

Lol I understand the fact that you chose Mummy over GAZ influences your opinion and I too would try and cover up such a monumental mistake with predictions of career best form continuing against teams that have previously haunted him and who have thrashed him around the ground.

If it wasn't for Mummys outstanding injury free history and long record of always playing every game and finishing stronger than he starts I'd say people were crazy for trading him in:-)

          • throttlefinger says:

Obviously someone needs a refresher coarse of what a fact is and what is speculation. You have the latter down. Or have hit the bottle a little early.

Had Ryder. Got Mummy before value went up. That is a fact. And a move I stand by.

Getting Gaz after R8. That has always been the plan. I'm still very comfortable with it.

And wasn't predicting career best form. Just he wouldn't go sub 100 5 weeks in a row, as you did. That's a monumental long shot. Yes, he will go sub 100 a couple times. And he may be out a week or two with injury. But his form every other week will justify the move.

Those who don't have him, I'd only suggest bringing him in if your ruck is injured.

      • Jai says:

        Pike – decent tap ruck
        Hickey – inexperienced
        Spencer – baked potato spud

It wouldn't be the worst move bringing Mummy in… I just don't see him busting out many 120s from here on… more 90s – 100s with hitouts to advantage going down and Giles taking a larger load vs the more experienced and hardbodied ruckmen. Happy to be proven wrong

        • throttlefinger says:

Those are fair points. And I'm not advocating bringing him in at this point. Just saying that his descent may not be as great as some may think. He shared the ruck last year and still average 91. Think he might do a bit better this season as a solo ruck.

  36. MightyDonsFC says:

Thoughts on bartel + Rohan out jaensch + merrett in?

    • Matt says:

Probably not. Jaensch has been above average for 2 weeks, Bartel elite for 10 years. So there's a loss. And Rohan may just come good

      • dean says:

        Agree with Matt.
Jaensch i dont think you can call proven as apposed to Bartel, But Merrett in is looking good, I have considered that myself

    • Gilly says:

I think you are just chasing last week scores with the Bartel to Jaensch trade. I don't have either but would be far more confident in Jimmy averaging 100+ than Jaensch. I have Rohan at the moment holding but looking hard at Fasolo

  37. Jai says:

    • throttlefinger says:

He's also a tackling machine, which is SC gold. HO won't be as high but high enough to ensure plenty of tons ahead. But yes, the 130+ games won't be seen as much.

Also, Mummy's competition is really THAT crappy? Sure it's not as good but hardly as bad as everyone is making it sound. The others haven't been playing world beaters every round. In fact, Jacobs has had Hamish, Lobbe, Pyke, only 112 vs Pyke (and that's an apples to apples comparison)

How many other rucks you see going to average 107? Wouldn't say a lot. On that, I'd say he's a good investment. But again, if you have a solid ruck, stay with him at this point.

For all my blustering, I voted "no" on this in the poll. Good night all!

  38. GarglesnarfFC says:

Bartel is averaging 98 (going down another $30k on that avg), Jaensch 109 (going up another $100k). It’s only 11pts, but $130k in cash is not a bad trade, medium risk, medium reward.

I wouldn’t do it as Rohan is F7 for me, but if Rohan is currently your F6 then its worth doing just to get the bludger off the park, 20 pts per week is a coach killer.

    • MightyDonsFC says:

Yeah it's mainly to get him off the field

      • GarglesnarfFC says:

Then it’s pretty much a no brainer MDFC. Any downside at all from Bartel down to Jaensch is more than offset by the massive points increase by getting Rohan out.

  39. Ollie says:

in my mid I have 5 rookies (Tyson, polec, dunstan, ellis, aish) and 5 premos (ablett, pendlebury, beams, murphy, redden). I am thinking of upgrading one of my rookies (probably aish) to selwood which would leave me with 200k left in the bank.

is it too early to upgrade?

    all thoughts much appreciated.

    • Beady Eye says:

If you can get him in easily enough, and there aren't pressing concerns in your other lines, go for it.

Interesting to see people's different approaches also – I'm going the other way and filling up my defence and forwards with keepers, which has left me with Pendles and Beams (plus Fyfe when he returns) to go with all rookies in midfield. Not sure how I feel about it TBH!

    • Derek says:

Are you going for overall ranking I would do it. If league win i would wait and fatten up the cows for a few more weeks.

By the finals, everyone will have Selwood

      • Ollie says:

yeh think I might just wait and fatten up the cows and then later on , like the crouching one would say, bang bang 2 premos in 2 trades

    • Matt says:

"is it too early to upgrade?"

      lol. Maybe a bit.

  40. GarglesnarfFC says:

    Boys & Girls

Michie out for 4 weeks with broken jaw – confirmed report from afl.com.au.

Thats too many weeks to miss making cash elsewhere, time to get him out and look elsewhere to Kelly or KK etc.

  41. Michael says:

    Hi all.

Just wondering what everyone thinks about being able to start McDonald, Langdon and Kolodjashnij? I am extremely keen to trade McVeigh to Alexis Georgiou and then use the remaining dollar to make JKH a premium (Cyril Rioli), meaning I wouldn’t have to start Lewis Taylor. Or I could make mcveigh – Jaensch and then make caddy – cyril? Thanks guys.

    • Derek says:

Can you move mcveigh into the middle (use Langdon or McDonald DDP). If you can, you can do a straight mcveigh to rioli trade using Taylor as your trade swing.

      • Michael says:

Love the thinking mate, and I’d do that if I could. unfortunately I can’t tho! Thanks anyway

        • Derek says:

Otherwise, all you will be achieving is swaping McVeigh with Rioli and using 2 trades to do it.

I love Rioli, but SC he will be frustrating. Where McVeigh, once the season gets going he will be consistent and less injury prone than Rioli.

  42. @camerjones says:

Hey Jock – SPECIAL as always my friend – two questions:
Corey AintRight – cut losses and bring in The Burgoyne? Save some coin and get someone on the field cutting good figures?
Susan Renouf at Port Adelaide – any point in keeping him or doubtful he'll crack into the Power team of SA – downtrade to Keens Currie at North?
    Cheers bloke,
    CamerJones aka A Mighty Wind

    • Sleepy says:

In regards to Renouf I remember on one of these discussions Mick the Mad Irishman saying even MacGuyver couldn't fix Renouf LOL maybe that your answer

    • Gilly says:

No to Burgoyne, I love him (hawks fan) but he won't avg more than 85 over the season, Enright hasn't gone below 90 in the last 15 years

  43. Guest says:

A good trade option for Bernie Vince?

    Thoughts community?

    • chandanrajdb says:

If you are looking to trade OUT Vince then….

Josh Kelly from GCS….downgrade Vince to him and you will make nearly 200K…..

      Thats my thought mate….

      Good luck…
      Raj…

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

Why would you trade out Vince after 1 bad score?

He averages 91, and went up $9k, and still has upside. See last week TAT from Mad Mick. This guy is a hold.

    • Ocker says:

Totally agree with Garglesnarf FC on this one.
Trades are GOLD do not waste them.

      Cheers.

  44. Danny says:

    Hey Guys
This is my number 1 site for SC, but I'm still nugget at this gig. A little help please as my FWD line is poo.
Danger, Dusty, Zorko, Caddy, Impey, L.Taylor, Rohan and JKH….I have 96K, going for league win.
A fair bit of dead wood there, no dpp's in my midfield.
    Please help
    my idea is
    Caddy to Darling
Rohan to Colledge (now that leCras is out) leaves me with 42K and good midfield and def cows
    Or is that just sideways?
    Cheers

    • Branks says:

Maybe you could upgrade Rohan to Marco Paparone or Shaun Higgins, who have averaged 61 and 71 respectively.

    • Ocker says:

Hi Danny, You are not wrong you should have at least one more gun in there.

I would trade Rohan to Fasolo.
Keep Caddy this week or you will have to field 2 average rookies.
I would not part with Taylor because he is a good bench midfield swing for you when required.
Trades are like GOLD do not waste them.
In saying that I do like Darling as an option this year but it still leaves forward line weak.

      Hope this helps,
      Cheers.

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

My initial reaction is no to both.

      1. Colledge has played one game, no reason to trade him until he’s played 2 and is on the bubble.

      2. Caddy is not the problem with your forward line. Starting two of Impey/Rohan/Taylor/JKH is. So unless your trades get a rookie OFF the park, I can’t see the point.

      3. Darling is a Burnman, he burnt me last year along with many others. I cannot see him being a top 8 fwd by seasons end therefore you are burning a trade now, knowing you will need to do it again in a few weeks. Hold Caddy til round 8 bye then burn and churn him into a genuine rolled gold premium with some rookie cash.

In looking at your situation I can only see two possible options, Rohan plus $96k means you can get… Hi… Hhhuurrrgghhh… Higg… I cant say it (I’m think i’m going to be sick). You can get the other well known Burnman from the Dogs for $281,400. Averaging 71, and with about $40-60k of price increase in the next 3 weeks he is a stop gap, to help get you some points whilst other rookies go up. The other option is Fasolo, however like Colledge he has only played the 1 game.

I’m going to the chemist now, I need some quick-eze after recommending Higgins, Bleugh!!

    • Gilly says:

I agree with Gargle, Caddy aint your problem. On current form he is going to avg 60-75 points if he improves his de that could go up 10-15 points.

I have Taylor JKH and Rohan, going to watch Fasolo this week thinking of maybe rohan to fasolo next week as I need to start 1 of the 3 rook's I mentioned. At least they are playing

Also don't be afraid to take a deep breathe and hold your trades for 1 week. Perfect example last week Ambrose was the most traded player then a no show and hearing reports of quad injury.

  45. Buffman says:

    need some advice guys.

I didn't start with either Pendles or Ablett and spread my team a bit more at the start with Beams being my most expensive midfielder. Do I bring in Ablett this week (trade out Rosa who did his job the first 3 weeks)?

    Also,

what forward rookie should I bring in??

    • Dan says:

What does the rest of your midfield look like? I would bring in one of them, you need somebody better than Beams to put the C on each week. Who have you gone with as your captain for the first three rounds?
Bring in Fasolo if it's urgent, but otherwise I'd wait for Ambrose to get fit, depends what the rest of your FWD line is like.

      • Buffman says:

Beams, Dal Santo, Shuey, M.Thomas, Murphy, Tyson, Vince.

Fwd: I have a good FWD line except Rohan is on the field…..

    • Derek says:

After this week, suns play hawks, have a look at who Ablett plays, that will answer your question

  46. Noah says:

thinking of trading goldstein to hickery and then JKH to Merrett but worried about getting rid of goldstein because he is a gun and is due for a big score and then merrett failing for the next few weeks and not going up to far in price
    Thoughts appreciated
    Thanks

  47. crackin2 says:

currie or derickx with the better job security ? watched currie on the wkend the boy cant mark yea?

  48. Dan says:

Anyone know (or able to comment on) fitness of Hodge/Enright?

  49. Tommykwr says:

Does anyone know if Ambrose will play this week
    Thinking of downgrading from Rohan
    Cheers

    • MightyDonsFC says:

Plants to do the same thing but it isn't looking likely, upgrade him to Fasolo if possible

    • Dan says:

Ambrose will be out for a few rounds mate. You might want to go to Fasolo if you're desperate to rid yourself of Rohan.

    • MightyDonsFC says:

Or down to colledge (wce forward) should see game time now that lecras injured

  50. brandon2416 says:

brang in ambrose last week for rohan what should i do keep or not
also should i keep enright or not

    • cyril says:

I'm the same I've had ambrose for two weeks and Enright from the start. I think i'll hold onto Ambrose and wait for more info on Enright as ideally I'd like to keep him for the season

  51. JJM says:

Mummy has done his job so far and hope he keeps it that way until Minson and Goldy in price.
Then bang, bang out Mummy and Sandi in Minson and Goldy. But this is the least of my worry right now.
    Who should I bring in
Caddy to L Bruest C Rioli Or J Roughead
Cashing in J Aish to D Buckley (playing against the Dees this week should boost in price)

    • Ocker says:

      Caddy to Gun okay.
Aish to Buckley = waste of trade. Aish will go up another 100,000 yet.

      Cheers

      • cyril says:

hold onto Aish longer to make some more coin

      • JJM says:

Which of those guns are more likely to be consistent? Roughead can score big when his on fire but not consistent, Rioli and Bruest are the ones I'm leaning towards to, but who out of those two should I pick before they hit premium prices.

    • Gilly says:

      No to both for me

  52. Ocker says:

    Caddy to gun okay.
Aish to Buckley = waste of trade.

    Cheers.

  53. Gazza says:

Anyone still hanging onto Fyfe? I had a122k in the bank and am seriously eyeing off a swap to the baby jesus. Thoughts Jock, Higgo, Community?

    • Bob McBob says:

Might as well keep him and save a trade for now. It's only one more week on the sidelines if I'm correct

  54. George says:

Thoughts on Pyke > Mumford? (Would need to free up 60k though)

  55. Andrew says:

Pyke to mummy? Thoughts ? Reluctant to waste a trade but might have to!

  56. Vic City says:

Tempted to bring him in for Pyke but feel it is too sideways. It is either that or Rohan to Merrett.

    • Emma says:

I have pike keeping him as to late for Mummy, might look at Nit Nat in a few weeks and consider Pyke to Nit Nat.

  57. J. Baine says:

    Need some wisdom community

I have McEvoy that I'm looking to off load with 51k in the bank leaving me just shy picking Mumford
Who would my next bet be? Can't afford to have him on the bench as I only have Currie for cover who barely musters a score.

    Cheers guys

  58. Paul says:

What are your guys thought on trading McVeigh for Jaensch?

    • SC Gun says:

I have just done the same thing, thought Jaensch probably is a flash in the pan, but then i looked over his preseason scores and he did really well then as well.

  59. Thoughts says:

    McEvoy for mummy?
