Supercoach 2014 preseason podcast

It’s not how we perform in fair weather that defines us.

It’s how we respond when we are pummeled to within an inch of our fantasy football life.

Some coaches will be wondering how they will recover from a week where no one could escape the wrath of the fantasy footy Gods.

They looked down upon us in the wash up of a high scoring round 1 and they unleashed hell.

But here in the Jock Reynolds Fantasy Footy Community – as we look with rat cunning and fantasy genius towards round 3 of the AFL home and away season – we dance. We dance in the face of poor fortune. We drink up adversity and we spit out brilliance.

Enjoy the show our beloved community.

  1. log says:

man what to do with mitchell and enright D:

    • Matt says:

I think im gonna keep both. Should be 0-1 week injuries and will therefore be back for the start of League competitions for me.

      • log says:

on the 9 footy show this morning it says mitchell could be 2-4 week injury and its still up in the air because apparently its a calf but i could be so wrong haha :P. Im a bit worried.

        • Matt says:

I've read a couple of articles saying Mitchell is on track for the next match, but i could also be wrong! I guess we'll find out later in the week

          • log says:

Yeah for sure mate. For our sake plus im sure many others i hope your the correct one!

            • dannyyboyy says:

im sweating on those two aswell. i wanted to correct two of my rookies this week, that throws a spanner in my gameplan

              • log says:

yep im in the exactly same boat as you mate. need to get in ambrose. but my 5 mid rookies are ok with polec, dunstan, tyson, michie and aish still have 30 trades left.

    • @daveywarhol says:

Simple. You wait for the news. If they are playing next week, sweet. If not, then you write down your 'must-dump' list and your 'must-get' list. Somewhere, these two lists will marry up and that, my friend, is your 'lock of the week'. Welcome.

    • matthewjsampson says:

I'd say hold if they're only set to miss 1-2 weeks. But you could consider a downgrade to Swallow or even a performing rookie you don't have to pocket some cash.

  2. Billy says:

any word on how long sam mitchell will be out for??

  3. Carey says:

Thinking about a radical move Jock…thoughts on this: Mitchell out for Matt Thomas. 2 games over 110…seriously consider? On the bubble too of course.

  4. Matt says:

Preeeetty happy with most of my team apart from rookies. Have Mitchell, Enright & Hodge in defence, but they should all be back come league Round 1.

Would you suggest trading Rohan to Ambrose and then possibly Michie to Tyson, or just using the one trade in Kennedy-Harris to Ambrose.

    Thanks :)

  5. Autofelatio says:

I'm in a cold dark place Jock, the burns are the only things keeping me warm….

  6. Matt says:

Not sure whether to keep daisy and Matt wright. Any thoughts community?

    • Carey says:

Get rid of Daisy…get Murphy if you haven't already or Beams. Matt Wright could be traded down to a Matt Thomas? frees up some cash to use elsewhere.

    • Matt says:

KEEP DAISY. Just scored 92, for a player costing 341k, dont know what more you could ask for. Sure he started a little slow, but he'll come good.

As for Matt Wright, if you can work out a way to trade him for Dom Tyson I'd do it, but if hes stuck in your forward line I'd probably say stick with him. Not many value forwards at the moment, other than MAYBE Pat Ambrose.

    • cam says:

      Keep daisy but offload Wright

      • Matt says:

Thanks fellas, I have Matt wright in my fwd line and I’m trying to find a way to downgrade him to Matt Thomas, any ideas?

        • Jimihk says:

I'm sure this goes against popular opinion but I'd hold onto Wright. Adelaide's draw really opens up after rd 3 and Wright showed enough in the NAB to be given a bit more time.

    • Unknown says:

I would personally keep daisy and as for wright, I would personally trade him for a guy like zorko and downgrade a rohan to ambrose to get the cash.

  7. Pete says:

I get the feeling the decisions we make post rd 2 will shape our seasons!!!

  8. Scythe says:

    - Shannon 'Burn'
    – Matthew Leuenhamandeggberger
    – Not-so-Super-Pav

What to do, what to do?

  9. Kev says:

All things considering I had an okay round – 2134. My main issue is Ryder. I didn't want to jump on nic nat until after west coast bye but in the long run is he a better option than mumford who has bolted out of the gates?

    • throttlefinger says:

Bum ankle + sub play = bye bye. I have him as well. Just don't care for his form. If he was doing better I'd hold out until Bellman comes back. Looking at either Mummy for consistency or Hickey for the loot.

    • Jimihk says:

Mumford is a proven 100+ player. If you go for him you should be expecting to keep him for the rest of the season, I wouldn't get Mumford just to swap him out for Nic Nat down the track.

I've got the same issue with Ryder and I've downgraded to Hampsen – gotta get the warchest built up for mid rookie upgrades in a few weeks.

      • throttlefinger says:

Yeah Jimi I'm leaning towards either Hickey or H-Mac. Like Hampson but don't think he'll have the same output once Maric comes back.

      • throttlefinger v2 says:

        1 season of 100+ average is far from a proven 100+ player…….

        • throttlefinger says:

Nicely said, Wombats, oops, I mean, TF V2.

Case you can make is the season Mummy was 100+ is the season he was the solo ruck for the Swans. Much like he is now. He should be strongly considered. But no doubt he comes with a lot of concerns.

          • jacob says:

hi throttlefinger, would you think tommy boyd would have an impact on mumford?, potentially more ruck time for giles / patton, mumford resting more in def/fwd line?

            • jacob says:

surely he would get game time this year

              • throttlefinger says:

Hey Jacob. Think Giles would be more affected with Boyd getting more time. Mummy seems to be hanging more in the back than the front. Most of the times any ways.

Boyd hasn't seen any time yet and doubt he'll get much time early unless they get hit by injury (which is possible with Patton). See him coming in after the Byes. Never know.

Kelly looked strong didn't he. Came off the bench mid 3rd and racked up 58 SC pts. May be seeing more of him.

  10. jacko says:

    Do I keep Danger?

  11. Harry says:

Thoughts on Zorko? Thinking of upgrading Wright to him before he goes up 60k but he burnt me last year…. real deal this one?

Other option is to draft in Jaensch, depending on Mitchell's fitness. 2 x 100+ scores are good, but can he keep it up?

  12. Callum says:

Bloody traded out McDonald for Langdon only because out of my 3 def rookies, he seemed to have the worst js and sub likeliness. Will now go Ryder to mummy and Rohan to Ambrose

  13. Alex says:

Help needed, should i trade out Dale Thomas, move Luke McDonald to the midfield and get in David Swallow OR trade Dale Thomas down to Matt Thomas OR should we hold Daisy.

  14. Jezza says:

Well Jock, I responded with 2415 no issues here

  15. Teen Wolf says:

    Had a pretty good round,
    2285 Team
Def: Mitchell, Hanley, Enright, Terlich, Mcdonald, Langdon (Georgiou, Tippet)
Mid: Ablett, Selwood, Fyfe, Deledio, Beams, Rockliff, Polec, Ellis (Dunstan, Crouch)
    Rk: Hampson, Sandilands (Thurlow, King)
Fwd: Martin, Zorko, T.Mitchell, Caddy, Higgins, Rohan (Impey, Kennedy Harris)
Thinking of making 2 trades, trading Rohan for Ambrose and trading either S Mitchell or Enright for David Swallow. It will give me 150-180 in the bank.
    Thoughts guys?

    • Teen Wolf says:

I think the best thing i did was pick Zorko over Dangerfield.
I know people will hate me on that but the stats at the moment speak for themselves.
Also, Given Dangers performance, his price should go down shouldn't it? And if he keeps performing like last round then his price will dip more so why wait until his price goes down to snag then pay over 600k for him?

      • Fabian says:

Sounds like good trades. Bring in KK for Tippet the week after and your teams's pretty set. Otherwise maybe look at getting a plying mid rookie for Crouch to generate more cash.

        • Sarah says:

Crouch might come in this week for his brother so wait for the teams before trading Crouch out.

  16. Benjamkn says:

Jock really unsure desperate for answers! Who should I go in the ruck department, with Ryder injured do I go to Mumford or Shaun Hampson. Cheers

  17. Ben says:

Jock really unsure mate on what to do! I have Ryder injured and am tossing up whether to put in Mumford or Hampson

  18. Jimihk says:

Mitchell, Ryder and Webster all injured on the pine.

Which two should I move on this week?

    • Harry says:

I have the same dilemma. Ryder gone for sure for Mumford. At this stage I plan to keep Webster as still think he'll rise in value when he plays. So I'm weighing up between Mitchell and one of my forwards depending on his injury. Calves can be tricky so Mitchell will probably be out for mine

      • throttlefinger says:

Moving Ryder. Not sure right now if I'm going up or down. Love Mummy but he's had it easy on the ruck front. May be worth going down to Hickey or Hamish and get a steady 80+ score for the rest of the season. Injury concerns I know.

Webster I'm keeping another week. Less concerned about him than I am Matty Wright. Big disappointment.

        • Jimihk says:

          Cheers boys

News out of Essendon today is that Ryder is still a chance to play Sunday as he'll have had a 9 day break between games.

Always risky to put off a decision for a bloke playing on a Sunday but I think I'll hold fire at this stage as I have R3 cover.

          • throttlefinger says:

Decision I'm facing is if I want to deal with the drama of Ryder anymore. His price is going down $24K and with a bum wheel, what worth will he give us for keeping him around?

            • Jimihk says:

I can't argue with your logic but for me he plays, whilst he'd still be a liability, he'd no longer one of my top 2 concerns.

              • throttlefinger says:

And I can't argue wit your logic as well, my man.

In the same spot. Guess you and I will talk on Thurs after selections.

  19. Daniel says:

Anyone found a good site for break evens?

  20. Jiles says:

The big Pavlova.. Hold or downgrade?

  21. Caz says:

Do I stick with leunberger or not?

    • Jiles says:

I reckon burger will come good.. But if you have no other issues that need fixing you could go down to Mumford

    • Pieman1978 says:

Don’t trade premos without an amazing reason. You’ll look back later & say WHY

  22. cyril says:

Well im going to have to use two trades this weekend.. Got Enright and Mitchell and not sure if they will be back.

Also got Adcock (492K) averaging 54 so far and Savage…. (341K) and averaging 19

I'm thinking I need to get in Langdon and Thomas to generate some cash. Savage definitely has to go, so i'll get Thomas for him. Thinking of dropping Adcock for Langdon and hoping for speedy recoverys from Enright and Mitchell. Or I could go Adcock to Swallow an give up on getting Langdons price increase Any thoughts?

    • Scythe says:

Definitely Adcock to Swallow. With Savage, only go to Thomas if you already have Tyson and Polec, as those two will score much higher over the course of the season, and they're cheaper.

  23. throttlefinger says:

No one like Hamsh Mcintosh? 80+ points for $333K is a steal.

    • zimmerbd says:

      Injury history makes me wary.

      • throttlefinger says:

Yep. Me too. But between Hickey (who could have toe injury that follows him) and Hampson (won't have solo ruck when Maric returns) he looks like the best downgrade option.

        • Dools says:

Hey TF, HMac is post by round pick up mate me thinks, if you want the cash generation go Hamspon as I believe Ivan is still out for 4 and most likely vested for 1st game back So I selling you what you already know mate (only gut can answer for ya…Will he keep it up? I think so for a few more rounds screaming Mooooooo to the Bank buddy

          • throttlefinger says:

Hey Dools! Glad to see you and Keyboard are doing well.

Right now it's either go with the herd to Mummy or go with a strong downgrade. Hampson is being considered. Like Hamish'sssss consistency so far against squads with strong rucks. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

    • Michael says:

No love for Pyke? More than holding his own at his price…

      • throttlefinger says:

Like Pyke. Don't love. Think he'll shrink against the better rucks. Laying off the Swans until form turns around. Already have McV and JPK. Don't want to add another.

    • markstar9 says:

even when he was fit and playing well though, he was never typically a great scorer if i remember correctly? I dont see anything to suggest he will score any greater than before? Especially if hes eased in following injury! I'd even see hickey as a better option in that price category

      • throttlefinger says:

Yeah. I'm losing interest more I dig in, Markstar9. Shares role with Simpson. Leaning toward Hampson or Hickey, although Hickey's toe and knee a bit worrisome.

  24. @daveywarhol says:

Last week, I went against the podcast's advice and traded (Smitchell>DSwallow, GRohan>LHunter) which worked out for this weekend (I understand that means bugger all.) This week I am going against the podcast's advice and trading Buddy>Zorko. This weeks trades for me are due to 'baggage' of 2013. I would have picked Sam Jacobs and Zorko at the start, but because they burned me last year, I hesitated. So I picked Ryder and Buddy instead. As much as I would love to get Dom Tyson and Pat Ambrose, I just really friggin' can't stand having Buddy and Ryder in my team. BANG BANG YOU LEAVE NOW!!! Welcome.

    • throttlefinger says:

Haha. Like your last week gut calls. Definitely got a good radar, Davey.

Who you liking for Ryder? I'm going back and forth between Mummy and Hickey/TMac. Like Hampson but think his numbers will drop once Maric comes back.

      • @daveywarhol says:

Coming from the man with a 100% captain record! I'm going Mummy, of course his average will drop from 140, but his form is just too good to ignore. Jacobs pumped out a 2013-esque score this week, not going there again! Hickey, Kreuzer, Goldstein, Minson, Ryder and Leuenberger all have injury concerns, Nic Nat and Hmac are underdone, so in my mind there is simply one decent ruckman left!

        • throttlefinger says:

No Gaz makes you data dig for best cap options. In other words: lucky.

Agree Davey. Leaning that way as well. He won't go 120+ that much more often. Maybe even not 110+. But he's the solo ruck and like him against those you mentioned. Outmuscles those skinner rucks. WCE may be the only team that gives him a rough time.

      • GeneralSoreness says:

        Mummy all day throttle.

        • throttlefinger says:

Hear ya, Gen Sore. May go with the herd on this one. Part of me wants to zag. Gonna do a bit of re-watching and data diving between now and selections.

          • GeneralSoreness says:

I agree with your points on Hampson and If Hickey wasnt under an injury cloud, turf toe, and Mac wasnt injury prone I would not be as bullish.

            • throttlefinger says:

Gonna wait to see what the deal is with Ryder. May be minor and Dons have last game of the round.

Crap scores tends to lead to overreaction. Gonna take a couple thousand deep breaths, do a bit of research and wait to see who's selected or not on Thursday. Have Webster as well so if he's out again may have to dump.

  25. WOMBATS says:

not sure whats with all the hype over mumford… only ever had the one season averaging over 100 a few years ago and a couple of good games doesn't make him a must have (always had the ability to pump out huge games), will come back down to earth and will make everyone who traded him regret it !

    • WOMBATS says:

a young ruck man like nic nat has much better upside and safer pick if he remains healthy

      • WOMBATS says:

and if anyone wondering what WOMBATS (the self proclaimed supercoach genius) is doing this week, only the one trade: michie to tyson, had tyson in all preseason, downgraded to michie last-second, now wanting to fix up only foreseable mistake in team

        • throttlefinger says:

That does make me laugh a bit as you were so pimping Tyson over Michie during pre-season and NAB. Some geniuses are sometimes just too smart for their own good.

          • Dools says:

Ah! Wombats, Go back to the map of Tassie for some inspiration mate
Sounds like a good trade to me by the way but I am laughing at the fact behind you was the Leader of the Community Dom Tyson overlords and neither of you picked him Hilarious !!!!!

    • WOMBATS says:

and why all the love for matt thomas on the podcast but not for tyson????????, cheaper, still great output, nearly identical break-even and better bye support (round 10 compared to 8), more cash generated and better JS

      • throttlefinger says:

Because most people not named Wombats have him.

Is Tyson for Michie the only trade you're going to do this week, my man?

        • Dools says:

Ohhhh!!!!!was that Sarcasm……..LOL. Poor Wombats is copping it….. Come on 'Bats tell the CIA to stop reading your play…

      • Ocker says:

Wombats, 23% of people have Tyson in their team it was spoken about last week.
Less than 2% of people have Thomas and is very good value, I do not have him myself as he has the round 8 bye but am still considering putting him in for cash generation. I have had Tyson from day one.

        Cheers.

    • Dale says:

Unless this us his second good year, or he makes enough cash to trade up to the round four-five ruck supreme. Big start. Big, big start.

    • Derek says:

Mumford's first two games have been against his old team (was always going to play well against them) and Saints. Wait until he get against the good teams.

      • GarglesnarfFC says:

Now he's at the No.1 Sydney team, he doesn't have to worry about carrying the whole squad, no wonder his scores have improved!

    • Pieman1978 says:

Wombats. Exit the burrow & head for the grassy knoll. You might be shot at & your not quick. But it’s all about the journey! Good luck

  26. crouching elephant says:

if mitchell is out for a few weeks, would shaun burgoyne make sense, starting strong, more mid time with sewell/hodge/mitchell going down/injury concerns, dominated in port in the centre

    • Cyril says:

Yep I reckon. I had him all last year. Showing no signs of slowing up

    • Gilly says:

Personally i'd say no. I am a Hawks fan but Burgoyne is a 75-85 point player. Can turn it on when team needs like aka Friday night but often just plays his role off the half back flank. Think there are better options out there.

    • Christmas in July says:

As a Hawks fan I'd be only trading in the magnificent Burg in if Mitchell's injury is worst than first thought. i.e. If his injury is <2 weeks, hold.
      The positives of Burgoyne are…
1.) He's not picked in many teams (POD)…
2.) He usually thrives during big games…
      3.) A big last quarter finisher…
4.) Hawks draw is tough (almost everyone in the top 8 to be played twice)…
      [{(Potentially an ingenious trade)}]

  27. guesto says:

Like the way your thinking crouching elephant! Would be handy after the Hurn debacle…

  28. guesto says:

    ^you're

  29. Jack says:

Does Ziebell have to go if there are no other trade dilemma's??? have 179k in the bank so could upgrade to watson?

  30. Harrison says:

Mcdonough and DEF premo (Mitchell, Simpson, Enright)? out for Zorko and Matt Thomas

    Which Premo?

  31. Calum says:

Traded out Luke McDonald last week, should I get him back in for michie this week? My other trade is Ryder to mummy, but if I get like McDonald back in, means I vs t get Rohan, thoughts?

  32. canman1306 says:

What Trades do you think I should do this week?
    Ryder -> Mumford Enright-> Swallow 100k
    Ryder -> Hampson/Hickey/Hmac Enright -> Swallow 280K

If option 2 which ruck and why?

    • Jerry says:

I have the same problem. I want to downgrade Ryder as I can't decide on which ruck is a season keeper. Would prefer to strengthen my team elsewhere with cash. With the ride move I can go Gary Rohan to Zorko.
Before hearing the Podcast and the hickey concerns, I was all over hickey due good two weeks (granted week 1 was not a test). Now I am hunk Hmac but he is also an injury risk.
Hampton might last til round 8 when the tiges have the bye?
Flip a coin I think. All 3 have there risk.

      • Sarah says:

I've got the exact same problem. But I'm thinking if you're trading in the ruck you want to trade in a keeper, not an HMac or Hampson who you'd probably have to trade again in the future.

        • canman1306 says:

It is Very Hard Decisions this week I also Have Mitchell and Rohan Problems to attend to but I am not terribly worried about them.

    • Jimihk says:

I'm leaning towards holding off on trading Ryder.

Bombers seem to think he's still a chance to play + Bellchambers is still around 4 weeks away, so they'll definitely play Ryder if he's close enough.

      • canman1306 says:

Just no there are better options

        • Jimihk says:

True there are but as I said to LT, if Ryder plays he will no longer be one of my top two concerns.

If he doesn't play then I'm back to square 1.

  33. Tom says:

Webster OUT, trade Langdon to DEF and bring in M.Thomas (only 10k more expensive)
Elliot/Caddy OUT, trade in Zorko with the extreme low BE for quick cash generation.
    Thoughts?

  34. Derek says:

It might be a good thing that Mitchell misses another week. Hawks play Freo this week and we know who will be waiting for him.

    • Sarah says:

Exactly. I'm not trading Mitchell. Got plenty of cover on the bench with Georgiou and Langford so I'm going to keep him… at least for this week.

  35. Gilly says:

I have got Rohan, Kennedy-Harris and McDonough thinking of shifting McDonough for Ambrose as I think the other two might have better js.

Also have Mitchell and Webster on def bench. If I do the above trade fall about 60k short of turning Webster into Swallow. Might have to sit tight and hope for the best on the injury front unless someone has an idea??

    • Jacob says:

Rogan to Ambrose will make you 70k. Probably a good move.

    • Dean says:

I would get rid of Rohan and put in Ambrose, by trading out Webster to Swallow is a HUGE WIN WIN because your going from a ordinary Mid/Lower priced player in Webster to a Premium in Swallow. Also your getting rid of a expensive rookie in Rohan who has a B/E of 14 and is only projected to go up $10,000 in round 3 or a maximum increase of $20,000 at his peak.
With Ambrose he has a B/E of -69 and is projected to increase by $60,000 in round 3 and a massive $240,000 increase at his peak. I think these 2 moves are a NO brainer especially so when getting someone like Swallow in your defense mate… Good luck with your team..

  36. Dom Tyson says:

i have to get dom tyson into my team
at the moment my midfield is
Ablett, Libertore, JPK, Beams, Murphy, Polec, Ellis, Dunstan, Luke McDonald (subbed him in here when i got rid of matt crouch for langford) and michie.
i am considering trading out liberatore for tyson and then upgrading either matt wright or gary rohan to zorko
    THOUGHTS?

    • Sarah says:

Why would you trade out a premium who just scored a hundy for money????
You've got plenty of good rookies already… you can't have them all. If you really want Zorko, why not trade Michie to Cunningham and then Wright to Zorko (not 100% sure whether your costs will be covered here but it's worth a look first).

      • Dom Tyson says:

i know i hate the fact that i will be trading out a premium but if i can get zorko in thats a premium forward by seasons end and then dom tyson at this production level will increase by 200k+ by mid season. This trade will not only earn me money through cash cows but it will also leave me with 315k in the bank so i can bring in another premium in a week or 2 say if caddy doesn't perform or even rohan out for dalhaus next week.
so the way i see it the pros outweight the cons

        Pros:
Get a premium forward, Get an extrra mid cash cow (a big cash cow i might add too), large sum of cash in the bank, chance to trade in 1 to 2 premiums next week (caddy or rohan for any fwd or viv michie to any 500k player), Getting cash cow that is going to dominate melbourne midfield

Cons: Lose a premium that can play football very very well

        • Dean says:

Makes absolutely no sense what so ever. You want to trade out a premium like LIBBA to get a rookie, so then you can purchase another premium… If you don't do any trades your exactly in the same position, granted you will have cash in your kitty but your trading out a premium to do so.
You have enough good rookies. If you have Rohan in your forward then your much better off getting Ambrose in because someone like Rohan will only be going up around $20,000 overall yet Ambrose is projected to increase $60,000 by round 3 and $240,000 overall.

I think round 2 is most defiantly a corrective trade week and 90+% of teams will be trading 1 or 2 players. However in saying this If that's the only trade you can come up with then you must have a bloody amazing team.

  37. GeneralSoreness says:

Thanks again guys for a fantastic podcast, makes my morning commute enjoyable! As an added bonus I don't have to listen to "thelistmanager" hahahahaha on SEN!

  38. Assuming Sam Mitchell is fit I will be trading:

    Viv Michie > Matt Thomas
    Gary Rohan > Patrick Ambrose

That should make me a big better off $$$ wise.

Still trying to work out what I will do if Sam Mitchell is out. Hesitant to go towards Swallow. Either Swallow, Hibberd or Hanley. And Michie to Thomas.

  39. Zaydan1 says:

I only have one trade left after I traded Wright down to David Swallow

Viv Michie > Dom Tyson or Matt Thomas
    or
    Matthew Wright > Dayne Zorko

    thought on which second trade

  40. Marcus J says:

Currently hurting alittle about zorko. had him in my side for some of the preseason then took him out and out in t.Mitchell. he has done okay but no where near as good as zorko

i got problems in my forward line which consists of Dangerfield, Roughie, Mitchell, dahlhaus, rohan, mcarthy, impey and jkh
    and 14k in the bank

    Dangerfield, Mitchell, dahlhaus are staying

at the moment im considering dropping roughie and bring in ?? and upgrading one of the rookies.

any help or input would be greatful

    • Derek says:

I didn't know Roughie was injured? Keep premiums unless they are long term injury. Hold him.

    • hmmmm says:

roughie will come good just look at last years opening performance with scores of around the 50's then averaged around 110 for the middle to end half of the season, stick with him. proven gun

      • Jerry says:

People seem trigger happy with the trade button. Think of who will be top10 in each position and if you have one on those players and they have a bad week, there is no reason to trade. Roughie and danger will have to be top 10 forwards, so hold. If you didn't start with them, build the cash to buy them around the byes.

  41. JOE RICHARDS says:

Gday guys, Out Masten In Tyson
Out Rohan in Martin/Wingard which one of those too thanks?

  42. Fabian says:

Was getting excited round 1 then BAM! Hurn the burn. Cotch and danger under perform. Luey, buddy , Wright and Caddy are begging to go on the chopping block and I selected Cluery over Alexis G. BANG BANG is a must but need to work out where the priorities lie. Glad I didn't go in with SMitchell. Would have made things even worse.

  43. Jason says:

Any idea how long Hurn will be out for ?

Who would be the best replacement for him if i trade him out ? Am thinking Swallow or Burgoyne …..

  44. Derek says:

Swallow is the obvious choice, be careful of the Swallow bandwagon. Don't just get on because everyone else is.

  45. Sarah says:

Ok guys, round 1 was great, round 2 not so great.

I'm thinking of doing the following trades which would leave me with $340k in the bank for my first upgrades in the coming rounds:
Ryder to Hickey (obviously dependent on how his big toe is!)
McDonough to Matt Thomas (which moves Lewis Taylor to the forward bench)

If Hickey doesn't come up then it'll probably be Mumford.

    Thoughts?

    • Pieman1978 says:

Like the Ryder trade. I learnt my lesson with him last year. I think your other trade is a great option as well. The contingency plan with Mumford also very good. Good trading all round.

    • The Ranger says:

You've got to get Mummy in if you can haven't you? He looks like he's playing to prove a point this year.
I jumped on him last week and I'm hoping he's a lock for the season. If not then there's the obvious Nic Nat trade option.
And Thomas looks like a no brainer too.

    • throttlefinger says:

Logical choices. See a bit of bolter in Thomas. But at the price not a bad roll of the dice if he can keep 85+.

Ryder…hmmmmmmm. Either going up to Mummy or down to Hampson. Hickey looks wobbly and don't think he'll do well vs. WCE or other stronger rucks. Styles make fights and he did well against solo ruck, back liner Mummy.

Been considering Hamish too. Solid 80 points against solid ruck sides. Injury prone so not leaning strongly.

    • WombatsFC says:

      Foolproof and Genius

  46. Tom McVilly says:

    Hey guys,
what on earth do I do with dane swan! do I give him another week cause I know he can score very big but he is a bad form slump at the moment!
    Any advice?

    • Remy says:

Only because he's price will drop severely, trade. It's a hard decision to make, but probably the right one. Also, Buckley noted that he would be playing some of their midfielders forward against the bogey sides (not saying that Sydney are an average side).
Some radical trading options could be….
Swanny—-Matt Thomas. Huge downgrade, generating big $$$
"—-Richie Douglass. More of a sideways trade, but certainly looked good in a losing side.

    • canman1306 says:

If you can get the Cash for Pendles Ablett Go for it. if you can't Watson is a great Option

  47. Rotten Mongrels FC says:

Worth doing a bit of rookie shuffling? Thinking of:
    1. JKH to Ambrose
    and/or
    2. Lemmens to Tyson
Already have Polec, Aish, Dunstan and Ellis in the mids so don't really need Tyson for his score but would be a better cash cow if he keeps this up.
    Would love some advice.

    • BCHawks says:

I definitely would do both of those trades. JKH has gotten the vest in both games so will likely get it again and Tyson average is over 100 so should get a huge price increase after round 3 if it stays that way.

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

      Do it! Bang, bang

    • Rotten Mongrels FC says:

      Thanks fellas

    • Derek says:

Lemmens isn't the worse to have. Has a -16BE, is predicted to rise $45k over next 2 weeks. Tyson has a -95BE but because of his higher price will only rise $95k over next 2 weeks. Be patient.

    • Jerry says:

Surely JKH will get more game time. He looks like he can play. In a couple of weeks you may wish you kept him.
      Lemmens is a good trade!

  48. PAUL ALLISON says:

NEED HELP HURN ,MITCHELL,HODGE,ROHAN, INJURED WHAT DO I DO?

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

I have a similar problem Paul. With none of Enright, Hurn, Mitchell or Laidler guaranteed a start next week I am staring at two donuts on the field. I am willing to trade out Hurn due to his price drop of almost $100k over two weeks, but not Enright or Mitchell if possible. I also would also like to get rid of Michie from the mids, and bring in a cash cow.

I have found a solution which corrects both onfield donuts in defence by moving one to the midfield where I have a full book of players. This may help a few of you out.

Trade out Hurn/Enright and Michie, swing Mitchell/Hodge into the mids and then trade in a premo defender (Hanley/swallow/hooker) and a defence rookie or mid pricer like Georgiou, Langdon or Jaensch. This can still help you earn cash and spreads one of the donuts into your mids. Probably adds 170pts over the 2 donuts and saves you about $150k over two weeks, not a perfect solution but the best I have thought of so far.

Not for everyone but what do people think?

      • benisbill says:

Solid strategy. Not sure when we started counting Hooker as a premium defender though!

        • GarglesnarfFC says:

Well he probably isn't, but he's scoring like one ATM. Will be Hanley and Georgiou for me.

    • Pieman1978 says:

Pray.Rohan to Ambrose. Hodge or Hurn to Swallow or Bartel. If ou wait a fw weeks McVeigh's price should drop.

    • WombatsFC says:

Get Hodge & Ryder and we'll both have the same problems. A problem shared is a problem halved.

  49. JBomb says:

Thoughts on dropping Gaz? how far will his price drop? I'm in need of urgent funds!!!

    • JBomb says:

Then again they are playing Lions this week… tough call :/

      • Sarah says:

        What price drop??
His BE is 126, he's projected to get 128. It's highly unlikely he'll go down at all.

    • SC Lover says:

His projected to go up by 1k,

Pendlebury on the other hand, 30k he will be well over 700k by the next round, WOW!

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

Give yourself a slap on the head DiNozzo style, crazy talk!

    • Derek says:

it doesn't matter if his price drops if you don't sell him.

    • Pieman1978 says:

JBomb what are you smoking mate. Drop Gaz, you can't be serious. Soon as you do that he'll score 247 & leave you in the fetal position for a considerable period of time. Surely you have better options.

    • thats just crazy talk man. keep him. make him captain. and then superglue your fingers to the desk.

  50. Christmas in July says:

    No.

  51. Billy says:

What are peoples thoughts on Matthew Jaensch?

    • Derek says:

I would have preferred him to my mid-price selection, Guthrie. Unless you have him already, he is hard to consider, even if he has a -54BE

    • hmmmmm says:

to risky , probably average around 70 for rest of season. look at past

  52. lostlarrikin says:

Looking at options to bring in M Thomas.

Liking Higgo's suggestion to downgrade and under performing prem into him (vs my suggestion to trade out a rookie).
With that in mind, I have some concerns around Rocky and his outputs for the rest of the yr.
Although he was tagged by one of the best in the business after racking up 12 touches in his 1st quarter of footy, I reckon opposition coaches will be looking to apply the same heat to him and see if he "cracks" again. Definately some frustration shown there when under pressure.

TU: Rocky > M Thomas (and pocket $340K)
TD: Aish > M Thomas (and fork out $80K)

    • BCHawks says:

I would keep Rocky as he is a high priced player and has earn't the price tag. He will bounce back no doubt about it. Going from Aish to M Thomas would be the option that I would take, whilst you have to fork out 80k you keep a premium and M Thomas's price will go up 80-90k after this next round.

      • Dools says:

OMFG Are you serious after 1 game you have dissected how Rocky will be used LostL????? Your plums must be in a wheelbarrow mate…Nah He is a very good premium and he is back this week, and watch Zorko the Magnificant SC score plummet!!!!

        • lostlarrikin says:

          Lol mate.
          Just throwing it out there…

Tbh like many I am sweatin on Mitchell and Enright

Still have concerns on Rocky considering his dance with Mitchell.
For me it's not about how he will be used but how he copes with being abused.
Yeah I'd be a fool to dump him after 1 game but he needs support from his mates so he doesn't become the no.1 target every week.
Hanley and Moloney certainly took some heat off last yr.

          • Dools says:

I hear your grief mate I to have Enright and Mitchell and if I throw in Webster, Head slap me if it happened so nearly repeated a Hurn burn trade last week Pheew so I took the 2116 pts on the chin and neglected my Capt. choice which somehow defaulted to Beams So Happy with team structure but if I follow the pack and go Enright for Swallow I'm trading round 8 Bye for Rnd 8 bye So keyboard and I are really thinking Wookie!!!! Next G what's Pittard why I can't fathom but he is up to some caper……Thinking maybe Webster to Hanley and Parker to Ambrose No I can't loose Parker for a maybe player for 3 weeks So I'm fighting in the mud of the trenches mate too

            • lostlarrikin says:

Not sure that's mud ur in there Dools.
Webster to Swallow looks the best choice for mine but depends on ur strategy.

I doubt they'll risk Enright on the 6 day turn around, so really hoping Mitchell pulls thro.

This sort of carnage across all lines will see many abandon aspirations for overall, me included.

            • Rocksta says:

Do you have Burn man Higgins Dools?
I went Higgins to Ambrose, , and used the cash to upgrade Caddy ( whom I never rated and got sucked into having) to Zorko.
              Thoughts?

              • Dools says:

No mate I stayed away from most burn men (HurnBurn, Higgins Burnman, Barlow bad leg and Nat Teenwofl Fyfe etc. etc.) so I may have copped in the mud of the treaches but now it's someone else's turn ZI hope the Baleful eye of the SC Gods may have passed over me!!!!

    • Derek says:

keep Rocky. if this your biggest problem this week you are doing ok ;)

There will be other "Thomas's" come along later in the year, that will be better for your timing. Just because you missed this one, doesn't mean the end of the world.

    • Pieman1978 says:

      Trade Rocky. Computer says no

  53. jonty says:

Considering trading in Sandilands despite his reputation for injury. Is it too risky, or is his bubble to big to ressist?
would McEvoy or Minson (my current ruckman) be the better trade

  54. BCHawks says:

Yes I would trade him in but if you didn't and he got injured you would be one of the only people without him.

  55. sputnik says:

Am I confused? How is any player going to go up 90K in one week? This seems ridiculously high for SC price increases. I thought the highest increases were around the 50-60K. Can someone please explain? I thought Jaeger only went up 50K in his first price rise last year and he was bottom price to begin with- so how is anyone going to go up 90K this? Has the pricing system changed?

  56. Mitch says:

    Im in strife lads.

Got enright, mitchell, Dane swan (looks injured )

Going to use two trades this week. Do I bite the bullet and trade out swan to Marc Murphy then enright or mitchell out for a swallow. Will pocket fair bit of cash and I’ve also got pendles had beams so 3 collingwood players is probably to many with the round 8 bye. Or a swan to Watson?

    • BCHawks says:

Hey Mitch, I think that you should keep Sam Mitchell because I think that his injury is only light and there is a good chance that he could play on Friday. I would personally do what you said and trade Swan to Murphy and then Enright to Swallow because Enright's injury looks a bit more serious than Mitchell's and after round 3 Swallow's price will be around Enright's if he gets another 100+.

    • Liam says:

You're in trouble? I got Enright, Mitchell, hurn, savage and webster!! Added to that non playing rookies crouch and clurey. On top of that traded Shuey last week! The fantasy gods really like to lay the slipper in when you are lying on the ground motionless in a bloody mess!

  57. hmmmmm says:

    pavlich to zorko ?
    franklin to zorko ?
    or hold, ?
    feedback greatly appreciated

    • Pavlich to Zorko, before the price differential widens too much!

    • Was at the Swans game on Saturday, Franklin moved well, his feed was just rubbish. Give Sydney a few more games to gel with Franklin and he should start scoring well.

    • BCHawks says:

I would personally go Pavlich to Zorko. Although I don't always like doing sideways trades Zorko's price will increase a lot at the end of this round even if he doesn't have that great a round where as Pavlich's price will drop considerably unless he gets a huge score. I would give Franklin another couple of weeks he was starting to show some good form on Saturday and should start to get higher scores. Whilst his price will more than likely drop after this next round it will go up as the rounds progress and he starts to get higher scores.

    • Derek says:

      HOLD Pav.

Freo have a very tough draw up to their bye in round 10 (reminds me of Hawks last year). What it will do is toughen them up and after the rest they will go woooshca.

If you get rid of Pav now, it is unlikely you will consider getting him back.

Zorko will forever be the great Fantasy Siren. Say away.

      • Super_Freak says:

I think you may need to sit and watch a Brisbane game Derek. Zorko looks primed for a huge year, playing a different role to last year, and also looks fitter. Kicking myself for not picking him straight up. Get on him!

        • hmmmmm says:

          cheers boys for the advice

        • Rocksta says:

I agree Superfreak. He is a highly skilled player.

Zorko's problem last year was his Tank, and playing predominantly forward. Both these problems have been rectified under the new coach. I reckon he will end the year averaging over 100

  58. Roc says:

Thoughts Jock and Co. on trading a defensive premo to S May instead of D Swallow, generate some cash and add to the war chest?

  59. Victor says:

Want to get rid of Daisy. Who should I trade in, Matt Thomas or Dom Tyson?

    • markstar9 says:

id say matt thomas purely because job security is good but he will be working in a better midfield and less likely for his team to get smashed. I reckon that correlates to a better chance to score well more regularly than tyson who will most likely get shut down later on

  60. thats just crazy talk man. keep him. make him captain. and then superglue your fingers to the desk.

  61. Danners16 says:

Hey guys, I'm planning to bring in Matt Thomas, but I'm not sure who for? My team at the moment is
    Def-S.Mitchell, P.Hanley, N.Malceski, D.Swallow, L.McDonald, T.Langdon (J.Laidler, A.Georgiou)
    Mid-G.Ablett, T.Liberatore, M.Murphy, D.Beams, L.Shuey, J.Polec, X.Ellis, L.Dunstan (V.Michie, H.Cunningham)
    Ruck-S.Jacobs, A.Sandilands (T.Derickx, F.Thurlow)
    For-P.Dangerfield, D.Martin, L.Parker, D.Zorko, J.Caddy, L.Taylor (J.Kennedy-Harris, J.Impey)
    About $160000 in the bank.
I was thinking of a big downgrade like Liberatore to Thomas, then upgrade a rookie defender.
    Thoughts?

    • BCHawks says:

Hey Danners16, if I was you I would trade out V.Michie for either Matt Thomas or Dom Tyson. I wouldn't trade out a premium as they will give you a 100+ average and besides your defence is good enough already.

  62. Cheeseman says:

Like most I have Mitchell and enright in the back lines, will need to wait for news on them but if both are only going to be 1-2 weeks I might hold onto them to save trying to get them back later. It will mean banking on my 4 rookies in Langdon, Langford, McDonald, georgiou to play each week , and only leaves mcveigh and suckling for more consistent scores.

What are people's thoughts on suckling? Is he going to start scoring more than 70 ? I have the cash to upgrade him to swallow before the price rise, so if I sit Mitchell and enright on the bench I guess I will need to do that trade

  63. Adam says:

God damn Fyfe getting suspended again!!!!

  64. Danners16 says:

Hey guys again, just wondering who a good premium forward to get could be? I have P.Dangerfield, D.Martin, D.Zorko

    • BCHawks says:

Hey Danners16, although Roughead only got 49 he should bounce back and is a good option if you plan on picking him up after this round as his price should drop. Onother option is Riewoldt who is playing at career best form although he has only versed Melbourne and GWS. Other options are Harvey/Parker/Mitchell/Lobbe and many more.

  65. Ryan says:

    Hey guys,

A question for you, I have Gary Rohan, JKH, Lewis Taylor and Zac Merret as forward rookies and I want to trade one for Patty Ambrose. I am leaning towards Merret as he has worse JS than JKH. I also have 213k I could upgrade rohan instead? but for who? not many options at that price.

    What are your thoughts?

  66. Coffs Coast Slurry says:

Litle bit of help re trades. Tossing up between Enright to Jaensch and M Crouch to Wines OR Enright to Swallow and Crouch to Tyson?? Thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!

    • cam says:

      Definitely the second option

    • Dools says:

Hey buddy I think you need to go Oli Wines but I do like the Enright trade $400k Boom….Sets you up for next week

    • Gilly says:

I like the second option myself. I think the output will be at least the same if not better than option 1 and have more cash up your sleeve for the next trade

  67. Brogre says:

What are you doing in my swamp?
Shrek is love. Shrek is life.

  68. Derek says:

Is there anyone in your mids that you could upgrade or downgrade Swallow to? You can use his DDP to swap him into your DEF with Mitchell (if he is out) and once Mitchell is back on deck, you can swap Mitchell with Langdon to DEF anagin.

    • Cheese man says:

I'm pretty happy with my mids, have ablett, Barlow, rocky beams, treloar, Tyson, polec, dunstan, Ellis, Cunningham . Only problem is none of them have DPP .

Only contemplating the trade if both Mitchell and enright are out, so as to bolster my score a bit, that's why I'm thinking suckling to swallow, or I have wright in the forwards that I could upgrade with $150

  69. Matt says:

At the start of round 1 traded riewoldt and hanley for roughead and mitchell
    should i revise my choice

  70. Wolfey says:

I need some help this week I'm struggling on who to bring in this week.

Should I bring in Matt Thomas, Dom Tyson, or David Swallow

I've already made the decision to offload Ryder for Mumford.

    • Max says:

Swallow is likely to be in your team by round 23, while Tyson and Thomas are less likely to be, so on that basis I'd trade in Swallow

    • markstar9 says:

definately swallow –> keep in mind the trade should help increase premium stocks and swallow is most likely to be a keeper out of those!

  71. Brendan says:

    Gday community,
I want to trade out dale thomas as i don't see him generating enough cash early on in the season. (BE of just 50). I have decided on two options, trading down to Matt Thomas or trading up to Oli Wines. Both have low breakevens and will go up significantly in price. I like oli wines as i reckon he will turn premium for the rest of the season saving me a trade while i think matt thomas will eventually run out of steam and will force me to upgrade him later on.
    Your thoughts would be appreciated

    • Danners16 says:

Ollie Wines hasn't proven himself yet, so bit of a risk, Matt Thomas winning the SANFL best and fairest looks more like a reliable option and is cheaper.

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

Why move him on? He just scored 93 and his week 1 score drops out for week 4, he will go up a little this week and plenty the next especially if gets another 90+.

    • Rocksta says:

      Hi Brendan.
Daisy had an interrupted pre-season and is still not back to full fitness.
The Blues will need him in the guts and he is only going to get better as he gets fitter.
I wouldn't trade him to either of the 2 you mentioned as they are both effectively sideways trades.
If you were going to trade him down to a cheap well performing rookie( Polec,Dunstan,Ellis), or up to a proven Premo, then that would be okay IMO

  72. Fabian says:

Fyfe ! ARGHH NOT AGAIN! NOT AGAIN!

    • Dools says:

Ya buddy he is out for 2 for a cheap forearm / elbow to players head….. So have you got cover???

  73. Max says:

    Evening community,

    I have a few trades floating around my mind, but I'm not sure which ones will be more effective than the others. I've got 150k in the bank, so assuming Mitchell and Enright stay on my bench for a week or two, some options are;

    1. Michie – Tyson/Thomas
    2. Wright – Zorko
    3. Wright – Swallow (through swing sets)
    4. Rohan – Ambrose/Thomas/Tyson
    5. Higgins – Thomas/Tyson/Ambrose

Which two of these trades do you think is best?

    Brilliant podcast as always, gents.

  74. JOsh says:

Who would be better to trade OUT

    Elliot
    OR
    Caddy

  75. cyril says:

    Elliot

  76. Tom says:

Is it worth getting Mumford for Goldstein?

Mummie looks good whilst currie may impact on godly’s output

    ?????????

    • JJM says:

Personally I think its worth it. saving yourself $100K and use that to upgrade elsewhere or save it and wait for the price change after R3. Top of that Goldy has a bye in R8, maybe pick him back after the bye.

    • Pauly says:

Goldys not fit mate , who's your R2,3,4 – I have Leuenberger and thinking going to the Mummy

    • Danners16 says:

For me, it depends if all your other positions are covered, if so go ahead

  77. JJM says:

    Pittard – Pendlebury
    Mitchell – Jaensch

    or

    Pittard – Hanley
    Mitchell – Wines

leaning towards Pendlebury Jaensch, I might not be able to afford Pendle after R8 bye and hate missing his 100+ output. Jaensch well he'll just be my stepping stone Hanley the following week.

    Thoughts

    • hmmmmm says:

if your looking for a POD in jaensch , good pick but look at previous years, not proven and could be a waste of a trade but great reward. Pendelbury more reliable so i would be looking to get him in but not sold on wines and hanley

      • JJM says:

Not planning to keep Jaensch that long. Probably by round 5 the most he will be gone. I’m just using him for cash generate for the next two rounds while my rookies blossoms. Then bang Jaensch becomes another premo in defense.

    • Jimihk says:

Depends on your structures but if you don't get Pendlebury now it's going to be a fair few weeks before he price drops.

    • GarglesnarfFC says:

      Option 1

    • throttlefinger says:

Option 1. Because it has Dependlebury in the equation.

      • JJM says:

Yeah. That equation is very hard to ignore.
Specially looking at my Mid with him in it looking very solid going into Round 3
        Ablett Pendlebury Watson Murphy
        Beams Macrae Tyson Polec
        Dunstan Ellis

        • throttlefinger says:

JJM, really? Is this even a hard decision?

          • JJM says:

I wanted another premo in defense the likes of Hanley and thinking of grabbing Wines as a stepping stone to Pendlebury while the Rookies generates more cash. But my concern is that, what happens if we another week like this week. With injuries and all, then I might get another chance of getting Pendle in the team as don’t see his price dropping much at all.

            • throttlefinger says:

Defense is always the hardest nut to crack. Both in finding a consistent scorer and taking the value at the right time. Think Goddard and Enright were the ones you could count on the most.

I'm sticking with my back line for a bit and see how it pans out. Think Hanley, Mitchell and Bartel's prices are going to drop. But I hear ya, JJM.

Way I look at it, Pendles looks like he's game is on the upswing. And that's just a staggering thought. Get on when you can.

yep i have hurn mitchell webster and hickey , im feeling ur pain

  79. G Ablett 3 Votes says:

Hey community, which of these 2 options are the best choices this week?
Option 1: Trade out ryder for hickey/mumford or play derickx or currie as r2
Option 2: Trade out an enright or mitchell to get swallow
Option 3: Trade out d.thomas or michie to get m.thomas or d.tyson
    Option 4: Trade out g.rohan for p.ambrose

    • Rocksta says:

      Trade out Enright for Swallow.
A bit of a sideways trade but you will pocket some $70k whilst covering an injured player. Enrights Injury looked like he'd be out for a few weeks.
      And
Trade out Ryder for Hickey ( Depending on how serious his toe Injury is). He looks bloody good around the ground.

    • markstar9 says:

id go ryder to mumford – proven ruck and ryder wont score as well over the course of the season – at least mummy is the dedicated no1 ruck!

Id wait on enright or mitchell to see how they pull up, daisy should stay ok as long as he doesnt get injured ..although michie to tyson is decent.

Otherwise id just say rohan to ambrose for the cash injection… but its rookie to rookie — > ambrose has less job sec than rohan.

    • Gilly says:

If Ryder fit go rohan to ambrose and michie to Thomas/Tyson. If Ryder has to go, personally I have Mumford but Hickey seems to be scoring well.

  80. SCtragic says:

looking for help, not sure if i should get Thomas or Tyson both scoring well and i also have Michie

  81. Donavan says:

Looking at the double trade ths week, my current thoughts are-

    Enright > D.Swallow

Rohan > Matt Tomas (swinging L.Taylor from mid to fwd)

This would leave my defence with –

Premiums – Mitchell (prepared to hold/wait), Hanley, D.Swallow
Rookies – Langdon, Langford, Georgiou, Webster (prepared to hold/wait), McDonald

    And mids-
Premiums – Ablett, Pendlebury, D.Beams, Cotchin, Priddis (Premium?)
    Mid – Price – M.Thomas
Rookies – Tyson, Polec, Dunstan & Aish

    Thoughts?

  82. Azza says:

What to do with Goldy? Trade or Hold?

  83. Shamrock says:

Thoughts on picking between: Dom Tyson (Melb) or Matt Thomas (Ric) ? Thanks

    • hmmmmm says:

toss of the coin, good luck

    • Dools says:

Got back in Tyson mate, and generate some extra coin for same output methinks

      • throttlefinger says:

Agree. Tyson has much more upside. Less downside across the board.

        • Jim from Gippsland says:

          dools and throttle my mates.

You guys (and a few others) have been saying there is more upside to D Tyson Vs Mat Thomas.

Could you explain a bit further my learned collegues. I'm just not seeing any real difference between the two besides the price. For me its a one or the other option as it is panning out so I need to find a way to split the two.

I worry about Paul Roos talking about changing team structure on 360 last night, I also worry about Dan Jackson coming back and affecting Matty scores.

Its going to be one of those 'whichever you choose the other will do better' options, wont it?

          • throttlefinger says:

            Hey JFG.

Sure Roos will make changes but not at the risk of declawing one of his better performing cubs. I just see Tyson as an in the guts player who won't grab a tag and won't tag either. Tough and hungry. With a coach that will only encourage and push him to do better.

Jackson and Thomas may "make love in the mid" as Crouching One said, but that will be at the expense of Thomas's SC prowess. And I'm sure Conca and Ellis will pick it up as well and steal some points away.

As a Tiges fan I really like Thomas. SC-wise, he has a bit of bolter in him. Tyson I can see increasing in value easily $200K and maybe $300K. But I don't think you can go wrong with either. Whichever works better in your team should be the guide. And, of course, the all-important gut.

            • sputnik says:

depends if thomas grabs this chance by the short and curlys.

Deledio and Cotchin proved pathetic against carlton and had no influence whatsover in the tigers win. Cotchin didnt even get ONE measly tackle in the game- not one! That is a very poor quality and a big stat that has to be recognised. If he cant be hungry enough to get one single tackle against arch rival carlton then maybe he isnt hungry enough to help propell the tiges deep into the finals.

if you think thomas is hungry for his opportunity to excel then risk him.

Melbourne are crap and play this possession football that will not last so all these touches tyson and vince are getting will dry up.

              • throttlefinger says:

Don't totally agree with that, Sputnik. Carlton is one of the best tagging teams. And always play the Tiges tough. Lids played good but far from soiling the bed. Thomas can be hungry but I very much doubt he will feast on too many 100 point games.

Tyson has enough distractions with Jones and Vince that won't affect his point totals too much. Once they get some height in the front line, will make things easier. Had a bad game vs. WCE, which isn't surprising as they are a vastly superior team. Sure the game against GWS will have them doing a little better.

                • sputnik says:

Im not sure what you disagree with but i'll agree to disagree. Cotchin and Lids were an embaressment last week and didnt aid the tigers win at all. DT wise they got 35 points between them in the second half and thats a disgrace. This is the tigers year and they need to lift against bottom half sides like carlton. And carrots wasnt playing- any taggers you refer to are carlton b-grade players.

Tyson wise- his scores will drop off in the next 3 weeks. Its Ok for Melbourne to play possession footy and get stats but thats gonna change in the next month. GWS will embaress melbourne this week and overall I would say most teams are vastly superior teams compared to Melbourne. Roos will change their gameplan in the next month because the more possessions the melbourne players seem to have the more mistakes they make. They have a tough year ahead and will have splinters in the mouth at years end courtesy of the wooden spoon

                  • throttlefinger says:

Cotchin didn't play up to form, that is true. Lids had an outstanding first quarter then they put Everitt on him and his game got muffled. Still banged out 96. Not great but hardly an embarrassment.

Look, I'm a Tiges fan. They should've blown the Blues away. No argument there. Especially with Walker missing. But Blues always get up for the Tigers and someone the Tigers let them back in. How much is that players and how much is that coaching? Probably good arguments for either side. Yet I think your assessment is a tad harsh, seeing as both helped contribute to the W…which in the end is ALL that matters.

Disagree about your forecast about Tyson. Kid is a player and will find ways to get his fill. May not average a ton for the season but has AFL experience and skills to make a good run at it.

The team may have wooden spoon written all over them but I'm not going to judge them after 2 games. We all thought the Saints were going to be horrendous and they didn't turn out to be that putrid. Plus, they have a pretty good coach. So yes, tough year ahead but it may present some us with some SC gold.

I don't see anyone with problems regarding Big Cox in the middle, does no one else have him?? Eagles playing 3 rucks, and unfortunately this week I have bigger problems to take care of…….but Cox has to be on the chopping block?!! What are peoples thoughts?? I am paying way too much for Swan and Cox for their output……I'm already flirting with trading out Swan for Thomas and then my other priority must be getting rid of one of Mitchell or Enright in my backline for a cash grab in Langdon I'm thinking……..this would leave me with $916,400 in the bank

    • Wattsieesq says:

I've got Cox and I'm keeping him the entire time. He had an off day. He is class and will score points.

  88. markstar9 says:

Hey guys, I'm thinking about trading out mitchell and m wright, bringing in swallow and zorko .. any thoughts on this? The hawkers are playing freo which is typically a shut down team so if mitchell does play (without the support of hodge too) he might have a reduced output regardless which will shoot his BE up even more? any thoughts?

    • Rocksta says:

      Hi Mark.
Mitchell is a keeper and as such his BE going up or down doesn't really matter. If he doesn't play, and you have bench cover, I'd hold.
Wrt Wright to Zorko, even though it looks like a sideways trade based on starting price, it isn't as Zorko is likely to be in your team at seasons end, whilst Wright isn't. Douglas coming back has effectively taken away wrights SC friendly role so if you can get cash elsewhere for this trade, I'd do it.

      • markstar9 says:

        Hi Rocksta
Thanks for the advice mate. True i did cover him last week..
I'd prefer to avoid a sideways trade with the idea of moving towards premium…. but i could pocket some cash getting wright off and bringing in a performing rookie (i.e. ambrose)… plus i honestly want to see another week of zorko to see whether he can maintain his form first? Otherwise i could get him in now for wright and get rid of rohan for ambrose

        • Rocksta says:

I reckon you go Wright to Zorko and Rohan to Ambrose.
Zorko's break even is -33 and as such he should reach around min $530K before going back down again in the event that his form drops. In that event, yes it will cost you a trade, but you will be able to corrective trade him into just about anybody

  89. steve says:

i got hodge, now injured. maybe a week. do i get rid and find either another premium (ish) or trade to a mid pricer and free up cash, or go for a low break even who will continue to rise. wary still need points each round. (have got mcveigh and bartel as other main defenders). much appreciated ( a pom)

  90. Pieman1978 says:

Community I am seriously considering downgrading Cochin for Matt Thomas. I might be off my dial but it’s a big cash injection to the warchest. Thoughts?

    • Max says:

Crotch is a premo… I traded him out last year and regretted. Who else you got?

    • The benchmark says:

      Off your chops mate

      • Ronny says:

His first week was pretty good. 118 from memory. So you're going to trade him based on one crap week?

    • sputnik says:

yeah cotchin is not the greatest leader in the game.

a couple of touches after halftime and NOT 1 SINGLE TACKLE in the whole game. He is very soft and had NOTHING to do with richmond winning against Carlton. Him and Deledio need to have a good hard look at themselves. They were both PATHETIC against Carlton and had nothing to do with the win. In fact they both go missing in big games and dominate against bottom 10 teams constantly.

Luckily they play bottom 10 teams most of the year so they get better SC scores than they deserve.

      • Pieman1978 says:

Have to agree with you Sputnik. The big scores are coming from players who tackle. 0 tackles reaks of injury or lack of effort. Thomas 11 tackles less possessions 119. Cotchin more possessions same disposal efficiency 0 tackles 84 points

    • benisbill says:

I'm starting to question whether Cotchin is actually a true premium at all, or if he falls into the bracket of mids just below.

    • Rocksta says:

      Sorry but Off your Dial.
You all know he got 3 votes in the paper yea? Not a good SC game but his form is solid and as such scores will improve as his efficiency does.
Cotchin didn't have the best season last year but he still tonned up 15 times.
      Don't do it!

  91. Pieman1978 says:

He’s my only underperforming premo in the midfield. Would give me enough cash to eventually turn three rookies into premos

I’m just cruising along nicely except for one dilemma fellas…

I have one trade left. I have a non scoring player in my def who I can replace with a corrective trade. Or do I trade out enright and downgrade.

I have the 1st option in mind. Any thoughts community

    • Gilly says:

hard to say till we hear how bad Enright is, I don't like getting rid of prem's this early in the season. I am happy to put up with a rookie score for a week or two and save the trade but I am probably not going to win the 50k either.

Depending on who your non player is perhaps just sit tight, if you have cover.

      • The benchmark says:

I happy just to sit and wait. The non scoring player is fuller from bulldogs.i have 60k in th kitty and sitting in the top 1500. Not in the worst position but I’d rather be proactive then reactive.

        • Gilly says:

Great start to the year. I am a bit the same, my first reaction is to hold but don't want to miss out on opportunities

  94. Gold Rush says:

Well done, I had the C on Beams.

  95. benisbill says:

So what's the consensus on Zorko?

I've read some comments from people saying they're not sold on him, and obviously he's not going to keep scoring like this.

But with the dearth of high scoring forwards available I'm struggling to find more than a handful of others that could stop him being a top 10 forward at season's end.

    • throttlefinger says:

Looks great on paper. Still in bolter rounds. Could turn it around yet his team is in shambles. Think that in time will affect his SC performance.

In other words, he's looking very sexy driving around with his 2 Ferrari scores. But lurking out of view could be the worst case of crabs. Enough to spoil your year.

      Too dramatic?

      • benisbill says:

Not only have you put me off Zorko, you've put me off Ferrari's too.

        • throttlefinger says:

Haha. Didn't mean to put you off. Many will be jumping on Zorko. Just something to consider, my man. See if there isn't a better player for your structure. I'm considering him as well. But am very wary given his team and his past.

Who you looking to bring him in for?

          • Wattsieesq says:

Brisbane have played the Hawks and Cats and Zorko has stood up pretty well even though the lions have been flogged in both games. Give form against those two teams, I'd say his scoring will remain pretty good. Not 120 avg but probably cracking tons more often than not.

            • throttlefinger says:

Great sides but not very strong tagging teams. They're ok letting one-two person go nuts.

It's a valid point, Wattsieesq. I'm saying that I'm very doubtful both he and Swallow keep pumping out 110+ scores the whole season. Worrying part is they may go the other way.

              • Wattsieesq says:

Agree they are not great at putting a forward tag on but for GCS games up to the bye, they have a pretty easy run. With the bears, I can only see Port (with impey) and the swans putting on any real forward pressure on Zorko.

                • throttlefinger says:

Very true, Wattsiee. Very true. Mulling swapping for him. Everyone is jumping aboard. Just making sure it may be worth to zag.

          • benisbill says:

Fair points, thanks for the input. I suppose I look at where he's likely to sit in the tagging order, and at Brisbane I imagine he'd be behind Rockliff and Rich at least (similar to Barlow/Mundy being lesser tagging targets than Fyfe/Hill at Freo).

I'd be looking at swapping him in for Caddy, so another upgrade to my forward line to balance the lack of rookie options.

            • throttlefinger says:

Upgrade from Caddy would be a good move, as Zorko should last you the whole season. Caddy not showing much. Considering dumping him as well. Unfortunately the least of my problems.

              • chandanrajdb says:

                Hi TF,

I pretty much read all your comments in this forum, some of them makes sense and will be a sound logic behind that.

But on Zorko I tend to disagree with you here, reasons below,

                1. As @benisbill mentioned he is below Rockliff and Rich in the pecking order for taggers, if he keeps performing like the 1st 2 rounds he might be pushing himself UP in that order.

                2. Last year he predominantly played as a small forward and also by his own admission he wasn't 100% fit, obviously read his article somewhere during the preseason.

                3. This year he is playing a midfielder role, and looks to be free of any injury concerns and playing really well. Watched the game against cats and was absolutely brilliant.

                4. I reckon he will be playing in the lions midfield and will be averaging more than 105 for the remaining season. And I seriously think will be in the top 10 forwards by year end, and for this reason he must be considered STRONGLY.

And 1 more thing I had ZORKO in my SC team last year for nearly 17 games, frustrated me to the max.

                That's my thoughts on ZORKO……

                Cheers,
                Raj….

                • throttlefinger says:

Well done, Raj. Excellent points all.

Think I'm just pressure testing Zorko with everyone. Had him last year from the go and didn't trade him. The worst.

But the reasons you stated AND how much his value will be going up (and his ridiculous BE for the next 4-5 games), he should be very strongly considered. Which I will either upgrading from Wright or Caddy.

                    Hi TF,

Thanks for your comment above mate…

                    Caddy…..to ZORKO??, r u offloading Caddy already??

I am thinking of making 2 trades this week,

                    OPTION 1:
OUT: S Jacobs IN S Hampson

OUT: Michie IN: Tyson / M Thomas…not sure who to go for, but tending more towards Tyson…..

                    I will generate $84,800 warchest…..

S Mitchell is in my back line, the above trades purely depends on Mitchell's injury status, which i know we couldn't get it from anywhere, but if he isn't playing this week then need to consider strongly offloading him. These Calf issues are bit frustrating with respect to SC (remember Beams last year, I hope i am correct in saying Beams had a calf issue @ the start of the last season)…..

                    Option 2:
OUT: S Jacobs IN: S Hampson
                    OUT: J Caddy: IN: Zorko
will be left with $7,900 in the bank…..

Option 2: leaves me with a forward line almost set…..
                    P Dangerfield, J Roughead, D Martin, D Zorko, C Rioli, S Higgins
                    Bench: J Impey, JKH

                    Thoughts please……

                    Cheers,
                    Raj….

                    • throttlefinger says:

May offload Caddy. Wright more likely.

Gotta tell you Raj, don't know if I can green light either of those. You should keep Sauce. Had one bad game. No injury. Still single ruck. Whiffs of a rage trade. Or maybe just a way to earn some moola. Whatever the reason, you should use the trade for things that are broken not that have a blemish.

Of the above, I would try to get Tyson for Michie. And I've heard from Dools that Mitchell will be playing so you're all good there, my man.

Wouldn't trade Treloar though. You picked him, you can't dump him after 1 massive game and 1 'still good' but not awesome game. I would consider that a wasted trade. His breakeven is 33. At least wait til he's made you some money!

ummmm….why don't your trade Trelor >> Swallow DDP

  98. max von muffman says:

community… what do we feel about:

    – Rohan to S May
    – M Wright to M Thomas

    leaves me with $61k

  99. The Ranger says:

So if we're all agreed that Rohan has to go who is the best rookie option to bring in to the forward line?

  100. Did anyone see what happened to Griffin?
Was he being tagged, or just struggling?

  101. Leon says:

they are all falling. Fyfe out, barlow out, pendles under a cloud, hodge out smitch undera cloud…. ahh the joys of supercoach!

  102. brandon2416 says:

thoughts on rohan out ambrose in
and matt crouch out tyson in

    • Leon says:

would keep crouch on standby now his brother has gone down. Rohan to ambrose seems a no brainer.

  103. Reaper says:

Jock, Gents & the community, need ya advice…
My problems are (with $65.600 in bank):

    DEF: Enright & Mitchell
    MID: Matt Crouch
    FWD: Rohan, Ken-Har & Thurlow

waiting for injury update later this week then Swallow into DEF (prob for Enright)
plus considering maybe Hanley / Burgoyne / May / Hooker / Dempster for Mitchell (if need be)

or do I only use 1 trade on DEF for Swallow and consider say Matt Thomas / Tyson for Crouch
or even go Ambrose for Thurlow or Rohan and bank the extra cash…

    Thoughs Please

  104. Nate says:

    Higgo your a bloody genius

  105. matthewjsampson says:

Here's my "BANG BANG TRADE-YOUR-ARSE-OFF" options for this week.

    Rohan – Ambrose/Impey
    N. Robertson – Tyson

I've also got Enright and Mitchell. So considering a downgrade to Swallow if they're facing extended time on the sidelines.

    Thoughts?

  106. Lee Underwood says:

Crouching one eye agree Trade your ass off i followed your suggestion after the first week i have 1 rookie not playing which is Thurlow . Now i sit back and watch my team fly kick every one in my league.

  107. The Garbo says:

Stuck deciding between these trades…. THOUGHTS?

    1. OUT: Jay Kennedy Harris (Melb fwd 117k avg 25 pts) —- IN: Ambrose (ESS fwd 102k avg 63)

    2. OUT: Rohan (syd fwd 176k avg 42) —– IN: Ambrose (ESS fwd 102k avg 63)

    3. OUT: Laidler (Syd Def 163k avg 95 got dropped from the best 22 last week – only played 1 game) —- IN: Langdon (Coll Def/Mid 117k avg 83)

    4. OUT: Matthew Wright (Adel Mid/Fwd 384k avg 67.5) —— IN: Zorko (Brs Fwd/Mid 447k avg 141)

  108. Cruise says:

The carrot dangles in front of one's eyes, and thoughts escalate to trade out a non-playing lower priced player. Sydney plays before Collingwood so if Laidler is not playing you could off load him for Langdon. Would generate some moula. It's hard to predict whether these scores by Langdon and Ambrose can be sustained for any length of time of whether they are flash in the pan scores. I'd more likely trade out Rohan for Ambrose if Gary is injured, might pay to stick Laidler on the bench. I'm in a similar situation with Wright out for Zorko, but I have Caddy who is already at the cross roads. Scores could go up, you never know.

    • The Garbo says:

Im leaning the way of offloading laidler for langdon if he does'nt get named this week. At the very least Rohan and JKH are playing the game (as long as rohan pasts his fitness test). Just got to wait till tomorrow night. And I think Langdon has more of a chance to keep getting named in the 22 over Ambrose to help fill the void shaw left and is also in line for a larger price rise.

Funny enough I also have Caddy – but im happy with his progress so far. Like someone mentioned earlier for his price hes on track for an increase and still has room to smash it like may thought he would. And there's limited reliable options in the fwd at the moment so I'm going to give him another couple weeks. I would like to give wright another couple weeks as well, but missing out on getting zorko on the cheap when hes playing more of a midfield role is something I dont intend to miss out on

  109. Phippsy says:

Pavlich, keep or trade for Zorko the great? discuss….

  110. JuniorHawka says:

    Help Jock.
The only rookies I have really missed out on are Matt Thomas and Patrick Ambrose but I don't have David Swallow either.
Should I trade Gary Rohan to Patrick Ambrose and Viv Michie to Matt Thomas or Rohan to Ambrose and Daisy to Swallow???

I want o involve the community in his one.
