Show us your team v2.0 here

Supercoach Gold team picker has opened and the preseason is on like Donkey Kong!

Mick The Mad Irishman and Barron Von Crow have had a crack at their first teams of the preseason, have a gander below:

Now I cant figure out if Mick is just taking the piss here by selecting bloody Shaun Higgins in his first team or not, but I nearly fell of my chair when I saw him slotted into the forward line.

What are your thoughts about Mick and Bazza’s teams? Would love to see some teams below – lets get stuck right in

  1. Jason says:

Geez Mick – no GAJ or Pendles…. You are gonna spend an hour each week trying to decide who to put the C and VC on!!

Bock, Murphy, Beams, Thomas, Turf Toe all locks at those prices.

    What about HMac?

BTW – I don’t have SC Gold – any chance someone can rip out the prices and post?

Keep up the good work gentlemen!

  2. Will says:

rookies are to hard to judge this far out from the season so just chucked a few names there.

  8. Koach says:

    Hi Jock and Community

I'd love to hear your feedback on structure in particular. If going guns and w/rookies this year, how many premiums would you be aiming for in each line?

    Walker, McVeigh, Hanley (Langdon)
    Sucling, Kolodashnij, L McDonald (Fuller)

Ablett, Pendles, Rockliff, D Beams (Polec)
Gaff, D Thomas, J Martin, Aish (X Ellis)

    NicNat, Sandilands (Currie, M King)

Dangerfield, D Martin, Dixon (D Garlett)
    Fasolo, Bock, Kersten (Honeychurch)

  9. throttlefinger says:

Very, very rough. Rookies and wookies are wait and see. Like mids. Need work on Fwds.

    Thoughts?

    DEF: A. Walker, G. Birchall, B. Houli, R. Shaw, S. Docherty, K. Kolodjashnij (M. Scharenberg, J. Battersby)
    MID: S. Pendlebury, T. Liberatore, M. Murphy, D. Beams, L. Greenwood, D. Thomas, J. Martin, J. Aish (C. Beams, M. Crouch)
    RUC: N. Naitanui, B. Grundy (B. Longer, A. Smith)
    FWD: D. Martin, D. Zorko, P. Chapman, J. Hogan, R. Nahas, K. Harper (D. Garlett, S. Kersten)

    • lostlarrikin says:

Looks like a pretty solid team throttle,
Some interesting North selections in Greenwood, Harper and Nahas.
I reckon Greenwood might struggle for mid time with Cunnington, Bastinac, Ziebell, Wells, Gibson and Dal Santo all in the mix (and Swallow to return from injury).
Surprised that Harper is still with the club, not fantasy relevant for mine.
Nahas could be a good cow if he can stay fit

      • Max says:

Excellent points, Lost. Leaning towards Bastinac. But in truth, rethought lineup. Keep to a few key elites then fill with undervalues and choice rooks. Plus have DPP coverage. Like this structure. Just need to work out options for rooks and wookies.

        DEF A. Walker, R. Henderson, J. Grimes, A. Mullett, K. Kolodjashnij, M. Scharenberg (J. Battersby, D. Gardiner)
        MID: S. Pendlebury, J. Selwood, A. Treloar, D. Beams, B. Ellis, J. Martin, C. Beams, X. Ellis (D. Garlett, J. Hunt)
        RUC: M. Lobbe, A. Sandilands (B. Longer, M. Apeness)
        FWD: P. Dangerfield, C. Wingard, T. Mitchell, P. Chapman, J. Hogan, A. Fasolo (C. McCarthy, F. Thurlow)

        • throttlefinger says:

Signed in from mobile. "Max" is me. Again, appreciate your brain on this, Lost.

        • lostlarrikin says:

Again looks pretty solid on paper.
Question marks for me on the likes of Grimes and Mullett as to where they play and therefore output.
Good to throw this stuff out there at this time of yr as there might be some hardcore fans out there that can shed some light on where players are expected to spend most of their time.

Treloar could be inspired move with a stronger Giant ruck arsenal and Adams out of the picture. Beware the underperforming Greene and Coniglio who could steal points.

  10. William McEntee says:

DEFENCE- Mitchell, Bartel, Hanley, Suckling Scharenberg, K Kolodjashnij (Fuller, Langdon)
MIDFIELD- Ablett, Pendelbury, Griffen, Selwood, Swan, J Martin, McDonald, O’Rourke, (Morabito, Crouch)
    RUCK- Grundy, Longer (Currie, Lobb)
FOWARD- Dangerfield, Martin, Roughead, Bock,Hogan Honeychurch ( Taylor , Garlett)
    $27 000 in the bank.

  11. Dan says:

I don't have gold so I'm unsure about salary because I don't have sc gold so if someone could pop it in for me it would really help me out! but I would be looking at these blokes in my team…

    Def: S.Mitchell, P.Hanley, S.Thompson, J.Grimes, M.Suckling, L.McDonald (J.Tippett, M.Fuller)
    Mid: S.Pendlebury, J,Selwood, T.Rockliff, H.Bennell, D.Beams, D.Tyson, J.Martin, J.Aish (C.Beams, M.Crouch)
    Ruc: A.Sandilands, B.Grundy (D.Currie, T. Nankervis)
    Fwd: P.Dangerfield, D.Martin, L.Franklin, T.Walker, J. Hogan, D.Garlett (L.Taylor, M.Honeychurch)

    • William McEntee says:

Sorry I put it in it doesn't work your $60 000 short. I suggest not getting Tex Walker in straight away because Adelaide aren't going to rush him back.

      • Dan says:

Thanks mate, you're an absolute gem… Out of interest is Mitch Clark 60k less than Walker? If so he'd probably replace Walker… Boyd is around abouts aswell

  12. Shawnied says:

    Defenders
Jarrad McVeigh, Sam Mitchell, Pearce Hanley, Matt Suckling,
Rhyce Shaw, Sam Docherty, (Alex Johnson, Matthew Fuller)

    Midfielders
Jack Steven, Tom Liberatore, Jimmy Bartel, Dayne Beams,
Dale Thomas, Jack Martin, Dom Tyson, James Aish
    (Luke McDonald, Dayle Garlett)

    Rucks
    Hamish McIntosh, Aaron Sandilands
    (Michael Apeness, Rory Lobb)

    Forwards
Patrick Dangerfield, Nick Riewoldt, Chad Wingard,
Stewart Crameri, Nathan Bock, Daniel Menzel,
    (Shane Kersten, Spencer White)

    • Max says:

Defence is very strong, but alex johnson on the pine takes up too much cash.. probably trade him or docherty out and bring in a player less than 150k.
Mifield lacks uber premium like pendlebury selwood ablett… it is a must that you start with atleast one of those 3…
The rucks will be hard next year, just keeping in mind the interchange limits, ruckman like mcintosh and grundy may get subbed off with j.white or n.vardy taking over the duties. Mind you McIntosh may not be subbed of so therefore is a brilliant pick!
Need to ask these questions in your forward line, will wingard back up his stellar year? Will crameri, bock and menzel stay fit? If both these questions are answered yes it is a very good forward line and a solid team! Maybe look into the mids more

  13. James says:

    Backs: Bartel, J. Mcveigh, S Mitchell, M Suckling, M. Scharenberg, J. Tippett, K. Aylett, T. Cutler

Mids: Ablett, Pendles, Barlow, Murphy, Beams, Thomas, Ellis, Taylor, Honeychurch, M. Crouch.

Rucks: Goldstein, Sandilands, B. brown, Currie.

Forwards: Dangerfield, Dusty Martin, Parker, Tex Walker, Dayle garlett, Kersten, Impey, Kennedy-Harris

    Thoughts would be appreciated

    • lostlarrikin says:

Hey James, Tex won't see game time early on.
I would try and find room for J Martin in middle.
I had forgotten about Daisy, definite money to be made there

  14. fred says:

Is 220k to much for a rookie like Jack Martin?

  15. lostlarrikin says:

Def – Bartel, McVeigh, Mitchell, Pearce, Suckling, Laidler (Thompson L, Tippett J)

Mid – Ablett, Fyfe, Libba, Dal Santo, Beams, Caddy, Martin (Crouch M, Hartung)

Ruc – Mumford, Longer (Apeness, Nankervis)

Fwd – Danger, Gunston, Dixon, Rohan, Wearden, Garlett D (Impey, Honeychurch)

Liking Laidler to make some coin and Caddy to get a fair run with no Corey and Chappy.

    • jimbotraralgon says:

laidler is a very interesting proposition….not yet for me but it wont take much to convince

    • throttlefinger says:

Strong start, Lostlarrikin. Like the Mummy pick, although Longer could be risky ar R2. Sandi could be a better pick…and if he goes down with a strained taint, Apeness and Longer can back up. Fwds might be a tad light and risky. But Rohan and Dixon could be a surprise. Caddy and Chappy are ones I keep going back and forth with, yet in my fwd line not mids. Maybe use X. Ellis or C. Beams or a rook that's likely to get time (Aish) so you can use Caddy/Chappy to strengthen the forward line for mine.

      • lostlarrikin says:

Yeah line ball between Longer and Grundy for me. Cant bring myself to take the risk on 211. Price is great but not sure how much game time he will see with Clarke, Griffin, Hannath and Apeness all on the roster. reckon he might be used lightly in 1st half of season.
Ellis and Beams will be watch and see as both returning from injury, tho will be hard to pass up if they line up in rnd 1.
Caddy up fwd sounds like a good move and might try and squeeze in Nahas too per ur 1st version.

  16. jimbotraralgon says:

    hey guys.

having problems with my supercoach gold access…its killing me not being able to put my side in.

Can someone help us out with a few prices?

    Jared Polec
    Clay Beams
    Jackson Paine
    Luke McDonald
    Liam McBeam
    Langdon

Giddity giddity…great to be able to get stuck back into it

  17. @RyanRhino14 says:

    Def: J.McVeigh, P.Hanley, R.Henderson, M.Suckling, K.Kolodjashnij, M.Scharenberg (J.Laidler, M.Fuller)
    Mid: J.Selwood, T.Rockliff, S.Selwood, D.Beams, A.Treloar, D.Thomas, J.Martin, D.Tyson (J.Aish, V.Michie)
    Ruc: B.McEvoy, A.Sandilands (M.Apeness, D.Currie)
    Fwd: P.Dangerfield, M.Walters, D.Zorko, M.Clark, P.Karnezis, N.Bock (S.Kersten, D.Garlett)
    $44,900 left

  18. fred says:

Would you guys consider Xavier Ellis at all? at 158k surely must be worth a look

  19. Dan says:

    Hi community,

Is Billy Longer a good pick or burn man?

    • jockreynolds says:

Reasonable pick up for mine – will clearly get solid gametime as R1 and/or R2 waxing with Hickey

      • jimbotraralgon says:

is he worth the coin at R3?

        • throttlefinger says:

That's the question I've been struggling with, Jimbo. I have Lobbe as R1, Sandiballs R2 and Longer as R3. Thinking he could be nice backup if Sandi goes down. Hope is the value of at least of 2 of those will go up so I can keep one and upgrade the other (shooting for Minson).

          • jimbotraralgon says:

I'm thinking yes at this stage….mainly due to the reduction in the ruck forward swingers this year. For me, R3 will need to be getting a game every week

  20. Benno says:

    J.McVeigh, S.Mitchell, P.Hanley, K.Simpson, M.Suckling, L.McDonald
    [M.Fuller, J.Kolodjashnij]

    S.Pendlebury, J.Selwood, J.Watson, T.Cotchin, D.Beams, D.Thomas, J.Martin, D.Tyson
    [J.O'Rourke, L.Dunstan]

    N.Naitanui, A.Sandilands
    [T.Nankervis, B.Brown]

    P.Dangerfield, D.Martin, M.Clarke, S.White, S.Kersten, L.Taylor
    [M.Honeychurch, D.Gartlett]

    $6K

    Few notes:
-Rookies not based on much, just names I've heard thrown around
-Forward lines very weak, no names are really standing out to me at the moment, but would like another premo/mid pricer
-Would possibly like to get caddy in somehow
-Possibly like to get Grundy in for Sandi
-Unsure if Martin and Tyson are worth the $220K each
    -No GAJ at this stage

    Feedback would be great, cheers

    • Richard says:

Parker is your man in the forward line. Look at his numbers last year. All he lacked was consistency. Another pre season under his belt. He is going to be this years wingard

  21. jimbotraralgon says:

    hey fellas.

off the bat I'll admit that I am still $67k over budget….looking at nicnat to grundy at this stage…
also thinking maybe no gaz and going with joelwood or barlow (who could join the elite)

    but still early thoughts…

d/ bartel, McVeigh, Mitchel, suckling, bock, McDonald, (scharenbery, Langdon)
m/ gaz, pendles, Watson, d beams, daisy, c beams, j polec,, martin, (morabito, aish)
    r/ nicnat, sandi (longer, Mcbeam)
f/ Buddy, wingard, Dangerfield, paine, fasolo, kersten (rohan, Garlett)

great time of the year….cricket on the tv…couple of beers……takeaway fish and chips…..couple of potato cakes….predicting the supercoach future…..love it.

  22. jimbotraralgon says:

    just saying…. nic nat warning…

and interesting comments on the X man..

    http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/new-west-co

  23. Hugh G says:

    $162,700 left.

    Backs:

    J.McVeigh S.Mitchell T.McKenzie

    J.Grimes M.Suckling M.Scharenberg

    (L. McDonald D. Gardiner)

    Mids:

    G.Ablett M.Barlow M.Murphy D.Beams

    D.Thomas J.Martin J.Aish C.Beams

    (J.Polec J.O’Rourke)

    Rucks:

    B.Grundy A.Sandilands

    Fwds:

    P.Dangerfield J.Gunston M.Pavlich

    M.Clark P.Karnezis T.Boyd

    (N.Bock J.Paine)

Obviously rookies will change at some stages, but I think I am happy with the core of the team. Sandilands I’m not convinced with, but his name on paper just looks better lol.

    • Max says:

      Hey Hugh,

I think that you should choose 1 of Scharenburg and McDonald and downgrade one to a rookie of less than 130 which frees up 60k and the same with Polec in the midfield freeing up another 30-40. Using this extra cash to strengthen your fwd line!

      Some suggestions to look at
      M.Fuller, J.Tippet, T.Cutler down back
      M.Crouch, J.O'Rourke, C.Giles and P.Cripps in the mid field

      • Hugh G says:

Hey Max, really appreciate the input. I am very keen to get O’Rourke into the team and I am hoping he has a cracker pre-season. In regards to Scharenberg Vs McDonald, I would be more inclined to keep McDonald (huge Kangas fan, 2014 is gonna be a cracker for us I feel)

        • Max says:

That's fair enough, I'm a Collingwood fan and I honestly don't see Scharenberg cracking our 22 with the return of toovey and co… So maybe just play around and get those lower price rookies on your bench and find the premiums you like. I really like your team though and Jack Grimes in your defence is a cracker!

  24. Max says:

My thoughts on this year Jock… all feel free to agree and disagree as a community its important for all opinionsto be heard!

    – Maybe not a year to starr with ablett and pendlebury… choose 1 and go with selwood and some of the cheaper options.
    – Dangerfield should be owned by everyone no questions??
    – ruckmen who will play games without getting the vest will be important. My thinking is look at teams with players like j.white and n.vardy which make mcintosh and grundy less valid picks perhaps.
    – jack martin another must have!
    – brisbane, north melbourne and melbourne are significant supercoach teams
-breakout contendors in the younger teams between 500-550k eg. Shuey, bennel, redden and treloar are all
players we could expect to average 105*
    – with gws’ easy run and round 8 bye round make them significant because players such as treloar, sheils, cameron couls make easy cash to get abletts, pendleburys and barlows that we dont have.

  25. Adrian says:

What position is Polek? Is he DP eligible?

  26. Hien says:

    A.Walker, S.Mitchell, P.Hanley, M.Suckling, K.Kolodjashnij, M.Scharenberg (D.Gardiner, M.Fuller)

    G.Ablett, S.Pendlebury, J.Selwood, M.Murphy, D.Beams, D.Thomas, J. Martin, J.Aish (L.McDonald, D.Garlett)

    B.Grundy, A.Sandilands (M.Apeness, D.Currie)

    P.Dangerfield, C.Wingard, J.Roughead, J.Billings, N.Bock, L.Taylor (M.Honeychurch, A.Spina)

    What do you guys think?

  27. Max says:

Could someone please lend me the prices of

    Luke Hodge

    Corey Enright

    Harry Taylor

    Kade Simpson

    Tom Langdon

    Darcy Gardiner

    Cheers

  28. Michael says:

    Hi guys & gals,

Can't believe we're back into it – seems a bit wrong with the cricket on, but geez I've missed it!

First crack at my team, a bit more balls required this year methinks with the rookies as eksy as they are:

DEF: Bartel (DEF/MID), S Mitchell (DEF/MID), Hanley (DEF/MID), Suckling, K Kolodjashnij, Scharenberg, Laidler, Fuller
MID: Pendles, Cotchin, Wingard (MID/FWD), Beams, M Grigg, Daisy, J Martin, Aish, McDonald (MID/DEF), O'Rourke
RUC: Grundy, Sandy, Longer, B Brown (RUC/FWD)
    FWD: Danger (FWD/MID), Dusty (FWD/MID), Dixon (FWD/RUC), Daniher, T Menzel, D Menzel, Kersten, D Garlett (FWD/MID)

Still a little unsure about Dan Menzel, if he has no injury concerns then all good, but that's a big if.
Also feel I'm 1 premo short in MIDS.
Early days though so many more permutations to go through!

  29. Robbo says:

    G'day Mr Reynolds & Co,

What are your thoughts on D Wells this year? Will Dal Santo take much attention away from him? The Roos are tipped to be big improvers this year and I think Wells can sometimes be a forgotten man.

Would be good to hear the thoughts of the community.

    All the best this year!

  30. bazza says:

Guys how do I get my screenshot here just doesn't want to paste

  31. joel says:

Does anyone know what these players cost?

    Beau Waters

    Sloane

    Jack Redden

    Michael Barlow

    Harley Bennell

    A.Swallow

    Dal Santo

    Ziebell

    Boak

    Kieran Jack

    Wouls be much apreciated

    • Hey Joel, prices are as follows

      Beau Waters – $402,200
      Sloane – $577,100
      Redden – $528,400
      Barlow – $593,600
      Bennell – $520,700
      A. Swallow – $546,400
      Dal Santo – $525,700
      Ziebell – $513,600
      Boak – $575,100
      K. Jack – $589,400

  32. Adrian says:

I'm wondering your thoughts on Rory Sloane please Jock as I was thinking he might be a bit of POD for the mids. What price?

  33. Max says:

First Go for me this year im pretty happy with what i could fit in… as we know rookies not 100% right now. I practised the bye round system so when it comes to real season i know what im doing!

Def: Mitchell, Hanley, McKenzie, Grimes, Suckling, A.Johnson (D.Gardiner, M.Fuller)

Mid: Pendlebury, Rockliff, Fyfe, Beams, Thomas, J.Martin, Tyson, Aish (O’Rourke, Honeychurch)

    Ruc: Naitnui, Sandilands (Currie, Nankervis)

Fwd: Dangerfield, Martin, Rioli, M.Clark, L.Taylor, Kersten (D.Garlett, Spina)

    Not sure on either

    Mitchel and McVeigh

    A.Johnson and R.Shaw

    Naitanui and Grundy /other premium

I have 10 players for each bye round

    And $131,900 in the bank

    • Hi Max,

Like the Rockliff pick in the MIDS, reckon that's a solid choice if you can't go Ablett. Fyfe too is another one i'm gung-ho about for next year.

McVeigh or Mitchell is a tough one. May have to consider that this is the 1st out of 9 years McVeigh has cracked the 100 average, whereas Mitchell has 1 ouf of 9 years where he hasn't averaged 100 points or more.

      • Max says:

Cheers BVC or Baz? What do you preffer?

I like Rockliff because he averaged around like 120pts in his last 8 games where he played predominately midfield. As for Fyfe he had a low disposal efficiency so I think he can lift that which will lift his average points by around 8/9 Pts..

I will try and get Ablett in for Thomas in rd 9 when daisy has his bye…

        Should I go r.shaw or a.johnson?

        • Either Baz of BVC is fine by me!

Yep, agree on both points on Rockliff and Fyfe. If Fyfe can get his DE% up from 63% to 69-70%, he'll be dangerous and should crack the 110 point barrier.

Tough one with Shaw and Johnson, my guts usually tell me to go with the younger player who has more scope for improvement, unlike Shaw, who's averaged in the 70's since 2010. I'm not 100% sure of where they are on their returns though, I read they're both on running programs during the Swans pre-season training, but i'm unsure if they'll be available for the start of the year.

          • Max says:

Thanks, I didn't know that. What are there injuries? Any suggestions that I can put on my watch list if they don't play?

            • Both suffered ACL tears, but both underwent the LARS procedure, so they should be good to go for Rd 1 as that has a quicker turnaround time than a standard knee reconstruction.

  34. Samsy says:

Hey Guys! Loving the rookie changes, makes the game much more interesting. First go at my team

Def – Sam Mitchell [HAW], David Swallow [GCS], Jack Watts [MEL], Matt Suckling [HAW], Kade Kolodjashnij [GCS], Matthew Scharenberg [COL], (Luke McDonald [NTH], Tom Cutler [BRL])

    Midfielders
Gary Ablett [GCS], Scott Pendlebury [COL], Joel Selwood [GEE], Marc Murphy [CAR], Dayne Beams [COL], Dale Thomas [CAR], Jack Martin [GCS], Claye Beams [BRL] (James Aish [BRL], Viv Michie [MEL])

    Rucks
Nic Naitanui [WCE], Aaron Sandilands [FRE] (Daniel Currie [NTH], Max King [MEL])

    Forwards
Patrick Dangerfield [ADE], Lance Franklin [SYD], Matthew Pavlich [FRE], Shaun Higgins [WBD], Nathan Bock [GCS], Gary Rohan [SYD], (Daniel Menzel [GEE], Dayle Garlett [HAW])

    Cash – $100

Have to assess players coming off injuries during pre season, I like sandliands even if he plays 8 games, could be a good 'pinch hitter' to upgrade to another premium ruck.

    • Hi Samsy,

Nice looking starting team, even with the Burnman Higgins included!

I've seen a few with the same ideas on Sandilands. Hope he can get through the first 6-8 games of the year, if he can manage that, even if he does go down with an LTI he'd have made enough cash for you to be able to sideways trade him to another quality ruckman.

      • Samsy says:

The burnman higgins is very tempting with the price, only reason im considering him at this stage. also the increase in rookie prices make him less of a risk In my opinion

        • [email protected] says:

Very nice defence there Samsy, Swallow and Watts are a couple of nice potential breakout players but personally I would keep Swallow and get either McVeigh, Bartel, Hanley or Ricky Henderson for Jack Watts. Perfect midfield and on field rucks look fine, although you may need to change Max King or Currie for Nankervis probably. Not a big fan of the forward line but you could do a few tweaks with the midpricers, maybe change Matty Pavlich, Higgins and Menzel and I think it'll look great. Hope this helps a lot, great team mate. Thank you

Just wondering About having 150k+ players on your bench is too much this year…? I'm thinking those lower priced rookies say 125-100k on your bench is better than having those guys at 160-220?

    G'day fellas

Hoping for some feedback from attempt one this season!

Don't know too much about all the rookies yet so have gone with ones I think have a chance at round one at this stage. Actually quite enjoying the rookie premiums! Will separate the good SC'ers from the average Joes.

Anyway thoughts on my average Joe team would be appreciated!

      Nice work Beached,

I am very happy with the team at the moment, I have Ben Brown and Michael Apeness who will rotate with DPP which is very handy aswell as Dayle Garlett in the midfield and Luke McDonald who will also use their DPP. My defence is steady enough IMO, my midfield will hold and I love the ruck. In the forward I've tried to get more mids in their instead of Roughead and KPF's. Any thoughts or feedback appreciated. Gary Ablett is to hard to go down in price because of his consistant scores so it'll be to hard when you will regret and want him in the season.

          • Max says:

Ablett, isn't worth his 130 price tag at the start of this year… We will see H.Bennell, D.Swallow start to hit the stats sheet and more midfield time which will see the little master more forward time which is why I see him as more value later in the season when players like swallow, Bennell, O'Meara, Prestia start getting rested a little more because Gold Coast are a finals threat. This is when we will see gaz bring out his premium scores of 150+.

I'm thinking 115 ave first 10 rounds then 125+ in the second half of the year…
Risky but I'm gonna take it

Hey guys, could I please have a couple more opinions on who to get out of Tom Mitchell and Lance Franklin. Cheers!

    • Slick Swans says:

As a swans fan i would say buddy for sure !!! tommy boy is still on a restricted training schedule atm, expect buddy to be the vocal point of sydneys attack, guaranteed scores over 100. Lock him in for round one and watch the fireworks !!

    • Max says:

if your looking for someone in that buy round then Dayne Zorko is also an option. 100 in his first year 2nd years blues held him at 85 this year but could see him returning to his 100?

out of those 2 though franklin is worth the 20k more but not sold on him… Will they go to tippet, reid and him evenly? what about goodes? Saying all this will average 90+ are there better options though?

    • LA5 says:

If I have to decide between the two I would pick Franklin because he steps up in the big games and Tom Mitchell still taking a while to be full strength and possibility of second-year blues.

      I hope my advice helps.

      • SCMania says:

Yeah guys, thanks a lot. My plan was to get more midfielders in there but I suppose Franklin is going to average 100+ most likely. Cheers

      Hey Mitch
Good looking side, i think u are spending too much on your rookie selections. maybe trade one of the big 3 in the back line for mature ager M Fuller who should see plenty of game time.

I'd also invest in another super premium in the midfield (Gaz, Selwood, swan)

    • Wombats says:

Billings has already broken down, maybe look at Caddy. need another definite starter in def and a couple in mid. maybe swap one of your premiums for swallow and upgrade a rookie to a thurlow or watson. don't risk sandi in ruck unless you have Dixon or another ruck/fwd to cover for him when he breaks. Ben lennon will be the Nahas replacement at tiges and a much better kick than most. He will be at the feet of Riewaldt, Hampson, Vickery and is a bargain at $162k

    • Mitch says:

You should swap longer for sandilands

    • Wombats says:

Dixon is still in the rehab group

      • Wombats says:

That Dixon bloke has a healthy dose of wombat in him (can't knock him over, incredible agility for his shape, and blistering speed when it counts) but I reckon they might have stuffed him up by letting him play last year after the original injury. He's a big heavy bloke and ankles and feet have real small bones. Big fellas take a very long time to recover from feet and ankle injuries. If you doubt me just ask Robbie Warnock, and Sandi.

  69. which two would you pick out of rockliff, selwood, s.johnson, watson

    • James says:

Out of those four, I'd pick Selwood and Watson. Not convinced that either Rockliff or Stevie J are worthwhile at their starting prices without FWD eligibility.

      • Wombats says:

Selwood always starts slow, SJ is prone to missing a few of the first 10 and watson could yet be rubbed out by asada. Rockliff is looking good for a huge though.

Probably most concerned about the number of rookie defenders, as well as position M4 – This spot has been jumping back and forth between Dylan Shiel, Tom Mitchell and Dayne Zorko (depending on whether I need the additional cap space afforded by Shiel). Currently have approx $100K in the kitty.

    • i would get rid of savage and get another midfield rookie maybe Jonathan O'Rourke at $123,900

      • SCMania says:

        Great backline. – 8.5

With the midfield you could bring in Ablett, get rid of Savage for rookie, also not a big fan of Caddy. – 7

        Ruck is fine. – 8

Forward needs changes, maybe get out Chappy and Rioli, maybe even Kersten and look at a couple of others, maybe Honeychurch. – 6.5

    • James says:

Cheers for the feedback. I've ditched Savage for Shiel and put Honeychurch on the bench in place of Aish. I've also beefed up the backline a touch, swapping KK for Suckling (knowing full well that I can swap this back again to free up some funds if KK looks likely enough for a round 1 start).
Going to stick with Caddy, Rioli and Chappy for the moment. Reckon Caddy's every chance to step it up this year, and Rioli and Chappy should be able to score well above their starting prices if fit. If not fit, plenty of other players at similar prices that can be traded in.

    • Wombats says:

I'm not trying to psych you but, I reckon mcviegh is way overpriced; one 100+ season does not make a premium player I reckon he might burn a few coaches, look at his history he's been playing for 60 years and only gone 100+ for the season once! Don't replace him with Walker cos someone will work out that if you hit him he goes missing. Sandi? Really? Dixon and mitchell will be in the rehab groups until late January. if they play first game I reckon their time will be limited and no guarantee Dixon will comeback before week 3 or 4 so maybe rethink Sandi. I reckon Sylvia might be more of a chance than chappy (unless asada rub out bombers) or kamikaze kid who Mick seems to love. I like your rookie selections and I hope laidler gets a chance

    What do you think?

    • Luke says:

      Hey Noah

Nice looking team, very risky ruck. both have horrible injury history. Risk vs reward i guess

Solid midfield, ballsy move with no ablett to start. im too scared to do it myself after trying it last year and getting burnt big time

Rookies obviously dependent on round 1 selection

Solid forward line (if tex plays round 1) but im not sure he will be the dominant tex for the first half of the year after being out for so long. other then that solid side

  72. SCMania says:

    • Pieman says:

Can’t see Scharenberg playing early in the season. He is still doing rehab. And he hasn’t played or trained for quite some time. There are many players ahead oh him at the moment. He’s a long term prospect & they won’t run risks with him.

    • jimbotraralgon says:

      gee nice looking side SCmania.

don't stress the rookies as yet, preseason will tell us about s-berg and the like.

      like swallow up back……wait, what?

David Swallow is a good option but personally I felt I couldn't risk him with suckling….

      great midfield and forward line.

don't like big boy up there……

      • SCMania says:

Thanks again, I think I'll keep Swallow and Suckling, McEvoy I'll look more into, who would you replace for him?

    • Luke says:

      Nice team SCM

I like Liberatore as a POD, i do think he is a risk however. Isn't a proven premium for more then 2 seasons, will get alot more attention this year.

Mcevoy a solid selection aswell, durable ruckman and change of team may help him breakout as top 3 ruck

Wingard same reasons as the LIBBA, maybe swap hogan for s kersten bank extra 100k (if makes best 22 which ive heard is very likely with j pods gone)

    • WaddaDouche says:

      Whoops, Honeychurch twice.

      • Dools says:

        G’day WaddaDouche;
I think you have sacfrified way too much with your :
        1. Rucs Longer is no guarentee start up and he will most likely share the role with Hickey thus reducing his scoring capacity
(Read Micks B. McEvoy Turncoats article) you have no coverage if either R1 or R2 go down…methinks
        2. H. Shaw IMHO will need to play like never B4 to warrent the coin as he is with a new team and required to learn their structures and style (He is a wait and see not a walk up to your team…
        3. I like a lot your top 3 Fwds but then the money you spent on the mids has limited you severly. Markworth, Daniel $123900 (STK)
McBean, Liam $123900 (RIC)Impey, Jarman $117300 (PTA) are not walk up starters. Have a look at Lennon and maybe another couple of wookies to replace them with or maybe X. Ellis WCE if fit
If you drop say Stevie J and get say a Dale Thomas type you have 300k extra in the kick to spend on some adjustments
I hope this is constuctive and I hope I ‘mnot sounding condesending. Good luck mate

    • Pieman says:

Some interesting POD wadda. I think Heath shaw is a watch only for me. He will get plenty of attention. Also your forward line is a bit light on. Otherwise not too bad. Also Morabito is nicely priced but I can’t see him playing early. Good luck

    • Luke says:

      Hey Wadda

Risky Ruck department, maybe change longer for a premium durable ruck

I agree with Dools with stevie J. he is no doubt a great player but misses too many games with stupidity. Maybe beamsy around same price a murphy if looking for another replacement. I do like zaharakis who ive been trying to fit into my team but cant quiet fit him. do think he is ready to explode

I'd look at L Taylor and S Kersten as rookies for the forward line.

Other then that good looking side IMO

  75. jock, what are your thoughts on longer as a on field ruckmen for supercoach 2014

    • Boydo says:

I know I’m no jock Reynolds but I wouldn’t have Longer as my starting ruck especially if you have sandilands as the other ruck. IMO I would go Minson (some prefer Goldy) and Sandilands.

  76. Boydo says:

Def: Bartell, McVeigh, Mitchell, Swallow, Suckling, Buntine, emg McDonald, Pearce
Mid: Ablett, Pendles, J Selwood, D Beams, Thomas, J Martin, Aish, emg C Beams, Polec
Ruck: Minson, Sandilands emg Currie Derickx
Fwd: Dangerfield, Walker (if fit), Boyd, Hogan, Bock, Rohan emg Gartlett, Taylor

Fwd rookies based on job security, if Fisolo Billings Lennon Higgins etc are fit and/or selected Boyd & Hogan may go??

Setup has backline and ruck virtually complete with mids and forward line to require upgrades.

    Thoughts??

    • Luke says:

      Hey Boydo

I'd probably try and get another 2 premiums in the forward and replace tex. dont think he will be the tex of old if he plays round 1 and will take time to get back into sync with afl footy.

I like Dusty, had a good year last year and shoud improve further with cotchin and deledio getting #1 taggers. Maybe Buddy aswell, the bloods culture should crack down on buddy and help him return to 2012 form.

    • Wombats says:

I think you're missing a bit in defence. last year for McViegh was 'going out with a bang' when everybody else had a premiership hangover. Expect Jude Bolton type scores this year or at best his previous mid 80's. I'm not sure that Henderson will be left to roam wherever he wants next year either and basketballers don't usually respond well to tags (Pendles excused). Most of your rookies will be subs at best and suckling is very questionable. Apart from that it looks great in defense.

      • Zac says:

I'm thinking maybe Sam Mitchell to replace McVeigh. I might take a gamble on Henderson and Mitchell, after all that's what this great game of ours is about! Who might you suggest as far as rookies are concerned for some solid playing time?

  79. SCMania says:

Just another go at a team!

    DEF: J. McVeigh P. Hanley D. Swallow M. Suckling K. Koladjashnij L. McDonald ( M. Scharenberg M. Fuller )

    MID: G. Ablett S. Pendlebury J. Selwood M. Murphy D. Beams J. Martin D. Tyson J. Aish ( D. Gartlett J. O'Rourke )

    RUC: N. Naitanui A. Sandilands ( T. Nankervis D. Currie )

    FWD: P. Dangerfield D. Martin L. Franklin J. Hogan J. Billings N. Bock ( L. Taylor S. Kersten )

    21k left.

With my original team I didn't think that many of those rookies would play much. I just hope my forwards do. What do you think? Thanks.

    • Zac says:

Teams looking pretty solid SCMania! Nic Nat may be a risk at 500 odd whatever he's going for, maybe consider Grundy from the Pies, he's at the top of the pecking order at Collingwood for the big man spot and that'll put around 150k in the bank to maybe upgrade buddy to wingard. I may be wrong but I can't see Buddy having a massive year this year with the swans. New playing style and he has to compete with Tippett for the goal scoring – which is the issue with KPF's; they rely on goal kicking to pull bigger scores. Maybe Chad Wingard would be a good upgrade after his breakout last year.

    • Zac says:

Yeah Lobbe would definitely work, however you might be able to fit Mumford in if you are keen on him, then there's also Mike Pyke who had a solid year last year sharing the ruck/ fwd role with Shane Mumford, do he might become a more important player for the Swans this year with Mummy and Jesse White gone. What do you reckon?

  80. Zac says:

If you're feeling like a risk and/ or P.O.D, Hamish McIntosh (when fit) can be a great player both ruck and forward. That'll free up a good 150k to upgrade elsewhere. You'd need sizeable gonads to rely on his fitness though.

You're a farming genius Mick and I'll sing Stand by Your Man at your funeral if we don't make the GF."

  84. SCMania says:

Hey guys, at the moment, which 2 are the best options, O'Rourke, C. Beams, Aish? Thanks.

  85. Dools says:

    G'day SCMania
Of the 3 I think C. Beams is the most likely starter and at 187K for a Mid that will get games in 2014 season has to be up and about there. Given the mass exedus of players at the end of last season.

Aish is an intresting one mate. At 184 cms and only 74 Kgs I think he would be a long shot for later in the season. I reckon he will have to bulk up IOT play
O'Rourke whilst the cheapest of the 3 is no way a walk up starter for GWS in their top 22.
I also posted this in Kade Simpson Article sorry

  87. SCMania says:

    Alex Fasolo or Gary Rohan?

    • Dools says:

      G’day SCMania
To-day I’m thinking G. Rohan super cheap and if fit definatly top 22 – 23 for the Swans. Very attractive price for a very good player
Plus the round 10 bye makes him even more attractive but then the draw has to be considered will he play GWS rd 1 (I Think so) but round 8 Sydney take on the dockers at the SCG (Small Ground favouring the dockers methinks for their lock down style)
Anywho that’s my 2 cents worth mate

      • SCMania says:

Thanks Dools, it's really hard to pick the midpricers for the forward line this year.

        • Dools says:

          Totally Agree mate
I think we have to look at dependables all in the 450K (Goodes,Frnklin,RioliL.Parker etc etc) mark which then limits all the other positions $ wise
Players like chappy, Gray ,and to a lesser extent Caddy, Boyd or maybe even a Varcoe depending on form in Pre season.
I think Lennon is a big walk up starter chance. I’m also looking at young Garlett (DPP) but maybe anoutside chance to play for hawks ATM. I’m excited by Bocks price but is he ready to go???I just don’t know yet
So I keep doing homework to make it as tight as possible $ wise but for players I know will play early in the season.
That’s my current line of thinking anywho.

          • SCMania says:

Yeah, I had super high hopes for Lennon before I looked at others teams, then I thought maybe not but yeah, he is solid.

            • @joehuddler says:

Rohan for me mate. That prelim over at Patersons last year was telling. Freo had it in the bag, but towards the end there was a sniff of a comeback. A Gary Rohan inspired comeback. I think the kids a star and with the Swans being my flag favourites this year – I think theres lots of value in their group. Rohan will be locked in my team I reckon. F6 or F7 to start.

  88. @joehuddler says:

Exploiting the R4 Loophole in 2014? Want a cheap as chips R4 thats not going to make it onto the ground, but who will play late in the round and hopefully let you maximise your onfield ruck scores (not a bad option this year if you are thinking of trying 3 of say: Sandilands, McIntosh, Hickey, Longer, Grundy; instead of 2 Guns/1 Rookie).

So, introducing the 4 cheapest Rucks in the comp (all $102,400): Jason Holmes (STK), Max King (MEL), Patrick Mitchell (SYD), and Archie Smith (BRI). Not going to see a lot of time on ground in 2014, this lot. Perfect.

My lunch break of rudimentary research was to find out who plays the latest across the year. I've looked initially at who plays on 1) the 'Last day of the Round OR Last 3 games of the Round' and 2) The very last game of the round (we don't know about Rd 23 yet, but no matter). So without further ado….

    • @joehuddler says:

Patrick Mitchell: Probably the worst option of the 4. 1) Sydney play 'Last day of the Round OR Last 3 games of the Round' only 4 times through the year and 2) Not one single solitary time do they play the last game of the round. Looks like you'll have to get a game to get in a Supercoach team this year Paddy.

      • @joehuddler says:

Archie Smith: Another no go. 1) Archies Lions play 'Last day of the Round OR Last 3 games of the Round' a mediocre 7 times during the season and 2) Again, not once do the play last game of the round. Och naw Archie.

  89. @joehuddler says:

Jason Holmes: Jocks beloved Sainter is an option, but not the best one. 1) St Kilda play 'Last day of the Round OR Last 3 games of the Round' on 9 occasions which isn't bad at all, and 2) They back that up with playing the very last game of the round a whopping 3 times across 22 rounds. He's an option, but not a SureLock, Holmes (sorry).

  90. @joehuddler says:

Max King: Aside from having the strongest name ever 1) Big Maximum's Demons pip the Saints by playing 'Last day of the Round OR Last 3 games of the Round' on a mammoth 11 occasions 2) and back this up by also playing 3 times in the very final game of the round.

Therefore, my wasted lunch break has anointed Maximum "Max King" King as the Max King of R4 Loophole options for 2014.

  91. @joehuddler says:

    Woohoo! Max King! Yeah!

    • SCMania says:

So who else would you be likely considering as R3?

    • @joehuddler says:

No expert but at the minute, I've Pyke and Jacobs 1 and 2 (maybe Lobbe). Lone rucks score well and i'm looking for value in every spot this year. With Mummy gone, Pyke could leap up. Jacobs too, with Adelaides soft draw. Ive looked at Sandi as R3, but $300k+ is a lot. Better value R3 opportunities normally present themselves (Nicholls last year), but to start i'll go with Currie or Derickx at R3 i reckon. Not much apparent value around that price though at the minute, is there?

  92. Juzzo says:

What do you think of this team?

Walker, McVeigh, Hanley, Suckling, Laidler, L. Thompson, (Cutler, Fuller)
Ablett, Pendles, Jack, Murphy, D Beams, Martin, Michie, O'Rourke (Garlett, Hunt)
    Kreuzer, Lobbe (Nankervis, King)
Danger, Wingard, Franklin, Caddy, Hogan, Lennon (Kersten, L. Taylor)

    $3,300 left

    • @joehuddler says:

Hi mate. Wouldn't it be great f Caddy broke out seriously as a $325k forward. Ooft. Laidler is a really interesting one isn't he? Rampe did enough to cement a spot last year I reckon, and although Everitt left for Carlton, Al Johnson wants a spot back. Tough for Laidler to sustain a start I reckon, but compared to similarly priced back men he has a real chance at a regular game an even though he has a low ceiling, its probably twice what his $160k base is, making him a genuine cash cow – if he plays. Love the boldness of the Kreuzer/Lobbe ruck mate. Good luck.

  93. Boydo says:

Was happy with my pre NAB cup team how ever had walker. Need some help with a quick pole. Choose one of the following Matera Caddy Murdoch Higgins (I know but could be value?) and Hunter or someone else in fed line 325k or less? Thoughts guys?

Have Danger Martin ——— M Clarke Hogan Kersten Gartlett and Taylor (Honeychurch will replace one of rookies if he is picked round 1.

    • @joehuddler says:

Sorry, im replying to everyone these days. On the drink cos its the weekend. Plus i'm excited. Just plain excited.

Look, Chappy and Corey have left the Cats. Thats two big gaps in a gun midfield. Caddy at $325 could be one of those inspired choices that takes you ahead of the pack. With forward legilibility you could be the Cat the got the cream if you have him from the start. Its not guaranteed, but – as the Father of Fantasy says – you need to be Robust Of Plum in this game.

    • Dools says:

      Hmm intresting question Boydo…
I'm thinking caddy at this stage mate given the retirements / depatures from Cattery. This just opens the door for Josh and given that his running ability is 2nd to none I think he is a huge inclusion for your fwd line
Anywho thats my 2 cents mate

      • Boydo says:

What about getting rid of Clarke and getting one of either Zorko or Motlop and Honeychurch is that too risky?

        • Dools says:

Sorry Boydo I can’t see you post for your team
So a stab in the dark from me..By Clarke with an E on the end we are talking Mitch?
Zorko had a lot of attention last year 3 rd year comming up I expect he will be able to handle it…Motlop thinks he is a superstar and maybe he is right …Geelong do Not have any Prima Donn’a
Nothing wrong with H’church at this time mate but let’s see out the Pre Season 1st eh? Stick to your guns mate until March rolls over, there is no Risk …The season has not started..Yet

Needs a bit of work around different places, you do still have nice picks that need to be there but a lot of PoD's that don't need to be there. Personally in my opinion I would have a different look at Hrovat, Stringer, Longer as R3, could downgrade or just be a R2, also Howard. I'd be careful with Morabito aswell. I love the Jed Lamb pick and everything is is pretty much right. Good work!

Feedback is very much apprieciated, is Luke Dunstan a bit risky? I would love Cotchin in my team for Murphy but need cash from somewhere, any ideas?

    • throttlefinger says:

Dunstan along with the rest of the rooks are a wait and see until after NAB and R1 selects (barring McDonald and Lennon, both I think will get the call off the bat). I have Dunstan in my reserves and favoring X. Ellis as the M8.

Nice team, SCMania. Rucks are the only area lacking. Consider Lobbe. Good price with great upside.

    • jimbotraralgon says:

Bartel or Mitchell to d swallow will free up cash mate.

  96. Dools says:

    Hi SCMania,

Change Mitchell for Birchell and McVeigh/Bartel for Hanley IOT afford $ Cotchin

Your R3 and 4 are long shots if Sandilands goes down or does not start. So I would use the coin in there 1st maybe Pyke or for the robust of plumb Longer as R3

Like a lot the Fwd line but again if you want to keep your original back line maybe D.Martin for Chappy. I think that gives you enough for the Cotch but No coin for Ruc upgrade(s)

I no next to zero on L Dunstan mate so I’ll have to get back to ya on that one

    • SCMania says:

Thanks Dools, with all those changes I think I'd rather keep Murphy instead of Cotchin because then I'd want all those players you said to change! You made a very good point with the ruck cover, R3 and R4. TBH I think Grundy and Sanilands are too cheap to not have and also Longer is probably a little too good and pricey for bench cover. With the cheaper ones I decided to go with Thurlow who is Essendon's 3rd Ruckman while Daniel Currie could be Majak Daw for the next Ruckman at North. I'm also considering Apeness, Nankervis, King and Lobb. Like you said though, it is a risk. Thanks for feedback mate!

      • Dools says:

        Hi Buddy,
Good descion matey I would keep your structure too…Howeva you did want Cotchin it was the easiest way for me to show you

But I’m still concered with your Rucs mate You are looking at trades in the season and I agree they are both worth it but you need to cover your Arse mate….Needless trades cost BIG in this game…
Respect your team but I think you have sacrificed your team to doughnuts in the R1,2,3 and with (maybe) a valuble Captains Loop-Hole with in R4
Good to hear from ya and lookimg forward to a responce

        • SCMania says:

Thanks Dools once again, I'll take a better look at it. I'm thinking of downgrading one of Bartel, Mitchell and McVeigh and either upgrading Thurlow to Longer or upgrading Sandilands or Grundy. A couple of a questions. Which defender would you downgrade and to who? Maybe Swallow? Who should I get rid of? Sandilands or Grundy? Get a premium Ruckman or Longer as cover? What do you think? Thanks mate.

  97. Dools says:

    Hi mate ,

I honestly do not know but I’ll give you what I’m thinking right now

    1. Sandi is worth an R3 posi So you have to sacrifice either (a)Fwd line or (b) Def or dare I say it(c) or Mids

So IMHO in reverse order Item 1 Selwood , Ablett. I think yet again! That if you do not have Abblet (like 80% of people) you are straight away behind and by behind way way behind. However if you choose to go without GAJ who has to score 140’s to maintain his price you have just made coin by the fact you have not picked him so to me maybe worth picking up by Rnd 4/5 or _IF feeling brave after the bye.

Seelwod is Worth the money he is up there with Dependleberry

Your question in defence? I would pick outa the 3 McVeigh way to exy for a 95 avg and downgrade to a Birchel or Hanley and nothing wrong with Swallow mate or even Henderson/Talia. ya gota loose KK or S’berg big holes in playing time.

Fwd line as is mate but ya gotta consider Chapman to free up coin

The Rucks If they play as it stands you have cheated death but if you went say as R1 Maric/ Pyke or back up sandiylands with ZClark (If Slands goes down I’m pretty sure ZClake steps up and also will play regardless)

Sorry for the very long reply but if you sacrifice along those lines in Order to get R coverage or maybe even Watson for your Mids with the changes but thats me mate and that was at least 50 cents worth ..sorry but I just ran out of Jamisons so now I’m off to the Talisker Malt.. hope to hear from you and your thoughts???

    • SCMania says:

Thanks Dools, I will look at those thoughts, I've heard Zac Clarke is injured for 8 weeks, not sure from now or during the season. I'll research that. Cheers.

      • Dools says:

Just read ZClarke is out for 8 mate so back to the drawing board for me…Looking at Lobb for PTA and also some young un’s from WCE buty McIntosh(GEE) is firming as R3 ATM

  98. Michael says:

    Hi Community,

2nd Team – keen for feedback from all:

    DEF: Bartel (MID) / Mitchell (MID) / Henderson / Suckling / KK / Tippett, J / Laidler / Fuller
    MID: Pendles / Cotch / Wingard (FWD) / Beams / Fyfe / Daisy / Karnezis (FWD) / Aish / McDonald (DEF) / O'Rourke
RUC: Lobbe / Sandy / King / Brown (FWD)
FWD: Danger (MID) / Dusty (MID) / Dixon (RUC) / Rohan / Caddy (MID) / Lennon / Kersten / Garlett (MID)

    $23,600 left.

Main worry is RUC atm, although I have cover with Dixon if Sandy goes down.
Lots of risk here but reward will be awesome if the likes of Caddy, Rohan, Lobbe, Henderson, Fyfe make the jump up!

    • Michael says:

Also loads of injury comebacks so the plums are sweaty lol!

    • throttlefinger says:

Hey Michael. Very interesting structure. Especially where you have your DPP rooks.

Def: is strong M1-M4 yet just need to be mindful of your rooks. Tippett, I haven't read anything about him (good or bad). Think they're are other worthwhile rookies to keep an eye on. (Cutler, Gardiner)

Mid: Interesting selection. Like the top end. No Martin? That may earn you big or hurt you bad…although the dice seem to be loaded so may be more pain than pleasure. Assuming you have Aish as your M7. Having McD in your Mid line may be a good move if you're other Def rook picks make R1. Consider X. Ellis as a backup.

Like your ruc structure. As you say, you have coverage if Sandi breaks a toenail. Have Lobbe as well. Think he's gonna have a monster year.

FWD looks good F1-F3. Caddy may be an inspired pick. Rohan gives me pause. Need to see what he does in NAB. May try to work things around to get Hogan in…but I assume you were straying from the pack with the Rohan.

      • Michael says:

Thanks mate, I guess the rooks are a bit of an unknown until NAB rolls around. Martin was a bit too pricey for me, but he's on my watchlist nonetheless.

  99. throttlefinger says:

Latest team. Rolled some dice on Def and Fwd to build some MID and Ruck strength. Will need major revisions come NAB, but like your thoughts:

    DEF
Bartel, Hodge, L. Henderson, Suckling, KK, L. McD (Fuller, Gardiner/Cutler)

    MID
Pendles, Stevens, Fyfe, Beams, Treloar, Martin, X. Ellis, Aish (Dunstan, D. Garlett)

    RUC
    Mummy, Lobbe (Osborn, Thurlow)

    FWD
Danger, Dusty, T. MItchell, B. Reid, Hogan, Lennon (Apeness, Ambrose)

  100. SCMania says:

Hey guys, do you think Lobbe from PTA is a better option than Sandilands who will give you more $ left over. Also is a FWD line like this too risky?

    F: P. Dangerfield D. Martin J. Hogan S. Kersten N. Bock G. Rohan ( B. Lennon L. Taylor )

    Thanks!

    • throttlefinger says:

Hey SCMania. I have Lobbe as my R2. Think he's gonna go balls out to warrant that spot. Sandi, even with Clarke out with hacky sack spain, can't see him going past 10 games.

That forward line is a bit too risky. Kersten may not even see any time R1-3, although you could switch with Lennon who probably will. Bock and Rohan, is like putting your money down on hard eight. Big chance. Basically you need a much stronger F3 and F4, in my opinion. Hogan could be your F5.

      • jockreynolds says:

        You're a bloody ripper throttle

      • lostlarrikin says:

Lobbe worth every cent, dont let the fact that im a Power supporter sway ya :D

        • throttlefinger says:

Ha! I have a structure with Lobbe/Grundy as the lead rucks. Bit ballsy yet those two could have huge upsides and free money for a stronger Fwd/Def line.

          • SCMania says:

Cheers everyone, with a new team I made last night I went with Goldstein and Lobbe on the field, that's going to be safe and like you said, Sandilands is going to be way too risky.

I'm thinking I will take a risk with the FWD, although I'll be very careful with the rookies/midpricers. I'm still looking at M. Honeychurch. Thanks!

            • throttlefinger says:

Honeychurch is one that I hope has a strong pre-season. Nice to have a reasonably priced DPP to throw in the reserves.

  101. SCMania says:

Hey guys, Trent Cotchin or Jobe Watson? Thanks!

    • throttlefinger says:

Jobe is the more sensible call. BUT I think if your gut says Cotchin, you should go for it as he could be in for a great year. Had an OK year by his standards and still landed 106/gm.

      • SCMania says:

Thanks, I really agree that Watson is probably a more sensible option but I think Cotchin will fly if he breaks all the tags but Watson will always handle one. Cheers.

        • throttlefinger says:

Honeychurch is one I have on my NAB watch list for FWD. Could be a surprise DPP option.

  102. chandanrajdb says:

    Hello Community,

My first crack at my team, would love community's thoughts on it…….

    DEF:
Bartel, Hanley, D Swallow, M Suckling, S Darley, KK, T Cutler, M Fuller

    MID:
    G Ablett, S Pendlebury, J Selwood, D Beams, D Thomas, J Martin, D Tyson, C Beams, L McDonald, D Garlett

    RUCKS:
    M Lobbe, B Grundy, M Apeness, T Nankervis

    FWD:
    P Dangerfield, D Martin, C Dixon, J Caddy, J Hogan, L McCarthy, L Taylor, M Honeychurch

Have got $47,800 left in the bank…..

    Thank you,
    Raj….

    • SCMania says:

Hey Raj, very nice team. The only 2 I'm not sure about are Darley and McCarthy. Other than that it is great! Cheers.

    • throttlefinger says:

Agree with SCMania regarding Darley and McCarthy. I have McC as a reserve. But all rooks are a NAB watch.

Only suggestions is consider moving Luke McD to your starting Def. In Mid you could also use X. Ellis and move C. Beams into your reserves. Lot of money left so once you see who's looking good and gonna make the R1 cut, you can use to advantage.

      Very solid team, Raj.

      • chandanrajdb says:

        Hi TF and SCMania,

Thanks for your comments above much appreciated…….

I have done the following changes to my above team,

        OUT: J Selwood, S Darley, L McCarthy and B Grundy….

        IN: A Sandilands, J Watson, C Guthrie, and B Lennon…..

Have got $64,100 left in the bank……

        Cheers,
        Raj…….

  103. Beached az says:

Would love some feedback if anyone has any thoughts, thanks fellas! No cash left :/

    B: A. Walker, P. Hanley, S. Hurn, M. Suckling, K. Kolodjashnij, L. McDonald (J. Laidler, M. Fuller)

    M: G. Ablett, S. Pendlebury, M. Murphy, D. Beams, D. Thomas, J. Martin, J. Aish, C. Beams (V. Michie, J. Polec)

    R: N. Naitanui, A. Sandilands (M. Apeness, D. Currie)

    F: P. Dangerfield, L. Franklin, M. Pavlich, J. Waite, M. Clark, A. Fasolo (N. Bock, S. Kersten)

    • throttlefinger says:

Definitely what I'd call a pre-season POD team. Plums of Gibraltar, Beached az.

Of the big 4 Defs, Walker is the riskiest IMO, given the reports that he'll be moving up a bit. But he is dynamic player and rarely misses a game. I've considered Hurn, especially with WCE favorable SC schedule. He's a bit of a risk given injury and inconsistent play in the early part of the season.

Ruc, Sandi could repay you early so you can upgrade or burn ya down. Think if he has a good pre-season and they bring back Clarke slow, he could put up the numbers to make that happen. Backing that up with Apeness is wise. Your FWD line is probably the weakest and riskiest of the all. Tinkering with Buddy. Not sure how much adjustment period he will need (or better yet, will he come out blazing or limp like end of year noodle). Think you need another DPP fwd/mid in there to beef it up. Especially Waite. Can't see him spinning gold. That has to be a gut call.

      • SCMania says:

A lot too many injury risks there mate. Hurn NicNat, Sandilands, Pavlich, Clark and Waite don't need to be there. Hope this helps a little, cheers!

  104. jimbotraralgon says:

    Hi guys.

Been sitting on this mix for a while.

D/ Mitchell, McVeigh, d swallow, suckling, Docherty, mcdonald, (kk,fuller)
M/ gaz, pendles, d beams, smurph, daisy, c beams, j martin, j polec (aish, O'Rourke)
    R/ nicnat, Sandi (longer, nankervis)
F/ danger, wingard, buddy, Higgins, fasolo, kersten (l Taylor, garlett)

    $56k in bank

Don't worry Higgins won't be in the side come round 1. Higgins, docherty and aish are overpriced place markers for flexibility.

Ideally Higgins will be dusty by turning docherty into a cheap playing rookie like a Langdon and aish becomes a morobito.

    Thoughts?

    • throttlefinger says:

Very solid, Jimbo. The Beams-Murph-Daisy trio is one I've been thinking about, as it could pay off the biggest. Although I'm sure we aren't the only ones thinking that. C-Beams and Polec are good choices for M7-8, even as a price placeholder.

In your FWD line I think there will be better options for Fasolo and Kersten, the former is being brought back slow from injury and the latter probably won't crack R1 Cat lineup. Lennon is probably a safer choice. Tiges need help in the fwd line and he's a goal marksman. Hogan may be another to consider for your F5. His buddy M. Clark could be a good replacement for Higgins. Depends on their pre-season form.

      • SCMania says:

Agree TF, some risks are Higgins, NicNat and Docherty. Other than that it's is a super team!

    • Dools says:

      G’day Jimbo
I really like your reasoning and it has my seal of asesomnessness!
Solid Team mate but have a look at Lennon (FWD) cheap and ready to go R 1 and of course Jessie Hogan (FWD) Demons. If he were in the draft this year he would have gone No 1 by a long long way

  105. Ray says:

First Draft (well published anyway. 33K over which I expect to find in the rucks once I see some form from the likes of Longer, Lobbe, Sandy etc

Def: Bartel, Pearce, Mitchell, Swallow, Hampton, Tape (KK, Fuller)

Mid: Dependelbury, Griffin, Watson, Beams D, Martin, Tyson, Aish, Polec, McDonald, Garlett

    Ruck: Grundy, Longer, Nankervis, Apeness

Fwd: Dangerfield, Wingard, Dixon, Hunter, Hogan, Rohan, Kersten/O’Brien, Taylor (lewis)

    • SCMania says:

Hi Ray, a few nice PoDs in there mate, although a lot of risky picks who I don't think will deliver in your team. The ones who I'd take a better look at are Hampton, Tape, Nankervis and Hunter. You also are taking a make or break decision with both of your rucks. Griffen is a very solid PoD I think, I'd swap McDonald for Polec as I think McDonald will play most of the year. Nankervis is one of the best Ruckman pick ups in the draft for 2014 but with Sydney's ruck depth it probably isn't the best option, take a look at Currie, Thurlow and Rory Lobb, all could play, especially Lobb and Currie. There is a lot better options than Hunter but I don't mind O'Brien. With a couple of changes very nice! We'll done.

      • Ray says:

Thanks for the Feedback. I see a mention in an earlier post re Lennon. Seen nothing on him up to now so what’s the good oil on him..?Being a Tiger I thought they would have Reiwoldt (the lesser)Vickery, Hampson, Mcbean ahead of newbies???
Concur on the Rucks but they are a work in progress. I expect Hmac to be an in if he can get fit for the start of the season and then cash will be the decider on that.
I thought both Hampton and Tape showed good improvement towards the end of 13 and were pretty good value but will, again, watch the NAB for other options.
Who do you think (for the current money) beats Hunter? I thought his DPP would give him some flex that other Forwards didnt have and I have seen him talked up a bit this year but know little of him.
I am currently deployed a long way from SC information and am relying heavily on Intel from you guys to get a team together noting we get back the day the season proper starts. Keep up the talk and keep that good info coming.

  106. Michael says:

    Hi Community,

Opinion time – what's the better combo in MIDS:

    1. Fyfe / Cotchin
    2. Jelwood / Grigg + $153800 cash

  107. SCMania says:

Hey guys, is Cameron Giles a solid option to go with Matt Fuller as bench cover in the defence? Also who is a better option out of Bartel and Mitchell? Thanks!

    • Rhino says:

Hi SCMania I’ve only heard a little about Giles but it’s all been good news, I believe he is a solid option. Very tough question bartel or mitchell. I am leaning to bartel since he is less likely to cop a tag.

  108. Wombats says:

    V2.0
I'm concerned about Mitch Clarks so he could be replaced by any of the 6 or so proven fwds in same price range, the rucks might be a problem too, all depends on NAB games I suppose.

Bartell, Mitchell, Hanley, Suckling, Watson, Hartigan (L.McDonald, Fuller)
Ablett, Cotchin, Wingard, Murphy, Beams, Caddy, Bell, Martin (Polec, Garlett)
    McIntosh, Sandi (Thurlow, Mitchell)
    N.Riewaldt, Dixon, M.Robinson, M.Clark, T.Menzel, Hogan (Broomhead, Honeychurch)

  109. Nathan says:

Hi community, your thoughts on my team would be much appreciated.

    DEF
McVeigh, Hanley, Hibberb, Suckling, KK, Mcdonald (Fuller, Cutler)
    MID
Ablett, Watson (?), Rockliff, D. Beams, D.Thomas, Tyson, Aish, Sheed (Dunston, O'rourke)
    RUCK
    Leuy, Lobbe (Apeness, Nankervis)
    FWD
Danger, Martin, Wingard, Motlop, Lennon, L. Taylor (Broomhead, Garlett)

    Cheers

    • Nathan says:

      Hibberd*

      • SCMania says:

A really nice team there mate! A couple of make or break PoD's who I like, I'd personally go with Cotchin or Fyfe as M3. Also I'd change Ablett to Pendlebury or Selwood. Cheers!

        • Nathan says:

Thanks for your input dude :)

I was just doing some research on the Ablett Vs Pendles for M1 myself using higgos spread sheets, and found that Pendles is more durable, scores more tons and his s.d. is 22 compared to Abletts 29. So im pretty much sold there.

Although why do you reccommend changing rocky? I have $23,400 cash left. IMO Rocky is going to ave 115-130 and he averaged 129 in the back half of the year once voss stoped playing him forward.

My main concern is Watson tbh.

  110. jimbotraralgon says:

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

Made some minor changes to strengthen the forward line but it means I haven't got any flexibility on the rookies price wise. Docherty and aish have been downgraded with Higgins being upgraded to dusty. Will be watching Lennon, Bock, and Rohan as potential replacements for fasolo and kerstenalthough I have a feeling about kersten.

P Mitchell will be my captain loophole at R4.

    Def: J.McVeigh (100), S.Mitchell (100), D.Swallow (95), M.Suckling (90), K.Kolodjashnij (70), L.McDonald (70) (M.Fuller (60), T.Langdon (50))
    Mid: G.Ablett (120), S.Pendlebury (130), M.Murphy (115), D.Beams (120), D.Thomas (105), J.Martin (80), C.Beams (90), J.Polec (75) (J.O'Rourke (70), A.Morabito (65))
    Ruc: N.Naitanui (110), A.Sandilands (100) (B.Longer (80), P.Mitchell (18.98))
    Fwd: P.Dangerfield (118), D.Martin (110), C.Wingard (100), L.Franklin (110), A.Fasolo (80), S.Kersten (70) (D.Garlett L.Taylor)

    $7400 in bank.

    • throttlefinger says:

Cracking team, Jimbo. Think this structure is definitely a keeper. Nice balance. Easy to plug in solid performing R1 starting rooks. May need to keep some DPP in your Mids to swing to Def and Fwd. Don't think that's too important now but something to keep in mind with Byes coming early.

  111. SCMania says:

Hey guys, just a few changes.

    DEF: J. Bartel/S. Mitchell J. McVeigh P. Hanley M. Suckling K. Koladjashnij L. McDonald ( M. Fuller C. Giles/ T. Cutler )

    MID: G. Ablett S. Pendlebury J. Selwood, T. Cotchin/J. Watson D. Beams J. Martin D. Tyson L. Dunstan ( J. O'Rourke D. Garlett )

    RUC: T. Goldstein M. Lobbe ( D. Currie M. Apeness/R. Lobb )

    FWD: P. Dangerfield D. Martin/C. Wingard N. Bock J. Hogan G. Rohan B. Lennon ( L. Taylor S. Kersten )

    Feedback is much appreciated, cheers!

    • throttlefinger says:

Not much to say towards this. Very strong. Only thing to be mindful of is your Mid DPP. May want to have a Def swinger in there. Byes coming earlier. Otherwise pretty tits lineup, SCMania.

      • SCMania says:

Thanks TF, I'll ty to doth at a some stage but I don't think there is another god option on the field unless I change the whole structure. Cheers!

  112. throttlefinger says:

Version 83. Tried to mix it up and add some strength to Rucs (thanks Dools). Lacking in Mid DPP to Def. Plan on that being an early adjustment before or during byes. Forward reserves are a concern.

    Thoughts?

    DEF
Bartel, Mitchell, Swallow, Suckling, KK, L. McD (Gardiner/Culter, Fuller)

    MID
Pendles, Fyfe, S. Selwood, Beams, Daisy, J. Martin, Aish, X. Ellis (Dunstan, Garlett)

    RUC
    Mummy, Lobbe, (Longer, Thurlow)

    FWD
Danger, Dusty, T. Mitchell, L. Henderson, Hogan, Lennon (Brown, Ambrose)

    • SCMania says:

Hey TF, Ambrose is nice in the forward line I think, also T. Mitchell. I'm not sure about Henderson or Brown but if your gut says Henderson go with him. Brown can go for Apeness. Scott Selwood is the same as Henderson, if your gut says…. Other than that a fantastic team, good luck!

      • throttlefinger says:

Back and forth between Henderson and Reid. Would like to get a Def-Fwd swing started. May switch and go for Motlop, Zorko or Chappy. Some risks there, either way. Sure pre-season form will dictate. Thanks for your feedback, SCMania.

    • Dools says:

      Hi Mate
Defence looks very strong with excellent rookies
I’m concerned for Bartel I think he will play more time up forward this year. Geelong have great defencive strength So logical they push him up the ground to take advantage of rebound 50’s
Mitchell will cop a tag but he is good enought to break free (Too H/balls for SC for me) I’m Looking at Scofield WCE
Midfield I’m delighted to S.Selwood great choice for the return and value for the coin I’m also intrested in Priddis,Sharringham and Gaff
Rucs well we have talked about them
Fwds look the goods mate as mentioned if they have a good NAB
      Nice Throttle

      • throttlefinger says:

Think we've talked about this, Dools. Part of me wants to avoid the D's Big 4 (JB, SM, JMcV and AW) and pluck some of the others up (Birchall, Swallow, Ricky Henderson, Houli, etc). Not sure. Think JB is solid money. Mitchell more so. Plus you'll know they're probably be good for a ton, much like Goddard was last season.

WCE has a nice start draw. If they enter R1 healthy and inspired, may add NicNat, Marsten or one of the others you mentioned. Got burned by LeCras and Hurn last year…but they could be options as well.

Appreciate sharing your lager-powered SC logic, Dools.

  113. Matt says:

Here's my first go. DEF and MIDs quite strong. Thinking about downgrading Hodge to D. Swallow, and Ablett to Daisy to improve the FWD line, which is obviously extremely weak at the moment. Mitchell (RUC) is the captains loophole. Other rookies destined to change. FWD line looks a bit better when you consider Bock, Higgins and to a degree Rohan are all experienced players.

    DEF
Bartel, Mitchell, McVeigh, Hodge, McDonald, Laidler (Fuller, Richards)

    MID
GAJ, Pendlebury, Griffen, J Watson, Beams, J. Martin, Tyson, (Polec, Garlett)

    RUC
    Lobbe, Sandi (Apeness, Mitchell)

    FWD
Dangerfield, L. Parker, Higgins, Billings, Bock, Rohan (Honeychurch, Towers)

    60k left.

    Thoughts are appreciated .

    • throttlefinger says:

Very strong DEF and MID for sure, Matt. Really like Griffen and Jobe combo. While those are sure things, it makes the rucks and forwards highly risky. Sandi is a pretty good risk, especially considering you have no DPP in the forward line to support if Apeness doesn't get the call.

Billings with his injury is not a sure thing. Your forward line is built on a lot of hope. Think it's good to have some but with Higgins, Bock and Rohan that level of plums may anger the SC gods. Also, I like Parker but not as a F2. Would be a strong F3.

Would suggest doing your thought Hodge for Swallow (or even going McV for Swallow and Hodge for a midpricer) and Gazza for Daisy to give you enough to beef up Ruc and Fwds, while still keeping Def and Mids potent.

      Hope that helps.

      • Rhino says:

Very solid team Matt, I believe you should get rid of one of the big three defenders for, as throttle said swallow, mid very strong but choose one of gaz or pendles and bring in daisy or another around the mid price range. Rucks strong and capable of getting you good scores. Have to say your forward line is your weekest. Danger good choice so is Parker but not at F2, billings is injured and might not make it to rd 1 wait and see for him, also we all know about Higgins he is injury prone and one of the worst fantasy players ever, although now I’m saying he will average 110 haha. Don’t mind bock and Rohan but get rid of billings. With the cash from the downgrades above. Hope this helped

  114. SCMania says:

Hey guys, this year it looks like the best structure is a weaker FWD and a weaker MID and stronger RUC and DEF. That's my opinion, what about yours?

  115. mikey says:

My 2nd crack at a team.

DEF: Walker, McVeigh, Mitchell, Hanley, Suckling, Fuller (Flynn, Battersby)
MID: Pendlebury, Selwood, Watson, Rockliff, Martin J, Aish, McDonald, Garlett (Honeychurch, Taylor)
    RUC: Grundy, Sandilands (Nankervis, Lobb)
FWD: Dangerfield, Martin, Roughead, Kennedy, Hogan, Lennon (Kennedy-Harris, Luxford)

    $1500 left.

Fairly happy with this line-up, have 10 out each week in bye rounds (4 premiums in rd 8, 3 in rd 9 and 4 in rd 10), a few DPP's so I can swap a few blokes around between mid/fwd and def/mid.

Hope you guys can tell me what you reckon?

    • Dools says:

      G'day Mikey,
Love the Defence but Flynn and Batersby?
Hmm solid elite/Prems mate like Martin Just heard Aish ma be under an injury cloud but on more research I think he is destined to play footy this year How many? How long is a peice of string?
Your Ruc dept is so exposed but I see the value added in other lines.
Again like your def your playing6 are sound but long shots for back up if something goes astray . I think you are headed for trade city big time across a few lines but that's just MO mate so tweek here and there and maybe sacrifice one of your mid 600K players insert Danger and fool around with cheap DPP in the fwd line so you can move the Danger back up front!
      hope this was constructive

      • mikey says:

thanks Dools, yeh the rockbottom rookies I've slotted in (Flynn, Battersby, Luxford, Lobb) are fillers at present and might / will most likely change them though I do want at least one bloke that's likely never to play (for captain's loophole). I've tried a team that is not going to be heavily hit in the bye rounds i.e. having 4/3/4 premiums out each round instead of like 7/1/3 etc. but not totally convinced on McVeigh vs Bartel. But yeh have thought maybe sacrifice one premium for a few midpricers or better rookies. haven't heard about Aish but thanks.

  116. Rhino says:

    Alright would appreciate answers.

Motlop from cats or Parker from swans

    Thoughts?

  117. Dools says:

    Geez Rhino

Motlop by a very small fraction like a miniscule ammount mate

Motlop can break a game open in less then a quater, destroying opposition.

I like parker as well maybe both?

    • Rhino says:

Yeah tough question I want both but I have currently have Kennedy from eagles. What do you reckon about him, has a easy draw

      • Dools says:

Hi Rhino…I love the SC potential of many many WCE players but Kennedy is not a bad SC player and in real life an excitment machine with big contested grabs and a ripping foot (aside from the stutter on walk up but hey I find it very entertaining esp counting the steps from different angles)So what is the team structure at the moment mate?
I will tinker around with it and get back to ya…

        • Matt says:

What are your thoughts on three other WCE players, fellas: Priddis, Masten and Shuey. All had averages affected by mid game injury, and WCE have a nice draw this year. Massive PODs i assume. Doubt i'll be able to squeeze any of them in though.

          • Dools says:

            G’day Matt,
I think Priddis is Locked if he is over niggles
Masten can be a breakout this year. Shuey can be forgiven for last years effort in SC scores as the team went down the injury trail So he is a definte watch
I also really like S.Selwood had a great year and could be like his brother this year and I rate his price. I can only see an up side with him in your squad. Also The Draw favours WCE and the round 9 bye is nice. Have a look at Scofield down the back – destined for more mid time and also Wellingham over ankle injuries could be a very big year for all mentioned

I am happy with my side except my F4 position and its flow on to M10 and D8 rookies.

    Can you guys help?

Option A is Wingard. Would love to get a premo in here but to do this I only have $125k for the final mid and defender position. At moment I have morobito and Langdon but if they don’t get up i’m in strife.

Option B is Luke Parker or titch. This gives me an extra $50k on the lower rookie and some flexibility. Downside is if they don’t have a breakout year they could be dead weight in the forward line.

Option C is fully speculative in Higgins. We all know the risk associated with him. But this would let me go for docherty in defence and aish in the miss, players with higher job security you would think.

Or D, Bock or a rookie (making 5 forward rookies). Gives Docherty, aish and $150k to cover any rookie playing/not playing round 1.

Or E your suggestion. I have danger, buddy, dusty, fasolo, kersten,Taylor and garlett otherwise.

    Bit of advice guys?

    • throttlefinger says:

Like Option B, Jimbo. Option A relies too heavy on Moro and Lang to make it on the field. Like Wingard but Parker and Titch will deliver…and with Mitchellson he could deliver big, as he won't grab the tag. Options C & D seem risky, for the reasons you suspect.

Don't know if this will help, but here's what I've been tooling with, and it was started by a brilliant suggestion by Dools. Move Danger to your Mids and act as your Fwd swing. F1: Martin. F2: Wingard F3: Dixon (ruc swing) F4: Titch F5: Hogan (although heard he injured his knee) F6: B. Lennon (McCarthy, Kersten…both will get some PT down the line).

      • jimbotraralgon says:

        i like b as well.

I understand the swing benefit of danger in the mid but I don't want to be the one to tell gaz, pendles or beams they are out of the side.

I like Dixon for the Ruck insurance. Maybe him at f4 could be the go. Will he go big enough?

        • throttlefinger says:

Feel he'll be worth the cash, Jimbo. For the limited games he played, he made an impact. Came out strong last season with 105 ave. Went ton 6 games out of 13. May be worth a gamble.

Hear ya about moving Danger to mids. Like it as a sound coverage move. My mid struc would be: Pendles, Danger, S.Selwood, Beams, Treloar, Martin, Aish and Ellis. Got Gazza when his value dropped in R6 last year. Probably do the same this year (but earlier).

  119. jimbotraralgon says:

    WARNING.

If, like me you have fasolo in your side, he is still not training with the group.

  120. IHTC says:

Gone for full Mid with view of moving Mid / Fwd and Mid/ Def back into their positions and upgrade rookies in Def and Fwd line to Prem Mid

    DEF
Hanley, Birchall, R. Shaw, Suckling, Kolodjashnij, McDonald (Fuller, Hunt)

    MID
Dangerfield, Bartel, Fyfe, Beams, S.Mitchell, Hannebery, Murphy, Martin (Jack, B, D. Garlett)

    RUC
McIntosh, Sandilands (Derickx or Rookie, Thurlow)

    FWD
Dixon, Franklin, Parker, Gunston, Bock, Rohan (Taylor, Honeychurch)

Higginator has me down with only Rookie 43%, Mid 37% and Prem 20% but guessing thats due to high number of players I have between $450-500.

    Too risky??

    • throttlefinger says:

That's a bold team, IHTC. Yeah, you're kinda going all in with your Mids. Very stout, balls out, reliable lineup. Think Hanneberry could be the big surprise in the mids. Def line isn't too bad. Those rooks will most likely get some play.

But the Rucs and Fwds are very thin. Not too many reliables. Dixon and Parker are strong selections. Buddy may take off or start off slow, especially adjusting to narrower home quarters (and perhaps the pressure of expectations initially). Like Gunston but is he a solid SC player but not going to earn you any big points. But with Buddy gone, who knows? Bock and Rohan are question marks. See how they do in NAB. Sandi and McIntosh are both lords of the bandage. Leaving yourself exposed. Would throw Apeness in their as a reserve.

All in all, you're relying on your mids to do all of your heavy lifting. Not sure that's a good foundation to build on. Just my 2 cents.

    • kim says:

I would not go with Sandilands and McIntosh in rucks as very likely one of them may get injured early on, too many mid-pricers in midfield. Get rid of marc murphy for dom sheed from WC or another rookie who will play rd 1 and put in premo ruck like cox, minson or goldy west coast play dogs, melb and st k in first 3 rounds so I’m going cox for sure. Your light on in def also shaw is too old and suckling may not play rd 1. No pendles or ablett? Need one of them for sure. I have both as pies play 5 of first 9 on fri night so easy capt loophole for me.

  121. Beached az says:

Thanks for the feedback. Had a few risky choices in my first draft so take two looks a bit more solid to me.

I have however still got Hurn for the Eagles' early draw and I think he can be a premium scorer as long as he's fit. Jack Steven is also there for his early draw, though I'm hoping he could really become a dominant scorer this year.
