gambino supercoach punting clubIt’s that time of the week again punters! Punt Club rolls into Round 16 and I’m dying to get stuck into it man.

During these winter months, business is tough in the Mr Whippy van – that’s why I’m always on the lookout for some value in the fantasy footy betting markets.

SUPERCOACH HEAD TO HEAD MARKETS

Scott Thompson ($1.88) vs Rory Sloane ($1.88)
Hasn’t old Scotty Thompson fallen right off the radar this year? Generally a proven fantasy scorer, Thompson’s numbers have definitely been down this year – especially when you compare it to his stellar seasons of 2011 and 2012. Sloane has battled on this year and despite Adelaide’s poor form he’s still kept his average at 102 SC points. Reckon he might just turn it on under lights at the G. Just feel that at 30, Thompson is starting to slide but the only way is up for Rory Sloane. I really like Sloane here, jump on!

Jack Watts ($1.80) vs Jeremy Howe ($1.95)
Probably never thought I’d say this a few weeks ago, but I’m super confident in Jack Watts here. I’m telling youse community; Jack Watts is a changed man under Neil Craig! He was absolutely brilliant against the Western Bulldogs pumping out 139 points, and then followed that up with a solid 88 against reigning premiers Sydney. Whilst we all love watch the Howe boy climb all over players’ backs, he’s no fantasy player man. Howe’s played every game this year and only managed two SC tons. I reckon that we’ll start to see the best of Jack Watts in the back end of the season here. All over Wattsy here.

Dion Prestia ($1.88) vs Harley Bennell ($1.88)
A few of us out there almost fell into the trap of putting Bennell in our fantasy teams at the start of the year, man that feels like a long time ago! I can’t trust Bennell in this one. He missed 5 games in a row through injury and only returned last week. His three SC tons this year have come against Brisbane twice and Melbourne. The going will get a lot tougher for him this week against Richmond. The little nugget Dion Prestia has been a gun this year. 6 out of his last 8 games have resulted in SC tons. Find it tough to look past Prestia here. Back him!

Brett Goodes ($1.88) vs Adam Cooney ($1.88)
The bloody Goodes boy doesn’t show many signs of slowing down does he?! I like his chances over Adam Cooney community. Cooney only has one SC ton is his last 8 games. Goodes has been a little up and down recently through injury and suspension but I’m pretty confident in him, so long as he doesn’t cop a tag. Goodes obviously hasn’t played Essendon before and when these teams met last year, Cooney bombed out with 50 points. I rolled up my van down at Whitten Oval recently to have a look at training, whilst flogging a few ice creams, and I can tell youse Goodes looked sharp. Coach Macca – after a free ice cream – said he’d fancy Goodes to comfortably knock off Cooney here. Jump on!

Cyril Rioli ($1.88) vs Luke Hodge ($1.88)
The mail I’m getting from Waverley Park is that the Hawks are slowly working Rioli back into senior footy. They didn’t opt to play him through the VFL; instead they started him as sub last week and I’m hearing he’s not going to get a whole lot of game time this week either. With an SC average of 95 this year, I have enough confidence in Hodge to get the job done here. He’s a proven fantasy scorer who rarely drops below the 80 mark. Hodge’s record at AAMI Stadium is good; he averages 99 SC points there. I’m on Captain Hodge here community.

As always, would’ve love to hear who you’re backing this week community! Tweet us @Vince_Gambino or simply post a comment in the section below.

Happy Punting, Vince Gambino

Tom Nicchols vs Richmond or Dawson Simpson vs Melbourne?

  2. Bruce says:

    5 on Scotty Thompson

  3. SMH says:

should i field hibberd or goodes this week?

  4. DanGreen says:

My top 5 SC head to heads this week:

Sidebottom over Cloke – This is Sidebottom's 100th game. Last time they met Cloke scored 26 and Steele 142

Swan over Pendlebury – Pendlebury should cop the Van Berlo tag (which kept Ablett to only 115)

Cotchin over Deledio – Last three games avg is Cotchin 99 v Deledio 83. Also, this is Cotchin's 100th.

Swallow over Harvey – Harvey will cop the Raines tag

Priddis over Masten – Priddis avg vs Freo is 106 to Masten 68. Priddis is just in better form

Love the Sidebum call Dan mate – I'll be throwing a tenner on that if its his 100th this week. You reckon sportsbet take that into account when they set the odds?

  5. Big sauss says:

Please help… Who should I get in for Watson on dreamteam not supercoach:Cornes, dangerfield, Stanton, Mitchell, jelwood, fyfe, mundy?
    Thanks

Like your Rory Sloane and Brett Goodes picks this week, Vince. Thompson looks like he's feeling the effects of carrying the Crows midfield the past few years, he's looking slow and fumbly out there, not himself at all.

With my $10 ($2 per pick) this week i've gone

    Joel Selwood over Jimmy Bartel
Brett Goodes over Adam Cooney (Multied with Selwood to get the odds @3.53)
And like DanGreen, i've taken Sidebum over Cloke (Plus Cloke will have Talia chasing him all night) and Priddis over Masten.

Then in the SC groups I picked
Joel Selwood @4.50 in Cats v Demons Round 16 Group 1 (VS Stevie J, Bartel, Stokes, Jones, Garland, Sylvia and Howe)

    • Marc says:

      Results from this week

Joel Selwood and Brett Goodes multi got me + $14.14
Sidebottom over Cloke got me + $3.50

      Joel Selwood Cats v Demons Round 16 Group 1 – $2.00
Matt Priddis over Chris Masten – $2.00

      End the week + $13.64

  7. DanGreen says:

Have to agree with you Mr B on Selwood – take out the Crowley tag from Freo, and he has last 3 scores of 137, 135 151 vs Bartel of 91, 106, 103 (this head to head was not on the website when I picked my top 5).

Also, having second thoughts about Priddis – with no Shuey or Selwood, who else would Crowley go to?

  8. Michael says:

What happened to Watts? Howe getting 46 should've been money in the bank – instead Watts stinks it up with 26!! Did he get injured?
