    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8w1p5UI7Siw

Jock have you been hiding another talent of yours???

  4. Cold Pies says:

i suppose it depends whether you playing for 1K or 50K or your league win

  5. HMitch35 says:

DO NOT put a picture like that again!

  6. Cicjose says:

dont care about Goddard and Heppell cause everyone has them….
Pavlich would have had a good score had he kicked straight,,,,, nothing wrong with his score

dont have anyone with a injury

    • IceColdCousins says:

pav is injured mate, had to get his webbing stitched back up after the game and he go reported aswell

    • Pete says:

Heppell tagged Dangerfield out of the game, had a cracker LOCK!

      • TheAnointedOne says:

It was Hocking who tagged Dangerfield out of the game in the 2nd half. But agree a lock for me.

  7. PortJared04 says:

Going to stick with Shuey no matter his score in round 2, gun gun gun. However depending on Ryder's rd2 performance he could be the one to make way for a Roughie or McEvoy

  8. Tom says:

    Roughy or Zorko jock?

    And 3. Jock

    2. Higg

    1. Crouch( sorry mate)

  9. Tim says:

Very good podcast guys I had 5 players play over the weekend and they all let me down…. They included Duffield, Goddard, Cox, Ryder & Shuey I had figured out before the podcast that I shall not freak out a go trade crazy, I shall hold off until round 3 to start trading. I think I have finally figured out the ways of the beloved Jock reynolds and his supercoach genius!!

  10. @MRB37 says:

Absolute top notch advice fella's, 1 game a supercoach season does not make. You trade out players like Shuey, Pavlich, Fyfe, Goddard and Dangerfield now and you'll regret it later as you have to use another trade to bring them back in. Remember, sometimes it's the trades you don't make that make your side better.

I'm trading LeCras too, but I'm not sure who i'll get at this point. Kennedy is the obvious choice, but I'll wait to see how the players go next week.

CrouchingOne, as a Crows fan I would greatly appreciate you fixing up the Dangerman for Round 2. Another tough game up in Brisbane for him, Crows will need him firing on all cylinders to win that one.

Walker (and the Crows as a whole) were smashed, but he scored 91. That's a bloody fantastic return for mine in that situation. When the midfield fires he won't need to go up the field as much and the goals will come. Don't think Jenkins will be dropped, but I can see a situation where they throw another tall like Johnston or McKernan up there so when Walker does go up field they at least have a target to take a grab in the forward 50.

  11. kevin says:

Is dustin martin worth having in my forward or have another premium backman. Equal to 4 prem backs

    • SCaddict says:

I'm prepared to take the punt on Dusty. I can understand some coaches being gun shy given what happened last year. But his price is too darn irresistible to pass up this year imho.

With Cox moved into my ruck line and the LeCras injury I can now squeeze both him and Stevie J into my forward line.

So yes I reckon he's worth a go if you can fit him in to your forward structure.

  12. Pete says:

    Brilliant pod cast guys

  13. Rocksta says:

Will stick it out with Danger, but Shuey really is a concern. I know he had the best tagger in the game on him but 12 odd possessions for a supposed premium mid, simply not good enough. I also have Fyfe and although he played okay, his disposal isnt good (48%) efficiency and note that it never has been flash. Any thoughts?

    • pdid says:

Keep Fyfe bro. 96 @ 48% it's not like he's going to get 48% efficiency every week! He'll go up in price and score well all year ( hopefully )

  14. joel says:

do we get a sticky beak at the higganbotham team????

  15. Dan says:

Great podcast guys but No talk about howlett
Now jock is this guy going to keep up that output 165 sc points bloody good game
Would be interested to know if anyone picked him

  16. tension says:

Yes Mr. Higgo are you hiding your team in a spreadsheet?

Fancy joining another SC league? I've got six spots to fill.
    Invite code: 341656

    All welcome.

  17. SCaddict says:

Whilst I understand Jock's argument I think you really need to move on LeCras straight away especially if you have a logical replacement in mind. You don't know what trades you may need to do after Rd 2.

For you may need both trades then to optimise your team for the commencement of league action in Rd 3 such as to contend with a new long term injury and/or bring in a rookie or mid price bolter such as a Zorko that you simply can't miss out on.

As I already have JJK I'll be immediately upgrading Lecca to Stevie J as I reckon I can rely on him to generate premium output and his one round suspension fits nicely here.

Of course I realise not everyone can upgrade depending on their cash situation and may be forced to downgrade instead but fortunately I have a spare $150K lying around just for this sort of contingency.

    • Dean says:

Now that Stevie J is out for at least another 4 to 6 weeks depending where you get your info from, you might want to get J Bartel if you can afford him, but if not J Lewis is a great upgrade for Lecca. Good Luck.

      • SCaddict says:

Yeah thanks Dean. I'm considering both those fellas you mentioned as well as Roughy for a bit more cash.

  18. CHRIS says:

TOP PODCAST FELLAS. YOU BLOKES ARE LEGENDS.

  19. CHRIS says:

TOOK A PUNT THURSDAY NIGHT AND TRADED KOMMERS FOR M JONES. AT THIS POINT, HAPPY I DID. THE KID CAN PLAY. OBVIOUSLY THE DONS COULD SEE SOMETHING WE DID NOT. WITH HIS COMMITMENT I RECKON HE WILL ONLY GET BETTER. I KNOW IT IS ONLY ONE GAME BUT, DARE I SAY IT, HE MAY WELL DO A ZORKO.

    • SCaddict says:

He certainly looks the goods and rocking those locks he's hard to miss. Whether the have the same fantasy ceiling as other vaunted midfield rookies we'll have to wait and see but the Bombers have found themselves a player.

    • Dean says:

No where near as good as what Zorko showed last year in my opinion, but at this stage im glade I took out Crouch for Kommers. I just think Crouch will struggle to get games in a quality Adelaide side.

  20. CHRIS says:

I AGREE, BUT THOSE MORE FANCIED MID ROOKIES NEED TO GET A GAME FIRST AND THEN AVOID THE VEST.

  21. Andrew says:

Jock mate why are we not pointing out a 120 game from young chris mayne in the fwd line for freo at 431k he was a steal! glad i did my research :-)

  22. jimbotraralgon says:

    Hi guys.

In need of a little help if you all don't mind.

My original structure (as with most people) included berger at R2. I have been looking at my side and I am reluctant to weaken other lines (ie two other positions) just to fix one.

This leaves me around $400k to find my second ruck. Which is the best option of a bad bunch?

    – still with berger and hope currie or Blicav get some game time till berger returns.
    – drop in Zac Smith and hope Gorringe doesn't hurt him too much
    – in reverse, drop in Gorringe and hope he passes smith (3 rookie strategy)
    – consider Jamar or Lobbe
    – Grab Longer till Berger returns.

as you can see I am at a loss on this one. None of the options particularly excites me.

    Help.
    Cheers.

    • tension says:

      out of those options;

longer is probably the most logical. then you can go to burger when he is fully firing.

zac smith next best I reckon. Difficult choice.

      • Jimbotraralgon says:

        thanks guys. great feedback

        really helps.

I’ve decide to put roughy in the Ruck and Monfries up forward. even though he is a risk he should score better than any mid priced Ruck.

cost me zorko but hoping roughy might cancel him out.

        cheers fellas!

      • Dean says:

I totally concur that Longer is the next best ruck chance for the Lions, however in saying that don't disregard Setanta O'hailpin as GWS second ruck, he may very well be a bit of a shark.

    • choppers says:

Hey Jimbo, FWIW, Smith isn't even in the Suns top 22 according to their review this morning. They have Dixon in the ruck. He hasn't even made the I/C bench nor has Gorringe. And Voss rates Leuey only 50/50 to take his spot against the Doggies. Good luck with that………..

    • choppers says:

Further to my last post. I see where Hickey (St. K) looks like getting plenty of game time early. They have Suns,Tiges,GWS and Essendon in their 1st 4. If he can av.70 for 1st 4, he may be an option for you if Leuey doesn't come up for Rd1. He's $308,200SC.

    • Shimma says:

I reckon stick with Berger. Voss said today that he was 50/50 to play Round 1 so he should play at least by Round 2, just throw blicavs/currie on the field for Round1

  23. Fongool says:

I think the scores were affected by the weather. Supercoach rewards effective kicks but with the conditions a bit slippery it meant players who get the ball like Heppell etc were not able to execute efficiently. Whet it did show was that Heppell and Watson should be a pretty good combination and Kommer will definitely be one of the better cash cows.

  24. justin says:

how many blank rounds do we have at the start of the season before it kicks off??? 2 or 3??

    • jimbotraralgon says:

just working backwards from the grand final round 23, 4 weeks of finals, 17 rounds, leagues should start round 3 by my (potential poor) calculations.

There will be plenty of comments leading up to the first league round so it wont come as a surprise ;-)

      cheers

  25. taggath says:

The ruck talk was interesting. I've found very little value from rucks, this pre-season. I crunched a few numbers (admittedly in DT, so not entirely applicable to Supercoach) and all the ruck picks around $400-425k are ~$100-150k overpriced, based on their 2012 output.

On last years form vs. season starting price in 2013, the only value picks are Leuenberger, Ryder or Z. Smith (excluding injured players).

    • jimbotraralgon says:

      interesting analysis.

I think supercoachcoach did a podcast on ruck late sometime last week that might give you some further food for thought.

They were pushing Kreuzer as a potential break out which I question due to the fact there are 3 other ruck options at Carlton. they could steal time from each other. plus Kreuzer burned me last year ;-)

      cheers

      • taggath says:

Yeh indeed. The thing that concerns me is that even with a break-out year, the initial outlay may only see you essentially break-even. I had Kreuzer in my time for a whort while, when I was playing with structure.

Jenkins (~$28k overpriced) and Roughy (~$47k overpriced) might suggest that Crouching's plan of playing mix-n-match with rotating Ruck-Fowards might be the best way to make the most of your cash, this season; whack the extra-cash into some premiums.

Also, on comparing the two games: the pre-season prices for rucks in DT vs SC shows $SC = 1.23($DT) ; 1.13 – 1.33 95% confidence interval. So, while the prices are different, it's not unreasonable to make comparisons.

  26. Dean says:

Ryder out and move Roughead into rucks from forwards then bring in Steve j….thoughs

  27. @MRB37 says:

Also, as was helpfully pointed out by @FantasyFreako on the twitters, last year only 3 players had more than 20 possessions when tagged by Andrew Raines last year. They were Ablett x2, Marc Murphy and Ryan Griffen. Looks like it could be another tough day at the office in round 2 for Dangerfield again.

Don't go panicking yet Dangerfield owners. Even if he does have another stinker up in Brissie, i'm fully expecting him to blow the roof off the place in Rd 3 (Port Adelaide) and Rd 4 (Western Bulldogs). Both played at AAMI Stadium as well, which i'm sure will be a help with less travel.

    • SCaddict says:

Yeah I probably will be riding Danger Zone out too. Although if he has another shocker and Mundy or Barlow have another blinder in Rd 2 there will be an awful temptation to click that trade button.

  28. @MRB37 says:

Well, looks like Robbie Gray is possibly making an early return. Played last 2 weeks in SANFL reserves and Ken Hinkley has said he's ready for AFL football. Not definite to play round 1, but he's in the mix. Could provide another LeCras trade option. Only word of warning will be that they've talked at playing him up forward to begin with, which will limit his scores a bit as he won't get that run through the midfield someone like Monfries is likely to get.

  29. Nic says:

Just heard Boyd is out for 3 weeks who should I replace him with Got Gaz And Swan thinking J Selwood?

    • @MRB37 says:

      Josh Kennedy!

    • SCaddict says:

Murphy or Swallow would also be decent alternatives for a similar outlay. But yes nothing wrong with Selwood either although he will cost you about $30K more.

    • Dean says:

Josh Kennedy with out a doubt, he will peak this year plus his first two games are against GWS & the SUNS he will be my Captain in rounds 1 & 2 and yes I have Ablett the great also, who will obviously be my Vice captain for the first two rounds.
      Good Luck with your decision.

  30. Pete says:

    Boyd is out!!!!!!

  31. Smithy says:

    Roughead or Mcevoy??

  32. Matt says:

what do u think of robbie gray? Should he come in before karnezis or varcoe? may be an injury risk but better history of high scoring than the other two

    • Rocksta says:

I think he is a better option than both the other 2, but wouldn't consider bringing him in until he has played a few games. Varcoe and Karnezis have both had good pre-seasons, whilst Gray has only played in the ressies as he is being eased back in. If there was more Rookie talent/depth in the forward line, it would be good to keep him on the bench, but i dont believe that is an option unless you have both Varcoe and Karnezis on the field, leaving McCaffer and Gray on the bench. I'd hold off until at least Rd 3 and see what pans out

      • jimbotraralgon says:

gray due back round 3. That's when league round start. Should have plenty of SAFL experience by then. Could be worth carrying IF you have fwd bench cover.

        Cheers.

  33. Blair says:

    Hey everyone,

Rethinking my structure going to replace one of my backman with a rookie out of these guys who should I drop:

    H. Harttlet

    C. Newman

    B. houlie

Rest of back line consist of Gibbs heppell Armstrong.

Thinking of bringing in pittard or plowman to make cash?

    Any thoughts??

    • SCaddict says:

I'd probably drop Armstrong actually. Even if he gets named in Rd 1 I don't reckon his JS will be as good as the other 5 guys you have given the Swans depth and even when he plays he may get the vest in some games.

Pittard would be a nice inclusion for your team and I believe he will generate you more cash for less risk than Armstrong. Or course as a Swannies supporter I hope I'm wrong and Armstrong has a breakout year but I'm certainly not counting on it.

The Plow is too pricey for most coaches to consider, plays a key defender role that usually limits fantasy scoring potential, and as he's still a young pup he may get rested regularly as part of the GWS rotation policy. So I would avoid selecting him myself.

      • Blair says:

Thanks for your advice mate hope your right bout army, Was only really lookin for a pod and noticed he had a good game nab cup. you’ve convinced me out for Pitt.
Who knows it’ll prob change before lockout haha

  34. john says:

    deledio or cotchin

    • jimbotraralgon says:

      cotchin mate.

both are good selection if the tigers play anywhere near where they should.

      cheers

  35. jimbotraralgon says:

I've heard on a number of sites that Jack Frost is up for selection.

and that dwyer is up for selection in a month.

I have pittard and spagher on the bench on the repective lines at $128k so the ability to drop these boys in at $96k would free up some cash.

Do we think these boys will get a sustained run or could we see worst case where they could get 2 games only?

Also, do we think that talk of dwyer playing might affect Macaffer job security?

    cheers.

  36. jimbotraralgon says:

    Hey guys.

Thinking about doing the ultimate hero or zero move this week.

considering locking in berger and gray before the free trade period ends.

Stick with me on this. The logic is it is unlikely I will win the $50k first price (we all can't win!). So I am focusing on winning my 3 cash leagues.

Gray and Berger will probably not play the first two weeks which are non-league scoring weeks. I have some coverage with Blicavs and Rowe on the ruck and fwd lines.

Doing this will allow me to have berger instead of roughy and gray instead of varcoe and importanly turn monfries into Zorko.

    Thoughts?

    Cheers

  37. Fraser says:

    Hey Guys,
Ripper podcast just what I needed.
Just wondering what you thought on Bartel or Zorko. Both had good nab cups and preseasons from what I've heard. What are your thoughts?

  38. angela says:

    got both in forward

  39. Joseph says:

Hey just wondering what you guys think roughead will average??

    • jimbotraralgon says:

thinking mid 90's as it appears hawks might play hale and Bailey.

Might mean roughly doesn't get as much time on the ball.

If you were Mitchell in the middle of the ground, do you look for buddy or roughly first?

      Cheers

  40. Deanbartel says:

Blicavs almost certain to debut on Monday. Lock him in!!!

  41. Gedransom says:

What do we think about Petterd as a cheapy?
    Will he play?
    Will he make us money?

    • SCaddict says:

He should get games and make money but maybe not every week so JS appears to be iffy at this stage.

  42. Big_Gav says:

Gday Jock and team first of all love the site a mate from work put me onto it, it is bloody marvellous!!! What are your thoughts on going with Gorringe in ruck instead of Curry more chance of making more $$$$ as R3? Maybe more games for him in a weaker team?

  43. uditha says:

    SC league – 636374

    4 spots left

  44. Helmet says:

G'day community – nickname suggestion .. Patrick "How Karnezy" Karnezis

  45. Luke says:

yes considering petterd, knights, karnezis or varcoe?. cant decide? help!!!! it could be a toss of the coin out of them. surely one of them must perform. a little concerned about karnezis with simon black out of the side. when he returns karnezis' scores should devalue. although his price should have increased by then. Petterd's position isnt safe although a round 1 spot it likely. neither is Knights spot whether he will be named round 1. Varcoe anything could happen? injury risk?

    • SCaddict says:

Most of us have had similar struggles. Varcoe's JS appears to be very solid but he's never been a big SC scorer. Karny has been slow to develop but he's had a ripping NAB Cup. So I would narrow it down to those two and just go with your gut.

  46. Matt says:

Can anyone tell me is Mitch Robinson is out due to Big Day Out fracka? Looking at for Stevie J replacement. Please and Thankyou

    • Davo says:

Stevie J is indefinite, he just had a knee op

      • Matt says:

Yup not telling me anything I didn't already know. Guess I'll just have to wait till teams are released.

    • SCaddict says:

No as far as I know he just copped a club fine and has to do some community service. He should be right for Rd 1 though. His team mate Scotland will miss a few games.

      • Matt says:

Thanks. Hard to keep track of all the off season stuff. Got Scotland and Robbos punishments mixed up.

  47. Todd says:

Kommer = "THE PERMINATOR" …… What do you reckon Jock !!

  48. Daz says:

Is Warnock an option in the ruck?

    • SCaddict says:

A very risky one I would suggest. Kreuuu is clearly ahead of him and the fact that Warnock is limited going forward Hampson will probably be the more favoured R2 option throughout the season for the Blues.

It's a similar situation for Bailey at the Hawks. It's very difficult to be a specialist ruckman these days unless you are one of the best in the league like a Jacobs or Sandilands.

Unfortunately it's very difficult to operate as a specialist ruckman nowadays unless you are one of the best list a Jacobs or a Sandilands.

    • SCaddict says:

It would be a risky pick for sure. Both Kreuuu and Hampson appear to be ahead of him for the R1 and forward/R2 roles.

It's a similar situation that Bailey finds himself in the Hawks with Hale and Roughy the preferred combo. It's just very hard nowadays to operate solely as a specialist ruckman unless you are the very best of your trade such as a Jacobs or Sandilands.

    • jimbotraralgon says:

Not for me. Too many Ruck options at Carlton. They might share the points between them a bit much.

      Cheers

  49. jimbotraralgon says:

    Kane Mitchell vs Ollie wines.

Got Mitchell but bit worried about his disposal effeciency and might get some run with roles.

    Thoughts?

    • SCattery says:

wines, i can see mitchell getting the sub vest a bit. Also think wines has higher JS.

    • SCaddict says:

I reckon Wines is worth the extra $40K and have selected him in my SC midfield.

I do have Mitchell in my DT side though but am concerned about his JS and % game time.

  50. Tom says:

A.Swallow or Cotchin as my M4?

    • SCaddict says:

I would choose Cotch mate. Although he was well held in their last practice match against the Dogs I would expect that scenario to be the exception rather than the rule. He's a super classy player.

Lids would be another one to look at for similar money to their captain. A very consistent performer in Supercoach for a long time and still seems to be improving.

Not saying Swallow would be a bad pick by the way. He's a very popular selection. Just giving you my preference that's all.

      • Tom says:

Thanks for your input mate :) Just wondering, would Swallow get the hard tag without harvey? I had Swallow last year as my POD, and he helped me get all the way into my league final, so i'm having moral dilemmas right here.

Do you think that Cotch won't get the hard tag?

        • SCaddict says:

The best inside midfielders like Swallow and Cotch are hard to shut down so I wouldn't worry about that too much. Ditto for players like Pendles and JPK.

If Swallow has served you well in the past then you should probably stick with him as he's only likely to keep improving.

But there's a reason why Cotch is currently in the top 3 in Brownlow betting along with Watto and GAJ. The kid can seriously play!

          • McFog says:

Don't listen to this guy. He's just conforming to what everyone else is saying so that he can get ahead of you. I bet he doesn't even have Cotchin in HIS side…. Cotchin is what everyone is choosing, so you need to get a player that consistently plays well and racks up the points!

Swallow will get the hard tag for the first 6 rounds so don't pick him.

  51. Saltysalts says:

No Rowe, meh, but NO VLASTUIN?? This is madness!

    Anyone ideas for forward rookies?
Have 170,000 to spend but neade is still on my bench for lack of anyone else…

And of course I have Macaffer

  52. Podsi says:

With the knowledge of Blicavs start with the Catters on Monday, would it be an idea to play a 1/0/3 ruk combo and use the $$$ spare to upgrade Vlaustin in the back to a premium mid priced player…!?

  53. Jim says:
