  1. The CrouchingOne says:

Slipper say me you wait for one more week and then get ….TEENWOLF in for one of your midplicers.

    Welcome.

As for Gleg Burnton … Maybe pull tligger now and get The Fisherman.

    Welcome.

For CrouchingOne, final rank matter more than the flag.

    • Jock says:

Thanks Crouching old son… very interesting is seeing how the Wolf Boy performs 2nd game back old mate. Always been a flag man myslelf.

On another topic mate – reckon Mrs Crouching could whack together some of those Pita bread pizzas with the basil and the sardines and that on em for the podcast this weekend?

      • TheCrouchingOne says:

Ah Yes Mr.Jock, some have capers, some not. Wax on wax off.

        Welcome.

Sending Slipper to dry cleaner today, need him fresh for final.

  2. Thanks for a great season Jockland old son.

The women's hockey has just finished and there is a bit of a lull before the beach volleyball kicks off. Polland vs Lithuania I rection…

Like the team, agree with the Broughton trade, but myself I haven't been sold on Lake either.

Mids are awesome and so are your rucks, like the POD.

    TAO

    • Jock says:

      You are very welcome TheAnointedOne.

Have really enjoyed your input this season – thanks for heloing to make this old Bastards season all the more richer.

It is a bloody traversty that the night beach volleyball in played in full body wetsuits. Absolute rubbish…

Yeah…. might just sit him there for week before I pull the trigger… might have other priorities pop up come finals time.

Talking of popping up… might go watch the volleyball

  3. billy says:

boys, 2 trades, top 4 certainty, need to get rid of stanton. can spend $449,800. thinking fyfe or goodes as premiums or going cheaper and getting moloney. thoughts?

    • Jock says:

Hold your trades this week mate for sure if it's league glory you're after…. watch Fyfe this week and consider him in wk 1 or 2 of your campaign… Moloney is too risky for mine on that front. No need to risks in the top 4 I reckon?

  4. Tim says:

Great team Jock! disappointment with broughton, thinking you should downgrade broughton to a tom bell or sam frost then you will have a decent amount of cash in your bank to upgrade one of ur rookies in the backline when the hit their B.E in a few weeks.

I'm sitting sixth in one of my leagues and ill stay that after this week, i had a disappointing start to the year but now comming into form and if i go at the rate im goin i could possibly make it the grand final or at least semi final. thats my second best league and in my best league im 9th and cause of my disappointing start to the year i ruined my chances to make the 8 and most likely to lose this week so probably win the bottom finals.

Finally got back to averaging over 2000 this week with a 2474 with 1 not play. i've had 3 under 2000 without byes round.

    • Tim says:

Thanks for a great year jock!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Jock says:

Tim – You are very welcome mate! Its blokes like yourself that provide a real spring to my step mate.

Mate – the good thing is you haven't dropped your bundle all year and you're hitting the line strong. Hope you give em absolute bloody hell in that league where you're sixth.

  5. John C says:

Jock and Crouching I need your wisdom. I am guaranteed top 4 in all leagues but only have 1 trade left and Stanton is now out.

The temptation is that with cash I have saved I can afford Nick Dal Santo or Fyfe this week but suspect they may increase in price and leave me with not many good choices for my 479500 assuming I trade stanton either this week or during finals.

Your Wisdom on this? Do I stick as wont have any donuts if there are no late changes or make the trade now and hope that there are no major injuries in finals?

    Thanks

    John

    • The CrouchingOne says:

Guarantee top 4 ….. You will fly kick self in face if injury come this week. CrouchingOne suggest hold. Maybe with luck, next week Stanton can become Murphy. Also depend on who you play week one final. Use trade to cover Week 1 opponent so you get week off.

      Welcome.

  6. JB says:

You have a ripper team there jock. The only thimg i could suggest would be to bring heath shaw into the backline for broughton or downgrade treloar and upgrade ellis,

Thanks for all your help this season mate

    • Jock says:

Thank you JB – you are a gentleman and a scholar. I like your thinking around Heathy Shaw mate… and yes – I wish I had have dealt with the Ellis issue by now.

You are very welcome mate ;)

  7. Dave2008 says:

Thanks for a great year Jock! Great site. Moving out Brougton this week. Other Backs are Lids Goddard Waters Lake Grimes S Shaw Spurr Ellis. I want to make another upgrade in defence and then get a m/f like Harvey/fyfe as f7 (cloke as f8) if i want carrots/scotland i need to do an extra downgrade this week prob to Bell. I have 6 trades and 306k in ghe bank. Rest if my team is set (Kreuzer/Giles R2/3) i am also safe in top 4. I think Ellis has the best us so would prefer to keep him. If I make don’t do the Bell trade then I’m stuck with Cloke as D7 unless I trade him also, as I need cash to turn Gibson into Fyfe etc in a week or two. Any ideas ?

    Broughton/Ellis for Scotland/Carrazzo (2 trades 5k)

    Broughton/S Shaw/Spurr for Scotland/Carrazzo/Bell (3 trades 291k)

    • Jock says:

Gday there Dave – thanks for your comments mate.

I'd definitely go the Broughton/Ellis for Scotland/Carrazzo (2 trades 5k) option, Would leave you 4 for finals, 2 you'll need to plug injury holes and you can use the other 2 for an upgrade at the right time

  8. Chillbills says:

    Jock,

Hope you got to the tissues in time for the beach volleyball. I have a similar backline to you – a bit weak with Blandon, Heal Spurr, Morris Minor, and Sammy Shaw, plus our old mate Broughts – (he will be cheap as chips next year).

Need your wisdom. Sitting in 5th and playing 4th placed team. If I win I go 4th. To make winning more probable I could use 2 trades and get Delidio and Bell for Broughts and Morris. (Want to keep Bleautiful Blandon. But then only 1 trade going into finals!

    What would Slipper say me?

I am thinking save trades and see if I can still win. My opponeent is in a similar boat methinks?

    • Jock says:

      Chillibills! How are ya mate?

That is a real dilemma you have there mate. Bloody tough one…

Tending to think that you'd be better served holding your trades… going into a finals series with just 1 backup is paramount to suicide I reckon… a real tempter thoughh..

What about a compromise – go Broughton straight swap for Sam Fisher?

      • Chillbills says:

Jock, I have a bit of cash squirrelled away for a rainy day like this, so will keep trades and may do Fish'n'Chips next week after he has played the mighty Pies.

Jock – The Community Salutates yers

  9. John says:

    Dear Jock,

How many premium players should we have at this stage of the season?

  10. CHOOK says:

Dear Jock or anyone else who cares. Im second on ladder only on percentage. No one below can catch me and im playing bottom table team this week. I got two trades up my sleeve, but have Stanton and M Robinson on the bench. My cover for them are Baguley and Miles.Got Ablett, Boyde, penndles, and masten as other Mids.

So the question is, Should I hang onto my two trades or go for broke and bring in my final side with Swan and Thompson for Stanton and Mitch Rob ?

    Thanks CHOOK !

  11. George says:

Hey Jock and co what do you think of my team?
    http://i.imgur.com/3uEIH.jpg?1

I hve 1 trade left and $212,000 in the bank. Should I upgrade Stanton or Broughton? I'm sitting 2nd on my ladder.

  12. Blake says:

I average 2375 over my last 4 matches and I am very happy with that. I am sitting tight in the top 2 in 3 leagues, 4th in another but 8th in my major league that I need to win. If I lose this week I won't make the finals! Wish me luck as I am playing the person sitting in 5th who also averages roughly 2300 over the last 4.

(I do have Sidebottom, Jacobs to return and expect WAY more from Taylor Walker and won't be playing M.Clarke again over Baguley or S.Shaw).

Thanks for the great year, hope I make it!

  13. Shanen says:

Also just adding my thanks for a great year. Already got a few mates onto your podcast/site. They all wished they Found your genuis advice earlier. So look forward for the teams return next year…

  14. Duggo says:

    Thanks Jock,

ive glanced my eyes over your website a few times and have picked up some good cheap value picks Nicky Dal, Boomer Harvs, Juddy and Dangerfield they came at a risk but most of them have came off or either done there job!

  15. Sam Winter says:

Worth burning my last trade to get rid of Broughton. I was going to get Michael Johnson, with 38k in the bank I can just afford him. I have good cover on the bench for him though. I have Smedts and Spurr with Sam Shaw on the field. Johnson's break even is 83 which he should get. Thoughts?

  16. Ben says:

trade porps for a rookie when franklin comes back and then trade spurr and broughton and upgrade them to waters and heath shaw

  17. Devilz says:

Very solid team there Jock, The Peoples Prince, The Father of Fantasy. Lovin the site this season, podcast never disappoints always hilarious. Lots of coverage there in backz, midz, fwd and good MPPz who on their day can pull out a score.

It could be too late now, if you have traded Broughton. If you didn't, how about hitting the trade button on Broughton and swing back Goddard from mid and upgrade Broughton into a mid or mid/fwd who is around 450k? If there is any good ones still at that price range, Faye, Goodes, Jordan Lewis?

Otherwise id be making the other trade as a downgrade to ensure you can trade Broughton into prem mid, Watson, Pendlez or opt for a player you believe will come home strong in finals, Mitchell, Sloane, A.Swallow, Pav. (Goddard retunrs to backline with 1 of Spur, Morris, Shaw playing on field. Not ideal for finals but if no injuries, can use last trade on upgrading one into prem back).

Or trade 3 backs, Broughton, Ellis, Spur or Shaw into 1 rookie (Move with Goddard, select Couch if back) & upgrade other 2 players into Shaw, Scotland, Waters or Hurn. Makes your backline stronger but no injuries trades so you would need cover to stand up if injury occurs in last 2 weeks.

Only you know which week will be more important to have your team at full strength (week 1 or week 3) in regards to saving/using those trades. Do you feel your side is good enough to win your leagues by doing 3 straight swaps to cover injuries? Or do you need to trade down a bench member for the cash so you get the extra points on the field, 1 injury trade with decent backups?

Only have 1 trade left 228k & looking to upgrade Spur to complete my team, would like to get Shaw just not sure if he will kill it in last 4, got my eye on Birchell however he didn't go so well last night, good finals run. Risking injury with my backups as Baguley, Bell, Gibson, GWS Kennedy, Cloke, hopefully will stand up if one of my premz goes down. Gona finish 5th in cash league so going all out with the last trades to stay alive in that league, top 4 in other leagues don't mean much.

Time to make or break your season, good luck everyone!

surely zorko is a better option than perhaps treloar or even cloke most weeks? with that much cash bugg could turn to waters or heath shaw, drummond to someone better or just sub him for s.shaw. im not a fan of kreuzer personally im thinkin jacobs or maric or another premium ruck

  19. Togg says:

Giles is doing massive!! everyone dumped him, i stuck with. rewarded greatly but with plenty of frustration before these last 2 weeks!!
