    • Bob says:

Boys, will Murphy do me the goods, or should I replace him for the likes of rockliff, or priddis? If neither, who should I get?

      • James says:

I am quite keen on Priddis – so consistant and has been improving as each year goes on

        • Bob says:

Yeah, I will consider him, it's a good idea. I had him last year, and he didn't disapoint. I am, sort of considering someone like rockliff, or redden, maybe even Sam Mitchell

  1. DanButler says:

    Can Someone rate my team

Backs – Goddard, Deledio, Shaw, Grimes, Clarke, Ellis, Bugg (Morris)

Mids – Pendlebury, Ablett, Murphy, Boyd, Barlow, Coniglio ( Neale, Magner)

    Rucks – Leuenburger, Giles (Stephanson)

Forwards – Franklin, Fyfe, Martin, Zaharakis, Porplezia, Devon smith and smedts ( hall & frank)

    What do you think?

    • Bob says:

It's alright mate, but the forward line could do with a LOT of work

      • Chillimaster says:

Not too bad Dan. Grimes I would avoid, save $100 and go Hargrave. I think the 1 premium 3 rookie ruck will cost you 60+ points per week for 12 weeks. No way you can make that up in the last 12. Go 2prem & 2 rookies, or 1prem 1 mid (Kreuzer or West, Maric at a pinch) & 2 rookies.

Forward line pretty good, Zaharakis might be a bit of punt but (I would lean towards Dangerfield if you want a breakout player) otherwise OK.

  2. MJ says:

1.Grimes is too much of a risk after another injury – i'd switch him to Hargrave who is destroying it in the NAB cup and looks a bargin Midpricer

2.Murphy needs to show more for me .. has struggled some what in the NAB and maybe a better bet would be J.Selwood

3.I'd get rid of Barlow for sure. With the extra money you will have made from Grimmes to Haargrave and Murphy to Selwood you should be able to get another premium like Montagna or Watson in and that's what i'd be doing.

4.Zaharakis and Porplezia are also a no from me .. if you can get rid of both of those and get another rookie and Paddy Dangerfield in who like Hargraves id destroying it in the NAB cup that's what I would do.

Other than that, like all other selections :D hope that helps

    • Jock says:

MJ loving your work mate. How good did the Danger man look on the weekend? He will tear a few players a new one this season

  3. Arnold says:

B – Goddard, Deledio, shaw, heppel, lake, ellis, morris, (bugg , wilkes)

M – ablett, boyd, rockliff, D. Smith, Pfiffer, McDonald, (Magner, Gibson)

    R – Mumford , Leunberger (Giles, Orren)

    F – Buddy, Goodes,Fyfe, D. Martin, Danger, Saad, Smedts, (Folau , Kerridge)

    Any thoughts?

    • MJ says:

      Arnold,

strong team mate but i'd have a look at a few more rookies in the forwards and back lines

can probably find better options for willes, saad, smeddts, folau and possibly even gibson in the midfield.

Leunberger not showing great form either so may want to switch him (id suggest McIntosh on current form)

      • brett says:

very skinny in rucks…they are the big point gatherers….like the rest but need another 500k for rucks….need to be 240 a week out of 2 ruckmen.,…..not here you aint….no swan or pendlebury costs you another 50….mid 200,000 finish…

        • Chillimaster says:

Brett, not sure what you are getting at here.

He has 2x premiums in the ruck which is perfect? Any more is pure waste of $500k+ on a non scoring premium.

  4. Jimmy says:

Please rate my team and give me tips:

    Backs – B.Goddard, H.Scotland, H.Shaw, N.Bock, M.Golby, M.Clarke, S.Darley (T.Bugg, L.Brown)

    Mids – G.Ablett, M.Boyd, M.Priddis, J.Bartel, K.Lucas, D.Smith (L.Neale, M.Baguley)

    Rucks – M.Leuenberger, J.Giles (T.Derickx, O.Stephenson)

    Forwards – L.Franklin, A.Goodes, N.Fyfe, D.Martin, G.Rohan, R.Cooyou, A.Treloar (B.Smedts, A.Hall)

    • MJ says:

      Very Nice Jimmy,

Alot of talk early for M.Clarke but with an injury effected preseason and not much game time for form in NAB cup so far I think there may be better options for that cash (have a look at Cameron Guthrie, same price braket and looks in great nick for Geelong)

And Kane Lucus has been talked up alot too this preseason but job security is a question mark. I don't see him in Cartlons best 22. Remeber their midfield includes judd, murphy, gibbs, simpson, robbo, carrazzo, curnow all playing for 5 spots in the middle beside the ruck .. Id look elswhere

Jump off Luenburger in the ruck too .. not showing much in the NAB cup

      • Jimmy says:

Ok, some good information. I'll definitely take all that into consideration.

Who do you think I should replace Lucas and Leuenberger with?

        • The Big Fella says:

Leuenberger, as did about 100 other players, finally got into a proper 4 qtr game. Admittedly a bit quiet, but no need to "Jump Off" after ONE quiet afternoon in a NAB Cup. Keep him. Keep Lucas too, if he isn't named Rnd.1, get rid of him before lockout.

    • Chillimaster says:

Bock will miss the early rounds due to suspension for releasing gambling info. Replace now and look to upgrade into him in the early part of the season.

See earlier comments on the 3 rookie rucks, you are simply throwing points away.

      • Crazy Joe Fevola says:

**opening lines removed by moderator**The logic behind starting Giles on the ground is that he has great JS and little to no chance of vest issues. So by starting him on the ground you are enabling yourself to carry an extra premium in one of the mids/fwd/backs which is where you make up for the points your narrow little mind claims are being “thrown away”. Essentially by going with Giles as a starter you are hoping that the extra premium you can have in one of the mids/fwds/backs plus Giles scores more than the 2nd premo ruck and the starting rookie on either the mids/fwds/backs. As mentioned the appeal of Giles is he has brilliant JS and very little vest chances and based on NAB from solid scoring potential. Where as the extra rookie you have in the mids/fwds/back may not have as good as JS, maybe a good chance for a vest and scoring potential could be questionable. By going Giles as a starting ruck you aren’t expecting him to average 100 or be a premo ruck you are happy with a 70ish average coupled with great JS and you get your benefit by being able to have an extra premo mid/fwd/back. Given there are so many premo rucks around this year I like the idea of letting Giles fatten up nicely before upgrading to the best avail premo ruck. So Giles doesn’t have t score like a premo he just has to score similar to other rooks for the strategy to potentially work. The cost benefit of Giles as a starter is as follows – Cost is the difference b/w 2nd premo rucks scores and Giles. Benefit is the difference b/w the extra premo mid/fwd/def you get less the rookie you would have had to have gone with if Giles wasn’t starting. The clincher of the deal is Giles has great JS, low vest possibilities and good scoring potential in comparison to other rookies. Compared to a Treloar/Shiel/Hampton/Cameron from GWS who will all likely cop a vest @ times and be rotated in and out of best 22 and not see a lot of the ruck when GWS start getting belted.

        • Jock says:

Gday there Crazy – thanks for dropping by mate. Reckon you please make sure you stay respectful in your posts mate? This is a place where we want fantasy coaches to come and feel comfortable. Jock

        • Chillimaster says:

CJF, great assessment on Freezeframe, shame you hav to spoil it by poo behaviour. I agree with all your points on giles but as far as starting him goes, essentialy you are replacing R2 with M5 & hoping that R4 is a better cash cow than M8 would have been.

I don't think it works, i think the mid rookies will be better cows than the rucks, so i will have more of them and less in the ruck & keep Giles at R3.

          Goodluck with your strategy

  5. Will says:

After the weekend, what does everyone think about punting on the H. McIntosh & M. Kruezer double in the ruck?

Could be UNBELIEVABLE if they stay healthy.

    • Will says:

      sorry, M. Kreuzer.

      • brett says:

        kreuzer is a 50 pointer…your 100 short a week for a start there…

        • Jock says:

Mate.. gotta agree on bretts Kreuzer call. Starting to see some merit and either (McEvoy, Leuenberger, Cox) plus McIntosh in the ruck. Hard to know what the dynamic will be when Goldstein is around will be though.. tough

          • The Big Fella says:

MacIntosh is a huge option. We all remember he can score a truck load. Played 1 game last year after injury and pulled in 96 I think. Im not worried about him chopping out Goldie for say 1.5qtrs per game and what their dynamic will look like, I am more waiting to see where he plays when NOT in the ruck. Can they fit him and Petrie down forward? Surely he is too good to be coming off the bench.

  6. MJ says:

    Will,

went into my team last night and had a play around with that ruck combo .. Think it is still a bit risky but to be honest none of the premiums have shown me much so far this NAB so this might be the way to go .. i'd say keep an eye on their form and if you still like what you see in two weeks time, lock it in :D

  7. Lake says:

Rate my Team: Played around with this for about a month and think Im almost there.

Goddard Broughton Bugouyne Hargrave Golby Darley Morris and Guthrie Baguley

Swan A Swallow Cotchin Jack Masten Hogan and D Smith S Gibson

Sandilands Leunberger and J Redden Stephensen

Fyfe Gray N. Reiwoldt J. Reiwoldt Hurley Poplysia Pfeiffer and Skinner A Hall.

    Whats your comments????

    • brett says:

can see about a 400.000th finish for this side

    • Jock says:

Gday there Lake – mate – a solid first attempt. Probably fair to say a bit of reconstructive work required… bit too many speculative midpriced players for mine with limited upside (Burgoyne, Jack, Mastern, Jack Riewoldt, Hurley)

  8. Ben says:

Cut the shit attempt at comedy out and you've got a good podcast.

  9. max says:

rate my team what do you think

deledio goddard scotland lake ellis guthrie bugg yagmoor wilkes

ablett pendelbury s.mitchell j.selwood barlow neale ledger magner

    kruezer maric giles derickx

martin franklin fyfe riewoldt goodes smedts kerridge hall mcintrye

    • Jock says:

Nice looking start mate. A few points.. Barlow having trouble on that leg he broke last year so I'd think of scratching him. Orren Stephenson should be a gimmee in the ruck this season so think about him instead of maybe Derickx or Maric. Rucks generally skinny, look for some more premium action there.. Goodes has been starting the season slow of late so consider picking him up later..

Coming along though mate – thanks for joining in! :)

    • Spifflicator says:

An interesting ruck strategy 0-2-2, but load on premiums everywhere else. See Bretts comments earlier on rucks, they are a supercoach cornerstone and having no premium ruckman is inviting disaster early, as you lose points to the leaders.

  10. DDJ says:

Rate my team. Would like some constructive criticism.

Forwards: Franklin, Goodes, Fyfe, Champman, Porplyzia, Saad, Smedts (Zorko, Rowe)

Any tips on what to upgrade or downgrade?

    • Spifflicator says:

Not too bad, but Goodes won't play rnd 1 due to suspension I believe, can anyone confirm that?

  13. Andrew says:

Backs – Deledio, Hargrave, Burgoyne, Gilham, Ellis, Duigan, Smedts, Bugg & Morris (Rich)

Mid – Ablett, Mitchell, Fyfe, Scotland, Cotchin, Martin, Baguley, Magner

Rucks – Macintosh, Giles, Stevenson and Derixxxx

Forwards – Buddy, Riewoldt J, Danger, Robinson Mitch, Cullinan, Rohan, Gunston, Tomlinson and Treloar

    Any Suggestions would be welcome

  14. Spifflicator says:

Without wishing to discourage you Andrew, that's got quite a few holes.

Too few premiums down back, and forward.

If you are going to play the 3rookie ruck stratgey then you should loaded up on pure premiums ($500k+ and prefereably $550k+) everywhere else and not play a heap of mid pricers.

  15. AFLG says:

    My team V1

goddard shaw lake hargrave bugg mohr morris guthrie brown

ablett swan priddis bartel coniglio stevens neale magner

Hey, with the Ruck options haven't heard anyone talk about Sam Jacobs? Good price, guaranteed to play without any competition..+ out of the young ruck stocks which is the most likely to play do you think?

  16. Lee says:

hey guys this is my team, obviously not all rookies are set in stone, but this is close to my starting line-up. you'll notice no buddy but i believe cyril will have a bigger year… any criticism appreciated.. cheers

    Mumford, Naitanui (Giles, Stephenson)

Buddy, Goodes, Fyfe, Christenson, Dangerfield, Motlop (Hall, Mellington)

As you can see, I'm a bit of a knock on all the gun backs (Goddard stinking so far and Saints slide imminent, Deledio mincey, Scotland wrong side of 30, Shaw brain melt risk . . . )

Rather spend the extra coin in Mids / Fwds

    Thoughts . . . a lot of work to do I know

  18. Trent says:

Please help me out, Backs – Goddard, Scarlett, Taylor, Duigan, Grimes, B.Ellis, Bugg, Mohr and S.Morris. Midfielders – Ablett, Judd, Fyfe, Shuey, Hill, Wingard, Magner and Neale. Rucks – Naitanui, Mclintosh, Stephensen and Giles. Forwards – Johnson, Hawkins, Pavlich, Gray, Howe, Saad, Hall, Butcher and Cooyou. What do you think? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  19. Luke says:

Question. Whats everyones opinions on ruck 3 & 4?? Stepenson mature age big body but i dont think he has done much in nab cup.

Giles is mature age with experience against afl level ruckmen

Redden. Young and maybe struggle for consistent games if lobbe and renouf are fit but definitely looked impressive in nab cup.

Cant decide which 2 to go with

  20. BJ says:

G'day, anyone wanna give thoughts on my side. Not sure bout back line.

Help me out please jock!! a few wildcards but hey the game needs risks to win. Strategy is to have dual position players. Mostly players that play in the midfield

  23. Dellanator says:

    Hey Jock/ everyone else

Was just wondering if you guys could give me some feedback/ criticism/ suggestions on my team so far. Ive been watching the NAB closely and would like to think Ive got the young guys pretty much right (but am still open to suggestions!). I think Ive got enough ddp to cover most of the bye rounds and injuries. I know the backline is a bit weak, but am counting on a pretty stacked mids and forwards lines to carry them, especially with (hopefully a few) decent youngsters to upgrade the backs later on.

    DEF: B Goddard (mid), B Delidio (mid), C Garland, T McDonald, T Gillies, B Ellis, B Smedts (fwd) R: T Mohr, L Brown (mid)

    MID: G Ablett, M Murphy, N Ffye (fwd), D Martin (fwd), S Coniglio, C Wingard R: J Magner, S Gibson

    RUCK: M Leuenberger, T West R: J Giles, O Stephensen

    FORW: L Franklin, D Beams (mid), J Lewis, T Cloke, A Walker, T Hawkins, D Zorko, R: A Treloar, A Hall

    CASH LEFT OVER: 28K

A Couple of decisions Im finding hard to make:

-Maybe trade Hall with either ahmed saad or ryhs cooyoo

-Maybe change cloke for nick reiwolt (better potential upside? And have extra 40k for another upgrade)

-Maybe change fyfe for sam Mitchell (have the cash to do it, only concern is that I lose a dpp fwd, and I only have 2 others of them in my squad)

Thanks guys, any input on that or any other players would be muchly appreciated!

    • johnnoB says:

      -no DEF-MID swinger?
